> Pinkie and the Party Killer > by WishSeeker > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > We got a party to plan > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I can't believe I'm planning Twi's anniversary for becoming a princess!" Pinkie cried, "I've always wanted to plan a princess party for a real princess, and not only that but its our own Princess, Twilight's party and I'm so excited I could just explode!". Pinkie gasped for air while bouncing on the spot just like a pogo stick, her hair brushing the rafters of Sugarcube Corner. Twilight focused her horn glowing with magic, her purple aura stopped Pinkie in mid jump, "Pinkie, I know your excited but this is a big responsibility, are you sure you're up to this? You only have a week to prepare." Pinkie landed and quickly wrapped her foreleg around her friend's neck "Twilight, parties are like cakes, when there's a problem throw loads of them at it, or would it be cakeloads and why not muffins too." "Wait, what?" Twilight's focus was more on how in Equestria Pinkie had escaped her magic than what the pony was saying. "I've got this in the bag, the party bag! Don't worry, Twilight, I wouldn't let a party or you, down." Pinkie's face widened with a grin, but it was met with a confused look from Twilight. "I trust you can do this, but please Pinkie, don't push yourself too far. Now I need to go see Rarity about my dress, so i am leaving it in your capable hands." Twilight turned away from Pinkie who was now stuffing two muffins into her mouth, she began to head for the exit. "You can count on Pinkie!" Pinkie replied as Twilight walked out. "come on, Gummy, we got a party to plan–" Pinkie suddenly jerked at an odor almost as bad as rotten apples " –eww, but first somegator needs a bath." Pinkie gulped the last muffin down and picked her prized pet up in her mouth; resisting the urge to spit the stinky alligator out across the room she bounced out and raced home as quick as ponily possible. After an hour full of bathing a gator, throwing a mini 'clean gator party' and cleaning up after a mini 'clean gator party' the moon had risen; Pinkie found herself at her party planning desk, her now clean pet attempting to chew a pen. "Hmm, I need a party that'll wow Everpony. Gummy do you have any ideas?" The gator replied with a blank stare, "That's genius, why didn't I think of that." Pinkie pulled the pen from Gummy's pearly pinks and began writing frantically. "This party is going to be amazing!" Even as tired as Pinkie Pie felt she found herself scribbling and bouncing around the room for hours, Gummy simply stared on as his pink owner worked. That is the life of the pet alligator to simply stare at the one who keeps him fed, to wait for the day he is called upon again to dare danger and save the world as Gum Gator but unfortunately this is not his tale. Pinkie made notes and charts on everything from cake and music ratios to an emergency plan in case Fluttershy turned out to be a changeling planning to destroy Ponyville ( well she couldn't take chances since the 'wedding incident'). Once Pinkie had finally finished she collapsed on her desk into a deep sleep; dreams full of dancing, parties and cake filled her mind. Pinkie awoke in a daze; partially to the morning sunlight hitting her face, but mostly to the drool dripping from her favourite alligator. "Is it morning already?" Her mouth widened as a yawn slipped past. Barely able to pull her eyes apart Pinkie dragged herself from her desk. Before she had fully gotten her bearings a sudden realization shook her to the core. "Gummy, please tell me you saw my party plan?" Gummy's eyes circled while his lengthy tongue licked his snout. "It's okay, it's okay. Don't panic, Gummy I said don't panic!" Pinkie's breath was lost in a sea of words, she found herself scavenging hopelessly as tears began forming in her eyes. "I can just write a new plan or maybe the old one will appear or maybe I'll remember the old one and write it up again, oh what am I going to do!?" Pinkie ended her search fruitless, her mind lost in desperate thoughts. She tried to find an answer to what happened or a way to solve this. "If only I had made a copy." A spark flashed behind her eyes. "Oh yeah, That's right I made a spare copy. Just like I always do, silly me." Pinkie quickly calmed from her previous calamity. "I think I put it in my back-up drawer." As if the panic from before never happened in the first place she bounced to the back of the room and pulled open a drawer in an old cabinet. "P, Partay parties, Pineapple parties, Piranha parties, Poker parties, Post-apocalyptic parties, Prank parties, Predator parties. Ah here we are Princess parties, Princess Twilights anniversary party - back-up copy," A sigh of relief fell from Pinkies mouth, "Thank Celestia." Pinkie let out a hum of curiosity. "I've never had to use a back-up copy before, but it can't be much different." She had realised a few years ago that having spares would be important. She lost Applejack's birthday plan, the whole thing was a mess but since then she had never been in such a predicament. Pinkie knew that finding out what had actually happened to the original plan would have to wait. She had a party to plan and a minor setback like this wouldn't stop Ponyville's own super party pony. > Pinkie Pie P.I > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Oh, the horror! The horror!" A mare screamed from Ponyville's florist, Pinkie avoided a raspberry maned mare who came dashing out of the shop. "Hey! Rose what's going on?" Rose continued to gallop away teary eyed and completely oblivious to Pinkie's question. Shrugging it off, Pinkie bounced into the shop. "Who would do this?" A bright magenta pony was rolling on the floor of the shop, surrounded by destroyed flowers. Pinkie barely noticed the pony before tripping over her. "Oh hey Daisy, what's wrong?" Sniffing between words, Daisy replied, " All the beautiful flowers, for the Princess' anniversary, have been trampled, all of them!" Tears filled Daisy's eyes. "But don't you have any other flowers for the party?" Pinkie questioned anxiously. "No, we already prepared the best and now..." she waved her hoof towards the piles of petals and broken stems. Pinkie took a step back to process it. "Who did this?" Pinkie glared at Daisy, her eyes both angry and confused. "A terrible pony, Lily said she saw a pony creeping around the shop last night, but couldn't see who it was," Daisy stood up as she continued, "Lily is too upset to talk to anypony now, and you saw Rose, I'm sorry Pinkie but we won't be able to fill the order." Shock struck Pinkie, she was paralyzed, her plan was in jeopardy. It took her several minutes of silence between the two mares before she spoke, "The party must happen, Daisy, please I'll pay any amount of bits, you have to have some flowers somewhere!" "Well, I have a few very special and well grown Daisies I was saving, and I think I might be able to persuade Rose to give up some of her special stash," Daisy replied, "but it will cost you triple the original price." "I'll pay! Anything for Twilight's special day." "Ok Pinkie, I think we can make more food for the party, but it will cost more to get the ingredients ready." The yellow skinny stallion looked guilty over asking for more money over this. "It's ok, I'll pay extra Mr. Cake." She pulled a large bag of bits from her mane and left it on the counter as she walked out. She couldn't keep doing this. It was day four and the organising was going terrible; she lost the original plans leaving her with only the emergency copy, the flowers were destroyed so she had to persuade Daisy to help, the venue had to be changed from the town hall to sugar cube corner, Octavia was called to Manehattan for the audition of a lifetime leaving only Vinyl Scratch to 'DJ' the event, now all the food had disappeared and worst of all she was down a lot of bits. Pinkie was almost sure somepony was setting these things up, somepony was trying to ruin the party and Pinkie Pie wasn't going to let that happen. That's why she called her friends to meet at Rarity's boutique, a discreet location for a discreet conversation. As Pinkie trotted towards Rarity's place she spotted Applejack speaking with Rainbow. There was a second before the two would notice the bright pink pony, she jumped behind a wall, within earshot. "don't understand why Pinkie would want us to meet at Rarity's, what do you think AJ." "Ah don't know, but we'll find out when we get there. Just you do the talking if she asks about us." "I sure hope she didn't see us, I do feel guilty about it." The two trotted off into the distance. "I'm intrigued." Pinkie followed them discretely, her eyes narrowed on the silhouettes of the two ponyies ahead of her. As the boutique rose upon the horizon Pinkie noticed Fluttershy, she seemed to be hovering behind the shop with what looked like a package. Pinkie approached Fluttershy very cautiously, she didn't want to startle her. Pinkie watched as her friend passed the package through a small window of the boutique while whispering something, a quiet voice replied through the hole but Pinkie was too far to hear. Before Fluttershy was finished Pinkie slipped away to the front of the boutique, as to avoid detection. Something was fishy, and it would be fishier if they were underwater. "You ok, sugarcube." Applejack's voice caused Pinky to jump. "What's the matter Pinks," added rainbow, "you look like you walked into a brick wall." Pinkie nervously replied to the other two ponies, "nothing, we should head in." At that moment Twilight appeared before the trio. "How come you can do that Twi, but Princess Celestia still has to be pulled by chariot everywhere?" Rainbow imposed. "Well, that's not true, as far as I know Princess Celestia is perfectly capable of teleportation magic, I suppose she chooses not to use it often." Twilight knocked on Rarity's door as Fluttershy discretely hovered from behind the back of the boutique. The door opened to reveal a tired Rarity, her mane was a mess and her glasses hung awkwardly across her face. "Sorry, I must look a mess, I was up all night designing dresses for the party, it seemed I misplaced the original wardrobe and I have no idea where it is." Rarity invited everyone in with a hoof, she gave a slight nod to Fluttershy that only they and Pinkie picked up on. "So what was so urgent and private that you had to invite everypony to my boutique." "As you all know, I have been having trouble in preparing Twilight's anniversary, well I think somepony has been interrupting the plans." "who would want to ruin this party?" Rainbow asked. "I don't know but I will find out, I am taking authority over the matter," Pinkie continued, " it could be anypony, even any of you." The ponies stared at each other confused but all thinking alike. Applejack spoke first, "any of us, that's just crazy!" Pinkie narrowed her eyes at Applejack, she began the questioning, "Is it really, then what were you and Rainbow talking about earlier?" Rainbow jumped in before Applejack responded, "We don't have to say anything." "So there is something to say, then if you want me to believe you weren't involved tell me the truth." Pinkie knew she was winning this battle and was prepared for the admission of their part in the whole thing. Rainbow began to step forward but Applejack's hoof blocked her path, "Ah'll say it Rainbow, I kissed Rainbow, she wasn't as interested as me, that's it ok." Her cheeks could've given Big Mac a run for his bits. Pinkie looked down in shame, she tried to apologise, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to –" Applejack butted in, "It's ok, just don't talk about it." "Well then, If we are done Pinkie?" Rarity scorned at Pinkie, "Can I go to bed?" "Ok so it wasn't Applejack or Rainbow Dash, what was Fluttershy handing you through the window?" Fluttershy Squeaked in fear, Rarity spoke for her, "What Fluttershy does in her private time is her own business!" "No, Rarity, I'm sorry. I ask Rarity for materials and then I help her make dresses," Fluttershy admitted, her eyes watering and her head low, "I don't want people to know it's my work. Could you imagine the amount of requests for dresses I would get." "You should stop hiding your talents dear," Rarity tried to comfort Fluttershy, " you are extremely talented." Pinkie was defeated, a coat of guilt and shame fell over her, what could she say. In two minutes she had upset and embarrassed two of her closest friends and most likely angered the rest. "Look, Pinkie I know you're desperate, I shouldn't have asked you to do this, it's my fault." Twilight had picked up on how Pinkie felt and wasn't going to watch as she ruins her friendships. "Look can't we all just get along, I know Pinkie's sorry, but your secrets are safe. I don't think any of us would betray another's trust." "Ah, guess so," An embarrassed Applejack replied, "so long as y'all keep this safe." "I agree." Rarity spoke for Fluttershy as the yellow Pegasus was mute. "Good, now since we have been honest, I have something to admit." Twilight stopped to catch her breath her eyes focused on Pinkie and her body shaking. Pinkie looked back, she realised what was about to be said, anger rose into her face. Twilight finally spoke, "It was me." > Aftermath > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight felt bad, worse than bad. She drove a wedge between her friends and she knew it would happen. Why did she choose Pinkie of anypony who could plan the party. After that day Pinkie went into solitude. The others were angry at Twilight too but the trust she betrayed between her and Pinkie was damaging and painful to both ponies. Twilight didn't know what to say to her friend or how to explain why she did it. Twilight never wanted to be better than anypony, she accepted the responsibility of being a princess but she still hated it. So why would she want a party celebrating the day she became an alicorn, the thing that stops her going anywhere without somepony staring. The thing that makes everypony treat her like a piece of art and not a person. So she destroyed the flowers, stole Pinkie's plan and everything else, it was the only thing she could do. A knock came at her bedroom door, "Twilight, come on, you got to let me in!" Twilight's horn glowed and the door opened for Spike. Twilights face was buried in a pillow, "What is it Spike, I don't feel like talking or eating, why did I even let you in." "Because I'm your faithful assistant, now look Twi, if there's anything you have taught me about friendship it's that friends always help each other, no matter what." Twilight's ears perked up but her face dug deeper into the pillow, "Yeah so, even if I could think of what to say to Pinkie she wouldn't let me in, I hurt her and made her hurt our friends." "Ok, number one you can teleport, number two you're still Pinkie's friend, remember when you first met her in Ponyville, she even threw you a welcome to Ponyville party. She needs you to redeem yourself." Lifting her face from her pillow , "You know what Spike, you're right!" "I am" Spike filled himself with pride "Yes, this is why you will always be my friend and assistant you're always there for me, and now I need to be there for Pinkie." It was at that point Twilight dashed out of the castle with one pony in mind, Pinkie. The next day Twilight arrived at Pinkie's, when Twilight's eyes saw Pinkie's home she realised what she'd find on the inside, stories from Rainbow might have been exaggerated but this was going to be ugly. It looked like an abandoned old building, which is strange considering she's only been upset for two days. Twilight's horn began to glow again and then poof. She was on the other side of Pinkie's door. The room was somehow filled with dust and cobwebs, Pinkie Pie logic. The house was dark and quiet, a strange conversation broke the silence. "I agree, how could you be friends with someone like that?" The voice was deep but didn't sound real. "She ruined your life, your friendships." The second voice came with a Manehattan accent, Twilight was unsure who was talking. " I'll never speak to her again, at least you all listen to me." It was Pinkie's voice, the voices were all coming from upstairs, Twilight followed the voices to Pinkie's bedroom door. "Pinkie please let me in," Twilight pleaded, "I only want to talk." "She don't wanna talk, leave the lady alone!" The Manehattan voice was weirdly similar to Pinkie's. Twilight charged up the teleport spell. Poof, in a flash she was standing before a bucket of turnips and a pile of rocks. As her eyes met Pinkie's she saw a horrible sight; the pink ponies mane was straight, her eyes were small and seemed to be drawing away from each other. "Oh, hello Princess Twilight, what brings such an important, kind and selfless pony like you to my simple, pathetic, foolish old home." Pinkie's face was adorned with an unnatural smile. "Pinkie, I am sorry." Twilight couldn't find the words to say why. "Oh, it's ok I have new friends now, right Rocky." Pinkie shook the rocks as she spoke, "Yeah, she don't need pony princesses like yourself!" Twilight leapt in front of Pinkie then the room went bright, Pinkie couldn't see but she heard Twilight, "Snap out of it!" As her eyes readjusted Pinkie could see Twilight in front of her. "Twi, you're my friend, why did you do it?" Twilight finally found the words she needed, "I was being selfish, I didn't want to celebrate the day I became this." Her soul was pouring out before Pinkie Pie. "But why?" Pinkie pressed, " You're a princess and that's an amazing thing." "I never wanted to be better than anypony, I didn't ask to be Princess Twilight Sparkle." "But you're not Princess Twilight Sparkle to us, you will always be just our Twilight in our eyes. Just because other ponies think of you like a goddess and a celebrity, doesn't mean your friends aren't there for you, you're the princess of friendship you should know this." "I'm sorry, Pinkie." Tears filled Twilight's eyes as she realised just how much of a fool she had been. "It's alright, Twilight, we are still friends. I shouldn't have acted like that myself." Pinkie's hoof pulled her friend closer, she tried to comfort the sobbing Princess. Pinkie held Twilight in a comforting hug for almost ten minutes. As the tears came to a halt Twilight spoke up, "Pinkie, we better get ready." "For what?" She asked in response. "For the party." Twilight's eyes looking into Pinkie's, a slight smile growing on her face.
