> The Changling King > by brandsca123 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Long Live The King > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let me tell you a story, a story about two lovers and their kingdom and how the king fought for his peoples freedom. Once upon a time in the magical land of Equestria, there lived a changling queen. She once tried to take over the kingdom in order to feed her people but was doomed to fail. She was beaten back by the power of two lovers and was sent into the darkness never to be seen again. But something happened, a human male landed here in Equestria and was adopted by the two princess' of the sun and moon. The young prince found the changling queen and befriended her and slowly changed her views on the kingdom. For a time they lived together and soon they fell in love. It was a love not ment to be however as the queen was immortal and the man was not. In order for the human to be with his love he had to give up something. He gave up half of his humanity and became a halfling, a half man and half changling. Though he still had his human form he was now only half human, and now the two lovers watch over each other for all eternity. Curtis had finished reading the story to his son, who was giggling happily by his side. Curtis loved that story as it told others on how he and Chrysalis met. Curtis was different than he was before he came to Equestria, mostly because of the changling blood in his veins and the flesh which he took into himself. His hair was a different color now, grey and spiked. His eyes matched his wife's and he also had small fangs. His nails were black and hard as rock, and as sharp as a blade. The rest of him was human though, but he didn't care. His son was also a halfling, though he took more after his mother then his father. He looked like a normal changling, save for the eyes which looked human. His name was Peter, after the boy from the story Peter Pan. Curtis remembered that story from when he was a kid, it was one of the first books he'd ever read. "Again, again!" Peter squealed in excitement, he still had his child like innocence and curiosity and Curtis loved that about him. "Fine, I will read it once more but you will have to promise me that you'll go to bed afterwards." Curtis said. Peter nodded and laid back down in the cot and Curtis began again. "Once upon a time......." Chrysalis walked into the room, they were staying at the royal palace for the night before they had to go down for the treaty between her people and the ponies. She smiled when she saw both Curtis and Peter fast asleep, the book was lying on the floor in a heep. She jumped suddenly when she felt something small and furry brush past her legs. She looked down to see Death Kitty walking into the room to lay down by his master. Death Kitty was no longer a kitten, he was now a fully grown cat. He still had that child like attitude when it came to things he didn't know. He was loyal and would always defend his master and his family whenever his master tells him to. Death Kitty had settled down allot since the first time she met him. The only time Death Kitty attacks others now is when his master tells him to. Chrysalis walked up to her husband and laid down beside him. She rested her chin on his shoulder as sleep took over her. The day had arrived. The two lovers walked into the throne room where Celestia and Luna were waiting for them. The room was packed and a desk was at the end of the room. It had a pen and a piece of paper on top of it. Celestia spoke when Curtis and Chrisalis got up to join them. "Mares and Gentlecolts today is the dat when Equestria enters a new age." The crows stomped their hooves in applause. "Today we welcome the changlings into our society as both friends and families. May we all live forever in harmony with our new friends." The crowd erupted in cheers, Curtis could see a few changlings mixed in with the crowd of technicolored ponies. They too cheered. "We now make this change permanent with the signing of the peace treaty." Celestia said as she brought Luna and the two lovers over to the desk. They sighned the treaty and the crowd roared some more. After the signing a party was going on inside the palace. Music erupted everywhere as ponies and changlings left and right celebrated the arrival of a new age of peace. Curtis could see a few familiar faces in the crowd. There was Rarity chatting away with some nobles at the other end of the room. Twilight, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were busy dancing. Applejack was trying to talk some changlings into buying some of her products, she owned an apple orchard in Ponyville. Pinkie Pie was just being Pinkie Pie as she ran around the snack table gobbling up all the sweats. For once in his life Curtis felt happy. He felt something tap him on his shoulder, he turned around to find Chrysalis smiling at him. "May I have this dance?" She asked. Curtis didn't have to be told twice as he swept her into his arms and dragged her to the dance floor. Equestria was now at peace. After the party Curtis and Chrysalis decided to head to bed early for the trip back into Ponyville tomorrow. The two snuggled each other as they got into bed and soon they were locked into a kiss. Just the Peter came into the room crying, Death Kitty was right behind him and had a look of concern on his face. "I had a bad dream." Peter cried as he jumped into bed with his parents. Chrysalis and Curtis exchanged looks and let Peter into bed with them. Curtis then decided to ask Peter a question. "Just out of curiosity, what was the dream about?" Peter sniffed before answering. "It was horrible, big black shadows came and tried to take me and mommy away. I kept trying to run but the shadows always cought up to me." Curtis was concerned now but decided to shrug it off. "It was only a dream Peter, besides if any shadows tried to take you and your mother away then I would send Death Kitty after them. Right Death..." Death Kitty meowed in response and curled up beside the bed. "You promise." Peter said. "Yes I promise." Curtis answered back. Soon the four of them fell asleep together awaiting what was held in store for them the next day.
