> Siren Bay > by ZombieBrony22 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Aftermath (Edited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I leaned my hand against the wall as I looked out the window from our fallout shelter. Luckily, CHS was built back during the Cold War, so it had one. I was inside it with several of the students, including Twilight [Not the Equestrian one], Sunset Shimmer, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Applejack. The others... they were up there with the Dazzlings as their pawns. Their... soldiers of action. "What the hell happened today?" Sunset asked me. "... I have no idea. It just... went down." I said. "Do you remember this morning? I should've seen this coming a week away." Sunset said. "Sunset. I keep telling you. This wasn't your fault. The Dazzlings did this, they locked us in here. Not you." I said to her. "But Night Flier, it was so obvious! The riots, all of those sick people, and THIS..." We were silent as distant explosions went off. Most likely military choppers trying to bomb the city. Looks like they're failing. THEN The school bell rang as we walked into the large building. I managed to catch a glimpse of that statue that was, apparently, a portal to another world. I walked past it and inside the big doors where I saw Sunset waiting for me. "Hey, you." She said. "Hey, Sunset." I said, catching up to her. "Did you hear of last night, about that riot down the street?" Sunset asked me. "Actually, I was there. I saw that they were all just... killing. Not themselves, but police. Do you think Equestrian magic was involved?" I asked her. "Huh, I hope not. We had enough problems at the Friendship Games." Sunset said. "Yeah, no kidding." I said back. We kept walking past the classes until Celestia came down the hall. "Hello, Sunset, hello... um..." "Night Flier." I reminded her as I rolled my eyes. "Sorry. With all of the students for the past years, it's become impossible for me to recognize new students until a few months." Celestia explained. "It's fine. You should've seen it at my last school. They NEVER recognized my name and I've been there since 2nd Grade!" I chuckled. It's always good to remember Manehattan Middle School. But now, I'm at Canterlot High. Trust me, I've been here for 2 months and I already like this school more than I've ever loved Manehattan. I had Cheerlie as my first class, so I shouldn't be late. I went down the hall and saw that she was off for today and there were no substitutes. "What? Her too? Hope you got you're flu shot..." Celestia said to me as she shook her head and walked away. Before I could ask what to do now, I saw that her class was now in the library, browsing. Browsing? That's... weird. I decided to see what they were browsing and I saw books on... the human brain? "Hey, Button Mash, what is this?" I asked a younger classmate. "I think it was those Siren girls. I-I mean, think about it! No-one's heard anything about them since the Battle of The Bands, and that was what, a year ago?" Button asked. "I don't know... maybe." I said. "Well, can you bring it up with Sunset? I wanna make sure Sweetie Belle's okay." Button said to me. "Sure thing. Go check on your girl." I joked. "SHE'S NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!" He called back as he paced down the hall. I found Sunset on the table just as bewildered over this "Brain Phase" as I was. "What do you think?" I asked. "No idea." Sunset said. "You know, Button said it could be those girls, The Dazzlings, right?" I asked. "Um, actually, we have an anatomy project due tomorrow, Sunset." Trixie said. "Oh, right. That one that was due 5 days ago!" Sunset said. Of course those two had to go at it today. They were enemies since Trixie locked Sunset's friends inside a music storage room to win the Battle of The Bands. "W-WHAT?! Blasphemy!" Trixie shouted as she ran to see the school portal. "Well, mystery solved, Detective Sunset." I joked. She chuckled and we both laughed as Trixie started freaking out due to the overdue assignment. "Wait, so these are the due kids?" I asked. "I guess." Sunset said. After the first class, we tried to see if Cheerilee was okay. We checked the nurse's office, but they were out also. "Man, anyone else out today?" Luna asked under her breath as she went to imform her sister. "Where IS everyone? You don't think Button Mash was right, do you?" Sunset asked. "I have no idea." I said as I ruffled my hair in confusion. We decided to see if the others were still here. We went to the gym and saw that Rainbow was still there. "Rainbow, just because it's a free day and hardly anyone's here doesn't mean you should lift weights alone! You could suffocate." Sunset said. "I'll be fine. Besides, I'm not... pushing myself." Rainbow said lifting the weight. "Go on, I'll watch her." Sunset said rolling her eyes. "Got it." I said. I went to the cafeteria to find Pinkie Pie in the back, working on the sweets in the back. "Hey Pinkie. Where's Fluttershy?" I asked. "Not here. Probably with her boyfriend." Pinkie said in her high voice. "Okay, is anyone here today?" I asked. "Well, let me think... oh! There's Vinyl Scratch, Octavia, Sunset, you, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Applejack, Celestia--" "Okay, Pinkie, that's enough." I chuckled. Then, out of nowhere, the school alarms went off. "Attention, all students. I really don't know how else to say this, EVERYONE TO THE FALLOUT SHELTER!" Celestia cried. "Oh crap..." I said. I ran to get Rainbow, but she was already ahead of me. We ran for the shelter, but the doors shut. We turned around and saw... "Oh, no..." Sunset said. > Fallout (Edited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I turned around and saw three girls with red necklaces on their necks. I heard a melody, as if they wanted us to go to them. It was so familiar, and so I stayed with Sunset. "Shame. You'd be better off with us." The orange one, most likely the leader, boasted. Wait, are they...? Then, she ordered 3 people to be shoved towards us. The others, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Twilight. "What do you want with us?" I asked. "Nothing from you. It's this place we want." The orange one said. "Adagio, you sure we should herd them up in that shelter?" The purple one asked. "Yes, Aria. They'll be easier to keep an eye onr this way." Adagio said. Adagio? Aria? Oh, no... "Why are you here?" I asked. "Oooh, he remembers us!" Adagio said teasingly. "Girls, go inside. I got this." I said. "Hell, no, Night Flier! We fight together." Rainbow said. "You don't know these girls. I do." I said. "What do you know them?" Sunset asked. "Oh, let the polygamous lovebirds work this out in the prison. Rarity, Pinkie! Take your old friends inside, please." Adagio asked. In that moment, Rarity and Pinkie walked in front of them with the green eyes. It's happening all over again. "Rarity, Pinkie, you don't want to do this. Their controlling you; you don't know what it makes people do, what it made me do! YOU DON'T WANT TO DO THIS!" I cried out as we were grabbed and shoved into the shelter and the doors were shut in front of us. "Damn it..." I cursed as I banged the door. "Night Flier, how do you know those girls?" Sunset asked me. "I..." I started. "Tell us later. Now, we have to think of a way out of here." Rainbow said. "Rainbow, this is a fallout shelter. The only way out is through that door." Sunset said. "Yeah. Besides, we might be safer in here than out there." I said. Before they could say a word, the door opened and about 3 more people came in. "Who are you?" I asked, starting to step back toward the others. "I'm Norman. This is Button Mash and Zeypher Breeze. You?" Norman asked. "I'm Night Flier. This is Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Sunset Shimmer, Fluttershy, and Twilight Sparkle." I said. "Yeah, we know who they are-- Rainbow, thank God!" Zeypher said as he ran towards her only to get held back by her one hand. I shared an awkward glance at Sunset that reassured me that he wasn’t dangerous. "He just always tries to hit on her.” "Now isn't really the time, you two.” Applejack said, splitting the two of them up. "We can deal with that later. Did you three see ANYONE out there whose eyes weren't green?" I asked in hope. "No. It's all gone, guys. Just like Button Mash said it would be." Norman said. Just. Like. Last. Time. I wanted to scream. My body was almost frozen as I heard that singing again. The doors opened and I saw them. I grabbed the nearest thing that could be a weapon-- a pipe-- and I held it like a baseball bat. "Hello, girls." I said as I held the pipe up. Their eyes turned red and, with a flick of a wrist, the pipe shot out of my hands. "ARGHH! SON OF A--" I looked up and saw that Aria grabbed me by my shoulders and was leading me into a classroom. Nope, not this time. I whipped my head back, stunning Aria for 5 seconds as I bolted back into the Fallout Shelter, grabbed the pipe, and chucked it out, bonking Aria in the forehead. "I made that mistake once, never again..." I started as I started reaching for another weapon-- a kitchen knife. "Son of a bitch! Leave him. He's immune now." Aria said as her head started healing magically. They shut the door and I was panting for breath via adrenaline pouring through my veins. I laid down and grinned in victory. "Jesus, Night Flier! What was that?!" Sunset asked. "It... was avoiding what happened to me the last time they found me." I said, still panting for breath. "What... what happened?" Sunset asked. She's going to wish she didn't answer that. I was laying in my bed back in Manhattan 2 months ago. I got up, noticed that I almost missed the bus, and managed to make it. I sat in a lone seat like I always do. I looked back and saw that we had 3 new students today. Who are they? "Um, hi there, Misses." I said awkwardly. The 3 students turned around. One thing I noticed about them right away was that their (quite large) hairstyles were dyed specific colors: Orange, purple, and blue. "Hello." The orange one said. "You 3 new here?" I asked. "Yes, actually. My name is Adagio Dazzle. This is Aria Blaze, and the idiot over there is Sonata Dusk." Adagio said. "Hi!" Sonata said giddily. "'Sup?" Aria asked. "Well, welcome to Manhattan High." I said. "We are happy to be here." Adagio said. The bus stalled to a halt and the clunky doors slowly opened. Time for another, ordinary day... "...After lunch, they started their takeover. I wasn't... well, infected, so they tried another way..." > Infected (Edited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was sitting at lunch, having my usual: Italian. I saw the three girls from earlier grab trays and take seats... Next to me. "Hello." I said calmly. "Hello again." Adagio said. We were silent until Sonata looked up to say something. "How long have you been here?" She asked. "Huh? Oh, since kindergarten." I said. "Sounds like you know the most about this place..." Aria said. "Yeah, why?" I asked. "Do you happen to know where the principal's office is? We can't quite seem to find it." Adagio said. "It's the fourth room on the right, near the end of the hall. You can't miss it." I said to them. "Thank you." Adagio said. Aria didn't say anything, and I think I heard Sonata say something, but she was already throat-deep in tacos. After the bell rang, I saw Adagio and her sisters go to the principal's office. I went back to class, but then the announcements came on. "Would Night Flier please come to the office? immediately..." Principal Starswirl asked. I got up and went to the office. When I entered, Starswirl wasn't there. I searched the office up and down, but he wasn't there. "That was when I should've known that something was up..." I said to the others. Just as I was about to give up, I heard a voice behind me. "Not so fast..." Adagio said. I turned around and saw... "Wait, so they took over the principal, then they took you into the other room and talked you into..." Rainbow started. "...Yeah. It didn't seem so bad at the time, you know? But then I found out what they really were, and what they wanted." I said, struggling to wipe the memory off of my mind again. "I'm sorry, I had no idea..." Sunset said. "There's nothing we can do now. Except getting out of here." I said. "How?" Sunset asked. "Look around and grab anything useful. Food, water-- anything you can get your hands on. After that, the second that door opens again, we run." I said. "What if we don't make it?" Zeypher asked. "We will." I said. "Even if we do, what'll we find out there? Military? People? I don't know what you saw back at your school, but we saw them take over the school. All of it. If it can happen out there, we're hopeless." Sunset said. "Look, we're all scared, okay? All we can do is--" The doors opened again and Adagio stood there with a gun in her hand. I grabbed a knife and hid it. "Relax, people. This isn't for you-- unless you try anything..." Adagio said. "Where did you find that?" I asked. "Didn't you hear the crashes earlier? We had plenty of weapons, and a few survivors, actually." Adagio said. "Soldiers? Pilots?" I asked. "A bit of both, actually." Aria said, walking up behind her. "What do you two want?" I asked. "Why, we just wish to give you the nickel tour of what he have created in the past 2 days." Adagio said. I looked back at the others and they saw this as I did. The only chance we might have to escape. "...Alright, Adagio. Show us what you did to our home." I said. We walked outside and it took a minute our eyes to adapt to the bright sun. The first thing we noticed was that the wall was bright red. It was a sad sight to see, we saw students walking around with a form of a gun in their hands. Rifles, pistols, even a shotgun. "We found a weapon box in one of the helicopters. It's a shame they stopped sending them." Adagio said. We kept walking and I saw people lined up near the Canterlot Hotel. "What's that?" Zeypher asked. I know what that is... "Oh, that? Let me just say, Night Flier? You might want to watch this..." Adagio said. The girls' faces changed into disgust when they learned that meaning. Fluttershy seemed the most shocked. "Just... just don't look." Button Mash said. "You can't outlook it, Button Mash. It's everywhere..." Adagio said. I kept looking and saw Aria find someone in the crowd. She took his hand and lead him into the hotel. "Son of a bitch..." I cursed under my breath. I caught up with the others where we saw a form of a statue being built. "What's that?" Sunset asked in horror. "This? This is simply a monument in our name. Think about it: A monument to outlast the rest... a monument to last a thousand years!" Adagio said. "This is sick... you think it's love, but it's just some other form of mind control!" Rainbow cried. "Rainbow, we can't stop this. Not now..." Zeypher said. "He's telling the truth, you know... Now, all we need is for Aria to finish up in there..." Adagio smirked. I turned back and saw a light from a window in the hotel. Memories came flashing back... No. Not now... "She'll just have to wait, please come. We still have the Barracks..." Adagio said. "Barracks?" Everyone asked. "You'll see." Adagio said. We went to the Barracks-- A.K.A. The gym-- and were handed ear protection. "Trust me, you'll need them..." Adagio said. We put them in and when we entered, we saw students firing off weapons at the statue. The Canterlot Statue-- the one leading to Equestria. "Don't fret. We didn't go to Equestria, and we never will. In fact, we're destroying the portal as we speak..." Adagio said. We kept walking when we saw a form of a gunsmith room. "You'll be surprised on what we can bring out of people once they're under our spell. We can make them take up certain hobbies that they would've ignored before..." Adagio said. I saw bullet casings piled up on a table. One of the students was casing the bullets. That explains their waste of ammo. They always have more... "Come on now, we don't have much time..." Adagio said. We reached the Medical Bay, A.K.A-- the nurse's office-- where we saw the soldiers we were told about. Adagio grabbed one of the dog tags from one of the soldiers. "Corporal... Welles? Well, you'll be in good hands." Adagio said, running her hand on his cheek. It's Manehattan High all over again. Only worse this time... This time, it's everywhere. "Well, we must go on with the tour, we have one more stop in mind..." Adagio said. We followed them to what seemed like a massive wall around Canterlot. No way in, no way out. "What is that?" I asked. "Oh? After the government learned that they couldn't stop us, they dropped this massive wall off. They locked us in, but we're working around it..." Adagio said. Well, there goes our plan to escape. There's nowhere to go... "I see that this seems disappointing, but I have an offer to make." Adagio said. "What?" Sunset asked. "We thought about it, and... well... if you wish to... partake in our power, tell me." Adagio said. No. That was my only thought. "No. There has to be another way." I said. "Well, we're not going to hold you anymore. Feel free to explore this place, make up your minds..." Adagio said. I turned to the others, I saw a look in Sunset's eyes. Not of fear or sadness. But one of realization. Before she could step forward, I put my arm in front of her. "Give some of us time to think about it. But one thing's certain: I'm not joining you if it's the last thing I do." I said. "Suit yourself..." Adagio said as she walked away. I turned back to the others. "Okay.. now what?" I asked. > Escape (Edited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- We were given seperate homes in the city. I was bunked with Rainbow and Sunset, who was still traumatized from what we witnessed just the day before. "Sunset, if you ever wanna talk about it..." I started. "Don't. Don't try to make feel better about it. There's nothing to feel good about, Night Flier. Nothing. And so I don't want to." Sunset responded. I nodded and I checked the window. "We should be careful. The others said that they might be able to climb the wall with some effort." Rainbow said. "Well, for now let's plan this out. Really think this through. We can not fail this escape, Rainbow. We can't." I said. "...I know." Rainbow said as she held out a pistol. "Adagio gave it to me. She said that we should play it safe here." Rainbow said. I nodded and I decided to check on Button Mash. I went to the house they said was his, but he wasn't there. "Where is he?" I asked a guard behind me. "He's talking to the boss." The guard said. Boss? Adagio? Is he... No. No way. Button Mash saw this coming, he has to put up a fight. "What happened to him?" I asked. "Now, I think you know what happened." The guard chuckled, his red eyes glowing as his body jerked back from laughter. No... After we learned about this, we decided to go back home. We saw Sunset, holding a necklace, a rosary. "Best not to bother her yet..." Rainbow said. "Yeah, no kidding. We all had a rough time lately." I said. "Hey, about Manehattan..." Rainbow started. "Don't. I just don't wanna talk about it." I said sternly. "Look, I get that what happened was bad, but--" "It killed me. For the longest. Time. It killed me, and now it's killing us" I said. "It's killing the world. We need to get out of here, and we need to get away from people." Rainbow suggested. "As soon as we find a way out, we take it. We bring the others, and we warn the world about this." I said. "We should record what we see. We have that camera, and they don't have a problem with it." Rainbow said. "I'll keep it on me." I offered. Sunset nodded and handed the camera over. I placed it on my neck and checked the photos. Whoever took it was there at the Battle of The Bands as it was full of the Dazzlings on the stage, there was even a video of them turning into sirens. "This might be the golden ticket to saving the world." I said. "What is it?" Sunset asked as she looked through the camera. "This is amazing! Who could've captured this?!" Rainbow asked. "Whoever it is, I hope they're still alive." I said. "I doubt it..." Sunset said as she looked out her window. We were silent as Sunset quickly killed the hopeful mood. "Okay, here's the plan: The place seems less guarded at night. We get the others, and high-tail it to the south wall, we go under the sewers, then we head to civilization to warn everyone." I said. "Alright, it's a plan." Rainbow said. Sunset was silent as she kept looking out her window. Tonight's the night. We're breaking the hell out of here tonight. "Here's how we do this: I get the others, you check the wall." I said. "And how about me?" Sunset asked. "I saw you step up when Adagio offered, what do you want to do?" I asked. "I don't know." She responded. "Well, take the rest of today to think about it. Meanwhile, Sunset and I got Zeypher and Norman. Then, we get Rainbow, Twilight, and Applejack." I planned. "It's a plan, I'll give it that. But what happens when we get caught?" Sunset asked. I was silent. Truth is, I don't know what I'd have to do. "Worst case, bullets fly." I said coldly as I grabbed a 12-Gauge from the closet and slung it across my back. "I got you." Sunset said as she grabbed the gun Adagio gave her and started working on a makeshift holster. I grabbed a kitchen knife and stuck it in my belt. I could see Sunset's face in disarray and slight panic. "Do whatever you have to do..." Sunset said. After arming up, I started rallying the others with Sunset. The sun was starting to reach the treeline; we didn't have much time. I saw Zeypher outside his house. "What are we doing?" He asked. "You'll see, just stay close. Can you shoot?" I asked. "Yeah. Why?" I handed him a pistol I "borrowed" from an abandoned gun store when no-one was looking. Zeypher knew what was happening and stuck the gun inside his belt and covered it up with his shirt. "Let's do this." Zeypher said. "Alright, get Rainbow." I said. "I'm here." Rainbow said as she held a baseball bat. "You need a gun." I said, handing her a Uzi I also "borrowed". "Got it." Rainbow said as she slung it over her back. "They don't seem to care that we have guns. These're just in case things go south." I assured her. "Sure." Rainbow said as she started walking to Sweet Apple Acres. Or now, the Prison. Applejack tried to take out one of the guards with a shiv about a few weeks ago and was now in confinement in the barn until the Dazzlings develop a prison. We entered the barn and saw Applejack behind a cage they put up. Dirty, beaten, slightly crying. "Psst. AJ!" I whispered. She didn't move. She just stayed there. "Applejack! Where're bustin' you out." Rainbow said. I grabbed bolt cutters out of my pack and cut the weak chain-link, and slowly put my hand on AJ's shoulder. "GET OFFA ME!" AJ choked, as she shoved me away. "AJ, it's me. Lookit, it's me." I said. AJ showed no sign of listening. I began to notice cuts on her arms, her clothes covered with blood... "AJ..." I started. I then noticed a noose tied in front of her. "No. No, you can't! I won't let you do this, Applejack." I said, trying to untie the noose. "DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY DID TO ME?! DO YOU HAVE THE SLIGHTEST CLUE?!" AJ panicked. "Applejack..." Rainbow said, starting to tear up. I realized what she wanted. She wanted to die. "I'll help you. Over there, there's a double-barrel. Take it." AJ said. I went over and opened a cabinet. Indeed, sitting there, was a 12-Gauge, Double-Barrel Shotgun. I took it off the cabinet, and traded it for the Pump-Action slung over my shoulder. I went over and handed it to AJ. "Next time they come in to... do whatever, you kill 'em." I said. "I wish there was another way... I wish I could come with Y'all. But I can't." AJ said as she loaded the shotgun. I nodded, wiped a tear, and kissed her forehead. "Let's go get Twilight." I said with my voice cracked mortally. Twilight got the better end of the stick. She was assigned to research for a way to take over Earth's defenses. She, of course, lied about our nuclear arsenal, along with our firearms. She was on break when I grabbed her. "We're breaking out." I said. "Who's got Norman?" Twilight asked. Shit... The sun was set, and the guards were unassigned. "There's no time. Curfew's in 4 minutes. They'll catch us out here lookin' for him. We have to go, and we have to go NOW." I said. BOOM! I heard a faint explosion come from the east. I didn't need to look to know what it was. Applejack. "Come on, we gotta go!" I said. We made a break for the southern wall, which was lower than the rest, and had a form of escape tunnel that we noticed. We made it and started opening the tunnel... When someone saw us. "Hey, stop right there!" The guard said. We didn't stop, we went faster. The guard came closer and drew his weapon. "If you refuse to stop, I will contact the others... Our hivemind will receive my signal and we won't rest until we find you..." The guard said. I knew what he was about to do. I grabbed AJ's Double-Barrel, drew it, and fired. The guard collapsed dead, but the tunnel was opened. We hopped in, and I realized that I couldn't close the door. "What is it?" Rainbow asked. "If we leave that tunnel open, they'll come out into the world. How do we--" I was interrupted by a familiar face peeking into the tunnel, holding an Assault Rifle, had a form of makeshift armor on, and had a pack on her back. "Sunset?" I asked. She then grabbed the manhole, jumped into the tunnel, sealing the exit along with her hopping in, and released the manhole, falling to our level. "Where's Norman?" I asked 'Rambo' Sunset. "He's not coming." She said sharply as she paced forward. We caught up and started jogging through the sewers until we were a good distance from the city. I found the nearest manhole and peeked my head out. What I saw was an empty highway. I whistled and we headed up. "What about, you know, these?" Rainbow asked, pointing to our heavy weapons. I prepared for this with a duffel bag and handed it to the others. We put our weapons inside, zipped it up, and headed back up into the world. What we saw was a road sign reading Canterlot City 4 miles SIREN BAY
