> The Night smells of Lavender > by Dark0592 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prologue- Nightmare Night > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The tears of a goddess. Legend states that they are so rare they could grant wishes. If that was so then all of Ponyville would be getting what they wished for tonight for they were pouring down Luna's cheeks. Nightmare Night. She thought it would go well. It did, for a few moments. However short lived it was, the fun she had was amazing. It was thanks to that Twilight Sparkle, her sister's student. If Luna's mood and mind wasn't clouded with sadness she may have been able to realize the crush she had on the Unicorn. But now all she could think of how her subjects were no longer hers to care for, for a princess with fearful subjects deserves no subjects. Something new was in the area. Her nostrils twitched as she detected a scent. It was familiar, yet new. It was the Night, but it had something in it. The familiar scent was laced with a sweet, clean scent. The Night smelled of Lavender. “I'm sorry Princess...” she heard extremely close to her, a sniff sounding directly afterwards. Startled, Luna quickly wiped her eyes, albeit clumsily, and was shocked to find the source of the familiar scent of Lavender, Twilight Sparkle, lying right next to her with tears of her own. “T-Twilight Sparkle.” she asked with confusion. “You came here hoping for a good n-night and it was ruined...I only wanted to help, I just made it worse...” Twilight said, sobs threatening to break out. “No...not your fault...the fault is mine for coming so soon after...my return...” Luna said, more to herself than Twilight. “You had every right to do so...I'm the one who pushed you into trying to do things...” Twilight retorted. “You didn't mean it to end like this...” Luna said. “But that doesn't matter. I just wanted nothing more than to be your friend and help you...but good intentions doesn't make anything better...” Twilight said, another sniff finding it's way out. “...you...you wanted to be my...friend?...why?” Luna asked. “W-why?...what do you mean why?...you deserve friendship just as much as anypony else...besides...you're a really good pony...” Twilight explained, as if it was obvious. “A good pony?...Tch...a good pony wouldn't try to oust the day...” Luna retorted darkly. “Princess...that wasn't you...that was Nightmare Moon...” Twilight said. “No...I am Nightmare Moon...she was born from me...my jealousy...my hate...she is a part of me just as my magic is...” Luna continued, snorting. “The fact that she isn't out here while you're in a vulnerable state tells me if she is a part of you, you're in control...now please...let me be your friend...we can still salvage tonight if you have a friend.” Twilight said. Luna was shocked at the hopeful twinkle in the Mare's eyes. “How?” Luna asked. “Anything can be made better with Friendship.” Twilight replied. “Why are you trying so hard to make things better for me? You owe me no favors...” Luna asked. “Why are you avoiding friendship? Every time I get to it you change the subject...I'm trying so hard because I want to be your friend, you need one and I'm glad to be the one to do it.” Twilight said, annoyance creeping into her tone as she stared down the princess. “I'm...scared....of friendship...of letting somepony I don't know close...I only have my sister...” Luna admitted softly. “I understand that perfectly...we have a lot in common if I think about it...if you accept my friendship we can find all of that out. That's what Friendship is, getting to know somepony else and being there for each other...” Twilight explained. After a few moments Twilight's ears drooped as Luna's response never came. She was shocked however when it finally came in the form of an embrace. Her face lit up as Luna held her tightly. “Twilight Sparkle...nopony has ever offered to be my Friend...I am still afraid of this...but...I know I need not fear with you...” Luna said, unintentionally getting a large waft of the Unicorn's mane. It naturally smelled of magic and Lavender. “Of course Princess. I'll do everything in my power to be a good friend.” Twilight replied, doing the same. Luna smelled of the Night. A more detailed description would be that of a soft, grassy field just after it rained mixed with that unique smell that could be only described as the Night. As they held each other, Luna realized something. It may just be a part of this new friendship thing, but as she pulled back and looked at the Unicorn she had to resist the urge to press her lips into the Mare's. She felt love for this Mare. Tia had once described Friendship as loving another so she assumed it was normal for her to feel this way, but -wisely- prompted not to indulge upon this feeling. “I hear the towns ponies coming...I've got an idea...” Twilight started, looking towards the sound of voices in the distance. Luna cautiously listened. --- “Favoritest princess ever eh?” Twilight said with a sideways glance and a grin as she walked the princess of the Night to her Chariot. “I guess so...Twilight...I have to thank you...I couldn't have had such a good time without you...” Luna replied. “Of course Princess.” Twilight replied with a smile. “Luna...” Luna said softly with a smile. “Huh?” “It's Luna...I don't like all those formalities...it's just an empty title...Princess...I'd rather just be Luna...but Tia says Equestria needs balance so I Oblige.” she continued. “Oh um...ok...Luna...so Friends?” Twilight asked. “Friends.” Luna replied. They both grinned at each other as they neared the Chariot. “Do you think you could come back soon? I'll be busy with things here for a while or I'd come and visit you and your sister- I mean if you're not too busy of course.” Twilight rambled slightly. “I would like nothing better.” Luna answered. “Great, I'd be willing to house you at the Library any time. I guess you have to go now.” Twilight started, but changed the subject when one of the Night Guards snorted. “I had better. Farewell Twilight Sparkle, we shall see thee at another time.” Luna replied, slipping back into the old tongue. --- “What's the matter sister?” Celestia asked upon seeing Luna looking out of her window in her chambers with a very unreadable expression. “I suppose you heard about Nightmare Night...” Luna said lowly. “I heard it started out bad, but you wound up enjoying yourself greatly.” Celestia answered. “That is correct...I owe the enjoyment to your student, Twilight Sparkle. Without her the night would have ended in disaster.” Luna explained. “She wrote me telling me of it. To tell the truth, I was surprised at how good of friends you have become.” Celestia started with a smile. “What do you mean?” Luna asked. “Over the years I have been able to read Twilight like the books she adores...even through a letter. I can tell you with no doubt she has a crush on you sister.” Celestia replied, her smile turning into a grin. Luna racked her brain for a moment to remember what the modern usage for that word was. She sighed when she did. “I know Tia...but that's not the problem here...” Luna said. Celestia gave her a confused look. “I...have a...crush...back...but I don't know what to do about it...” Luna said lowly. If Celestia's grin was any wider, she would have torn her cheek muscles. “Go visit her then. Spend time with her and her friends. Get to know each other. Admit your crush. Just go and have fun.” Celestia listed off. “But what about you?” Luna asked. “I handled things myself for centuries. I can do it for a few nights. Besides, the week after holidays like Nightmare Night are always slow going- ponies still returning to work and such. Even with you away I'll still have time for myself. Go and have fun.” Celestia said. “Right now?” Luna asked. “If you want. I would take your captain with you as well, she deserves a vacation...she only takes a break when you sleep.” Celestia suggested. “Shadow Wing? She is a kind company. Very Well, I would like to leave in the morning though...Everypony would be exhausted from such a night anyways.” Luna said. “It's all up to you sister.” Celestia said. Luna smiled and Celestia left her quarters. > C.1 Parties and Compromises > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “You summoned me Princess?” Shadow Wing asked, entering the dining hall as Luna sat down for breakfast. “Yes Captain. Please, sit and have breakfast with me. I'd like to speak to you.” Luna said, offering the seat next to her with a smile as two plates of pancakes and salads were placed in their places. “...alright then...” Shadow replied, cautiously doing as she was told. “You are probably the closest thing to a Friend I have here in Canterlot. I'm taking a little vacation to Ponyville for a few days and You will accompany me.” Luna said with a smile. “Of course Princess.” Shadow said. “I don't think you understand. It's a vacation for you as well. I hear you're just as bad as I when it comes to taking breaks.” Luna said. “but I don't want a vacation Princess...” Shadow said. “Oh but you need one. Everypony needs time off to do what they want. Come with me and just have fun in ponyville.” Luna retorted. “...Alright I guess...” Shadow conceded. “Great! We will be leaving after breakfast, is this acceptable?” Luna asked. “I see no problem with it.” Shadow replied. --- “Is something bothering you?” Luna asked as the two walked to Ponyville, having been dropped off by the Chariot just out of sight range. “Why did we land? I don't like having to walk so far with just the two of us...” Shadow replied, keeping one eye on the forest around them. They were walking along the border of the everfree. “Stop doing your job and relax Shadow Wing. We landed so it won't be a formal entry or anything like that.” Luna answered. “...Ok...I'll try...” Shadow conceded. Luna chuckled as six familiar forms made their way towards them. “Princess Luna? What are you doing here?” Twilight asked.” “Tia told me I needed a vacation. I could think of no other place but Ponyville. This is Shadow Wing, the captain of my Night Guard. She's on vacation as well though.” Luna explained. “That's great! The Library is big but it might be a tight fir for both of you.” Twilight exclaimed. “I've got a lot of work to do for the next few days at the weather station, if not I'd have let one of you stay with me.” Dash said. “I would too! But mr. and mrs. cake are off in Trottingham and technically I don't own Sugarcube Corner.” Pinkie admitted. “We got thuh space, but Ah don' think yuh'd want t'be woken up at thuh crack a'dawn tuh work in thuh fields.” Applejack said. “I would love to house you Darling, but my little sister is occupying it for the week.” Rarity said “It's Alright girls, we can manage.” Twilight assured her friends. “Um...actually...I have space...and um...the animals are friendly enough...” Fluttershy said softly. “Really? You sure Fluttershy?” Twilight asked. “Um...yes...I'm sure.” Fluttershy said with a tiny smile. “Well why are we worrying about where we're going to sleep when we have a party to go to?!” Pinkie screamed and bounced into the air. “...Dare I ask but what party darling?” Rarity asked. “It's a 'Welcome back to ponyville Princess Luna and welcome to ponyville Shadow Wing have lots of fun!' Party of course!” Pinkie exclaimed matter-of-factly. “Oh of course, how could we not know that?” Dash said with a grin. “Well come on everypony let's gooooooo!” Pinkie said mid-bounce and, from her spot two feet in the air, suddenly sped off towards sugar cube corner. “What...just happened?” Luna asked. “Pinkie Pie just happened...” Twilight mumbled as they followed. --- the streets were nearly deserted as they made their way to the party pony's abode. It gave the group worry, that is until they turned the corner to see the bakery. There were Ponies everywhere, party decorations everywhere. They entered and Pinkie appeared from the rafters to float down like a sheet of paper. “Hey guys glad you could make it!” she said. “Pinkie, you told us about it first...” Dash said. “I know that silly! I'm still glad you made it!” Pinkie retorted. She landed on the ground and swiftly bounced to the front of the room. “Alrighty then everypony! I'm gunna have to ask all the little Fillies and Colts to sit this one out. I know, I hate making ponies leave just as much as you hate leaving but I'll make it up to you with a big super Foal-only party later!” Pinkie announced. There was a resounding 'Awww' but the underage foals filed out anyways, along with some parents. “Oh it's THIS kind of party.” Twilight said with a chuckle as she and Luna found themselves a relatively empty corner to settle in. “What do you mean?” Luna asked as Twilight floated two cups of punch over. “Why would the number one party pony dismiss the younger Party-goers?” Twilight asked rhetorically as she wafted one of the beverages to Luna's nose. She detected a blend of fruit and the tickle of Alcohol with a hint of apples. “Smells like Applejack Daniels.” Twilight commented as Luna's cup came into her own magical grip. They both sipped at it and smiled. “This is very good. How long do you think this party would last?” Luna asked. “As long as there's at least one pony still partying it won't end...one time Dash and Pinkie partied for three days straight...” Twilight replied. “What was the party for?” Luna asked. “Dash perfected a flight routine.” Twilight answered. “Those are two crazy ponies.” Luna said with a smile. --- “C'mon Lu~ w'gotta get home...” Twilight mumbled with a fit of giggles as the two stumbled their way down the street. “Oh but the party is still goin' Twi~ I don' wanna sleep.” Luna replied. “But we gotta...Spi-ike! Y'awake?!” Twilight replied, yelling into the house as they entered the Library. “Yeah...whoa...are you drunk?” Spike asked, coming down the stairs. “She's no' drunk she Wasted!” Luna blurted out, causing the two to cackle loudly. “Oh great...I got the spare bed prepared like you asked me, I'm guessing you had fun at the party?” Spike said. “Yes~.” the two sang and broke into another fit of giggles. “Whatever I'm going to bed...” Spike said. He went upstairs, came back down with his basket- to attempt to get some sleep without the two drunken Mares waking him trying to get up the stairs- and fell asleep. “He's such a...good little dragon...” Luna whispered- albeit rather loudly- to Twilight as they looked at the sleeping dragon. “I know....s'my number one assistant...like m' little brother...sometime even son... Dunno...I'm tired...” Twilight said, finishing with a large yawn. “Me too...” Luna replied sleepily. When they finally made it to Twilight's room, where a small bed was next to Twilight's oversized one, Luna refused to take the big one as did Twilight. “C'mon Lu~ you're big and that bed is small...” Twilight reasoned. “You callin' me fat?!” Luna exclaimed. “No...I'm callin' you bi boned.” Twilight retorted. They looked at each other for a solid five second before breaking out into laughter, Luna leaning on Twilight for support. “Oh fine!” Luna started as she plopped down on Twilight's bed. “Compromise!” she said softly as she pulled the Lavender Mare down with her. They giggled d yawned wide. Twilight looked at Luna as the last of their giggles died down. They were snugly embraced as they stared. After a few moments their lips met. It was a sloppy drunken kiss, but it was still full of passion they had no idea the other had. When they separated they looked at each other dumbly, then broke into a light fit of giggles. “Good night Twilight Sparkle.” Luna whispered. “'Night Luna...” Twilight mumbled as sleep found them both rather quickly. > C.2 the morning after > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- (A/N sorry if this one seems a bit rushed but I was determined to get this out today and I had to write the entire chapter in an hour and a half- I'm going to kalahari for school- and I only had one page done last night. hope you enjoy this little piece of character building) Luna was distantly aware that she wasn't in her own bed, but she remembered she was in Ponyville. She was then aware of the smell of Lavender. This wasn't distantly. This was 'oh my god did someone cram Lavender up my nose and mouth?!'. As she opened her eyes her head almost literally exploded, a pained groan escaping her lips. She tasted something odd on them, but chose to ignore it. She heard another groan and was aware she was part under another pony. That pony was Twilight Sparkle, and she was using Luna's chest as a pillow, their forelegs wrapped around each other. They locked eyes and Twilight remembered everything. Her face flushed up as she tried to wriggle her way out of their position, but was surprised to find Luna was holding her closer. “Please don't go Twilight...this is...very nice...” Luna pleaded. Twilight knew this very well, and now that the Princess was actually asking for it she couldn't object, though to avoid revealing this she made a halfhearted protest. An hour later the sun told them it wasn't quite as early as before, so they decided to get up. “I Apologize Twilight Sparkle...” Luna said as they brushed their manes. “About w-what?” Twilight asked, a feeling of dread forming in her gut. Did the princess regret last night? “For keeping you in bed like that...it was selfish, but I just didn't want it to stop.” Luna replied a bit sheepishly. Twilight stared for a moment, but shook her head a moment with a slight chuckle. “No you were right, it was nice...do...do you remember anything from last night?” Twilight asked. Luna scrunched her face in concentration as she picked through her memory. “I remember we got really drunk and stumbled home...we had some sort of dispute...and...I...pulled you into bed? That's all I remember...oh Lord...we didn't-” Luna remembered. “No no no! no...we didn't do anything like that!...well...not entirely...” Twilight cut her off, ending a bit sheepishly. “...Twilight...is there something I don't remember?” Luna asked a bit cautiously, not sure if she wanted to know the answer. “...yes...” Twilight sighed. “...This isn't my first morning after a night of drink Twilight...I've awoken to very strange things...not quite as far as you might imagine, but you've assured me if it was anything it wasn't that far either so you couldn't possibly offend me. Did I say things when I was drunk? Did I...get...clingy?” Luna began asking, thinking of things alcohol has done to her in the past. “No...well, you were a bit clingy...but...well...um...we kind of...kissed...” Twilight said. “Well that's not so bad...we were drunk...right?” Luna retorted. Twilight flinched a bit and a look of hurt flashed on her face, but she quickly shook it away. “It...it was more than just a drunken Mare's alcohol poisoned mind's escapade...it...there was so much passion in it...and...I returned it...” Twilight said, looking awkwardly up at the princess. “...I...we...you...” Luna started, trying to get the words out. Twilight sighed as a defeated look found it's way on her face. Luna sighed as she gave up on words, instead taking action. She put a hoof under Twilight's chin, pulled her face up and planted a gentle kiss on her lips. Twilight was surprised for a few moments, but returned it after a few moments. Luna gave an ever so slight moan as Twilight slipped her tongue into her mouth, both of their faces putting Big Macintosh's red coat to shame. “Hey Princess, Twilight you u-oh ok never mind!” Spike said, entering the room and instantly turned around and returned from where he came. The two Mares yelped and separated, embarrassment only eclipsed by the disappointment of the sudden end to their unplanned make out session. “O-oh god...Spike...” Twilight stuttered. “Um...well...I guess that answers my question I had yet to ask of how to tell him...” Luna mumbled. Twilight smiled weakly, but ten gained a sad face as she slumped to the ground. “What's wrong?” Luna asked. “...What will everypony think of us? I'm not ashamed of it...but I'm worried they'll all see badly on us...as long as my friends don't I'll be fine but...you're a princess...if your subjects think bad of you...” Twilight started, but Luna stopped her with a hoof on her shoulder. “Twilight I would endure another thousand years of isolation if it meant I could be with you...besides...I'm not really a princess anymore...the only thing I do now is raise the moon and put the servants on their guard...I came to ponyville on nightmare night because I was receiving the same treatment as when I first arrived back in Canterlot...but now that Ponyville seems to have accepted me I'll be spending a lot of time here...now even more so.” Luna explained. “If you're fine with it then I am...” Twilight said. “With what?” “Going public...” Twilight replied. “Well...maybe not just yet...the other elements of course will be told first...but let's make sure we both want this...I'm fine if it doesn't go any further than this though so don't worry about being pushed.” Luna said, nuzzling the unicorn. Twilight sighed but returned the affection. “Right...well...let's go make sure Spike isn't scarred for life...” Twilight said. Luna nodded with a giggle. --- “Spike?” Twilight called in the library. “In here...” his voice came from the kitchen. They found him making pancakes and muttering to himself. “Spike...you ok?” Twilight asked. “Yeah...were you two really doing that or was I still dreaming?” Spike asked, putting the pan down and looking at them. “That depends on what you saw.” Luna retorted. Spike rolled his eyes. “I saw the pony that's practically my mom making out with Princess Luna...” Spike said flatly. “Oh what's wrong with that Spike?” Twilight asked with a frown. “Just...nothing...it just shocked me...you ever walk in on your parents when they were doing that?” Spike retorted. “...I don't really remember but I get what you're saying.” Twilight answered. “You don't remember?” Luna asked. “Well...Last time I saw them was when I was enrolled into the school for gifted unicorns...I mean every now and then when I was in Canterlot I'd pass them and we'd spend an hour talking...but I really haven't seen them.” Twilight replied. “Really now? So Tia has been your mother figure all this while?” Luna asked. “I guess so.” Twilight shrugged. “Well then, we should pay them a visit. I am interested to meet them.” Luna said. “Oh...um...maybe...” Twilight answered. “So what are you gonna tell everypony else?” Spike asked. “We don't know...we'll just- oh I'll get it.” Twilight started as she was cut off by a knock at the door. She opened it to reveal a red faced Fluttershy and a sheepish Shadow Wing. “What's wrong with you?” Spike asked. Fluttershy just squeaked as her face went to a darker shade of red. Shadow sighed and explained what had happened. --- “But I'm not Tired~ Shadow I wanna play a game!” Fluttershy giggled as they entered the tree cottage, Fluttershy leaning heavily on the gray mare. The two had talked for most of the all-day party and they both found Fluttershy couldn't handle her alcohol. When she was drunk she became the opposite of shy. She had already made many raunchy comments as they walked home. Shadow didn't mind though, this Mare was really cute. “Come on Fluttershy, you're drunk.” Shadow said with a grin as she stumbled on nothing. “But so are you!” Fluttershy retorted from her place on the ground, flailing her hooves for emphasis. “Not as much s'you” Shadow said. “Well...um...well...so are you!” Fluttershy attempted to retort, but just made the both of them laugh. After ten minutes of stumbling and half-assed drunk flirting they finally made it into the bedroom. The bed look really inviting so neither mare let anything stop them from snuggling up in it's cloudy embrace. “You know Fluttershy...you're adorable.” Shadow giggled as they stared at each other. “I know...so are you!” Fluttershy retorted, nuzzling the other Pegasus. Shadow giggled as her brain completely shut off. Without even hesitating she caught the not-so-shy-anymore mare in a kiss. It wasn't full of passion, but it had enough to be real. Fluttershy wasted no time in returning it. Soon Fluttershy was on top of the other Mare, nibbling on her jaw-line. Fluttershy slowly made her way downward. --- “You had a one night stand with the Element of Kindness?” Luna asked with a sly grin. “W-w-we were Drunk! And-and...ugh...” Shadow terribly retorted. “So what are you going to do about it?” Twilight lightly asked Fluttershy. “W-we t-talked...and...w-we d-decided t-to...” Fluttershy squeaked, but nothing else was comprehensible on any sound frequency. “We decided to...uh...date I guess...” Shadow finished. “Oh that's wonderful!” Twilight and Luna said happily. “Y-you mean...you're not mad or anything?” Fluttershy asked. “Why would we be mad?” Twilight asked, confused. “Shadow...just because you have your honor as my captain doesn't mean it has to bind you like this. You're on vacation.” Luna said. “Yeah, and if you think it's because you're both Mares...why would we have a problem with that?” Twilight continued. “R-really?” Shadow asked. “Yeah...” the two answered, giving each other a glance and a nod. “We're kind of um..dating too...” Twilight said and they explained what had happened to them. > C.3 Cauldrons and Manticores > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- (A/N just some more relationship building. as of now, June 1st 2012, i have three more days with this laptop. after that updates will become rather sparse. I'll be sure to update a minimum of once a week though AT MINIMUM if possible. the story picks up more next chapter. enjoy some fluff!) “So...What's going to happen now?” Twilight asked as the four mares sat in the library. “I don't know about you two, but I am going to enjoy this vacation.” Luna said. “Well that much is obvious. But how will we do that?” Shadow asked. “While we're here I'm not your superior, do what you want. I don't have a say in your life outside of your duty.” Luna said. “u-um...I um...could use some hep with...um...some of the bigger animals...t-there was a sickness that spread so I-i'm kinda swamped.” Fluttershy offered. “I love animals, are they dangerous?” Shadow replied. “Um...no...but um...they might be a little mean at first because um...they don't know you.” Fluttershy answered. “I can handle that.” Shadow said. “Wonderful!” Luna exclaimed. “Well there's nothing else left for us here...let's go.” Shadow said. Fluttershy nodded and they left. “So is there anything I may assist you with?” Luna asked. “Not that I can think of...the books are re-shelved, reorganized and the library is spotless. Normally on a day like this I'd just sit in the library and read until something comes up.” Twilight answered. “That actually sounds quite appealing, I haven't had much of a chance to acquaint myself with modern literature.” Luna said with a smile. “While the library has much modern literature here, I prefer the classics. You might recognize a few of them.” Twilight said. Within minutes the two were reading two separate books. Twilight was reading an old novel while Luna had a realistic fiction about how life was during the dragon-griffon war as a dragon. They were shoulder to shoulder, leaning on each other, as they read. Luna wouldn't have traded this for anything. Well...almost anything, said a rather daring part of her mind. --- “Twi! Twi yuh in here?!” Applejack's voice called, banging on the front door. It had been two hours since they had settled down, Twilight opened the door with her magic as the two mares got to their hooves. “What's wrong AJ?” Twilight asked. “Applebloom an' the other Crusaders were over at Zecora's to learn about healin' herbs...they suddenly rushed into town screamin' somethin' fierce...when I finally got them to speak right they said somethin's wrong with Zecora...” Applejack explained. “Do you think it was serious?” Twilight asked, using her magic to pack a few medical books just in case. “Ah dunno...but they were mighty spooked...” Applejack replied. “Right...let's go.” Twilight said. --- “Zecora, are you alright?” Twilight asked, poking her head into the door of the hut- which had been knocked off it's hinges. “Ah...Pony Friends...I s-suppose you are h-here with a hoof t-to lend?” Zecora's long, pained voice called. They found the source, the big cauldron she used to mix her potions had been blown into many pieces. One of these fairly large pieces was pinning her to the wall. “What happened?!” Twilight exclaimed as she used her magic to examine the Zebra. “my brew exploded due to a wrong ingredient, I believe my damage is not permanent?” the Zebra explained and weirdly asked the question. “I don't think so...but when I take this off it's really going to hurt...are you ready?” Twilight asked. The Zebra nodded and braced herself. Twilight slowly but steadily pulled the large metal chunk off of the zebra. She hissed in pain as the others saw it was stabbing into her underneath, but hopefully it wasn't too serious. As the piece was removed, Luna quickly stepped up and applied her own magic. It numbed the pain and slowly repaired the damage. They asked what had happened and the Zebra answered. She was mixing a very fragile brew, but it was something she brewed commonly. It was a medical brew that would clean and speed the healing process of cuts and scrapes- which were very common in a place like ponyville. It would also act as a painkiller to the applied area- or an anesthetic if digested. Zecora sent the crusaders out with a very specific map to gather some herbs to keep them out of the way and she accidentally added the wrong thing. The reaction had been instant. The cauldron exploded and sent the zebra into the wall where a piece of it hit her and the back door fell on her while the front door blew outwards. The Crusaders rushed back and went to ponyville for help. “Twilight Sparkle, I believe I have made a disturbing find...my left eye...I believe it is blind.” Zecora said after she finished. Twilight looked at it, it had gone milky and dull. Twilight let her magic examine it for a moment, causing the Zebra to blink furiously for a moment. “The flash must have damaged it...I'm sorry, but I don't trust myself to try and fix it with magic.” Twilight said. “I may be a great healer, but my sister is better with the finer procedures...I could simply let her know you're coming. She would be glad to help a friend of the elements.” Luna said. “She must have many duties upon her lap, I can live easily with this handicap.” Zecora said with a weak smile. “Are you sure? If you ever change your mind she would be happy to help.” Twilight said. “We shall see, Twilight Sparkle. But for now your help was most remarkable.” Zecora said, shakily getting to her hooves. --- “I am sorry for your friend, it was nice of you to restore her home as well.” Luna said when they returned to the Library. “Of course, if I had more medical magic knowledge and more real medical knowledge I would have fixed her eye...but if she's alright with it then I am...I'm kind of hungry and Spike is nowhere to be seen...lunch?” Twilight asked. “Definitely.” Luna replied. The two arrived at Twilight's favorite diner for their lunch. After ten minutes of trying to convince the management they just wanted lunch as regular customers they were sitting and waiting for their food when Fluttershy and Shadow arrived. “How did your day go?” Fluttershy asked almost instantly. “Well Zecora had an accident...” Twilight started and told the tale. “Oh I'm so sorry to hear that...I wish I knew magic so I could help her...” Fluttershy said sadly. “Our day wasn't nearly as...grim...but it was eventful.” Shadow said. --- “So by bigger animals what do you mean?” Shadow asked as they walked closer to the everfree forest, “Well there's a Den of bears...a Manticore...a pack of wolves and some deer.” Fluttershy asnwered. “Bears, Wolves and a...Manticore?” Shadow asked. Fluttershy nodded. “Bears and wolves alone are dangerous...but...Manticores are extremely dangerous...” Shadow warned. “Oh I know...but the bears are so friendly and the wolves only growl at you to try and scare you until you pet them...then they turn into big babies. The Manticore is harmless, I actually met him when when we were facing Nightmare Moon...she hurt him and made him mad but I calmed him down and he let us pass...he's a really nice creature.” Fluttershy explained. “...I'll take your word for it...” Shadow said. The wolves were, in fact, big babies. They rolled around and played with Shadow as Fluttershy gave them checkups. When they reached the bears they looked from Fluttershy to Shadow. “It's ok, she's nice. She's going to help me.” Fluttershy explained. They grunted and made some odd noises and Fluttershy nodded. “She's a Night Guard so you know she won't harm you or your cubs.” Fluttershy said. After that the bears kept an eye on her, but after Fluttershy taught her how to properly massage the beasts they loved her. As they walked deeper into the everfree they heard a low growling. “That's Monty, his name.” Fluttershy said with a smile. The Manticore dropped down ten feet in front of them, seemingly from the trees. It looked evilly at the two Mares. Shadow found herself hiding behind Fluttershy, who was standing tall and unafraid, as it prowled closer. It was literally less than an inch from Fluttershy's face by the time it stopped. It towered over her, it's growl growling as it barred it's teeth. Fluttershy kissed it on the forehead and it rolled over on it's back with a happy purr. “Hello Monty, I see your fever is gone!” Fluttershy said happily. It grumbled in response. “Oh this is Shadow. You weren't the only sick friend so I needed some help” she explained. It rolled to it's feet, looked at Shadow and licked her face. It then crouched to the ground, it's rear slightly upward as it's tail flailed lazily. Shadow recognized this as either a battle stance or a playful stance. She was surprised when Fluttershy took a similar stance. The shy mare laughed as she played with the beast of a Manticore like little foals. Soon Shadow even joined in. suddenly there was a crack and the Manticore snapped to it's feet and growled low. “Oh no...” Fluttershy squeaked. “What was that?” Shadow asked. “It's an EverBeast...they're like a Manticore and a Timberwolf put together...they're scary...” Fluttershy whispered as what looked like a Manticore carved out of a tree entered the clearing. Monty growled and roared at it, but it just ignored him. It instead looked at the two ponies. It grumbled as it barred sharp teeth and drooled as it prowled to them. When it got too close Monty batted its head away with a paw. The beast now looked at Monty and attempted to lash at it with it's tail. Monty knew how to fight though. He grabbed it's tail with it's jaws and broke half of it off. The beast roared in silent pain as Monty tackled it. It kicked Monty off and ran away with it's tail in it's mouth. “Whoa!” Shadow exclaimed. “Thank you so much Monty...Who's a brave Monty...you are!” Fluttershy said, scratching under his chin. “Will that thing be ok?” Shadow asked. “Oh yes, the tail will grow back. Monty is good at fighting them, they come here all the time...he tell me he and the other manticores keep them in the forest.” Fluttershy explained. “Wow...that's...really cool.” Shadow said. --- “An EverBeast? I thought those were myths.” Twilight said. “Oh they're real. Like Timber Wolves, they're native to the everfree forest.” Fluttershy explained. “I'll have to do some research on them.” Twilight concluded. “Well this has been fun, but we finished our food an hour ago.” Luna commented. “Oh...right...” Fluttershy said. They said their goobyes, paid the bill and split up. “Fluttershy seemed a lot more confident.” Twilight said as they walked. “I noticed...perhaps Shadow is keeping her in a good mood?” Luna suggested. “I can imagine so. You sure are keeping me in a good mood.” Twilight said, nuzzling the Princess. “That would be an understatement.” Luna said, nuzzling back > C.4 Ascension > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “So...what are we?” Twilight asked after another experimental make out session. “If I interpret your meaning correctly...honestly it is up to you. Truthfully I think I fell for you when you freed me from my curse, which was fortified by you helping me on Nightmare Night.” Luna answered. “So Princess Luna- Queen of the Night and Goddess of the Moon- has fallen for a little country unicorn?” Twilight asked with a grin. “Of course! That Little country unicorn saved her life and showed her what it means to be alive and have fun again. How could she not?” Luna asked back. “Well this little country unicorn might have fallen for her dark queen too.” Twilight said, putting her muzzle under Luna's. Luna sighed in content at the affection. “Oh dear...what do we tell my sister?” Luna suddenly asked. Twilight's brain shut off. Almost literally. Her eyes widened, she gasped and feinted. Luna couldn't help but chuckle at the reaction. While she knew Twilight held her sister's opinion at probably the top of her list, Celestia' revelation of a mother-like relationship was only enforced by this. Luna would admit if she had a mother figure she would be just as scared to tell in this situation. But then she remembered, Celestia sort of HAD been her mother figure...much more than just a big sister. She smiled at that. It made so much sense if you thought about it. A mother punishes her children, a time out when they do something bad. Though with Alicorns it was bringing about eternal night and the timeout was a thousand years...but it did make sense. “Oh...Oh my...I...I completely forgot about that...and...and how old you are...” Twilight stammered. “Oh...I suppose that would pose a problem publicly...does my superior age matter to you?” Luna asked, worry evident in her voice. “Yes!...well...no...well...it does, but not enough...it's just that...you have all this knowledge and experience ...all this power...I'm just a slightly above average unicorn...” Twilight said. Luna thought of a way to rectify the situation. “Twilight...do you remember when you asked 'so what are we?'...well...I think I should give a literal answer. You are the most powerful and beautiful unicorn in Equestria. And I am the Mare lucky enough to be called her Marefriend.” Luna said, pulling Twilight into a kiss. Twilight melted into it. “GAH! Why do I ALWAYS walk in on you two doing that?!” Spike exclaimed from the doorway. They stopped the kiss and looked at the queasy-looking dragon. “Well get used to it Spike.” Twilight said with a grin. “I don't think I'll be able to...ugh...letter from Princess Celestia...” he said, handing over the letter and quickly making himself scarce. “What's it say?” Luna asked. “Let's find out. 'Dear Twilight Sparkle and Luna I hope you both are enjoying Luna's Vacation, I have acquired a day of free time tomorrow and I would love to have you both here so I don't die of boredom. If the other elements have time they would be welcome as well. Princess Celestia' Hmm...” Twilight read. “What are you thinking?” Luna asked. “This invite would be a perfect time to tell Celestia and my Friends that don't already know...” Twilight started, but there was a knock on the door. “I'll get it!” Spike called. “That would be a good chance...but to tell the truth...I told her of my feelings and She's the one who set this all up.” Luna admitted. “Really?...well...it would still be nice to let her know...” Twilight said, unsure of how to react. “U-u-uh..T-twilight?” Spike's voice came. It sounded terrified. “Spike what's wro-” Twilight started but cut herself off as the pony at the door entered. It was a Mare, taller than Luna. She had a flat, crooked horn and insect-like wings. Her eyes were simple and slightly cold, her mane was long and blue and there were holes in her wings, mane and hooves. She had rather menacing fangs. There were two similar creatures flanking her, but they looked even worse and more insect-like. “Who are you?...What are you?” Twilight asked cautiously. “Figures ponies would forget about us...but you remember me, do you not?” the strange Mare asked Luna. “Chrysalis...the Changeling Queen...what brings you to Ponyville? Last I heard you left Equestria.” Luna said, standing up. “And last time I saw you you were...” she continued. “Whole? My people and I are starving Luna...the barbaric tribes bordering Equestria don't have enough love to feed on...we recently returned, my hive is in the Everfree.” Chrysalis said. “You haven't been feeding on the ponies here have you?” Luna asked. “no...not yet...and my people are starving for it...I remembered the promise I made to your sister...but I am afraid if I do not break it the Changelings will be gone forever.” the Changeling Queen said, almost sadly. “Why are you here then, and not talking to Celestia?” Luna asked. “This town...it is so full of love...it literally radiates from the ponies here...that little bit is what is keeping us alive. Once you arrived we saw the Love you are now part of...if you can do it then we can...I ask of you to teach us how to love for ourselves so we don't need to feed!” Chrysalis explained, nearly begging at the end. Luna had no idea what to say. “Everything is going to have to be explained to me...but Love isn't something that can be taught...it just...happens...it's really just a deeper form of friendship...right?” Twilight answered, surprising them both. “Who is this?” Chrysalis asked. “Twilight Sparkle, my sister's student and my partner.” Luna replied. “Well Twilight Sparkle...what is this...'Friendship'?” Chrysalis asked. “You don't...?...it's like...an emotion...but not an emotion...it's just there...like a bond you have with another...” Twilight attempted to explain. “Twilight, the Changelings are a slightly more independent form of a hive mind...almost like bees or ants- excuse the metaphor- it will take a lot of work for them to even understand what independence is...let alone emotion and friendship.” Luna explained. “Wait! I have an Idea! She could come with us to see Celestia and she could read my friendship reports so she can understand it!” Twilight exclaimed. “Friendship...reports?” Crysalis asked. “I'll explain it later...but first, tell me about the Changelings...I've never heard of them before.” Twilight said. --- Twilight was having a very strange dream. She had offered Chrysalis the guest bed, but she had chosen to return to her colony. This dream was very, VERY strange. She knew she was dreaming instantly, because there was no dream. Not really. She was just standing there in nothing. White specs slowly began to appear from the blackness. It almost looked like they were stars. As she watched them appear one at a time she noticed that something large was coming into view. She turned around and gasped as she saw a planet. It was the planet she lived on...and she could see the huge mass of land dominating an entire hemisphere that was Equestria. She turned around once more and saw the sun. but she also saw the moon. And she realized they were coming closer to her. The two masses suddenly split a part off of them, seemingly from the core. The pieces flew towards each other, spiraling upwards in the vastness of space and suddenly aimed towards her. Her eyes widened and a gasp escaped from her lips as she noticed the details of the pieces of the moon and the sun. they had wings. They had horns. They had Equine bodies. They were Alicorns! The moon Alicorn was a Stallion, his coat and mane blending in almost perfectly with the surrounding space, his eyes solid white. The Sun Alicorn was a Mare, her coat a deep orange-red and her mane seemingly made of fire with the intensity of the sun. “Greetings, Thine name is Twilight Sparkle, correct?” the Stallion asked. Twilight didn't hesitate to nod. “Dost thou know us?” the Mare asked. Twilight half-shook her head, but something clicked in her brain. Two Alicorns that are the moon and the sun. she didn't know how she came to the conclusion, but it made so much sense. “You're Celestia and Luna's Mom and Dad?” she offered. The Alicorns grinned. “Aye, our Daughters. Thou hast a strong bond with them. Please, tell us.” the Stallion said. “Well...I'm Celestia's top student, and she's been a great mother figure to me and Luna both...and Luna...well...” Twilight started, but couldn't bring herself to finish. “We aren't blind to Thine world. We hast observed Nightmare Night and the events proceeding.” the Mare said with a smile as the two moved closer to Twilight. “Thou art wondering why Thou art here yes?” the Stallion asked. Twilight nodded. “Thou saved our Daughter from her Monsters. Thou saved Equestria from Eternal Disharmony. Thou art not only an Element of Harmony. Thou art THE element of Harmony.” the Mare explained. “The..element? The element of Magic?” Twilight asked. “No. The Element of Magic does not exist, though the magic yo believe it wields is real.” the Stallion explained, seemingly learning from Twilight's speech. “You are the pure manifestation of the element of Harmony. Your friends are scattered manifestations, they are the individual elements. Together you are unstoppable, but you alone are able to call forth the full power of the elements. Your friends are simply using your power and amplifying it.” the Mare explained. “Ok...but...but why are you telling me this now?” Twilight asked, her brain working in overload. “We waited to make sure. When faced with all of the challenges Ponyville threw at you, you always came out on top. You care for others more than yourself. The final decision was with the Changeling Queen. You didn't even know who she was or what she was, yet you still helped her and made probably the best choice you could have. And your ability to truly love others as with Luna” the Stallion answered. “What does that mean? Waited for what?” Twilight asked, not sure what was happening. “Alicorns aren't born. They earn their ascension. Celestia was born an earth pony. Luna a Pegasus. As their creation of the Equestria you know today earned them their Ascension...” the Mare said. Twilight's eyes widened. She got it now. They wanted her to be an Alicorn? Her question was answered when the two Alicorns charged her. She didn't even have the time to blink as they literally went through her. But they didn't come out the other side. She felt power. Power coursing through her hooves, her back, her horn...everywhere. --- “Twilight?!” Luna exclaimed when the Lavender Unicorn snuggled into her suddenly hunched over and shook as she floated into the air. Luna couldn't believe her eyes when two very familiar forms burst from her. “Mother? Father?” Luna asked. “Hello Luna. It has been far too long...” they said, hugging their daughter. “What's happening?” Luna asked as suddenly Twilight spread out and calmed in the air. Magic swirled around her horn, hooves and Back. “Ascension.” Luna's Mother answered. Her eyes widened as she saw Twilight grow larger. Her horn shot outwards nearly another foot. Her legs, and the rest of her body for that matter, gained tone and strength and elegance. Then wings shot out of her back with the sound of flapping feathers. Spike burst in the room at that point and passed out at the sight. Slowly, the magic began solidifying and began forming Regalia. Luna's was a midnight blue, Celestia' a shining gold. Twilight's regalia took the color of white silver. Her mane and tail gained length and volume, assuming the liquid-like flowing the Princesses had but did not otherwise change in appearance. “What...what is her duty? I have the night...Celestia the day...” Luna asked. “harmony.” her father answered. “Fitting.” Luna simply replied. “Tia is going to be jealous when she finds out I saw you when she did not.” Luna said, looking at her parents as Twilight slowly floated back down. “We will visit her, this Mare has enough magic to sustain us for weeks...but we will not be parasites longer than needed.” her mother said. “I see...Father...I never had my chance to thank you...if it weren't for your conversations in my dreams during my banishment...I would have lost my sanity.” Luna said, hugging the Stallion. “Of course my Daughter...we will go see your sister, then we will return...we will visit again in time.” he replied. They smiled at each other and were gone in a flash of borrowed magic. Luna looked out of the window and saw them playfully, but quickly, flying towards Canterlot. She then looked at her Marefriend. She frowned for a moment, Twilight was taller than her now. But she only giggled as she snuggled back up to the Lavender Mare, now she was going to find out what it was like to be held by one bigger than her. > C.5 Everyone knows now > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Ugh...what a strange dream...” Twilight mumbled. She cracked an eye open and looked at the clock. Nine in the morning. 'Ugh...better get up...' she thought as she shifted slightly. She felt somepony in her arms. She smiled, it was obviously Luna. The smile turned to a frown when she realized something. She was slightly larger than this pony. She quickly looked down and saw Luna snuggled into her chest. She froze. She stayed frozen for a full minute before it clicked, it was a dream. But the dream was real. Just to make sure she looked around and there were indeed wings. She nudged Luna, causing her to stir. “Morning Twilight...” Luna mumbled. “Uh...Morning...” Twilight replied. “By the way, now I know why you like to sleep like this.” Luna said, snuggling deeper into Twilight's chest, causing her to giggle. “Luna...Do you know anything about why I'm like this?” Twilight asked. “Yes...my parents allowed you to ascend. They left for Canterlot to speak to Celestia, the fact you are now awake tells me they have gone back to the moon and sun. they were using your magic.” Luna explained, getting serious. “They said I am the element of Harmony...they told me what that means...but...what does that mean for my life here? Our lives?” Twilight asked. “Neither Tia nor I would want to force you into anything, even if we could. I would follow you wherever you go.” Luna replied. “Thank you...I guess we get to talk to her today anyways...what am I going to tell spike in my friends?” Twilight asked. “Simple. You tell them the truth, well most of it. Mother and Father is somewhat of an Alicorn secret.” Luna said. “A-alright...if...if you're there then I can do that...Spike! Come up here please!” Twilight finished wit ha call. “He was there when it happened, but he will want an explanation.” Luna said. Twilight nodded. “Twilight...so...you are a...a Princess now.” Spike said. “I don't know about Princess...but I am an Alicorn I guess...I still don't know much...could you do me a favor and round up the girls?” Twilight asked. “Yeah...” Spike started. “You want breakfast first?” he continued. “No I'll take care of it, run along spike.” Luna said, getting up. Spike nodded and left. Twilight attempted to get up but found her body strangely weak. “You rest. I'll be back, your body needs time to adjust.” Luna said. Twilight sighed in resignation. Ten minutes later Luna came up with a fruit salad followed by her friends. “So it's true...” Applejack muttered. “That is so cool.” Rainbow Dash said. “Oh...wow...you're um...pretty.” Fluttershy mumbled. “Darling you look absolutely fabulous!” Rarity exclaimed. “OH MY GOSH we need a party for this!” Pinkie yelled. “Please calm down Everypony, she's rather weak right now. Here you go Love.” Luna said, levitating the salad over. Twilight smiled and accepted it. While she ate Luna answered the questions. “So how did this happen?” Applejack asked. “Magic has it's ways...I wish I could tell you the full truth, but it is not for me to tell. But I can say that Twilight met a very fine set of requirements.” Luna answered. “How do you know that?” Rarity asked. “Because I was here to experience it.” Luna replied. “When did it happen?” Dash asked. “Last night. I'd say around one in the morning.” Luna answered. “She's normally asleep by then...” Pinkie commented. “Yeah, were you two sleeping together?” Dash asked. “Of course we w-” Luna started. “What do you mean 'of course'?” Rarity asked. “Oh dear...I forgot, we had only told Fluttershy.” Luna said with a sigh. They all looked at Fluttershy, who was now about the size of a small rabbit. “Girls calm down, Luna and I are together...you didn't hear her call me 'love' when she gave me the food?” Twilight said, having finished. “She did? You are?” Dash asked, confused. “Whoa, canter on backwards a moment...how long ago did this happen?” Applejack asked. “Morning after the party.” Twilight replied. “Wait...so what...you two got drunk and did something or what?” Dash asked, still confused. “No Dashie! I didn't notice it then but now that I think back to it I noticed they were really close...OH I KNOW! Princess Luna likes Twilight because of everything she did for her and Twilight just so happens to return the feeling!” Pinkie exclaimed. “...wow Pinkie...Ah reckon that's the smartest thin you've ever come up with...” Applejack said, surprised at the fact something pinkie said making perfect sense. “I guess you can say that. But anyways girls, we're all invited to Canterlot to spend the day with Celestia. We can talk more about everything then I guess...” Twilight said as she got to her feet. She stumbled a bit but quickly got the hang of her new height. “Hey you're taller now...” Dash said. “Yeah...I'm going to have to get used to this.” Twilight muttered as she awkwardly tried to fold her wings. “Alright Twi, when we get back from Canterlot, or even IN Canterlot, I'm gonna teach you how to be a pegasus.” Dash said. “Sure.” Twilight replied wit ha giggle. “Oh now I'm going to have to get all of your new measurements and modify everything I made for you to fit now...oh but that's the fun in it!” Rarity exclaimed. “Hang on wait! If you're an Alicorn now...what's like your special duty thingie?” Pinkie asked. “I don't really know yet...it might have something to do with me being the Element of Magic...we can find out from Celestia.” Twilight answered. “Oh, Ah almost forgot. Ah caught some weird creatures pokin' around the farm this mornin'...when Ah yelled at 'em fer takin' mah apples they apologized an' paid...any idea what they were?” Applejack asked. “Those would be Changelings...Ponyville recently got a rather interesting sort of Neighbor...their Queen is going to accompany us to speak to Celestia as well.” “Well shoot, seems like everythin's gotta wait 'till we go to Canterlot.” Applejack huffed. “Well then let's get going!” Pinkie exclaimed. “I don't trust myself to Teleport us all...any way for us to get a Chariot?” Twilight asked. Her question was answered by spike coughing up a green flame, a letter from Celestia hidden in it's hot core. “Not gonna lie...that scared the buck outta me...” Spike said. “Spike!” Twilight exclaimed. “Sorry sorry!” Spike apologized. “...Anyways...let's see what it says. 'Dear Twilight and Luna I trust you are awake right now and have assembled your friends. I happen to know of the Changeling Queen and that she will be joining us here and is on her way already. A Chariot will arrive shortly to pick you all up. I hope I am able to answer any questions any of you may have. As for Twilight's Ascension, Luna and I will discuss this in private. Princess Celestia' Oh good. Well, that was conveniently timed.” Twilight read. “How did she know about all of this stuff?” Dash asked. “She has her ways. I give the chariot ten minutes. Are there any more questions that I can answer?” Luna asked. The others gained looks of deep thought as they wracked their brains for any questions that had answers Luna could give. > C.6 Origins of the Alicorn > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- (A/N Finally i got around to writing this one. i sat down for an hour and a half and pumped this out finally. this chapter was thought up completely on the spot, and i must say I am proud of it. this chapter probably defines exactly what Lore is. this story is now technically complete, the end is there for a reason. you didn't miss anything though don't worry, since this story was focusing on Twilight and Luna mostly there are a series of minor-major storylines involved. the ending will be explained- as well as the deal with the changelings- in the first of these sidestories. I am going to let all of you decide what will be done as side stories. there will in fact be an epilogue after the Changeling sidestory so look forward to that. Until Then, farewell my friends. -Dark) “I really wish those guards would have dropped us off in a less public area of the palace...” Twilight muttered when the chariot landed in the middle of a not quite packed, but busy, courtyard. Everypony was staring at them. Or, more specifically, her. “Before you even think of questions we have no answers yet. We will publicly address anything when we know what's happening.” Luna announced and quickly whisked the group into the palace before the crowd had a chance to react. As they entered the throne room they found Celestia speaking to Chrysalis. “Good. You're here. Chrysalis, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave for now. We will speak again soon.” Celestia said. “Of course, I will do what you suggested. Thank you.” the Changeling Queen replied and left. “What did you suggest?” Luna asked. “That she begins reading friendship reports to get started with, don't worry Twilight I have the embarrassing ones locked away. My, you are a very beautiful Alicorn.” Celestia said with a smile. “um...Thanks?...I really want to know exactly what is going on...” Twilight said. “It is exactly as it seems. There is something...well, many things, that need to be explained...but I don't understand half of it.” Celestia said. “But we do.” a familiar regal voice said as the room morphed to look like space. The six that hadn't experienced this before freaked out for a moment. “It is good to see you again Twilight Sparkle. I am afraid we never revealed our names. I am Blazing Light.” Celestia's Mother said. “And I Calm Night.” the father said. “Our time is limited but not quite so short, this will take a long time to explain. We must ask to keep all questions unless they are very important.” Light continued. Shocked by the sudden appearance, the group nodded. “Good. Back in our Reign, there was no moon and the sun was dull and dying. the planet was just starting out, but the galaxy was old. Back then there was no atmosphere and Alicorns, while small in numbers, were the only living things. Without the atmosphere the planet was at risk. Anything floating around in space would constantly impact the planet, often disrupting our lives quite violently.” Light began explaining. They were all startled and surprised as the universe around them began to change with the tale, illustrating the events as if they were there to see them. “I focused all of my power into stopping these rocks before they harmed the planet. I could not bring them to the planet for fear of causing more damage with my at the time low amounts of power and I could not cast them out to damage another planet. So over the course of that particular duty I amassed them at a safe distance. Still within the gravitational pull, yet not far enough to risk impacting again. Back then, the moon was what could be considered a small asteroid belt.” Night explained. “What about the atmosphere?” Spike asked, deeming that question as an important one. It was. “Good question, but that comes later in this tale. Now, our planet was cold and dull. We were the only life and we didn't like it. I saw the sun every day. I noticed how it faintly gave off light and the slightest warmth. My power went into reviving it.” Light answered. “There were more of us with different focuses on their time and power. When the warmth and light came, the two of us created day and night. With it came an idea from a friend. She was known as Flora. She wanted what are now plants. This was impossible though, for they kept dieing without an atmosphere. Flora's partner, Atmosphere- in which it was named from- sought to make his lover's focus possible. He took the oxygen and all of the other elements needed and created a stable atmosphere.” Night continued. “Fauna, Flora's sister, saw her sister's life and wanted to create her own. But she wanted life she could interact with. She created small critters, but they soon died out of thirst- as did her sister's plants. Seeing this, Aqua- a stallion- quenched their thirst with a small pond of clean water.” Light explained. “A small pond for the entire planet?” Dash asked. “I apologize, no. only a small portion, about the size as this city, was under the influence of our tampering. At least the locally-based parts.” Light answered. “Harmony, a Mare that was a very close friend of ours, was not satisfied with the animals. She wanted something to speak to. She tried to create talking plants and talking animals. This frustrated her when it did not work. She realized that they were not originally created to speak, so she created a new race of creatures in her image. Our little spot became a small settlement of earth ponies.” Night continued. “The Earth ponies became unhappy. They loved their rulers, but grew jealous of their magic and wings. And so the Pony race was split into the three races of those content to be on the ground, those who wanted nothing more to take to the skies and finally, those who wished to study under us in the ways of magic. Earth Pony, Pegasi and Unicorns were born.” Light went on. “Our little settlement soon became cramped. Our powers slowly grew over time. The asteroid belt that was later the moon now nearly formed a shell around the planet. The sun now glowed nearly as bright as it normally did. There were layers to the atmosphere. Lakes had joined our small pond. Trees and fruits joined mammals and insects and reptiles as the world flourished.” Night picked up. “Obviously the settlement needed to expand. We all chipped in. soon the entire 'continent' was inhabited. Fauna grew jealous of Harmony's talking ponies, but collaborated with her. They created other sentient races, starting with the dragons. Then came griffins and other intelligent species.” Night continued. “I'm sorry, while I am reveling in the most history I've ever seen, how is this relevant?” Twilight asked, clearly angry at herself for stopped such an amazing tale. “It is now your history as well as ours. It is teaching you about the powers of Alicorns yes?” Night said. Twilight nodded and waited happily for them to continue. “Earth ponies took charge with assisting Flora and Fauna, the Pegasi assisted Atmosphere and Aqua to create weather- in which the right to oversee was given to said Pegasi- while the Unicorns assisted the rest of us.” Light started. “An Alicorn is not truly immortal. Their magic sustains their life almost indefinitely. While they do not have a life span they can lose their lives to illness and injury just like any other creature...their magic just counters the damage in most occasions.” she continued. “Harmony was the first to go. She grew guilty of her creations' mortality and decided to join them. She lived the rest of her life as a winged unicorn, an Alicorn with no overly important power and only above average magical ability, and died three hundred years after her decision. She never regretted it. You would recognize her power, when the life left her body it condensed and became what you know as the elements of harmony.” Night explained. “Something amazing happened then. When she died, her creation blossomed. They expanded, flourished, rejoiced, grieved. They gained complete sentience.” Light began. “Flora never really died, but gave her life. When the life left her body the plants of the planet grew. They sprouted new fruits and flowers and completely different plants. What was once great land masses spotted with green became forest upon forest. Fauna went at the same time for the same reason. What was once small critters and insects became large beasts and creatures.” she continued. “Atmosphere and Aqua were devastated by the drop in our numbers and chose to join them...the atmosphere strengthened, obliterating anything meaning harm to the planet before it reached it's surface. Oceans formed. Sea creatures were now more than tiny little critters. Our numbers continued to shorten, until it was just us two...we would lead our little ponies into indefinite times of peace as long as we could...but then a monster, born from the twisting of our own sadness, was created...Disharmony, or Discord as you know him.” Night went on. “We had just had you then...” Light started, looking at Celestia and Luna. “and we wanted you safe...we gave our lives to stop this creature of disharmony...with the sun strengthened I was able to create the palace of the pony sisters and surround it in a protective forest.” she continued. “the shell around the earth was no longer needed...with the power I gave the moon, it formed what it is now...and with the last of my life I halted Discord as best I could by moving the oceans to disrupt him.” Night picked up. “Luna and Celestia were left in the protected palace...the forest not only protected them, but kept them in until they were ready. They took control of the moon and sun and with their power unlocked the elements of harmony which, by now, had been strengthened by the spirits of the Alicorns. They used it to defeat Discord and bring Equestria to peace again. The rest you know as history.” Light finished. “So...I've inherited the spirit and power of Harmony?” Twilight asked. “No...you've inherited the power and spirit of us all. The world doesn't need you to survive any longer...instead Harmony needs the world. It takes form in you my Child.” Night answered. “W-what?” Twilight asked. The others were silent. “I am afraid our power is slipping. We will not be able to speak to any of you like this or some time...but we will be watching over all. Be safe.” Light said as they began to fade out of existence. Shocked by such a tale, such a revelation and by the suddenness of the departure, the group was stunned to silence. “W-wait...if...if yuh gotta take on all them r-responsibilities...then...then what about us?” Applejack asked. “Y-yeah! I don't care w-what they said...you're n-not leaving us!” Dash said, obviously trying- and failing- to stop the tears beginning to run down her face. Pinkie was less successful. “T-Twilight you can't leave us! You can't!” she exclaimed, clamping onto the much taller Mare as the room returned to it's original state. “P-p-pl-lease d-don't l-leave u-us...” Fluttershy squeaked. “Darling...you...you just can't...” Rarity sniffed. “Twilight...we...I don't want to leave...” Spike sobbed. Twilight, tears now flowing down her face like mad, was surprised by a soft nuzzle. “It is your Choice Twilight...they said the world doesn't need your power to survive...” Luna's voice said softly into her ear. “Your power wants you to live your life, to do what it cannot by itself.” Celestia said, nuzzling her as well. “No matte what you choose, I will follow.” Luna whispered into her ear. “If...if it really is my choice...then I'm not g-going anywhere!” Twilight exclaimed through her tears and launched herself at the others in a huge group hug. “I've never had much of a problem handling the royal duties alone. It was raising the moon that was difficult. You can do that from anywhere though, can't you?” Celestia said to Luna, giving her a sideways look and a grin. “Oh thank you Tia!” Luna said, hugging her sister quickly and joining her friends. “Oh Luna...” Celestia said to herself with a giggle. “Well I am afraid that was much longer than you all thought...it is nearly midnight and I am quite tired...I had rooms prepared for you, any guard will show you to them.” she continued. The announcement of what was happening would have to wait a day or two. --- Celestia returned to her room to find a scene that brought a grin to her face. Chrysalis was sleeping face down on her desk with letters scattered all over the place. She giggled as she used her magic to clean the area up. She then lifted the sleeping queen with her magic and placed her gently on the bed. The blue-haired Mare grumbled in her sleep and rolled over a bit. This earned another giggle from the Celestial Goddess. “It's been so very long Chrysalis...so long...” Celestia said to herself. “It has...but that doesn't matter now...come and sleep Love...” Chrysalis replied without opening her eyes. “Must you even ask?” Celestia said, earning a grin on the Mare's face as she joined her. “Good night Love...” Chrysalis mumbled. “And you, Love.” Celestia replied. > Epilogue- Alicorns of Old > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- (A/N if there's anything you want explained in a sidestory tell me and I'll consider it. I just pumped this out in an hour and I like it. this is the official end to the main story, enjoy. off topic sorta- http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/2+Falken/3CmQcr?src=5 this song was on loop the entire writing of this chapter) “What is it Love?” Luna asked. Twilight had been staring out of the window and into Ponyville again. They had expanded the Library, it now sported five floors instead of two. “All of these spirits...these spirits of creation...they're...calm. I thought they would at least want to be needed by the world again. It's weird. I sometimes have dreams where I talk to them. Every time I ask them about it. I get the same answer every time.” Twilight explained. “What is that?” Luna asked, lying down next to the Lavender Alicorn on the bed. “I ask them why they don't seem to want to be needed...they answer with, 'Because we no longer need to want it'...it's confusing...but I think I've decoded what it means.” Twilight replied. Luna was starting to get worried. Twilight seemed so mellow and calm. Her speech seemed tired, yet not tired. Almost lazy. “it's because they've 'moved on' so to speak. That part of their existence is over. Now they can enjoy and revel in it- their creations- and through me be a part of it again.” Twilight explained. “I see...is this ';through me' part hurting you though? You seem exhausted more often than not right now...is there something wrong?” Luna asked, giving her love a worried face. “Not hurting me...but having seven different spirits in your mind is rather exhausting.” Twilight said with a chuckle. “I have been thinking on that...the old Alicorns...they greatly resemble your friends, do they not? The other elements?” Luna asked. Twilight thought about it a moment. The first thing that came to her mind was Fluttershy. Fauna, the two would probably have been exact copies. The next was Flora, that would be Applejack. Atmosphere, even though he was Male, was obviously Dash. Aqua, he created water to help the others and their creations, that was like Rarity...generous as ever. Harmony and Pinkie Pie...well, they didn't call her the 'life' of the party for no reason. “Now that I think of it, you're perfectly right. I'll talk to them when I can, for now I need a power nap.” Twilight said. “How about we all go out on one of those Picnics you always told me about later this evening?” Luna suggested. “That's actually a great Idea.” Twilight replied sleepily. “I'll go set everything up then. Nap well.” Luna said. Twilight grunted in response. --- “I don't see why you didn't just leave that to me Sis.” Spike said as he, Luna and Twilight arrived early on the top of a hill overlooking Ponyville for the picnic. Spike had been calling Twilight 'Sis' for a while now, but ever since her relationship with Luna had been announced he included his new step-sister in the nickname. “Because I enjoy a nice walk around town every now and then.” Luna replied. “True enough. There's Sapphire now with Dash and AJ.” Spike said, noticing the two ponies and slightly smaller bright blue Dragon coming. “Howdy.” Applejack said upon her arrival. “We haven't done one of these in ages, I missed your cooking Spike.” Dash said, fist bumping the purple dragon. Well, hoof bumping in her case. “I didn't know you cooked for anypony but Twi and Luna.” Sapphire said with a grin before kissing the purple dragon. “Normally I don't, but even though they're good they can never cook as well as I can. And only the best for our friends.” Spike said. “Oh look, Flutters and Night brought Monty. I haven't seen that ball of fur since he went back into the Everfree last week.” Dash said. They all looked and saw the two Pegasi flying slowly over to them with the friendly Manticore in tow. “I hope you guys don't mind.” Night pleaded when they arrived. “Of course not.” Twilight said. “Thank you Twilight. so...um...we're just waiting for Rarity and Pinkie right?” Fluttershy asked. “Nope!” Pinkie said, popping out of the tree. “Darling are you ever going to tell me how you do that?” Rarity asked, coming from the other side of the clearing. The group laughed at the antics and soon were chatting about really anything. When the sun began falling and Luna raised the moon there was soon a blue/green fire going. “So...there's a reason other than enjoying the company of friends I asked you all to come here.” Twilight said when they had all settled down. “Does it have sumthin' tuh do with why yuh've been so tired?” Applejack asked. “Actually yes, how'd you figure that out?” Twilight asked. Applejack shrugged. They were all friends, of course they would notice her lack of energy. “Right...well...the old Alicorns...Aqua, Harmony, Flora, Fauna and Atmosphere, Light and Night. Their spirits reside within me, you know this. But having seven entities in me is sapping my energy...I need to reduce it somehow but I can't bring myself to banish them back to wherever they were before me...it would be cruel and they love it here.” Twilight started. “Well then you just gotta find someplace else to put them right?” Dash asked. “Basically yes...but...they would need to be living ponies in which through their 'hosts' the spirit could enjoy it's shared life. They would have to be the most trustworthy of ponies.” Twilight replied. “And you want us to do it?” Pinkie asked. “Well yes...I hadn't thought of it until Luna brought something to my attention.” Twilight started and explained the connections. “Um...what would happen to us?” Fluttershy asked. “I asked them about it during my nap not too long ago...you wouldn't gain immortality or anything, maybe an extra decade or so. You'd always have somepony to talk to and help you out as well. Beyond that though they didn't know either.” Twilight said. “Well of course I'd do it. Being practically a god of weather would be awesome! Plus I'd do anything for you Twi, we're all like best friends and you'd do the same.” Dash said. The others gave similar agreements, Fluttershy's a bit less loud but equally determined. “Thank you so much girls. I really don't know how to do it...but-” Twilight started. She was cut off as she began to glow and a series of different covered auras manifested around her. They quickly took shape as large Alicorns, though slightly transparent. It was the five Alicorns that were getting new 'hosts'. “Hello Miss Rainbow Dash. I am Atmosphere.” one of the Stallions said. If Dash was a Stallion, her coat was slightly gray and her mane and tail were much longer they would have matched. Minus the height and horn of course. Dash's eyes widened at the sight. “I am Flora.” the Mare next to him said. She had a green coat and her mane and tail resembled branches and leaves. Applejack couldn't help but look to see if there were apples growing in them. “and I Fauna.” another Mare said with a slight shake. The Mare looked identical to Fluttershy, minus the horn. Night and Fluttershy both looked at her, and then Fluttershy, and then back again. “I am Aqua.” the final Stallion said. If Blueblood really was blue, a million times more polite and more regal looking instead of 'noble' than they would be twins. Rarity couldn't help but swoon. “And I'm Harmony!” the Final mare exclaimed. Her mane and coat were pink like Pinkie's, but the shade was never stable for more than three seconds. It shifted almost as if waves of the ocean would with occasional firework-like explosions of color. Pinkie's eyes widened up as her face registered pure joy and amusement. As one, the group all turned to Twilight and bowed low to the ground. “Why are you bowing to me?” Twilight asked, nervously pawing at the ground. “Because of you, we are able to enjoy life again. You suffered for our happiness, and now you are allowing us the same thing, but with the addition of friendships that will last forever!” harmony exclaimed. “And this time you don't have to suffer at all.” Fauna said. “Unless you miss talking to us of course, but you could just talk to us in your dreams.” Atmosphere said. “Well I hope you all have fun. We'll always be here if you need us to take them off your hooves” Night's voice came, it was heard by them all. “While we have the power to speak to you while you are awake and before we get Twilight Dear, you are going to have to introduce us to your parents at one point.” Light's voice came, earning a laugh by all but Luna and Twilight. That would be one VERY awkward evening. “Our projections are fading. You all ready?” Aqua asked the group. They all nodded and braced themselves. The five projections turned back into the auras and were absorbed into their corresponding bodies. The group all changes somewhat. Fluttershy and Dash's wings fanned out nearly twice as long as they had been before, they gained a foot or two in height and their manes and tails became a bit more smooth and silky. Applejack and Pinkie gained a bit more height while their manes and tails took a similar look, but their muscles became even more toned and powerful. Rarity's horn lengthened a few inches as similar changes manifested in her. Their cutie marks changed a bit as well, they now had a single small star somewhere on the magical images. “Well shoot...that's one thin Ah need to get used to...” Applejack said, stumbling over with her new height. “Now I can reach the top shelf in the bakery without even having to double bounce!” Pinkie exclaimed. They all laughed, and then simultaneously yawned. “Well, I fear we must all retire to sleep. We will definitely be seeing you all tomorrow.” Luna said. “Oh yeah, you bet.” Dash said, shakily taking to the air but quickly getting used to her new wingspan and taking wing to her cloud house. “See you tomorrow.” Fluttershy said as she and night turned around. “Ah just might work fer a bit to get ridda this extra energy.” Applejack said to herself as she left as well. “I need to take a super pinkie pie power nap...” Pinkie said, yawning as she bounced away. “I have a million ideas on designs this new form would fit with oh this will be so fun!” Rarity squealed as she looked her new form over as she walked. “hey we're gonna go flying for a bit, mind if I stay at her place tonight?” Spike asked. “Sure spike, I'm your sister not your mother.” Twilight said. “Eh you're both. Cya tomorrow.” Spike said as he and Sapphire took off. “Well, that was exciting. It is a shame Tia couldn't see it.” Luna said. “Oh don't worry, I had a memory spell running. I'll implant it into my next friendship report she'll obviously be getting after this.” Twilight said. “Always thinking ahead.” Luna commented with a smile as they walked back to the Library. > ChrysLestia sidestory > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “I'm sorry, but I am afraid this meeting will have to be rescheduled...I had expected it to be over by now.” Celestia said to the noblepony she was speaking to as Chrysalis entered her throne room. “I understand, no worries Princess. Everything important is said and done.” he said, bowing and leaving. “I apologize, I did not mean to interrupt your duties...” Chrysalis said, looking after the Stallion. “What's done is done. You are not well...last I saw you, you were so happy and lively...and...well...whole.” Celestia said. “That is the reason I am here...We have been trying to find less...parasitic...ways to feed. It is so bad now though...I came seconds from breaking our promise...but then I saw your sister and her partner...I need your help.” Chrysalis explained. “Help with what?” Celestia asked. “With teaching my people and I how to love for ourselves again.” Chrysalis replied. Celestia smiled. “Like old times?” Celestia asked. “Hopefully.” Chrysalis replied. They both thought back to said old times. “last time we met...that was a few years before the Banishment, correct?” Celestia asked --- “Changelings and Ponies all living together in Harmony...it's beautiful.” a much younger Chrysalis said as she and a younger Celestia looked over old Canterlot. Celestia was a bit smaller and her mane and tail were still the pink of her youth. Chrysalis was a bit shorter, but bigger all around. She wasn't just skin and bone and her body bore no holes. Her wings even resembled something closer to a butterfly than a house fly and her mane and tail were fuller. “Hn...” Celestia mumbled in response. “What's the matter Love?” Chrysalis asked, leaning into the Alicorn. “It's Luna...she's been more withdrawn lately...sometimes I see a cold look hidden behind the gaze of the kind Princess of the night...” Celestia said softly. “I have noticed this...do you have an idea what could be causing it?” Chrysalis asked. “No...I've only began to notice it these past few days...” Celestia sighed and leaned into the Changeling Queen. “Maybe it's because she doesn't have a wonderful Pony like you to cheer her up.” she mused with a giggle. Chrysalis responded by quickly pulling her into an embrace and a kiss. Celestia returned it happily. “How did I come by such a perfect Mare?” Chrysalis mused. “Oh come now...don't tell me you forgot already?” Chrysalis asked half-joking. “Oh I totally forgot how we met. It can't be that I just love hearing it.” Celestia joked. “Well I remember it perfectly. Our two peoples were less than friendly due to our way of sustaining life...you helped us love for ourselves...I was the first...” Chrysalis off-handedly explained. “and I was the Lucky mare to share it with you.” Celestia finished. “Bingo.” Chrysalis replied, starting another kiss. --- “What happened?” Celestia asked sadly. “After the Banishment you were so withdrawn...an incident involving my people feeding on yours during your cold state brought a rift between us...I never wanted to risk my people doing such a thing again so we promised to not feed on ponies' love ever again...but the damage was done and our rift too great. I forgot how to love for myself...and I grew cold...the only thing keeping me sane was the promise...my people forgot as well as new generations came and went...I had forgotten the promise...that's why we moved to the Everfree...but seeing Luna and Twilight made me remember everything...” Chrysalis explained, slowly stepping towards the seated Princess. Celestia's expression turned from sadness to a warm smile as she met Chrysalis halfway. Celestia's wings fanned out suddenly, earning a giggle from Chrysalis. The Alicorn quickly brought them under control, but held a red face. “Sorry...I missed you...” Celestia said sheepishly. They were startled by the door opening, it was Celestia's runner. Luckily she wasn't looking at them. “Princess, the elements of harmony are on their way.” she called into the room and closed the door quickly. “Oh, well...I guess that's our que to discuss something more official.” Celestia said with a chuckle. > SaphSpike Sidestory > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- (A/N a bit shorter than I intended but I only wanted to really set the foundation for the ship instead of the actual ship. enjoy!) “Whoa what's that?” Spike asked as he and Twilight were watching Luna raise the moon from the balcony of the library. They had noticed something approaching from the opposite side of the town from canterlot. “I dunno...” Twilight said. Luna flew back to the Balcony then with a confused face. “My eyesight may be going or something...but it looks like there's a young Dragon flying over here.” Luna said. “Really?” Spike asked. “Yes, it appears to be about your age spike...just finished learning to use it's wings from the looks...why don't you go help it out?” Luna suggested. “Sure.” Spike replied and took to the air. The pony-sized dragon had no trouble in his flight, having been taught by the fastest flier in Equestria. By the time Spike met the other Dragon he could tell three things. First, it was female. Second, her scales were like Sapphires and third, she was absolutely exhausted. “Hey, come on you need a rest.” Spike said, startling her by flying under her and supporting practically all of her weight. This wasn't a problem, moving bookcases and helping around sweet apple acres every now and then makes you pretty strong. “W-what?...uh...thank...you...” she replied, confused, between pants. “No problem...come on, that big tree there.” Spike said, helping her descend. --- the Dragon had napped for three hours and had a good long drink. Now she was nervously pawing at the ground next to spike as Twilight and Luna looked over her. “Please don't be nervous, it's not like you're doing anything wrong.” Twilight assured her. “What is your name?” Luna asked. “Sapphire...it's just that...um...I never expected there to be two Princesses in Ponyville...” she replied. “Well Sapphire, why are you here?” Twilight asked. “Well...I had heard there was a town somewhere that wasn't really scared of dragons because one was living there...I couldn't stand living with the Clans...so I left about a week ago...I went from town to town, trying to ask about the town without causing trouble...Luckily they didn't over react since I'm still young...but uh...I finally found a town that knew Ponyville.” Sapphire explained. “Which town?” Spike asked. “Cloudsdale. They gave me a drink and a place to sleep for the night too...I guess all air creatures are friendly to each other sometimes...” Sapphire replied. “They do have a lot of respect for the flying races. Well now that you're here I don't think sending you away would be best. The Library is big enough to house you with spike though, do you know any magic?” Twilight asked. “A little, but not much...why?” Sapphire asked. “Well that can be a viable excuse for the citizens of Ponyville then. A dragon here to study magic. I don't think they'd accept 'I just wanted to live here' Twilight explained with a giggle. “Oh...I guess you're right...so...would you be the one teaching me?” Sapphire asked. “the really advanced stuff later, though for most of it Spike will teach you since I can't really use fire breath to do my magic.” Twilight replied. “But you do pick up a few pony magic tricks when you live with the most powerful Unicorn in equestria your entire life.” Spike continued, snapping his fingers and making a book levitate over to him. He plucked it out of the air and handed it to her. 'Basic Draconic Magic'. Written by Spike Sparkle...is that you?” Sapphire read. “Yep. Twi helped me a lot though.” Spike replied. “Well it is getting very late, you two should sleep. Luna and I will be back in a few hours.” Twilight said. “But shouldn't you sleep too?” Sapphire asked, but they had already left. “It's only Eleven. Luna is the princess of the Night and Twilight helps her out a lot. Plus they don't get much alone time during the day.” Spike said with a yawn. “Come on, we recently expanded so there's a couple spare rooms you can choose from.” he continued, showing her to a hallway. “Hey...Spike?” Sapphire asked shyly. “Yeah?” Spike replied. “Um...there was...another reason I came...” Sapphire started. Spike gave her a look that said 'go on'. “Well...um...this town...the Dragon Living there...the other Dragons always said he was a freak for living with ponies...but...um...after everything he did with the elements of harmony and stuff you're kind of like...I don't know...not a hero...a legend maybe?” She continued. “A legend? Nah, I wasn't even a part of most of that stuff. Back in those days the only thing I did was write and send letters and cook.” Spike said with a laugh. “Oh...well...still...I came because I wanted to meet you...and I'm glad I did...I'll take this one I guess.” she said, choosing a room and quickly entering. But not before kissing the purple dragon on the cheek. He stood there frozen for a full minute before he snapped out of it. 'Whoa...that was better than when Rarity used to do it...' Spike thought as he put a claw to his cheek and went to his own room.
