A Day To Remember
By: Carmack21

The bright and generous sun was fading behind the tree dotted horizon, a marvellous sight to behold.

The fading waves pierced through the cloud castle of Rainbow Dash, landing rays on her unopened eyes. By this time everyday she was usually asleep, but today was beyond different. A full day of clearing the skies, and the advanced training routine, made her plum tuckered.

Although she could feel the ray, she didn't want to wake up, she needed this, she craved this. Although the spot upon which the ray laid was starting to become warmer and warmer, until she could bear no more. She slightly opened her eyes to peer in the room she laid down in.

Just the same old same o.... Her brain trailed off when she turned and was looking into Twilight Sparkle's eyes, well one eye which was magnified by the spy glass she used to observe the rainbow colored pegasus.

"AHHHHHHHHH!" The surprised pegasus jumped upwardly. She flapped her wings at such a speed that it could have probably blown away her cloud home, had it not been for the magical anchor which held it fast.

"Oh, I woke you, I'm sorry Dashie." The intruder said with a regretful tone.

"Twilight, how are you..... How did you..... How long have you been here and how are you able to be here?" The astonished rainbow-maned pegasus asked.

"I'm sorry Dashie, I was just trying to observe a pegasus in their natural habitat." The lavender coated pony replied.

The two were still locking eyes as the pegasus landed on here cloud home's floor.

"Uhm, Twilight why are you here, I mean how are you standing on a cloud, only pegasus ponies can?" said Rainbow Dash.

"Well I’ll answer your first question 'why' I am here. Queen Celestia asked me too study a friend in their natural habitat, and well I'd figure your the one too study becau-" The unicorn was cut off by here friend.

"Because I'm 20% cooler than everyone else, and I’m just awesome!" Stated the boastful pegasus pompously, all too aware of her accomplishments.

"I'm sorry Rainbow, that’s not why" said the lavender pony, still smiling.

The pegasus pony's body went limp against her cloud's home furniture.

"Well you see Rainbow, I couldn't have observed Rarity she would have acted differently if she knew I was trying to observe her, you know, acted as though she was on Equestria reality show. Applejack was way too busy to observe, she needed to concentrate on her work. Fluttershy was too scared too observe, and she doesn't really do much." a quizzical frown crossed the mares face, "And then there's Pinkie Pie. I've already tried once to explain her, but it's impossible. So that just left you. The speedster, the daredevil, the lo-" she stopped in her tracks to take a quick second too think, to cover what she almost stated. "The looker-to for questions on wonderbolt history." she said at last.

"I am pretty smart, maybe you should become my understudy and learn from a real teacher!" said the pompous pony, once again standing proud.

"Maybe later, but to answer your second question 'how', remember the best flyers competition, how Rarity had the wings which made all the colt pegasus fall heads over heels, well I've changed it a little, and well," she said turning side ways to reveal her hidden secret to her friend.

At the sight of the unicorn’s secret the pegasus' mouth gapped in awe. Her once restricted to land friend now had a pair of beautiful lavender wings.

"Now since you know, I might as well tell you've what I've observed." said Twilight to the pegasus pony.

The lavender pony explained to her friend what she observed, but all the pegasus was focused on was the new set of wings. They were beyond comprehension; her eyes were focused on them, their every movement.

"And that's when you woke up and saw me studying you." she stated at last.

The pegasus snapped out of her daydreaming state.

"Oh, cool." the pegasus said, still focusing on her friend’s wings. She had to ask her question... "Twilight, wanna go for a race?!" asked the pegasus.

"Rainbow, I just told you I can't, I need to study you in your natural habitat." the lavender pony said.

"Well then," with a burst of energy the pegasus said taking to the sky, "Hope you can keep up!" and with that Dash flew through the door made a 90 degree angle straight up, and flew away from her friend.

Twilight stood solid for a minute, after running the scenario through her head a couple times, she finally understood what to do, OBSERVE. She put her items which scattered the floor in a small pile, then proceeded to put them in her saddle bags, and off she took to catch her friend.

A day to remember part2
By Carmack21

As the two friends danced through the sunsets rays and flew from cloud to cloud in a game of hide and seek, a question encased in the rainbow maned pony’s mind: 'is this a dream? Is it just a tempting dream which made her entire body quiver in excitement?'.

"Rainbow, you need too slow down, I can't keep up" panted Twilight, who wasn’t completely used to her wings and was now lagging behind.

The Rainbow turned her head in the direction of the voice.

"Twilight, if your going to observe me you need to catch me!" she exclaimed with a slight teasing laugh.

The pegasus slowed down and floated for a minute, searching for a lavender dot among the reddish colored clouds, but there was nothing.

"TWILIGHT, WHERE ARE YOU!" Rainbow started to sound a little bit worried. What if she’d lost control and crashed? What if-

Just then, out of nowhere the cyan pegasus was hit by a fast moving object from the cloud above. The object was no other than the one she was searching for.

"GOTCHA!" the lavender pony exclaimed in excitement.

The two friends spiralled downward, both giggling as they fell. The ground was getting closer and closer, yet both were having too much fun to care. A split second before smacking down on the ground the two parted ways and spread their wings wide, causing them to glide to the ground.

"I can't believe you got me." Rainbow said.

"Well when you were too busy looking ahead I flew up-" Twilight was interrupted by Rainbow.

"Ok egghead, I don't need the full explanation." said Rainbow.

The unicorn looked away, a little embarrassed by what her friend had called her.

"But you’re my egghead." said the cyan pegasus, in a soft tone.

This made her feel embarrassed; she too turned away from her friend. Twilight looked over at her, any embarrassment she felt before was now gone, and a small spark of hope ignited in her.

The cyan pony looked back at her friend who now was face to face with her. With out any hesitation the studious unicorn stole a quick peck off the embarrassed cyan pony's cheek, but it ended as quickly as it happened.

"I’m sorry Rainbow." Twilight said, as she once again looked away, knowing what she had just done put her reputation and friendship in question.

The cyan Pegasus rooted to the spot with a 'did that really just happen' look on her face. She snapped out of her entranced look. She rounded on her friend to look her with her eyes.

"I’m sorry Twilight," said Dash as she leaned in and locked lips with her friend.

A few moments passed, Rainbow pulled away and broke the kiss. Rainbow was the first to break the silence,

"So... how about the Wonderbolts?" Rainbow said, not knowing what to say at that awkward moment, but desperate to fill it with something, anything.

The sky lost it's redness and was replaced with the pale glow of a full moon.

"You want to head back to my place and observe me in bed?" asked Rainbow with a teasing grin.

"Let the observation continue!" said the lavender pony excitedly.

Rainbow Dash's eyes perked up at the answer. Was she serious, or was she just teasing her the way she herself had before? Could this be the day in which both ponies share their feelings for one another?

"I, uhm... I...” the lavender pony stammered.

"Twilight Sparkle, are you speechless?!" said the pompous cyan pegasus, with a slight laughing tone. “Don’t worry; I have that effect on a lot of ponies!"

Twilight couldn't lie to her friend; she had to tell her the truth. "I've never been with another pony before, let alone a mare" said Twilight trying to hide her embarrassment.

"Wait you've never been with another pony before?" asked Rainbow seeing that she might have hurt her friend’s feelings.

"Well I've read abo-" Twilight was cut off by her friend.

"Reading is not believing!" said the cyan Pegasus, "Plus, I'll show you a thing or two about it. So you wanna go to Rainbow palace courtesy of yours truly, Rainbow Dash?" Rainbow smirked with a sly and mischievous tone.

"Well Princess Celestia did say observe your friend in their own environment, so I guess that's what I shall do!" Twilight said, with a modest smile. The embarrassment disappeared from the mare's face, now being replaced with anticipation.

With that the two friends rose to the sky and took off too Rainbows cloud home.

While on the way to their destination, Twilight needed to make a quick stop by the library in order to relinquish all her materials that were in her saddle bags.

The two friends came to a glide above the library falling into formation, circling the building three times before landing on the door step. Well, Dash landed. Twilight sort of stumbled into the door.

"Woo now, you don't want to beat my record of crashing into the library, do you?" a laughing Rainbow Dash prodded at the pile of purple on the door step beside her.

"Yea, I'm still getting use too the whole flying stuff." Twilight said in a dazed giggle, while trying to get up.

Before walking into the library the two locked eyes once again. Twilight leaned close to Rainbow before she could react, nudged the rainbow mane aside with her nose, before nibbling her ear.

"Settle down now, you don't want Spike to find out, do you?" remarked Rainbow.

"Alright." Twilight said, kind of saddened by the fact Spike, the Princess, and the mares’ friends couldn't find out about the two of them.

"After you my esteemed guest." Twilight said.

"Oh, no after you." Rainbow said.

"I insi-" Twilight was half way through her sentence, when out of nowhere the door of the library swung open and smacked the lavender pony in the face, leaving a dumbfounded look plastered to her.

"Hello Rainbow Dash, I thought I heard voices out here, have you seen Twilight anywhere?" Spike asked the cyan pony.

Rainbow Dash did the best she could to hide her giggling, she even rose a hoof over her mouth to hide her inner child from bursting out and laughing. After collecting herself she pointed too the door.

"Oh, there you are Twilight. The Princess has been trying to send you a letter of the utmost importance!" the frantic dragon exclaimed.

Twilight shook her head in an attempt too rid the dumbfounded look she previously held.

She looked nervously at the dragon who was now trying to hand her a wrapped parchment. What could this mean, did she not do as the princess commanded, did she fail her task? Or was she getting too close to her friend Rainbow?

She used her unicorn power too lift the parchment, unfurled it, and read what the Princess had written out loud.

'To my most faithful student Twilight Sparkle.

You have done what I've asked of you yet again. I request your presence in Canterlot tonight; to learn of your friend, who you've observed for the last twenty-two hours. Along with you and your friend, the Wonderbolts, my niece, Princess Cadence, and her husband will be joining us for dinner. Please assure me that you will be able too make it.'

'P.S. Spike, I am sorry, but you will need to remain at Ponyville. But don't worry, attached to this letter is another message which will lead you to the Ponyville mines, where I give permission for you to eat as many gems as you wish. Free of charge.'

Rainbow Dash's mouth dropped to the ground at the mention of the Wonderbolts. She was going to be eating dinner with them, one step closer to becoming a Wonderbolt.

'Authors note:
Does anyone else see that Twilight is pretty much using Spike like Email?

To the readers of A Day to Remember, I'm not sure if I should end this story or continue it. Although it's a good story I don't want it to end up like Transcendence story. I'm not sure yet.

A day to remember part 4
By Carmack21

"The Wonderbolts! Oh my gosh, we have to go Twi!" Rainbow said after hearing what the Princess inquired.

"Yes, you should really go!" Spike agreed with Rainbow, as he was trying to push Twilight back out the door. "Plus, I can eat all the gems I want!"

"Hold it you two; we need to prepare for the trip. Also Spike, don't you remember what happened last time when I didn't stop you from eating all that ice cream?" Twilight reminded both her friends.

"That was past Spike, this is future Spike, and future Spike feels perfectly fine!" the purple dragon informed Twilight.

Twilight looked at both her eager friends, who were now grinning from ear to ear jumping up and down.

Rainbow noticed that the lavender coated pony was looking at them and leaned in next to her ear and whispered as to not allow Spike to hear this mystery message. After what seemed like a few seconds Rainbow backed away, satisfied of what she told Twilight.

"Alright, let's go! Help me get my dress from the Grand Galloping Gala and a few other items from my room, and then we will stop by your place and get your dress." Twilight stated, now giggling at what her friend whispered to her.

"Uhm, that's going to be a problem. My dress was kind of destroyed in a washing "accident"." Rainbow remarked to Twilight.

"You put it in with your darks didn't you?" Twilight asked her friend wryly.

"Yes... But doesn't Rarity have duplicates of them?!" the desperate pony pleaded.

"Yes, but don't you think Rarity will question why you need another dress?" Twilight said.

Rainbow looked desperately around the room, her eyes searching for a solution. Just then a voice popped into her head,

"Fluttershy! She knows all about dress making!" Rainbow found her way out.

Twilight thought for a second, weighing the odds that this shy pony would be able to help them.

"Alright, you go see her while I gather the appropriate items we need." Twilight exclaimed as she was reaching for her saddle bags once again.

With that Rainbow tore out the door and raced down the streets of Ponyville at top speed, taking every short cut she could think of. She decided that flying would most likely make her look guilty of something, or she would wake one of the sleeping ponies. Although she could crash into something, but Rainbow Crash, I mean Rainbow Dash never crashes into things.

"Rainbow." a mysterious voice whispered from the shadows of a dark ally that Rainbow passed by.

Rainbow stopped dead in her tracks. Was she just hearing something, or did someone just say her name? She turned to where the voice originated from, but she could not make out a figure in the darkness. She still questioned it though.

"Uhm... Hello?" Rainbow asked the darkness. Seconds passed and still no response.

'Man, I feel like a foal, questioning something that I thought doesn’t exist' Rainbow thought in her head.

"Rainbow Dash, I do exist, and I have much to share with you!" the voice became stricter now, as though it had the tone which seemed it would command the Royal Guard.

"I... Uhm, I'm sorry, but I don't know who you are?" Rainbow used this to her advantage. Find out who this mysterious person was.

"Rainbow Dash, we have meet many moons before, you had freed me from my darkest tomb of regret, and jealousy. You are one of my friends." the mystery pony stepped from the shadows of the ally.

Her star-filled mane spilled around the sides of her pitch black hood. Her face was darkened by the shadows that were cast from the material, and the flickering street lights. All Rainbow was able to make out was two lunar white eyes, a unicorn's horn, and along her back were two slits in the material so as to allow access for her midnight blue wings.

Rainbow quickly realized who this was. She quickly knelt down to show her respect for the mare.

"Sorry Princess Luna, I didn't recognize you at first... I-" Rainbow pleaded, but she was cut off.

"Rainbow Dash, stand and meet me eye to eye. I have knowledge I must share with you." Princess Luna assured her follower, as she removed her hood.

Rainbow stood with her gaze still focusing on the ground. Only when Princess Luna used her hoof to pull Rainbow’s head upward did Dash finally meet the princess' eyes. This was the first time she had ever looked into Princess Luna's eyes. It made her shiver; the thought of so much power seemed meaningless if you couldn't share it with anyone.

"Rainbow Dash, your future seems to be intertwined with a close friend of yours. I know of the invitation you have received from my sister, but I must insist you do not share your feelings for your friend, Twilight Sparkle. My sister mustn't know of this." Princess Luna said. "Oh, and one last thing. Here." she used her magic to create a smoke screen on the ground between the two, and after a second the smoke cleared to reveal a brand new dress was lying on the ground.

"Thank you princess." Rainbow said.

"Now hurry, you don't want to be late for a meeting with a princess do you?" said Luna.

"Right, thank you again, if there's anything I can do for you princess, I'll do it." Rainbow remarked to Luna. And with that the princess allowed her to leave. She darted straight back to the library. Only when she got there did she question how Luna knew she needed a new dress, but the princesses knew all, and her confusion was forgotten when she saw the beautiful mare waiting for her.

"That was quick!" Twilight said to Rainbow as she entered the library.

"Well, Fluttershy had copies of each dress as well for some reason." Rainbow said, trying to hide any mention of the princess.

"Well, that’s kind of creepy." Twilight pondered for a minute, but she still had to gather a few things and there was no time to waste.

"Where’s Spike?" Rainbow said as she looked from corner to corner of the library.

"Well, let's just say future Spike and past Spike aren't going to be feeling so good soon." said the lavender pony, a smile appearing on her face.

A day to remember part 5
By Carmack21

Just the idea that the two friends shared an intimate relationship made Twilight and Rainbow snicker, and made the both ponies feel rebellious. It wasn't wrong to be affectionate towards your own sex, it was just not seen as much, and Twilight never felt this way before, mostly due to her never reaching from behind the pages of her book to feel such an intense feeling.

She felt as though she could float away in the arms of her friend Rainbow, watching her rainbow mane flow in the crisp warm summer night wind. Every flap of her wings matching the smooth rhythm of their two hearts beating. The moons rays dancing off the cyan colored coat, her beautiful rose eyes staring into hers. Just the thought made Twilight giggle even more. The only regret she had was her magic wings had shrunken down into her back. And she couldn't use her magic to make another set for a day or two, since it took so much concentration.

"Twilight, when you gonna make another set of those lovely lavender wings?" Rainbow asked her companion.

"I've already told you I can't for a while, I need to rest my magic, it drains me of my energy." Twilight informed her friend, "Plus, it's sexy how you keep begging me." she added slyly.

Rainbow's face turned the same color as her friend Pinkie Pie’s coat. Twilight took advantage of this chance; she leaned in close to Rainbow and kissed her upon her soft cyan lips. Rainbow was caught off guard, she started losing altitude, being locked in such a momentous moment it was hard to pull away, and it was also hard to multi-task. Twilight pulled away to acknowledge the sudden drop in altitude,

"Hey featherbrain, I know you like this but I’d rather not be a purple pancake." Twilight joked.

"Egghead you better hang on then!" Rainbow screeched as she head straight down, gaining speed as every second flew by, waiting till the last second to pull up, avoiding the ground by mere inches, "Ha ha, lets do it again!"

Twilight, gripping on for dear life and wide eyed at the experience of what just happened, could only utter a weak “Ugh” in reply.

Rainbow looked down at her friend to see she wore the same look she had when she did that same aerobatic trick the first time: wide eyed, mouth open, your mind racing to tell you to never do that again, but your heart saying the complete opposite. Yup, there's still a chance that Twilight had a little Pegasus in her yet.

"You ok?" Dash asked.

"If you mean that I'm still alive, then yes, but please don't do that again. I think I almost lost my lunch." Twilight assured Dash.

"Well were almost there, so hang on tight!" Rainbow said as she looked up to see Canterlot only a mile or two in the distance, and having a notion to make the trip as exciting as possible, she performed trick after trick as their destination grew ever closer. Twilight acknowledged that her fun with Dash would have to end; it was time to be serious, or at least try to fake being serious.

“Twilight Sparkle my most faithful student.” Princess Celestia announced as Twilight bowed to her mentor. Rainbow was a tad embarrassed, but she wore a face of pure enjoyment and bowed as she too met the princess' gaze. It seemed easier to stare into Princess Celestia’s eyes, Rainbow thought, rather than staring into the eyes of Princess Luna.

"And your friend Rainbow Dash, the daredevil, but who is graceful and gentle on the inside." The Princess inquired, snapping Rainbow back to reality.

"I'm not gentle, but I sure as hay am a daredevil!" Rainbow added with a snicker a smile of pure enjoyment at being recognized by royalty.

"Twilight I'm sorry but the dinner isn't going to be tonight. I've tried to send another message to Spike, but all that kept appearing in return were gems. But on the other hoof I have arranged your old study to accommodate you and your friend." Princess Celestia said in a modest tone.

"Thank you Princess!" Twilight burst out in enjoyment. A slumber party in her old bedroom!

"Rainbow Dash, I have some special news for you as well. The Wonderbolts are accompanying us for dinner, and I mentioned that you’re a huge fan. They decided to sign this for you." Princess Celestia handed Rainbow a small rectangular box. Rainbow didn’t know what was in it, but anything from the Wonderbolts would make her giddy.

She reached for the box, using caution so as to not rattle the box and disturb its contents, and slowly opened it. Her rose colored eyes lit with joy, because what she held in her hoofs next was a signed, XL T-shirt from the Wonderbolts, with a picture of all three of her hero's flying in formation. Her mouth gaped, of course it was too big, but it was now one of her three most prized possession.

"THANK YOU!!!!!!!" Rainbow exploded in enjoyment as she jumped up and down repeating the words too the princess.

"Now then Twilight, I have business to attend to, I shall be seeing you in the morning, good night." Princess Celestia smiled as she turned and trotted off.

As soon as Celestia left Rainbow still full of glee at her new gift, she had to remember she wasn't the only Pegasus - or the only pony for that matter - who needed their sleep. Tomorrow’s going to be a big day, but tonight that still had a couple of hours left.
----------------------------------------

As Twilight lay in her old cushiony bed she thought of the past events up till now. She only wished today lasted longer, but a faint light from the bathroom door appeared on her face. Rainbow walked out wearing her new found glory, and her hair messier then ever before, walked towards Twilight.

"Hey Egghead, what's lavender and clucks like a chicken?" Rainbow asked Twilight as she stood at the foot of her bed.

"I don't know, a lavender chicken?" Twilight answered back.

"Wrong, You!" she yelled as she jumped high in the air and landed next to her friend, bouncing her twenty feet in the air clucking like a chicken.
