Pinkie Overseas
Pinkie Pie holds the telescope up to her eye, looking out into the distance. She turns to her trust co-captain, Sea Wind, with a worried look on her face.
"What is it, Captain Pinkie Pie?" asks Sea Wind. Pinkie Pie looks at him and giggles.
"Oh, you don't have to call me captain! Just call me Pinkie!" she replies, laughing. Seeing Sea Wind staring at her, she clears her throat and begins to look serious again.
"Oh yeah, there's just a huge storm headed straight towards us. Can you go bring the news to the rest of the crew? This looks like it will be a big one," explains Pinkie Pie.
"Uh, Capt- uh, Pinkie? Could I possibly see this 'storm'?" asks Sea Wind.
"Of course!" says Pinkie Pie in her singsong voice. She hands over the telescope. Sea Wind looks into it before yelling, "OH MY CELESTIA!" He gallops away to go tell the rest of the crew. Pinkie Pie slumps down at the wheel, resting her cheek on her hoof. We've been in bad storms before, but we've never seen anything like this. She pulls Gummy down off of the top of the wheel.
"You can rest in here, Gummy. You will be nice and safe," says Pinkie Pie as she sticks him in her bag. She rummages around in the bag for a few seconds before pulling out a cupcake, which she promptly tosses into her mouth. "Mmm! Yummy!" she says to no one in particular, her mouth full of cupcake. She closes up the bag and pushes it into a little crevice on the deck.
Meanwhile, the crew is preparing for the storm. Sea Wind trots around, shouting orders at the crew.
"Heave Ho! Come on, we don't have all day! The storm will be on top of us in aprox 10 minutes!" yells Sea Wind into the face of one pony.
As Pinkie Pie watches all of this take place, she feels a familiar twitching at the base of her tail. Followed by an ear twitch, a belly grumble, and... Pinkie Pie gasps as her tongue twitches. No. This can't be happening. Not today.
Strong gales begin to form, carrying water up onto the deck and blowing some ropes into the ocean. Pinkie Pie stares out at the sea, knowing what is going to happen. She sighs and walks over to the crevice, pulling out the bag and retrieving Gummy.
"I'm so, so sorry Gummy," says Pinkie Pie as she holds Gummy close to her body. A single tear falls onto Gummy's scales, gleaming in what is left of the sunlight. She stands up and wipes her eyes. The sky continues to grow darker, the storm about to hit any minute. Lightning flashes in the distance, but close enough to make the crew uneasy. Suddenly, the skies open up, and rain pours down on the ship. The wind grows stronger still, large gusts sending waves of water onto the boat. Lightning flashes and thunder rumbles, filling the sky with its deafening din.
Sea Wind runs up to the poop deck, panting.
"We're shark bait. This storm is like nothing we've ever seen before," he yells over the wind. Pinkie Pie stares off into the storm, her mane and tail loosing their bounce and falling flat along her body. "Uh, Captain Pinkie Pie?" asks Sea Wind, touching Pinkie Pie's flank. After a few seconds, Pinkie Pie whirls around, pressing her lips to Sea Wind's. Sea Wind is shocked for a second, unable to move. He then leans into the kiss. They kiss for a moment, when suddenly, lightning strikes the boat, sending the front of the boat up in flames. Pinkie Pie looks at Sea Wind, sadness in her eyes.
"I love you. And I'm so, so sorry for what is about to happen," says Pinkie Pie above the screams of the crew. Pinkie Pie and Sea Wind kiss one more time, this one even more passionate than the last. Then Pinkie Pie grabs Gummy and rushes off the poop deck. Sea Wind stares at where Pinkie Pie was a moment before, before yelling, "PINKIE PIE!" His yells are lost to the wind.
Pinkie Pie rushes down into the ship, where her cabin is located. She grabs her captain's log off the shelf and sets it down at her desk, grabbing a quill and beginning to write.
June 2nd, 2015
This will be my last entry. Our ship has gotten caught in a terrible storm, and lightning has set our ship on fire. I won't be pulling through this storm; this storm is the worst by far. Sea Wind, if you ever find this journal, know that I loved you with all my heart. And, if our ship survives, I promote you to Captain of this vessel.
This is Captain Pinkie Pie, signing out.
Leaving the log on her desk, Pinkie Pie rushes back out of the cabin and onto the deck. She realizes that the fire has devoured the whole front of the boat. The water from the sea fails to put it out, and it continues working its way to the back of the boat. It is time.
Sea Wind rushes over to Pinkie Pie, a relieved look on his face.
"Oh, there you are! I was so worried about you when I saw you go rushing off like that," he says. Pinkie Pie turns and looks at him, no expression on her face until she speaks.
"I'm sorry. Goodbye."
Tears flood down her cheeks. Suddenly, a large wave crashes into the two, carrying Pinkie Pie and Gummy out to sea.
"NO! PINKIE PIE!" screams Sea Wind. The cold water swirls around Pinkie Pie, making her body go numb. Pinkie Pie lets go of Gummy, leaving him to sink to the ocean floor. Pinkie Pie takes her last breath as she is pulled under. Through the swirling water, Pinkie Pie feels... peaceful. She opens her eyes for one last look at the water before she is taken by the sea.
