Friendship Forever

Princess Twilight approached her human counterpart, who gazed at the ground in shame.

She smiled and extended a hand.

"No." Human Twilight said. "I don't deserve forgiveness."

"Everyone deserves a second chance." Pony Twilight said, kneeling down to meet her counterpart's gaze.

"Even after all that I did to you and your friends?" Native Twilight asked, a bit of surprise in her voice.

Twilight nodded. "Yes."

"I thought the same..." Sunset Shimmer said, walking over to them. "I thought that I didn't deserve forgiveness, but Twilight and her friends offered me their Friendship. When I accepted it, they helped me to become a better person."

"How did you live with what you had done?" Human Twilight asked. "Didn't it bother you?"

"Yes, for a while..." Sunset replied. "But then I came to realize that my past had made who I am today. Had I not stolen Twilight's crown and become a raging-she-demon..." She chuckled. "I would have never met Twilight, or even learned the magic and strength of Friendship."

"So are you saying that I should take a chance to learn from my mistakes?" Human Twilight asked.

Pony Twilight and Sunset Shimmer nodded.
"So what do you say?" Twilight asked. "Will you accept out friendship?" She held out her hand.

Human Twilight thought for a moment. "Yes." She said with a soft smile. The whole student body cheered with excitement.

Sunset and Twilight hugged her. They quickly pulled away from one another, finding that they had been burned. Princess Twilight completely passed out.

"Twilight!!!!" Sunset exclaimed. She shook her friend trying to get her wake up, and then, another thing caught Sunset's attention, as well as many others'. The portal's surface rippled violently and Pony Twilight's ears, wings, and tail, faded. She groaned and began to wake up.

"Twilight, are you okay?" Sunset asked, a bit of panic in her voice.

Princess Twilight's eyes opened about halfway and she nodded. Sunset gave a relieved sigh.

Native Twilight looked over Sunset shoulder. "What happened there?" She asked.

Pony Twilight rubbed her head. "I have no idea."

Sunset and Human Twilight attempted to help Princess Twilight up, only for Pony Twilight to let go of her counterpart's hand.

"Ouch!" Both Twilights exclaimed.

Sunset Shimmer helped Princess Twilight up. She stumbled around for a minute before she could see straight again.

Pony Twilight looked at her Human Counterpart. "Okay, I'm obviously not supposed to touch you for some reason."

Princess Twilight looked over at Sunset who fearfully stared at something. She looked in the direction that her friend was looking. She saw the portal and its surface rippling very very violently.

Pony Twilight cautiously approached the portal. She felt a strange pull. After thinking for a minute, a thought crossed her mind.

"I think I know what's going on." She said.

"What is it?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"I think that, when she and I touch..." Twilight gestured to her human opposite. "That it puts stress on the Portal's Magic Containment Field."

"And that's a bad thing?" Rainbow asked.

"Yes!" Princess Twilight replied. "The Portal's Magic Containment Field is what keeps our two worlds from colliding and destroying one another!"

"So, does that mean, the Portal is startin' ta weaken?" Applejack asked.

Pony Twilight studied the portal thoughtfully before answering. "I'm afraid I don't know."

"Wait..." Sunset said. "Touching her didn't just burn you."

Princess Twilight and the others gazed at Sunset's burned arms.

"Hmm..." Pony Twilight said thoughtfully.

"Maybe you just have to stay away from me, science I seem to be the only one that burns you." Native Twilight spoke up.

"Maybe," Princess Twilight said. She cautiously touched Rarity who was standing next to her. Nothing happened. "Phew."

"Yes indeed." Rarity said. "I don't know what that kind of burn would've done to my outfit."

Applejack and Rainbow Dash rolled their eyes.

Pony Twilight continued to watch the portal. "Maybe when I leave, it'll go away?"

"One way to find out," Sunset Shimmer said.

Pony Twilight stepped through the portal, hoping that it would fix the problem.

The girls watched the portal carefully. It continued to ripple at a violent rate.

"Maybe...It'll work if Sunset goes through too." Fluttershy quietly suggested. "You know...since she's a pony."

Sunset thought for a moment before nodding. She took a deep breath before she walked through it. That last time I was in Equestria, I stole Twilight's crown.

"Sunset, what are you doing here?" Twilight asked.

"Fluttershy suggested that maybe it would stop if I went through as well." Sunset replied.

"So it didn't stop when I went through?" Twilight asked. Sunset shook her head.

There was a buzzing sound from behind Twilight; she turned to see her book that she used to speak to Sunset.

She opened it and read the message. "They said it's still acting strange." Twilight said.

"I'm not sure I really like this." Sunset said.

"You and me both," Twilight replied as they jumped back through the portal.

"I don't understand this, why is it acting this way?" Rarity asked.

"We don't know." Sunset replied, helping Twilight to her feet.

Suddenly, a magical field appeared around the portal. The wind picked up and Princess Twilight and Sunset felt a sense of warning.

"What's happening?" Fluttershy asked fearfully.

"We don't know, but I don't like it." Pony Twilight said.

The magic field pulsed, and with each pulse, Sunset and Pony Twilight felt their fear grow. The field suddenly cracked and the ground shook. Sunset stumbled a bumped into one of the students. "Ouch!"

Sunset had been burned, and so had the other student. "What in the world?!" Sunset exclaimed.

"So I'm not the only one who burns you then." Native Twilight

"But why? Why does it burn us when we touch others?" Princess Twilight though aloud to herself.

"It didn't burn me when you touched me." Rarity pointed out.

"True..." Pony Twilight replied. "But why?"

"Maybe, because they possess some Equestrian Magic?" Sunset suggested.

"I suppose that would make sense." Her friend replied.

"Maybe it burns us, because...The others don't possess Equestrian Magic..." Sunset though to herself aloud. "And now the portal may be rejecting our magic in this world causing an imbalance, and making it dangerous. If that even makes sense."

"But if you’re right..." Princess Twilight said, gazing at the portal. "The imbalance has weakened the portals Magic Containment Field, meaning...

"The portal is failing." Sunset finished.

"So what does that mean?" Applejack asked.

"The safety of our worlds is at stake..." Pony Twilight replied. "If the portal fails and it Magic Containment Field breaks, our worlds will be destroyed."

"Can you fix it?" Fluttershy asked.

"Well..." It suddenly hit Princess Twilight, and much to her fear, she knew what would have to happen. "There is one way."

"Well then, just say the word and we'll help!" Pinkie Pie stated cheerfully.

They awaited an answer as Twilight thought. I don't want this to happen; I've hoped with all my heart that this would never happen but...
It has to.

"Once we leave..." Princess Twilight took a deep breath. "You have to destroy the portal."

"WHAT?!" Everyone exclaimed.

Pony Twilight nodded struggling to hold back the downpour of tears that waited to be spilled. "It's the only way." She said in hoarse whisper, her voice cracking.

"What do you mean 'we'?" Sunset Shimmer asked.

"You'll have to return to Equestria too." Princess Twilight said.

The girls gasped.

"But why?!" Rainbow asked, her voice full of sadness and pain. "It's enough that we have to lose you, why her too?"

"The Equestrian Magic that Sunset and I possess has now become a threat to our worlds' balance. So with her hear, you still risk our worlds being destroyed." Pony Twilight said with a sob.

"But what about our magic?" Applejack asked.

"That magic of your Friendship will remain, but your Equestrian Magic will be cut off when the portal is destroyed." Princess Twilight replied.

"But...we're gonna miss...you both...so much!" Fluttershy cried out, sobbing between almost every word. She clung to both Twilight and Sunset in a hug.

"Oh, I can't stand to see her upset." Rarity said with a sob and a sniff. "Oh we're gonna miss you two girls!" She said, completely braking down as she hugged them.

The rest of the group joined in as they all hugged Pony Twilight and Sunset Shimmer. Native Twilight stood there, mixed emotions danced crossed her face before she gazed sadly at the seven and joined the hug.

Sunset sniffed and Princess Twilight completely broke down crying like she had never cried before, making everyone fell more pain.

Sunset, Rarity, and Fluttershy hugged Twilight harder, trying to comfort her, but they didn't prevail.

"It doesn't...matter what hap..pens...you all...will...al..ways have a special...place in my heart." Princess Twilight said through her sniffs and sobs, which caused the others to seem to cry more. Sunset started crying and she hugged whoever was nearest really hard.

"We're gonna miss ya girl." Applejack said with a sad smile.

"How do you keep your...self together in a...time like this Applejack?!" Rarity exclaimed, still crying. "You're better at it..then Rainbow Dash." She looked over at Rainbow, who at the mention of her name looked up revealing her tear-filled eyes.

"Don't you guys...know that Applejack...cries on the...insi-i-i-ide!" Pinkie said between sobs as she cried, her hair deflated.

"Hey...i-it's true." Applejack replied with a sniff.

The girls continued to embrace one another sadly. Finally they gathered enough strength to let go of one another.

Suddenly there was a shockwave that came from the portal, and they watched in horror as the foundation of the statue cracked.

"We have to go!" Princess Twilight said.

Sunset and Pony Twilight gazed toward the crowd of students, who had seen the whole thing. Some were crying, while others were filled with sadness.

"Good-bye...everyone!" Sunset Shimmer said, tears still rolling down her cheeks. "I love each and every one of you as if you were my family. I just want you to know that I will never forget any of you." She gave a sad smile.

"Nor will I forget any of you!" Princess Twilight said. “All of us have been through so much together as friends. And as long as you remember the memories here, we will never truly be gone!" She also gave a tearful smile. "And no matter what..."

"Always remember that..." Sunset continued.

"FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC!!!" Cheered the whole student body.

Looking at her human counterpart, Twilight smiled. "I know that you will do fine!"

Native Twilight smiled. "I hope and pray that you're right."

"I have faith in you." Princess Twilight replied, turning to the crowd of sad students, Sunset and Princess Twilight yelled: "Good-bye everyone!!!"

Sunset walked through the portal and as Twilight went to do the same thing..."Twilight wait!!!"

She turned to see Flash running toward her. He stopped about two feet in front of her, gazing at her with sad eyes.

"So...I-I guess this is good-bye...forever." He said.

Twilight looked down at her boots and nodded. "Yeah..." Her voice cracked.

Flash wanted so badly to give her a hug. He tried but Twilight stepped back. "Don't..." She said. "I-I'll burn you..." She sniffed before making brief eye contact with him.

"I don't care." Flash said, taking a step forward.

Twilight stepped back. "I don't want to hurt you."

"You won't." He replied.

"But if you touch me..." Twilight trailed.

"It doesn't matter." Flash responded, taking a smaller step forward.

"I'll burn you!" Twilight exclaimed, tears filling her eye as she gazed at him sadly.

There was a silence, as tears flowed down Twilight's cheeks as she gazed down at her boots.

"You already have." Flash said.

The next thing that Twilight knew, Flash wrapped his arms around her and pulled her towards him, her lips landing on his. Twilight tensed up and her eyes widened, her face turning a bright shade of red. She heard her heart pounding in her ears and her vision blurred.

After recovering from her surprise, she closed her eyes and kissed him back.

After about fifteen seconds, they broke apart for air. They stared into one another’s eyes, their face equal shades of red.

"I love you." Twilight said softly.

"I love you too, and always will." Flash replied.

They smiled and Twilight turned to leave. She took a deep breath...and passed through the portal for the last time.

"No matter what happens...no matter what trials may come to pass, Friendship will always last. Even if you say good-bye to your best friends, as long as you remember the memories that you made together, they will never truly be gone. They will always have a special place in your heart. And even though the portal to Canterlot High has been destroyed, I will always remember the friends and memories that we made there. Sunset and I will never forget our past there with one another. We will both miss them all. Even after all of this has come to pass, I still have the feeling
that one day... We Will See Them Again"
