This is a little recount of the adventures of the famous fashion designer; Rarity.
After opening another branch of Carrousel Boutique, but this time in Manehattan, Rarity decides to stay at home for a while resting from the cameras and the daily stress. For her surprise, Ponyville became much more interesting since she went to Manehattan to put everything together in her new boutique. Warning: Sparity hints.
Rarity woke up with a big smile on her mouth, she walked downstairs to find her little sister Sweetie Belle sat in the table drinking what seemed to be burned juice. Her good mood wasn't affected, she had just dreamed with the most beautiful ideas for new dresses, and not only that, but that day she was going to open her new boutique at Manehattan.
"Good morning Sweetie, did you sleep well?" she said, as she walked closer to her little sister, but something stopped her, her hooves were stuck in a fluffy object she recognized instantly; Opalescence, her cat. Rarity fell to the ground as the cat moaned with anger, while Sweetie Belle just giggled.
"Hi Rarity" she tried to say among sounds of laughter, but Rarity could only hear "Hnmf Rmhgfthjfgy" Despite her little incident, her smile was still in her face.
"Are you hungry Sweetie? do you want me to make some cucumber sandwiches for both of us?" Rarity said in a sweet voice.
"Sorry sis, but I already took my breakfast" Sweetie said pointing her burned juice with one hoof.
The older unicorn started cooking breakfast for herself, and as she was about to start eating, when her little sister said "Rare, do you think you would let me go out to play with a friend this afternoon?"Rarity raised her sight up from her plate and answered:
"Of course darling, who is that little friend of yours?" Sweetie looked down to the ground.
"His name is Button Mash, he invited me to play in his house" she managed to say as she blushed.
"A colt's house? well, I guess I'll need to take you there and meet his mom... oh, but... today I'm going to Manehattan..." And only until that moment Rarity's expresion changed from a smile to a look of concern.
Sweetie's smile was also broken, the idea of having to tell Button she couldn't go to his house broke her little heart. "B-But Rarity, if you are leaving for a week, who am I going to stay with?" Sweetie asked for changing her thoughts a little.
"Oh! didn't I tell you? I swear I did... you are going to stay with Twilight" Rarity answered and gave her little sister a soft hug.
"Are you sure she doesn't care if I stay in the castle with her?" Sweetie said, concerned
"Of course she doesn't, and since Spike is coming with me, she'll love having some company at the castle".
Sweetie Belle stood there thinking for a moment while Rarity finished eating her breakfast, then she looked at the hour and gasped "Look at the hour, I have to take the train in fifteen minutes!! Come on Sweetie, let's go to Twilight's" Rarity said as she took Sweetie's hoof and ran away to Twilight's castle. When they got there, Spike was ready to go, but their train was leaving in five minutes.
"We are doomed!" Rarity whined and almost fell to the ground, but she was catched on time in Spike's claws.
"Don't worry Rarity, I can take you to the train station with my magic" Twilight said, and then she wrapped every pony -and dragon- in the room with her purple aura of magic. They disappeared and reappeared in the train station.
"Thank you Twi! you saved my life" Rarity said, as she got into her train followed by Spike, who was carrying all the luggage by himself.
When the train finally left the station Twilight noticed Sweetie Belle was a little sad "What's wrong Sweetie, are you sad because Rarity left? Don't worry, she will be back soon, and meanwhile, we will have fun together!" Twilight exclaimed, but Sweetie's mood didn't seem to change. "I'm not sad because of that, it's just that... oh, it doesn't even matter now" Sweetie Belle said, as she got a little angry. "Mind if you tell me as we take some milkshakes?" Twilight offered and Sweetie agreed.
After the purple alicorn asked for what she wanted to eat in Sugar Cube Corner, she asked "And, are you going to tell me what's wrong now?" Sweetie nodded.
"It's just that a colt of my school invited me to play in his house this afternoon and Rarity said she had to meet his mom first, but she is now in her way to Manehattan and there's no way she can go and meet his mom, but I really want to go!" She finished telling her story and a few tears rushed trough her face.
Twilight felt a little awkward and said "Don't cry Sweetie, I'll go and meet his mom!" and then just closed her eyes a little scared of Sweetie's possible reaction, but instead of what she expected Sweetie just said:
"Oh, thanks Twilight, that's so nice of you" in the most cheerful way, it was impossible to say she had just cried.
Back in the train with Rarity and Spike, they were conversing about various things when suddenly Rarity mentioned something that her friend Pinkie Pie had told her time ago.
"One day Pinkie Pie told me her family kept a crystal called The choosing stone and she says that when a pony touches it, an image of the cutie mark from the pony you will marry will appear, do you think it's true?" she asked in a mysterious way.
"Celestia may know, but since every weird thing Pinkie has told me ended up being true, let's say that The choosing stone is actually magic..." The dragon started giving his opinion "...and even if it's just an old false tale, it is a very interesting story."
He finished, and the unicorn stared at him with a look of interest and a rare shimmer in her eyes.
"So, let's just imagine it is actually true and Pinkie accidentally touches it, who do you think she will marry?" Rarity asked, and the dragon stood there with wide eyes.
"Well, it is really hard to say... Do you remember the birth-aversary party Pinkie threw for Rainbow dash?" Spike asked and Rarity nodded "Well, that means you must remember the pony who helped Pinkie planning the party" Rarity nodded again "Yup, I'm saying Pinkie Pie must marry Cheese Sandwich"
Spike finally said, and Rarity totally agreed. They continued talking about all of those things as the sun lowered in the horizon and the moon was slowly risen by a princess far away from them, the princess of the night, Princess Luna.
Rarity and Spike were sleeping in their wagon when a pony told them they were already in Manehattan. Rarity yawned and Spike, who was still sleepy took a long time to wake up. They both got off the train without saying a word and went walking to their hotel.
"I guess we'll have to open the boutique tomorrow morning" Rarity finally said letting herself fall in the bed of the hotel, and so did Spike.
The next morning Rarity called a restaurant and made sure they would deliver their food in Rarity's new boutique; she walked up next to Spike's bed and woke him up.
"Good morning Spikey-wikey, ready to open the boutique?" she said and Spike opened his eyes "hgn sure I am" he answered and then yawned as he got out of his bed.
They were taking breakfast among boxes and speaking of a lot of things. "I wonder what is taking Coco so long..." Rarity said.
"Is she coming?" Spike asked, considering that maybe Rarity forgot to tell him.
"Oh, yes, actually, she is going to help me here like Sassy Saddles helps me in Canterlot" Rarity told him and Spike smiled.
"But didn't she had a job the last time we were here?" Spike wondered and Rarity said peacefully:
"Her job only lasted the time she took for making those costumes for that play, and now she's totally free to help me" And after Rarity explained, the door of the boutique opened to reveal Coco Pommel.
She got in and Rarity greeted her with a hug "Hi Coco, this is my friend Spike, we are so glad you are here, darling!" Rarity said "Oh.. Hi Rarity, I'm so glad to see you too, hi Spike". Coco greeted as she came into the boutique.
"Well, Spike, you can finish your breakfast while Coco and I unbox this stuff" Rarity told to Spike pointing the boxes full of dresses and mannequins. Spike nodded and continued eating, but this time faster so he could start helping too.
"Wow Rarity, you are REALLY a step further in fashion, you've already made the spring collection for the next year!" Coco exclaimed with amazement.
"Well, yes dear, I don't really plan to come along too much since holidays are coming" Rarity said, proud of herself.
Spike finally finished his food and joined up to Rarity and Coco. Sooner than what they all thought, they had finished and they were just giving the final ditails.
"Coco, be a dear and make sure the winter collection is more vissible than the others, I know for sure ponies use to buy lots of dresses for holiday season" Rarity afirmed and Coco nodded as she made sure the winter dresses were in sight of every pony.
Spike meanwhile decided to fix little failures in the inside of the boutique, like little holes in the wall paper.
It was the exact noon and Rarity decided to organize the grand opening of her boutique. Coco was giving leaflets to ponies out in the street, while Spike and Rarity nailed posters all over the city. When the three of them runned out of publicity, Rarity decided it was time to rest. They went to a coffee shop next to the boutique and started talking.
Among pathless conversations, Coco mentioned that she met a few fans of Rarity's dresses.
"Yes, I swear, one of them literally started crying when I told her I am your friend" she affirmed, but Rarity could not believe it.
"B-But since when am I that famous?" Rarity asked a little shocked.
"Well, I remember a few months ago I saw your face in the first page of a magazine followed by the story of your new boutique in Canterlot and the success of the dresses you made, honestly, if I was younger I would also become your fan" Coco concluded, and Rarity nodded slowly thinking in her past success.
After a few minutes all Rarity's doubts were answered when a group of fans got next to the table and asked Rarity to sign autographs, she at first was a little confused, but she started doing what her fans asked for, one of them mentioned The element of Generosity, and how Rarity was able to save Equestria next to her friends. It was all like a dream, and of course she knew for sure that her new boutique was going to be very successful. When her fans left, Rarity took a long breath and said:
"Coco, I think I'll have to bring new dresses very often" and Rarity fell from her chair completely breathless.
Coco said goodbye as she headed back to her home, ready for whatever came the next day. Rarity and Spike headed back to their hotel.
"Y'know Rarity, I'm really happy for you" Spike said as they both walked through the street.
"And why?" Rarity asked peacefully.
"Well, all your dreams are becoming reality, every other pony would give their right hoof for that" Spike answered smiling to his beautiful unicorn friend.
"Well, yes... it is true... but this wouldn't be possible if it wasn't because of friends like you, that always help me without asking for anything in exchange" Rarity concluded and Spike smiled convinced that what Rarity said was true.
It was the day of the grand opening of Manehattan Carousel Boutique, and as usual, Rarity woke up before Spike, she decided not to bother him in his sleep, but she did proceed to fix her mane and makeup. A knock on the door made Rarity forget about her makeup. The pony on the door said she had received an anonymous present, she accepted the present and gave the mail pony a little gem. She got inside the hotel room and opened the present, but first she examined the present because A wrap like this is worth of a recognition. It was a small box, not bigger than a hoof, wrapped in an elegant paper that looked similar to a fabric Rarity invented, and it had a beautiful ribbon that reminded Rarity something familiar, but she couldn't say what.
"Hmn... I wonder who was the pony who sent this... well, I guess I must open it" Rarity said as she unwrapped the present. Inside there was a picture of Rarity's cutie mark, "How curious" she said, and she turned the picture to reveal a little message. "Good luck with your new boutique, Rarity" She read as the dragon in the next bed woke up.
"What is that Rarity?" Spike asked with the same curiosity Rarity had. "It's a present, an anonymous pony sent it, but I really don't get why" Rarity answered, as the dragon walked closer to his unicorn friend. "I don't get it either, what kind of pony puts a message in a present box, when it's obvious that messages go on letters" Spike pointed out, and Rarity giggled a little. "No, silly, I don't get why would some pony send this kind of message anyways... Good luck with your new boutique, Rarity it just doesn't fell right..." She said, and she lost herself in thoughts. Meanwhile Spike walked up to the bathroom. When he got out, he found Rarity exactly in the same spot, it was impossible to say if she even blinked. "Rarity... Rarity, are you okay?... RARITY!" The dragon tried to get his friend out of her thoughts, after a few seconds, she got out of her shock. "Were you saying something?" She asked, apparently she didn't notice her friend had been calling her for the last five minutes. "YES, I was, I've been calling you the last five minutes, look, I know it's weird to find this kind of messages, but don't let other ponies get into your mind like that, okay?" Spike said, sitting next to Rarity, she turned around to see him and stood in silence for a little while more. "Sorry Spike, I'll get more focused from now on, you are really a good friend"Rarity said and smiled to him. "Yes... just a friend" Spike answered and sighed. "What was that?" Rarity asked. "Oh.. nothing! we better hurry, the opening of the boutique is in ten minutes!" Spike said as he grabbed Rarity's hoof for her to follow him. They got out of the hotel building and headed to the boutique. A small crowd was already out of the boutique, and when Rarity arrived another crowd of ponies gathered in the front door. Coco Pommel was already inside, placing some new Hearths Warming decorations. "Coco! you are a genius, how could I've forgotten!" Rarity exclaimed as she took some new decorations and helped Coco "Let me help you. Spike, be a dear and make sure every decor is in the right position" Spike rushed to the other mares and helped them in their task, and just in time everything in the boutique was ready... except some pony.
Rarity's makeup was not there, her face was a mess, and everything thanks to the little note she received that morning. Spike noticed that little detail, but he didn't tell her so she wouldn't panic. Even though three of them were nervous, Rarity proceeded to make the grand opening. She opened the front doors and pulled out golden scissors from a little box. She raised the scissors with her blue aura of magic.
"Today is the grand opening of the Carousel Boutique, and I am so happy to share this dresses with you. Welcome Manehattan!" Rarity spoke to the crowd and then cut the ribbon. The big crowd rushed inside the boutique as Rarity was pulled inside with them. Every dress in exposition was beautiful, and perfect for the season. Coco, the pony who was in charge of the till, got a little nervous at first, but everything went out perfectly, until...
...Some pony that had already bought the dress she wanted walked up next to Rarity and asked for an autograph, but when the random pony got close enough to Rarity, she got a little surprised. "What happened to your face?" The random mare asked, and Rarity changed her face from happy to worried. "Why?!" She said, coming into panic. Rarity pulled out a mirror and looked up to her face, and the catastrophe occurred.
Rarity started running around the boutique as a maniac, yelling and screaming all her lungs could. Spike catched her and stopped her. "Rarity, what's wrong?" He asked, and the whole crowd inside the boutique came closer. "This is the worst possible thing!!" Rarity whined. She started crying and Coco Pommel dispersed the crowd as every pony went back to their task of buying dresses. Coco walked closer to her friend. "Spike, go to the till and make sure every pony get what they want, I'll take charge of this" She said. Spike ran to the till and the ponies in the line started buying again. Meanwhile Coco tried to calm down her friend, it was a difficult task because the white unicorn was crying and whining in the floor saying things like "I'm doomed, every pony will laugh at me!" "Rarity, calm down right now, if you keep crying, then that's why they'll laugh, but, if you stand up in this moment as a mare of your age, you can borrow my makeup" Coco told her, and the unicorn got up from the ground and dried her tears. "Thanks Coco" Rarity thanked and took the makeup from her friend's hoof.
Everything continued perfectly from that moment, as ponies got in and out from the boutique. The night had fallen and Coco said it was time to leave. "Bye Rarity, bye Spike, see you tomorrow" Coco said, putting her scarf on. "Wait, Coco, you'll have to open the boutique tomorrow, you see, Twilight told me she had something important to tell me, I don't know why she didn't tell me in the letter, but Spike and I will have to take tomorrow's train" Rarity stopped her. "Well, hum, I'll see you in the train station then" Coco said, and that time, finally left.
After a week in Manhattan it was time to Spike and Rarity to leave, they were getting inside the train as Coco waved goodbye. “Bye Rarity! Bye Spike! See you later! Thanks for the opportunity, don’t forget to write!” She was saying, and the train advanced far from her. Inside the train, Rarity and Spike started talking again. “You know Rarity, sometimes when Twilight and I are bored; we like to invent stories, like a roleplay, want to try?” Spike proposed, and Rarity accepted the proposal. “Okay… Once upon a time-“Rarity started, waiting for Spike to continue. “In a jewelry shop” “Two partners in crime” “Looked for precious gems in delight” “The older one proposed ‘Rubies’” “As the younger said, ‘Emeralds first’”
The two of them told the story, giggled a little, and even made a perfect crime plot based on a doodle of a false jewelry shop made by Rarity. They were having fun as they never had before, until a pony dressed in a police uniform got into their cubiculum in the wagon they were.
“Good morning, can I know what are you doing?” The cop said, as Rarity stood up from her seat. “Of course officer, we are telling a roleplay story” Rarity answered, showing the police pony their doodle of the false jewelry shop. The stallion spoke in his radio device “Gentle colts, we have a possible 10-45, this could or could not be a 10-45” Rarity’s expression shocked and Spike also stood up from his seat.
“Hum, officer, what’s a 10-45?”Rarity asked, a little nervous. “It means Attention to every units and I’m saying it’s possible because you two are suspicious, but not enough for getting arrested” The cop explained. “So, I have to make sure you are not trying to steal a jewelry shop” He took out his radio device again. “Gentle colts, I’ll need support in here, total 10-48, I repeat, 10-48”
Spike walked closer to Rarity, who seemed relaxed, as if everything was in order. “Rarity, why are you so relaxed?” Spike asked as the cop turned around waiting for his partner. “Well Spike, 10-48 means Speak in joke, so we have nothing to worry about, just be careful with what you say, actually, let me speak” Rarity explained, and Spike nodded.
The other cop got into the train wagon and pretended to be serious, but actually, the two stallions were giggling insidetheir tooth.
"Very well, what do we have here?" The new cop said and the older cop handed him Rarity's doodle. "A jewelry shop huh?" He said and gasped falsely. "Are you trying to... STEAL IT?!" The cop said as the stallion behind him busted in laughter.
Rarity smiled "Well officers, nice pun, but I think we all shall go back into the calm of our seats" she said and the two laughing cops walked until they were out of Spike's and Rarity's sight.
"I'm happy it was all a game, Rarity" Spike said and sighed. "Well, I am not, How am I supposed to feel safe if the officers in charge are making jokes and playing with the ponies in the train?" Rarity said in disapproval. "Huh.. I guess it's true, but in case of emergency, you have a dragon by your side" Spike said and then tried to get some fire out of his mouth, but instead of that, he could only get some little flames and fell to the ground. Rarity giggled "Now THAT makes me feel safe"
Both of them giggled as they enjoyed their trip. Since that journey was a day-long trip, Rarity decided to go to the food wagon. "Come on Spike, let's get some food" Rarity said. "Well, I don't think it's a good idea, unless they have some precious gems, I won't be able to eat with you" Spike said a little unsure, but still followed Rarity. "But I thought you also ate pony food" Rarity said confused. "I did, until Twilight found a book about dragons. It said that pony food can make my growth slower, and even avoid me for getting wings" Spike said, pointing his wingless back. "Oh.. I guess you can eat this" Rarity said, taking some jewels from her saddle bag. "But Rarity, aren't you going to use those in your dresses?" Spike asked worried. "I was, but for a friend like you, Anything!"
The two friends ate as the sun fell in the horizon and in the sky started appearing little twinkles, stars. Rarity and Spike decided to continue their story, based on their experience with the officers a few hours ago.
"And the officers, convinced that the partners in crime were innocent, left laughing" Rarity said, telling the story. "But what they didn't know, is that the partners in crime had a whole lot of emeralds and rubies hidden under their hooves" Spike continued and ate a diamond from the ones Rarity had given him.
But when Rarity and Spike didn't notice, the cops got into the food wagon. "'Oh, how foolish cops!' The older one said" Rarity continued, but Spike wouldn't dare, since the police officers were standing back from Rarity, with a face of disgust. "Why don't you continue Spike?" Rarity said, and for some reason or another she turned around her head to reveal two cops with intentions of arresting them.
"Well gentle colts, my mistake, arrest them" The cop said to the other officers behind him, and the other stallions proceeded to arrest them and carry them to an empty wagon that looked like a jail. There they released Rarity and Spike, who were so worried and scared they couldn't think in a way to get out of that one.
"So, you weren't trying to steal it, after all, huh?" An officer said, taking Rarity's doodle out of his bag. "But we weren't" Spike said, trying to defend himself and Rarity with him. "Well, we got a call from a jewelry shop in Manehattan, the owner said that the thieves escaped in a train to Ponyville" The cop said, walking closer and closer to Rarity and Spike. Since Rarity and Spike were too paralyzed to answer, the cop continued. "And the owner said they were two thieves, a mare and a stallion" Rarity's eyes sparkled as an idea came to her mind. "Then that's it! that's how you know we are not guilty. Yes, I am a mare, but my dearest friend Spike is not a stallion, he's a dragon!" Rarity exclaimed with glee, knowing that her argument would get Spike and her out of the trouble they got in.
The officer stood up there for a while and then he blushed a little ashamed. "I'm sorry, I guess you WERE doing a role play after all" The officer apologized, when a voice in his radio device stopped him from whatever he was going to say. "Attention, we found the real thieves, in wagon 3" The voice of another officer called out from the device. "I'm very sorry, but I'll have to leave you" He said as he ran in help of the other cops.
Rarity and Spike also left that wagon and walked back to the food wagon to finish eating. "Well, at least you'll have something to tell twilight about your trip" Rarity said, placing her hoof in Spike's shoulder. "Yes, that we got arrested, I can't imagine how happy she'll be when she hears that" Spike said sarcastically.
Rarity and Spike got out of the train and Spike headed to the crystal castle as Rarity headed to the original Carousel Boutique. "Bye Rarity, see you tomorrow" Spike said. "Bye Spike" Rarity answered. When Rarity got home she found Sweetie Belle already asleep, but she had been waiting for Rarity, to Rarity took Sweetie with her magic and put her in her bed. "Good night Sweetie Belle" Rarity told to her and kissed her cheek.
The next morning Rarity woke up peacefully, and something interrupted her thoughts, she looked at the calendar. "Sweet Celestia! Today is Hearths Warming Eve!!" She yelled waking Sweetie Belle up. "Yes, didn't you know?" Sweetie Belle asked a little sleepy. "O-Of course I didn't... I STILL NEED TO BUY THE PRESENTS!" Rarity screamed leaving Sweetie Belle alone. "Don't worry Rarity, I'll take breakfast alone, IN HEARTHS WARMING EVE!" Sweetie yelled, getting a little angry, but that wouldn't ruin her Hearth's Warming cheer.
Rarity took some dresses from her own boutique. "Okay, we have Twilight, Fluttershy and Applejack covered... Three to go!" Rarity said and ran out of the boutique. She got into a store of collectible articles and detected some figures of the wonderbolts. "Uhm, sir, I'd like to have those in a present box" Rarity said and paid to the pony in the till. "Two to go!" She said as she got out of the store.
She detected a party supply store and thought "This is perfect for Pinkie Pie" She saw the perfect gift, a party bomb. "Yes, she has a party cannon, but I've never seen her with a party bomb" Rarity said to herself as she bought the present. "Okay, now I only need Spike's... oh! almost forget Sweetie Belle's" Rarity said, running through Ponyville.
"What would Spike like?" Rarity asked herself. "That's it! gems!" Rarity said as she ran back to her own boutique, but she stopped in the middle of the way. "Before I forget, I better get Sweetie Belle's" She said and started thinking again. "I guess I'll give her a dress too."
Hearths warming's hype had already passed, new year's celebrations too, but that's why Rarity was so happy. She could finally have a free day at the spa with one of her best friends; Twilight Sparkle. That day, Rarity woke up in a good mood, and Sweetie Belle, unusually, was still in bed. Her older sister stopped by seeing Sweetie so sweetly fallen asleep, and decided to make her some breakfast. After one hour, Sweetie Belle finally woke up, and even if her breakfast was a little cold, she enjoyed it more than when she had to eat burned orange juice for breakfast, or even french toasts burned into liquid state.
"Are you enjoying your breakfast, dear" Rarity asked with a calm smile. "Sure I am, this is delicious!" Sweetie exclaimed and ate more. "I'm happy you like it... It's been a while since you and I don't talk" Rarity reminded her. "Yeah, but don't worry, I understand you can get a little busy with the new boutique, and even more if its opening was just a day before Hearth's Warming Eve" Sweetie explained comprehensively.
A little silence came to the room, Sweetie had her reasons to be in silence; she was eating. But Rarity instead, didn't know what to say, her sister was being so kind and comprehensive with her, and in payment for that, she was going to spend a spa day with somepony else.
"And, what have you been doing?.. you and the crusaders, I mean" Rarity asked awkwardly. "Well, we haven't done any crusading yet, since we've got our cutie marks, we have nothing to crusade for" Sweetie answered a little nostalgic. "But you're still friends, you still hang out together, right?" "Of course we do, we go drink some milkshakes and ask Pinkie weird stuff, but y'know, it's not the same" Sweetie Belle finally said, finishing her breakfast in one last bite. "I see, once you've accomplished the only thing you've been crusading for, you find no reason to crusade ever again..." Rarity said, thinking in a way to cheer her sister up. "Yes, that's exactly what happened" "But, what if you find a new reason to crusade, then you can be the 'Insert thingy hereCrusaders'!" Rarity proposed jolly. "Yeah! that's an awesome idea Rare!" Sweetie Belle said, rushing out of the boutique in search of her other two friends; Applebloom and Scootaloo.
Rarity got up to her room and put her makeup on BEFORE doing her mane, she'd learnt the lesson since what happened in Manehattan. Once her mane and makeup were ready, she got downstairs to find a not-so-baby dragon looking through her window. She opened the door to let him in, but he didn't look at all as the Spike that Rarity knew and loved.
As a friend.
"Spikey-wikey? is that you?" Rarity asked with a surprised smile. "Yes, it's me. I guess the gems are making their effect, but I still haven't gotten my wings" Spike answered, looking at his wingless back. "Oh don't worry Spikey, you still look gorgeous, and actually, look how fast you are growing, you are taller than me, even if you step on your four hooves, I mean, claws!"Rarity exclaimed, noticing that Spike now had to walk in his four claws because he was too tall for the roof of the boutique. "Yeah, I did grow a lot..." Spike said and blushed, he didn't know why. "And, what brings you here?" Rarity asked, happy to see his friend, but a little curious because she was supposed to see him later. "Well, I had to practice walking with such a big body; and also Twilight asked me to tell you that she won't be able to go to the spa today, but that we'll be glad to receive your visit at the castle" Spike said with a paper in one of his claws, that seemed as a message that Twilight had written. "Oh, uh, thank you Spike, and of course I'll go to the castle, same hour then?" Rarity asked. "Actually, if you want of course, I would like to know if you would come with me" Spike said a little nervous. "Go where?" Rarity asked, it was obvious that she didn't get the fact that Spike was inviting her to a date. "I have a surprise prepared for you... Y-you can say no if you don't want to come-" Spike tried to say, but Rarity interrupted. "I'd love to" Rarity said and walked next to Spike out of the boutique.
They were both silently walking through ponyville, their awkward silence was only broken when some random pony asked Spike about his fast growth, but despite those interruptions, none of them spoke to each other. Rarity didn't speak because her mind was too busy full of thoughts such as 'Since when Derpy and Doctor Whooves are dating?' or 'Why is Pinkie writing a letter that starts with *Dear princess Luna*?'. Spike, by the other side, didn't speak because he was so nervous about how would Rarity react to his surprise. When they finally got to the place Spike said he was hiding his surprise, all that Rarity could see was a group of disorganized candles, all from different shape and color, but what Rarity couldn't get to understand, was that his surprise came with a little fire. Spike walked up to the last candle, and blew a little flame, but that was enough for the first candle to turn on, and as a domino game, every other candle turned on as dancing flowers moved by a gentle spring wind. After every candle was turned on, Rarity noticed some candles had green flames, like the ones Spike made, but others had common orange flames. Rarity stood there staring at the candles for a while, but then she discovered that the green flames were in order to write a message.
"Rarity, you are the love of my life, the flame in my candles, the fire of my heart. For that and more, will you be mine?" Rarity said, reading the message written with candles. Spike looked at her, not walking next to her, without saying a word, because everything was already said.
"S-Spike, I-I don't know what to say... I kinda knew you had a crush on me, but that was f-five years ago... I thought you would grow out of it" Rarity started, but Spike's smile was already erase from his face "You are the only dragon I know, and my best friend... I remember one day I told you that if I ever met a stallion of my age that was as kind and generous as you, I wouldn't doubt on marrying him, a-and here you are, grown up, and with this beautiful message" Spike smiled again, but not so sure of what was she saying next "I'm so sorry" Rarity finally said, as a few tears rushed through her cheeks and she ran away. Away from her feelings, away from decisions, away from answers. "Rarity, wait!" Spike yelled, as he ran behind her, but it was to late, she was already out of Spike's sight. "What was I thinking?.. such a beautiful mare like her would never love some... some dragon like me" Spike said, and he also started crying.
When Rarity got home, she found Sweetie Belle and the rest of the Crusaders, but when Sweetie saw her older sister crying, she asked her friends to leave. "Sorry guys, but I'll see you tomorrow at the clubhouse, I hope you understand" She said, pointing her crying sister, the other fillies nodded and they both got out of the boutique. Rarity got closer to her sister and hugged her as she kept on crying. "What's wrong sis? did some mean stallion hurt your feelings?" Sweetie said, getting mad with whoever hurt Rarity's feelings. "ihh ihh... nooh ihh ihh" Rarity tried to say, among sobs. "No?" Sweetie asked a little surprised. "Then what is? what haves you crying so badly?" Sweetie Belle asked. " Ihh ihh" Rarity sobbed, but she couldn't answer her younger sister's question. "Can you at least write it?" Sweetie Belle asked, getting bored of her sister's sobs, but still worried for her feelings.
Rarity nodded and she raised a paper and a quill with her magic, looking just like Twilight. She wrote all what happened, about how Spike had grown, and the message in the candles, and Rarity's answer to Spike's confession, and when she finished writing, she gave the paper to Sweetie Belle, who had to read it. "So you are crying because you hurt Spike's feelings? Shouldn't Spike be the one crying?" Sweetie Belle asked, but that only made her sister cry even harder. After a few minutes, Rarity calmed down and she cleaned the tears from her cheeks, but that only made her makeup look even worse, to the point that she had black cheeks. "I know I shouldn't be the one crying, b-but all this time Spike had been in love of me and I was just too blind for noticing it. And now I have to go to the castle, where he lives, may Celestia know what am I supposed to tell him!" Rarity finally explained. "Well, you didn't really say 'No', you just said 'I'm sorry' and ran away, that doesn't mean you were rejecting his love, just tell him you are going to think about it" Sweetie Belle said, trying to help her sister. "That is such a wonderful idea! Thanks darling, I'm heading to the castle right now" Rarity said, walking to the door, but Sweetie stopped her. "Maybe you should fix your makeup before somepony else sees you like that" Her sister said, and Rarity terrified about the mistake she was about to do.
Meanwhile, Spike had been in the same spot crying and burning flowers, when a little brown colt walked close to him. "Woah, are you a dragon?!" He said, thinking that dragons could only get close to any village in video games. "Yes... Don't you see?" Spike answered, a little annoyed. "And what are you doing?" The little colt asked, sitting next to Spike. "Thinking." Spike said, taking another flower from the floor and burning it. "That's curious, I came here to think too... What's your name?" The colt asked. "I'm Spike, and yours?" Spike asked, cheering up a little. "Button Mash, but you can call me Button" Button Mash said. "So... You came here to think, about what?" Spike asked to Button. "I've been hanging out with a filly lately, and she's really pretty, and everytime I'm with her, her friends are with us, so I wanted to ask her out, only the two of us, but everytime I'm alone with her, the words go out of my mind and I blush as a tomato... Please don't laugh" Button explained, and Spike was happy to hear his story. "Go for her, bro" Spike said, smiling "If you wait too much, she'll never take you serious" Spike continued, but his smile changed until there was no smile in his face. "I see, you're here because of a mare too, right?" Button said, and Spike pointed the candle message. "I've loved her since the moment I first saw her, five years ago, and she has never taken me serious... But don't worry about the sad old dragon... Who is this little filly you're crushed with?" Spike explained. "Hey, of course I'll worry, we're now friends, aren't we? And in answer to your question, her name is Sweetie Belle" Button said. "Sweetie Belle, you mean Rarity's sister?!" Spike said surprised. "Uh... yes, why do you ask?" Button said confused. "Don't you see, the message is for Rarity!" Spike said, pointing at the message.
Button Mash started crumbling, lost in his thoughts with a scared look in his face.
"Hey bud, why are you crumbling?" Spike asked, relaxing again. "What if Sweetie Belle is just like Rarity and she rejects me as Rarity rejected you?" Button explained. "No offense" "Uh, not taken, and also, I don't think Sweetie would do such thing, she's different to her sister, and you are not a dragon" Spike said, pointing his body with one claw. "Hey, being a dragon is not that bad, you're awesome!" "Thanks, but go for her now, before it's too late" Spike encouraged him, as Button Nodded and ran for his filly.
Button Mash left Spike thinking alone again, and he decided to go back to the castle. When he arrived, he felt very hungry, and something in the castle got his attention.
"Crystal... Can crystals be considered gems?" He asked to himself, as he walked to the closest wall. "This is shinny, and smells like a diamond or a ruby" He said, as he examined the crystal wall. He licked it, and the flavor drew a pleasant smile in Spike's face. "This tastes like sapphires!" He exclaimed. "Now how the hay am I supposed to bite a wall?!" "TWILIGHT!! ARE YOU HOME?!" He had to make sure, and then he walked to a corner, where a pointed crystal stood out of the others, he bit the peak and ate it, a feeling of satisfaction reached his stomach. "Nopony can know" He said, and rushed to his room. He locked the door and continued eating, and for no reason he was going out that day.
Rarity had fixed herself and headed to Twilight's castle, she walked to the castle library and found Twilight and Pinkie reading. The scene in front of her eyes would look very normal for anypony else, but for Rarity, who had been spending her days with Pinkie Pie since five years ago, a lot of things were different, she just couldn't put her hoof in it.
"Uh, hello" Rarity said walking closer to her two friends.
"Hi Rarity!" Pinkie said in a bubbly tone raising her face from the book she was reading.
"Hi" Twilight said, putting her book apart.
"What were you doing?" Rarity asked, even though that was an obvious question.
"Rarity, thanks Celestia you asked! I've been waiting to tell anypony more than Twilight about this!" Pinkie said, rushing to a window of the castle and grabbing a telescope.
"Well dear, your waiting is over, tell me!" Rarity said, following Pinkie to the spot on the window, but she arrived too late, for now Pinkie was in the other side of the room writing some stuff.
"Princess Luna chose me as her student, I'm studying astrology now!" Pinkie said, showing her sky map to Rarity. "I just discovered five new stars, and I named them like the five of you!"
"Oh, yes, I see, you called it Rarity, thanks darling!" Rarity said, putting her hoof in one of the stars from Pinkie's map.
"I have to say I'm very proud of her, I never knew she could take something so serious" Twilight Sparkle said, checking Pinkie's discoveries.
"I guess somepony has to write a letter about the new star Apple Jack" Twilight finished, turning around to see Pinkie, who widened her eyes in surprise.
"It's true, she still doesn't know about Flutter-star and Apple Jack" Pinkie said, and started writing, but something stopped her. "And where's Spike, by the way?" Pinkie asked. "I can't send this if he's not here"
"I haven't seen him since this morning, he told me he was going to your boutique, Rarity, do you know what happened to him?" Twilight said, and Rarity's face filled with cold sweat.
"I-I... " Rarity started, but she didn't want to tell her she had just broken Spike's heart
"You..?" Twilight insisted.
"He... kind of finally confessed his crush to me, but I... couldn't... I..." Rarity did her best to explain, but that just put things worse.
"HE FINALLY DID?!" Pinkie exclaimed in surprise and the ink she was using was all over the letter she wrote thanks to an abrupt reaction to Rarity's explanation.
"Yeah... but I didn't know what to say, so I just ran away... Anyways, I really don't want to talk about that" Rarity said and lowered her ears.
"Then what do you want to talk about?" Pinkie said, writing her letter all over again. She sighed "Ugh, now I have to write this again, I don't even remember what I was going to tell her."
"You were about to tell her of those two new stars, and actually, if you find not a problem, I'd like to know how were you chosen to be Princess Luna's astrology student" Rarity said, finally taking seat in a couch next to Twilight.
"Oh well, it was the second day you were gone, and Twilight and I were talking about the importance of having communication with your friends, so I decided to write a letter to every friend I have in Equestria, that was not an easy task, but at last, I did it, unfortunately, only Princess Luna and Cheese Sandwich answered my letters... Anyways, I kept writing to both of them, and eventually, Princess Luna told me she always wanted to have a student like Princess Celestia, so I told her if I could be her student, and now I have to notify her about my new discoveries and read a whole lot of books, but it's very funny!" Pinkie said it all at once and when she finished she took a long breath.
"Oh..." Rarity said, and as sudden as a lightning an idea came to her mind. "Pinkie, could you tell me more about the Choosing Stone?" She said, and Twilight and Pinkie looked at her with wide eyes.
"The Choosing Stone? You mean my family's relic? Sure!" Pinkie said, and turned her chair around so she could face both Rarity and Twilight. "Alright, the Choosing Stone is an old boulder that has been in my family for tons of generations, almost since the creation of Equestria; It has the ability to change color depending on the pony that touches it, and as soon as the color has changed, the cutie mark of the pony that other pony is destined to marry will appear, as simple as that. Of course there can be some complications, because if the pony who touches it is not supposed to marry anypony, the same cutie mark will appear from the last pony who touched it, so it should be very recommendable that somepony married touches it first so, if it's the case, you could at least know it's not your destiny"
"Huh... That sounds so beautiful... Have you ever touched it?" Rarity asked.
"Nopperonni! I wouldn't do such thing, anyways, I wouldn't like such spoiler about my life... Why do you ask?" Pinkie said, in her usual cheerful tone.
"Well, I may consider touching it someday-" Rarity started, but what she was going to say after that will always be a mystery.
"Great! We should go to the rock farm tomorrow!" Pinkie exclaimed.
"Wow, Pinkie, don't you think that's a little bit rushed" Twilight said, raising her right hoof.
"It's okay Twi, there's nothing to keep me here, anyway" Rarity muttered with a british melody always stucked in her tongue.
"Very well then, I'll get prepared for the trip, do you want to come with us, Twilight?" Pinkie asked.
"Not really, but I know about some dragon that'll love to go with you" Twilight said smiling peacefully.
"Alright, see you tomorrow at the train station!" Pinkie said walking out of the library with her telescopes and star maps.
"I'll have to go too" Rarity said, but Twilight stopped her.
"Wait, remember I had something important to tell you!" Twilight said. "The letter I wrote when you were in Manehattan."
"Oh yeah, how can I be so forgetful! Tell me please, what is it so important?"
"I've seen Spike and you are getting closer, and with this you tell me, that he confessed his loved, I just want to ask you, friend to friend, please take care of his heart, I'd hate to see him suffer" Twilight said, changing her face expression for first time that day.
Rarity started walking to the door. "I'll be even more hurt than him, Twi, but I don't need to tell you, you already know that."
Rarity woke up ready for what ever that day brought her. She had decided to let a rock decide who she was supposed to marry; some years ago, she would've said that was insane, and would've said no immediately to any comment of that matter, but so many things had happened recently that made her change her mind drastically, not only that she had nopony to be with, but that breaking a dragon's heart got to break her heart too.
"Don't worry Rarity, it's like getting another cutie mark, just another part of your... destiny." Rarity said to herself, slipping out of the silk blankets.
She tried to make her usual hairdo, but destiny made her have a bad mane day. She got tired of trying to fix her disastrous mane and simply did a ponytail.
"I-It doesn't look that bad..." She complained, examining her mane closely.
After forty five minutes of her usual morning rutine, she was ready to go. The fancy unicorn got downstairs to get some light breakfast before the trip to Pinkie's Family farm.
"Are you sure you don't want to come with us, Sweetie?" The purple maned unicorn asked to her little sister.
"And missing the chance of more crusading with my friends? No thanks" Sweetie Belle said. "After all, you'll be back tonight, won't you?"
"Yes of course... See you soon then" Rarity said, and walked to Twilight's Castle, where she was suposed to meet with Pinkie Pie and Spike.
When she arrived to the entrance to the castle her hooves stopped right in front of the door, unable to do any other movement.
"Sweet Celestia! I don't know what to do, I'm so nervous" She said as her body started to tremble, she weakly managed to raise her hoof and knock the door.
On the other side of the door, Pinkie Pie, Spike and Twilight Sparkle, who Spike convinced to go, were waiting for any disturbance in their coordinate breathings.
"She's here" Pinkie shouted in Spike's and Twilight's annoyance. Both of them jumped in their placed by the sudden change in the calm of the place.
"Fine, I'll open the door" Pinkie got up of her seat, and made a reverence "My princess." Pinkie knew well that Twilight got really mad when anypony called her princess, but she got even more angry if one of her closest friends, like her, called her that way. Saying this, Twilight got up too, and without any word to be said, both ponies raced to the door to see who opened it first. Twilight won.
"Hey! No fair!" Pinkie complained "You used your magic, it's like trying to race a flying Rainbow Dash." That argument could've worked with any pony but with Pinkie, since she has proved that she could run as fast as Rainbow Dash could fly, or even more.
"Am I interrupting something important?" Rarity said, while her friends chattered about what was fair and what wasn't.
Both of them stopped arguing with wide eyes. It was impossible to tell why were they so surprised, since the origin of the race was opening the door, so Rarity could come in, and somehow, Rarity caught the two friends in surprise.
"N-No, Not at all, please come in" Twilight said, walking back so Rairty could come into the castle. "By the way, after hours of trying, Spike finally convinced me to come with you so, let's go!" Twilight said, once that Rarity entered the castle.
"If you wanted to go so quickly, why did you let me in?" Rarity said, getting out of the castle, again.
Twilight lowered her ears "Sorry" She said with a humiliated smile.
And like that, the group of ponies -and a dragon- walked to the train station with fresh morning conversations.
"Sooo" Pinkie said, sitting in an empty wagon, her friends followed her.
"So what?" Rarity asked.
"I have the greatest idea for a new game we could all play here in the train" Pinkie shouted, and a few sleepy ponies that had gotten into the wagon groaned.
"Oh yeah? what makes it so great" Spike asked, poking Pinkie with his elbow.
"Easy; All of us are going to take a look at the choosing stone, aren't we?" She stopped and her friends nodded. " What if, before we take a look, we try to guess who we are going to marry!" Pinkie finished, everypony loved the idea.
"Okay, who's first?" Twilight asked, grinning.
"Why, you of course" Rarity replied, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Me? Why me?" Twilight asked, rubbing her cheek with her wings in act of flattering.
"Oh Twilight, because you asked, those are the rules" Pinkie said, and the unicorn and the dragon nodded in agree.
"Ow... I see..." Twilight Sparkle started thinking. "I have no idea, uhm, Flash Sentry, maybe" She said, with an apparent blush that she covered with her wings.
"That's so cute! Twilight has a crush!" Rarity said grinning.
"You're next" Spike said, pointing Pinkie with his right claw.
"Uh oh... Well, as you see... it's quite apparent that... in fact... as you may think..." Pinkie stared at the window blushed "Cheese Sandwich?" She muttered.
"What was that?" Rarity said, raising her ears closer to Pinkie.
"I-I said... Ch-Cheese Sandwich" She said and covered her blushing face with both of her hooves. Rarity and Spike exchanged looks.
"Toldja" Spike said, and Rarity smiled.
"Well played, little dragon" The white unicorn replied, clapping her hooves.
"It's your turn" Pinkie exclaimed, as if she had never told anything about her crush.
"Oh, dear, I think Spike wants to go first" Rarity replied, pulling Spike in front with her magic.
"I don't think it's a secret that I'm in love with Rarity, but it will remain a mystery who am I supposed to marry, probably no pony... since... I don't think I could love any pony else than her." Spike said, ignoring completely every glance Rarity dedicated to him.
"I guess it's now my turn" Rarity said, awkwardly. "I don't know, really, you can guess any pony, but I have no idea"
"Lookie everypony, we're here!" Pinkie smirked at the sight of the rock farm.
The group of friends got out of the train and stepped in the desert train station that was only used when ponies traveled to the rock farm, or one member of the Pie family had to travel somewhere, since there was no other place or houses nearby. They walked to the rock farm with Pinkie in the front. It was impossible to get lost there, the ground was all flat, and the only things on sight were the train station, rocks, and Pinkie's house, along with dry trees and more rocks; most of ponies that had been there would even call it a depressive place. When they reached the house, Maud Pie got out to welcome them, and Pinkie's mother was inside the house looking for the choosing stone. The group of friends greeted the family, and Maud let them in.
"Hi mommy! May I ask, how did you know we were looking for the choosing stone?" Pinkie said as she stepped in, followed by her friends and her sister.
"Princess Twilight Sparkle sent a letter yesterday saying that you were coming today, so I fixed the place as much as I could, but I simply can't find that damn rock!" Pinkie's mother, Cloudy Quartz, explained, and then she walked in front of Twilight and made a reverence. "I hope it doesn't bother you, Princess"
"N-No, it doesn't bother me, thank you so much for your hospitality" Twilight replied shyly.
"Mom! I found it!" Limestone Pie said, walking out of the kitchen raising the small rock with one of her hooves, she had her hoof covered with one piece of fabric, so she wouldn't accidentally touch it and find out her future fiance's identity. She stopped surprised in sight of the purple alicorn, she made a reverence just like her mother did, then got up and said. "Sorry for the noise, Princess, here's the Choosing stone." Giving the rock to Twilight, who took it with the fabric so she wouldn't spoil herself either.
"Th-Thanks" Twilight replied.
"Is there anything else I can help with, Princess Twilight Sparkle?" Limestone asked, as serious as she could, but deeply inside herself, she was mad with her sister. 'How could Pinkamena be friends with a princess, and not me?!' She thought.
"Yes! Actually, this is something very important, and you totally need to help me!" Twilight replied, and Limestone said that she could ask for anything. "Then I'll ask you, Could you please call me just Twilight?"
"For sure, Twilight" Limestone and Cloudy Quartz replied, relaxing themselves, since the princess they had in their house was not hateful at all.
Marble Pie came into the living room, with slow steps so she wouldn't bother the princess. Her mother advertised of her presence and called for her.
"Marble, come here, it's time now for all of you to touch the Choosing Stone" Quartz said, pulling her youngest daughter close to her.
"Can I ask, why must all of Pinkie's sisters be here?" Rarity asked, trying to be as kind as possible, but it was hard to feel comfortable next to The Pie family.
"Miss Rarity, it's tradition, all of the daughters of the same family must touch the Choosing Stone the same day, and since Pinkamena brought all of you here, I supose she is going to touch it too, which means all of my daughters must do the same" Quartz answered, showing herself severe for the first time in Twilight's presence.
"So... Who's gotta find out first?" Limestone said, bored about so much chattering.
"Thanks Celestia you asked, the tradition implies that the elder daughter must be the first one" Quartz replied, taking the Choosing Stone with her bare hooves, and the cutie mark of Igneus Rock, her husband, appeared magically.
"Now, I must remind you; One: NO matter if you don't recognize the owner of the cutie mark, you will, eventually; Two: If you're not supposed to marry anypony, your father's cutie mark will appear, like this" She said, pointing the image of the rock " And Three: if nothing happens, or if the Choosing Stone turns blank as if nopony was touching it, then that means you are going to marry a non-pony creature" She said, finally giving the rock to her daughter.
The cutie mark remained intact, that meant Limestone Pie was not supposed to marry anypony, she smiled, as if she didn't care, but she was feeling so desolated in the inside that she ran to her room and locked the door.
"Looks like I'm next" Maud said, inexpressive.
"Yes, you are" Quartz replied, picking the stone and hoofing it to her next daughter. The image of an unknown cutie mark appeared, it looked like a single apple, not three like Applejack's cutie mark.
"I see" She said. "I hope we get along" Maud finished, inexpressive as always. "If you excuse me, I have to make sure Limestone's okay" Maud left, giving the stone back to her mother.
"Isn't that Braeburn's cutie mark?" Twilight whispered and Spike nodded.
"Pinkamena Diane Pie, you are next" Quartz said, and the ponies in the room got closer, since everyone was interested in Pinkie's future. Pinkie took the stone carefully with both of her front hooves, and the apple disappeared, as another image appeared. The image of a grilled cheese sandwich with the shape of an acordeon appeared in the flat stone, Pinkie sighed.
"Cheese Sandwich" She said happily "I'm going to marry Cheese Sandwich!"
"Marble, dear, you are next" Quartz said, and Marble replied Mh-hm. She took the Stone and the image of another apple appeared, but this time it was green and sliced through the half.
"Big Mac" She muttered, and Quartz squealed happily.
"That seems to clear all of our doubts, the Apples are not family, at least not until Marble marries this Big Macintosh" Cloudy Quartz said, pushing her glasses up her nose, something that ponies with glasses are very used to do. "Now, who of you is the eldest one?"
"I am, Ms. Pie" Twilight said, stepping forward.
"Please, you can call me Cloudy Quartz Pie" Ms. Pie said.
"I'm pretty flattered, but I insist, Ms. Pie" Twilight said, taking the rock for finishing with the short conversation. The image of Flash Sentry's cutie mark showed up, and a blush dashed through Twilight Sparkle's cheeks.
"You were right, just like me!" Pinkie said; she had been jumping of happiness all around the room.
"Yeah, I guess" Twilight said, dreamy.
"Mr... Dragon, you seem to be next" Cloudy Quartz said, thinking that Spike was actually older that Rarity.
"N-No, no, my friend Rarity is older than me" Spike exclaimed, pushing Quartz' hooves back, careful not to touch the Choosing Stone.
"He's right" Rarity said, and Cloudy gave the stone carefully.
What happened there had never happened; First, there was a little boom, almost imperceptible, then the Choosing Stone broke out on fire, but for Rarity's surprise, the flames were green, and they weren't real, they actually were a moving image inside the Stone, and when the flames turned off, the image left was a letter surrounded by the same colored flames.
"Hum, Ms. Cloudy Quartz Pie, not that I didn't pay attention to your explanation, but what does that mean?" Twilight said, clueless.
"I don't know, it has never happened... I'm truly sorry, Miss Rarity, I guess you'll have to wait until you marry" Quartz explained, finding the group of friends a little odd, now that she thought so deeply.
"Well, looks that this thing doesn't work on you, Rares, but I guess it's my turn" Spike said, taking the choosing stone out of Rarity's hoof, expecting that the stone turned blank, in sign that he was supposed to marry a non-pony creature, but the cutie mark that appeared left everypony astonished.
"Rarity?" He said, and turned around to see the owner of the cutie mark he had in the stone.
"Yes... Spike?" Rarity said, understanding that those flames she saw were actually Spike's true talent, but another doubt popped up on her head.
"Ms Quartz Pie, you said that if we are supposed to marry a non-pony creature, the stone would turn blank, why did it turned all fire-ish and weird when I touched it?" Rarity questioned.
"I know the answer of this one, and since Ms. Quartz has no idea, I'll explain it: Spike was exposed to an insane cuantity of magic when he was born, and he was raised by ponies (my family and me) so that makes him have an special true talent, even though he isn't a pony, he has a spiritual cutie mark, since it's impossible for him to have a physical one." Twilight explained, and every pony looked at her with wide eyes.
"O...kay" Rarity and Spike replied confused, but not as much as Cloudy Quartz.
"I... I'll go to see if Limestone Pie is fine" Quartz said, disappearing behind the door of Limestone's room.
"This... turned out well" Pinkie said. "Why don't we all go back to ponyville?"
"I am so confused... why not?" Spike said, and they all went back to the empty train station, and took the first train that could drop them in ponyville.
"Am I the only one that felt extremely awkward?" Twilight asked.
"No, we all felt that way" Pinkie said, looking at the window. "We didn't even say goodbye"
"Aww, Pinkie, don't feel so bad, you can always write them a letter" Twilight said, embracing her pink body with her wing.
"Yeah... Pinks, do you think we can change places?" Spike asked, since he felt very weird sitting next to Rarity, but for his luck, Pinkie had already fallen asleep under Twilight's wing.
"What's wrong Spike?"Rarity asked, since it was obvious that Spike didn't want to go next to her.
"N-Nothing" Spike said blushing. "I just wanted to know what was Twilight reading"
"You could've just asked me, I'm reading Pinkie's star reports, she's an awesome astrologist" Twilight said, raising the book she had with her magic.
"Spikey, can I sleep on you, I'm very tired" Rarity said, and Spike nodded, letting Rarity lay her head in his shoulder.
"Goodnight, Rarity" He said, falling asleep as well.
"You weren't asleep, were you?" Twilight said, turning down to see the pony under her wing.
"Noperoni! But those two really needed a little push" Pinkie answered, getting off Twilight's wing.
"Actually, you were kinda warm, and I forgot to bring my blanket" Twilight said, pulling Pinkie back to her sleeping position.
"Sure... Well, tomorrow's a new day" Pinkie said, this time really falling asleep in her friend's lap.
"Though you'll have to wake up for getting off the train... whatever, I'll take you home with my magic" Twilight said, more to herself than to Pinkie, and closed her eyes thinking of the days she was destined to spend with her future husband; Flash Sentry.
