> Coming Home > by BlueSkies1989 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > An Empty Space > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a groggy and dreary morning. Sunset Shimmer had awoken feeling fatigued and tired, then it hit her. Monday, it was Monday. She laid staring at the ceiling. She didn't hate Monday, but she didn't like it as much as Friday. She turned over on the right side of her bed, and nearly dozed off until she took a glimpse of her alarm clock. "7:30! My alarm clock didn't go off!" With that, Sunset raced out of bed and ran to the bathroom to get ready, within five minutes she was dressed, brushed, and ready to go. She ran outside and hopped in her car, hoping she could make it in time. Sunset managed to make it to school with ten minutes to spare, as she got out of her car she saw Rarity heading inside. She waved he hand to get her attention and said, "Hey, Rarity!" Rarity responded with a wave and generous smile. Sunset ran to her side and asked, "Did you just get here?" Rarity yawned in response, "Yes, and it's because I didn't get my normal beauty sleep, I was up trying to get my Winter Chic line finished. Oh, I do hope my customers will like them." Sunset noted the dark circles under Rarity's eye's, that did indeed indicate she was up late. But since this was Rarity, she knew she could do it. "Of course they'll love them Rarity! I mean, they're made by you! Why wouldn't they like them?" Rarity replied back in a hug, and said, "Ooooh! You really have changed for the better Sunset! Thank You!" As they reached the entrance of Canterlot High they both said goodbye, as they went to their first class. Then, with two minutes left to spare, Sunset made it to class with enough time to take her seat. She sat down as her English Language Arts teacher Ms. Sunny Skies, was passing out an assignment. "Today class we will all be doing a Personal Narrative!" The entire class groaned, but Ms. Skies still held her smile. "Our Personal Narratives today will be about an experience in your life where you acted disrespectful, or bad, and did something to change it, or make it better again." Sunset almost froze to that statement, since Ms. Skies was a new teacher, she didn't know about the past of Sunset Shimmer. After school was out, Sunset just decided to go back home immediately. But first, she decided to do a journal entry. She walked over to the Pegasus statue and sat down with back against it. She wrote: Dear Princess Twilight, I hope you're doing fine, life's been great here in our world, but I still miss Equestria. The reason I wanted to write to you was because I have a small problem in ELA. We're doing a Personal Narrative where we have to write about a bad life experience, and how we changed it for the better. I mean, I know I could write about my past in this world, but what about Equestria? Sincerely, Sunset Shimmer Sunset lifted the book from her lap and sat it on the grass, she then mumbled, " Better go home," When Sunset arrived home back at her apartment, she immediately went to bed, as she face planted into the bed with book still in her hand, it started to glow and shake. It was a message from Twilight. Dear Sunset, I see what you mean, it would sound crazy if you had mentioned that you were a pony in Equestria. But seeing with what has happened in the past, not entirely crazy. It's confusing, I know, but letting that get in the way of your assignment can't be much of a problem, can it? Somebody once told me that one person can't have all the answers, and they're right. I hope you can see fit and fix the problem, I hope to visit soon. Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle As Sunset finished reading, she groaned, "But that still doesn't answer my question.'' She was too exhausted to write back, so she went ahead and fell asleep with the book in her hands, "What do I do now?" She moaned. Her eyes then widened, she turned on her back and lifted the book in front of her face. "That's it!" If she wanted to make amends back home in Equestria just like the human world, she would have to go back to Equestria! Sunset got up early and went straight to packing her backpack, the essentials she needed for back home: an Equestria map, Star Swirl The Bearded's Book of Spells, and a dusty bag of bits. She couldn't wait to go back to Equestria, but something, or some kind of voice in her head was telling her not to go. She decided to ignore it, but it still bothered her. Sunset Shimmer arrived early in the school yard before sunrise, she then cautiously approached the Canterlot High statue and made sure no one spotted her. She stared at the portal and carefully placed her hand on it to make sure it was open, to her satisfactory, it was. The voice in her head started to go off again, but she didn't listen. She then stepped into the portal without a second thought. While she was in the portal, she had forgotten how weird it felt going from one dimension to another. It was like being sucked from one vacuum cleaner into another one, but she stayed calm. When she was out of the portal, she was happy to feel her hooves on the ground again.
