> I Never got to Say Goodbye > by Jazz > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prolouge (Just something put together) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, I'm Autumn. I'm twenty four now, and six years away from regret. Your going to ask what regret I'm facing in six years, correct? Well. Here's my story. Read on if you'd like to know. > -I- The Palace > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I was born, my mother had rented the luxury room in the hospital up in Canterlot. My mom, my dad, my grandmother, two doctors and a nurse, and I. I was hungry when I came out, and given delicious warm, soothing milk. It was something I enjoyed when I was small. My mother peered at me and said: "Well, I'd like it if she were a colt, so he could take heir to the throne, but he is not a he, but yet a she." "Be thankful dear. We can try again. In the meantime, she can be our little princess. Literally. Now, what is given must be taken," my father, King Saal said to my mother, Queen Kryistal. I looked over to my grandmother. My grandmother lifted me up. She held me close and tightly. I felt safe in her hooves. I sneezed adorably and gave my wings a flutter- yes, something I forgot to mention. I come was born by alicorns, making me also an alicorn. Only my mother, father and I were alicorns, not my pegasus grandmother. "Well, what would you like to name this beautiful child, High King and High Queen?" the nurse asked. My mother looked at me. She stared at me for a while. "She shall be Princess Autumn," she finally said soothingly. Finally, she wasn't complaining about me, or anything. She always complained, but I guess it wasn't that bad. Anyways, in about half an hour, my mother, my father, and I all got back to the luxurious castle. It was brilliant. The walls were as high as towers, and the first room was the throne room. Two large throne stood side by side. The one to the left was golden with a red satin pillow for cush. The one to the right was silver, and had a purple pillow. A guard stood by and ordered a butler to bring out a third throne: A sapphire throne with a pink cushion. Mine. "For the two young ladies and the King. Please, do sit," the butler said to us. We sat down, my mother putting me in my chair. It was so uncomfortable. Enough to make a baby cry, which I wouldn't do anymore- I've cried too much already, and dealt with worse pain. Mother scowled at me and growled. "Alfur! Get me a lemonade. Hurry, now! Hurry!" "Yes ma'am," he said in reply. As Alfur left the room, Mother slammed the door soft pink glow, just like her cold, piercing eyes. She peered them towards Alfur as he returned. Her eyes pierced him like ice daggers in his chest. He was an earth pony, so he carried the lemonade tray on his back, but still sweat. "Your two minutes late, Alfur..." she said coolly, yet an evil, menacing grin stuck to her face. "Yes, so sorry Madam Queen Kryistal. Do forgive me, for I have been unfa-" Alfur began. "Save it, Scrunge!" she said. Now, she threw him against the wall in a pink flash with her horn. "Dear, perhaps we could... I dunno, spare him? We're running out of butlers here..." King Saal (I was never allowed to call him 'Dad' or 'Pa' to him, but I could call him father, or King Saal) said to my mother. "If we absolutely just must," my mother huffed with a sigh. My father put a wing around her has they waltzed to their thrones, setting me up in my throne. I began to cry as I was set in an uncomftorable throne. "DO BE A DEAR AND SHUT UP!" Father yelled at me. I shut up at once. My grandmother flew in (she was just a pegasus as well) and nuzzled me. She looked so young, as she was. My mother was merely twenty as my grandmother was forty. I was tiny! Yay, tinyness... I squealed with joy and delight as I was nuzzling my grandmother. I felt a connection. "Ahh-chu..." I sneezed softly as I closed my eyes gently in her hooves. She flew me to my room. "Mother, where goeth thee?" Mother asked softly as she ate a biscuit from a bowl next to her throne and sipped lemonade slowly. "Oh, Kryistal, I'll take Autumn to her room, she's tired. Now, you relax yourselves. I'll be back in a moment," Grandmother said to everypony in the room. She flew me gently to my room and tucked me into my pink crib. My coral coat blended in with the covers and my orange mane fell to the pillow. "Fall asleep, my little filly. Princess Luna grants thee the sweetest of dreams," she sang softly to me. > -II- First Steps, and First Rage > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I learned how to crawl my first steps, my mother and father were busy. They didn't take pictures. My grandmother did. My first words weren't "Mama" or "Daddy." No. "Oh, your so cute!" Snap! My grandmother would say. I'd get on my hooves and pose for the camera. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. "Come in," my grandmother said as she set the camera down. "Autumn is taking her first steps!" A tall, green mare with a blonde mane stepped inside the large room I called my bedroom when I could talk regularly. The mare was my mother. I didn't see her much, since I was always with Grandmother. Grandmother cared for me. She always did. She baked my first birthday cake. I had grown up a bit, now that I was a year old. It was exciting for the whole.. "Oh, is that so? Good for...uhm... her? Mother, I have good news," Mother spoke to both of us. "I'm pregnant! Hopefully it's a colt this time," she paused to shoot me an evil look, the ice daggers slicing me open. "Gwammafa," I said. I was never allowed to say "Grandma" or "Grammy." Since I couldn't say "Grandmother" right, I said "Gwammafa" instead. Well, what do you expect from a one year old filly? "Yes, dear?" she replied. My mother remained in shock. "She said her first word? And it's Grandmother?" she said angrily. She looked at me as if I were the one to blame. She sliced me open even further with her ice dagger-eyes. My grandmother's red coat got even redder. Her green eyes twinkled. She used her hoof to take a blue strand of mane out of her face. "Yes," she chuckled, stroking my orange mane. I yawned and cuddled with her. She felt like a mother to me. She was- My grandmother. > -III- Ploting the Unknown > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "My perfect little peach, aren't you just?" Grandmother whispered to me as she saw me wake up. I had already been awake for two minutes, but I let her stroke my mane. It was my eighth Birthday tomorrow, and the day that would change my life. I rubbed my eyes and got out of bed (I now had a full sized bed, not a crib anymore) to get myself dressed. Grandmother had laid out my clothes on a chest of drawers and walked out of my room and closed it to let me get dressed. She laid out a simple, elegant, white dress. It was silky and flowy. As I put my dress on, I noticed that there was a pair of gold slips to put on. I sat on a red bench and put the slips on my hooves. I followed Grandmother's hoofsteps and walked out of my room, closing the brass door with an oaky feel to it. "Good Morning, fair Autumn," Alfur said to me as I walked out. I nodded in reply and smiled. I glided down to breakfast, half flying, half floating. I gave my wings a flap as I smelled delicious food from the large dining room. I sat in my chair and looked at my egg filled plate. My six year old brother gave me a glare. "Good morning, all," I said, levitating my fork. I gave a patch of eggs a stab and popped them in my mouth. They could use some pepper, so I levitated that with my horn. All of a sudden, my brother used his horn to grab the pepper. In a war of Blue vs. Yellow, I finally won. I shook my pepper on my eggs in victory. My brother stuck his fat tongue out. "Good morning, Autumn," Father said half hearted as he ate his eggs. Mother repeated. "So today I want to go to the movies," my brother said. "I want a large popcorn and a large soda. But, I don't want Autumn to come. She'll just ruin it! And it's not fair to the least!" "Of course we'll go, dear. Autumn won't come. Autumn, finish your breakfast quickly or I'll have it given to the dogs. Hurry up, now! Hurry!" Father said as he had more on his plate then I, even though he started off first, and had the same amount. I was a fast eater. Or he was just a slow eater and a big talker. I ate my breakfast, and had little conversation with the others. They slowly ate likee royals. When I had finished, I went upstairs the left grand staircase and went to the top of the castle to my room. I lay down on my bed, and opened the blinds with a yellow glow. I went out on the balcony and gazed at the sun. I got bored, so I went to the library and took a book Daring Do by A. K. Yearling which is one of my favorite books. I flopped down on my bed and flicked through the pages. I read up until when Grandmother came in. I stared at my book page, pretending to read. I pretended she wasn't there, that she didn't come in. I pretended I was alone- like it always felt like. Finally, Grandmother broke my trans. "Hi, sweetie. What are you reading?" "Just a book, Grandmother," I said. "It's a novel about two pegasus ponies who adventure." Grandmother simply nodded. She got the clue. She stroked my mane first, than left. I was still a blank flank, but I had no school like that- I went to Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. It was Summer, thank Celestia, but I was still busy with "Princess Stuff." So I sat in my room, pretending I wasn't there, while I heard my parents play with my brother. I looked over to the door as it shut, and I flew over. "Grandmother," I whispered as she gently came in. "Let's fly away." Grandmother stepped inside my room once more to stroke my mane. "Of course dear..." > -IV- Let's Fly Free! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grandmother nodded and smiled. She left the room to tell me she'd be in her room packing up. I grabbed my suitcase and packed up everything. I quickly scribbled some words on a piece of paper. I still have it saying: Dear Mother and Father, Grandmother and I flew away. Thanks! ♥Autumn. As I put it in the envelope and wrote Mother and Father on top as I latched my suitcase and lifted it with my horn and slid it under my bed. I don't exactly remember why we left, but it just felt right. I flew myself to Grandmother's room. I knocked on the door. She opened it and rushed me in, locking the door behind us. "Tomorrow, Autumn. Tomorrow," she whispered, looking happy. Her tired eyes rested on me. I nodded and laid down in her bed. I needed a hug. She climbed in bed and let me snuggle with her. She put her wing around me and we fell asleep. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next morning, we woke up fully rested. She woke me up at dawn, signalling it was time to leave. I flew to my room silently and placed the envelope underneath the bottom of the door to my parents' room. I grabbed my suitcase with my magic and followed my grandmother out the window. Out suitcases together were nothing for alicorn magic. We flew for a few hours until breakfast time, when Grandmother dived down to a large wood. It was a nice forest, but my jaw dropped when Grandmother showed me a nice, rich manor. "This was once my palace," she explained to me as I walked in, setting our bags down. "I'll make oatmeal," she finished coolly as if she didn't want to talk about it at the moment, or ever again. She treated my parents like crap compared to me. Once she nodded to a pair of guards guarding the door, We walked inside. It took quite a while for me to take it all in. Instructed to put Grandmother's bags into her room, and pick out a room for myself and place my own bags inside, I chose a large silver room with a blue finsh. As I set my large trunk down on the sliver bed with cotton candy pink pillows, Grandmother called me for breakfast. Would they care if I were gone? "Coming, Grandmother!" I called out as I teleported myself to the large brass cleaned dining room. There were a few plates, but only two of them were full of oatmeal and fruit in small bowls next to the plates. Grandmother ate her food with a large fork as I ate mine with a yellow glow. "How is your breakfast, sweetie?" she said, smiling warmly as she switched her fork for a spoon and dug it into her oatmeal. I nodded in return. "It's good Grandmother. Thank you," I said, smiling. "I believe we are going to the library today, are we not? You need to read some good stories. You can use up a room of the library for yourself, even! Wouldn't that be exciting?" she said. She was probobly more excited then I, but I was really excited about too many other things then a library for myself! And we ate our breakfast with glee and happiness.
