> You can't be so quiet in here > by kikibashi99 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Club > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Come on Flutters, let's go already!" Rainbow Dash begged her friend, for the hundrenth time, tugging aggresively at the yellow pony's pink mane. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were in Fluttershy's litte cottage on the edge of Ponyville, hanging out in the late summer afternoon. Rainbow Dash was laying on the couch while Fluttershy was laying on the floor, trying to feed a carrot to her stubborn pet bunny, Angel. Fluttershy sighed, giving up on trying to feed Angel and looked up at her foalhood friend, exasperated at RD's repeated attempts to get the yellow pegasus to go to a club Rainbow had heard about, having it opened just down the street from Fluttershy's cottage. "Fine, let's go. Where is this club?" Fluttershy finally agreed, looking down at Angel again who looked annoyed. Rainbow squealled in delight and started hovering, her wings beating in excitement. "It's just down the road from here! Come on! It's going to be so AWESOME!" Rainbow Dash gushed in pure exitement. "I gotta head on home to get ready, I'll be right on back in an hour and we can head on over." Rainbow Dash smiled and dashed out, taking to the skies with a powerful flap of wings and speed. Fluttershy sighed and stood up, her mane ruffled by the gust of air caused by Rainbow Dash's sudden departure. She looked down at the annoyed Angel, his foot tapping in quick succesion and his tiny arms crossed over his whtie chest. He obviously did not like such an idea but Fluttershy merely smiled at him, speaking softly. "Don't worry Angel dear, mommy will be back later. I'll make sure to leave you some food so you don't get hungry." She turned and headed towards the kitchen to prepare some food before getting ready herself. A few hours later, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash waited in the long line in front of the new nightclub, the Hoof Beat. Rainbow Dash smiled and whisper-shouted to Fluttershy to be heard over the muffled sounds of music and the chatter of the other excited ponies in line. "This club just opened by some pony from Canterlot but I heard it is already booming. This is gonna be the bomb!" Fluttershy smiled weakly at her friend, already nervous being in the middle of so many loud ponies. She looked at her friend's outfit, feeling underdressed herself. Rainbow Dash had tied her mane back with a rainbow-colored mane band and two cuffs on her forelegs, her right being a bright blue while her left being a dark red. She had a tag around her neck with a strange badge. Rainbow had explained that it was called a VIP pass which she had won through a radio contest to promote the new club. "It says that it allows a pony into a special area. They told me all the good stuff will be there!" Fluttershy had dressed simple, unsure what the other ponies in this new place would be wearing. She had brushed her mane till it was straight and shiny, making sure to wash with a new conditioner she had bought recently. She had put on a cute little necklace that was simple and had her Element of Harmony on it, Kindness. Rarity had made it for her awhile back when they had first recieved their Elements. It didnt do what the actual necklace did but it was pretty nonetheless. The line finally began to move and the two mares approached the bouncer at the front. He was a burly Earth pony who stood a few inches taller than most ponies. He looked at the two mare friends for a few moments before nodding, unhooking the rope and allowing them to enter the nightclub. > The DJ > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The inside of the club was like a living, breathing being. The floor was tiled with every tile flashing a different color in time to the song that was playing. The ponies on the dance floor were moving and bouncing to flashing lights and heavy beats. The air was filled with the scents of cider, sweat, and excitement. Amongst all the noise and lights stood a tall platform in the back of the dance floor. Atop the high platfo, there was a set of giant speakers, laser lights, and a DJ turntable. Fluttershy had trouble making out the pony through the lasers, bright floor tiles, and dim light but she could make out what appeared to be purple shades and colored mane. She squeaked as Rainbow Dash tugged the timid pegasus towards the bar. Dash looked at the drinks behind the Bar Pony with daring and excited eyes. The blue pegasus quickly ordered two of a drink that she had grown accustomed to, Spiced Apple Cider. Dash drank hers and looked around while Fluttershy stared at her own cup, feeling the awkwardness of the crowded place. "You Fluttershy, look at that stallion there!" Rainbow Dash had to practically scream into Fluttershy's ear to be heard over the music as she gestured to a stallion on the dance floor. He was a tall stallion with an athletic build on him. Fluttershy merely nodded, having the inability to ever admit her dislike of stallions to her best mare friend. Rainbow flew over the crowd to go and talk to the stallion she had spotted, leaving Fluttershy to stand awkwardly at the bar, alone with her Spiced Apple Cider. A few hours had passed since being left alone but Fluttershy didn't mind the being alone part, it's just she hated crowds. She downed the last of her Cider, paid, and got up to leave. As she gathered herself to fly to the exit, a burly Ponyguard walked up to her. He looked down at the crouching pegasus through his tinted shades. He silently gestured for her to follow her. Fluttershy gawked at him in fear and swallowed the sudden lump in her throat. Fluttershy followed the bigger ponyguard through the crowd and towards the back of the club, further and further away from the front doors that led to the fresh, crisp, night air. She looked away from the doors and ran into the pony she bad been following. She gasped and stepped back, looking around him to see a velvet rope blocking their way, guarded by another pony. The two guards nodded to each other and the rope was no longer in their way. Fluttershy wondered what she could have possibly done to upset the owner. All she had been doing since she got there was sip her Cider and sit at the bar. The guard led her into a back room which looked like a dressing room of sorts. "DJ Pon-3 will see you after her set." The guard commanded as he slowly shut the door. Fluttershy had to swallow to try and keep her throat from being dry as she sat in a chair. An hour or so later, the door to the dressing room opened. Fluttershy, whp's nerves were shot from the anticipation of what might be wrong and the long wait, jumped high in her chair. The mare was obviously the DJ from what Fluttershy had noticed before. She had two-toned electric blue and cobalt mane and tail, white coat, and her eyes were hidden behind purple shades. She walked with an aura of confidence and a carefree attitude. The DJ was saying goodbye to a stallion, who he was, Fluttershy had no clue. When the DJ noticed Fluttershy, she smiled and nodded. "Saw ya just hanging at the bar all alone and thought you might want someone to hang with." Fluttershy gulped and spoke quietly. "B-But that was an h-hour ago..." The DJ's eyebrows shot up and his face swiveled to the wall clock. She cursed and have an embarrassed chuckle. "Ah, so it is." She spoke with a tone of someone who was embarrassed about always being late. "I tend to get carried away with the beats and wubs, take me away and I lose track of the time." Fluttershy giggled and the other mare seemed to relax. "Listen, it's, like, totally late so I was wondering if you wanted to crash at my place? It's nearby and I'm sure my roommate wouldn't mind. Or like, you wanna go home I'll walk ya." Fluttershy smiled softly, moved by the stranger's offer. "I...Don't really like the dark so...c-could we g-go to your p-place?" She blushed and looked down. The other mare smiled and nodded, leading them both out the doors and then outside, into the night air and Luna's realm. > The Sleepover > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluttershy and the the DJ walked in the dark street, side by side. The DJ looked over at the yellow pegasus with her usual, carefree smile. "I never even told you my name did I? The name's Vinyl Scratch, what's yours?" Fluttershy blushed and spoke so quietly that she couldnt be heard. "I'm sorry, didn't quite catch that." Fluttershy spoke again, even quiter than before. Vinyl Scratch was silent for a moment before chuckling. Fluttershy smiled softly and relaxed a little bit and spoke up just enough for Vinyl to hear her. "My name is Fluttershy." Vinyl smiled and gave the yellow pegasus a wink. "Cute name." Fluttershy blushed even harder and fell silent. They walked for a few minutes in silence before arriving at a cottage. The house was two storied, the colors complimenting the DJ pony's carefree lifestyle. Fluttershy blushed softly, embarrassed at the idea of spending the night at another pony's house. They entered the house and Fluttershy slowly looked around, entranced by the mix of regal furniture and neon colors. Fluttershy looks over at Vinyl in confusion. Vinyl Scratch noticed the pegasus' confused look and chuckled. "My roommate, a famous little Earth Pony who was part of the Canterlot orchestra. Her name is Octavia." Fluttershy raised an eyebrow, noticing the name she mentioned. Vinyl shrugged and kept walking, showing her to a room, surrounded by neon lights and a massive stereo system that took up all of one wall of the room. The bed was a massive Queen sized bed, covered in neon blue sheets and cobalt colored blankets. The pillow was white with a vinyl record in the left corner. Vinyl smiled softly and gestured to the room they had entered. "We only got two rooms so like, I guess you're chilling in my room. That gonna be a problem?" Fluttershy blushed and looked down and away, her mane covering her blush. "Y-Yeah....that's alright." She whispered softly, not wanting to deny Vinyl her hospitality. A few hours later, Fluttershy was curled up in the right side of the bed. Vinyl Scratch was sprawled out on the left side, snoring loudly. Her shades laid on the nightstand and the only source of light was the moonlight coming from the window. Fluttershy bit her lip hard to keep from giggling at the way the DJ ppny snored. Fluttershy got up and walked downstairs to the kitchen, calmly helping herself to a glass of water from the sink. Fluttershy didn't quite understand it but...something was special about this pony Fluttershy stood at the back door with the top half open, calmly looking at the moon. Fluttershy smiled softly, remembering the stories her mother would tell her at night. There was a story that was a very...untraditional story her mother tell her. It was the story of a mysterious pony knight who braves many obstacles and defeats strong oppenents to save a princess from a faraway land. What made the story stick to Fluttershy's mind was at the end, the Knight would take off their helmat and it would be revealed that the knight was actually mare. The princess and the mare knight lived happily ever after in the story. Fluttershy sighed happily at the pleasent memory and some softly to herself. "Someday,I want a knight like that." Once she was done with her glass of water, she set it in the sink and walked back to bed. She curled up and fell asleep, her hips touching the undisturbed, snoring mare beside her. > Time To Return Home > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning, Fluttershy yawned as she slowly woke up. She blinked her eyes open, smiling at the wonderful dream she had. She dreamnt she had spent the night at an adorable and amazing mare's house. Suddenly, her eyes shot open as she heard the voice. "Ah, good morning there cutie." The voice said, a yawn making the voice slur with drowsiness and sleep. Fluttershy looks over at the unicorn as she woke up. Fluttershy's eyes widened in terror as she realized sge had just woken up in some strange pony's bed. She silently cursed herself for those spiced ciders and got out of bed quickly. She scrambled and bowed low, talking in an average volume. "I-I am so sorry if anything h-h-happened last night!" After a few minutes into Fluttershy's long apology rant, Vinyl Scratch started to laugh. "It is fine, nothing happened that I didn't want to happen!" She quickly recovered as she saw the pegasus' face turned redder than apple picked straight from Sweet Apple Acres. "Nothing happened, I swear. We just crashed here last bight, just sleeping." Fluttershy seemed to calm down and Vinyl breathed in relieve. She thought the mare wouldve died from lack of breath due to the constant stream of apologies. The mares made eye contact and after a moment of silence, both began to laugh as the absurd moment they just had. They kept laughing till a voice interrupted them. "What is Celestia's great empire is going on here?!" Half an hour later, Vinyl Scratch stood at the breakfast bar in her kitchen, looking into the living room where an embarrassed pink-maned Pegasus sat on her couch. The mare was quite beautiful, unlike the other mares and stallion the DJ had taken home after late night after party drinking. This pony was simple buy complexed, plain yet stylish, small yet larger than life itself. Vinyl began to think of the that small mouth as it began to... A quick smack from a delicate and fragile hoof in the back of Vinyl's head snapped the DJ back to focus on her roommate. She slowly turned her head to look at the polished Earth Pony. Vinyl Scratch's roommate was a gray Earth pony named Octavia. The Earth pony had a light gray coat with a well groomed, coal black mane. The Earth pony was clearly from Canterlot, from the stylish style of her mane pulled up into an artistrocatic bun, to the signature pink bow the mare never left home without, and even the clipped, upper class accent the mare had. Now those purple eyes were ablaze with anger and confusion, her usually neat hair messy from sleep, and the slightest hint of a smile on the musical pony's mouth. "Okay, so the story is this. You were doing your...gig last night at the dance club when you saw a lonely looking pegasus at the bar. You had the bouncers take her to your dressing room and you walked her here. You both fell asleep and nothing happened?" The white unicorn looked at the earth pony with neutral red eyes, nodding in agreement. Octavia was silent for a bit before she suddenly started to laugh. "That is just adorable! You weren't drinking and decided to take a mare home? I don't know what came over you but I believe it is time she went home. We must practice for the concerto next week." Vinyl Scratch winced at the memory of agreeing while heavily intoxicated to the miserable idea. She is learning the keyboard to play some slow, graceful music piece. After some time arguing, Vinyl finally agreed when Octavia threatened to lock up her recording equipment. She slowly walked over to the pegasus with an apologetic smile. "Yo, sorry bout this but I guess you gotta head home. We kinda got some things to do today. But perhaps I can see you again sometime." Fluttershy smiled shyly but managed a nod. Vinyl walked Fluttershy to the door where they stood for a moment An awkward tension began to build between the two mares. Suddenly, Fluttershy opened her mouth to say something. Her face flushed, she shut her muzzle, and quickly took off. Vinyl Scratch looked at the dot in the sky as it began to face. She sighed and turned, heading inside slowly. > Interlude:Musical Turmoil > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The grey mare frowned as her unicorn roommate continued to mess up on the grand pianpiano before her. Vinyl Scratch gritted her teeth as the wailing and crashing notes that the unicorn made. Octavia sighed and shook her head sadly. The mare seemed to be useless with an actual instrument in hoof but if you gave her a computer, the unicorn could conjure an entire orchestra. Octavia finally sighed and shook her head. "Come Vinyl, let us take a small break." Vinyl frowned at her but Octavia merely walked to the kitchen. The truth was, she couldn't concentrate enough now as it is. The mare that Vinyl Scratch had brought home last night seemed to occupy the unicorn's mind all morning. Vinyl looked off in the distance with a small smile or would suddenly close her eyes while practicing and make several mistakes. Octavia didn't have a problem with this behavior because she knew what it meant. She had seen it when she had to teach new blood at her old orchestra. It was when a pony was so hopelessly in love that the special somepony distracted that pony's full attention. Normally, Octavia would be able to work around it but something about Vinyl's love bugged her. Octavia grabbed a glass of sparkly grape juice and sipped at it thoughtfully, trying to sort this unease out. As she did so, suddenly Vinyl Scratch appeared in front of her. Vinyl was smiling and Octavia merely looked back to her juice. "Yo! What are you doing? You seem like something is bugging you." Vinyl asked, looking at her with concern. Octavia shook her head and that just made Vinyl frown more. She knew something was wrong with her roommate but it must be incredibly bad if the earth pony wouldn't tell her. "Nothing you need to concern yourself with dear." Octavia calmly told her friend and walked back towards the music room. "Come, we have much to practice. The wedding will only be a few more weeks and we must prepare." Vinyl Scratch groaned and shook her head, following Octavia to the room. Octavia tried to teach Vinyl the piano for a few more hours before her patience ran too thin. She told Vinyl that practice was done for the day and walked towards the patio in the back of the house. She stood there, looking out on the horizon as the soon began to set. She watched the orange blend with the blues and whites of the day sky as it transitioned to the night sky. She sighed and bit her lip, sending a small prayer to Luna. "Luna...guide my heart right. I do not want to fall for her and not have her love me back..."
