> Daddy's Girl > by Party Pop > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Big boy > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike walked along a path in Ponyville, smiling as he strolled along to his home. He had been away at his mining camp for a while, but now he was coming home. Even though he had enjoyed spending time with his employees, he always loved getting to come home to his lovely wife, Rarity. He knew Rarity had probably not been lonely, however, as he shared his lovely alabaster bride with the friendliest, happiest mare in all of Equestria, Pinkie Pie. Pinkie made their home an exciting and happy place to live, even though she chose to live in the apartment above Sugar Cube Corner, where she worked. She would spend lots of time with her wife, though, and they had a fun time together. Spike quite enjoyed her company as well, but simply didn't have any romantic feelings for her. He beamed as he opened the front door of his home, which doubled as his wife's store, where she sold dresses and accessories that would put a smile on anypony's face. Her designs were so radiant, that they rivaled the sun in their glory, and in beauty, nearly surpassed Luna's fair moon. His heart soared whenever he saw one of her new designs. "Rarity, I'm home!" He called out, eager to see his gorgeous wife. She practically charged down the stairs and hugged him tight. Spike's eyes bulged a little as she squeezed him almost as tight as Pinkie often would to her friends. He loved his wife's sweet embrace, and the scent of her mane, soft and warm, like the fabrics she moulded to her desires, creating unique and stunning garments of her own design, which often graced the runways of Canterlot's most prestigious fashion events, and filled every high-end boutique in Equestria, and even a few of the nearby lands with a decent pony population. He stroked her cheek gently, feeling completely loved and wanted in her sweet and warm, albeit a little tight, embrace. "Oh, I missed you so much, Spikey-wikey!" She said, cuddling with him, a big smile on her face. "How was your trip? Did anything interesting happen at the camp?" She asked, always eager to hear about her husband's job. "We had a bit of a tussle with a village of some Diamond Dogs, but after making some negotiations with them, we actually gave them all new jobs and helped them improve their community!" Spike replied, beaming with pride at his accomplishment. It always felt good to help the less fortunate in Equestria by giving them employment and improved living conditions. Rarity nuzzled his cheek, pleased with the news. But she had some of her own, and perked her head back up to tell him. "Well, I have some wonderful news for you, too!" Spike's eyes lit up right away. He hadn't seen Rarity this excited in a very long time. "What is it, Rarity?" He asked, eager to see what had her in such a tizzy. She led him into a room, where Pinkie was standing, somehow having an even bigger smile on her face than Rarity. Spike was extremely curious by now, and sat down in his favorite chair, awaiting the news. Rarity looked at him, her eyes sparkling brighter than any diamond. "Well, Spike, this just might be the greatest news we've ever had!" She said, beaming upon him like Celestia's sun itself, bathing Spike in the glow of her happiness. Spike couldn't help but smile too. Whenever his beautiful bride was happy, it sent a warm, tingly feeling through his whole body, and put a big smile on his face. He adored her completely, and wished he could make her as happy as he could every second of every day. "Well, what is it, Rarity? I'm dying to know!" He said, eagerly awaiting the news. "Well, Spike, remember how we were desperately wishing for a baby of our own?" She asked. Spike's eyes shot open, as a beautiful thought came to his mind. An even bigger smile spread across his face. "Rarity, you don't mean to say..." Spike said, too excited to finish, but desperately hoping he was right. Rarity giggled. "Yes, I do! We're having a baby, Spike!" She said, clapping her front hooves together. Spike gasped in delight, breathtaken by the wonderful news. He was going to be a father! He and Rarity were going to have a precious angel of their own! He jumped out of his chair, hugging Rarity tight in joy. "Oh, Rarity! Oh, that's wonderful! I'm so excited!" He exclaimed, extremely excited. Pinkie giggled, and joined in the hug. Spike couldn't believe how lucky he was. "I know, right? This is the best thing ever!" Pinkie chimed in. "We're all going to be parents!" Spike hugged his bride tighter. Yes, he, Pinkie, and Rarity would have a tiny foal of their own. He lead Rarity over to his seat. "You shouldn't be standing in your condition, my dear." He said, ready to be a chivalrous as possible for his pregnant darling. "And you'll need some time off of work, too. I'll hire some designers to cover for you, and you'll have time to-" "Whatever do you mean, Spike?" Rarity asked, confused. Spike looked up at his love. "Well, a pregnant mare such as yourself needs a lot of rest." Rarity laughed. "Oh, Spike, darling, I'm not pregnant, it's Pinkie!" She said, amused at his antics. Spike's heart sank as a look of complete shock came across his face. He was so shocked, in fact, that he could only manage to get one sentence out. "Wait, what?" > Feeling small > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rarity paced on the carpet of her home, completely stressed and worried. Her husband, Spike, the love of her life, her knight in scaly armor, had not taken the news of their upcoming bundle of joy the way she had expected. Yes, he wasn't the biological father, but that didn't mean he wouldn't be the baby's daddy. She had expected they would have an evening of happiness together, possibly ending in snuggle time with Spike and Pinkie, besides herself. Instead, he had looked very confused, and walked out of the room into some other part of the house. Pinkie was perky and oblivious to the situation, instead bouncing around the room, squealing in excitement. Her mouth was going a mile a minute, as if it would never stop. "Oh my gosh, isn't this exciting? We're going to have our first baby together as a family! I can't wait to tell all our friends the good news! And there's so many baby-related parties we can throw! We can have a naming party, a "Congratulations on your upcoming baby" party, a baby shower, an "It's a girl" or "It's a boy" party, and then there's so many birthday parties and congratulatory parties after the baby's born! This is the best thing ever! Don't you think so too, Spike?" She said, looking over her shoulder. Only then did she notice that Spike had left. A small frown came over her face. "Spike?..." "Spike walked out five minutes ago, Pinkie." Rarity said flatly. Pinkie's hair almost visibly deflated as her spirits fell. "But why? Isn't he excited about the baby? He's going to be a daddy!" She asked, stunned that he wasn't as excited as they were. "I don't know, Pinkie. He looked heartbroken when he walked out." Rarity replied, seeming rather depressed herself. She had been hoping he would be excited about their new baby, like she was. Then, out of the blue, Pinkie said the last thing Rarity had expected. "Maybe he thinks it's just our baby?" She said, looking over at Rarity. Rarity's eyes shot wide open. Of course! That had to be it! He wasn't the biological father, so maybe he didn't think of himself as the father at all! He must have taken the news as a rejection, not a happy occurance for him too! Rarity ran for the door of the room, desperate to soothe the injured feelings of the dragon she loved so dearly. "Wait! Where are you going, Rarity?" Pinkie called out, reaching a hoof out to her love. Rarity looked over her shoulder as she dashed out. "To Spike, of course!" She said, slightly aggravated. Pinkie watched her go, then shrugged and got to work. She had a lot of parties to plan. > It's complicated > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike sat upon his bed, curling into a ball as he stewed in his misery. Rarity had rejected his affections, going so far as to make a child with another mare rather than him. A tear ran down his face as he sniffled. He had always thought that Rarity would have her first child with him, not someone else, especially not another mare. He felt as if Rarity would rather be with Pinkie than himself. He wondered if maybe he should go, and let his beloved be happy with the mare she had chosen. Suddenly, the door burst open, and he was quite surprised to see a very concerned Rarity in the doorway. She walked up to him and wiped a tear from his cheek gently. He looked up into her big, bright blue eyes, shining like sapphires in the light. Man, even when he was upset with her, he found her stunningly beautiful. "Spike, darling, are you alright? You seemed very upset earlier." Rarity said, knowing full well what the answer was, but wanting to let him get it off his chest. "Well, I think I have a right to be upset, Rarity. You pretty much rejected me completely! What happened to us starting a family? Now that you and Pinkie are having a baby, I'm worried that you and I never will." Spike replied, trying to hold back further tears. Rarity stroked his cheek gently with a kind smile. "Oh, Spike, Darling, you took it the wrong way entirely. I'm not rejecting you at all! We've tried so very, very hard to have a child together, but nothing seemed to work. Pinkie and I wanted you to have the chance to be a father, so she and I are having a baby... With you, not in exclusion of you! You will be the baby's father, it'll just have two mothers, that's all! Rarity said, hugging her favorite dragon gently. Spike's eyes lit up almost at once. "Wait, so it's my baby too?" He asked, finally putting the pieces together. "Yes, of course! And I can't think of anypony else who would be a better father for our baby than you, Spike!" She said, kissing his cheek. Spike smiled wide and hugged Rarity, his happiness restored. "Oh, Rarity! You really are the best wife ever!" Spike said gleefully. "But there's still one thing I don't understand..." "What might that be, my dearest?" Rarity asked, eager to keep him in a good mood. "How did you and Pinkie make a baby together?" He asked, very curious about the origins of his new baby. Rarity blushed, and gave him a book. He looked at the cover, and it said "Mare Anatomy for Dummies" "Start there, darling." Rarity replied, walking back downstairs. Spike opened the book, and began to read. He spent the next hour reading all about a mare's most private parts, and how a unicorn mare could use her horn in a very special way to make a child with another mare. After he was done reading about what was basically kinky lesbian sex, he walked back downstairs to the two mares in his living room. He had a devious expression on his face as he eyed a surprised Rarity, saying only one thing to her. "And you didn't invite me?" > It's a girl! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike paced anxiously outside the door of a hospital room, biting his lip a little with worry. Pinkie had gone into labor not long ago, and Rarity had gone in to check on her. It had been an hour, and she hadn't come back. He wondered if Pinkie was ok, or if something had gone wrong. Was Pinkie doing alright? Was the baby ok? What was Rarity doing? If only he could go in... The doctors hadn't let him, because he wasn't the biological father. Rarity had made a fuss about this, since it was still his baby anyway, but to no avail. Suddenly, the door opened, and a white mare with light pink hair in a bun (he was pretty sure she was a nurse) poked her head out. "Mr. Dragon, you can come in now." She said. Spike took a deep breath, knowing that his whole life was about to change. Behind that door was a whole new world, one full of nursing, diapers, first steps, cuddles, boo-boos, responsibilities, joy, pain, first words, growing up, and tiny miracles, a world where he wouldn't be just "Spike" anymore. A world where he was "Daddy" too. Spike walked into the room, slightly nervous at what might be within. Pinkie was laying on the hospital bed, with Rarity by her side, tears of joy sparkling in her sapphire eyes. And in Pinkie's arms, something tiny was wrapped up in a blanket. Spike walked up to Rarity's side, and took a peek. What he saw took his breath away. "Wow..." He said, stunned by how tiny and precious the foal was. It had Rarity's soft white fur, and the same color mane, but Pinkie's bouncy curls. A smile spread across his face as he gazed upon the tiny baby. "Isn't she precious, Spike?" Rarity asked him, not taking her gaze off of the sweet little foal. Spike's eyes lit up. The baby was a girl? He smiled even wider. He hadn't said what gender of child he wanted when others had asked, saying either was fine, but secretly, he had really, really wanted a girl. He could protect and cherish her, much like Rarity. He could be the big, strong, loving daddy who was always there for his little girl, the one who went to every ballet recital, who kissed every boo-boo, who helped her pick out her prom dress, and who would comfort her after a bad date (and methodically destroy whoever had dared to hurt his baby girl). He hugged Rarity gently, feeling a swelling joy and love like nothing he had ever known. "Yes, yes she is, Rarity. She's absolutely perfect." He said, looking at his sweet little baby girl. Pinkie smiled at him, and stroked the baby's mane. "Do you want to hold her, Spike?" She asked, wanting to make sure he got to cuddle with his new baby girl. He looked down at the tiny baby, a small tear of joy in his eye. "Yes, I would love to." He said. Rarity used her magic to carry the baby to him, and he wrapped his arms around her gently. He looked into her tiny, sweet face, and stroked her fluffy purple mane. She opened her eyes and looked up at him, revealing her gorgeous blue eyes. He gasped slightly, breathtaken again by how perfect his new baby was. She smiled, and raised a hoof to touch his cheek, gurgling happily. He kissed her forehead gently, which made her giggle happily. "I already love you so much, my sweet, tiny angel..." He said, hugging her close. Rarity and Pinkie looked at each other with a smile, knowing Spike would be a perfect father for their baby, and the four of them would be a very happy family from now on. > SURPRISE CHAPTER!!! Daddy?... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- On most days, Party Pop enjoyed school. Her teacher was nice to her, along with the rest of her friends, and she got to play with her friends on the playground, and her classes were fun too. Then, she could come home to her loving family. But this was not most days. On this day, instead of running home with glee to the warm embraces of her moms and dad, her vision blurred over as she held in her sobs, the sound of her tiny hooves pounding against the dirt road like a miniature hurricane. She almost slammed into the front door of her home, but managed to skid to a screeching halt mere inches away. She bit her lip as she quickly wiped her tears away with her hoof and reached for the door. As she walked in, the familiar comforts of home surrounded her like a gentle, soft blanket. Her mother's delicious baking could be smelled warming in the oven, and the faint hum of the sewing machine purred in a nearby room as her father read a newspaper in his favorite armchair while munching on tumbled Pyrite shards. On most days, this would have been enough to bring a gleeful smile to the tiny filly's face. But this was not most days. Spike looked up from his newspaper as he heard the door, smiling as he realized who it must have been. When he saw the bruise on Pop's eye, and the look on her face, though, the smile was wiped off of his own face in an instant. "Sweetie, what's wrong?" he asked, setting his newspaper aside as she came into the room. Pop looked at the floor for a while, not saying anything. Spike's brow furrowed in worry as her tiny body shook. Suddenly, she leapt onto his lap, clinging to his warm, scaly body as sobs shook her body, tears streaming down her snowy white face. Spike held her close, stroking her back gently. He hadn't seen her cry this hard since she was teething as an infant, and it pained him to see her like this. Pinkie and Rarity soon rushed into the room, having heard her cries, but Spike held up a hand to keep them at bay for the moment. He feared that if they joined in right now, it would only aggravate the filly more. He hugged her close gently as he stroked her mane. "Shh... It's ok, it's ok... What happened, my little gem?" he asked, cuddling her gently. Pop sniffled as she finally gained enough composure to speak. "D...Daddy... Am I a freak?" she asked. Spike was shocked. "W... Wait, what? Of course you're not, sweetie! why would you think that?" he asked, stunned by her simple question. Pop sobbed, burying her face in her father's scales. Fortunately, Spike had very good ears, and didn't miss a thing. "Rosemary Snow and her friends were making fun of mommy, and I told them to stop, and then they said I was a freak and called mommy something I didn't understand... I think it was called a 'futa'? I told Rosemary not to talk about my mommy like that, so she started teasing you instead... She called you a big, ugly lizard who just cares about gold and gems and stuff, something called a "hoard"... She said you weren't even my daddy! She said you didn't care about me or mommy, so I told her to shut up, and then she hit me and told me that I needed to be nice to ponies who were better than me..." Pop sniffled as she finished her tale. Spike was horrified. How could a filly his daughter's age say something so awful to her? Who would be so horrid as to teach one so young such cruel things? "Oh, Pop..." He said as he stroked her mane gently. He didn't care who that filly was, or who had taught her that. Right now, he had a daughter to comfort. "Hon, you're not a freak. That filly just didn't know better. Some ponies think that two mares shouldn't love each other, because they think it's morally wrong, but that doesn't make it true. I don't know why they think it's fine to love more than one pony, but not one of the same gender, but that's how it is. Your moms both love you very much..." Spike held up his little girl and kissed her forehead, looking into her big, sapphire eyes, just like her mother's... "And so do I." he said, with a tone of solid finality. He cared. Period. No question about it, he loved his little girl more than any treasure in the world. Pop sniffled as she wiped her face, taking care to avoid her bruise. "But what about your 'hoard' daddy? Don't you love that?" she asked. Spike smiled as he pulled her back in for a hug, fluffing her soft, curly purple mane. "Yes, I love my hoard more than anything in the world. My hoard is small, but it's growing every day, and I take great pride in keeping it safe. I'd do anything to protect it and keep it in perfect condition, and to me, it's the most valuable thing in the world. But my hoard isn't made of gems, or gold, or slaves, or anything else dragons usually keep." Spike looked down into his baby girl's perfect little face, which reflected both of her mom's features perfectly. He gave her head another kiss as he whispered to her. "My hoard is you, my little treasure, and I wouldn't trade you for the finest jewel." Pop smiled as she hugged the big, warm dragon she held so dearly in her heart as her mothers came closer to join the hug. "I love you, daddy."
