Celestia yawned as she headed for the balcony, ready to lower the sun for the day. She opened the balcony doors, greeting the cool air with a smile. Her cool air was interrupted by a blast of hot, humid air. She opened her eyes to see Discord in a bathing suit.

"Why hello there, Celestia. How are you this fine evening?" He popped into his default birthday suit, the swim trunks disintegrating into thin air.

"Well, I'm tired. I was just about to lower the sun, so..." She tried to move past him, but he replicated himself to stand in her way at all times. She looked up at him with an unamused stare, and all of the Discord replicas disappeared.

"I was just thinking, why not go on a picnic with my favorite princess?" He snapped his talons and the sun was instantly lowered and replaced with the moon. "There. See? No more responsibilities for the day. So, what do you say?"

"I...suppose it wouldn't hurt." She muttered reluctantly. In a snap, they were teleported to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Prance, a picnic blanket already spread out for them.

"So, what do you think of the view?" Discord asked, pouring wine into two glasses. Celestia was rather impressed with the view, but not with her company.

"Perhaps we could go someplace else. I don't particularly fancy Prance." She said with an innocent smile. Discord nodded and snapped his talons. Celestia found herself in the air beside Big Buck in England.

"How's this?" Discord asked, spreading out his arms to signify the large city. Celestia groaned in frustration, giving him an irritated look.

"Perhaps someplace less...wow?" She suggested, suspicious as to why he was doing this. He nodded and snapped his talons. They reappeared on a hill seeming to be in the middle of nowhere. Celestia saw a large field in front of them filled with animals and flowers of all kinds, and she could easily see the stars above her.

"How about this one?" Discord asked, sitting down. Awestruck, Celestia stood, taking in the view around her.

"This field...I've been here. A long time ago." She wiped away a tear and looked back at Discord, who had a rather grumpy look on his face. "What's wrong?"

"Oh, nothing." He snapped his fingers, and the sky was filled with falling meteors. He smiled and glanced over at Celestia, who was watching the sky with a smile. "We're friends, right?"

"What?" Celestia turned back in surprise, a little taken aback by his question. Discord nervously scratched the back of his head, becoming embarrassed.

"Well, I'm friends with Fluttershy and Twilight, but...that's not very many friends, is it?" He leaned forward, placing his arms on his knees. "We've been enemies for so long, and now we're allies. It's a big step. I'm not even sure if you trust me."

"Discord,"

"No, no, no. I AM sure! You don't trust me. Then again, who could blame you?"

"Discord."

"I'm only asking because if we were friends, then that would mean you trust me. Friendship is all about trust. I don't regret taking over Equestria, but I do regret the fact that I treated you with such cruelty! I mean, I'm not like-"

"Discord!" He stopped, looking up at Celestia in surprise. She let out a relieved sigh before looking at him with a smile. "Is that why you took me on a picnic?"

"Why else would I?" He asked with a confused expression. She giggled and shook her head in disbelief.

"Oh, Discord. Do you really think Prance and England are the best places to be taking your allies? Just imagine what they would think!" She giggled some more, only confusing him even more.

"What do you mean? I like Prance and England." He stated, crossing his arms with a frown. Celestia stopped laughing, looking at him just to make sure he wasn't giving her his devious grin.

"Wait, you're serious?" She snickered again, holding up a hoof to excuse herself. "I apologize. It's just that, well, the top of the Eiffel Tower and Big Buck are somewhat...romantic." She struggled not to laugh again, lest she hurt his feelings.

"Wait, you're saying that I was romantic without realizing it? Wait!" He jumped up, stretching out his arms dramatically. "I was romantic with you!?"

"Um...yes?" Celestia didn't know whether to be relieved or insulted. Discord slapped his face with his eagle claw.

"Doh...I was only trying to impress you. Wait, no! That didn't come out right! What I meant is that I wanted you to like me! Wait, no, that didn't come out right either!"

"Discord, calm down!" Celestia tried to stop his outburst of panic, but the draconequus was too much for her.

"It was supposed to be a peace offering! I was trying to get you to like me! Uh, platonically!" He held his talons against the bridge of his muzzle, trying to calm down. "Well, this is quite the story for your star student."

"Twilight isn't my student anymore, Discord. Besides, even if she was, even if we were sharing secrets, I would not embarrass you like that." Celestia replied with a small giggle. Discord smiled and awkwardly scratched his cheek.

"Well, to be honest...I've always thought you were a good ruler."

"Really?" Celestia asked, surprised by the sudden compliment.

"Yes. You treat your subjects with kindness and fairness, and I'm a little jealous of how much Twilight looks up to you." He said, scratching his neck. Celestia felt herself blushing at Discord's unexpected compliments.

"Well, I've always adored how you find humor in anything. I wish I was like that." Celestia replied with a nervous laugh.

"I admire how you put your subjects before yourself. Such as in the case of Nightmare Moon!"

"I admire how you never let anything stop you."

"And I'm jealous of how good you look after so many years!" Discord shouted with a large grin. Celestia's smile vanished and she glared at him. His smile disappeared as well as he realized what he had said. "Oh, that came out wrong."

"Yeah." Celestia kept her glare, and it only intensified as Discord continued.

"I meant that you look great for your age! No, that's not right! Uh...you...look...fantastic?" He sighed and hung his head. "Oh, come on, you know what I mean."

"Yes, you mean to say that I look beautiful!" Celestia said with a giggle, letting her grudge disappear. Discord let out a nervous laugh, nodding.

"Well, yes. That's what I meant." He snapped his talons and they appeared in Celestia's quarters. Discord walked towards the door, now in a steampunk outfit. He grabbed the doorknob and turned back to Celestia, waving his hat to her. "Tata for now! I shall see you once the sun rises, and remember! An enemy turned ally, is an ally for life." With that, he left, leaving Celestia alone in her bedroom.

She slipped off her regalia and lightly brushed her mane, taking a deep breath and sighing in relief, as another day had come to an end. There was a bright flash behind her, and when she turned around she saw Discord holding up a camera.

"Discord!" She shrieked and threw the brush at him, but he easily dodged it.

"Sorry, Tia! I just couldn't resist the urge to see you without that stupid jewelry!" He then popped away, leaving the vintage camera, the picture, and a note.

Celestia let out a frustrated sigh and levitated the camera onto her vanity, at the same time levitating the picture and note to her face. She let out a surprised yell as she saw that the picture was not of her, but a suggestive picture of Discord lying on his stomach facing away from the camera. She groaned and tossed it into her trash bin, reading the note.

Dear Tia,

Hope you like the picture! It was awfully difficult timing the camera right and getting into just the right spot. Ha! Just kidding! It was very easy because I have magic!

Anywho, I'm gonna keep a picture of you just like it, to signify our close friendship! I will keep it on my night table and look at it EVERY night. I meant what I said when I said you were beautiful! LOL JK. (That means just kidding by the way)

I won't tell anypony that we're friends, so you don't need to worry about getting a letter from Twilight. It's our little secret. I must say, however, that it is a nice change from wanting you encased in stone. Instead of stone, I want you encased in icing so you can lick yourself off!

Ok, that sounded weird, but you get my point. The original point of this letter was to remind you that we are BFFs now! I'll be getting you a half-heart necklace with a picture of me inside as soon as possible. Allies for life!

Discord.

Celestia sighed and shook her head with a smile, slightly impressed at how ridiculous Discord could be. She placed the letter on her vanity next to the camera, and paused, staring at the picture still in the trash bin. She rolled her eyes and plucked it out of the trash, placing it next to the camera as well. Heading to bed, she muttered to herself,

"Allies for life."
