> Killer Secrets > by WingsPony > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > A Dark Room > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rarity walked into the show room of her boutique, she held a brown paper bag in her mouth. Her eyes shifted all around the boutique, looking for any signs of life. When she saw none, Rarity dove into one of her changing rooms. But this was no ordinary changing room. No this wasn’t a changing room that one would use to try on one of her many fabulous dresses! No, this specific changing stall held a secret, more like a secret room to exact. Even so, Rarity poked her head out from behind the curtain for a moment to make sure that nopony had seen her. Once she was satisfied that she was alone Rarity disappeared behind the light lavender curtains. None the less, Rarity lit her horn a blue aura pulled back the lavender curtain that laid against the back wall of the stall. A large smile pulled at her lips as she stared at the large black door that laid before her. With that, Rarity lowered her horn towards the lock. Her horn still glowed with her icy blue magic, she could feel the cool metal against her horn. The lock popped open, Rarity had installed an enchanted lock that responded to her magic signature. Rarity whispered to herself as she pushed open the door with her hoof. “I must hide this at once!” Rarity quietly closed the door behind her, she set down the bag on the floor. She lit a lantern that hung from the ceiling she it with her magic. The new source of light filled the room with a dim light. Eventually Rarity pulled out the contents of the plain paper bag. The first item she pulled out was a picture frame. Rarity stared at the photo in the frame for a few moments before hanging it on the wall. She took a few steps back admiring the photo on the wall. Incidentally, she was pleased Rarity, let out a deep chuckle from her throat. “This photo is a lovely memento from my latest excursion…That will show them! Now they know that Rarity is the most cunning, powerful pony in all Ponyville! I crush my enemies under my hoof while, I grind them into dust! Until there is nothing left!” A dark smile graced her alabaster lips as Rarity mumbled to herself. “If anypony saw this photo they would know the truth! Well if anypony came in this room they would know what I truly am!” Rarity trotted back to the paper bag, she pulled out a large stainless steel knife. It laid there at the bottom of the bag, Rarity picked up the blade with great care. The steel blade shined like a diamond in the pale light of the dark room. Rarity frowned when she spotted a few drops of red residue on her favorite blade. Without a second thought Rarity levitated a handkerchief over to the knife in her hooves. Thus Rarity didn’t waste another moment as she lovingly wiped off the last of the red droplets from her precious blade. The steel knife seemed to glimmer with a new found luster. Pleased with her work, Rarity carried the knife to it’s resting place. A smug smile crawled on her lips; Rarity couldn’t help but laugh to herself as she remembered the events from the day before. “Hehe, that will teach them! Those sexist pigs!” Without warning Rarity heard someone knocking on the front door of her boutique. A wave of panic washed over her, Rarity rushed out of her secret room as fast as her hooves could carry her. Rarity took a moment to compose herself just before she opened the door. A very filthy Rainbow Dash stood before her. The cyan pegasus was covered head to hoof in dark brown mud. Rarity’s face scrunched up in disgust, Rainbow Dash smiled at the unicorn. “Hey Rarity! I’m here right on time! Just like you asked! Shall we get started?” Rainbow Dash took a few steps forward, she was stopped in her tracks by a white hoof pressed against her chest. “I’m sorry Rainbow darling, but I can not allow you in my marvelous boutique while you are…covered in-” Rarity struggled to spit out the rest of her sentence. She couldn’t understand how Rainbow Dash could stand being so, so dirty! “This simply won’t do, Rainbow Dash! I can’t afford you getting mud on my beloved creations! You are banned from this shop until you are completely spotless!” Rainbow Dash moaned “Ugh, but I just got here!” She even stomped her hoof for emphasis, Rarity rolled her eyes in annoyance. Thus Rainbow Dash had an idea, she couldn‘t help but smile as the cogs in her mind began to turn. Rarity raised an eyebrow at Rainbow Dash’s worrisome expression before she could even ask what the pegasus was up to. The rainbow maned menace shook herself like a dog. Evidently, Rainbow Dash sent mud flying in all directions. Rarity felt the cold, wet, sticky mud cling to her glorious white coat. Rainbow Dash couldn’t help but smile at her spotless cyan coat. She could have sworn that she saw her coat sparkle, she shrugged the thought away. Rarity glared at Rainbow Dash for her crude cleaning method. “Well it looks like one of us, still needs a bath! It just so happens that it is me that needs a good long soak in the tub.” Rarity poked Rainbow Dash’s muzzle with her now soiled hoof. Rainbow Dash wrinkled her nose at the small smudge of mud. Still Rainbow Dash couldn’t help giggling as she quickly wiped away the small smudge with her fore hoof. Rarity puffed out her chest as she addressed the unruly pegasus. “ In the mean time, you may wait in the show room while I clean up. Please! Don’t cause any more trouble!” Rainbow Dash gave Rarity a salute, with a goofy grin on her face. “Yes, madam Rarity!” This response just made the white unicorn roll her eyes, Rainbow Dash walked past the dirty fashionista. Rarity slammed the door shut, she then pointed at a cushion that laid on the floor. Rainbow Dash got the message loud and clear. Without a word Rainbow Dash sat her plot on the fancy floor pillow, she smiled the most angelic like smile she could muster. Rarity could just hear what Rainbow Dash's smile was trying to get across. * I’m an angel, you can trust me! * Rarity knew better, she knew what that smile really meant. * I’m the devil and I know it! * Rarity sighed, she knew that she didn’t have time to deal with Rainbow Dash’s antics at least not for another hour or so. In any case Rarity walked up stairs and into her bathroom. Rainbow Dash’s ears twitched when she heard the bathwater running. None the less, Rainbow Dash rubbed her hooves together, she had a mischievous grin on her face. “Now is the perfect time for some snooping!” Within a few minutes Rainbow Dash had checked out every nook and cranny of the boutique. She looked high and low for anything suspicious or interesting. Rainbow Dash let out a groan of frustration. * What is with this place! I thought Rarity would have some juicy secrets lying around. Even her diary is a dud not to mention super boring! I never thought I would say this! But Rarity is more bland and boring than Twilight! Freaking Twilight Sparkle! How is that even possible, even Twilight had some dirty magazines hiding under her bed! * Annoyed, Rainbow Dash punched one of Rarity’s mannequins out of frustration. The lifeless pony figure flew into one of Rarity’s changing rooms. Rainbow Dash sighed as she went to retrieve the fallen pony on a stick. However, when Rainbow Dash pulled back the curtain to look for the fallen mannequin. What she saw shocked her, Rainbow Dash began to quake with a new found excitement. She saw the pony mannequin was tangled in the curtain on the back wall, exposing a large black door. * Well, well what do we have here miss perfect? A secret door! I knew it! Even a pony like Rarity has a few skeletons in her closet! * As a result Rainbow Dash grabbed the mannequin, she propped it up back in it‘s original stance. As a consequence, Rainbow Dash felt a drop of sweat drip down her brow. She gingerly push her fore hoof against the door, a pang of adrenaline pumped through her as the door creaked open. Rainbow Dash stepped inside the hidden chamber, she was then swallowed up into the darkness. > Discoveries > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow had no idea what to expect, as she walked into the room. A glint caught her eye. Rainbow felt her jaw drop when she walked over to the wall closest to her. It was covered with an array of knives and other weapons. The longer Rainbow stared at the collection of the weapons the more impressed she was. Apparently, Rarity had a large collection of knives, swords, spears and a few weapons she didn’t recognize. It was a stunning sight to see these artifacts from all eras of ponykind. Rainbow’s eyes focused on a large rectangular glass case. Just under the a large portion of the sword collection. The glass case held a small collection weapons from pre-Equestrian era. The ancient artifacts were resting on a dark magenta pillow. Specifically, Rainbow recognized a spear from the era of Commander Hurricane. The ancient spear was tarnished with age but that didn’t take away from the spear’s beauty. Rainbow couldn’t believe her eyes, she knew that Rarity liked history. But she never imagined that Rarity was into collecting weapons. “Okay, Rarity just got twenty percent cooler!” Rainbow said in awe. Rainbow gasped when she looked over and saw a handful of suits of armor. The polished amor rested on number of pony mannequins. She even saw a few filly sized suits of armor hanging from the ceiling. One of the larger suits was made of a sliver like metal. The armor was really well polished it glowed bright in the dim lantern light. Rainbow walked closer to it, she ran a hoof over the polished metal. The armor was cool to the touch, she moved her hoof to the top of the helmet before pulling back. When Rainbow looked up she noticed a few photographs hanging on the wall. Rainbow whistled when she saw that all of the photos were of Rarity in different suits of armor. There were even pictures of Rarity as a young filly dressed in the dense suit of steel. Rainbow Dash chuckled as she looked at the young filly in the photo. “Wow Rares glare much?…Oh my gosh! No way!” shouted the excited pegasus. Rainbow gasped as she looked over at a recent photograph of Rarity. In fact Rarity was dressed in the sliver armor that Rainbow Dash admired just moments ago. Rainbow Dash never realized how menacing the white unicorn could be. Rarity was glaring daggers at the lens of the camera as the picture was being taken; Rainbow Dash understood Rarity's message loud and clear. * Don’t mess with me, if you want to live! * Rainbow Dash felt a chill run down her spine, she snorted to get a hold of herself. * Come on Dash, this is Rarity! The prissiest pony around, she isn’t scary. Sure she got loads of weapons and suits of armor big deal. For all I know she is just a super collector and likes to dress up in armor once in awhile…That all makes a lot more sense! OH MY CELESTIA WHAT IS THAT! * Rainbow’s eye had caught sight of a large trophy case, just past the suits of armor. Rainbow was at a loss of words had never seen that many trophies and medals in her whole life. The wooden and glass cabinet stretched all the way to the ceiling. Rainbow Dash fell on her hunches from the disbelief. As she began to read the titles of events that were etched on the variety of awards. Even Rainbow couldn’t help but read of the titles of Rarity’s awards out loud. “Running of the leaves champion; surfing, boxing champ, cage fighting, rugby, archery, knife throwing! Dang Rarity is more hard core than I thought. What! She is even a black belt oh come on! Is there anything she can’t do!” Feeling dejected after staring at all Rarity’s accomplishments. Rainbow grumbled to herself as she walked on to the next section of the room. Rainbow saw a large collection of fishing poles. There were over a dozen poles lined up against the wall. The wooden display was just a few planks of wood with holes drilled in them. The poles themselves were placed in the holes in the display to keep the collection from falling over. Above the poles was a variety of beautifully crafted fishing lures. Some of the lures were painted with vivid colors. They sparkled like little gems, in order to attract the eyes of the elusive fish. Near the ceiling Rainbow spotted a few large fish mounted to the walls. The trophies were probably fish that Rarity probably caught herself. This was confirmed when Rainbow spotted a few photographs of Rarity holding up her catch with her magic. Rainbow couldn’t help but giggle when she saw Rarity sporting a stereotypical fisher pony outfit. Just seeing Rarity in a pea green vest with a matching floppy hat. Over a dozen fishing flies sticking out every which way from her hat. Feeling in better spirits Rainbow walked over to a large book case. Rainbow almost didn’t give the book case a second glance. Even so, Rainbow wanted to distract herself, she looked over at the contents on the shelves. There were hundreds of movies lining the shelves, one of the titles caught her attention “The Slasher” this made her pause for a moment. *What is the bloodiest scary movie of all time doing here?* With Rainbow’s curiosity peaked she started reading the other titles of an array of films. The more titles she read the more she realized that every movie title she read was some sort of horror movie. Rainbow took to the air to read the titles on the higher shelves. As a result, Rainbow noticed that there was a large laminated label just above the top shelf. Reading it made Rainbow facehoof as she read it out loud. “Horror!...Well that would have saved me some time! Still finding out that Rarity loves collecting gory movies is super weird. I thought Rarity hated messes?” A shiver ran through Rainbow Dash as she pictured Rarity with a large amount of red on her white coat. While sporting a grin of maniac on her face didn’t help ease Rainbow's nerves. “Don’t worry Rainbow, Rarity was just crushing some tomatoes to make ketchup. She is just smiling like a crazy pony because her coat is covered in…juices!” Rainbow shook her head as the disturbing image began to fade from her mind. Rainbow nervously chuckled to herself for the ridiculous story she fabricated in her mind. The silliness of Rarity’s appearance made her feel better. She decided to move on to the next section of the large room. Hence, Rainbow saw a work table towards the center of the room. Shrugging her shoulders she walked over to it to get a better look. There were shelves with a variety of different colors of paint. Below the tubes and cans of paint were large black cases. The shelf under that was filled with a few different types of molds. Consequently, Rainbow also spotted a few tubs of different chemicals. Rainbow opened up one of the large black cases. Her eyes shrank to the size of pin pricks. As she backed away from the contents of the black case. Her heart was pounding in her chest, as she stared at the section of pony flesh resting in the top of the case. Rainbow Dash couldn’t tear her eyes away from the square, piece of flesh with the cutie mark of a fishing pole. > Exposed > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was no question, Rarity had some pony’s cutie mark laying in a case. Through an act of will power. Rainbow picked up the small patch of pony flesh in her hooves. Everything in her mind was screaming at her to run the heck out of that room. And get the royal guards here as soon as possible. As Rainbow inspected the patch of flesh. The longer held the small patch of fur the more she doubted it was even real. Sure, it looked like real flesh the white fur and cutie mark felt real enough. But underneath the patch of fur it felt almost rubbery. Rainbow Dash flipped over the piece of pony flank in her hooves. “Hey wait a minute! This isn’t pony flesh…it’s just a prosthetic cutie mark! Like the kind they use for special effects in the movies! Darn it Rarity! I was just about to have a heart attack! Wait, why does Rarity even have a fake cutie mark?” Rainbow looked down into the case, she saw a variety of different cutie marks. Just underneath the one she was currently holding. There was one with a surfboard on it, another was a knife. Rainbow put back the fake cutie mark back in it’s case. The whole thing left Rainbow scratching her head with her hoof. Rainbow decided to move on to the other side of the room. She knew that the disturbing cutie mark collection was a mystery that would have to wait. There was only two sections of the room was left to explore. Rainbow saw that there was a rather large wall of framed photographs. She decided that she would look over at the photographs first. Then look over the end of the room that was sectioned off by the large purple curtains. * I will save the best for last, I hope it isn’t something extra creepy like the last section! I’ll just take a look at these photos real quick. * Rainbow walked up the wall was lined with hundreds of photos of Rarity. Rainbow Dash’s jaw dropped. After she spotted a picture of Rarity rolling around in the mud puddle during a rainstorm with a smile on her face. Rainbow gawked at one photo to the next. Rainbow guessed that Rarity must have run out of room to hang her photos. And this was just the overflow wall. There was no way Rarity would put these kind of photographs in her house up stairs. Surprisingly, a lot of the photographs are of Rarity doing either a very messy activity or some kind of extreme competition. Rainbow Dash’s favorite picture. Was the one with Rarity dressed in an artist smock while painting on a canvas. Rarity was covered in so many different colored blobs of paint. “Ha! Looks like I’m not the only rainbow pony!” snickered Rainbow. Once, she had her fill of the eye opening/amazing photographs. Rainbow made her way to the purple curtains. She slowly raised her hoof to pull back the dark purple curtains. Rainbow couldn’t see anything in the dark enclosure. Taking a deep breath as she walked into the purple dungeon. As soon as Rainbow walked through the curtain; there was a flash of light illuminating the makeshift room. Shielding her eyes with a hoof to protect her eyes from the blinding light. Rainbow figured there were some motion sensitive lights installed in this section of the room. After blinking a few times her eyes finally adjusted to the brightness of the room. Rainbow Dash fell on her haunches. She quickly rubbed her eyes with her hooves to make sure she wasn’t seeing things. Just beyond the curtains was the largest collection of Wonderbolt memorabilia Rainbow had ever seen. Framed autographed posters lined the walls. Glass cases that held countless Wonderbolt artifacts. There was even a large collection of mannequins dressed in Wonderbolt uniforms. There were a handful of dressed mannequins behind glass in a large display case. Rainbow got a closer look at the uniforms in the case. She couldn’t believe her eyes, these were authentic, original, uniforms. Rainbow thought back to the time Rarity tried to help her study for her Wonderbolt exam. She always wondered how Rarity could whip up all of those Wonderbolt uniforms so fast. *Rarity used her own private collection of Wonderbolt uniforms just to help me study! I can’t believe she let Pinkie Pie wear an original Wonderbolt uniform! I mean these things are worth more than my house for crying out loud!* Rainbow found herself lost in Rarity’s museum quality Wonderbolt collection. After she drooled over everything in sight. A small glass case on a pedestal caught her attention. With her eyes bulging from disbelief, she saw a large collection of metals that were earned by Colonel Purple Dart. Purple Dart had earned the largest number of metals in Wonderbolt history. Rarity had placed the medals in chronological order of when the Colonel had earned them. Rainbow felt her heart skip a beat when she saw a blank spot in the case. Rainbow knew first hoof why there was a empty slot in Rarity’s collection. Rainbow’s great grandfather gave her that specific medal. After he learned that she wanted to be a Wonderbolt. Her great grandfather was a close friend to Purple Dart. After Purple Dart retired he personally gave her grandfather one of his medals. The gift was a symbol for their friendship. Rainbow kept the medal in a metal safe in the deepest recesses in her closet. Not only was that medal a precious relic it also was extremely valuable and important. But the meaning behind the gift meant more to Rainbow than it’s value. It was also very sentimental to her. * I can’t believe I’m the reason that Rarity’s collection is incomplete. In a strange way it feels like a crime that my medal has been separated from it’s family….Wow I’m starting to sound like Fluttershy! * Rainbow was deep in the thought about medals, her great grandpa and her friends. She didn’t even notice that was Rarity standing right behind her. “Are you enjoying the museum?” Without even thinking Rainbow Dash replied to the sudden question. “ You bet I am! This place is AWESOME!…Oh no!” Rainbow spun around so fast that she almost fell over. she shrank back slightly when she saw Rarity glaring daggers at her. “Oh no, is right! You are only trespassing on my most private sanctuary! No pony can ever see this place! If they did then my reputation would be ruined!” Angry tears flooded Rarity’s eyes as she glared at Rainbow Dash. “What are you talking about? Everypony would love this place! I mean the awesomeness is just oozing from th-” “You just don’t get it do you! If anyone found this place they would know that everything I have done is a lie! Don’t you get it Rainbow DASH! I’m a sham, a phony, a big old fraud!” “What are you saying?…” Rarity let out an exasperated sigh. “What I’m saying is that I’m not some stuck up, want to be Canterlot snob. My whole proper lady bit, is just that! A facade, that’s not who I really am. I’m actually just an athletic tom-colt that also loves fashion!” Rainbow stood in silence while her brain tried absorb all of this new information. She thought back to every memory of the fashionista. The Rarity she knew was just a fake. For the very first time, the real Rarity stood before her. The whole thing was very unsettling. Rainbow started to feel anger slowly bubbling to the surface. “Why did you lie to everyone Rarity? Why would you lie to all of us?” Rainbow Dash felt her voice shake slightly. “ Because it is my destiny! It’s my cursed talent that I was thrusted into the world of the prim and proper. I had no choice, I learned a long time ago that a tom-colt designer could never be successful! Soon after I received my cutie mark...I started to fabricated this facade of lady Rarity, clean Rarity, proper Rarity. But it wasn’t enough! I still had other talents such as fighting, sports competitions, painting and anything else that requires one to get down and dirty.” “I don’t believe it! You mean to tell me that all of the dangerous missions we went on you could have fought! You could have defended us this whole TIME!” Rarity stomped her hoof in defense, her eyes narrowed in on the cyan pegasus in front of her. “I only held back because, I knew all of you could take care of yourselves. If I jumped in the fray every single time, then none of you would have gotten stronger. If I saved the day constantly. Twilight may have ever never gotten the chance to be a princess. Fluttershy would have never stood up to that dragon if I interfered. ” Rainbow Dash nostrils flared, she could feel her angry blurring her vision. “Or you just let us save your sorry flank just so you could keep your precious little secret! Rarity…if that’s even your real name? Face it you only cared about yourself and your dirty little secret. Obviously your friend’s lives are not as important as keeping your secret life-” Before Rainbow could even finish her sentence she was tackled to the ground. Rarity had pinned her down. While holding Rainbow in a choke hold. Rainbow Dash tired to break free but it was no use. Her eye caught sight of the slightly bulging muscles underneath Rarity’s white coat. “Now you listen to me Rain-bow Dash!” huffed the enraged unicorn. Rarity made sure to drag out her name before she continued. “I don’t ever want to hear you accuse me of not caring about the lives of our friends! It is true, I’m a liar and a phony! But I never, faked my bonds with you or the others. I might be a good actress; but I could never fake how much I love each and everyone of my friends.” In a fit of pure anger, Rainbow head butted Rarity with all the force she could muster. Slamming the back of her head into Rarity’s snout. The jarring pain made Rarity loosen her grip on Rainbow Dash. With a quick shove, Rainbow broke free. A small trickle of blood drizzled from Rarity’s muzzle. With her nostrils flared Rainbow pawed at the ground with her hoof. Her shoulders were hunched while she leaned forward, giving Rarity the universal sign of a pony scrapping for a fight. Rarity whipped the blood from her muzzle with the back of her hoof, she narrowed her gaze. “You don’t want to fight me Rainbow Dash. I have the same amount of training as the royal guard.” Rainbow rolled her eyes. “Everypony knows that the royal guards are a joke! I can take you on! You only won our last tussle because you surprised me!” “If you want a fight, then let us move to a different section…It’s pretty crowded in here.” Without a word Rainbow moved to the center of the room, she turned to glare at Rarity. The angry unicorn used her magic to moved all of her things out of the way for their fight. Once, Rarity cut off her magic she hardened her stare. Rainbow Dash stomped her hoof on the ground in response. “What are the rules? Wings or no wings, I don’t want to be called a cheater.” sneered Rainbow. Rarity held onto her poker face due to her many years of training. “You can use your wings, not that it would matter. This is an anything goes fight. The first pony to pin the other for three seconds wins. To make it a fair fight, I won’t be using my magic.” huffed Rarity. Rainbow snorted loudly, she knew Rarity was going to fight handicapped. Which made her even more enraged. Knowing that Rarity didn’t consider her a threat. “If you're not going to use your magic then I’m not gonna use my wings!” Rarity closed her eyes as she took a deep breath, Rarity’s voice was cool and even like deadly ice. “ The only way you even have the smallest chance of winning, is you having the intent to kill me…” Rainbow was stunned by Rarity’s shocking statement, she was starting to think that this fight evolved into something more serious. Rarity saw that Rainbow was stunned by her words. Rarity saw this as her chance to end the fight with a quick tackle. Just like the last time. Rarity charged Rainbow with a burst of speed. Rarity rammed right into Rainbow Dash’s side. The hit knocked the air right out of Rainbow’s lungs, she wheezed as she laid on the floor. Rarity just stood over Rainbow’s body with a menacing smirk. “It that all you got Rainbow darling?” sarcasm coated Rarity’s words. Rarity was now just toying with Rainbow Dash. Deep down Rarity always secretly wanted to compete and even have a good sparring match with her rainbow maned friend. Now that one of her many fantasies had come to pass. Rarity didn’t expect things would be this easy. She hopped that Rainbow Dash would give her more of a challenge. Rarity was happy when she saw her mocking must have struck a nerve in the blue pegasus. Rarity didn’t want to be outright mean, she just wanted Rainbow Dash to fight at her full potential. Once, Rainbow recovered she darted at Rarity. Raising her right fore hoof as she tried to punch Rarity in the muzzle. Stepping to the side, Rarity easily blocked the blow with her hoof. Now locked together, Rainbow flashed Rarity a quick smile before she kicked Rarity’s barrel with her hind leg. The blow threw Rarity off balance for just a second. That was all Rainbow needed, she body slammed Rarity to the ground. With a smug grin Rainbow pinned down the white unicorn. As Rainbow sat on Rarity’s chest while holding down Rarity’s fore hooves. Rarity closed her eyes as Rainbow began to count. “One…Two-” Taking in a deep breath Rarity tried to clear her mind. She could feel Rainbow’s heart beating through her coat. Everything seemed to slow down, between Rainbow’s heart beats. Rarity’s eyes snapped open, she focused all of her energy onto her hind legs. “Thre-” Rainbow was launched into the air from the sear power of Rarity‘s kick. Before she could finish counting. Rarity had managed to push the smug pegasus off of herself just in the nick of time. While Rainbow Dash flailed in the air Rarity was already up on her hooves. Rarity crouched down like a cat getting ready to pounce on a bird. Rainbow crashed onto the hard floor. Rarity wasted no time a she jumped right on top Rainbow’s back. Rarity held down Rainbow’s head while she pinned down one of Rainbow’s fore hooves behind her back. Rarity began her count, she drawled it out giving Rainbow Dash a small window to escape. “One…Two……Three…” A faint smile graced Rarity’s alabaster lips. “Looks like I win, How about we discuss this whole thing over a nice cup of tea. A cup of tea sounds lovely right about now. Don’t you think so Rainbow Dash?” Rarity let go of Rainbow as she fox-trotted towards the exit; expecting Rainbow Dash to follow her out. Rainbow Dash glared at Rarity, she was so angry that she had been lied to this entire time they were friends. Rainbow Dash didn’t know what made her more angry. The lying or the fact that she was just beaten up by the prissiest sissy pony she ever known. In a fit of rage Rainbow Dash charged at Rarity while her back was turned. The sudden sound of galloping hooves made Rarity’s ear swivel. Rarity leaped into the air just before Rainbow could ram into her. Rarity then landed right on top of Rainbow‘s back. The next thing Rainbow knew was that she was pinned once again. She felt something cold and slick against her neck, she looked down seeing that Rarity had a knife pressed up against her neck. It was in that moment that Rainbow realized that she was no match for the unicorn. For the first time Rainbow Dash’s life, she felt a genuine fear of dying. Rainbow looked into Rarity’s eyes, they were intense and fierce. “Don’t ever charge at me from behind!” growled Rarity while she pressed the cool blade a little closer to her neck. > Confessions > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Don’t ever charge at me from behind!” Growled Rarity while she pressed the cool blade a little closer to Rainbow Dash’s neck. After a few tense seconds, a faint whimper escaped from Rainbow Dash‘s muzzle. The small sound snapped Rarity out of combat mode, tears over flowed from her sapphire eyes. Releasing her magical grip on the knife it clattered to the floor. Rarity stepped a few hoof steps away from Rainbow Dash, a hoarse whisper fell from her lips. “I’m so sorry…I’m sorry…I’m sorry…” Said Rarity as she mumbled out the words. In her shock Rarity crumbled to the floor, covering her eyes with her fore hooves as she began to sob. As the seconds ticked by Rainbow Dash stood up on her hooves once more. She looked down at the mass of blubbering unicorn just a few hoof steps away. An array of conflicting emotions surfaced as she stared at the sobbing pony. Rainbow Dash felt a strange combination of fear, anger, sadness, pity and compassion. Just a minute ago her friend just held a knife to her neck; a freaking real, sharp blade to her neck! And yet she couldn’t help feeling bad, it was her fault for putting herself in that situation in the first place. Going against her survival instincts, Rainbow Dash placed a gentle hoof on Rarity’s left shoulder. The contact made Rarity flinch at first but the feeling soon passed when she realized that she wasn’t in danger. A shy smile tugged at Rainbow’s cyan lips, the small gesture stopped Rarity’s tears in their tracks. “It’s ok Rarity, I’m not going to tackle you anymore.” Said Rainbow Dash with a nervous chuckle. Rarity just nodded her head in response, she didn’t trust herself to do anything else. Rainbow Dash helped Rarity off of the floor, Rainbow Dash even made sure to be the first one to leave Rarity’s secret room. Slowly trailing behind Rainbow Dash, Rarity levitated her large diary while she shut the door behind her. Mindlessly, Rarity set down the leather book in front of Rainbow Dash on the coffee table. Without a word Rarity went into the kitchen to prepare tea and sandwiches for the two of them. Rainbow Dash just sat in silence while she waited. After a few minutes or so Rarity levitated a tray with the tea and snacks in front of Rainbow Dash. Quietly, Rarity served Rainbow Dash and then herself. With trembling hooves Rarity sipped her tea, the warm liquid ran down her throat causing her to relax somewhat. Rarity’s blue eyes darted over to the large red book. She thought that Rainbow Dash would have looked in it by now. Not like she cared anymore, Rainbow Dash already knew her deepest darkest secret what’s a few more. Rainbow Dash shifted on her pillow; while she tired to think of questions she should ask but none of them seemed right. She decided to go with the question that bothered her the most. “So Rarity, I’m sorry I jumped you back there…But I gotta know, why did you go all psycho on me?” As the words flowed from her mouth Rainbow Dash sucked in a large breath as of she tired to suck the words right out of the air. *Oh horse apples that came out wrong!* “Um I didn’t mean-” Stuttered the blue pegasus. Rarity raised up her hoof to silence her, Rainbow Dash froze she was worried that she just crossed the line. “Your right you know, I did go all…psycho. I’m truly sorry that I scared you. I just…. can’t stand ponies charging me from behind. When you came at me I slipped back into combat mode. I know that it is no excuse but that is what happened.” “But I have seen Pinkie Pie grabbed and hug you from behind. You never put her in a head lock!” A empty smile stretched across the unicorn’s muzzle. “Not putting Pinkie Pie in a headlock is one of my greatest achievements. It takes everything I have just to act casual whenever, I am hugged from behind in public….” Rarity’s eyes shifted around the table before she stared into Rainbow Dash’s rosy magenta eyes. “Do you know why I wear my mane off to the side Rainbow Dash?” Rainbow Dash was slightly surprised by the sudden change in topic, she just shook her head. “No, I don’t.” Without a single word Rarity pushed aside her indigo curls, exposing her alabaster neck. After a moment of staring Rainbow Dash’s eyes fell on a rather large scar that was about three inches long. A chill made the fur on the back of Rainbow’s neck stand on end. “What happened Rarity?” Rainbow Dash wasn’t a fool she could tell by the clean edge of the scar that it was a blade that had cut into Rarity’s flesh. Releasing her grip on her mane her it bounce back into place. “ It’s kind of a long story, but I have no problem telling it. That is if you are up for it?” “You know I love a good story! Fire away!” Rainbow Dash exclaimed with enthusiasm. “Well, when I was just a filly I was in training to become a royal guard. I was also the best cadet in my class in Canterlot. Not only was I the best in my class I was also the only filly in training at the time. It didn’t take long for the other colts to hate my guts. I guess, constantly being beaten by a little filly didn’t help their egos.” Rainbow Dash snorted in agitation. “It’s not your fault you were so awesome!” Rarity couldn’t help but smile at her friend’s remark. “ After a while I gained a rival his name was Thunder Clap.” “That guy sounds like a total jerk-wad!” Rarity raised an eyebrow at that last remark, seeing Rainbow Dash outburst made her smile a little bigger. “Anyway, one day Thunder Clap was fed up with me constantly outshining him. I was facing off against Thunder Clap in a sword duel. The duel it’s self is the most taxing part. We use a special spell to levitate the sword but we also use two other spells. One spell is a safe guard to keep us from cutting our sparing partner to pieces. The other is a spell to cushion the blow of a hit so we don‘t break any bones. As you can imagine, fueling three spells at once is the extremely difficult. Most duels end when someone faints from over exerting their magic. The other way to end a duel is to strike your opponent three times with your blade.” Rainbow Dash stared at Rarity with wide eyes as she listened to the extreme endeavors of Rarity’s youth. “After I defeated Thunder Clap in a sword duel, he had collapsed from magical fatigue. As I turned my back to leave the arena. Thunder Clap used the last of his magic to stab me in the back of my neck…Never again did I ever come that close to death. If the instructor haven’t been there I would be dead. Even after he healed my wounds I was never the same after that. I don’t ever turn back on an enemy, foe or even a friend until today that is.” Rainbow Dash gaped at the unicorn in front of her, she couldn’t believe her ears. She was filled with awe and a bubbling anger every time she thought about Thunder Clap. “So what happened to Thunder Clap? Was he punished or kicked out?” Rarity nodded “Yes, he was kicked out of school after that. Thunder Clap claimed that he didn’t mean to stab me. He said that he only meant to whack me in the back of the head but didn’t realize that he didn’t have enough magic for the safeguard. As you could imagine that didn’t help his case.” Opening the diary with her magic, Rarity flipped to a page with an old photo of her and her classmates. Rainbow easily spotted Rarity in the photo she was the only filly after all. Rarity was surrounded by colts that were dressed in armor. Pointing a white hoof at a young colt in armor, Rainbow Dash leaned a little closer to the large book. “There’s Thunder Clap, he was a true delight.” Rarity’s words oozed with a good dose of sarcasm. Rainbow Dash just glared at the young colt in the photo she saw that he had a white coat with a dark blue mane. The most striking feature was his dark purple eyes. Rarity stared at the small filly in the photo just a few more moments before she shook her head. “So after the incident, I had to go to a lot of therapy. I had developed a fear of being out in the open and large crowds. I was afraid that somepony might jump out at me and stab me again. But after a few months of intense training and therapy I was able to get over my fears. Today was the first time in years that I have relapsed…I’m so sorry Rainbow Dash.” Rainbow Dash waved a hoof “Pssh don’t worry about it Rares, I understand. Anyways, I learned my lesson. I still want to hear about how all of this started you know. How did this awesome pony turn into such a….-” “Phony.” said Rarity, she knew Rainbow Dash was just being nice and dancing around the issue. “Um, yeah that! How did all of this start? Glancing out the window, Rarity noticed that Celestia had already lowered the sun. Seeing it was dark out she turned back towards Rainbow Dash. “I think it might take me a few days maybe weeks or months…I still have many dresses to work on. Maybe if you came by tomorrow I could at least start my tale I suppose.” “Sounds good to me! I’m actually really excited to hear what happened! But I’m not going to lie I am still a little miffed that you hid the fact that you are super amazingly awesome pony and never bothered to tell me!” “At least me being cool, is making this whole lying thing a little easier to swallow. It is getting late, I shall see you around 3:00pm sharp!” “You bet! See you later Rarity!” After Rainbow Dash darted out the nearest exit Rarity’s ears dropped as she thought back on the days events. *Everything was going so well! I won the knife throwing contest, I sliced right threw the last tomato in record time! Those tough talking stallions didn’t know what hit them! Now Rainbow Dash knows my secret, all because I was careless. It won’t be long now, before the rest of Equestria knows my secret. Celestia knows that will cause my sales to drop and my reputation will be tarnished. Oh well no biggie it’s not like reputation is that important in the fashion world! * Grabbing her diary with her magic, she went up stairs to her bedroom. Setting down the large book on her dresser. It didn’t take her long to get ready for bed. As soon as she slipped on her night mask, she began to drift off to sleep.
