> What's Wrong With Cheese? > by Luvbuttonmash > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > It's in a Blanket.. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight, a nice and young alicorn, was in her library, catching up on the latest edition of Daring Do. She loved the series very so, to the point where her faithful assistant Spike had to take the book away from her so she could slumber. It was an adventure to her, reading stories of the author. She locked herself in the library until she finished her book. She wasn't taking any chances this time. A loud knock on the door distracted Twilight from her book. She rolled her eyes and continued on. Only her book was gone. Her eyes widened in confusion and shock. "Huh?!" she said, befuddled from the missing book. She looked under the table she was sitting at. No book there. She looked around her library to examine any clues as to where her precious book went. It was then that she saw purple scales running down the hall. "SPIKE!" Twilight yelled. She galloped behind the sneaky dragon with anger in her eyes. How dare he take her book? What had she done to deserve this? It didn't make sense to her. She stopped while Spile tried to open the door outside of the library to escape Twilight's clutches. She used her magic to try and pry the book from his claws, but he held on tight. She used most of her strength to get the book back to herself, but Spike would not let go. "Spike! Let go of my book!" She said. She saw him look past her, then said with a smirk: "Okay. You're the princess." He let go of the book, both claws up to the sky. The book came towards Twilight, who had fallen to the ground from the sudden pull. Spike quickly went to comfort her, but she didn't care. All she wanted was the book. "T-Thank you, Spike," Twilight said, rising up with the help of her assistant. "Twilight! I swear I thought you were going to fall on that pillow!" He said, pointing to its direction. "It's okay, Spike. I didn't fracture anything. Now, back to my reading," she said, trotting back to the table. "Um, Twilight? Your friends wanted you to come out," Spike said. She turned back around with the levitated book. "Why didn't you say so? Here, put this back where it came from. I'll be back," she said, levitating the book back to him. She unlocked the chained door with her magic and trotted through the hallway of her castle. Her friends sat in their seats in the main hall, patiently waiting for her presence. "There she is!" Pinkie said, jumping out of her seat to hug Twilight. "Hi guys. Sorry about that. I was reading and—" "Say no more, dear. It's alright," Rarity said, giving her a warm smile. "What I don't understand is why ya had to lock the doors to read a book," Applejack said, crossing her hooves. "Well, you see, I just don't want to be bothered by Spike. He always takes my book away at the best parts. But it's fine, I guess. I do need sleep," she explained, sitting in her own chair. "So, what should we do today?" Fluttershy asked. "Ooh! Pick me! I have an idea! Pick me!" Pinkie said, raising her hoof in the air like a foal at school. "Come on, Pinkie. You don't need to do that. Just say it," Rainbow Dash said. "Okay! I heard that a new restaurant opened up. It's a Mecs-I-can restaurant. I think that's how you pronounce it. Anyway, we should go there!" Pinkie said. The others looked at each other in agreement. All except Twilight. She quickly shook her head, slowly stepping back into her library. Pinkie caught her before she could return. "Come on, Twilight! You don't have to order that! They have other things, like nachos!" Pinkie said, pushing her back to her seat. "B-but I need to read the rest of my book!" She said. "We all know you read that book like, a hundred times, Twilight," Rainbow said. "Oh, is this because of the quesadilla thing? Darling, you have nothing to worry about. It's just food," Rarity said. "And we'll be there to protect you 100 percent," Fluttershy assured. Twilight sighed in defeat and gave in to the decision."Alright, I'll go with you guys." "Mexican place it is. C'mon, guys," Applejack said, getting up from her seat. The others followed Twilight out of the castle doors. Every pony pushed her to the restaurant, her shaking along the way. "Come...on...Twilight," Rainbow said, using both her wings and hooves to push her friend. Everyone around town watched in confusion as to why they were pushing a princess. Twilight tried her best to nail her hooves to the ground, but with five ponies pushing her, it was merely impossible. "A few more steps and we'll be there," Applejack said. Twilight's eyes widened as they approached the establishment, which was recently built. Her forehead started to sweat, and her shaking intensified. "You can wait out here with me if you want to, Twilight," Fluttershy said, trying to calm down her paranoid friend. Twilight looked around for any signs of the feindish dish. She took a deep breath in and out, and her expression softened. "Alright, Fluttershy," Twilight said, smiling. The rest of the gang went in, and her and Flittershy waited at a table outside. They talked for a bit, until Lyra sat next to them with the scariest thing ever: a quesadilla. Twilight sniffed with her muzzle, then looked towards her direction. Her eyes widened, and she started to scream, running crazily into the restaurant, hiding behind Applejack's tail. "Sugarcube! Ya scared me there. What's the matter?" Applejack asked, holding her bag with her hoof. The rest of her friends looked at Applejack in confusion. She mouthed the words "I don't know." "Q-QUESADILLA!!" Twilight said, shaking in her body. Applejack put her food down on one of the tables and lifted her up to her hooves. "Twilight, it's okay. Nothin's gonna happen to ya. You can relax," she said. Twilight looked around the restaurant. All she could see was quesadillas. Quesadillas everywhere. "TOO.....MUCH....CHEESE!!" Twilight yelled out. She teleported herself to the corner of the restaurant, rocking back and forth and petting her tail, a wide smile on her face. "It's fine.....it's gonna be allllllright, Twily. You won't be devoured by the blanket monster! Yeah! It's just.....very...blobbly....CHEESY food. Nothing wrong with that. But the triangles! What about those?! They're pointy, and can, can give you an ouchie! Yes, YES! Quesadilla bad, staying home GOOD!" Twilight's friends surrounded her with confusion and fright. "Twilight, are you okay?" Rainbow Dash said, trying to pull her up. Twilight swatted her hoof away. "Ow!" "Nobody touch Twilight! Twilight is fine! She just needs to go home and take a nap! Yeah, that's it! It's fine. It's alright. You're safe now," Twilight told herself. The rest of the ponies in the restaurant started to watch the frightened princess slowly slip into madness once again. "That's it! We have to get her to go to sleep!" Rarity said. The group pulled her out of her corner and out of the restaurant, her flailing her hooves in every direction. "Stop pulling Twilight! I command you! Oh no! A quesadilla! Run!!" Twilight screamed, kicking her friends off of her and running the other direction. "After her!" Applejack yelled. The gang chased after her. She looked back at them. "Get away from me, you cheese-filled blankets! I will outrun you, fools!" Twilight said, flapping her wings to fly away. "Oh no you don't! C'mon, Fluttershy!" Rainbow said, flapping her wings and soaring to the sky. Flutter shy followed. Not as fast as her two friends, she propelled through the sky slowly. Rainbow looked back and rolled her eyes. She grabbed her hoof and flew away. "It was SUCH a great idea for ya to say we should go to that restaurant, Pinkie," Applejack said in sarcasm. They ran after their friend as well. "I didn't know she would go THAT crazy. Besides, who orders quesadillas anyway?" Pinkie said. "You shouldn't have suggested that, Pinkie Pie. We should have gone to Sugar Cube Corner," Rarity said. "I know. I should apologize when she wakes up," she said. "We all will, sugarcube," Applejack said, smiling. She stopped and looked around for something. She ran towards the Cutie Mark Crusaders, then came back with a rope. "I got an idea," she said. "Ugh, since when did Twilight become the fast one?" Rainbow asked, flying as fast as she could. "And she's starting to sound like Princess Luna! That's weird," Fluttershy said, looking down at the ground. "Huzzah! You cannot catch the lovely princess of Mosel! You fly like a baby!" Twilight said, sticking her tongue out at them. "She acting like a foal! What's wrong with her?" Rainbow asked, stopping in her tracks. "It seems like she's experiencing memories of which she had when she sees quesadillas. That's why she's acting like a foal. That's why she has to take a nap. So she can focus," Fluttershy said. Rainbow blinked. "How did you know that?" She asked. "Let's just say I know what she's going through," she said, hiding behind her tail. "Gotcha!" A voice said. Both Pegasus looked down to see Applejack holding a rope in her mouth. Twilight's hoof was caught in the hole, and she was trying to get out. "Let go of me, fools! You can't do this! I...need...to...fly," Twilight whispered. Her eyes closed, and her wings folded back, and she started to fall to the ground. "Fluttershy, we gotta catch her!" Rainbow said, zooming down to catch her. Fluttershy followed her, tears welling her eyes. Right before her head touched the ground, Rainbow caught her hind leg and held it tight. Everypony took a breath of relief as Rainbow slowly let her down. Twilight softly snored on the dirt path as her friends surrounded her. "Let's get her home," Applejack said. Twilight awoken from her slumber in her room. She rubbed her eyes and saw her friends sitting around the room. "What happened?" She asked. Her friends looked at her and smiled. "Thank goodness you're alright!" Rarity said, hugging her. "I'm sorry, Twilight. I shouldn't have made you go to that restaurant, knowing your fear," Pinkie apologized. "We're all sorry. We're such bad friends," Rainbow said. "No you're not. You're great friends. Don't worry. I know I can get pretty crazy. But what exactly happened?" Twilight asked. "Let's just say....you screamed cheese," Applejack said. Her friends nodded in agreement.
