> Fusion Reunion > by Ice Flower > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Fusion Reunion > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once, long ago there were two gems that were best friends. Ruby and Sapphire fused together, and with their love for each other, kept the relationship strong enough to remain as Garnet. That all had long since passed. The home world gems came and split Ruby and Sapphire and locked them up at opposite ends of the world. For thousands of years, there they had remained. Pinkie Pie looked at her map. “It should be right about here!” the pink pony said, as her hoof made a noise after hitting something metal. She deeply gasped, as her eyes grew wide. “The golden whisk!!” The whisk was partially buried under a rock. As much as Pinkie tried to pull and pry it out the whisk would not budge. “Noooooo!” she yelled out after she finally gave up trying to get it free. In a cave very near there some one heard Pinkie's cries. “Hello?” Ruby cried out. “I - Is some one there?” Pinkie heard faint cries coming from a nearby cave, and went to see what they were. Inside, the cave was different from what she had expected. Instead of having jagged, rocky walls, the walls were smooth stone, that was shaped into a room. Along the walls there was some equipment, most of which Pinkie did not know what it was used for. At the far end of the room, what caught Pinkie's attention the most, was a yellow bubble that imprisoned the red gem she had heard speaking. “Who are you?” the gem asked quickly. The pony started chattering. “My name's Pinkie Pie! Nice bubble! What's it for? Are you out here because you're evil and this is your lair? What's that on your hand?” Before Ruby had time to respond to anything Pinkie went over to the bubble. Right as she was starting to touch it, Ruby called out, “Stop!” “What?” Pinkie asked as her hoof fully entered the bubble. Ruby gasped at what she saw: where her hoof was, all the way down to the floor, the bubble was gone. On Pinkie's hoof, running halfway up, were thin yellow lines that branched off into thinner and thinner lines. “How are you doing that!” Ruby tried touching the bubble, and was zapped. “Ouch!” she said rubbing her hand. “Let me out of here. Please!” Ruby begged Pinkie. Pinkie Pie looked at her suspiciously, and asked “How do I know I can trust you?” “Please! I'll do anything! I can tell you who I am! I'm a Crystal gem, I came to earth and have been trying to protect it from the home world gems! I need to find Sapphire! It's been so long that we have been apart! Please!” Ruby fervently begged. Pinkie pondered it for a moment. “Well... I do need some help getting out the golden whisk.” “Deal.” Ruby quickly replied. Pinkie stood on her hind legs under the bubble, leaving a hole that Ruby could fit through. Ruby swiftly slid through. “Let's go then.” she said to Pinkie. Pinkie led Ruby outside, to the rock that the golden whisk was under. “So, can you help me get it?” Pinkie asked, looking at the gem. In response, Ruby summoned her weapon, which was a gauntlet, and punched the rock, cracking it into three pieces. With the whisk now accessible, Pinkie went over and grabbed it, and put it into her saddlebag. “Thanks! Now it's time for us to complete your quest.” Ruby looked at her, confused. “What do you mean?” “Your friend, silly.” Pinkie said. “Where will we look for her?” “What do you mean 'we'? I can find her by myself,” Ruby said, starting to walk away. “I can't do that – it would be breaking the agreement we made.” Pinkie said. Ruby groaned. “Fine, but I'm not stopping for you.” “That's okay,” Pinkie said smiling. “I'll still stop for you.” Ruby sighed and started walking. Pinkie started asking Ruby questions. “So, who are you?” “Ruby,” was the only reply she gave, without looking up at the pony. “What's on your hand?” she asked. “My gem” Ruby said. She was not interested in talking. “Why were you there?” “Because.” Ruby was growing annoyed at the pony. “Because why?” Pinkie asked. "Because of the home world gems.” She was now speaking through clenched teeth. “Who are they?” “Arghh!” Ruby yelled. “I don't want to talk about it!” “Okay, then I can tell you about me.” Pinkie said excitedly. “NO!” Ruby yelled out. Steam was now coming off of her head and arms. After that, they kept walking in silence. They had been walking for about four hours, and the sky was getting dark. By now, Ruby had cooled down some. “Aren't we going to stop for the night?” Pinkie asked Ruby. “No. We keep going. You can leave at any time.” Pinkie said nothing more. They walked a couple more hours in darkness. Ruby thought she saw something moving in front of them. She stopped walking for a moment, looking at where the shadow had gone. “What are we doing?” Pinkie asked. She had stopped too. “Nothing.” Ruby said, and she started walking again. A few minutes later, Ruby saw it again. It was bigger and darker now, and Pinkie saw it too. Suddenly, a large, yellowish gem jumped out, blocking their path. “Jasper.” Ruby said, rather quietly, as she summoned her weapon. “Do you really think that you can beat me now that you're alone? The only reason you even had a chance last time was because you were fused.” Jasper said, laughing spitefully. Pinkie spoke up. “She's not alone!” Jasper looked at Pinkie. “And what is a weak pony going to do?” She looked back at Ruby. “Thankfully, I don't have to worry about taking you back home. My orders are to destroy you here. And that includes all of your friends too.” She said the last part with a sneer, while looking at Pinkie. “At least you can't disgrace yourself more by fusing with her. I suppose you should also know that as soon as I'm done with you I'm going to visit Sapphire. Any last messages you want to give her?” “What is fusion, and why can't you fuse with me?” Pinkie asked Ruby. “You have to have a gem” she replied. “Well I do have my Element of Harmony gem.” Pinkie said thoughtfully. “Go ahead and try.” Jasper said laughing. “Amuse me.” “Stop wasting time! It won't work!” Ruby yelled. “Do it!” Jasper thundered. “I don't want you to die until you have made fools of yourselves.” Reluctantly, and with a glare at Jasper, Ruby went over to Pinkie Pie. Pinkie took her element out of her bag, and put the necklace on. “Now we have to dance.” Ruby said angrily. ”Ooh I love dancing!” Pinkie said, squealing slightly. Ruby said nothing, but started dancing gracefully. Pinkie did the same. Jasper started laughing. She did not notice the faint glowing coming from the gems. Ruby and Pinkie however, did. Ruby gasped at the glow from the light blue, balloon shaped jewel that was around Pinkie's neck, and saw the glow on her hand, that kept continually growing. Jasper gasped in shock as Pinkie and Ruby were surrounded by light and joined together. She stared at the light red centaur, now standing before her. “What! How can you fuse? You're a pony, not a gem!”, Jasper spat out with disgust. The centaur said, “I am a Gem of Harmony. My mission is to spread friendship and harmony, and to protect this planet from you!” Jasper ran towards her, preparing to attack, but was met with a hard hit from a gauntlet. Jasper was then blinded by confetti and streamers, which were shot out of a cannon. While she could not see, she was kicked in the face, by the hind legs of the centaur. The kick was so hard, that it cracked Jasper's gem, which was on her nose. She fell to the ground. Her body disappeared, leaving only the cracked gem on the ground. “You will never conquer this planet! We have the power of both ponies and gems, and whatever you try, we will always stop you!” the centaur said before walking away. After walking for a few minutes, Ruby and Pinkie came apart. “That was fun!” Pinkie said happily. “I'm sorry Pinkie Pie.” Ruby said. “I've been treating you so badly, and yet you have still been so kind to me. Thank you, for coming to help save Sapphire, and for saving me from Jasper.” Pinkie hugged Ruby and said “What are friends for?” After a moment, Ruby returned the hug. They decided to stop for the rest of the night. As they sat around a fire, roasting and eating marshmallows that Pinkie had brought, they told each other all about themselves, and Ruby told Pinkie some things about Sapphire. “And when we fuse we make Garnet.” “And you stay like that all the time?” Pinkie asked. “Yep.” Ruby replied. They soon went to sleep, so as to not be tired for the remainder of their journey the next day. They started walking early in the morning. By early afternoon, they were in the area that Sapphire was. As they grew closer, they gradually started hearing singing. After they had been hearing it for a while Ruby recognized it. “That's Sapphire!” she exclaimed. They kept on, hurrying now, towards the singing. It wasn't long before they saw a cave. The song was coming from inside, so Pinkie and Ruby went in. The yellow bubble was identical to the one where Pinkie had found Ruby. Pinkie went over to the bubble and opened it so the blue gem could get out. “Hi I'm Pinkie Pie! Are you Sapphire? Ruby told me all about you!” As Pinkie continued talking, Sapphire and Ruby ran to one another. They danced a while, and, after a flash of light, Ruby and Sapphire were replaced with a tall, maroon colored gem. “Thank you for getting us back together Pinkie Pie.” Garnet said. “Ooh an accent! I love accents!” Pinkie said, referring to garnet's English accent. Garnet just laughed. The group made their way to Pony Ville after Pinkie Pie had enticed Garnet with one of her world-famous parties. Pinkie Pie invited the whole town to attend the 'Welcome back Garnet' party. Eventually, Garnet had to get back to her home to continue saving the earth. But every so often she goes to see a special friend who lives in a little town called Pony Ville.
