> The Rainbow and The Comet > by RNBW > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Meeting the Comet > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a serene and beautiful Friday afternoon across the city of Canterlot. Warm shadows danced across the pavement, as Rainbow Dash, Canterlot High sports star, made her way placidly down the streets towards her home. Her sneakered feet slapped out her own beat, and her multi-colored head bobbed up and down. It was the start of Spring Break, which means there will be no school for three weeks and Rainbow wanted to start with a bang. That meant getting home as soon as possible, playing some videogames and calling up the girls. Of course, the spring heat also had already begun creeping in. Rainbow lazily wiped the sweat from her forehead with her sleeve, sliding onto a park bench on an unfamiliar block. She let a relaxing sigh as she stretched her limbs, dropping her backpack off on the ground. 'Let's see… where should I go with the girls? Hope Sunset's free this time,' Rainbow thought nonchalantly with her gaze fixed at the sky. Rainbow's eyes widened at the golden glow of the sun starting to sink towards the cloudy mountains, warning that nighttime was coming soon. She bit her lip, throwing her bag over her shoulders as she stood up from the bench. Rainbow turned around to start walking again, but froze when she heard something crash. She whirled around, taking a fighting stance for protection. "Who's there!?" she challenged to the empty street, shooting glares in every direction. When only silence regained, her gaze fell on a small, dark alley between two buildings. "Hello? Is anybody there?" Rainbow called out, curiosity overwhelming her fear. Rainbow Dash stepped forward carefully, bringing her head into the dusty darkness. She shrugged her shoulders and began to walk out of the alley, but then, she drew back when her call was answered; with quiet, mewling sobs. Rainbow covered her mouth in shock, trying to hold her breathing to hear the quiet cries of distress. Without making a sound, she walked down the alley, finding to her surprise, only one silver trash can lying on the floor sideways. But there was a figure hiding behind, trying its best to disappear from view. Rainbow gasped in shock at what she just found behind the can. It was a kid, no doubt. The young boy looked like he was only six years old and was curled up in a ball. The kid had light skin and his clothes, a black long-sleeved t-shirt and male denim shorts, were worn through and dirt-stained. "Kid?" Rainbow breathed, kneeling down beside the small boy on the ground. Something snapped inside of her at seeing such an innocent spirit alone on the streets. She pulled back the trashcan, staring back into magenta eyes with her hand outstretched. However, the kid looked up and saw her. The boy let out a high yelp, his blue hair falling over his face, as he scrambled backwards. It was blatant that this kid was terrified of her. This made Rainbow feel bad for the little kid. Rainbow walked up to him very slowly, trying not to scare him again. "Hey," she gently whispered. "P-P-Please, do-don't h-hurt m-me!" the little kid stuttered, hiding behind his only defense; the trash can. But Rainbow wasn't that type of person to give up so easily, especially on someone who obviously needed her help. She continued to inch closer, finally able to place a comforting hand on his worn through shoulder. "Shh," she murmured. "I'm not going to hurt you," Rainbow said gently to the terrified kid while she rubbed his shoulder. Hearing the kindness in her voice, the child slowly turned his head to look at Rainbow. His eyes slightly widened when he saw her vibrant rainbow hair. Rainbow kneeled down to his level and placed her hand on his shoulder. "Are you alright, kiddo? I'm sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you." The child gave her a small nod as he tried to calm himself. His eyes never left Rainbow's face. Rainbow gave him a friendly smile. "By the way, my name is Rainbow Dash. What's your name buddy?" "M-My name is Comet Moonstone. It's n-nice to meet you Miss R-Rainbow Dash," his tone was small and nervous, but very polite for a little kid. Rainbow chuckled and gave him a wink. "That's a cool name, but there’s no need to call me Miss, kiddo, just Rainbow is fine." "Um... Alright," Comet agreed softly, giving her a small smile. He pulled his knees up to his chest, breathing in and out. "Tell me, bud, do you live nearby?" Rainbow asked slowly. Comet's smile turned into a frown, glancing down at the ground. "N-No." Rainbow's breath caught in her throat. Noticing his nervousness, Rainbow decided not to ask him more questions. However, something still didn't sit right with her and a feeling of dark unease stuck to her. Where are his parents? Rainbow shook her head slightly. She couldn't just leave him out here alone. Her eyes widened when an idea struck her mind. Rainbow cleared her throat, bring the kid's attention back up to her. "Comet, why don't you come with me... Until we can find your parents? You can sleep at my house. How does that sound?" Comet stared at Rainbow in surprise. She was offering him a place to sleep rather than leaving him alone. Comet could tell that she wasn't lying to him; he trusted this girl. "Yes, I would like that," Comet said in response, looking up at Rainbow with a grateful, yet childish smile lifting his lips. Rainbow grinned at Comet, before picking him up by his armpits carefully and placing him on her back. "Hold on, little guy," Rainbow said to him, gripping his legs. Comet wrapped his small arms around her neck as Rainbow walked towards the exit of the alley. Arriving at her house, Rainbow looked back at Comet on her back. The child had fallen asleep during the walk, his thick lashes closed and a content look on his dirty face. In order not to wake him up, she carefully opened the door and creeped inside. She lifted him up from her back and gently put him on the sofa. 'The kid must be hungry,' Rainbow thought to herself, before entering the kitchen with one last glance at the sleeping child. A few minutes later, Comet was woken up from his nap by the sound of footsteps. Opening his eyes, Comet looked up to see Rainbow Dash, sitting casually beside him on the cushion, her face had a bright smile. "Did you sleep well?" Rainbow asked, chuckling as Comet yawned and stretched out his limbs. Comet nodded meekly in response, pulling himself up to watch her. "Good. Follow me," Rainbow said as she motioned over to the kitchen area. Comet did as he was told and slowly climbed off the sofa. When the two arrived at the kitchen, Comet was greeted with a pleasant scent coming from the old, brown table. Rainbow gave him a smirk. "If you're wondering, that's the dinner." Comet quickly hopped into the chair and stared down at his meal almost in awe, his eyes widening in excitement. His meal consisted of a plate of scrambled eggs with two fried sausages and a glass of grape juice. Nothing special to Rainbow, but Comet hardly dared breathe before the food. He gingerly took the fork and began to eat. Rainbow watched quietly as he devoured his food with a ferocity and chuckled, tilting her head. "Heh, looks like someone was hungry." Comet sheepishly smiled without a word as Rainbow sat down across the table from him, her meal . With that, the two ate their dinner in a warm silence. Once they finished their dinner, Rainbow looked at the clock on her wall and then at Comet, who let out a yawn. "Alright, kiddo, time to get some shut eye," Rainbow told him, before lifting him up from his seat. Rainbow Dash led him up the stairs, with Comet trailing behind while he grasped her hand. Everything they passed seemed to amaze the child, from the lamp, to the rug. Rainbow squeezed his hand tighter, walking past the bathroom to her own guest room. Comet stopped for a moment, tugging at Rainbow's sleeve. "Rainbow Dash?" he whispered. "The bathroom's so pretty!" Rainbow stopped, glancing into the mundane room. "I suppose it it," she replied, cocking her eyebrow. Comet just innocently smiled, pulling her forward. "Alright then, little buddy," she laughed, following him beside the shower. The boy traced his hands over the glass, squinting inside as Rainbow Dash glanced down at his face. "I guess you'd like to get a bit cleaner, huh?" she asked, softer than before and tousling Comet's blue hair. Comet nodded eagerly, rubbing softly his arms. "Okay, I’ll be outside waiting for you, how does that sound?" Rainbow inquired, pulling open the shower door. "Feel free to ask for any help," she added. Comet waved goodbye at her and Rainbow Dash took that as a sign to leave. She smirked, gently closing the bathroom door. Since Comet didn't have any other clothes to his name, and she was not allowing that kid to step back into his filthy old ones, Rainbow Dash had lent him the softest shirt she owned, complete with sleep-shorts she had outgrown many years ago. Yet, the little boy that creaked open the door to Rainbow's guest room was almost unrecognizable. Rainbow Dash rushed forward, inspecting his dirt-free face, and rosy red cheeks. Without a second thought, she embraced him, breathing in deeply his own scent mixed with the lavender soap of her shower. "You feel all clean, now?" she cooed, nearly wincing at her tone. Comet returned the hug, nodding happily. "Yes. I feel very clean. Thank you," he soflty said, leaping from Rainbow's arms and throwing himself on the bed. Comet rolled around, his body tangling up in the white sheets as he giggled into the pillow, although struggling to pull himself up from the blankets. Rainbow placed a hand over her heart. "No problem, Comet," she answered sincerely. "You're a good kid." He seemed to find that immensely funny, throwing back his head and exploding into laughter. Rainbow chuckled slighty while covering her mouth in mirth; not even understanding what was so entertaining. Perhaps it was just Comet that was found absolutely endearing. The boy shook with giggles in the pillow, coming up for air. Rainbow steadied him with a touch. "Hey, now. You don't want to get yourself all riled up, do you? It's time for bed, remember, silly?" she said, ruffling his hair. "Okay," he replied with a nod. "You do have a nice bedroom." "There you go!" Rainbow winked, patting the bed for Comet, she pulled back the covers as he snuggled beneath them. "You sleep tight, alright?" she said, tucking him in. Comet nodded, squeezing his eyes shut. When he opened them again, she was still sitting there. "Oh!" Rainbow Dash blushed in embarrassment, standing up. "Okay, Comet, I'm right next door if you need me. Good night," Rainbow softly said before leaving the room, flicking off the light. "Wait," Comet called out suddenly, making the rainbow haired gal to turn around. "What's up, little guy?" Rainbow asked, pausing at the threshold, the golden light from the hallway spilling in. Comet was silent for a moment, pulling the covers around his chin. "Umm... C-Can you g-give me a g-good n-night kiss?" Rainbow stood there, surprised for a second, before she went over to the bed with a smile. She leaned over and gave him a soft kiss on the forehead. "Better?" she asked gently. Comet nodded his head and burrowed further in the warm blankets. "Thank you, Rainbow Dash. Goodnight," Comet mumbled, already falling victim to the serenity of slumber. Rainbow's heart melted at this sight. Sighing silently, she bent down and gave the kid one last little kiss, before closing the door to the dark. > A Caring Rainbow > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The bright, silvery moonlight trickled through the windows of Rainbow Dash's bedroom, shining onto the bed where the rainbow haired girl slept peacefully. She had donned her sleep wear; a white tank top and blue sweatpants with a white stripe running down on each side. Everything was awfully quiet, save for her loud snore as her chest rose up and down. The silence was broken when the door slowly creaked open. Rainbow awoke suddenly to the sound of the door, and sat up in the bed, yawning and rubbing her eyes. Squinting, she dropped her gaze to Comet Moonstone standing in the doorway. The kid clutched a pillow to his chest, tears glistening as they streamed down his cheeks. Rainbow immediately untangled herself from the sheets, sliding over to Comet in a panic. "What's the matter, buddy?" Comet merely whimpered in response, and turned to leave the room, but felt a soft hand stop him by the shoulder. Comet slowly looked up at Rainbow Dash, shivering with each breath he took. "Come on, Comet, what's wrong?" Rainbow urged, as she crouched down to the floor on her knees. Her magenta eyes sparkled in the moonlight, her shadowed face in worry. Comet let out a hiccup, stumbling forward and wrapping his arms around her waist, dropping the pillow in the process. He buried his face against her neck as he began to sob freely. Rainbow said nothing, instead, she pulled the kid into a tender hug and gently rubbed his back. Comet cried, pausing every so often to wipe at his face, grasping the folds of Rainbow's clothes with his hands. Comet wanted to cry. He needed to, this the girl knew. So, she sat in the darkness, murmuring words of comfort into a lullaby. The young boy sniffed heavily as Rainbow held him close, and after many minutes of tears, he pulled himself up from Rainbow's neck. She brushed Comet’s hair back from his damp face, wiping away a tear that trailed down his cheek. "Comet, are you alright, now?" she whispered after the storm had passed. Comet glanced into the darkest corner of the room, refusing to let go of his protector. His eyes dilated in fear, but he remained still on Rainbow's lap. "Yes," he stuttered, uncertainty creeping across his tone. Rainbow managed a tight-lipped, yet relieved smile. "What happened?" she asked softly, rocking the child back and forth, like how her mother used to soothe her. "Did you have a bad dream?" she gently stroked his hair, closing her eyes. "Y-Yes," he finally choked out, hardly above a whisper. "A really bad dream, Rainbow," he hugged her tightly again, only relenting when Rainbow pushed him back. "What was it about?" she asked again, never ceasing her rocking. Comet took a deep, shuddering breath. "I-It was dark. I don’t know where I was, but it was dark. I tried to get up, but my legs were shackled with chains. I was inside of a cage and my head was hurting really hard," he whispered. Rainbow hummed in reply, bringing him closer to her chest. Comet rubbed roughly at his eyes. "And-and then I heard a scary roar. I got scared and I-I tried to move and I called for help, but nobody came. The roar got louder than before. Then a big, scary dragon appeared from the dark, glaring at me. I started to cry and then the dragon ate me and I died!" Rainbow Dash drew in a sharp breath, pulling back to look at the kid. "You died?" she asked, her eyes wide. Comet nodded solemnly. "Yes. I did! And I was really scared, and couldn't move. Why would that happen to me?" he cried. Rainbow shook her head hard, shushing his sobs. "No, no. Buddy, no, it was a dream. Of course, That would never, ever happen to you," she reassured, her voice tight. Comet sniffed. "But..." "No," Rainbow repeated firmly, rubbing his back. "Never, Comet. If someone wants to hurt you, I will always be here for you, got it?" “Y-You will?” Comet stammered, his tone filled with hope. Rainbow smiled warmly at him and nodded. Comet was silent for a moment, the only sound being the racing of his heart. Finally, he gave her a soft grateful smile and hugged her. Rainbow let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding. "There. There, it's alright now, okay?" she murmured. Without hesitation, Rainbow gently lifted him into the air and sat him on the bed. Comet looked up at her face, his eyes filled with hope. "C-Can I... s-s-sleep here... with you... p-please?" Rainbow let out a mix between a laugh and a sigh. "Of course, kid," she said, sliding across the warm bed sheets, and laying out a pillow for Comet. He gasped, scrambling over and under the blankets, hiding from his fears. Rainbow Dash smiled at him comfortingly as she brought an arm over the small child, pulling him to her side. Comet trembled a bit, but his breathing slowed as soon as Rainbow began to sing. Comet didn't know why, but he felt safe with her, like a bright light in the darkness. Even though they meet, she had a comforting glow that made him feel safe. Rainbow continued her song, the smooth lilt of each word soothing over the child as he moved closer. His eyes slowly closed with every note the girl drew out. Rainbow ceased her song as her voice fell to a whisper. "Don't worry, Comet. I’ll chase away your nightmares," she breathed in a motherly tone, kissing his forehead. Rainbow slowly closed her eyes and fell asleep as Comet snuggled close to her and rested his head on her shoulder. The light of the morning sun shone through the windows of Rainbow's room. Opening her magenta eyes, Rainbow Dash let a refreshed yawn before turning to see Comet Moonstone snuggled up against her. Rainbow couldn't help but lean over and brush his hair from his face with a smile. This sight could be only described as 20% adorable. She sat up in the bed, and in a soothing tone, whispered into his ear. "Comet, it's time to wake up." Hearing her voice, Comet carefully opened his eyes and smiled at the rainbow haired girl. "Good morning, Rainbow," he said quietly. Rainbow lifted him and placed him on her lap. "Hey there, little guy. Did you sleep well?" Comet nodded and laid his head on Rainbow's neck. "Good to hear. Would you like some breakfast?" Rainbow asked as she ruffled his hair. "Yes Rainbow. I-I’d like that," Comet replied, while his stomach grumbled. Rainbow Dash chuckled. With that, Comet hopped off her lap, and took the hand offered to him. When the two arrived at the kitchen to have some breakfast, Comet gently sat in one of the kitchen chairs while Rainbow went to the fridge to make something to eat. Rainbow made herself a strawberry jam sandwich and for Comet a delicious bowl of yogurt with berries. Once she finished making breakfast, Rainbow Dash walked over to Comet with the bowl of yogurt in her hands and gently set it in front of him with a spoon. "Here you go, I hope you enjoy it, buddy," Rainbow said to him, clinking the spoon and bowl. Comet smiled softly at Rainbow Dash before taking a spoonful of the yogurt. "Thank you, Rainbow. It tastes very good." Comet grinned, hurriedly eating another bite. Rainbow Dash patted his shoulder. "No problem, Comet, I'm happy that you liked it." Breakfast continued as it would, with Comet finding yogurt 'the best thing in the whole world'. He proceeded to then polish it off in less than a minute, to which Rainbow found highly amusing. Placing the dishes in the sink, she turned to Comet. "Hey, Comet, would you like to meet my friends?" Rainbow asked. Comet nearly tripped out of his seat in excitement. "Yes, I would like that, a lot. Are your friends nice just like you?" "Oh, they are the most awesome friends I've ever met. Don’t worry Comet, you’ll like them," she gave him a wink. "I hope so," Comet said lightly, yet his head lowered. "I've never had a friend before." "Well, guess what? You already have one," Rainbow said as she pointed at herself with her thumb. Comet giggled, running up beside Rainbow and hugging her. Rainbow blushed, caressing his arm. "But before we leave, is it alright if I take a shower?" He gave her a small nod, before Rainbow took Comet’s hand into hers and led him upstairs. Once the two arrived in front of the bathroom's door, Rainbow placed her hand on his shoulder. "You stay here, alright?" Comet stood back. "Okay, Rainbow," he agreed. With a quick pat on the head, Rainbow closed the door behind her, the shower kicking on a few minutes later. Slumping down to the floor, Comet waited patiently, playing with the ends of his shirt. When the older girl appeared, she wore the same clothes from yesterday; a short sleeved blue jacket with a white tank top underneath which had a rainbow lightning bolt in the center, a white and pink skirt with short black leggings underneath and blue boots. "Comet, are you ready?" she asked, stepping up next to him, still drying her hair with a towel. "No," The little kid said as he stood up, looking at his pajamas. Rainbow snapped her fingers. "Oh, right! I forgot!" she said before walking to the laundry room which was beside the bathroom. A few minutes later, Rainbow came out with the child’s clothes, folded and clean. "Here, get changed in my room. I'll be waiting for you," Rainbow said as she handed over his clothes. Comet kindly took his clothes and gave her a grateful, small nod, going towards Rainbow’s room. It didn’t took long as Comet came out fully dressed with his clean clothes. "Does your clothes feel warm, buddy?" Rainbow asked as she ruffled his hair. Comet giggled at the head ruffle, happily nodding. The pair went downstairs, walking outside to the golden sunny day. As Comet held her hand, Rainbow glanced down at him with a twinge of worry. 'Something is wrong with him, but I can't put my finger on it. I hope everything goes well.' > Rainbow's Pals - Part 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a sunny saturday in the city of Canterlot and all of the citizens were enjoying the beautiful weather. To many, Saturday is the best day of the week. There is no work, no school and nothing but a free day to do what you need to take care of, or have fun with friends. Rainbow Dash with her newfound friend, Comet Moonstone, were making their way through the streets of Canterlot. Some people, which were at the same age as Rainbow, greeted her with a wave of their hands in which she returned with a wave or a thumbs up. However, there were some murmurs and stares from some people who saw the boy walking with Rainbow. Comet noticed the looks he was receiving from the people. This made Comet very uncomfortable and he stayed as close to Rainbow as possible, not wanting to be separated from her. Rainbow noticed this and turned to look at him with a warm smile. "Don't worry Comet, everyone's here are really cool. Nobody will hurt you. There is no need to be scared." Comet nodded in reply as they continued their way through Canterlot. He continued to stay as close to Rainbow Dash as possible until something jumped in front of him, making him yelp in surprise. Standing in front of Comet was a bright pink girl, about the same age as Rainbow, with a large poofy dark pink hairstyle and blue eyes. She was wearing a cyan vest with a white shirt and a pink heart in the middle underneath the vest, cyan wristbands on each arm, a purple bow belt around the waist, a big pink skirt with three balloons on it and cyan boots with pink bows. The girl stared deeply at him with her large blue eyes. Her eyes continued to come closer, making Comet more scared and uncomfortable than he already was. With the eyes being closer than they should be, the pink girl spoke with incredible quickness. "Hi! I'm Pinkie Pie! Who are you!? Are you new here!? I know everybody in Canterlot, but I don't know you!" – she then let out a big gasp – "So you must be new!! By the way, aren't you such a little wittle cutie!? You are so cute!! I could just eat you up! What's you name!? What is it!? Huh!? What is it!? What is it!? Tell me!! Tell me!! T-" Pinkie Pie's crazy and childish rambling was cut off by a hand in her mouth. As for Comet, he quickly ran behind to the source of the hand. It was Rainbow's hand. "Pinkie Pie! You need to calm down, you're scaring him!" Rainbow chided. Rainbow Dash turned to look at Comet with a look of worry. The child was shaking like a leaf with small tears in his eyes while hugging tighly Rainbow's leg. Now, he was extremely terrified of the pink gal in front of him. Letting out a sigh, Rainbow glared at Pinkie Pie. "Now look what you've done, Pinkie." Pinkie's blubby personality faded away when she saw the anger in Rainbow's eyes. Then, she looked down at Comet and reached a hand to touch him, only for Comet to shy away from it. Pinkie's hair deflated like a balloon. "Oh, I'm... I'm so, so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you," Pinkie said apologetically to Comet. Rainbow let out a sigh as her expression began to soften, "I think you should leave now Pinkie. Tomorrow we'll come to SugarCube Corner when Comet is calm and try this again, okay?" Pinkie's bubbly personality returned when her hair poofed back to normal. "Okie Dokie Lokie! See you guys tomorrow!" she said in her usual cheerful way. Without saying another word, Pinkie Pie bounced away from the two, like if nothing happened. Rainbow turned around, bent down to Comet's level and started to rub his shoulders. "It's alright, Comet, she's gone. I promise she'll be much calmer next time," she said comfortably. Comet started to calm down as he looked at Rainbow who smiled at him reassuringly. "Alright, kiddo, I think the first place we need to go is to Carousel Boutique. One of my friends live there and she can make the best clothes. I’m sure she won’t mind making you a pair of new clothes," Rainbow explained. Comet let out a soft sigh and nodded at her. "O-Okay, Rainbow," Rainbow stood back up, took Comet's hand into hers as she smiled warmly at him and both continued to make their trek through Canterlot. The Carousel Boutique was having a slow day. A teenage girl with a very white skin and purple curly hair was inside the shop drawing a dress design. The girl was wearing a light blue fleecy shirt with a purple skirt that had three diamonds and purple boots. After finishing the drawing, the girl smiled to herself as she looked upon her design and felt a sense of pride of her work. Then, she stood up from her chair where she was sitting, headed to another room and began to put some fabric away as she hummed a cute tune. Just then, a knock at the front door drew the attention of the girl. She turned around and walked up to the main door. "Coming!" the girl said in a regal, elegant voice as she turned the knob. At that moment, a wide smile creept onto her face. "Rainbow, darling. Please come in." "Heya, Rarity," Rainbow greeted as she entered into the boutique with the young boy following close behind. But before Rarity could say a word, she noticed the small child hiding behind Rainbow. "Umm, Rainbow? Why do you have a child with you?" Rarity asked, her voice filled with curiosity. "Well, that's why I'm here," Rainbow scratched the back of her head with a small smile and turned to Comet. "It's alright, Comet, you can show yourself." Comet hesitated, but did as he was told and came out as Rainbow Dash placed her hands on his shoulders. "Comet, I would like you to meet Rarity. She is one of my good friends," Rainbow introduced before looking at the fashionista. "Rarity, this little guy is Comet Moonstone." Comet just looked at Rarity nervously as she did the same. "Oh my! Aren't you the sweetest thing I've ever seen?" Rarity said, beaming at the sight of the kid. Comet only blushed at the comment. To ease his nervousness, Rarity knelt down to Comet's level and carefully reached out her hand to stroke his little hands. "Please don’t be afraid dear, I’m not going to hurt you," Rarity said in an elegant, yet soft voice. Then she gave him a kiss in the forehead. "Well, Comet, it’s a great pleasure to meet you." Comet gave a light smile as he looked up at her. "I-It’s nice to m-meet you too, M-Miss R-Rarity," Rarity returned the smile. "Awww, such manners you have Comet. But you don't have to call me miss, Rarity is just fine." Rainbow Dash smiled at the interaction between the two and let a small sigh of relief. Things were getting better. Just then, Rainbow remembered the other reason why she came here. "Oh right, I almost forgot," she turned to look at the fashionista. "Rarity, I was wondering if you could make Comet a new pair of clothes." "Ask no more, Rainbow, I will be honored to create an outfit for this little darling," Rarity replied and looked at Comet with another smile as she stood back up. "Comet, would you be a dear and follow me?" Comet looked up at Rainbow who gave him a nod that meant it was okay and he nodded at Rarity. She took his hand into hers and led him to a set of mirrors with a short pedestral. "If you don’t mind dear, just step up there so I can take your measurements to make your new outfit," Rarity said, placing her arm around the boy's shoulders. Comet nodded as he carefully stepped up onto the pedestal and Rarity took a plastic tape measure, a pencil and a notepad in order to write his measurements. "Comet dear, if a lady may ask, what is your favorite color?" Rarity asked, taking the measurements of his body. Comet looked up at the fashionista. "Umm, blue." Rarity nodded in acknowledgement as she continued to measure Comet. After writing all the information in her notepad, she smiled warmly down at him. "Alright Comet, all done. Now I’m going to get started on your outfit." The child nodded again, climbed out of the pedestal and walked up to Rainbow Dash. "So... When you finish?" Rainbow asked, rubbing the lower back of her head. Rarity let out a huff and crossed her arms. "Oh, Rainbow Dash, there is no need to be impatient." "It was just a question," Rainbow replied in a deadpan tone. "What I mean is how long it will take you to make his clothes, so while you're making his clothes, I can take him to meet the others." Rarity realised what she meant by that. "Oh. Well, it will take three hours. Fortunately, I don't have any requests today." "Good," Rainbow turned to look down at Comet. "Hey buddy, while Rarity is making your clothes, what do you say if we see my friend Fluttershy?" "O-Okay," Comet nodded before looking up at Rarity with a light smile. "T-Thank you R-Rarity for making me new clothes." Rarity gave him a soft smile. "Awww... Darling, you don’t need to thank me." "Okay, Rarity, see ya later," Rainbow said before smiling warmly at the child, reaching out her hand towards him to grab hold of it. "Come on, Comet." Comet smiled at her softly and he lightly grasped her hand and they walked out of the boutique with Rarity closing the door. 'What a cute little darling,' Rarity thought with a smile before getting started at Comet's outfit. > Rainbow's Pals - Part 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As they walked down the street, Comet could see a cottage up ahead. Upon arriving at the cottage looking house, Rainbow looked back at Comet with a warm smile. "Don't worry, Comet. Fluttershy is the most kindest person I've ever met. Besides, we've been friends since we were kids and she's been like a sister to me," Rainbow Dash explained. Comet looked up at her and nodded. "O-Okay Rainbow, I t-trust you." Rainbow gave Comet another smile before knocking on the door with her right hand. Suddenly, the door opened to reveal a sixteen year old girl. The girl had a long pink hair with a butterfly clip, light yellow skin and cyan eyes. She was wearing a white tank top with a green skirt that had three butterflies and green boots. "Um... hello, Rainbow Dash," Fluttershy gave Rainbow a soft smile. "Hi there, Flutters," Rainbow greeted with a chuckle. "Please come in. Sunset Shimmer, Twilight and Applejack are here too," Fluttershy said before turning to walk inside the cottage. 'The others are here too? Well, that made the things more easier,' Rainbow thought as she entered with Comet still trailing behind her. "Howdy, Rainbow!" Applejack tipped her stetson hat toward Rainbow. She was sitting in the sofa with Twilight Sparkle (of this world) beside her who had a soft smile in her face while Sunset Shimmer was sitting on another sofa. Twilight gave the girl a friendly wave in greeting. "Hi Rainbow Dash." "Hello Rainbow," Sunset greeted wtih a smile. "How's it going?" "Well, I came here with some good news," Rainbow scratched the back of her neck and she turned around to look at the child behind her. "Okay, you can come out." Comet Moonstone slowly stepped out from behind Rainbow and stood in front of the girls who looked at the child in shock. Rainbow Dash cleared her throat to make the introductions and looked down at the child. "Comet, I’d like you to meet Fluttershy, Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle and Applejack," she said before looking at the girls. "Guys, this little guy is Comet Moonstone. I will taking care of him for a while. Say hello, Comet." "Hi there," Comet spoke so softly that they were barely able to hear him, shakingly lifting his hand and waving at them. Rainbow Dash bent down to Comet's level and began to softly rub his arms. "It's alright, little guy. They aren't going to hurt you," she said reassuringly with a smile. Comet looked up at her nervously, then he looked at the girls. Fluttershy let out a squee at the sigh of the child. "Oh, Rainbow! He's so cute!" Applejack was the first one to walk up to him. "Well, well, well, what do we have here," the farm girl said with a smile as she knelt down to Comet's level. "Howdy there little feller, mah name is Applejack and it’s a darn tootin’ pleasure to meet ya Comet." Comet looked up at her with a small smile. "I-It's nice to meet you too, M-Miss Applejack." Applejack felt her heart melt at his politeness and she tipped her hat to him before walking back to the group. Fluttershy was the next to walk up to the small child. "Hi there, sweetheart," she said in a gentle, motherly tone. The shy girl reached out a hand and tenderly stroked his left arm to ease his nervousness. "It’s nice to meet you Comet." Fluttershy said in the softest of tones to not scare the boy. "I am Fluttershy." Comet gave her a small smile. "I-It’s nice to m-meet you too Miss F-Fluttershy." Fluttershy blushed. "Awww, sweetie, you don’t have to call me miss. That's very respectful of you, but Fluttershy is just fine, okay?" Comet nodded as a blush formed on his cheeks at being called 'sweetie' and Fluttershy walked over to the girls. Twilight started walking toward the little boy and sat on her kness as she adjusted her glasses. "Hello, Comet, it’s an pleasure to meet you," she gave him a warm smile, reaching out her hand and clasping his hand in a handshake. "My name is Twilight Sparkle." Comet gave her a soft smile. "I-It’s good to m-meet you too Miss T-Twilight." Twilight returned the smile with one of her own and walked over to the others. Sunset Shimmer was the last to walk up to him and gave him a big, friendly smile. "Hey there, little guy, my name is Sunset Shimmer. It is a pleasure to meet you," she said, placing her hand on his shoulder. "Like Rainbow said, there is no need to be afraid. We are all pleased to meet you." Comet Moonstone gave them each a soft smile. "I-It’s nice to meet y-you all." "Rainbow, I didn't know you have a little brother," Sunset said as she gently ruffled Comet's hair. "Yeah, ya don't talk about yer folks too often," Applejack added with Fluttershy and Twilight nodding in agreement. Rainbow bit her lower lip and shook her head. "Actually, he's not my brother." "No?" everyone said in confusion. "Ummm, well, you see..." Rainbow Dash began explaining what happened yesterday. As she anticipated, her friends had a frown on their faces. "But what about his parents?" Twilight asked. That question caused a deep frown to creep across Comet's face. Rainbow's face saddened a little as she reached out her arm and put it around his shoulders. "I don't know," Rainbow replied as she stroked Comet's hair. "I haven't asked him yet. But something bad must happened. I think is better to ask him when he's ready." Fluttershy, feeling bad for the little colt, walked up to him and pulled him into a tender hug. "Awww... You poor little thing," she said soothingly. Comet trembled a little bit of being close with someone else besides Rainbow, but then calmed down in the shy girl embrace. She leaned her head toward him and gave him a gentle kiss on his forehead. Applejack walked up to Rainbow and patted her on the shoulder. "Ah am impressed of ya, Rainbow. That's probably the most selfless thing ya ever done," she gave her a smile. "Well, I just couldn't leave him alone," Rainbow replied, returning the smile. Suddenly, knock at the door interrupted their conversation. "I’ll got it girls," Fluttershy said as she carefully stood up. Everybody gave her a puzzled look. Fluttershy realized what they meant and looked down at Comet with a rosy blush. "And, boy." She walked up to the door and carefully opened it, revealing Rarity. "Hello, Fluttershy. May I come in?" Rarity asked with a soft smile. Fluttershy nodded. "Of course. Please come in." "Thank you, darling," Rarity said as she walked inside with a bag in her hands. "Hi girls." "Hello Rarity," the girls greeted. Rarity looked over at the small child next to Rainbow. "Hello again, darling." Comet gave her a light smile. "H-Hi Rarity." "Comet, dear, I finished your new outfit," Rarity said as she handed the bag over to him. Comet smiled up at her and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Th-thank you Rarity." The heart of the girls melted at this cute sight. Especially Fluttershy. Rarity gave him a big, warm smile and returned the hug. "You're very welcome, Comet." Just as Rarity said that, the alarm on Rainbow's wristwatch began to ring. She took a look at her watch. "Whoops, time to go home." "Awww, he really needs to go," Sunset playfully cooed as she ruffled his hair earning a giggle from everybody. "Sorry, Sunset, but we will come tomorrow at Sucarcube Corner. How does that sound?" Rainbow said. The girls nodded in agreement. "That's a good idea, Rainbow." Sunset said before looking at Comet. "Goodbye little guy. It was a pleasure to meet you." "Bye, Sunset," Comet said as he wrapped his arms around her in which she returned the hug. "Bye girls. See you tomorrow," Rainbow said and then she turned to Comet and gently took his hand into hers. "Let's go, Comet." Comet nodded at Rainbow before turning to the girls with a soft smile. "G-goodbye everyone. S-See you t-tomorrow." "See ya tomorrow," the girls waved at them as Rainbow and Comet went straight to home. When the two arrived at Rainbow's house, the day was coming to an end. The sun was already dipping behind the horizon, but the light still lingered in the air. The sky was painted in hues of fiery red and crimson. Once they went inside, Rainbow heard Comet's stomach softly grumble. Rainbow gave the boy a teasing smirk. "Looks like someone's hungry." Comet blushed and nodded. "Alright, buddy, what would you like for dinner?" she gently asked. "C-Could you make the s-same thing from y-yesterday? I r-really liked it," he smiled softly at her. "Of course, bud," Rainbow replied, gently took his hand into hers and both went to the kitchen. When the two arrived at the kitchen, Comet sat in one of the kitchen chairs while Rainbow started to make the dinner. After several minutes, the rainbow haired gal walked over to Comet with two plates of scrambled eggs with two fried sausages and carefully set it in the table with two glasses of lemonade. Once Rainbow sat down, the two ate their dinner with smiles on their faces. After finishing their dinner, Comet let out a soft yawn. "Oh, looks like someone's ready for bed," Rainbow said with a soft smirk. "R-Rainbow?" Comet began as he let another yawn. She looked down at the sleepy child. "What's up, kiddo?" "C-Can I s-s-sleep... with you again?" Comet gently asked. "I-It just..." He was cut off when Rainbow gently picked him up from under his armpits. Then she rubbed the top of his head gently with her hand. "You don't want to have nightmares again, right?" Rainbow gave him a warm smile. The kid gave her a simple nod in reply. Rainbow simply shrugged her shoulders. "Meh, that's fine by me." Rainbow walked upstairs with the child on her arms to her bedroom. Once they arrived at the bedroom, she walked up to her bed and placed the kid on it. "Don't worry, buddy, I'll be right back," Rainbow said reassuringly. She went to the drawer where she pulled her sleeping clothes before walking out of the bedroom to go to the bathroom to get changed. While Rainbow was getting changed, Comet stared out the window, watching the moon in the dark blue canvas as the sky was filled with shiny stars. Just then, Rainbow Dash entered the room, now clad in her sleep wear from yesterday. She went to the other side of the bed, climbed up and laid down beside Comet. She brought her arm over the small child, pulling him to her side and began to stroke his hair with her hand. "Ummm... R-Rainbow? C-Can you s-sing me a l-lullaby?" Comet asked quietly. Rainbow smiled down at him warmly. "A lullaby, huh?" Comet nodded. "Y-Yes." She closed her eyes before letting out a soft sigh and started to sing a very familiar song... Hush now, quiet now It's time to lay your sleepy head Hush now, quiet now It's time to go to bed. Driftin' off to sleep Leave the day behind you Driftin' off to sleep Let the joy of dreamland find you. Hush now, quiet now It's time to lay your sleepy head Hush now, quiet now It's time to go to bed. As Rainbow sang, Comet's eyelids got heavy and let out a yawn. When the song ended, the colt fell asleep with a small smile on his face. Rainbow gave a gentle loving smile at the sleeping boy, leaned her head down and kissed him on the forehead. Then, she closed her eyes and fell asleep with Comet snuggling against her. With the light of the moon shining through the window of the room, the two slept like if they were mother and son. > Dark Truth > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dawn breaks in Canterlot City as the sun rose against the cloudless, blue sky. The sun gently beamed through the window of Rainbow's house as it shined brightly on the sleeping form of the athletic and loyal teenager, along with the sleeping form beside her. Rainbow Dash began to open her eyes as she let out a big yawn and rubbed her eyes. She turned her head to the other side of the bed to see the little colt snuggled up against her, sleeping peacefully with a little smile on his face. She sat up in the bed and bent her head down to his. "Comet, wake up little guy," she whispered in a soothingly tone into his ear with a smile. Comet began to stir, letting out a little yawn and blinking his light blue eyes open as he rubbed his eyes. Once he opened them, he looked up at the smiling face of Rainbow. "Good morning, Rainbow," he greeted her with a smile as he let out one last small yawn. "Good morning, kiddo. Did you sleep well last night?" Rainbow asked while stroking his head. "Yes," Comet replied with a nod as he snuggled up against her. Rainbow let out a small giggle at this sight and lifted him on her lap. "Anyways, what would you like for breakfast? I will make you whatever you would like. Okay?" she asked. Comet smiled softly at her. "C-Could you make me s-some oatmeal? Please?" Rainbow put a hand on her chin in a thinking manner with a playful smirk. "Oatmeal, huh?" then she ruffled his hair in a playful manner. "I don't see why not." Comet let out a smile giggle at the ruffle of his hair. He hopped off her lap before Rainbow climbed off the bed and took his hand into hers. Rainbow turned at him with a smile. "Alright, bud. Let's make you some breakfast," With that said, the two began to walk out of the room and they descended the stairs. When they arrived at the living room, Rainbow Dash turned to look at Comet once again. "Comet, how about you stay here while I go to the kitchen to make your oatmeal. You can take a seat on the couch," she smiled down at him. "O-Okay, Rainbow," Comet replied with a nod as he went to the couch and took a seat. Rainbow smiled at him for a moment before walking into the kitchen to make breakfast for Comet. While she was making his breakfast, couldn't stop thinking about Comet Moonstone. He was a very sweet, cool and polite kid; on the other hand, she could tell that he is very shy and gets scared around new people due for yesterday's accident with the hyper pink girl. He reminded her of Fluttershy when they were kids. Also, she wondered if Comet has an family. It is strange and heartbreaking for a child to be alone in a alley. Judging by how Comet is very shy, she thought that the boy has been through a lot, but decided not to question him until he was ready. Something was definately wrong. 'Where are his parents?' Rainbow Dash thought to herself as she added the final touches to the bowl of oatmeal. Rainbow walked over to the kitchen table and placed the bowl in the table with a spoon. "Comet, breakfast's ready," Rainbow called out. Hearing her voice, Comet hopped off the couch and walked towards the kitchen. Once he arrived at the kitchen, Comet gently climbed up into the chair and took the spoon from the bowl. "I hope you enjoy your oatmeal, kiddo. I added some fruit to make it 20% Tasty," she gave him a wink. Comet smiled at her before dipping his spoon into the bowl, scooped some oatmeal out, and ate it. As he chewed, he could tase the sweetness of the honey as well the juiciness of the fruit. The oatmeal was indeed 20% Tasty. Even though he didn't know what she meant by 20%. Comet swallowed his first bite and smiled a little more brightly at Rainbow Dash. "Mmm... This oatmeal is real good, Rainbow. Thank you," "No problemo, amigo," Rainbow said as she gave Comet a thumbs up. He smiled up at her and continued to eat his oatmeal. When Comet finished his breakfast, Rainbow put the dish in the sink and began to wash the dish. 'She is so nice to me. Rainbow is just like my auntie,' Comet thought to himself, but then he lowered his head in sadness. 'I miss my auntie,' Comet carefully got up and gently backed away from Rainbow, heading towards the living room. Having finished with washing the dish, Rainbow turned around and walked over to Comet. But before she was able to do so, Comet wasn't in the kitchen anymore, 'Hmm, maybe he went to my room,' Rainbow thought to herself and walked in the direction toward the living room. However, when Rainbow Dash arrived at the living room, she saw Comet Moonstone sitting on the couch sniffling. Motherly instincts immediatly kicked in as Rainbow walked up to him and saw small tears rolling down his cheeks. "What's the matter, buddy?" Rainbow asked, worry filling her voice. Comet looked up at her with sad eyes, tears still streaming down his cheeks. "Y-You've been s-so n-nice to me," he said between sobs. "B-Besides my a-auntie, n-nobody has ever b-been n-nice to m-me." Even though she disliked being soft, Rainbow couldn't help but feel bad for the child. At the same time, a thought of curiosity came across her mind when he mentioned his aunt. She decided to ask him later. This is not the right moment. Rainbow sat down next to Comet and put him on her lap. "Comet, is something wrong?" Rainbow gently asked as she looked at him with a look of worry. Comet remained silent. "Come on, tell Rainbow what's wrong," she said while rubbing his arms. "R-Rainbow, d-do you t-think I'm a m-mistake?" Comet asked as Rainbow continued to rub his arms. Her eyes widened when she heard that question. "Heck no! I don't think you're a mistake. I only think you're a cool kid with a big future, why in the world would you think something like that?" Rainbow asked. Comet began to tremble and his sobbing began to grow harder. "M-My d-daddy c-calls me a m-mistake a-and h-he says that I s-should have n-never born," Comet said in a sad, broken tone. Rainbow let out a gasp of shock. 'Wait, what!?' "M-My mo-mommy d-died when she h-had m-me a-and m-my auntie d-died in a c-car accident a-a-and m-my d-daddy s-says it's all m-my f-fault!" Comet continued, his sobbing growing harder. "Say WHAT?!" Rainbow exclaimed in shock, but not too loud in order to not scare the kid. Comet's mother died while giving birth to him and his aunt died in a car accident, but how could his father say such a cruel thing? "M-My d-daddy y-yells at m-me, he c-calls me n-names and h-he... h-he h-hits me w-wi-with..." Comet couldn’t finish. Instead, he buried his head into Rainbow's neck and began to cry. Still shocked by his answer, Rainbow Dash wrapped her arms around Comet and held his trembling body close to her. She closed her eyes and gave Comet a soft and motherly kiss on his forehead. Now Rainbow knew the reason why Comet Moonstone was so scared around people. As she held Comet close to her, Rainbow noticed something underneath his T shirt. Without disturbing the crying boy in her arms, she very carefully lifted up the T shirt from his back. What she saw made her gasp in shock. There were several bruises on his back, some of them were big, some of them were red and some of them were turning purple. She remained calm on the outside, but on the inside she was seething with bloody anger. How could a father do such a thing to his own son? To his own blood? How could he beat him, insult him and blame him for something he even didn't cause? How could he be so cruel to him? Rainbow's anger started to cool down when she looked down at Comet Moonstone who was still crying. She began making a soft hushing sound to calm him down. Comet's crying reduced to sobs and then to sniffles as he brought his head out of Rainbow's neck. Rainbow placed her hands on his shoulders. "Comet, I'm very sorry that your father did all those things to you. Please believe me when I say it's not your fault your mother died, but guess what?" Comet looked at her with curiosity, the tears still on his face. Rainbow gave him a warm, reassuring smile. "You can live with me." Comet said nothing as he gave Rainbow a sad smile. Rainbow gently brushed the tears with her hand before giving him another kiss on his forehead. "Do you feel better?" Rainbow asked, giving him another gentle smile. "Yes. Thank you, Rainbow Dash," Comet replied before wrapping his arms around her waist. With a motherly smile, she began to stroke his hair in response. "I'm glad you feel better, Comet." Just then, Rainbow remembered what she was going to do today. "Hey Comet, how about you take a shower before we leave to visit my friends?" Comet Moonstone was a bit hesitant, but he gave her a gentle nod in agreement. With nothing left to say, Rainbow took Comet’s hand into hers and both went upstairs. 'Don't worry, Comet. I will take care of you.' > Sugarcube Corner > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Rainbow Dash was getting dressed for the day, she couldn't stop thinking about what Comet said earlier. It really shocked her how the boy has been through a lot. Rainbow cringed at the thought of Comet being hit by his father. 'What kind of person does that to his own son?' Rainbow let out a sad sigh, then she furrowed her brows in anger. 'If I ever meet that jerk...' Then all of a sudden another thought came across her mind. An very interesting thought that could help Comet, yet at the same time she wasn't sure if she would be ready for that. She needed to discuss it with her friends. After tying her boots, Rainbow exited her room and went to the door of the bathroom. "Comet, are you done?" Rainbow asked as she knocked on the bathroom door. "Yes, I am done," Comet replied from behind the door. When Comet said that, he walked out of the bathroom wearing his new clothes that Rarity made for him. His new clothes consisted of a cyan long sleeved T shirt with dark blue sleeves, a new pair of male denim shorts and blue shoes with green lining. Comet looked up at her with a small smile. "H-How do I look?" Rainbow smiled and gave him a thumbs up. "You look awesome little guy." Comet blushed at her compliment as Rainbow took his hand into hers. "Are you ready, Comet?" she asked, giving him another smile. Comet nodded in reply and the pair went downstairs, walked toward the door and exited the house to made their journey towards Sugarcube Corner. After walking for thirty minutes, the two arrived at Sugarcube Corner where Rainbow saw her friends, minus Pinkie Pie, sitting at a nearby table, drinking some smoothies. The girls smiled and waved at the duo. Rainbow waved back with a smile and she turned to look at Comet with that same smile. "Alright, buddy, what would you like to eat," she asked. Comet smiled up at her. "I-I would like a v-vanilla ice c-cream cone, Rainbow." "Vanilla is then." Rainbow said before ruffling his hair. "How about you sit with the girls while I get your ice cream?" He nodded. "Okay, Rainbow." Rainbow gave him another smile before walking up to the counter to buy Comet's ice cream. Meanwhile, the child made his way towards the table with a small, friendly smile. Comet Moonstone lifted his hand and waved. "H-Hi there." "Hello there, Comet," Sunset smiled down at the little colt. A beaming smile crept across Rarity's face. "Oh my, Comet! You look absolutely dashing!" "I agree with Rarity, ya look great feller," Applejack smiled warmly at him. A rosy blush appeared Comet's cheeks. "Thank you, Rarity. Thank you, Applejack." Rarity gave him a warm smile and patted her lap. "Come here, darling. You can sit on my lap." Comet blushed once again as he walked over to her and carefully sat on her lap. "Do you like your new clothes, dear?" Rarity sweetly asked. He looked up at her with a light smile. "Y-Yes, Rarity, I r-really like them. T-Thank you." "Hey, sweetheart, may can you tell me how old are you?" Twilight asked with a bright smile. "I am s-six years o-old," Comet replied, returning the smile. A few moments later, Rainbow walked up towards the table, holding Comet's ice cream cone. "There you go, buddy, a vanilla cone," she said as she handed his cone to him. With a thankful smile, Comet kindly took the ice cream cone and Rainbow Dash took a seat beside Rarity. "Sup, guys," Rainbow greeted with a friendly smile. "Hello, Rainbow," the girls greeted back, returning the smile. However, the smile of the rainbow haired athlete vanished. Instead, she had a look of confusion because of the absence of a certain party gal. "Umm, guys, where's Pinkie Pie?" she asked. When Comet Moonstone heard the name of that crazy girl, an insecure look spread across his face. "Oh, she said she was going to give a gift for the little one," Fluttershy explained in her usual soft voice. "Speaking of which," Sunset began. "Pinkie told us what happened yesterday." Applejack nodded in agreement. "Yeah, she said that things didn't go well between her and the little feller." At this point, Rarity noticed the look in the face of the little colt. "What is the matter, little one?" Rarity softly asked. Rainbow Dash knew what was bothering the little colt. She reached out a hand and rubbed his left shoulder. "Don't worry, bud. I promise nothing bad will happen this time." Fluttershy gave Comet a motherly smile. "Rainbow is right, Comet. We know Pinkie can be umm... Loud. But she is a very kind person." Comet only smiled a little as he finished his ice cream. "Did someone said my name?" a cheerful voice asked. Everyone in the table turned to look at the source of the voice. Standing in front of them was noneother than Pinkie Pie sporting a very happy smile with her hands behind her back. But when Comet saw Pinkie, he immediately hugged tighly Rarity, buried his head on her shoulder and began to shake nervously. He feared that Pinkie would do the same just like she did yesterday. "Awww, darling, don't be scared," Rarity said with a reassuring smile as she rubbed his back. "Pinkie only wants to talk with you." Comet slowly lifted his head off her shoulder and the girls gave him a reassuring smile as a signal of "everything will be fine". After Rainbow said to him more reassuring words, Comet nervously hopped off Rarity's lap and walked towards the wild party gal. Meanwhile, Pinkie now had a more calmer smile and instead of bouncing like she usually does, she gently bent down to his level. "Hi, Comet Moonstone, it's great to meet you! I'm Pinkie Pie!" she said cheerful, yet calm tone. Then she pulled him into a big hug and gave him a sweet kiss on the forehead. "I'm VERY sorry about yesterday! I was trying to be your friend, but Pinkie was being a mean meanie pants to you instead! Would you forgive me?" Comet looked up at Pinkie, apparently his nervousness vanished but not completely. He looked into her cyan eyes and saw that she was telling the truth. Despite her bubbliness, Pinkie meant every single word she said. He softly smiled as he wrapped his arms around her neck. "I-I forgive you, Pinkie. I w-want to be your f-friend too." Pinkie smiled brightly at the little child before resting her chin on the top of his head. Then she pulled out a cupcake from her fluffly hair and handed it over to him. "Here yo go wittle cutie," she gave him one last kiss on the forehead. Comet kindly took the cupcake and gave her a soft smile. "Thank you, Pinkie." Happy that Comet was now starting to warm up to Pinkie Pie, Rainbow smiled. "See, sweetheart, there's no need to be afraid of Pinkie," Fluttershy said, giving Comet a soft smile. Suddenly, Pinkie let out a dramatic and loud gasp as a beaming smile washed over her face. "I have a great idea!" she screamed, but not very loud to not scare the child. The girls looked at her in confusion while Comet also looked but of curiosity. "Pinkie, I don't think is a good idea planning a surprise party for Comet," Sunset said. "He might get scared." Applejack nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Yer gonna give a heart attack to the little critter." Pinkie giggled and shook her head. "I won't do a surprise party, silly billies. What do you think if we have a sleepover tonight with our new best friend, Comet Moonstone." "Hey, I like the idea. Sides, there's no school for three weeks," Rainbow said and gave a bright smile at Comet. "What do you think, buddy? Wanna have a sleepover with us?" Comet couldn't help but smile. Even though he recently became friends with them, they already invited him to a sleepover. Comet wrapped his arms around Rainbow's waist. "Y-Yes, I would like that." This earned a "d'awwww" from everybody. Even Rainbow Dash who gently stroked his hair with a soft smile. "A sleepover is then," Sunset said, clapping her hands together. "We'll do it in my house." Fluttershy placed her hand on her shoulder. "Oh, Sunset, you don't have to-" "I insist, Fluttershy," Sunset flashed her a reasurring smile. "You're my friends after all." With that, the day passed without any kind of incident and the group enjoyed a calm midday. As for Rainbow, she still had in mind the idea from earlier. The sleepover is a perfect chance to discuss it with her friends. 'Even if I'm young, I wonder if fit for the position?' > Confession of the Rainbow > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night time came. With the sun gone to rest and the moon taking it's place, the vast ocean of blackness that engulfed the city of Canterlot was freckled with beautiful shining stars. Inside of the rainbow haired athlete house, Rainbow Dash and Comet Moonstone were getting prepared for the slumber party at Sunset's house. The little guy, as Rainbow puts it, was waiting for her in the living room, sitting in the sofa while the athlete was getting changed upstairs for the party. A few minutes later, Rainbow walked down the stairs, wearing a different sleep wear and holding a blue sleeping bag with a rainbow lightning bolt. She was clad in a white loose raglan T shirt with red sleeves and a rainbow lightning bolt coming from a cloud in the center of the T shirt, and blue capri leggings. As for Comet, he was still wearing the same clothes from early in the day. However, Rarity told both that she will make new sleeping clothes for Comet tonight, so he won't look like an outsider from the party. "Are you ready, little guy?" Rainbow smiled warmly at him. Comet gave her a nod in reply as he smiled up at her. But then, Rainbow looked at him with a look of curiosity. "Hey, buddy, may I ask you something?" Rainbow asked as she took a seat beside him. Comet simply nodded. "O-Okay." "You told me yesterday that you didn't have any friends. How come you don't have a friend?" Rainbow asked with that same curious look. Comet sighed deeply and gave her a sad look. "Well, i-it just other kids would p-pick on me for being shy and smaller than t-them." Rainbow frowned at this. If there's one thing that she hated with pure passion besides losing a game, it's bullies. When bullies would pick on Fluttershy or anyone else, Rainbow Dash always came to the rescue. "Geez, bud, sorry about that," Rainbow gave him a look of sympathy. "But t-that's not a-all," Comet continued as tears began to form on his eyes. "W-When I told my d-daddy about what was going on, h-he called me w-weak and a c-crybaby." With a comforting smile, Rainbow wrapped her right arm around Comet and pulled him to her side. "Listen, Comet, you're not weak and neither a crybaby," Rainbow softly said. "Don't let words like that to get you because I know you're a strong kid. If someone wants to harm you, I will be there to protect you." Comet gave her a soft smile and returned the gesture by wrapping his little arms around her waist. Rainbow was smiling on the outside at him, but in the inside, she seethed with anger at Comet's so called father. Rainbow's anger started to cool down and her smile formed into a playful smirk. "You know something, Comet? Instead of you having to walk all the way to Sunset's house with me, I have a fun and much better idea." Comet looked at her in curiousity. "What it is?" Rainbow slung her sleeping bag over her left shoulder before crouching down to face her back toward Comet. "Okay, Comet, just wrap your arms around my neck," she said with that same smirk. Comet softly smiled and he hopped off the sofa, walking towards her. He carefully wrapped his arms around Rainbow's neck as she gently picked him up from under his legs. "Don't fall asleep during the road," Rainbow softly chuckled. Comet giggled at her joke. "Okay, Rainbow." The two exited the house and Rainbow shut the door. With the child on her shoulders, Rainbow began to walk along the sidewalk, heading towards the house of the flame haired gal. Arriving at a large building, Rainbow Dash walked into an elevator and and crouched down to let Comet hop off her back. Rainbow pressed the button marked 7 while Comet smiled at her. Rainbow returned the smile and ruffled his hair a little bit. In what seemed like just a few minutes, the elevator arrived at it’s destination and the two stepped off the elevator. Heading towards a door marked G5, Rainbow Dash knocked on the door. The door opened to reveal Sunset Shimmer who had a smile on her face. Like Rainbow, she was wearing her sleep clothes which consisted of a long sleeved magenta T Shirt with the symbol of a sun in the center and matching sweatpants. "Hey guys," Sunset greeted as she stepped aside to let them in. "Come in." Rainbow did as she was told and Sunset gave the child a friendly smile as he entered. "Hi again, S-Sunset," Comet looked at her with a soft smile. "What's up, little guy," Sunset greeted with a warm smile as she ruffled his hair playfully. "Are you ready for the party?" Comet slightly nodded in affirmation. "Yes." "Good," Sunset said before turning towards the room, but then, she stopped and looked at Comet again. "Oh, by the way, Rarity put your pajamas on the bathroom. Is in front of my room." Comet smiled and looked up at Rainbow who gave him a nod that meant it was okay. Without saying any word, the child went towards the bathroom to get changed for the party. Just then, Rarity came out from Sunset's room and when her eyes were fixed Rainbow, she smiled. Her sleeping clothes consited of a purple night gown with a cyan ribbon and three diamonds. "Hello, Rainbow," Rarity greeted with a warm smile. "Is Comet ready?" "Almost," Rainbow Dash gave her a confident smirk. "Why don't we go to the room while Comet is getting changed," Sunset said, smiling at the two, Both girls nodded and the three walked towards the room while Comet was getting changed. Inside of Sunset's room, Fluttershy, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie and Applejack were already there, sitting around the carpet. "Sup, guys," Rainbow greeted as she entered the room with Sunset and Rarity. "Hello, Rainbow," the girls greeted back. Sunset Shimmer sat beside Twilight and gave her a warm smile. "Ready for your first sleepver?" she asked. Twilight nodded and smiled back. "You have no idea how exited I am. Especially with a little guest here." Rarity, meanwhile, had a big smile on her face which was noticed by the others. "Umm, Rarity, what's so funny," Applejack raised an eyebrown. "You'll see," the fashionista replied followed by a cute giggle. A few moments later, Comet walked out of the bathroom and stopped in the doorway of the room. The girls turned to see the newly dressed child as Rarity and Fluttershy gasped in great delight. "Awwww! Comet, darling, you look so cute!" Rarity said with a big smile. Comet was wearing a raccoon themed footed pajamas with a hoodie which also had raccoon ears. Everyone d'awwed as well at the boy. Comet Moonstone could only be described as = Kawaii. 'Oh, so adorable,' Rainbow thought to herself while putting her hand on her heart. "Does it feel soft and warm, dear?" Rarity soflty asked. Comet smiled. "I really like it, Rarity. Thank you." Just as he said that, Comet walked up to her and wrapped his little arms around her. "Awww, you are very welcome, Comet," Rarity returned the hug. Sunset walked towards the door, carefully closed it and sighed warmly. "Well, shall we start the fun?" she asked with a smile. They all nodded their heads in affirmation. To start things off, the girls and Comet watched two movies on Sunset's flat-screen television. The first movie was about a homeless orange kitten who joins a gang of friendly dogs to survive in the streets and the second was about a flock of sheeps going to the big city to rescue their farmer. Afterwards, they got a delicious pepperoni pizza for dinner. Rainbow got a big slice of pizza, however, she instead took a normal slice and gave the big slice to Comet who kindly took the slice with a "Thank you". Midnight came around as the girls and the child were back at Sunset's room watching an anime about a pink puffball who has the ability to absorb the powers of his enemies which Fluttershy thought it was cute. As the anime ended, Comet let out a soft yawn, catching the attention of the girls. "Oh, someone is getting sleepy," Sunset softly smirked. Comet nodded in reply, but then, the girls looked at him with a mischievous smile. Suddenly, Rainbow, Sunset and Applejack dug their fingers into Comet's armpits while Rarity, Fluttershy, Twilight and Pinkie begab to rub his belly up and down. Comet Moonstone couldn't hold his laughter as the girls continued their "attack" on him. Tears of happiness and joy started to form on Comet's eyes as the girls smiled warmly at the laughting child. "Alright guys, I think our little raccoon had enought," Sunset said, giving the kid a big smile afterwards. "T-That was fun," Comet panted softly from the tickling attack torture with a small smile. But then, he let out a yawn. "I got this, guys," Rainbow said with a soft smile before turning to look at Comet. Rainbow carefully scooped him up in her arms and started to softly rock him as Comet let out another soft yawn. Rainbow began to stroke his hair soothingly and the child went to sleep peacefully in her arns. Without distubing his slumber, Rainbow placed him on her sleeping bag as the rest of the Rainbooms watched on. The girls smiled at Comet's sleeping form with his small chest rising and falling with a reassuring rhythm. "He's such a sweet little kid," Fluttershy softly said with a warm smile, earning a nod from everyone in agreement. "I would like to eat him with kisses," Twilight smiled brightly. Everything was pleasant until a uncommon look of sadness came across Rainbow's face. The girls, of course, noticed this and Sunset was the first to spear to her. "Rainbow, what's the matter?" she asked, her voice filled with concern. Rainbow Dash looked at the girls and let out a sad sigh. "Guys, I found out what happened to Comet's parents." The Rainbooms looked at each other in concern before turning to look at Rainbow. "Comet was abused by his father," Rainbow spoke the sad truth. "WHAT!?" they gasped in unison, but not aloud to not wake up the child. "Comet told me everything today. His mother died when she gave birth to him, his aunt died on a car crash and his father told him that it was his fault that his mother and aunt died," Rainbow explained as she allowed a single tear to roll down her cheek. "And the worst part is that his father has yelled at him, insulted him and physically beaten him. I found many bruises on his back. What kind of person could do something like that to a little boy?" at this point, angry tears had begun to flood her eyes. When Rainbow finished, a look of utter sadness etched across their faces and everyone had tears in their eyes. Pinkie's hair deflated and started to cry, but Fluttershy immediately pulled her into a comforting hug. Applejack, who has a close bond with her family, was understandably outraged. She wanted to charge into Comet's house to give a good darned beating to that poor excuse of a father right now. "Oh, the poor little darling," Rarity said, allowing her tears to flow freely. Sunset Shimmer walked up to Rainbow and wrapped her arms around her. "You have no idea how lucky is Comet to have you," the flame haired gal said with a sad smile. Rainbow only smiled at her before brushing her tears away and returning the hug. "If I may ask, what do we do with the child?" Twilight softly asked. "I mean, he can't come back to his father after what happened." "I know the solution," Rainbow suddenly spoke up, catching the attention of the others. Applejack raised her eyebrow as she crossed her arms. "What do ya have in mind, Dash?" Rainbow Dash closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "I’ve been thinking about this and I believe this is the right decision. Even thought I met him two days ago, I started to see Comet more than a friend. I may be young, but I would like to adopt Comet as my son." Fluttershy, Sunset Shimmer and Pinkie Pie, whose hair poofed back to normal, smiled brightly at the idea. However, Twilight, Rarity and Applejack gave her a concerned look. "Rainbow, Ah'm proud of ya in adopting the little feller, but are ya sure can handle it?" the farm girl said, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I agree with Applejack on this," Rarity said with that same look of worry. "You've never taken care of a child before." "Let alone that parenthood is a great responsibility and a fulfilling one," Twilight added. "I won’t know if I don’t try, right?" Rainbow felt her pride flow freely. "I’m very aware that I'm very young for motherhood, but I just want to help Comet. I want to give him a good home where he can be happy." With little hesitation, Twilight, Rarity and Applejack nodded in understanding. "I think it's a wonderful idea," Fluttershy smiled warmly at Rainbow. "I would do the same if I were the one who found Comet." A big grin crept across Pinkie Pie's face. "Hey, if you're going to be Comet's new Mommy, does that mean we can be his Aunties?" Rainbow felt her heart melt at this and gave them an affimative nod. "I don't see why not. You're my friends after all." "Yippee!" Pinkie cheered and without waking up the child, she quietly bounced, earning a giggle from the girls. "Well, Ah wouldn't mind being Comet's Aunt," Applejack smiled. "Just call me Auntie Fluttershy," Fluttershy said with a giggle. Sunset let out a soft yawn. "Well, guys, I think it's time to get some shuteye. It's getting late." Everybody nodded in agreement, allowing a yawn to escape from their mouths. With that, The Rainbooms walked up to their respective sleeping bags. Rainbow laid down beside Comet and gave him a soft kiss on his forehead with a motherly smile. "Goodnight, guys," Sunset softly whispered. "Goodnight, Sunset," the others whispered in reply as they drifted off to sleep. The light of the moon shined through the window and it's beam of warmth showered the group with comfort. Unbeknownst to everybody, a small smile formed on Comet's face when Rainbow kissed him. 'Goodnight, Comet. I promise to be the best Mom I can be for you.' > True Friends > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dawn began to break as the warm and pleasant glow of the sun's rays blanketed the city of Canterlot. Despite being very early in the morning, The Rainbooms and their little friend, Comet Moonstone, were starting to wake up. Rainbow Dash started to stir in her sleep before letting out a loud yawn. She gave herself a good stretch, letting out a content sigh afterwards. Rainbow looked around the room to see that the girls were already gone. She turned her head to look at Comet sleeping peacefully by her side. With a soft smile, Rainbow gently nudged her elbow against him. Comet softly yawned and blinked his eyes open. The first thing that Comet saw was the smiling face of Rainbow Dash. "G-Good morning, Rainbow," Comet said between yawns. "Good morning, kiddo," Rainbow said as she began to stroke his hair tenderly. "Did you sleep well last night?" Comet gave her a small nod, smiling softly at her. "Yes, I didn't have bad dreams." "Are you hungry? Applejack is in the kitchen preparing breakfast," Rainbow said, the smile never leaving her face. "Yes, I'm a little h-hungry," Comet said with another nod. With that being said, Rainbow stood up, stretching a little more as Comet did the same. She took Comet's hand into hers before the two walked together across the hallway, heading towards the kitchen. Arriving at the kitchen doorway, Rainbow and Comet saw that everyone were sitting around the island counter, eating breakfast which was courtesy of Applejack. "Morning, sleepy heads," Sunset said with a smile. "Morning, guys," Rainbow greeted back as she took a seat Fluttershy and Twilight. As for Comet, he sat down between her and Fluttershy. "G-Good morning, girls," Comet softly said, smiling at the girls. The Rainbooms smiled warmly at the little boy as Applejack walked over to him with a plate of hot cakes with apple syrup in her hands set it in front of him with a fork. "Howdy, little feller, Ah made ya some hot cakes with apple syrup. Ah hope ya enjoy it." Applejack gave him a wink. Comet returned the wink with a soft and small smile. He carefully picked up the fork, dug it into his meal and took a bite. Comet soflty smiled as he tasted the sweet flavor of his hot cakes. "T-Thank you, A-Applejack. It tastes very good," Comet said after he swallowed his first bite. Applejack smiled warmly. "Aww, ya are welcome, sugarcube." "Hey, little guy, did you enjoy the sleepover?" Sunset kindly asked. Comet gave her a happy nod. "Yes, it was fun. Thank you for inviting me." The girls d'awwed at boy, however, an important question came across their minds. If Comet was abused by his father, how he escaped from that horrible man? "Hey, buddy, can I ask you something more?" Rainbow Dash asked, earning a nod in response from the child. "Why you were alone in that alley when I found you?" At hearing that question, Comet's smile turned into a frown at the meaning of his father and lowered his head. He trembled a little as he closed his eyes. "I-I ran a-away," he replied. The Rainbooms were silent as they exchanged looks of concern, but they knew one thing. There's no way in Tartarus they were going to let Comet come back with that poor excuse of a father. He deserves a better home. Comet looked up at them with worried look. "Y-You won't s-send m-me back t-to my d-daddy?" "Heck no!" the girls said in unison, even Rarity who seldomly uses that word. Rainbow wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a soft hug. The girls also joined, pulling the colt in a group hug. "We are not going to send you back to your father, Comet," Fluttershy soothingly said. Twilight gave him a motherly smile. "You deserve to be with someone who makes you happy." Pinkie Pie vigorously nodded with a happy smile. "Yeah! You should be happy instead of living with that mean meanie pants!" "Ya deserve a better home, feller," Applejack added, patting his shoulder. "Indeed, dear, Rainbow told us that you were abused and mistreated by your father," Rarity said with a sad look. "Exactly, we are so sorry for everything that you've been through," Sunset said with the girls nodding in agreement. "You're lucky to have a friend like Rainbow Dash," she finished with a sad smile. "She's right, Comet," Rainbow said as she pulled him close to her. "Remember what I told you before, you're not weak and neither a crybaby. In fact, your father is the weak here for telling you those cruel things. Don't forget that I always be there to protect you." The child looked at Rainbow and then at the girls who were smiling reassuringly at him. Comet softly smiled at them in return. "T-Thank you, g-girls." "Now, that's the smile I wanted to see!" Sunset happily said. After finishing breakfast, it was time for the group to part ways. Applejack returned to the farm to attend the family business, Fluttershy and Rarity went to their weekly spa visit, Pinkie Pie went to Sugarcube Corner to work, Twilight returned to her house, Sunset stayed at the appartment and Rainbow and Comet returned to the prismatic athlete's house. However, our rainbow haired friend had another plan in mind for today. During their treek through the streets of Canterlot, Comet, who was still wearing his raccoon pajamas, catched the attention of many girls who d'awwed at boy. Comet noticed this and blushed while Rainbow giggled. Rainbow Dash looked down at the child with a friendly smile as they continued walking down the road. "Hey, Comet, did your Auntie ever took you to the park?" Comet looked up at her and nodded. "Yes, she always took me to the park every weekend. Why?" Rainbow's smile grew. "Oh, well, I was wondering if we could go to the park. What do you think, buddy?" Comet gasped and then he gave her a happy smile. "That sounds like fun, Rainbow!" Rainbow Dash let out a light hearted laugh at his happiness as she playfully ruffled his hair. "Alright, it is settled then, but first let's go to my house to get prepared," she said, giving him another warm smile. "Okay," Comet nodded in reply. With that being said, the duo continued to make their treek towards Rainbow's house. When the two arrived at the house, Rainbow and Comet began to get prepared for their day at the park. Or rather, a great day together. > A Great Day Together > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The city was enjoying another beautiful day beneath the pure blue canvas. The sun was shining brightly and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky to obscure the sun. The air was fresh and the shiny green grass glistened in the sun. Rainbow Dash, with a gym bag strapped over her left shoulder, arrived at a large park located in the heart of the city after a few minutes of walking throught Canterlot while giving Comet Moonstone a piggyback ride. "Well, we're here," Rainbow said before she bent her knees down to let the child climb off her back. She turned to look at him with a bright smile. "Okay, where do we start, buddy?" Comet looked at a set of swings, a small smile crept across his face and sighed. "When my Auntie brought me to the park, she used to push me on the swings," he said before turning to look at the athlete. "Rainbow, can you push me on the swings?" Rainbow chuckled and ruffled his hair tenderly. "Sure. I don't see why not." The little kid giggled at the head ruffle and the two walked towards the a set of swings. Comet carefully climbed on the swing and shifted himself to get comfortable. Rainbow held the chains of the swing, took a few steps backwards and pushed forward. As the swing returned, she gave a slightly stronger push and let him swing back and forth. "Wheeee!" Comet cheered with a happy smile, swinging back and forth. Rainbow Dash smirked, deciding to join the fun. She took off her gym bag and walked over to the swing next to Comet and jumped on it. Holding the chains, she moved herself back and forth, but unlike Comet, she was at a rapid pace and steadily going higher. "Hey, Comet! Watch this!" Rainbow called, still swinging. Comet stopped his swing and looked at her in curiosity. Once Rainbow was high on the air, she stood up on the swing, jumped off from it and performed a perfect somersault in mid-air. She landed safely on her feet and gave Comet the victory hand sign. "Whoa!" Comet rose from the swing and began to clap his hands at her impressive stunt. "I know. Pretty cool, right?" Rainbow gave him a soft smirk. "That was amazing! How can you do it?" Comet innocently asked, walking towards her. Rainbow grinned and patted him on the shoulder. "Fruits and vegetables, kiddo. Fruits and vegetables." "Oh, okay," Comet said, nodding in understanding. In their next game, Rainbow was doing some pull ups on the chin-up bar while Comet watched in amusement. Rainbow did the pulls ups thirty times in a row without breaking a sweat. Rainbow released the bar and landed safetly on her feet. "Yep. Awesome as always," she said, streching her arms. "Umm, can I do it, Rainbow?" Comet asked, smiling up at her. Rainbow returned the smile with one of her own and shrugged. "Alright, bud. Show me what you can do." Comet walked underneath the bar and jumped to catch the bar, but he couldn't reach the bar due to his height. "Oh, wait. Let me help you." Just then, Rainbow slided her arms under Comet's armpits and lifted him up towards the metal bar. Comet held the bar and he turned to look at Rainbow with a bright smile. Rainbow smiled as well and gave him a thumbs up in return. Next up, Rainbow and Comet were at the soccer court of the park. Rainbow walked up towards the center of the soccer court as the child followed behind her. Once they were at the center of the court, Rainbow Dash put her gym bag on the floor and crouched down to it's level. She unzipped her bag, pulling out her beloved soccer ball. Rainbow turned to look at Comet, holding the ball against her hip. "Alright, Comet, the main rule of soccer is to score by getting the ball into the goalpost. To do this you must use your feet to strike or pass the ball, you can also use your head or torso to do so instead." "Okay," Comet said, nodding in understanding. "Ah-ah-ah. Not so fast, buddy," Rainbow said as she waved her finger. "It may sound easy, but it isn't." "Is not easy?" Comet inquired, a look of confusion crept across his face. The rainbow haired athlete shook her head. "Nope. There's a player whose role is to prevent you from scoring goals. It's called the defender," Rainbow explained, juggling the soccer ball with her right knee. "Mhm," Comet nodded, wanting to know more. "But it's not only the defender. There's also the goalkeeper whose role is to protect the goalpost so you can't score goals," Rainbow continued further with her lesson. "When you strike the ball into the goalpost, the goalkeepers will either catching it or directing it away. Also, the goalkeepers are the only players who can touch the ball with their hands or arms." "Whoa, you're an expert on this, Rainbow," Comet said with a innocent smile. Rainbow let out a light hearted chuckle. "Well, I'm just that awesome. Check this out." When the ball was on the air, Rainbow Dash jumped and gave the ball a mighty kick while doing a perfect backflip. The ball head straight for the goalpost at the other side of the court like a bullet and striking it with fierce force. Comet stared at Rainbow with wide eyes, surprised at the play that she performed. "And that's only the beggining," Rainbow Dash gave him a confident smirk. "I'll be right back," she said before sprinting towards the goalpost to pick up the ball. Time passed by as Comet Moonstone has the time of his life playing soccer with Rainbow. Since Comet was just a little child, Rainbow decided to go easy on him instead, even going as far as to let him score a goal. After how Comet had it rough with his so-called father, Rainbow Dash couldn't help but smile warmly at seeing how happy Comet was now. In just three days, the two already developed a close mother and son bond and Rainbow simply couldn't wait to adopt Comet as her son. Their match ended in a 3 - 3 draw, but nevertheless they had smiles on their faces. Rainbow and Comet were sitting at a bench nearby the soccer court and drinking bottled cold water. Then Rainbow got up from the bench and stretched her limbs as Comet did the same. "Well, Comet, that's all for today. But don't worry, we can have more fun tomorrow," Rainbow said with a gentle smile. "Okay, Rainbow," Comet nodded. "Rainbow Dash!" suddenly, a young female voice called out. Rainbow immediately recognized the voice and turned to look at the source with a friendly smirk. Comet, however, was startled by the new voice and hid behind Rainbow. A ten years old girl was coming towards them, riding on a scooter. She had short purple hair, purple eyes and orange skin. Also, she was wearing a short sleeve black leather jacket with cyan lining, green baggy shorts and black boots. "What's up, Scoots!" Rainbow greeted as the two shared high five followed by a fist bumb. "How's my little sister doing?" "I'm doing good, big sister!" Scootaloo replied with a cheerful grin. "Watcha doing, Rainbow?" Rainbow casually wrapped her arm around her. "Meh, nothing much. Just hanging out with my little buddy." A look of confusion etched across Scootaloo's face. Before she could ask about the "little buddy", Scootaloo saw the child hiding behind Rainbow's leg who had a look of shyness. "Rainbow, who's the little guy? Is he your little brother?" Scootaloo asked. "Oh, him? Nah, he's just a friend," Rainbow smiled softly at Comet and stepped aside to reveal him. She placed her hands on his shoulders. "Comet, I want you to meet Scootaloo. She's my awesome surrogate little sister," Rainbow then looked at Scootaloo with that same smile. "Scootaloo, this little buddy is Comet Moonstone. I'll be taking care of him for a while. Say hello, Comet." Comet gave a slight wave, smiling lightly at her. "H-Hi, Scootaloo. I-It's nice to m-meet you too." Scootaloo hopped off her scooter and gave the child a friendly smile. "Well, hey there, Comet! It's nice to meetcha! You don't need to be scared of me, any friend of Rainbow Dash is also my friend," she greeted before looking at Rainbow. "I didn't know you worked as a babysitter, Rainbow." "Actually, Scootaloo, I'm not working as a babysitter," Rainbow corrected as she wrapped her arm around Comet who had sad frown. "Huh?" Scootaloo tilted her head in confusion. Rainbow looked down at the kid with a sad look. "Comet, it's alright if I tell her?" Comet gave her a simple nod in reply. "Well, Scoots, the truth is..." Rainbow explained to her surrogate little sister how she meet Comet. As well how his mother and auntie died and when he was abused by his father. After Rainbow explained the child's tale to Scootaloo, Comet allowed small tears to roll down his checks. Rainbow Dash placed a comfoting hand on his shoulder and began to softly rub it. Scootaloo's feeling were mixed. She was shocked to hear of what Comet went through and at the same time she felt bad for the little colt. "Jeez, buddy, I'm sorry you had to go through that," Scootaloo gave him a sympathetic look. "I-It's okay, S-Scootaloo," Comet said, wiping his tears and smiled softly at Rainbow. "I-I'm living w-with Rainbow now." Rainbow Dash chuckled and gave him a warm smile in return. Scootaloo walked up to Comet and patted his shoulder with a grin. "Trust me in this, Comet. Rainbow Dash is the best friend you ever find. Although you probably found it out already." Comet smiled and pulled her into a hug. Scootaloo returned the hug without a moment of hesitation. 'You have no idea how right you are,' Rainbow thought to herself, smiling at the two. "Well, Comet, say goodbye to Scootaloo. We need to go back home." "Okay," Comet nodded at her before looking at Scootaloo. "G-Goodbye, Scootaloo. It was nice to meet y-you." "It was nice to meet you too, Comet," Scootaloo said, ruffling his hair. She then looked at her older sister. "See ya tomorrrow, Rainbow." "See ya tomorrow, Scoots," Rainbow said as the two shared another fist bumb. Scootaloo got on her scooter and rode away from them as Rainbow and Comet watched her go. Rainbow Dash looked down at the little colt with a smile. "Alright, bud, let's go home. Once we arrive, I'm going to make you the dinner. How does that sound?" "O-Okay, Rainbow," Comet replied with a warm smile before wrapping his arms her waist. Just then, four warm words came from Comet's mouth which melted Rainbow's heart completely. "I love you, Rainbow." Rainbow stood there, wide eyed and shocked, but she gave the kid a bright, motherly smile. Without hessitation, she kneeled down to his level and wrapped her arms around him. "Rainbow loves you too, Comet," she softly whispered into his ear. Rainbow turned around to face her back toward the child, motioning him climb on her back. Comet carefully wrapped his arms around Rainbow’s neck as she stood up, gently lifting him up from under his legs. With that, the two began their trek back to home. As Rainbow made her way towards her house, the blue sky was sinking into a light crimson hue. During the trek, Comet felt asleep on her back, just like the day when they meet, which made Rainbow chuckle. Once she arrived at her house, Rainbow opened the door and entered. Without distubing the sleeping child, Rainbow carefully placed him on the sofa. She took off her blue jacket and put it over Comet like a blanket, leaving her clothed only in her white tank top and the pink and white skirt with the short black leggings underneath. Rainbow gave him a soft kiss on the forehead before walking towards the kitchen to prepare the dinner. Suddenly, her cellphone started to rang from the pocket of her skirt. Rainbow pulled out her cellphone and looked at it. It was a call from Sunset Shimmer. She pressed the call button and held it against her ear. "Sup, Sunset?" "Rainbow, I got some news," Sunset's voice came in the other line and it sounded urgent. "Huh? What kind of news?" Rainbow inquired, raising an eyebrow as she entered the kitchen. "Umm, how do I put it?" The other line was silent for a few seconds until Sunset started to explain the news to her. "The police have found Comet's father and now he's on jail." Rainbow's eyes widened and felt a twinge of excitement at the news. "Really?" "Just as you heard," Sunset said. "However, you and Comet need to be at the trial. Maybe you can claim his custody once trial ends." Rainbow smiled, remaining silent for a moment before coming up with an question. "When is the trial?" "Two days. Don't worry we got your back, Rainbow, and Comet's too," Sunset said in determination. "Thanks, Sunset, but I need a lawyer for this," "Oh, that. Don't worry. We already covered that," Sunset said reassuringly. "I heard he's good at this." Rainbow Dash felt relieved. "Okay. Again, thanks for this, Sunset." "Hehe, don't mention it. I hope everything goes well," Sunset said, her voice sounded a little happy. "Me too." "Well, see ya tomorrow." "Same." Rainbow hung up her phone and let out a soft sigh. 'I really hope everything goes well. Most importantly for Comet.' > Morning Sunrise > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beams from the moon shone through the window of the room as Rainbow Dash was sleeping peacefully in her room with a pleasant smile plastered across her face. Save for her loud snoring, everything was awfully quiet until she was awoken to the sound of soft whimpering. Rainbow sat up in her bed, blinking a few times and letting out a big, loud yawn. She turned to see Comet Moonstone snuggled up against her, but the child was trembling and tears were rolling down his cheeks. "P-Please, d-don't leave m-me," Comet whimpered in his dream. Rainbow frowned and placed her hand over her heart at this sight. With a motherly smile, she bent her head down to his and whispered soothingly into his ear. "Shh... It's alright, buddy. Rainbow is here." Comet stirred a little, letting out a hiccup and blinking his eyes open. He looked up to see Rainbow smiling softly at him. "Oh, R-Rainbow. I-I am sorry i-if I woke you," Comet's lips quivered and lowered his head. Rainbow brushed away his tears and gave him a tender kiss on his forehead. "No, Comet, it's alright. There's nothing to be sorry of," she said reassuringly as she wrapped her arm around his shoulder. Comet remained silent, but wrapped his arms around her waist. Rainbow gently stroked his head and scooped him up into her arms, rocking him back and forth while murmuring words of comfort. "Did you have another bad dream?" Rainbow asked softly without ceasing her rocking. "Y-Yes," Comet nodded and hugged her tightly. "A really scary dream." "Can you tell me how it was?" Rainbow inquired, gently rubbing his belly. Comet took a deep, shuddering breath. "You-you were in it. It's a little hard to remember, but I knew you were there. And it was dark. Dark and scary and really foggy. L-Like my other d-dream, I-I was inside of a cage, I think. My legs were shackled too and it hurt was really hard. My head was hurting and it was pounding so much a lot so I almost couldn't think right." Rainbow didn't like how this dream was going, but she hummed in reply, bringing him closer to her chest. Tears began to roll down Comet's cheecks once again as he shuddered. "And-and you were far away, you were standing off somewhere. I was stuck, I couldn't move due to the chains. I was calling you, calling you, Rainbow Dash!" he whimpered, hiccuping. "You weren't answering, I tried to get up! You were walking away and not listening. I cried and I told you to come back, but you just left! And then it got darker, and you were gone." Rainbow Dash drew in a sharp breath on a gasp, breaking the hug to look at the kid. "I left you?" "Yes. You did!" Comet nodded solemnly and buried his head on her shoulder. "And I was really sad and I couldn't move! Why would you leave!?" he said as he began to sob. Rainbow shook her head hard, shushing his sobs. "No, no. Buddy, no, it was a dream. I would never, ever leave you like that," she said reassuringly, rubbing tenderly his back. Comet sniffed. "But..." "No buts, Comet," Rainbow said firmly, pulling back to look at the kid and fixing her eyes on his. "Never. Please, never think that. I said it once and I'll said it again: I will always be here for you, got it?" Comet was silent for a moment, but he gave her an affirmative nod. Rainbow pulled back the kid into a motherly hug and murmured more words of comfort into his ear, caressing his arm. "I'm sorry for not trusting you," Comet whispered, feeling guilty. Rainbow felt her heart melt and shook lightly her head. "Don't be. It was just a bad dream." She took off his hood from his raccoon themed pajamas and began to softly caress his hair with her hand and his shoulder with the other hand as Comet returned the hug, laying his head on her chest. Still embracing him, Rainbow looked out at the window and saw that a very small golden glow was coming from the mountains. A smile slowly crept across her face. "Comet, follow me," Rainbow said, looking down at him with that same smile. Comet looked at her in curiosity as she hopped off the bed. Rainbow held out her hand, motioning for the little kid to come. Comet didn't know what she was going to do, but he nodded and climbed off the bed. Rainbow gently took his hand into her own, both walking out of the room and she led him toward the sliding glass door that led to the balcony. Rainbow opened the door and both went outside. Comet looked up at the shining stars that freckled the black and serene sky along with the moon. Comet sighed closed his eyes as a soft wind began to blow against his face. Rainbow kneeled down to his level and turned around to face her back toward him. "Okay, Comet, climb on my back. I have a surprise for you," she said with a smirk. Comet looked at her in confusion, but he complied. He carefully wrapped his arms around Rainbow’s neck as she stood up, gripping his legs and lifting him up. "Umm, what are we going to do, Rainbow?" Comet asked in his usual innocent tone. Rainbow chuckled as her smirk widened. "Tight your arms, Comet. I'm going to take you to a little ride," she said, giving him a wink. With that being said, Rainbow closed her eyes as a blue aura began to surround her body. Suddenly, a pair of blue wings appeared on Rainbow's back, her ears shifted to her prismatic hair, turning into a pair of pony ears and her hair became longer and tied in a ponytail. Comet's eyes widened in shock at this unexpected phenomenonal sight. Once the transformation was done, Rainbow opened her eyes and looked back at Comet with a smile. "Surprised?" "Wow..." Comet muttered, looking at her wings. "I'll take that as a yes," Rainbow chuckled before turning her attention to the sky. "Hold on, little guy." Rainbow started to flap her wings to hover up in the air as Comet tightened his arms. The ground below them shrank as Rainbow hovered upwards and she flew towards the sky like a bullet, leaving a multicolored trail. Comet smiled happily as the wind blew against his face as Rainbow flew above Canterlot City, doing barrel rolls and somersaults. Rainbow flew in a zigzagging pattern around the clouds without touching them, followed by a spiral dive and another somersault. "This is so much fun, Rainbow! You're so awesome!" Comet happily said. Rainbow smiled at his excitement and chuckled. "I know. They don't call me Rainbow 'Danger' Dash for nothing!" After soaring above Canterlot for a few more minutes, Rainbow flew towards a cliff that was located on the outskirts of the city. She carefully landed on the ground and crouched down to let the child climb off her back. Rainbow looked up at the sky, letting out a warm sigh as Comet sat down beside Rainbow. Noticing this, Rainbow wrapped her arm around Comet, pulling him close to her and laying her wing over him. "It's very pretty at night, Rainbow," Comet said, smiling soflty at her. "I know, buddy," Rainbow replied with a soft smile of her own. "My mother and I used to watch the sun rise when I had your age. And now, I wanted to share this moment with you." "Your Mommy, Rainbow?" Comet inquired in curiosity. Rainbow nodded followed by another sigh, a look of nostalgia creeping across her face. "Umm, where is she?" Comet asked. "In Cloudsdale. If you're wondering why she's not here, it is because when I turned sixteen, she needed to return to Cloudsdale to attend important business," Rainbow replied, stroking his hair. "She's the leader of a brigade called Silver Wing which is kinda like the police." Comet smiled at the news. "So, she protects people and she puts on jail the bad people?" "That's right," Rainbow said with a warm smile. "She also teached me the meaning of Loyalty. Do you know what does mean Loyalty?" Comet though of it for a momment and shook his head. "Loyalty means never leaving behind your friends and family," Rainbow explained before placing her hand over Comet's heart. "It is hard to find and if you find it, keep it." Comet gave her a bright smile and nodded before wrapping his arms around her. "I will, Rainbow. I will keep it when I find it." Rainbow smiled and returned the hug, laying both wings over him and laying her chin on top of his head. "Comet, look," Rainbow said, her gaze now fixed on the mountains. The kid shifted his gaze towards the mountains and saw that a small golden glow was coming from behind the mountains. Comet smiled warmly as the golden orb slowly ascended against the sky, followed by a deep orange glow that showered the two and the city. Comet sighed and laid his head on her shoulder, enjoying the sunrise. Rainbow Dash smiled at the child and gave him a kiss on his forehead before looking at the sunset. > The Trial > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash was sitting alongside Sunset Shimmer behind the table on the left side of the courtroom while Comet's father was sitting on the right side of the courtroom with his own lawyer, who was a young woman in her mid twenties. Rainbow couldn't help but glare at him. One part of her wanted to confront him, yell at him and give him the beating of his life for what he did to Comet, but another part of her told her to chill out and wait until the trial ends. Suddenly, Rainbow felt a hand on her shoulder. Turning to her side, she saw Sunset giving her a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Rainbow. Everything will be fine," Sunset said. Rainbow smiled, relaxing a little bit. "Thanks, it's just I've never been in a trial before. How can you be awfully calm about this?" Sunset shrugged. "To be honest, I don't even know. But I'm fairly certain that Comet's father will lose the custody of Comet." Rainbow nodded and gave a glance behind her. She saw The Rainbooms and Comet sitting in the center of the gallery. The girls gave the two a reassuring smile while Comet waved at Rainbow. Feeling more confident, Rainbow gave them a thumbs up and glanced to her left, her gaze falling upon her lawyer who was hired by Sunset. Rainbow's lawyer, know simply as Phoenix, was a young man in his early thirties. Despite his age, he looked about the same age as the girls. Phoenix is well versed in the ways of the law and has handed many cases in his carrer, excluding this kind of situations. However, he never lost any case, except for one, and it is said he won against a prosecutor who was undefeated for 40 years. Just then, the door in the corner behind the judge’s stand opened, revealing the judge himself as the courtroom went silent. "The honorable judge, Justice Inkwell, will be presiding over this trial. Please rise," the police guard beside the judge's bench anounced as the judge walked towards to the bench. Everybody stood up as they were asked and remained respectfully silent as the judge took his place in his raised desk. "Thank you, everyone, and good afternoon. Take a seat so we can get this trial underway," Justice Inkwell said, organizing a small stack of papers. "The court is now on session. This is the trial of Meteoric Topaz against Rainbow Dash," he anounced before looking at Comet's father. "Mr. Topaz, the charges against you are child abuse and child neglect. How do you plead?" "Not guilty!" Topaz yelled, slamming his fists on the table. "Calm down, Mr. Topaz," Topaz's lawyer said to him in a hushed, but worried tone. "You must remain civil in the court if you wish to be successful for this trial." Topaz glared at her, but calmed down, letting out an annoyed huff. Justice Inkwell cleared his throat. "Alright, the outcome of this trial will determine whether or not Mr. Topaz is guilty of the charges I have mentioned before and it will also determine if young Comet Moonstone will be taken from his care," the judge said before fixing his gaze on Rainbow. "Miss Rainbow Dash, since you were the first one to discover the reason behind why we are all here today, I must ask you to take the stand first." Rainbow nodded respectfully before she stood up from her seat. She didn't bother to look at Meteoric Topaz as she walked across the courtroom and took the stand. Phoenix cleared his throat, walking towards Rainbow. "Okay, Miss Rainbow, can you please recount what happened, starting from the beginnig?" "Sure," Rainbow said and began to explain her tale. "It happened last week. After the last day of school before spring break, I made my way towards home as usual, but then I something crash in a alley. I first thought it was a person trying to assault me, but it wasn't. I went towards the alley when I head someone crying," Rainbow stopped, giving Comet a soft smile. "It was noneother than Comet Moonstone. I couldn't leave a child alone, so I took him to my home where I took care of him until this day." Phoenix nodded, rubbing his chin in thought. "I see. So, you would call yourself an big sister figure or a surrogate mother figute to this kid?" "Yep!" Rainbow replied with a smirk and feeling her pride flow. "Okay then. Miss Dash, how you found out that Comet was abused by his father?" Phoenix inquired, pacing back and forth. Rainbow then shot a cold glare at Topaz. "Two days later, however, Comet told me that his father, if he deserves being called that, was abusing him because his wife died during childbirth and he blamed him for that," she said, seething with anger. Suddenly, Meteoric Topaz slammed his fists on the table, startling everyone in the room. "That's because he's a murderer!" he barked and pointed his finger at Comet who was trembling in fear. "That mistake should be in jail instead of me!" "Order! Order in the court!" the judge yelled at Topaz, slamming his gavel on his desk repeatedly. "Mr. Topaz, if you do not act in an appropriate and respectful manner, I will be forced to hold you in contempt of court," Justice Inkwell warned and looked back at Phoenix. "You may continue, lawyer." "I have no further questions, your honor," Phoenix said before looking at Rainbow. "Thanks for your testimony, Miss Rainbow." Rainbow Dash nodded, stood up from the stand and walked over to her place with Sunset Shimmer, not looking at Meteoric Topaz. Rainbow wanted to beat the living daylights out of Comet's father, but she decided to rather calm down and let the trial end. Meanwhile, tears started to fall down Comet's checks at being accused by his father, but Fluttershy and Rarity quickly pulled him into a hug, trying to comfort the little kid. "Shhh... It's okay, darling. When we’re done, we can get some ice cream. How does that sound?" Rarity cooed, rubbing his arms. Comet calmed down a little bit and gave her a small nod. "Mr. Topaz, now you may take the stand," Justice Inkwell said, looking at him. Meteoric Topaz silently stood up from his seat and walked towards to the stand, but not before shooting Rainbow a glare. "Hurry up. I don't have time for this trash," Topaz growled as he sat down. "Alright then," Topaz's lawyer began, walking up to her client. "Mr. Topaz, can you tell us your side of the story?" "I've said it before, and I will say it again. That mistake is a murderer!" Topaz barked, pointing his finger at Comet again. "My wife and I had a happy life, until he came! Her death inflicted so much emotional trauma on me! To add insult to injury, his Aunt forgived him for killing her! The mistake that killed her sister! I won't lie. I regret being the father of this mistake!" "Hold it!" Phoenix interrupted. "Let me get this straight, you're saying that your son killed your wife?" "Yes!" Topaz replied, as if were the most obvious answer. "On the day he was born, right?" "Exactly." "Your honor, I may I explain, death by childbirth is not a murder," Phoenix explained, looking at the judge. "Comet is not responsable for the death of Topaz's wife. It is more likely that-" "Shut your mouth you idiot!" Topaz glared at Phoenix, cutting him off. "That brat doesn't deserve to live!! Heck, that's the reason why his Aunt died! She was blind to see the truth about this monster!!" Comet bursted into tears as Fluttershy tightened the hug and began to make a soft hushing sound to calm him down. 'What's the problem with this guy?' Phoenix thought, cringing slightly. "Mr. Topaz! This is your last and final warning!" the judge barked at him, losing his tolerance. "If you-" However, Topaz got up from the stand and rushed towards Comet with great fury. He pushed Fluttershy away, sending her to the floor and reached up his arm, grabbing Comet's wrist with a hard grip. Without hesitation, Rainbow Dash immediately rushed towards Topaz and give him a stiff roundhouse kick on the head in retaliation, sending him to the floor. The police guards walked up to Topaz and lifted him up before scorting him to towards the judge. "Well, due to Mr. Topaz disrespectful attitude towards the court, it’s time for the jury to decide his verdict," Justice Inkwell said while glaring at Topaz. One of the members of the jury, a woman with light green skin and orange hair, stood up. "Your honor, we find the defendant, Meteoric Topaz, guilty on the charge of child abuse, child neglect, contempt of court and assault." Nodding, the judge directed his gaze on Topaz again. "The jury has spoken. From this moment henceforth, Comet Moonstone is no longer under your legal guardianship. Meteoric Topaz, the court finds you guilty on all charges and I sentence you to fifty years on prision. Twenty for child abuse, fifteen for child neglect, ten for assault and five for contempt of court. All without any chance at parole." The guards scorted Comet's father to the exit of the courtroom, ignoring his hysterical outburst as Rainbow, Comet, the girls and Phoenix watched. Rainbow felt a pair of arm around her waist and looked down to see Comet bury his head on her belly. "Alright. The court is adjourned," the judge before hitting his desk with the gavel one last time. "Umm, Judge, what's going to happen with Comet?" Rainbow asked as she laid her hand over the child's shoulder. Justice Inkwell rubbed his chin thought. "Well, considering how a teenage girl of your age is cabable of taking care of child, I think young Comet Moonstone will be placed on your care." The Rainbooms and Comet smiled brightly at the news. "But first..." Justice began before turning his gaze on Comet. "Young lad, could you please step forward?" Comet nodded before timidly stepping forward, walking in front of the judge's desk. The judge gave him a soft and reassuring smile. "Comet Moonstone, since you do not have any legal guardians for the moment, I will give you a couple of choices. One, you could go live in an orphanage with other kids of your age, or two, you could go live with Miss Rainbow Dash. Which do you prefer?" Hearing this, tears formed on Comet's eyes as a smile slowly grew on his. He looked over his shoulder at Rainbow and the girls who gave him a soft smile. "I-I want to live with Rainbow Dash!" Comet said, running towards his new guardian. Rainbow opened her arms as Comet jumped into her embrace. He wrapped his arms around her and buried his head on her shoulder while Rainbow returned the hug, like a mother would do to his child. The girls couldn't help but 'dawww' at this sight. Phoenix also smiled at this adorable display and sighed, feeling that his job is done. 'Easy victory since that trial of the owner of the loan shop,' Phoenix thought to himself. "It is done then," Justice Inkwell said, slamming his gavel and smiled at Rainbow Dash. "Good luck to you on parenthood." With that being said, the judge collected his papers and left the desk. Rainbow felt a soft pat on her shoulder. She turned around and looked at Sunset, Fluttershy, Rarity, Twilight, Pinkie and Applejack, each giving her and Comet a smile. "You did it, Rainbow," Sunset said, feeling proud. "No, Sunset. Even though you guys didn't participate in the trial, me and Comet got your support," Rainbow said with a triumphant smirk. The Rainbooms and Comet then shared a group hug, a welded hug of victory. It was a joyous occasion. Rainbow wasn’t surprised when she felt a tear of joy roll down her check.
