She wanted to be sure that nopony could possibly see into her home. "Here, Angel, it's time to for our special-snuggles," she whispered as loudly as she could. Angel poked his twitching nose out from under a pillow on his large, overstuffed bed in the corner. He took a couple of slow hops towards Fluttershy while still blinking away the sleep in his eyes, then he stopped short, scrunched up his nose, and squinted at the smiling pegasus. "Come here, Angel. Don't you want your snuggles?" she asked as she laid down on the couch and patted the cushions softly. Her smile was a little crooked and a blush rose to her soft yellow cheeks. Angel sat up on his hind legs and turned his head to the side and looked at an empty space on the cottage wall. "Oh, now, Angel, sweety, don't be like that. I know I was promised to snuggle you yesterday, but a timber-wolf escaped from the Manehatten zoo and everyone needed my help. Angel glared at her a moment, stomped his right foot twice and then once more after a pause, with a bit more weight. "Okay. Okay. I know. I was gone three days, but I made sure that Apple Bloom came and checked on you. She said that you two had a lot of fun. Are you saying," Fluttershy let out a tiny gasp and then continued, "that she fibbed to me?" Angel's shoulders slumped and he shook his head no then kicked at a bit of nothing on the ground in front of him. He leaned forward again and pretended to examine his paws was stretching out on the floor. "I know you're upset, because it seems like I don't have as much time for you as I used to... I really... I really am sorry, but my Pony friends need me too and I can't just ignore them when they ask for my help..." Angel looked up at her. Fluttershy's lower lip quivered, she pushed at the pillow absentmindedly, and wriggled around as she battled with her conflicted thoughts. Angel looked around the room while trying to hold onto his anger, but he could feel it uncoiling from around his heart, slowly, inexorably, he felt the anger replaced with concern and shame. He brought his front paws up to his face and pretended he was cleaning himself for a moment, to hide the light blush on his cheeks. "Oh... oh dear.. Do- do you not like me anymore? I mean, I guess I can understand. Leaving you home all the time, you must think I'm a terrible pony. If you want me to find somepony else for you to... to..." Fluttershy choked on the words she was trying to force out through the lump in her throat. Angel tried to hold back, but he hadn't meant for her to cry. Those tears threatening to slide down her gentle face sent a shock through his legs and he felt himself leaping forward before he had finished deciding to move. Three bounds took him across the tiny livingroom, then one more into the air while spinning around and he landed curled up next to Fluttershy. He pressed his nose up under her lowered chin and nuzzled into the warm, soft fur of her neck, pushing her chin back up. Fluttershy giggled and wrapped her forelegs around the tiny white rabbit, pulling him close and giving the top of his fuzzy head a kiss so gentle it felt like a memory of a breeze to Angel. Fluttershy hummed, so softly that it was more of a vibration in her chest that Angel felt, rather than a sound, but he could remember the first time he heard and felt it. The memories were fuzzy, there wasn't a single edge of detail in them, but they were there. It was dark and cold, colder than any other time in his life. There was the sound of rain and drops, so heavy and hard, they had felt like stones. Then he was in the air for a moment, he had wanted to panic, but then he was in the middle of something soft, warm, and holding him tight. A tiny vibration, just to the left of a proper sound, worked it's way into him. It was the first time he remembered feeling loved. Later he learned that Fluttershy had tucked him under one of her wings and taken him home, humming the entire time. He'd fallen asleep under her wing before she got home. When he woke up, it was on a soft bed and the first things he saw were her always gentle eyes. She'd been singing to him, feeding him, caring for him, for days, until his fever broke. For him, she was all the kindness in the world. "You forgive me, Angel Bunny?" Fluttershy asked while rubbing Angel's soft belly. Angel batted away her hoof and glared at her a moment, pouting. Fluttershy looked down at Angel and smiled. She was familiar with this little game of his. She looked towards the kitchen and pretended to be unconcerned with his attempt to vex her. "Well, in that case, I guess I'd better stop snuggling you and go make din-" Angel leaped up from his lounging position and threw himself across the pegasus, wrapping his tiny forelegs around her and pressing his face deep into her soft fur. He wiggled his entire body around for a moment and then curled up as small as he could without letting her go. "Well then. I'll take that as a sign that you do forgive me." Angel could hear the smile in her voice. "I guess we can snuggle for a little longer before dinner." Angel felt the vibration of her hum slowly grow and then her voice finally became just loud enough to hear. Hush little bunny don't you fear Fluttershy has you She'll keep you near You just stay close and warm no need to worry about the storm Hush little bunny so near my heart stay close and warm and never part Fluttershy kissed Angel softly on the cheek, taking care not to wake the tiny rabbit. "Maybe I can find a way to take you on my next adventure." She whispered before closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep as well.
