> Chaos and Harmony: Darkness Descending > by MistyWriter > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > A Strange New World > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sonic clung even tighter to the bright red wing of the plane and ducked as a flying piece of metal flew over his head. As he stood back up he glanced back and laughed, "Sweet flying Tails! Those missiles didn't know what hit them!" His two-tailed best friend frowned as he stared down at his radar and kept both hands on the joysticks, "That's odd. There are no more attacks. Not only that, those missiles seemed to be intentionally missing us." Amy leaned over the front seat to get a good look at the green Rader with her quills fluttering in the breeze. She had insisted on coming along because she wanted to help Sonic. However, Tails suspected she actually wanted to try to impress him, but he didn't say this out loud for the fear of being hit by her hammer, "You mean Eggman wants us to come? That this could be a trap?" She asked worriedly. Tails nodded. "Maybe we should turn back Sonic." Tails suggested swallowing a lump. To his dismay, Sonic swept a hand to the side, "No way! Egghead has the emeralds and who knows what he would use all that power for? If it's a trap, everything will still turn out okay." The Tornado slowed to a stop on Eggman's red metallic fleet and the blue blur hopped off. Amy leaned over the side of the plane, "Just grab the emeralds and come straight out okay Sonic?" Sonic shrugged a bit carelessly, "Sure, unless there's a huge robot." Sonic sped off toward the entrance into the fleet, with nothing even attempting to stop him. Tails and Amy watched him as long as they could, until he disappeared through the wide open entry. Tails suddenly felt that he should have said good-bye. ........ Sonic was surprised with how the metal door flew open once he got close enough, but ignored this as he screeched to a halt and got in a balance stance, "Hold it Eggman!" No one. No one was here, not even a robot. At least, he didn't see one. After waiting a second, Sonic drew back up while still cautiously glancing around for any traps. The room was pretty empty and spacious except for what looked like a control table with one part had square glass. Noting the glow and the sudden familiar feeling of energy he took a few steps forward. The Chaos Emeralds were obviously in there, but he felt a small warning trigger in his conscious. Your fast enough. Just grab and run right? He thought to himself. Without waiting another second, he darted forward and gasped once he stepped in the middle and an electric field immediately shot up around him. Sonic recognized it as the very one that Eggman had used before unleashing Dark Gaia to stop him and keep him suspended in mid-air. A familiar laugh rang out and an egg shaped man walked out from another door from Sonic's right, "For a moment I thought you wouldn't fall for it, but you did!" Sonic struggled to move his arms and legs so that he could somehow break free, but the energy rings kept him from moving much, "Give up now Eggman! You know I'll always beat you!" "Not this time." The scientist huffed, "Firstly by using the Chaos emeralds and this!" He exclaimed and suddenly pulled out a kind of syringe. Sonic stopped struggling for a moment so that he could stare at it. Inside was some sort of purple liquid that bubbled as if it was carbonated or soda. "Do you know what this is?" Eggman asked staring hard at the hedgehog. Sonic rolled his eyes, "Your left over grape juice from lunch?" Eggman glared at him obviously not amused, "Very funny hedgehog. Do you remember the Dark Gaia incident?" Without waiting for a reply, Eggman held it higher with a triumphant look, "I still had a little energy left that I had gathered from him. Dark Gaia creates more of his energy by absorbing the negative energy of our world that we release. So the negative energy of the emeralds would allow me to grow my own energy right here!" Sonic's eyes widened, "Eggman, are you insane?! Lots of Dark Gaia energy can't be controlled especially by your bots!" Eggman frowned as if it was obvious that he knew that already, "I know that! The same thing happens with the Chaos Emeralds. I have something else in mind..." He walked toward Sonic with the syringe ready in hand. Sonic immediately panicked when he realized what he was going to do. He had to get out of here. He just had to! Eggman quickly stuck it on his right arm and injected it. Sonic held back a scream as he felt the dangerous liquid shoot through his bloodstream like fire. Eggman soon took it out once all of it was gone, "You're too good Sonic and that's the problem. I will never defeat you if you aren't on my side, so I will drill in enough negative energy to maximize the Gaia energy until you are corrupted." He pulled out some sort of remote with a bright red button and pressed on it. The energy field flashed with small bolts of pure energy and began to strike Sonic like dozens of needles biting deep into his flesh. Sonic cried out and gasped as his heart beat faster and faster when the negative energy began to enter. Unlike the positive energy that was filled with hope and light, it was filled with despair and darkness. It was pure evil. He felt icy cold one second, then flaming hot the next, and it felt like something was grabbing his heart and trying to tear it to pieces. He knew he had to get out of here. Away from Eggman, and taking the emeralds with him. Sonic managed to give a shaky smile at the watching doctor, "Sorry, but I won't give up so easily." He threw back his head and gathered his strength to yell, "CHAOS CONTROL!" The emeralds burst forth brilliantly with white light and in a second, the emeralds and Sonic were gone. Negative energy of the emeralds is the true Chaos energy. It's power can be unpredictable and can take control if it could. Sonic had meant to teleport to outside the fleet, but he found himself falling. Tumbling and falling through empty air with nothing to grab onto. The hedgehog landed with a huge thud on the rocky ground and grass, and laid there. He shivered hard and his body jerked from absorbing so much negative energy while he gasped for air feeling like one of Eggman's big robots was squeezing his lungs. His vision blurred as if looking through glasses with the wrong prescription, or if he was underwater with no goggles over his eyes. However, he could see something yellow and pink approaching. "Oh my goodness! Are you alright?! What's your name?!" The thing asked in a high kind of panicked and scared voice. It sounded so much like cream, and Sonic managed to gasp, "Sonic. Find Tails, need help." And the world became dark. .......... When Sonic began stir, he realized he felt alot better and comfortable. The pain had stopped and his head didn't feel like Amy hitting his head over and over. Maybe Vanilla had giving him something to feel better. When he opened his eyes, he realized he was mistaken of where he was. He was in a bed with orange and pink checkered comforters and butterflies dotted around to make a pattern. At his point of view, to the tight there was a small stone fireplace with a shelf overhead that held a clock and two framed pictures that captured probably an important or meaningful moment in whoever lived here's life. To the further right (close to the wall behind him) was two windows, one a circle and the other a pentagon. Up in the rafters overhead and the corners of the roof were some bird's nest and even a couple of bird houses. It felt nice and welcoming, and the position of the sun looked like it was nearly Afternoon. Sonic was about to hop out of bed when the wooden door creaked open. To his upmost surprise, a feeble yellow pony-like figure peeked in. Her eyes were teal and gentle while her mane was long and pink. When she saw that he was awake, she gave a small gasp and opened the door wider, "I'm sorry, but you landed near my house... And... Well..." She trailed off shyly. Sonic wasn't particularly too surprised seeing a talking Pegasus. After all, he had read about them in Greek mythology. Wasn't Pegasus born from Medusa's blood or something like that? Anyway, what surprised him most was that he wasn't on his own planet..obviously. The pegasus began to slowly back away with a worried look until Sonic raised a hand, "Wait! Don't go! I promise I won't hurt you! Thanks for helping me." When the pegasus saw that he wasn't making any movement that seemed threatening or dangerous, she fully walked in and smiled but still kept her distance, "Your welcome. My name is Fluttershy, Sonic." She introduced herself. Sonic gave her a confused look and tilted his head, "Can you read my mind or something?" "No," she giggled, "You mumbled that your name was Sonic before you... Uh.. Passed out." Sonic immediately liked this Pegasus and looked around, "Sooo where am I? I don't think this is my world." "Your from a different world?" She asked surprised at the thought that there was a real alien in her house. Sonic nodded and gave her a quick summery how he ended up here (wherever here was) when Dr.Eggman had tried to corrupt him and he had teleported with the Chaos Emeralds. However, it apparently sent him to a different world and (he explained the Chaos Emerald part when she made that baffled face) that it looked like he had to look for all seven to get back. Fluttershy had listened intently to the whole thing and was now sitting on the bed on the opposites side of him. When Sonic finished, she swept her hoof through the air in a slashing motion toward the windows, "I see. You are in Equestria that is ruled by mainly two alicorn (ponies like me with horns) princesses. My friend Twilight is also a princess and maybe she can help me help you find these emeralds." Sonic gave a thumbs up and smiled, "Sounds like a plan!" This was the beginning of a crazy new adventure.
