In order to keep Discord from spreading chaos on Equestria, Twilight decides to marry Discord.
Discord has gone evil again thanks to Tirek and now the only way to prevent him spreading chaos and havoc on Equestria, somepony must marry him. It's either he chooses the mare or she comes out of her own free will. What happens when a certain purple alicorn accepts the deal?
It was official, Discord is not only spreading chaos across Equestria, he also broke Fluttershy's heart. Just as Fluttershy was just falling in love with Discord, he had betrayed her. Fluttershy has been crying for days since Discord was evil again, although Tirek was defeated. Applejack has been comforting her ever since she got heartbroken.
"Fluttershy, you've been crying for five days! Please, you're gonna flood the place!" Rainbow Dash complained while getting a nudge from Rarity.
"Dear, this is isn't helping your complexion but I respect that you're heartbroken. I completely understand." Rarity stroked Fluttershy's mane.
"Wait a minute, where's Twilight?!" Spike said in alarm.
"That's a very good question, Spike. Where is Twilight?" Fluttershy sniffed, before crying again.
"Oh my, she must of have left while we were comforting Fluttershy! Where could she have gone?!" Rarity said, wondering.
Little did they know that Twilight was all by herself in her new castle, crying to herself. "How could I have let this happen? It's my fault that Discord's spreading chaos and I have failed Princess Celestia. I may have defeated Tirek but Discord is not defeated." Twilight yelled at herself, still crying.
"I still have my friends but Fluttershy's upset because Discord betrayed all of Equestria and herself."
Twilight didn't hear Spike come in from behind her and started hugging her.
"Twilight, this isn't your fault. How were you and the princesses supposed to know Discord would betray Equestria." Spike patted Twilight's back.
"Besides, Pinkie's been in absolute delight for the last couple of days. Although she's been drinking too much of that chocolate milk rain, she's so happy. Then again, it's Pinkie Pie."
"I know Spike. But I hurt Fluttershy so badly I'm not sure she'll ever forgive me." Twilight sniffed and Spike kept calming her down.
Meanwhile with Discord, he was having a splendid time spreading his chaos throughout Equestria. "Hey Mr. Chaos, I have a small suggestion." a red miniature version of Discord said, standing on his shoulder.
"Oh, hello my little shoulder devil. What's your suggestion?" the evil draconequus asked while on a cotton candy cloud.
"Why don't you go ruin a date! That's very chaotic and totally fair since no pony loves us!" the shoulder devil Discord exclaimed.
He pointed towards the ground where a grey pegasus with a blonde mane and tail and a light brown earth stallion with a dark brown mane and tail. They seemed to be having a picnic, and rather very much enjoying it.
That's when Discord decided to ruin the date with his chaos and havoc, as usual. "Great job! Their date is ruined!"
Discord's shoulder devil said in delight. "Nice doing business with you!" the two Discords shook claws and the shoulder devil disappeared. Once he did, Discord noticed somepony he knew. It was Twilight's older brother, Shining Armor and his wife, Princess Cadence.
"What do those two good-for-nothings doing?" Discord had his cloud go a little farther to the ground, but turned it into a white one so the royal couple didn't suspect Discord was watching them.
"Shining Armor, Fluttershy is in so many tears due to what Discord has done. Please, spare him." Cadence plead her husband.
"I understand that, but I can't just spare him just because Fluttershy was starting to love him! Equestria will be havoc if we don't do something!" Shining Armor disagreed highly.
"Fine! If you won't spare him, I'll have Aunt Celestia have you fired!" Cadence started walking away.
"Please, like Celestia would fire her captain of the royal guards!" Shining Armor shouted, not knowing about the tears in his wife's eyes.
When Discord heard ".....Fluttershy was starting to love him.....," he felt slightly guilty. But not enough to stop spreading chaos across Equestria.
Meanwhile back with Twilight, Spike was still comforting her.
"Twilight? Are ya alright?" Applejack said from behind her. "No, not really Applejack. I've failed you all." Twilight said, sniffing.
"No ya haven't, Twilight. It's Discord's fault for choosing evil over friendship." Applejack assured her.
"She's right, Twi. After all, she's the element of honesty." Spike continued to comfort her. Applejack blushed to the comment.
Twilight continued to cry and each of her friends came in per hour. All except Fluttershy, who was still upset as well. Twilight and Fluttershy were still upset all because of the decision Discord made. But who could blame them though, Discord had betrayed all of Equestria. It wasn't until she stopped crying Twilight went to bed later on that evening. Her friends, excluding Fluttershy whom was at her cottage, decided to all stay the night but let Twilight have her space.
But as Twilight slept however, she had nightmares about Discord, Fluttershy, and Celestia. The worst nightmare was the last, about Fluttershy getting stabbed into the heart, by none other then Discord himself. Once Twilight awoke from that dream, she decided to go to the kitchen for a bite to eat.
"Twilight? What are you doing up darling?" Rarity said behind her.
"I couldn't sleep Rarity. What are you doing up then?"
"Pinkie and Rainbow were snoring too loudly again."
Twilight nodded, those two snore louder then Spike and Mr. Cake COMBINED.
"Darling, I can tell something's bothering you. What is it?" Rarity showed concern for her friend.
"It's just......I've been having nightmares about Celestia, Discord, and Fluttershy. I just don't know how to handle this all." Rarity nodded to Twilight, beginning to make something for the both of them to eat.
"Why is this so difficult for me to understand?"
"Darling, we all don't blame you. Especially considering he not only betrayed Fluttershy, but he betrayed you."
Rarity was right though, mostly because aside to Fluttershy, Discord was closet to Twilight. As Twilight continued to cry at the table, Rarity finished up their tea and cookies. She set their snack down onto the table and sat down as well.
"Twilight, you must stop crying or else your eyes will be red. Which you know isn't good for your complexion." Twilight understood and began drinking her tea along with her unicorn friend.
"Do you have any idea how Fluttershy's doing?" Twilight asked with concern.
The next morning, Twilight awoke in her bed to see Spike on her.
"What is it, Spike?" Twilight sat up, noticing that Spike has a scared look on his face.
"You have a visitor, princess. And it's someone you wouldn't expect to come." Spike got off of his motherly figure and led her outside.
Once she arrived outside, Twilight was shocked to see the draconequus that's been making her cry for the last few days in front of her drinking a cup of chocolate milk. "Now, what do you want?! You betrayed us all!" tears once again came to the alicorn's eyes.
"Oh, calm down purple princessy. I just want to TALK." Discord threw the cup behind him (which ended up exploding once again).
"Alright, talk." Twilight said sternly, Spike leaving to take care of the girls. Discord gave a mischievous smile to the princess and makes chairs for them to sit on.
"So, I know you and your friends have been very stressed out." Discord began to say.
"You bet we have! And it's all because of you!" Twilight began to yell until Discord put a paw finger to her lips.
"So, here's the thing. You know that I'm one for deals, correct?" Discord holding a bag of cotton candy while talking.
"Yes, Discord. YOU TRICKED ME INTO ONE OF THEM!" Twilight began to growl. Discord rolled his eyes while eating his cotton candy before speaking once again.
"As I was saying, if you want me to stop putting havoc on Equestria, you must accept my big deal that I'm offering to you." Discord's beard was beginning to roll up as if he had a big plan.
Spike was watching from a nearby room, watching the two as they talk. He just didn't trust Discord, especially with the mare that's been there for him since the beginning. The only issue was he couldn't make out the conversation too well, no matter how hard he tried. When he saw a big flash of blinding light, he knew that if he waited much longer, something horrible will happen.
He burst through the doors to see Twilight holding her hooves in an uncomfortable way and the expression on her face was not really a good one. "What happened, Twilight? What did you two discu- what's that?" Spike noticed something glittering around her neck.
"Spike, do you mind sending a letter to Princess Celestia and Luna?"
Spike gave a confused look but gave a slight nod. The purple dragon took out a quill and parchment and began to write that Twilight told him too.
"Dear Princesses, I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear that I've talked to Discord about his chaos on Equestria and he's willing to stop if somepony-meaning me, would marry him." Twilight stopped when she noticed that Spike dropped the quill and she began to cry.
"Twilight, why would you except a deal like that?! IT'S DISCORD FOR PEEPS SAKE!" Spike patted her back while the princess cried.
"I had to, it was either that o-or, have D-Discord continue to spread his chaos across Equestria. And I couldn't risk it again, and I'm doing this for you and our friends. Especially Fluttershy." Twilight held onto herself while she cried even more.
"I'll finish the letter so you can let your emotions out." Spike finishes the letter while the purple princess tries to breathe but still cries. The dragon blows his fire and the letter is sent off to the princesses of Equestria.
Suddenly, Spike burped up another letter that appeared to be very urgent. The young dragon opens up the scroll and read it aloud.
"Dear Twilight, I advise you and Spike come here at once! We've got much to discuss about this deal that you made with the Lord of Chaos. Your Princess, Celestia." Twilight immediately stopped crying and used her magic to put Spike on her back.
"Uh, Twilight? Don't you think we should go after telling Rarity we won't be helping out with her fashion show?" Spike asked while Twilight face-hoofs.
"I COMPLETELY FORGOT! You're right, Spike." She hands over some more parchment and ink so he could write another letter but to Rarity instead. Once he finishes, Twilight and Spike fly off to Canterlot to talk to the princess.
One thing's for sure, Twilight has become a much better flyer than she was when she first became a princess. Anyways, when Twilight finally arrives at the palace, Princess Luna and Princess Celestia greet her with great concern.
"Twilight, please come inside quickly," Celestia motioned. Twilight looks down at Spike and then at her teacher. She just shrugged and followed the princess sisters inside the palace. Once the doors to the throne room are closed, Princess Celestia sits upon her throne.
"I know that you want to protect Equestria, but does it mean that you have to turn yourself in to that traitor!" Princess Luna asked in a worried, yet angry tone. Celestia looked at her sister with a gentle look upon her face. Luna breathed and stepped back so her older sister could talk to Twilight Sparkle.
"Well, I've learned from the both of you that a princess must make every sacrifice for their kingdom and this my sacrifice. Besides, one of you or Cadence can't do it anyways, maybe this is what my purpose as a princess is meant to be." Twilight explained. Luna's face looked a little shocked and pleased at the same time. The young princess was right, without the sacrifice of a princess, even if it would mean losing the ones they loved, that's just one of the important that you must know.
"I see your point, Twilight, but what about Ponyville? What about your friends, they'll miss you and so will the rest of Equestria." Celestia asked. Twilight breathed carefully and had to explain her situation carefully. The only way to keep Discord from spreading his chaos across was to marry him. After all, Discord was the one that had chosen this as the deal.
"Alright, if this is truly your decision, we'll stay at your side. You should tell your friends before you leave, which should be......."
"In two weeks, Discord is giving me time to clean out my castle when doing it."
Celestia and Luna let Twilight go and she greeted Spike when out of the throne room. Tears begin to form in her eyes once more because of the thought of telling Fluttershy that she was now engaged to the one she loves and the others about the fact she would basically be abandoning them to protect Equestria.
Twilight knew that nopony was going to take this the right way, especially Fluttershy. She could loose the quiet, yellow pegasus as a friend. It wouldn't matter much anyway, since she was going away, but still. Fluttershy was one of the best friends you could ask for and the purple alicorn was engaged to the one that her friend was in love with! Twilight just couldn't stop feeling guilty, but what's done is done and that's that.
The princess breathed slowly before entering the throne room where her friends were discussing on what they should do. Spike looked Twilight with concern, urging her to reveal the ring meant to be on her horn. Twilight sat down and pulled the ring out and placing it on her horn. Her friends didn't even pay attention to it until Rarity noticed something was sparkling from the light over by her friend, making out that it was a ring.
"Twilight?" Rarity gasped. "May we know as to why you have an engagement ring on your horn?"
Twilight breathed slowly, with her head down, getting a small glance at Fluttershy. Her eyes were kind of red from all the crying, so Rarity lent her some sunglasses so no one could see how her eyes were. Telling her now would kill her inside, but Twilight can't hold it in forever, that's obvious.
"Girls, I made a deal with Discord to get him to stop with the chaos on Equestria," Twilight rubbed her neck, Spike hugging her to show support. "But, since he chose the deal, I........agreed to marry him." Just saying this made the whole room gasp, Fluttershy's tears returning, and Pinkie's just speechless. After a small moment of silence, Rainbow Dash pipes up angrily.
"How could you do that, Twilight?!" The blue pegasus yells. "You know that we can't do a lot without you, don't you remember what happened at the Summer Sun Celebration? We pushed you away and it happened to be Discord's fault in the end!"
Twilight breathes calmly and explains to them all the many reasons why she did this. She wants to protect her friends and family from that horrible creature, especially Fluttershy, considering how bad she's hurting right now. Twilight wants to know her reason to why she's a princess, this could be it.
"But Twilight, you're a princess who has duties, what about Shining Armor and Cadance? Have you told them?" Pinkie Pie asked, all up in her friend's face. The alicorn princess rolls her eyes and pushes Pinkie Pie out of her face.
"I plan on going to the Crystal Empire later next week to visit and tell them about my decision, I know that Shining will not happy."
Everypony just starts yelling and screaming, but Twilight notices that Fluttershy isn't on her throne. The princess slips away and finds Fluttershy in the hallway sitting alone, blowing her mussel into a tissue.
"You all right, Fluttershy?" Twilight sits down next to her shy friend.
"Not really, but tell me one thing," Fluttershy sniffs. "Was Discord truly the one that chose the deal?" Twilight nods and holds Fluttershy for a little while. The rest of their friends come out of the throne room and see them hugging. Applejack joins in, then Spike, and eventually they all are hugging one another. The hug soon breaks when Fluttershy calms down and is smiling.
"Even if I'll never have Discord, I've got really great friends I know won't betray me," Fluttershy giggled sweetly. "Which is why we must support Twilight's decision, she chose to do this with Discord, even if he'll likely hurt her. But when he does, we'll be there. Friends?"
"Friends." The ponies and the dragon laughed joyously. Happy tears start streaming down Twilight's face, leading to Spike holding onto her hoof. Fluttershy smiles greatly and they all agree a trip to Sugarcube Corner would do them some good. They all left the castle, except for Twilight. She began to pack up a little bit of her bedroom stuff, while sniffling.
"How is my alicorn fiancee doing?" The mischievous voice of the Lord of Chaos says from behind her. The purple princess just gives him a glare, showing her true emotions. "Not good, okay. I assume you didn't tell them about that you'll be kept in our house for the rest of eternity, never let out?" Twilight nods, remaining quiet, although neither of them were aware that Spike was listening as well.
The dragon assistant knew that his motherly figure would stay behind for a little while. Spike watched the two with a sense of anger and bitterness. He doesn't trust Discord, especially after the arrangement that this idiot made with her.
"I will have to tell them eventually, but I'm telling my brother and Cadence first, they'll give me the best advice. But for now, get your butt outta here!" Twilight snaps, hitting the draconequus with her hoof. Discord got the message and vanished out of sight. "Spike, I know you're hiding behind the door, come in." There was no fooling the official Princess of Friendship, Spike knew that. He guiltily came inside Twilight's room, mostly to see an alicorn that was actually really upset about all this.
"Spike, I honestly don't want to do this and I know that Cadence and Shining Armor aren't going to be happy about this at all," Twilight tells the little dragon. "But I have to be strong about this, for Equestria and for all of you. Promise me you'll all look after Fluttershy after this is all over?" Spike hugs his mother figure, as a sign of comfort. He could tell that Twilight was upset. How was her family going to react to having the Lord of all Chaos as an in-law, especially her brother.
Ever since Shining Armor found out about Twilight's crush on Flash back when they visited the other world, he became protective of her around stallions. Just a normal big brother thing to do. Shining probably won't go too crazy, Spike however is willing to. Because no one, no one hurts her.
