> Turned Against > by Shimmer Shy > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Goodbye, Sonata > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I thought I told you to be quiet, Sonata!" Adagio shrieked. "I'm trying to think!" Adagio's efforts weren't enough, though. Sonata carried on and on. "Hurry, Adagio! I'm hungry! The taco places might all be closed by now!" she cried. Aria rolled her eyes. "Would you two cut it out?" she said, annoyed. "I'll take Sonata to Taco Bell if I have to! Just quit it!" Sonata's eyes moved to the purple and green haired girl hopefully. "Really? Oh! Oh! Thanks Aria! Let's go! Let's go!" She tugged on Aria's sleeve, and Aria followed her into the restaurant obediently. The place was packed with people, talking and laughing, eating hurriedly, trying to finish before it was closing time. Sonata hopped to the checkout happily, and Aria stayed in the shadows at the doorway, glaring at everyone who passed her. Sonata ordered, and then went over to join Aria to wait. "I got you one! Surely that will cheer you up! And we can't forget Dagi, now can we?" Aria crossed her arms and looked away. When Sonata heard her number, she dragged Aria along with her to grab the tray, then rushed outside to where Adagio was, sitting at a bench. She dropped the food onto the table and plopped into a seat. Adagio looked up. "I got us all TACOS!!" Sonata smiled and bit into hers. "Want one?" Both Aria and Adagio flinched when crumbs spilled everywhere as she talked. "So, anyway, I need to talk to Aria alone, Sonata. Could you excuse us for a second?" Sonata nodded and waved. Adagio pulled Aria around a corner, where Sonata couldn't hear them. Aria was getting pretty tired of getting dragged everywhere. "Aria, I know I'm not the only one getting tired of Sonata." Adagio whispered. "The only reason we let her stay was because...well...we didn't think she could handle things here on her own. You know, she's just kinda...messed up, I guess." Aria nodded as she kept talking. "But now I know we both think she can go all on her own. We should probably just...leave her. Though I'd feel sorta bad, it's for all of our own good." "Yeah. If we're going to get our magic back, we're going to have to do it alone." Aria glanced at Sonata, so innocently happy. "Let's tell her." A final nod between them then they turned back around the corner to Sonata's table. "You're back! Hurry, the tacos are getting cold!" Sonata held up the two tacos, and Aria and Adagio felt guilty for a second. Adagio pushed Sonata's arms down. "Look, we...have something to tell you." she told Sonata to her face, then looked at Aria. "What is it?" Sonata's big, bubblegum pink eyes looked up at them. "Sonata, you're sweet, and we love having you around 'n all," Aria started, and it was partly a lie. "But Adagio and I...we just need some time alone. Do you understand what we're trying to say?" Sonata went silent. Was she hearing them correctly? Did they really want her to leave? "S-sure. I understand." she replied, tears filling up in her eyes. "Bye, Dagi. Bye, Aria." And she ran off into the night, Aria and Adagio staring after her. "Goodbye, Sonata." Adagio whispered, about to cry herself. Aria patted her on the back. "Sometimes I wish we weren't so mean to her." "Me too." Aria said. "But now we can get back to the important business." Adagio nodded. "So, anyway, I think I came up with a way of how to get our necklaces back." she explained. "There is a portal to Equestria somewhere, right?" "Yeah, but we can't go through, remember? We were banished here." "I know, but what if we were just trying at the wrong times? I overheard Twilight, or whatever her name is, saying once that she could only go through every thirty moons, so there is a possibility of us getting back. Anyway, there isn't any magic here, so what's stopping us?" Aria smiled, but then it vanished. "You have a point, but how do we find the portal? This world is so big, with so many places to hide something so valuable." "Well, it has to be somewhere in or near the school. How else could Twilight just pop in randomly?" "So, you're saying that we have to go back there, find a portal that could pretty much be anything, go through it, and get our powers back? Yeah, that'll be easy." Aria rolled her eyes. "Oh, come on. We've got to try it. Let's go tomorrow morning." Adagio pleaded. Aria sighed, and agreed, and so they both made their way to the abandoned bus stop station, where they called home. > We're Back, Equestria > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aria woke up first, then shook Adagio awake, as well. "Tacos...Sonata...WHA-WHAT?!" Adagio whispered in her sleep, then jerked awake. "Oh. I guess we'd better start looking." The sun hadn't fully risen, but faint light was beginning to fall across the town. Sticking to the shadows, Aria and Adagio sneaked towards Canterlot High School. It would be easier if they checked outside before breaking in, so they split up, looking for anything that might be the portal to Equestria. Now the whole sun was visible, and it was about 7:00 am. They didn't have much time. Adagio saw Aria running towards her. "I think I found it." she whispered. Adagio followed her to the big horse statue outside the front of the school, then watched her arm easily go through the solid rock. Adagio gasped, excitedly. They'd found what they were looking for. "So, what are we waiting for? Go!" Adagio shoved Aria through before going in herself. . . .
