> My Little Pony: Friendship is Overpowered (Season 3) > by ocalhoun > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > S03E01 The Crystal Empire Part 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You wanted to see me? To give me a test? I brought my own quills and plenty of paper to show my work." Twilight Sparkle teleported her supplies into the royal throne room, quills, paper... and more, much more. By the time the flashes stopped, she'd moved three complete writing desks in, one set up for magic, one for history, and another for mathematics. "This is a different kind of test." Celestia sent all the supplies away again with a wave of her hoof and another series of teleportation flashes. "The Crystal Empire has returned." Twilight nodded sagely. "Ah, the Crystal Empire. I've read all about it." "Princess Cadance and Shining Armor are already there." "How'd they get there so fast?" Twilight shook her head. "Ah well, no time to waste. Time to start the Crystal Fair!" Celestia nodded and Twilight vanished in another flash of teleportation. One more massive burst later, and she had all her friends standing safely in the open courtyard below the Crystal Castle. "Okay, everyone. Each of you has a page of instructions to carry out to get the fair going. I need to go recharge Cadance's magic to make sure she can maintain the dome. Go!" > S03E02 The Crystal Empire Part 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The moment Twilight reached the top of the tower where Cadance and Shining Armor waited (which didn't take very long, since she was able to simply teleport there), Cadance's magic faltered and failed, letting Sombra's dark shadow enter the gleaming city. "The Empire is under attack!" Shining Armor yelled. "I know, I know." Twilight looked down at Cadance. "How is she?" "Not good." The pained look on his face was pitiful. Twilight restored her sister in law to perfect health with a simple zap of magic. Unfortunately, Sombra was already inside the dome, making it useless. "We have to find the Crystal Heart," Cadance said, looking out over the city, at the devastation Sombra was wreaking below. "Only that has the magic that will keep him at bay." Twilight nodded. First, a simple combination of a locator spell and a teleport spell. A flash, and she was right there next to the heart. Sombra's long-laid trap fired and teleported her right back out again, but now she knew where it was. All she would have to do was overpower it. She blasted the castle with a small portion of her magical energy, burning a hole straight through from the balcony below to the secret chamber holding the heart. As it slid down the smoking new tunnel right into Cadance's hooves, Twilight allowed herself a small grin. "Okay. You get the Crystal Heart installed. I have a thousand year old king to disintegrate." Twilight looked out over the rim of the balcony and easily spotted Sombra's location. Teleporting in front of him was a cinch. Blasting him out of existence was even easier; all she needed to do was focus a portion of her power on him. As he dissolved into quickly dissipating smoke, Twilight grinned. The hard part had been making sure she didn't use too much power and cause collateral damage. > S03E03 Too Many Pinkie Pies > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Okay, everypony, please. Calm down!" Twilight waved her hooves in as calming a fashion as she could manage, hoping to placate the mob of ponies outside her library. She didn't spend any time wondering why they all thought she was the one who could fix it; obviously she was. "Calm down?" Rarity stomped a hoof. "I just had a Pinkie hurricane raging through my shop!" "And they ruined our critter picnic," Fluttershy added. Twilight overpowered the crowd's shouting. "Take it easy, ponies. I've got this. I'll just cast a magic rewind spell to undo any magic done on Pinkie within the last day or so." That mollified them. Her horn glowing brightly, Twilight sent a burst of magic to the nearest Pinkie. It didn't matter which one; once they were rewinded far enough, they would unite. The mob of pink ponies flashed through a bizarre series of states. Hitherto, nopony had realized just how much magic that earth pony experienced. But, before long, the duplicates began merging back together, half at a time. After only a few iterations, there were just four, then two, then only one. After that, Pinkie got a stern talking to, and agreed to singlehoofedly repair all the damage her duplicates had done... which took her several minutes. > S03E04 One Bad Apple > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The three fillies stared as Babs Seed walked off with Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, their pumpkin float in a million pieces somewhere down the hill. "What just happened?" Applebloom asked, still in a daze. Scootaloo shook her head. "I think Babs just went to the dark side." "We have to tell Applejack!" Sweetie Belle pointed out. "No! We're not snitches!" Apple Bloom replied. Scootaloo was quick to join in: "Yeah! And we're not babies!" Sweetie Belle rolled her eyes. "Really, girls? It's not like we have to run to her crying. Just leave this to me." * * * The other two fillies reluctantly followed behind as Sweetie Belle approached Applejack. As soon as she saw the three coming, Applejack paused her work for a moment. "Howdy, y'all! What are you three up to today?" Sweetie Belle cut the other two off with a raised hoof. "Oh, we're just repairing our parade float." "Repairing?" Applejack wiped her sweat and then stared at them. "I thought y'all were finished with that thing already." "Well, we were until Babs broke it." "She what now?" "Yeah, sent it rolling down the hill to smash so she could look cool in front of a couple bullies." Applejack's eyes narrowed. "I've gotta give that filly one hey of a talkin' to. You three just wait here. I'll---" "That's okay, Applejack." Sweetie Belle stepped in her way. "We just came to ask you if you had any extra wagon wheels we could use." "Sure thing, Sugarcube, in the back of the barn behind the hay bales. But I'm still gonna have a word with that filly. She oughta know better." Sweetie Belle shrugged as Applejack stormed off. "If that's what you want to do." She waited a moment until Applejack was well out of earshot. "You see girls, that's how you tattle without being a baby about it." They nodded in wide-eyed appreciation. > S03E05 Magic Duel > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Pinkie Pie and Applejack rushed to save Rarity from the awful colors of her magically produced dress, Twilight turned to the cloaked interloper. "What is going on here?" She pulled down her hood. "Well well well. If it isn't... Twilight Sparkle." Twilight gasped. "Trixie?" "What's she doing here?" Spike asked. Even as he finished, Trixie's red-tinged magic warped him into a little bouncy ball and sent him bouncing off. With a flare of her own horn, Twilight undid the spell and brought her assistant back. "Enough! What do you want?" "You and I have some unfinished business. My magic's gotten better since I was here last. And I'm going to prove it! Me and you, a magic duel. Winner stays, loser leaves Ponyville forever!" Twilight laughed. "Sure thing." Without warning, she called upon the elements of harmony, sending a thick beam of rainbows. Trixie tried to block it with a shield, yelling "That's no fair! You can't use outside help!" Her shield, though, was pathetic compared to the elements, which burned through it instantly. When they struck her, curiously, they didn't attack the unicorn, but just stripped away and shattered the amulet she was wearing. As the afterglow of the elements died away, Twilight peered in to see what had happened. "Trixie?" Trixie winced. "Oh, I had such horrible intentions for you and your friends when I was wearing that Alicorn Amulet. I just couldn't control myself. You can forgive me, can't you?" "Hmm. Sure." She smirked. "Oh, good. Don't you think the Great and Apologetic Trixie is the most magnificent humble pony you've ever seen?" With that, she ran off in an undersized puff of smoke. She stumbled once, but quickly recovered and continued running away. > S03E06 Sleepless in Ponyville > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Haa, that sure was funny, wasn't it? Heheh. How they were all afraid of The Olden Pony? Heh, but not me, heh!" Scootaloo shivered at the thought of Rainbow's story. "That's because you're tough, just like when I was your age!" Rainbow doused the campfire with a bucket of water, startling Scootaloo. That's right, Scootaloo thought. She's tough; I'm tough!. "I'm hitting the sack. Come in whenever you feel like it," Rainbow said, disappearing into the tent. Scootaloo trotted inside a few minutes later, and remembering to be tough like the idol she always wanted to be, shrugged off scary thoughts and had a wonderful night's sleep. > S03E07 Wonderbolts Academy > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust watched as yet another cadet came to a wince-worthy crash landing. "They should make us Wonderbolts right now," Lightning remarked. Rainbow grinned at her. "Yeah, they should." "Rainbow Dash!" Spitfire yelled out. "Yes Ma'am!" The Captain walked up to her. "We've been reviewing your history and achievements, and the board has decided that you should be made a Wonderbolt right now." "Seriously!?" Rainbow could hardly help herself from dancing with joy. "Seriously?" Lightning mumbled from beside her. "Good luck with the academy!" Rainbow called back toward Lightning as Spitfire led her away. > S03E08 Apple Family Reunion > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack looked up from the family photo album. "That's true! Busy as everypony's lives are gettin' these days, chances are pretty slim we'll be this lucky next time 'round. Don't worry, Granny, I'm gonna make sure this is the most memorable reunion we've ever had! I'd better get started... I've got some plannin' to do!" She walked off, already running through things in her head as the other two stayed there looking over pictures. She had a lot of planning to do indeed... and she knew exactly who could help. When it came to planning parties, Pinkie couldn't be beat. If she asked for Pinkie's help, it would be a success for sure. > S03E09 Spike at Your Service > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike tied the wayward balloon carefully, then looked around. "That was a close one. I... If I didn't know better, I would swear that I was in the middle of the dark and scary Everfree Forest." A twig snapped somewhere behind him. "What was that?! C'mon, Spike," he said to himself. "Just because this forest is full of wild dangerous animals, doesn't mean that you're gonna see one!" But then the smell came, the reeking breath of three huge timberwolves. Spike screamed, and he was about to run... but then he remembered he was a dragon. A fire-breathing dragon. Instead of running, he blew thick green flames at the approaching timberwolves. They didn't seem daunted at first, but once the flames hit one and he caught on fire, all three beat a hasty retreat deeper into the forest. "Heh. Nice one, Spike," he congratulated himself. "No problem at all." > S03E10 Keep Calm and Flutter On > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I'm earning his trust by giving him a little space to be himself," Fluttershy said beneath her spinning house, strangely calm. "Hate to break it to you," Spike said, "but he used that 'space to be himself' to tear out all the reforming spells from the library!" She touched a hoof to her chin. "Oh, well that does explain the paper eating." "He ate them?" Twilight's face scrunched up. "Ugh! It's a good thing I took the time to memorize a few before we began." She looked up at the floating house. "Discord! You come out right now!" Discord's face popped out through a window, staying perfectly still despite the rotation of the house. "Yes?" Rather than respond, Twilight fired off her spell, sending a strong wave of magic that wrapped around Discord's head. He immediately put the house back down where it was supposed to be and walked out, holding his mismatched hands together. "I'm so sorry for all I've ever done to you," he mumbled. "Can you ever forgive me?" > S03E11 Just for Sidekicks > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike grinned, watching Twilight and her friends leave, already preparing his baking checklist in his mind. Of course, he'd have to get all the pet-related chores done first, but that would be no problem. It would be nothing compared to what Twilight demanded of him sometimes. * * * Watching the happily sleeping pets, Spike cut himself the first slice of his jewel cake. Yes, life was good. > S03E12 Games Ponies Play > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight and her friends waited on the train station for the Equestria Games inspector to arrive, anxious to spot her and keep her busy until Rarity's complicated preparations to Princess Cadance's hair could be completed. "There she is!" Rainbow shouted, pointing out a pony with the floral print luggage they were all looking for. Twilight held her back. "Hold on. Floral print luggage isn't that uncommon. Let's wait for a moment and see if she's the only one." A few moments later, Twilight's caution was borne out as yet another pony with floral print luggage stepped off the train. Satisfied, Twilight approached the new mare and asked her, "Are you the inspector for the Equestria games, perhaps?" She nodded. "Indeed I am. I hope you're prepared." > S03E13 Magical Mystery Cure > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Come on, Twilight," Spike prodded, "what's going on?" Twilight shook her head. "Remember that unfinished spellbook Princess Celestia sent me? I cast the spell so I could find out what it was, but nothing seemed to happen. But now I know something did happen. The spell has changed the Elements of Harmony! That must be why their cutie marks are all wrong!" "So just cast a counter-spell to switch them back." "A counter-spell doesn't exist!" Twilight grinned. "Yet." A look of intense concentration passed over her face, then her horn began to glow, sending a wave of energy in all directions and clouding the room with glowing sparks. Doing his best to avoid the sparks, Spike backed away coughing. "There, that should do it." Twilight shook her mane out and opened her wings. "Twilight! You've got wings!" Spike shouted. She looked back at them. "Huh. I guess that counter-spell had some side effects."
