In the year of 2000, marking the turn of the century for Equestria, the technological advances of their civilization opened vast doors to their world. Technology that could not only run without the use of magic, but control a global atmosphere that made their world more habitable. Negotiations with the warrior tribes of the Yaks and Gryphons, leaps of aviation with Pegasi, computers and faster means of transportation were brought to life by Unicorns and Earth Ponies. The use of fossil fuels that helped hurry this process were harvested by the Saddle Arabians and implemented by the Earth Ponies. This spawned a new relationship amongst all walks of sentient life in Equestria, even the diamond dogs, who used their knowledge of the Earths subterranean world to find these precious resources necessary for the race of better technology. Large cities stood proud among-st the landscape, putting the once thought advanced Manehattan to shame. Music insert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uvh4tTGJ3DM This change brought its fair share of cons. No, more than that. It brought upon a reality worse than any hell thought imaginable. These demons, or monsters of unimaginable terror and power. From some hellish portal, a bottomless pit from what they believed was hell they came. They ran a muck through the land, turning half of the Utopian cities all life in their called home into wastelands. Not one species, Pony, Gryphon, Yak or Dog was sparred of these terrors. Millions were killed, those who lived fled their homes in despair. Even the Buffaloes who rejected the modern way of life soon joined the others, seeking justice for the thousands of their remaining kind that were killed. The once unbreakable warrior spirit of the Yaks was immediately crushed, the gold and riches the Gryphons clung to burned along with their homes and loved ones. As the war waged on, the Elements of harmony were called upon, however, in the aftermath of the First Impact, the Element of Honesty and Laughter were killed, leaving only four of the flesh and blood embodiments alive. (End music here.) Having been bound to the Elements before, Celestia and Luna called upon their power to put and end to the invaders. With a tidal wave of magic, the land was enveloped in a blinding flash that illuminated even the night part of the earth. When the light died down, the Angels were gone. All that remained were the gemstones of the Six Elements. Where were the Princesses, the once believed by many to be goddesses were no where to be seen. All the Equestrians could find of them was the gold Tiara that Celestia once pridefully wore. The Captain of the Royal Guard who had witnessed the death of his soldiers brought it to his chest. He stood in the now permanent twilight of the battle's aftermath, tears welling up in his eyes. A few of the surviving guardsmen lead him back to the truck, with him sitting in the drivers cabin. He said nothing as they departed the battle field, all he did was hold the Crown tightly to his chest. The world now sat half in Darkness, the other half bathed in Sunlight. Between these two areas was a place where it was always morning, a second where it was always evening. Despite the defeat of the Angels First Impact, Equestria did not sit idle. This couldn't be the end of this new hellish reality. They built newer cities, using their most advanced technology, hoping to make them Angel proof in the case that they ever appear. But as they went into hiding, they combined all their efforts, implementing their genius for formidable weaponry. Guns, cannons, rockets and missile systems were implemented. However, they did not stop there, they developed a super weapon, a weapon that could go toe to toe with an Angel. In other words, a robot. An “Invincible Soldier,” as they called it, was to be implemented and put to battle. The military genius of the Yaks was put to work, the steel makers of the Gryphon kingdom constructed powerful alloys, the Ponies of Equestrian used the pinnacle of their mechanical technologies, their efforts taking them years to create. The genius behind the innovation, dubbed the “Evangelion Project,” watched as the final components were attached to the machine. The cable that was fed from the massive, glowing tree of harmony connected to the back of this silver Mecha, parts of its body glowing from the light the surrounding machinery gave off. A cord that hung from the machine’s back channeled vast amounts of raw power into the titans’s core at a steady pace. It sat there in a heap, its eyes glowing with artificial life. “Its working,” he said, elation washing over him, “Increase the power flow by two hundred percent!” His Gryphon assistant's eyes went wide in shock, fearing that her mentor had lost it in desperation for his creation to work. “What? Such power could overload the battery core, that would not only fry the machine but destroy the umbilical cord connector as well! Professor Night Light I am afraid that-” “We have no other choice if this is to work. It's either we do it now, or the world as we know it will ultimately perish.” He turned his attention back to the robot. “This has to work.” The face of his machine's reflection showed in his goggles. “Alright,” Tara punched the commands into the motherboard, “Energy flow, increase two hundred percent, connectivity OK. All extinguisher units on standby. Commence input!” The cord connected to the robot as incredible volts of power streamed through its wires, creating bright flashes and charges that danced around the robot who stood motionless. “Come on, rise!” Energy cackled and danced over the Robot’s armored body, rippling from around the umbilical cord, “Rise, rise!” He muttered, clenching his teeth as he watched through the dark lenses goggles. “Power at max output, sustainability, ten seconds. ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two-” before she could finish, the cord exploded from the back of the Eva, knocking the machine forward, slumping over onto the ivory floor. The facility shook almost as if an earthquake struck the facility. The connector on the Eva’s back and cord billowed smoke, parts of the connector having melted and fused with the Eva’s back. he caught his balance on a nearby table, readjusting his glasses and standing up straight on all fours. "Artificial heart rate?" He asked, his assistant rubbing the side of her head having fallen out of her chair. She typed in a code into the motherboard. She turned to face him and closed her eyes, shaking her head. There was a mutter among the other participants, some were beginning to question whether this project was even possible, or if the professor had completely lost it. He hung his head in defeat as he slowly walked away from the testing room. As the door slid shut behind both him and his assistant, He grabbed his glass of water and sat down at the table, a fluorescent light illuminated the white room, the hum of the main computer system resonated throughout the room ever so quietly. “‘Savior of Equestria’, and we cant' even get the damn thing to work…” He threw his goggles down on the table, sitting down and rubbing his temples. “The tree output was at maximum,” His apprentice said in disbelief, her jade eyes scanning the circuit board. She scratched the side of her head with a talon, “Now what do we do?” He took a long sip of water, “We have no choice, we will have to start from scratch.” She immediately spun around in her chair, “You mean rebuild Eva-01 entirely!?” He nodded, “It will have to be done. It is the only way.” “Surely we can conduct a scan of some sort, perhaps a...” she slowly stopped her protest as his stare hardened. She sighed in defeat and began typing away at the motherboard. While the assistant scientists cut the energy from the Robot, slowly, the hand of the machine curled it’s fingers, making a fist with both of its hands. They watched in disbelief from the viewing glass, as slowly, the robot lifted its metallic head, gazing emptily at the Ponies that watched in awe. “Professor!” They called, and immediately he joined them, staring in disbelief at his creation that looked back at him. Tara joined him, bringing with her a lap top, “Here! Its not that we overpowered the circuitry, we simply reduced the energy flow too soon which stalled the battery!” The robot stood tall, its eyes flashing yellow while the Neon components of its body steadily glowed a bright orange. “By the gods…” Slowly, a smile spread across his face, “We have done it… By god, we have finally done it…” "Professor Night Light." Two Stallions dressed in black stood in the viewing room doorway, their eyes covered by black sunglasses, manes cut short to where the stood like a roman soldier helmet plume. They beckoned for him to come with them. Night Light and Tara both exchanged quizzical glances, but they followed the two into Night Light's personal office. There they set up a film player, plugging in a flash drive and pressed the play button on the player. It lighted up, casting its footage on the ivory wall. What they saw horrified them. A city, well, what once was a city was shown in utter ruins. Smoke billowed from areas that were just recently blazing infernos, the sky had turned gray from the smoke despite this city being on the permanently sunny part of the world. "What?" He sat up from his chair, wishing that his eyes were simply playing tricks on him. "This is Manehattan... We received this message moments after the activation of Evangelion." "What is the cause of this!?" He feared the worst, if it was a second Angel Attack, then the world had the absolute worst to look forward too. "We've received information that it was a second Angel attack. Officials have dubbed this the 'Second Impact." He turned to face them, "What about the foot soldier robots we built there? They should have halted them..." "They hardly lasted a minute..." "The three pilots?" "All dead..." "What has caused this Second Impact?" he questioned them, knowing they had to have some sort of knowledge of this abrupt Resurrection. They gave no answer, however, the stallion with a Dark Blue coat pursing his lips for a few moments. He was hiding something. "Damn it!" He brought his hooves down onto the table. Tara rested her paw on his shoulder as he pressed the sides of his head. "Our most advanced means of defense next to Evangelion gone." He stood from where he sat, "Now! Ready Eva-01 for attack! We must intercept the enemy before it comes here!" Tara pondered aloud, "What is drawing them here? Could it be the tree of harmony?" "No..." He brought his hooves, "They must be after the Eva..." "But how would they know of its existence?" She waited for him to respond. His expression stayed solid, his hooves together. "There is no time to explain. Deploy Shining Armor in Eva Unit-01." He walked to the viewing room, his eyes dancing over his creation. "Eva one is armed with our most advanced missile systems. The ones at Manehattan are like fire crackers compared to the ones Eva is armed with." "Shining armor..." he thought to himself, "It's time for you to shine, my son, be careful." He pulled the rubber plug suit over his head, pressing the switch that compressed the suit over his body. He took a deep breath and sighed, thinking over the countless virtual training he had endured since the completion of this base. He had to admit, he was terrified, but he also longed for revenge. A year prior he watched as his men, the soldiers whom he fought along side with since he was a colt perish in the blink of an eye. A Crucifix shaped ray and razor edged tendril was all it took to make short work of all his battalions. Even the Elite Unicorn Guardsmen with there magic blasts did little more than pester the titans. And his wife. Cadence, she too saved him. She saved him from what was supposed to be his death. Not her's. There were no remains for him to hold. She was incinerated as she pushed him aside, dying alongside the Royal Guard in the Crucifix blast. She didn't have time to summon a force field. She was lucky enough just to save him. Even though he wished she hadn't. Part of him wishes that he would have just died there and not have to endure the pain. There was a knock at the door. "Come in." The door slid open, and in stepped his sister, Twilight. She had a look of worry plastered onto her face. Trotting over to where he sat, she wrapped her forelegs around him. "Hey..." "This is it..." He did not make eye contact with her. "You're shaking." He shook his head, "No, I mean yeah i know I am, I'm just..." "This nervousness isn't going to help you..." She laid her hoof onto his shoulder. "I know, I believe in dad and what he's doing with Evangelion... I'm gonna get revenge for them…" There was a long pause, "You haven't been the same." She tilted her head, "What do you mean?" "You've been quiet, just, distant from me, until now." She lowered her gaze to the marble white floor, "I miss them." she huffed, "All of them!" He placed a hoof on her mouth, "Please, don't cry, not at a time like this..." Twilight looked into his eyes. She could finally see for herself the spark, the light that was once in his eyes that made him who he was, that made him her brother, was gone. Twilight nodded, the death of her friends and mentor, even her sister in law were more than she could take. Shining Armor was now the only one whom she felt she could open up to. She still stayed with her friends, but still, some part of her died along with everyone else. "Shining Armor, report to the Eva docking area, Shining Armor. "The Angel will make contact with the base in twenty minutes! Preparing all back up defenses " "You must go. I believe you can do it. Cadence is with you, remember that..." "Thanks, Twilight..."" They embraced for what they felt would be their last time. They hesitantly let go of one another, Shining slowly trotting from the changing room. Twilight stood in the doorway and watched him depart. "Please be careful." Slowly he climbed down the ladder that ended just above a pilot seat stood, the controls on the inside glowing with white light. When he took his seat, the ladder retracted, and the hatch above closed. The entry was different than what he had virtually trained for, however, the controls were the same. And to him that's all that mattered. He took deep breaths and tapped his hooves on the arm rest, trying to keep his nervousness to a minimum. "Moving Eva-01 to launch site!" Announced an Ivory white Mare who wore an off white lab coat. A large scar stretched the length of the right side her face, stopping just beneath her blue eyes. Her purple mane was slightly disheveled from the strenuous, fast paced preparations made for the robot's launch. Eva-01 was locked to the wall where lateral grooves were made, their purpose to transport the robot to the surface. Shining Armor took another deep breath to try and calm his nerves. He shouldn't be afraid. To be afraid would be to doubt his Father's hard work. His fallen brethren would be turning in their graves if they saw him feeling the slight bit of cowardice. Or would they? They saw for themselves a monster that could wipe out a battalion in a seconds worth of time, how would Evangelion size up to that? Would they understand his fear... He WAS afraid. And horribly so. "Launch way is all clear..." Tara announced to the Ivory mare. "Evangelion, launch!" The robot raced up the launch way, the chamber at the top opening. Evangelion rose to the surface, its yellow eyes flashing as the Angel slowly advanced forwards, stopping in its tracks to observe the robot that stood before him. The constant morning light shined on the Mecha's silver armor, the neon orange components on its head, shoulders, ankles, legs and arms mingled with the sun's orange morning glow. The Angel shrieked in surprise, taking a few steps back. Now Shining could see this monster. It's body was black asides from the white carapace armor that covered it's chest and shoulders. It's eyeless "face" that looked like Medieval plague mask, it's ruby eyes glowing in the dim light. It's arms were tendrils that were barbed on the ends, it's feet had no nails, toes, or visible joints, they barely even touched the ground, making the angel seem like it was levitating. On it's side, purple blood streamed out of a small injury, a wound sustained from its previous scuffle in Manehattan. "It's..." before he could finish, he heard his Father over the speaker. "Shining, destroy the Angel immediately, there is a three minute time limit to do so!" He leaned forward and pushed the controls forward, "Got it!" With the press of a button, Evangelion hunched forward, deploying it's firepower upon the angel. The missiles made contact with it's armor like hide, explosions blossoming on every visible surface of the beast. A high pitched squeal rang through the city as the Angel was put through a seemingly endless onslaught. Shining gritted his teeth as the cockpit shook, memories of how his fellow guardsmen were so savagely killed by these monsters. Now it was their turn, he would bring an end to- The face of the angel came right up to Eva-01. Shining lost his composure and failed to realize that the exploding missiles had gotten closer and closer along with his enemy. Everyone at the base felt their stomachs grow heavy from the fact that this beast had been casually making its way closer to him despite the unrelenting missile attack. The Angel attempted to strike the robot, however, Shining caught hold of the appendage, using all the power it could muster to twist and break the appendage, invoking a shrill squeal of pain from the Angel. Eva kicked the beast in the chest, sending it flying back hundreds of meters. "If Shining can keep that up, perhaps we can send the Angel in retreat." Night Light observed. "Just make it retreat?" Tara commented in disbelief, "You mean?" "Yes..." Night Light closed his eyes, "Shining Armor cannot win. We have underestimated the potential of the Angel. All we can do is hope he can fend off this thing for now and buy us time to complete the Prototype's successor." "Prototype? Successor? Just what are you talking about!?" Tara shouted, "What have you been keeping a secret? You've sent Shining Armor to his own death when you knew Evangelion didn't stand a chance!?" "We had worked on a Successor before the prototype was complete. We were able to improve upon Eva-01 as soon as we had gotten halfway through the prototype's completion. However, using it for battle would have been far too risky, as we yet can only understand the prototype's power." She furrowed her brows, "What is so different?" "The successor is part machine, and part living thing." Tara glared at him angrily, "But why not stop the prototype and complete the successor if you knew you could, especially if it's that much stronger?" He closed his eyes and sighed, "It was too risky. We were yet to understand the strength of the prototype, to create something with power greater than even the unknown would have been far too dangerous. We are here to create weapons, not gods." "But Shining Armor will be...!" "I told you I had underestimated the Angel!" He retorted, "None of us knew about it's potential till now..." His eyes began to water, "But yes, I did send him to his potential death... Because I was blinded by my own pride. I should have known better, but pride, it got the best of me. Of all of us. And now I will pay for it. But this cost, this cost that one can not bare..." he slammed his hooves on the dashboard as he watched Evangelion tussle with the Angel, "Who could ever bare it!?" With an earth crushing slap of the Angel's tendril like arm, Eva 01 was sent flying back to the streets below. To his horror, Shining watched as the Angel towered over him, it's ivory carapace that adorned it's upper body shining in the dim sunlight. Shining screamed in frustration as the robot leaned its head back and released a loud yet muffled metallic roar, its mouth bounded by the armor. The machine gave a roar of its own, charging the Angel great speed. However, right when Shining was in reaching distance of the Angel, a yellow, outlined force field materialized between the two. Evangelion stepped back, pushing it's palm against the energy wall as Shining tested it's strength. Night Light's eyes went wide with horror, "No, if Shining cannot penetrate that force field then we have lost all hope of driving it back… My son..." Tara observed the energy field, "Just like when they used the elements... If it's not magic, what is it?" Shining screamed as Eva'01's fists ineffectively crashed against the force field of his foe, in retaliation, the tendril of the Angel shot forward, skewering the Evangelion and impaling him into a skyscraper. The cockpit turned red and "WARNING" flashed overhead. "Damn it..." Shining cursed, his Eva grabbing hold of the appendage, using all of its power to try and pull it out of him as black fluid seeped from the wound. The Angel shrieked as its back busted open, more tendrils freeing themselves that impaled the Eva's arms, legs, and chest. The left clawed hand grasped the head of Eva-01, tugging with all its might. The other tendrils impaled Evangelion over and over, tearing wires and metal components savagely from its body. Green and black artificial blood sprayed from its horrifying wounds as the Angel slowly tortured the robot, disemboweling it for the sake of amusement. “No!” He shouted, “I've lost all my fellow guards to these things, I won’t just leave Evangelion to die just like they did!” He jammed the controls forward over and over, “Move, Evangelion, move, stand up-Ah!” The screen went to static as the head of the robot was savagely torn from its body, the metal spinal cord fraying before snapping, black fluid spraying from where its head used to be, coating the Angel in artificial blood. It shrieked as it crushed the head of Eva unit 1, crimson mixing with the black fluids as Shining’s screams died down from the intercom. Everyone in the control room were silent, Tara hunched forward as she held back the bile that built up in her throat. Twilight listened, her eyes wide with horror. As the satellite image came back to view, the sight of the mangled Eva's remains jerked tears from her eyes, however, the crushed control center, the head of the machine lay crumpled on the ground. The last thing she saw was the foot of the monster crush its metallic build, painting the street with green fluid and black blood. She tried to find the words as she shook, her blood running cold as a part of her mind snapped. This had to be a dream, all of this, this wasn't real. No, none of it. That was his blood, those were his screams. His screams of anguish, defeat, sorrow, anger all combined into one. This wasn’t a defeat, this was a murder of the worst kind. She had witnessed the death of her brother, killed so cruel by these, these demons. As a lone tear streamed down her cheek, she finally broke free from the trance of sheer horror. “SHINING ARMOR!” She quickly looked to her Father who now stood on the ledge, Pistol in his right hoof. Tears streamed down his face, a glow of incomprehensible grief shined in his sad eyes. He slowly raised the gun to his temple. When his daughter made eye contact with him, Twilight's face grew pale as he mouthed to her, "Goodbye." He closed his eyes as his horn illuminated the trigger. There was the cracking of the gun, followed by his blood painting the nearby wall. He slumped back onto the railing, falling hundreds of feet to the ground below. There was a sickening thud as his body hit the floor. The screams of workers could be heard reverberating from below, followed by the sound of a medic cart arriving. She watched as they lifted his ruined corpse from the floor, his head had splattered from the impact, leaving fragments of skull and brain matter scattered on the floor. Her world ultimately stopped, her heartbeat reverberated in her ears. She had grown unaware of the contraction's she felt in her gut. Twilight felt dizzy, hunching over and emptying her stomach onto the floor. She vomited until all that came was yellow bile, pooling in front of her in a crude pile of food and stomach acid. She slumped to her side as the world around her became a blur. The last she saw was Rarity begging her to stay with them, her best fiend repeatedly nudging her side. Within a few moments, Twilight's world went black, growing deaf to Rarity's pleas. It was the most tranquil she had been for a long time. Ending theme: Beautiful world (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZuMj4aKJeg) > Welcome, the "Third." > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Neon Genesis: Equestria Chapter 1, Welcome the 'Third." Intro Theme: A Cruel Angel's Thesis (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJuexdl_c5s, stop at 1:30) Six years later. Through her lenses she stared, her pensive gaze observed what lay in the large, windowed chamber before her. The tips of her hooves touched together as the tip of her muzzle lightly nudged them. On her right side stood another mare, her purple mane a tad disheveled from her lack of sleep. Both of their eye's were locked on the large, humanoid titan that lay wrapped in gauze. The drone of machinery buzzed in the background, a unicorn mare named Rarity stood by her side. Twilight's hoof tapped eagerly on the floor as the the final detail for the Eva's activation was added. The power cord, now dubbed "Umbilical cable." Attached to it's back, steadily channeling energy into this mummy esque Titan. "All preparations are complete. We are now ready for the activation phase." "Tara..." Said Twilight, not bothering to look in the gryphon's direction. The gryphon pivoted in her rolling chair and waited for her instruction, "Power the flow up by six hundred percent." "Got it." The codes reflected in her green eyes as she punched them into the Motherboard, "All personnel, to your stations. Activate internal battery charge in three, two, one..." The Diamond dog on the inside of the chamber pulled down the lever, activating the umbilical cable charge. The electrodes glowed with power as they channeled raw power into the mummy like giant. "Rise..." Twilight watched with eagerness, her hooves resting on the table as sweat ran down her brow. This had to work, the past six years had been devoted to this very moment. "Rise dammit..." Slowly, the hum of the turbines slowed, having extracted what was supposed to be enough energy from the tree of harmony, coming from miles away. The lights in the facility flickered back on when the turbines came to a stop. As Twilight started to think it was a failure, she saw it stir. She placed her hooves and muzzle on the glass as it stood. The ground personnel scattered away from it. Slowly it rose to it's feet, standing to a height of seventy meters. It towered above the staff members on the floor level, as it rose, parts of the gauze slowly turned crimson as the beast underneath was skinless in some places. "It worked..." A small grin of satisfaction spread on her face. The others remained silent as Twilight basked internally in joy, her creation finally complete. Through the white wraps that adorned it's body, a single green eye stared back at her. XXXX Rarity sat down in her rolling chair, her cat Opal sitting close by as the cat groomed herself. As Tara stepped in, the cat hissed as she passed by, upset by the fact that alone time with her owner would be cut short. Tara smiled sheepishly at the feline before turning her attention back to Rarity. "Well, the armored plating is now completed. Only a few more hours until the project is finished." Rarity sipped from her mug and nodded, "Excellent, at least now Twilight can let something go to rest." "She's never been quite the same since..." Tara placed her talons together, her jade eyes growing sad. Rarity chuckled at this, "That I'm afraid is an understatement. She's even worse than she was when we met her, eight years ago." She placed her mug back onto her desk,"What happened six years ago ripped out what little was left of her." "A bit of us all died that day..." Tara tapped her talons together. Rarity said nothing, she knew all that she could ever lose was already gone. Reaching forwards, she picked up a picture frame on the desk, holding it in her hooves. Her eyes scanned over her old friend Apple Jack who stood with her sister, Apple Bloom. It was a picture of them at the Sisterhooves Social. One pony caught her eye, it was the smaller off white one to her side with big green irises. Rarity placed the picture down lest she cry on the job. "Miss Rarity," One of the Diamond Dog workers, Rover, opened the door, removing his construction cover, "Twilight would like to have a word with you." "I just left..." She sighed, levitating her coffee with her magic, she followed the Diamond Dog, Rover to where Twilight waited. Having been the one that had initially kidnapped her years ago, he had since changed drastically, having grown far more civilized. The hoarseness in his voice had mellowed significantly. The same went for the other two companions who helped with what they called the "Grunt" work, using the contruction machinery, welding, and lifting of heavy objects. Surprisingly, they were fast learners when it came to operating machinery, which was implemented when they welded the steel the Gryphons created. As the two of them entered the room, they were greeted by a large, gauze covered face who stared into the room. Rover left as soon as he could, shaking as he stared at the single green eye. Twilight still kept gazing forward as the gauze was being removed from the fleshy giant, "How's the recruiting coming along?" Twilight asked, still looking forward. Rarity smiled, "It's coming along quite well. Rainbow Dash will be picking him up shortly. The other child will depart here soon." "Excellent." She inhaled deeply, "Fluttershy has been quite incompetent lately." "Perhaps you should show her a bit of the old Twilight she loved?" Twilight turned her head a little, as if she was trying to fight the urge of looking at Rarity head on, "And that would help?" Rarity's brows furrowed, "Well, you are her 'friend' after all." She looked forward again, "Hm. Report to me when the Third child is recruited..." Rarity sighed, "Well, if that is what you want. But please Twilight, some of us would like to see the old you again someday." The door slid shut behind her. This happened at the same time the last few strands of gauze had been removed from the Evangelion. Now two emerald colored eyes and a toothy, hideous smile stared into the room. "The old me..." She pondered, "Still thinks with her heart as always. I have no time for that." She watched the violet head plate was placed on the head of the beast, the eye sockets then flashing white. In the streets of a small suburb, a young, adolescent colt stood in the door way of a pay phone. He has relived that this neighborhood still kept them around, and that they had not since gotten rid of what was thought to be obsolete technology due to the presence of cell phones. "We're sorry, but we are unable to process your call. Please try again with the hour. Thank you, and have a nice day." "Crap..." He groaned, bumping his head on the booth's steel frame, "My Cell Phone doesn't work either." When he opened his eyes, his gaze scanned the streets, realizing that they were completely devoid of life. "Where is everybody?" A moment later, several large, smokey grey colored Vtols flew overhead, catching the Colt's attention. "The military? Why would they be, Ah!" On the horizon stood a towering monstrosity. It's upper body was large and broad, however, it's forearms seemed much frailer in contrast. It's shoulders and sides were glas in bony armor, standing out from it's jet black hide. It's face resembled a Plague doctor's, and in the center of the angel rested a round, crimson ord that almost seemed to glow in the constant midday sun. Right when the young stallion, Pip Squeak, was finally able to take in the horrible titan who stood a couple hundred meters away, three missiles screamed through the streets, making a sharp turn as they collided with the monster. "A direct hit!, Wait, ahh!" The Vtol Chopper was immediately destroyed by the beast, it's elbow spike morphing into an energy clad saber that stabbed into the aircraft through the Angel's palm. The remains crashed just feet away from him, but luck had it that a cyan car sped between both him and the fire, the passenger door swinging open. In the Passenger seat sat a Mare whose coat was identical to the car's paint. "Sorry I'm late, hop on in!" Without hesitation, Pip galloped for the car, quickly fastening his seatbelt as the driver punched the gas, speeding away a split second before the Angel's foot crushed the pavement where she parked. "Thanks," he panted, putting a hoof to his chest. "No problem!" She turned the corner at a high speed, making the car teeter to one side before speeding down the road. XXXXX In a wide, spacious facility beneath the surface, Twilight sat with Rarity as they watched the military power of the Yaks slowly fail. The three generals, Prince Rutherford and his two right hand men, watched in anger as the Angel swatted a VTOL from the air, levitating and destroying yet another as it landed. "Yaks use full fire power!" RutherFord screamed, "Destroy Angel at all costs!" The pencil he held snapped in two. From above, three C17 type cargo planes opened the back hatches, dropping bombs that scattered around the beast. The Screen that showed the Angels flashed repeatedly as the shells exploded, turning the area around the Angel into a crater. When the fire cleared, everyone in the room could see the ivory face of the Angel staring back at them. "Damn it!" Rutherford seethed, but yet he still managed not to destroy the table they sat at in a fit of rage. "Do you suppose it's what you call an 'AT field', Twilight?" asked Rarity. "Of course, these fools don't realize that conventional weaponry have no chance in defeating it." She placed her glasses onto the desk, "It will take half of their kind to realize that." "The third Angel," Twilight gazed at the screen with utter hate for the beast, "Sachiel..." "Ah yes, the one who wiped the Changelings from existence." Rarity nodded. Rutherford spoke to his two subordinates, nodding in agreement with them. He pulled out what appeared to be a small walkie talky. "Yes, you have Rutherford's permission. It ends here, now." Smiling, he placed the communication device back into his pocket. XXXXX From the edge of the suburb, Rainbow Dash observed the Jets and Helicopters flee from the Angel. Above, a clumsy C 17 aircraft released a large, titanium shelled, bomb that was nearly as large as the plane itself. "Those idiots!" Rainbow Dash slammed on the brakes and parked the car, "Get down!" She pushed Pip Squeak into the seat, the scent of her fragrant mane wafting into his nostrils. The entire sky glowed orange as the bomb exploded, cladding the Angel in a intense blast, the shockwave flipping Rainbow's car onto it's side. The two of them screamed as the car was tossed like a rag doll before it came to a stop on it's right side. "Yaks will no longer be using help from ponies!' Rutherford said smugly. He turned around in his chair and waited for the screen's picture to come clear. "Now what?" He asked in anger, "Yaks see dead Angel now!" "In one moment please..." The screen went to static for a few more moments before the energy radar switched on. In the center, the multicolored lined that lined the bottom turned dark blue as they quickly arched upwards. "We are receiving a high energy reading in the heart of the crater!" "What!?" The trio shouted in Unison. As the image cleared, there stood the Angel in a blazing inferno, it's black carapace falling off its body as it shed it's charred, armor like hide. "That was our last resort..." Said Rutherford as he plopped back down into his seat, "Damn it!" he slammed his hooves into the table, creating a hair line crack, "That is no Angel, it is a demon!" Rutherford stared wide eyed at the table, "Cannon, rockets, missiles and tank fire it just strides right over Yak fire power!" A new face sprouted from the Angel's body, pushing the old, damaged face out to the side. "A near perfect life form..." Twilight commented, intrigued by the beast's perfect evolutionary abilities. "Yes," said Discord, Popping up from behind Twilight's chair, making Rarity gasp in surprise.,"I'd expect nothing less from something destined to destroy those who ate from the tree of wisdom." "Mhm." Twilight lifted her head enough to wear her mouth was above her hooves, "Where is Rainbow?" "Oh, yes, she should be here within the nearest hour." Rarity glanced at her watch, "I'll go and wait by the bridge entry way." "Good..." Twilight lifted her head up as the three Yaks made their way for the door, "Yaks officially allow for the use of Evangelion." "Thank you, King Rutherford." Rarity grinned, giving him a small, mocking smirk. "Professor Twilight, this Evangelion as ponies call it, is it strong enough to kill the angel?" There was a tinge of worry in the Yak's voice. "Just as your weapons have advanced, so have our own. We have made some significant changes to the construction of Eva-01 and Eva-00." Rutherford nodded and sighed, "Very well, Yaks go now, we leave the rest to you." The door slid shut behind them. "Rainbow Dash..." Twilight thought aloud, "Where are you..." Discord snapped his fingers and materialized a chair of his own, sitting back and stretching his arms, "Aren't you afraid of whom you have angered, Twilight?" "I don't care about what a creator who's so vengeful wants." Her brows furrowed in anger. Discord nodded in agreement, "So it is. And just whom have you chosen to pilot this improved Unit?" "An orphan child. His Mother was killed shortly before the first impact, who is Father is is unknown." "Is it the foreign brat?" Twilight nodded, "We hope this will give him a sense of belonging and purpose." "And what if he chooses not to fight? Then what?" The Chimera chuckled. Twilight rolled her eyes, "Then we will make use of Fluttershy." "Don't you think she's been pushed enough?" Discord sighed. "It's her or our existence." The Chimera shook his head and snapped away his chair, "If you say so. If you need me I'll be in my thinking tree..." Snapping his eagle talons once more, he was gone in a flash. XXXXX "Alright, on one, two, three!" She strained the three as both her and Pip pushed the car over onto its wheels, both of them breathing in unison. As Rainbow wiped her forehead, Pip's eyes quickly danced along her form. She was slender, toned, yet had a curvaceous figure, her white tank top ending just above her navel, the blue shorts she wore were high enough just to give a slight peek at the end of her cutie mark, with the cloth fitting tightly around her hips. "Well, that's that, you're quite the young muscle," she winked at him. Pip merely blushed, rubbing the back of his head. "Well, I uh.." "Anyways, "Rainbow patted him on the back, "Let's get you to base!" "Base?" He asked as the car engine sputtered to life, "What base?" "Oh, you don't know?" She put the car into gear, relieved to know that her vehicle still functioned. "I mean," Pip faced the road ahead of them, "I know I was called here for something important, but I didn't know it was for some sort of top secret job." "Hello kiddo, did you read the envelope? It says 'NERV' right there in big, red letters." She rolled her eyes. Pip's face flushed red, turning away in embarrassment. Rainbow noticed this and placed her hoof on his knee. "I'm just messing with you bub," Her magenta eyes glistened, making the young colt blush even redder, "We'll get you all situated with your new job." "Thanks.." Sitting back in her car seat, Rainbow let our a drawn out exhale, "Damn it.." she thought, "I just had this car restored three days ago, and now with these repair costs and twenty other loans I need to pay off, it's almost as if I'll never get this fucking thing paid off, on top of that my newest gym shorts are trashed too, as if this Angel crap wasn't enough," "Rainbow?" "It's like it's just one damn frustration after another and.." Rainbow?" "Eh? Oh, yeah?" She smiled, doing her best to hide her internal frustration. "Just what is my 'job' going to be?" He tilted his head slightly in question. "Oh, well," She bit her lip as her mind raced to come up with an explanation, "It's a, well top secret job. as in, you really, really won't know until you see it for yourself." He raised an eyebrow, "That doesn't sound too, well, reassuring..." "You're a bit too serious for a colt your age." Rainbow commented as she made a right turn towards the mouth of a tunnel, crimson lighting illuminating the roadway. As they reached the end of the tunnel, they entered an elevator of sorts that slowly lowered them, and what Pip saw amazed him. It was a city beneath Ponyville, a large upside down city. A vast, subterranean urban world. The tops of Sky Scrapers reached towards the earths core, the beautiful, artificial lighting illuminated the subterranean world. His hoofs rested on the passenger door window as he smiled in amazement, the lights on top of each building flashing for a few brief moments. "Welcome to Ponyville, Pip." "It's been so long..." He looked back to her, " I can't believe it! We could barely keep up with Manhattan, now it's like.." "We're the most awesome city around, right?" She smiled coyly, "We're Equestria's number one fortress city. The old headquarters was destroyed in Canterlot six years ago, if it weren't for this underground city, we would all be toast." "Welcome to NERV?" He read the sign aloud as the car came to a stop in front of a pair of sliding, titanium doors. The crimson logo with what appeared to be half a fig leaf with the upper right corners on the letters merging with it. Beneath it read a strange phase, "God is in heaven, all's right with the world." "God?" Pip reeled his head back in confusion, "Who is?" Rainbow Dash hurried him along, "No time, this way," She grabbed his hoof, leading him into a elevator. She pressed a large B, which he thought stood for basement. As the doors slid open, the entryway was dark. She led him into the dark room, their hoof steps echoing as the sound of flowing water hummed in his ears. "Where the heck are we?" Not a second after he asked, a single light tore through the darkness, followed by several other's that illuminated the room. No, it was a large spacious hangar, and what he saw before him elicited a scream. It looked horrible, a purple colored, yellow eyed beast that stay submerged in some sort of crimson fluid. It's purple horn stood proudly from its forehead, along with red scratches etching from underneath its eyes. It appeared to have a "mouth" but it was bolted shut and covered cyan colored metal. "That thing, what is?" "Welcome, the third." he heard the voice of a mare, one that sounded so familiar to him. He looked to where he heard the voice, and there in the window stood a purple mare, Twilight Sparkle was her name, if he remembered correctly. This time she wore a black overcoat with gold rims around the cuffs, with a red, turtle neck sweater underneath. Her hooves were also covered with white gloves on the front. She gave him a half smile as he made brief eye contact with her. "The third?" Pipsqueak's brows furrowed as he looked towards the Evangelion that sat in the pool of water, "My name is Pip-" "You are the third child, one of the three specially selected to pilot the three cyborg's, known as Evangelion." Pipsqueak pressed his hooves on his temples, shaking his head as he tried to take in the whole situation, "Evangelion, cyborgs, wait, please, just tell me what the heck is going on?" "I am asking for you to pilot the cyborg before you, and fight the Angel's." He shot her a look of absolute disbelief, "You can't be serious! I just got here, I don't even know what the hell this thing is! Why me!?" "Because you're the only one who truly can." "Me? I just told you," "If you choose not to pilot it then leave!" Twilight retorted in anger, the only real emotion Rarity and Rainbow had seen in a long time from their friend, "I have no use for a cowardly 'foal'. "Cowardly? No, you don't understand, these monsters, this robot," There came the sound of a large explosion, the entire facility shaking as a result. From above, metal support beams rained down into the red LCL fluid that the Eva was partially submerged in. Twilight groaned in annoyance, "Damn it, it's located our position." From the Everfree forest where it stood, the eyes of the Angel's mask like face flashed, a cross shaped explosion blossoming from the heart of the submerged city. One of the skyscrapers fell to the subterranean world as the explosion destroyed the steel foundation that held it in place. Rainbow Dash steadied herself, "Pip Squeak, if you cannot pilot Eva-01, this city as we know it will be destroyed, don't you get it?" He hung his head in shame, "I'm... I'm sorry... I just can't." "I have had enough of this. Rover, Fido, Spot," The three dogs were quick to come to her attention, "Escort Fluttershy to the Entry Plug station." "Yes Ma'am." Twilight pulled her cell from her pocket. She pressed a few digits and pressed it to her ear, "Fluttershy, can you hear me?" "Yes." "We need you to pilot Eva-01. The new pilot is useless." There was a long pause on the other end of the line, "Ok....." As Pip held his head low, his ears perked when he heard the door on the other end of the bridge slide open and the three Diamond dogs cart in a hospital bed. In it lay a yellow Mare, her pink mane lay at her side as she stared at him while they carted her to her destination. However, another cross blast from Sachiel shook the entire base, causing the trio of canines to fall into the LCL. Fido surfaced holding both Spot and Rover in opposite hands by the lab coats. Laying them on the bridge, he pulled himself aboard and gasped for air. However, Fluttershy's bed had tipped to it's side, spilling the injured any onto the hard floor. Upon hearing her scream in pain, Pip ran to her rescue. He held the battered adult mare in his forelegs, he body trembling in pain. Tears streamed down her face as she huffed. Her back leg was in a full cast, the foreleg on her right side was bent outwards, having broken yet again from the fall. Her eyes opened, her teal irises were red from her tears. "She's beautiful..." He thought to himself. He bit his lip as he looked back to the Eva. He swallowed and turned back to Rarity and rainbow Dash who looked at him with knowing eyes. "Alright, I'll do it... I'll pilot the Eva..." A small grin spread amongst Twilight's features, "Excellent, you three, escort Pip to the entry plug station." "Yes ma'am." the trio of canines said in unison, standing at attention. XXXXX "Moving Eva-01 to launch site!" Announced Tara. However, his thoughts were cut short when the chamber began to fill with crimson , clear fluid. He gasped and took in a deep breath of air. "That is LCL fluid," said Tara, "Once it's in your lungs your blood will be entirely oxygenated." The young colt inhaled the fluid, shuttering as his lungs felt heavy in his chest, "I feel nauseous.." He winced. "Stop whining for a change," said Rainbow Dash in annoyance, "You're a stallion, act like one." "Launch way is all clear..." Tara announced to Rainbow Dash as Eva Unit-01's neon green shoulders were fastened to the elevator, "Evangelion, launch!" The robot raced up the launch way, the chamber at the top opening. Evangelion rose to the surface, its yellow eyes flashing as Sachiel stopped in it's tracks, it's eyes dancing across the violet titan that stood before him. Slowly Eva Unit-01 raised it's head, steam hissing from her neck joints. "Pip, can you hear me?" He heard Discord's voice over the transmitter. "Yes," he answered in a shaky voice. "Good, now, simply focus on walking for now." As the Eva raised it's foot to walk forward, the arm's of the Angel extended and locked it's craw like fingers on the Eva's leg's, pulling it off balance and towards itself. Pip screamed in surprise as he nearly pissed himself, trembling in fear as he came face to face with the ugly beast that gazed down at him. It held the Eva's neck with it's right hand, it's fore arms swelling as it twisted at the throat of the cyborg. Pip grasped his throat as he struggled to breathe, the other hand of the Angel twists and crushed the left arm, the broken limb hanging loosely. Unable to take the immeasurable pain, the pinto colt passed out. The Angel then locked it's clawed hand on the Cyborg's head, it's violet saber elbow began to repeatedly hack away at the thick alloy that clad Eva's head. After several tries, the armor gave, pinning the Eva to a nearby sky scraper. Blood sprayed from Eva as Sachiel locked his hand around her throat, it was time for it to finish this short lived battle. "Damage report!?" Rarity spastically asked. Tara's eyes went wide with horror "Left arm and the neck are broken, severe damage to the cranium. No, the pilot has flat lined!" Discord raised his brows and looked to Twilight. She sat as she always did, hooves together, brows furrowed. "Dammit.." Rainbow Dash bit her lip, "Enough, prioritize saving the pilot!" "No good," Tara spun around in her chair, "The main system is rejecting the order!" "What?" the cyan mare gasped in disbelief. From within the cockpit, Pip Squeaks eyes snapped open, his eyes going wide as the veins became prevalent, making them bloodshot. "Every single, one of you..." He slowly growled, smiling dementedly as he felt the LCL in the chamber become, one with his being. First he felt like the controller, now he felt like he was one ... One with the Eva... What was it within this Eva, that was, merging with him? "Evangelion has reactivated! Synchronization is at two hundred percent!" "Impossible!" Rarity pushed tara aside, "The life signs of Pip were negative!" Eva Unit 01 grabbed holt of Sachiel's arm, pulling it from hand her throat and kicking back the Angel, sending it sliding on it's back through the city streets. The bolts around it's mouth snapped, hot steam exhaling from the Eva's maw as it breathed, the green neon components of its body slowly flushing a blood red. It's neck snapped back into place as a throaty growl emanated from it's mouth. Rainbow's eyes looked on in disbelief at what she was seeing on the screen. What the hell did Twilight create, "It's gone berserk..." Rearing it's head back, the ivory teeth of the Evangelion glistened in the dim light as it released a blood chilling roar. With a leap and a flip in the air, it landed on the Angel, tackling the beast and sending it crashing into the street below. Evangelion gave the Angel a few powerful jabs to it's stomach before the arms of the monster grabbed hold of it, yanking Eva-01 off it itself and tossing the cyborg back to where it came. Evangelion landed on it's feet, turning around and charging Sachiel. "It's done..." mumbled Discord. Sachiel quickly regained its composure and hunched forward, shrieking as it extended it's hand, it's elbow spike illuminating a violet color as it retracted, shooting forward in an attempt to skewer the Eva. The attack punched Eva's chest who growled in annoyance, having become numb to pain. It grabbed hold of the spear like appendage, and with a roar splintered it from Sachiel's forearm. Sachet grabbed Eva's wrists in an attempt to restrain the beast as it used it's trump card attack, firing a bright blue Cross shaped blast. The Eva stepped back from this assault, but to Sachiel's surprise, it endured the entire attack. "I'll kill, every fucking one of you..." Eva grabbed the limb and crushed it in the Eva's hand, kicking the Angel back. The Angel about caught it's balance, however, a quick violet blast from the forehead of Evangelion tore through it's thick hide, damaging the Angel's core. Eva roared defiantly, it's feet leaving indentations in the pavement as it gave under his weight. Though badly injured, the Angel hunched forward as it recovered from the blast's recoil, bringing forth it's energy field. "It's an AT field!" Tara announced in shock. "No," Rainbow Dash felt her stomach grow heavy, "With that AT field, Eva can't even touch it!" The Eva looked at it's own limp arm, and to the shock of those in the control room, the limb popped and twisted as it quickly regenerated, splaying it's fingers for all to see as it grunted in satisfaction. "Amazing..." Rainbow Dash said, struck with awe. Twilight's brows raised ever so slightly at this, her creation's abilities even more astounding than she had intended. Evangelion dug it's fingers into the AT field, slowly bringing the wall of energy apart. It growled as Pip jammed the controls over and over as sweat dripped down his brow, his eyes wide with craze. With a scream, Eva Unit-01 tore down the AT field, spreading the wall in two directions. "The AT field..." Rarity trembled, "It tore right through it..." Evangelion uppercutted the Angel with it's regenerated arm, the fist burying itself in the Angels' body. "Every last fucking one of you!" Pip screamed as the Angel fell to it's back. Eva waited no time in leaping onto the downed beast, driving it's fists into the monster's flesh over and over. One blow crushed it's "face", covering Evangelion in blood. The blood steamed in the cold morning air off of Evangelion's heated armor. Blood dripped down it's forearm as it stared towards the permanent morning sun.."All of you, every one of you..." He said repeatedly. The Angel gave one last shrill shriek before it wrapped its tendril like arms around Eva-01, its body morphing into a ball the encased the entire cyborg. "Energy stability in the target is going haywire!" Tara's eyes danced over the screen, "No, would it?" "What?" Rainbow asked, sweat dripping from her brow. "It's going to self destruct!" Tara screamed in shock. There was a blinding flash that illuminated the control room, making everyone turn away and cover their eyes. Twilight merely squinted at the light. As the flash died down, Tara immediately typed away at the motherboard as the screen went to static. When the signal came clear, all they could see was a crimson sea of flames. Seconds turned into hours as they scanned the area for any signs of the Eva. "Is Eva?" Asked Rover, his two lackeys standing to his right and left. "No," Fido shook his head, "Impossible, there is no way that allow would go up in smoke-" he slowly lowered his paw as Eva unit one marched slowly into view. "Well, Twilight." Rarity said monotonously, "It seems you've done it." "That I have," She grinned from behind her hooves. Evangelion came to a standing halt. Whatever had awakened that hellish potential had finally laid to rest. She put her hooves onto the tabletop and nodded in satisfaction, "That I have."
