> The Legend of Twilight: Ocarina of Time > by sonicdash123 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prologue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Charming Thunder looked around as he slowly walked as he played a game of hide and seek with Nyx. He checked behind curtains, in the closet, and under the bed. He then heard a giggling sound coming from somewhere in the room. He then turned to see hooves behind a curtain he hasn't checked and slowly walked up to it. "Let's see," Charming Thunder said. "What is behind curtain number one." He then used his magic to open it and there was Nyx hiding and she laughed. "Gottcha," He then tickled her on her belly. "Note to self; never giggle while playing," Nyx said. She then yawned as she walked to bed with Charming Thunder. "Dad, can you read me a story?" "Of course. I'll be right back to get a book from the library." "Okay." Charming Thunder left Nyx's bedroom and headed to the library. --------------------- In the library, Twilight was organizing the books by categories with her magic and putting them on the shelf related to the category. She then noticed Charming Thunder enter the room and she walked up to him with a smile on her face. "Hey, Charming," Twilight said. "Hey, Twilight," Charming Thunder replied. "I'm just hear to look for a book for Nyx." "I think I know just the kind she would like." Twilight then levitates a book titled 'Ocarina of Time' and gives it to Charming Thunder. "The first time I read this when I was a filly, I always imagined myself in the story. I'm sure Nyx would do the same thing." "Thanks, honey. You are always the best when it comes to books." Twilight blushes and nudges Charming Thunder. She then giggled and kissed him on the lips. "Charming, you always make me blush. That is what I like about you." "Thanks, love." Charming Thunder then walked out of the library to head back to Nyx so he can tell her a story. --------------------- Charming Thunder sat next to the bed where Nyx got tucked in and he cleared his throat as he opened the book with his magic. "Let's begin," he said as he was about to read the first page. "In the vast, deep forest of Hyrule, long has he served as a guardian spirit. I am known as the Deku Tree. The children of the forest, the Kokiri, live here with me. Each Kokiri has his or her own guardian fairy. However, there is one colt who does not have a fairy..." Nyx began to picture the story as her father continued to read. > The Kokiri Forest > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A red unicorn colt slept in his bed inside his tree house as he was about to have a nightmare. He had no cutie mark and had a blonde mane and tail. He tossed and turned as he moaned during his slumber. --------------------- A rainstorm emitted in front of a castle as the drawbridge lowered in front of the young colt. The bridge allowed a dark blue alicorn with a flowing mane and tail carrying a alicorn child as she ran past the unicorn and galloped out of sight. The colt then turned to see a red centaur after loosing them and looks at the colt and directs his palm towards him. --------------------- In the morning, the sun shone as the Deku Tree called forth a fairy without a child. "Cadence....Cadence, where art thou?" the tree called. "Come hither." The tiny pink fairy flew up to the tree so she can be seen. "What is it?" Cadence asked worried. "Is something wrong?" "Oh, Cadence the Fairy. Listen to my words. The words of the Deku Tree. Do you sense it?" "I don't understand. Sense what?" "The climate of evil descending upon this realm. Malevolent forces even now are mustering to attack our land of Hyrule. For so long, the Kokiri Forest, the source of life, has stood as a barrier, deterring outsiders and maintaining the order of the world. But...before this tremendous evil power, even my power is as nothing." "What are we going to do then?" "It seems the time has come for the colt without a fairy to begin his journey. The youth whose destiny it is to lead Hyrule to the path of justice and truth. Cadence, go now!! Find our young friend and guide him to me. I do not have much time left. Fly, Cadence, fly! The fate of the forest, nay, the world, depends on thee." Cadence leaves without a word and flies away from the tree to the area of the Kokiri Forest. She then flies towards the tree house and accidentally a fence along the way. She then entered the tree house to see the young colt asleep in his bed. "Hello, Charming! Wake up! The Great Deku Tree wants to talk to you! Charming Thunder, get up!" Charming Thunder only mumbled in his sleep and turned his body away. Cadence then flew around which made noises every time she did. "Hey! C'mon! Can Hyrule's destiny really depend on such a lazy colt?" Charming Thunder then began to move and he yawned as he woke up and turns to see a fairy in front of him. Charming Thunder stretched his legs as he said, "Alright. Alright. Will you please stop making that sound. Wait--who are you?" "You finally woke up! I am Cadence the Fairy. The Great Deku Tree asked me to be your partner from now on. Nice to meet you! The Great Deku Tree has summoned you!" "It is nice to meet you too. I mean, its about time I got a fairy. Wait-- did you say that the Deku Tree summoned me?" "Yes. There is no time to explain. So let's get going, right now!" Charming Thunder nodded and gets off his bed and exited the tree house. As he exited the treehouse, he sees a filly approaching. She had a pale coat and a brilliant gamboge mane and tail. "Yahoo!" the filly shouted. "Hi, Charming!" "Hey, Carrot Top." Charming Thunder climbed down his tree house on the ladder and approached. "Look who came to my house today. "Wow! A fairy!! Finally, a fairy came to you, Charming. Wow! That's great news I'm so happy for you! Now you're a true Kokiri, Charming." Charming Thunder blushed and rubbed his head. "The Deku Tree summons me and I need to get to him right away." "Is that right? The Great Deku Tree has summoned you? It's quite an honor to talk to the Great Deku Tree! I'll wait for you here. Go see the Great Deku Tree!" Charming Thunder then dashed past Carrot Top as Cadence the Fairy followed. He made it to the pathway to the Deku Tree, but was stopped when a pink filly blocks his way. "Hey you!" the mare said. "Mr. No Fairy! What's your business with the Great Deku Tree? Without a fairy, you're not even a real colt." "Out of my way, Diamond Tiara. It is important that I see him. Besides, I do have a fairy." Cadence flew over him so Diamond Tiara can see her. "What?! You've got a fairy?! Say what? The Great Deku Tree actually summoned you? What?! Why would he summon you and not the great Diamond Tiara? This isn't funny. I don't believe it, but there is one problem. You aren't even fully equipped yet! How do you think you're going to help the Great Deku Tree without both a sword and shield ready?" "Well neither do you." Charming Thunder smiled as he made his point. "What? You're right. I don't have my equipment ready, but if you want you pass through here, you should at least equip a sword and a shield! Sheesh!" "The nerve of that filly," Cadence said as her and Charming Thunder walked away from Diamond Tiara. They then see Carrot Top again as she already knows whats going on. "Diamond Tiara won't let you go to see the Great Deku Tree?" Carrot asked. "That bully! I don't know why she's so mean to everyone." "She did say that in order to pass, I need to be equipped with a sword and shield," Charming Thunder explained. "Why is that, Carrot?" "What she said is true, though. The forest...strange things have been happening here lately. You need to be ready for anything. You'd better find a weapon! You can buy a shield at the shop, but there is only one sword hidden somewhere in the forest." "I think I know where the sword is, Charming," Cadence said. "There is a hole at the training grounds. Follow me." Charming Thunder followed Cadence until they arrived to the hole she was talking about. He crawled into the hole and when he got to the other side, he sees a treasure chest and he walks up to it then opens it. He then acquires the Kokiri sword and puts the sheath with the sword on his back. As he walked away, he heard a rumble sound and he stopped to turn to see a boulder rolling towards him. Charming Thunder ran for his life and slide under the hole he came from and took deep breaths. He then looked up at Cadence with an angry look. "What?" "Really?" Charming Thunder replied. "A boulder?" "At least we're safe, right?" "Now for the shield. I do have enough bits to buy one. It only costs forty bits for one." Charming Thunder and Cadence walked to the shop next to the pathway to the Deku Tree and enters the shop. He then walked up to the counter and asked the shop keeper for a shield. He pays for it then equips it to his back. He then exits the shop and returned to Diamond Tiara who is still guarding the path. "I am now fully equiped, Diamond. Now let me pass." "Oh, you have a Deku Shield," Diamond Tiara said. "And what's THAT?! Is that the Kokiri Sword?! DRAT!! Well, even with all that stuff, a wimp is still a wimp, huh? I will never accept you as one of us!" "Sticks and stones, Diamond. Sticks and stones." Diamond Tiara only growled at the response. "How did you get to be the favorite of the Great Deku Tree? Fine. You may pass." Diamond mumbled as she stood aside and Charming Thunder entered the path to the meadow. Deku Babas suddenly pop out of the ground and tried to attack him. Charming Thunder dodged and sliced its neck which made it collapse to the ground now dead. "I'm back, Deku Tree," Cadence announced as she flew over Charming Thunder. "Oh, Cadence," Deku Tree said relieved. "Thou hast returned. Welcome, Charming Thunder. Listen carefully to what I, the Deku Tree, am about to tell thee. Thy slumber these past moons must have been restless, and full of nightmares. As the servants of evil gain strength, a vile climate pervades the land and causes nightmares to those sensitive to it. Verily, thou hast felt it." "What does this have to do with me?" Charming Thunder asked. "The time has come to test thy courage. For that I have been cursed and I want you to break it with your wisdom and courage. Dost thou have courage enough to undertake this task?" "I will try my best, Deku Tree." The Deku Tree lowers the portion of its trunk that resembles a mouth which leads to a path that goes inside him. "Then enter, Charming. Cadence, go with him and aid him whenever he needs help. Good luck to you both." Charming Thunder then dashed into the Great Tree in a hurry along with Cadence. > Inside the Great Deku Tree > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Charming Thunder and Cadence the Fairy arrived in a huge room in front of where they entered and they looked around as they felt amazed. "Wow!" Charming Thunder said. "I never knew that the inside of the tree would be this big." "Focus, Charming," Cadence said. "This place will be crawling with monsters so watch out." Charming Thunder then noticed a huge web covering a hole leading to the bottom level. Charming Thunder tried to jump on it, but the web did not bother to break. "If only we were on the high ground to break this web." Charming Thunder looked up to see two other levels. "One level above us will not be enough, but the third level might work." He then climbed up a vine to the second level and walked up to another vine which is crawling with small skultullas. "Well that's something. These skultulas are in the path to the third level. Even if I climb up, they'll attack me for sure." "There's a door over there," Cadence said as she flew to the door she was referring to. Charming Thunder followed her into the room and came across a mad deku scrub. It fired at the unicorn, but he dodged the deku nut that was fired at him. When it fired again, Charming Thunder was quick enough to deflect it with the shield and hits it. The deku bounced out of its flower and cowered in fear. "Ow-ow-ow!" the deku scrub said in pain as Charming Thunder pointed his sword at it. "Forgive me, master! If I give you a clue, will you let me go?" "Be quick with your word before I change my mind," Charming Thunder said as he puts the sword away. "I hear that there is a Fairy Slingshot on the other side of that door beside me. Please let me go. I have told you all I know." "Go on then." Charming Thunder stepped aside and lets the deku scrub go. "Thank you, kind sir." Charming Thunder and Cadence went through the door and sees a platform and another platform with a slingshot on the pedestal. Charming Thunder jumped on the platform and the other. He picked up the slingshot and puts it away. He then turned to prepare his jump back, but the platform collapsed to the ground and shattered to pieces. "You're kidding me, right?" Charming Thunder looked around to see if there was another way and then sees something behind the vines. It was a ladder hanging there. He took out his slingshot and fired at it. The ladder then slid down to the ground as Charming Thunder jumped down to it and climbed up to exit this part of the dungeon. The duo then came back to the vine where the skultullas were still crawling on the vines. Charming Thunder took out the slingshot and fired at the two skultullas. They fell on the floor now lying dead as the route to the third floor is now open for him. Charming Thunder climbed up to the third floor and jumped off the vines to the wooden platform. The third floor had huge cobwebs surrounding the center of the room except for one opening. Charming Thunder walked up to the opening until he was suddenly ambushed by a big skulltula hanging from his web. The skulltula was then stupid enough to turn around to show its belly so Charming Thunder slashed it at the spot. The skulltula then collapsed to the ground and died laying on the floor. He then looked down from a great height and gulped. "What's the matter, Charming?" Cadence asked. "You're not afraid of heights are you?" "No. Of course not. I just didn't know that its....so....high....up." Charming Thunder gulped again and stood on the edge. He then closed his eyes and took a step then fell off the edge. He screamed in terror as he fell through the web ad somehow landed in the water. He popped out of the water an swam to dirt shore. He looked around the room and then sees another area of the room. He jumped up to the area and comes across another web covering another hole to go down. He then turned to see a torch next to him and hatched an idea. "We can burn this web, but where can I find a stick?" He looked around the room and encountered a deku baba. It tried to strike at him, but he dodged the attack and sliced its neck off. Charming Thunder then took off the stick that was used as its neck and lit it on fire at the torch. He then burned the cobweb and made an opening as he was still standing on the web. He then fell down in the hole and landed in the water. He popped out of the water and sees a door. He entered the room where it is misty and dark. Charming Thunder then heard a sound coming from the room and looked around to find the source. Cadence looked up not saying a word as he turned to see her shaking. "What is it, Cadence?" He looked up to see a parasitic insect on the ceiling looking at them with one eye. It then crawled and landed in front of them then roared and got into its battle stance. "It's one of the parasitic monsters inside the Deku Tree! Charming, go for its eye." With the advice heard, Charming Thunder took out his slingshot and fired at its eye, but it closed its eye and the rock only hits the hard eye lid. Gohma then climbed the wall and stood on the ceiling and laid eggs to the ground and hatched Gohma larvas. They leap towards Charming Thunder and Charming Thunder slashes it in half. The other came from behind and jumped on his back. Charming Thunder struggled to get it off and throws it to the ground then stabs it in the eye. He then looked up to the Gohma and fired his slingshot to get it down to the ground. Its eye spun in a circle as it became dizzy from the rock shot from the slingshot. Charming Thunder then leaps in the air and stabs it in the eye to finish off the giant bug. It then began to collapse to the ground and disintegrate into ashes. --------------------- Charming Thunder and Cadence left the mouth of the Great Deku Tree and stood at the spot where the tree can see them. "It's done, Great Deku Tree," Charming Thunder reported. "It was a parasitic insect and I slain it." "Well done, Charming," the Deku Tree said. "Thou hast verily demonstrated thy courage. I knew that thou wouldst be able to carry out my wishes. Now, I have yet more to tell ye, wouldst thou listen?" "Of course." Charming Thunder sat down on the grass as he began to listen to the Deku Tree. "Then listen carefully. A wicked centaur from the desert cast this dreadful curse upon me." This brought an image of the same centaur from Charming Thunder's dream. "This evil centaur ceaselessly uses his vile, sorcerous powers in his search for the Sacred Realm that is connected to Hyrule. For it is in that Sacred Realm that one will find the divine relic, the Triforce, which contains the essence of the gods. You see before time began, before spirits and life existed, three golden goddesses descended upon the chaos that was Hyrule. Din, the goddess of power, Nayru, the goddess of wisdom, and Farore, the goddess of courage. Din, with her strong flaming arms, she cultivated the land and created the red earth. Nayru poured her wisdom onto the earth and gave the spirit of law to the world. Farore, with her rich soul, produced all life forms who would uphold the law. The three great goddesses, their labors completed, departed for the heavens. And golden sacred triangles remained at the point where the goddesses left the world. Since then, the sacred triangles have become the basis for our world's providence. And, the resting place of the triangles has become the Sacred Realm." "And now that centaur you speak of is after it." "Indeed, Charming. Thou must never allow the desert centaur to get his hands on the sacred Triforce. Thou must never suffer that centaur, with his evil heart, to enter the Sacred Realm of legend. That evil centaur who cast the death curse upon me and sapped my power. Because of that curse, my end is nigh." Charming Thunder's eyes widened after he heard the news. Even Cadence was shocked as well as him. "Though your valiant efforts to break the curse were successful, I was doomed before you started." "So you're saying that you're dying now?" "Yes, I will pass away soon. But do not grieve for me. I have been able to tell you of these important matters. This is Hyrule's final hope. Charming, go now to Hyrule Castle. There, thou will surely meet the Princess of Destiny. Take this stone with you. The stone that centaur wanted to much, that he cast the curse on me." A flash of green light appeared as Charming Thunder stood up and received the Kokiri's Emerald. "The future depends upon thee, Charming Thunder. hou art courageous. Cadence the Fairy, help Charming carry out my will. I entreat ye. Cadence, good....bye." The Deku Tree then began to wither as tears fell off Charming Thunder's face." "I'll miss you, Great Deku Tree." "Let's go to Hyrule Castle, Charming," Cadence said. Charming Thunder took his leave as Cadence took a pause. "Goodbye, Great Deku Tree." She then leaves the meadow with Charming Thunder as their main quest to save Hyrule has begun. > Hyrule Castle > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- At Charming Thunder's house, he packed up everything he needed for his journey in his saddle bag and placed it on his back. He then walked out of the house and climbed down as he made his way to the pathway out of the forest. He sees a raspberry maned filly next to the pathway with two other fillies. She noticed the young unicorn with his fairy about to walk passed her. "Please tell me its not true," she said. "Tell me that you're not leaving the forest." "Please tell us," the blonde mane pony demanded. "Girls, please don't provoke him," the light green maned filly said. Charming Thunder looked down with guilt and looked back at the filly and replied, "I'm sorry, Roseluck. Daisy. Lily. It's true. The Deku Tree told me with his dying breath that I must leave to save Hyrule. Surely you would all understand." Roseluck, Daisy, and Lily then fainted to the grass and wept after hearing the news. "This is awful!!" Daisy shouted. "The horror!" Roseluck shouted. "The horror!" Charming Thunder approached them and lifted Roseluck's chin to his eye level as the other two looked at him. "Don't worry, girls. I'll still come to visit when I get a chance or if I burn my shield." "You promise?" the fillies asked. "I promise. Cross my heart and hope to die." The three fillies then got up and jumped to hug Charming Thunder. "Please tell us about your journey when you return." "I will." "Hate to interrupt your goodbyes, Charming, but we need to get moving," Cadence said. "We'll miss you, Charming," Lily said. "Even I will miss my home." Charming Thunder and Cadence then made their way through the path to exit the forest. When they arrived at the bridge, he sees Carrot Top standing at the bridge behind him. "Oh, you're leaving?" Carrot Top asked. Charming Thunder turned to face his best friend with courage in his heart. "I am, Carrot. Sorry for not telling you sooner." "I knew that you would leave the forest someday, Charming. Because you are different from me and my friends. But that's OK, because we'll be friends forever...won't we?" "Of course, Carrot. We'll be friends forever. There is nothing that can change that." "That's good. I want you to have this ocarina. Please take good care of it." Carrot Top hands Charming Thunder her ocarina as a departing gift to him for his journey. He puts it away in his saddle bag and embraces a hug from her. "When you play my Ocarina, I hope you will think of me and come back to the forest to visit." The two released the hug and Charming Thunder wiped a tear from his eye. He then took a step back still looking at Carrot Top and then began to depart from the Kokiri Forest. Outside, Charming Thunder stood in front of the entrance to the forest as he ventured forth to Hyrule Castle. He was stopped when he heard a voice calling to him saying, "Hoo hoot!" "Who's there?" Charming Thunder asked as he looked around. "Charming, look up here." Charming Thunder looked up to see an owl perching on a branch of a tree looking at him. "I am Kaepore Gaebora. It is a pleasure to meet you at last. It appears that the time has finally come for you to start your adventure! You will encounter many hardships ahead. That is your fate. Don't feel discouraged, even during the toughest times!" Kaepora then used his left wing to point to the direction where Charming Thunder needs to go. "Go straight this way and you will see Hyrule Castle. You will meet a princess there." "Thank you, Kaepora. If I need any more information, I know who to call." "All right then, I'll see you around! Hoot hoot hoot ho!" Kaepora Gaebora spreads his wings and began to fly away from Charming Thunder and Cadence. They then trotted on the pathway towards the castle and sees that the drawbridge is open for them. After they crossed it, they then arrived to the town of Hyrule. He was amazed at what he is seeing in the town. The place was crowded with tons of earth ponies, unicorns, and pegasus. "This place is huge," Charming Thunder said. "The castle is this way," Cadence said. "I can see it from here." Charming Thunder nodded and walked past the crowd to the road that leads to the castle. He peeked around a corner and sees a guard at the gate. "Well I can't just go up to him and ask him politely to let me in. Unless..." Charming Thunder turned to see a wall of vines he can climb on. He then climbed up the vines which lead to the top of the cliff that leads past the gate. He sneaks past the guards along the way to the castle until he came across a moat. He sees a hole at the ledge which may lead to the castle. He timed his jump as Cadence followed and made it to the ledge. He the crawled under the hole and entered the castle. --------------------- Arriving at the castle courtyard after getting past the guards, Charming Thunder sees a violet alicorn filly with a moderate sapphire blue and violet mane and tail with pink streaks looking through a window. He slowly approached her at the top of the stairs as she gazed through the window. The alicorn then turned to come face to face with the red unicorn a little surprised. "Who?!" she said. "Who are you? How did you get past the guards?" Charming Thunder blushed a little and replied, "Well that's a long story. You see--" Cadence bops him on the head in order to keep his mouth shut. "Ow!" "Oh? What's that? Is that...a fairy?! Then, are you from the forest? Then you wouldn't happen to have the Spiritual Stone of the Forest, would you? Its a green shiny stone. Do you have it?" "Oh, you mean this?" Charming Thunder took out the stone that the Deku Tree gave him before he embarked on his journey. "Just as I thought!" The alicorn stepped up to him a little closer stepping away from the window as Charming Thunder blushed slightly. "You see, I had a dream. In my dream, dark storm clouds were billowing over the land of Hyrule. But suddenly, a ray of light shot out of the forest, parted the clouds and lit up the ground. The light turned into a figure holding a green and shining stone, followed by a fairy. I know this is a prophecy that somepony would come from the forest. Yes, I thought you might be the one." Her eyes widened as she gasped. "Oh, I'm sorry! I got carried away with my story and I didn't even properly introduce myself! I am Twilight, princess of Hyrule. What is your name?" "I am Charming Thunder and this is my companion Cadence the Fairy." "Pleasure to meet you, your highness," Cadence said. "Charming Thunder. Strange it sounds somehow....familiar." Twilight then smiled at Charming Thunder. "OK then, Charming. I'm going to tell you the secret of the Sacred Realm that has been passed down by the Royal Family of Hyrule. Please keep this a secret from everyone." "You have my word, princess." "The legend goes like this; The three goddesses hid the Triforce containing the power of the gods somewhere in Hyrule. The power to grant the wish of the one who holds the Triforce in his hands. If someone with a righteous heart makes a wish, it will lead Hyrule to a golden age of prosperity. If someone with an evil mind has his wish granted, the world will be consumed by evil. That is what has been told. So, the ancient Sages built the Temple of Time to protect the Triforce from evil ones." "You mean that the temple is...." "That's right. The Temple of Time is the entrance through which you can enter the Sacred Realm from our world. But the entrance is sealed with a stone wall called the Door of Time. And, in order to open the door, it is said that you need to collect three Spiritual Stones. And another thing you need...is the treasure that the Royal Family keeps along with this legend... The Ocarina of Time." "I get it now, but why are you at that window over there?" "I was spying through this window just now. The other element from my dream...the dark clouds... I believe they symbolize...that centaur in there! Will you look through the window at him?" Charming Thunder nodded and peeped through the window next to Twilight. He sees a centaur walking and then kneeling to someone in the room. "Can you see the centaur with the evil eyes? That is Tirek, the leader of the Gerudos. They hail from the desert far to the west. Though he swears allegiance to my father, I am sure he is not sincere. The dark clouds that covered Hyrule in my dream. They must symbolize that being." Tirek turns his to the window as Charming Thunder ducks to hide himself from sight. "What happened? Did he see you?" "I think so. He was responsible for the Great Deku Tree's death." "Don't worry. He doesn't have any idea what we're planning...yet." "Surely your father must know about that dream. Did you--" "Yes. I told my father about my dream. However, he didn't believe it was a prophecy. But I can sense that centaur's evil intentions. What Tirek is after must be nothing less than the Triforce of the Sacred Realm. He must have come to Hyrule to obtain it! And, he wants to conquer Hyrule...no, the entire world! Charming, now, we are the only ones who can protect Hyrule! Please!" "That is why I'm here. To save Hyrule as the Deku Tree said." Twilight suddenly hugged Charming Thunder. "Thank you! I am afraid. I have a feeling that centaur is going to destroy Hyrule. He has such terrifying power! But it's fortunate that you have come. We must no let Tirek get the Triforce! I will protect the Ocarina of Time with all my power! He shall not have it! You go find the other two Spiritual Stones! Let's get the Triforce before he does, and then defeat him." "You can count on me and Cadence, your highness." "One more thing, take this letter." Twilight used her unicorn magic to write a letter on a piece of paper then wrapped it up like a scroll. "I'm sure it will be helpful to you." Charming Thunder was about to reach for the scroll, but Twilight stopped him for one thing. "You don't know how to use magic, do you?" "Some Kokiris back home are unicorns and they didn't learn any magic." "That's terrible! Here take my hoof." Charming Thunder slowly placed his hoof on Twilight's and she used her magic to share with him her knowledge of magic and taught him spells. "There. Try doing a teleportation spell." Charming Thunder closed his eyes as his horn glowed and he teleported to the bottom of the staircase. He was amazed that he can now use spells as Twilight approached him. "That was perfect! Now here." Twilight shows him the scroll and he levitated it with his magic and puts it away in his bag. "Good luck, Charming. I am counting on you." Twilight then kissed him on the cheek which made him blush once again. "So I should see myself out? What about the guards?" "Don't worry. My attendant will guide you out of the castle. Don't be afraid to talk to her." Charming Thunder turned to see the same alicorn he saw in his dream. Charming Thunder and Cadence approached her as she greeted herself, "I am Luna of the Sheikahs. I am responsible for protecting Princess Twilight Sparkle. Everything is exactly as the princess foretold. You are a courageous little colt. You are heading out on a big, new adventure, aren't you? My role in the Princess's dream was to teach a melody to the one from the forest. This is an ancient melody passed down by the Royal Family. I have played this song for Princess Zelda as a lullaby ever since she was a baby. There is mysterious power in these notes. Now listen carefully..." Luna started to hum a tune as Charming Thunder levitated out his ocarina and played along with the tune as he learned Twilight's Lullaby. "Come. If the castle soldiers find you, there will be trouble. Let me lead you out of the castle." > Side Quest #1: Cucco Roundup > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Outside of the town, Luna stood next to Charming Thunder as she pointed to a mountain. "Take a good look at that mountain," she explained. "That is Death Mountain, home of the minotaurs. They hold the Spiritual Stone of Fire. At the foot of Death Mountain you will find my village, Kakariko. That is where I was born and raised. You should talk to some of the villagers there before you go up Death Mountain. The song I just taught you has some mysterious power. Only Royal Family members are allowed to learn this song. Remember, it will help to prove your connection with the Royal Family." "My connection?" Charming Thunder said to himself. "The Princess is waiting for you to return to the castle with the stones. All right. We're counting on you!" Luna then threw a Deku Nut to the ground which caused a flash. When it faded, she was no longer present with Charming Thunder. "Let's go, Charming," Cadence said. "We have no time to stand around." "Right." Charming Thunder then ran to the entrance to Kakariko Village and walked up the stairs to the village. Arriving at the village, he looked around and talked to some villagers about Death Mountain. Some told him that it might be dangerous to climb up with an active volcano. Others told him that he may need a better shield to go up the mountain. Charming Thunder might have enough bits for one since he saw a shop near the gate to the mountain when entered the village. When he was about to go to the shop, he heard a mare's voice saying, "What should I do!? My cuccos have all flown away!" Charming Thunder turned to see a yellow mare with a pink mane and tail with three butterflies as her cutie mark. She then saw Charming Thunder as he approached her. "You, little colt." "Yes?" "Please help me bring them back to this pen! I mean-- if you want to." "Don't worry, miss. I'll bring back your cuccos." "Oh, thank you. If you find one, bring them back to this pen." Charming Thunder then started to look around the village to find the cuccos. He saw one and started to chase it down as he attempts to catch it. He then realized that he has magic now and uses his levitation spell on it. He then levitated it back to the pen and he began to search for any others. He then heard a cucco hiding in a box and he uncovers it and levitates the cucco back to the pen. He found the third one at the gate to Death Mountain at the side of the shop he needed to go to later. He then levitated it and teleported to the pen and puts it in there. "Only three more." Charming Thunder nodded and continued his search. He then saw one at an abandoned house and used his magic to levitate it to the pen. He began to look around at the windmill and sees one at the other side of the wooden fence where the potion shop is located. He teleported to the other side of the fence and levitated the second to last cucco, but before he could, he heard the last one behind the windmill. He teleported the cucco to the pen and he climbed up the ladder to catch the last cucco and returns it to the pen where it belongs. "Thank you for finding my cuccos, young colt. I hope I wasn't wasting your time for what you need to get to." Charming Thunder panted with air as he replied, "No problem. Always glad to help anypony out." "If you don't mind, I want to give you a bottle as a reward for bringing my cuccos back." The mare then gives Charming Thunder a glass bottle and he picks it up with his magic and puts it away in his saddlebag. "Please take good care of it." "I will. Thanks." Charming Thunder then began to walk away from the cucco pen. "Now is probably the time to get a brand new shield since the villagers told us that it can be dangerous when we go up the mountain," Cadence said. Charming Thunder then walked up to the shop and entered to see the shopkeeper. "Welcome," the shopkeeper said. "How may I help you today?" "Do you have any shields I can buy?" "I do as a matter of fact. That will be 50 bits." Charming Thunder levitated the bag containing fifty bits and places it on the counter in front of him. "Thank you for shopping." Charming Thunder exited the store as he equipped the shield and headed out to see the guard who is standing next to the gate. "The road is closed beyond this point," the guard said. "Can't you read the sign over there?" Charming Thunder then looked at the sign and states that no one will get passage to Death Mountain without a royal decree. "Eh? Oh, I see. You're just a kid, and you can't read yet." "Ha ha ha. Very funny. I have a letter from Twilight allowing me to pass through the gate." Charming Thunder then levitated out the scroll and gives it to the guard. The guard then opened it and started to read it. "This is surely Princess Twilight's writing." The guard then started to laugh and rolled up the scroll. "What kind of funny game has our princess come up with now?!" Charming Thunder then gave him an angry look. "This is no joke. Unless you are disobeying the princess' orders." "OK, OK, all right. You can go now... just be careful, Mr. Hero!" The guard then opened the gate with his unicorn magic. "I see that you already have the shield you need equipped. There is an active volcano up there after all. And if I may ask a favor from you. And no you don't have to do it now. Its only when you get a chance." "Be quick. I must head up as soon as possible." "Have you been to the Happy Mask Shop that just opened in the Hyrule Castle Town Market? Everyone is talking about it!" "I might have passed passed by that place when I was going to see the princess. Why?" "My little boy pesters me for a popular mask, but I don't have time to go there. So, could you go and get the mask for me next time you are in the market? If you don't feel like it, that's OK, but... well, I have no choice, this is my job." "If it means so much for your son, I will get it once I get a chance. I promise. Right, Cadence." "You bet." "Thank you, young colt," the guard replied. Charming Thunder then walked past the gate to Death Mountain and hopefully get the second Spiritual Stone from the minotaurs. > Minotaur City > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Charming Thunder walked on the path to Minotaur City and came across one of the minotaurs. "Excuse me," Charming Thunder said. The minotaur stood up and turned around the see young unicorn in front of him. "Greetings, young traveler," the minotaur replied. "How can I help you?' "We were hoping if you can point us to the direction to Minotaur City," Cadence said. "It's important." "Minotaur City is just a little way up on the trail. It won't take much longer to get there, even on foot." "Thanks." Charming Thunder rushed on the trail to the city as explained. He then encountered a minotaur charging toward him. He leaps in the air and dodged him. He then turned to him and shouted, "Watch where you are going, buddy." Entering the city, Charming Thunder and Cadence encountered other minotaurs inside who appear to be starving. One of them noticed the young unicorn and approached him. "Welcome to the Minotaur City," the minotaur greeted. "What brings you here, young traveler?" "I was told that you have the spiritual stone of fire here. Is it true?" "You're looking for the spiritual stone? You must mean that delicious-looking red stone that was once displayed here! I was so hungry that I thought it would be OK to just give it one tiny little lick...so I snuck out here to get it for myself. But when I got there, it was already gone!" "You guys tried to eat the spiritual stone?" "We minotaurs eat rocks. If you are looking for it, our leader Iron Will has it. He always says that everyone is after that red stone! So he shut himself up in his room saying that he will wait for the Royal Family's messenger." Charming Thunder knew what he meant by Royal Family and thought about Twilight's Lullaby Luna taught him. "You know where his room is?" Cadence asked. "He is at the bottom level. Just try not to jump off of here. Its dangerous for your--" Charming Thunder suddenly teleported away from the minotaur which surprised him to know where he went. He then saw the young unicorn teleport to the bottom level and scratched his head with confusion. "Never mind." Charming Thunder then played Twilight's Lullaby in front of the stone door while standing on the carpet near it. The door slowly opened and Charming Thunder entered along with Cadence. He was then in the presence of a blue minotaur which appeared to be Iron Will. "What the heck!" Iron Will shouted. "Who are you?! When I heard the song of the Royal Family, I expected their messenger had arrived, but...you're just a little kid!" Charming Thunder was not amused and rolled his eyes as he continued to speak. "Has Iron Will, the big boss of the minotaurs, really lost so much status to be treated like this by his Sworn Brother, the King? Now, I'm REALLY angry! Get out of my face, now!" "Overkill much," Charming Thunder said. "Geez. Why are you in a bad mood right now?" "Are you asking why I'm in such a bad mood right now? Ancient creatures have infested the Dodongo's Cavern! We've had a poor harvest of our special crop, Bomb Flowers! Starvation and hunger because of the rock shortage!" "Perhaps I could be of assistance?" "No! This is a minotaur matter. We don't need any help from strangers!" Charming Thunder then got an idea to calm him down so he took out his ocarina and played a tune his friend Carrot Top played. Upon playing the song, Iron Will began to start dancing wildly. After a while, he stopped and looked at Charming Thunder. "Heeey!! What a nice tune! Just like that, my depression is all gone! Something just came over me! I suddenly wanted to dance like crazy! I am Darunia! I'm the big boss of the minotaurs. Was there something you wanted to ask me about?" "I was wondering if I could have the spiritual stone of fire." "You too?" "What do you mean? Was sompony else here?" "Yeah. This red centaur asked me for the spiritual stone which is also called the Minotaur Ruby. I told him to leave then he released the Dodongo's inside the cavern. If you want it badly, you will have to do something for me." "Name it." "Why don't you go destroy the monsters inside of the Dodongo's Cavern and prove you're a real stallion. That way, everybody will be happy again! If you do it, I will give you anything you want, even the Spiritual Stone!" "You got yourself a deal, Iron Will." "Before you go, take this." Charming Thunder then received a gold bracelet from Iron Will and puts it on his arm. "What's this for?" Cadence asked. "If you wear this, even a little fella like you can pick up a Bomb Flower." "That might be useful to blow up that blockage at the cavern. Let's go try it out." Charming Thunder then ran out of the room to leave the city to the entrance of Dodongo's Cavern. He then saw a Bomb Flower and picked it up. He then threw it and took a few steps back to let the bomb explode to blow up the rubble blocking the entrance inside the cavern. He then walked into the cave and begun his quest to destroy the evil inside the cavern. And he can't wait to bomb some Dodongos.
