> Doctor Whooves: The Changeling Invasion > by Draconaquest > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > It's too cold! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "It's too cold!" Twilight exclaimed, wrapping up in her jacket, proceeding to walk forward, dragging her suitcase behind her. "Welcome to winter..." Sunset replied, bluntly, though she was shivering as well. "It never got this cold at Crystal Prep!" Twilight said, pushing up her glasses. Sunset cocked her head to the side. "I thought Crystal Prep was up north." "It is." Twilight said. "So, doesn't it get colder up there?" Sunset asked. "That's a stereotype!" Twilight snapped, "It's actually warmer there!" She was having to shout, as the blizzard was blowing harder. "Well, you wanted to transfer here!" Sunset shouted, using her hood to block the wind and the snow. "I didn't know that the day I moved here there'd be a blizzard!" Twilight said, whipping her glasses, which were fogging up in the cold. "Well, don't worry, we're almost there!" Sunset replied. The two girls pushed forwards, making their way to Sunset's house. When they got there, Sunset opened the door, let Twilight enter, and quickly shut the door, locking it. "Okay, it is cold." Sunset acknowledged. "T-t-told you so." Twilight said, who was still shivering. "Yes, you did." Sunset said, smiling. Twilight, still shivering, looked around. "W-w-wow. Y-y-you've got a r-r-really nice place." The furniture was all black leather and very tasteful, with dark red wood end tables and a black lacquered coffee table placed in front of the leather sofa, a comfortable-looking swivel rocker stationed at either end. A flat screen TV hung on one wall, wires trailing down into various electronics on a set of shelves beneath it. Across the room from it was a tall set of shelves full of books, knick-knacks, and awards. A desk with an all-in-one computer stood next to this, with a simple office chair and wastebasket stationed nearby. At the rear of the living room, separated by a bar with a faux granite top, was a small, well-appointed, spotlessly clean kitchen. To the left of the kitchen, a hallway led further into the house. "I just got it," Sunset said, pulling off her winter coat, "I fell into some money, and, bought this place, as well as all the decorations." "N-n-nice." Twilight stuttered. "You okay?" Sunset asked, walking towards her. "Y-y-yeah, just a l-l-little c-c-cold." Twilight said. "Here, you just sit down," Sunset said, guiding Twilight to the sofa, "I'll turn the temperature up, and make some hot chocolate, okay?" "Th-th-thanks." Twilight said, sitting down. Sunset walked over to the thermostat, turned up the temperature, and walked into the kitchen. "So, what classes do you plan to take at Canterlot High?" "Th-th-the same classes I took at Crystal Prep." Twilight said, starting to warm up. Sunset pulled out sugar, cocoa, salt, and a large bowl, pouring the ingredients into it, and mixing them with a whisk. "Which were?" "W-w-well, the basics, like math, science, etcetera, as well as my electives, such as some computer classes, as well as an extra chemistry class." Twilight said, now pulling off her winter coat. "Nice." Sunset replied, pulling out two mugs from the microwave, and adding two tablespoons of the cocoa mixture into each mug, mixing it together. "Well, I'll tell you one thing: the students at Canterlot High are a lot nicer and accepting than the students at Crystal Prep." "I know, you told me before." Twilight said, smiling slightly, as Sunset walked out of the kitchen carrying two mugs, handing on to Twilight, as she sat on the swiveling chair. "By the way, thank you for letting me stay here until I find a place of my own." She took a sip of her hot chocolate. "My pleasure," Sunset said, also taking a sip from her mug. Then she heard a knock at her door. Sunset looked up, with a confused look on her face. "Who could that be?" She asked, looking towards Twilight. "Carolers?" Twilight asked, as Sunset stood up, heading towards the door. "In this weather?" Sunset asked, peering through the peephole. Unfortunately, the snow was so blinding, she couldn't see who was there. She opened the door, and was taken by shock as who was standing there. A tall man, probably six feet tall, was standing there. He was wearing a balaclava with a fedora over it, and goggles protecting his eyes. He had a long, multi-colored scarf which was wrapped around his neck several times, concealing his mouth, along with his neck. He was wearing a long, brown trench coat, buttoned up, which concealed most of his body. The man pushed his way past Sunset, into the house, and spoke, which was muffled by the scarf. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" Sunset asked. The man put up his index finger, and proceeded to remove his hat, as well as his scarf, revealing his mouth. He moved his goggles, showing soft brown eyes, "I said," he said, his voice sounding familiar. He pulling off the balaclava, revealing his aftershave, spikey hair sticking up, as well as side-burns, "Merry Christmas." The Doctor grinned. > It's been a while... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You would not believe what I had to do to get here!" the Doctor exclaimed, unbuttoning his trench coat, "I parked my TARDIS around your old apartment thinking I'd pay you a visit, but, then I discovered you weren't living there anymore, so, I looked you up in the phone book, figuring I'd find you there, only to discover that it hadn't been updated. So, I then had to go to Pinkie Pie's house to ask her where you lived, and, Pinkie being Pinkie, talked my ear off for half an hour, just so could get to the questions, and then I had to run through the blizzard just to get here!" He pulled off his coat, and hung it on the coat rack. He was wearing his brown suit, with a white shirt and black tie."I've had a hell of an afternoon." The Doctor walked into the kitchen, and opened the fridge. "Look at all this junk food. Do you actually eat this stuff? Sunset walked over to the fridge, and closed it. "Doctor, what are you doing here?" The Doctor moved past Sunset, and into the living room, "I just wanted to see you, that's all. After all, it is Christmas, isn't it?" "It's a week before, actually." Sunset said, following the Doctor. "Oh, Twilight, hello!" the Doctor exclaimed, entering the living room. "How've you been?" "I'm good, thanks." Twilight said. "By the way, what day is it?" The Doctor asked. "Sunday," Sunset said, "the Twentieth." "So, five days until Christmas." The Doctor said, "I got here early." "Well, there's a Christmas Party at the school on the twenty-fourth." Sunset said. "Oh, really?" the Doctor asked. "I might attend. Depends on the situation." "What situation?" Sunset asked. "Whether or not there's something going on or not," the Doctor explained, "and, knowing my luck, it will be terrible." The Doctor immediately knocked three times on Sunset's desk. "What was that for?" Twilight asked. "I don't want to jinx it." the Doctor replied. "So, five days until Christmas. What do you plan on doing until then?" "Well," Sunset began, "I'm helping Twilight find her own place, since she doesn't have one yet. She's staying with me until then. Although, we still do have school until Wednesday, but, judging by the state of this weather, unless the snow stops falling, and the plows clear the road by tomorrow, I have a feeling school will be cancelled." Suddenly, Sunset's phone began ringing. "Speak of the devil." She put the phone on speaker, as Principal Celestia spoke, "To all students, and their guardians, tomorrow, Monday, December Twenty-First, school will be cancelled all day, due to a snow emergency. However, because of this, there will be school on Thursday, December Twenty-Fourth. I apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your time, and we look forward to seeing the students on Tuesday." "What?" Sunset exclaimed. "Who has school on Christmas Eve?" "Apparently, Canterlot High." the Doctor said, bluntly. Sunset smirked, and raised an eyebrow. "Still though, we're stuck in the house for a while." "Yeah, me too." the Doctor said. Twilight cocked her head to the side. "Why?" "I parked the TARDIS a few miles away. This weather would kill me if I went outside again, and I really don't want to use a regeneration today. And, with how much snow that will be piled up, it will take a while to dig the TARDIS out of the snow. I'm stuck in here with the rest of you." Sunset smiled. "Well, that outta be fun." "Yeah..." the Doctor replied, his voice trailing off. "What?" Sunset asked. "It's just um..." the Doctor stuttered, "I'm not very good at staying in one place." "It's just a day." Sunset replied. "Yeah, I know." the Doctor said. The three sat in silence, before Sunset said. "It's pushing six o' clock, I'm gonna start dinner. You guys okay with fried tilapia?" "Yeah." the Doctor and Twilight said, simultaneously. "Okay, I'll start dinner." > Night with the Doctor > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sleeping accommodations were a bit difficult to figure out. After a long discussion, it was decided that Sunset would forfeit her bed to Twilight, and sleep on the couch, while the Doctor slept in the guest room. It was also interesting, as the Doctor had no pajamas. Sunset came out running into the living room, holding a pair of white dress pajamas, with blue and orange stripes on it, along with a dark blue robe. "Where'd you get these?" the Doctor asked. "Don't ask." Sunset replied. "Why-" "Just, don't." Sunset said, before walking over to the couch, holding a pillow and a blanket. Twilight had almost no issues getting to sleep, while the Doctor, on the other hand, had every issue. He kept having flashbacks every time he dosed off. In frustration, he got up, and pulled on his robe, walking into the living room. Sunset was lying on the couch, watching a movie. The Doctor walked over, and sat on the swiveling chair at her desk. "Whose pajamas are these?" Sunset's eyes looked down, and she said, "You really want to know?" "Yeah." "They're Flash Sentry's." Sunset explained, "he came over, a long time ago, and forgot his pajamas." "Why was he over?" The Doctor asked. Sunset slightly glanced at the Doctor. "Guess." The Doctor thought for a moment. "Ooooohhhhhhh." He exclaimed. "Yeah..." Sunset said, her head hanging down, "let's just say it's something I'd like to forget." "I can see why." the Doctor said. "But, that's not who you are anymore." "I know." Sunset said, only half-convinced. "Aren't you tired?" the Doctor asked. "Not really." Sunset said. "Looking forward to spending a day at home, with me and Twilight?" "Depends." "On what?" "What's happening." the Doctor explained, "I travel through time. I'm used to taking the quick way. I couldn't really tell you the last time I just stayed at home and did nothing." "I see." Sunset said, "Well, I'm sure you'll find something to do." "I suppose so." the Doctor replied. Sunset looked towards him. "Are you okay?" she asked, "You seem depressed." "I...um..." the Doctor struggled to find the correct thing to say. "I'm going to die. It's been set. I've been told, 'he will knock four times.' And, it means I'm dying." "But, don't you just regenerate?" Sunset asked. "I can still die." the Doctor explained, "If I'm killed before regeneration, then I'm dead. Even then, even if I change, it feels like dying. Everything I am dies. Some new man goes, sauntering away...And I'm dead." Sunset didn't say anything. She couldn't think of anything to say. "Anyway," the Doctor said, standing up, "I'm going to at least try and get some sleep. Good night, Sunset." And, he walked off, leaving Sunset alone in the dark. > The Item > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was raining. The streets of Canterlot were virtually desolate, minus about a dozen people, who were doing their daily activities. Shopping, visiting, and other things. Davenport was standing outside Quills and Sofas store, with his umbrella blocking the rain from hitting him. He was waiting for a client, who was walking up to him at that very moment. "Do you have it?" the Doctor asked, walking up toward Davenport. His trench coat was buttoned up, protecting his suit from the rain, though you could see the very top of his brown suit, tie, and dress shirt. "I do," Davenport replied, tugging at his bag, "but, why did you want it?" "I believe it has historic value." the Doctor replied. "Well, if that's the case, you're not far off." Davenport replied, and entered his shop, flipping the sign to closed. As Davenport headed behind the counter, the Doctor unbuttoned his coat, and brushed his soaking-wet hair back. "Ah, here it is!" Davenport said, standing back up. He was holding an old wooden box, about two inches tall, and ten inches wide, with an emblem lightly engraved in the cover. "Is this what you requested?" Davenport asked. "Yes, it is." the Doctor replied, "Well, go on, open it." Davenport gulped, and slowly opened the box. The Doctor reached into his pocket, and pulled on his glasses, examining the item. "What is it?" Davenport cocked his head to the side. "I thought you'd know?" "Just answer the question." the Doctor said, glancing at Davenport. "Well, it's old, easily five centuries." Davenport explained, "And, according to the myths, it is a relic from another universe." "Really?" the Doctor asked. "According to the myths." Davenport reiterated, "From what is said in some old scripture, it made it's first appearance back in the fifteenth century, in the hands of a famed magician, called Star-Swirl the Bearded. He would often use it in magic tricks, opening portals to what he called another universe. He would pull thing out of it, such as plants, and things. "Shortly before the occasion of his death, he passed it on to his apprentice, Clover the Clever." "How did he die?" the Doctor asked. "It was never stated," Davenport said, "However, Clover stated in a journal she kept that Star Swirl used it for something else. That he tried to duplicate it, and once succeeded, and opened a portal, sending the duplicate into another universe. "Clover kept the item, placing it in this box, and stored it away, stating it was too dangerous to be used. Thus, the item disappeared in the myths of legend. That was, until, about seven months ago. A woman named Twilight Velvet walked in here, carrying the item. She said she found it in her attic, and believed it could be worth a price. She sold it to me, and then, not long after, I got a call from you, saying that I had recently acquired an item that you wanted to see." "Why does it look like that?" the Doctor asked. "According to Clover's journal, it changed shape depending on the era it fit in. But, each time, it was a small, circular item that could open and close, such as a locket, or a pocket-watch." Davenport said. "I wonder..." the Doctor reached toward the item. "I wouldn't do that, if I were you." Davenport warned. "Why not?" the Doctor asked. "You won't like what you see." Davenport said. Nevertheless, the Doctor opened the item, and then, beside him, a portal opened. Wind blew out of it, powerful enough to knock the Doctor backwards, landing on his back. There was nothing inside the portal. Just nothing. Davenport was absolutely still, as if the wind was non existent. "Help..." A voice came out of the portal. A girl's voice "Help me, Doctor..." The Doctor's eyes widened. He recognized that voice. "He will knock four times, Doctor..." Davenport now looked straight at the Doctor, his eyes shining a deep crimson, rather than their usual green. "It is returning, Doctor." "How do you know my name?!" The Doctor shouted. Davenport spoke again, his voice seeming layered with the voice from the portal, "The universe is cracked. The Pandorica will open. Silence will Fall." And, before the Doctor could ask more, he woke up from his slumber. "And, what would you like to drink?" Celestia asked, turning toward Sunset who was gazing over the menu. Sunset looked up. "I'm sorry, what?" "What would you like to drink?" Celestia reiterated. Sunset glanced at the waitress, who was slightly smiling, and holding a note pad with a pen. "Oh, um, just lemonade please." Sunset said, and looked back toward the menu. The Principal sitting across from her smiled, and said, "So, is there a reason you wanted to have lunch with me?" "Um...not really." Sunset said, all too quickly. Celestia smiled. "Sunset, since your reformation, you've become a terrible liar." Sunset pursed her lips. "Well, you see, I believe something is happening at Canterlot High." "Like what?" Celestia asked, now intrigued. "Well, it all started with the Fall Formal." Sunset explained, "When Equestrian magic first showed up, I was the original bearer, turning into a raging she-demon, though, fortunately, Princess Twilight and the others were able to stop me, from the crown I was wearing and stopped me. However, if they hadn't been there, there would've been a huge mess at Canterlot High, one that would've cost people's lives. "Now, the crown was taken back to Equestria, but, some magic was left here, or, at least, that's Princess Twilight's theory. This magic has myself, and my friends to grow ears and tails, and in some cases wings, when we play music, but, not other things. However, I have my own theory. "I think it's possible that there's other magic in this world. Or, rather, another magical artifact. It's possible that there's another magical artifact supplying magic to us. I think that the Rainbooms can use this magic because we were exposed to Equestrian Magic during the Fall Formal." "So, you think there's another magical artifact at Canterlot High?" Celestia asked. "Well, maybe not at Canterlot High, but, maybe in the surrounding area, such as Crystal Prep, or Cloudsdale University." Sunset said. "So, what does that mean?" Celestia asked. "Well, I've looked at a map, and I've noticed something." Sunset explained, "Canterlot is surrounded by different towns and cities, which have similar names, and appearance to their Equestrian counterparts. And, it's in a circular pattern. And, once I noticed the circular design, I was able to connect the cities, and I noticed something." Sunset pulled out her phone, and pulled up an image. It was a map, with a circle and a star pattern drawn over it. "A pentagram. More importantly, the top of the star is pointing down." "What's your point?" Celestia asked. "In this world, it's the symbol of Satan, but, it Equestria, it's the symbol of Tartarus." Sunset explained, "You can find it on the gates of Tartarus, and, I'm pretty sure it's on Cerberus somewhere." "Where are you going with this?" "I believe that Canterlot is on the precipice of a magical disaster." Sunset explained. "If I'm right, a portal or something will open to Tartarus, and, I think it could bring the downfall of this world." Suddenly, the window next to the cracked. The crack seemed to be glowing, and Sunset heard a voice out of it. "Sunset..." the voice said, which Sunset recognized, "Help me..." "Who are you?!" Sunset asked, raising her voice. "The universe is cracked. The Pandorica will open. Silence will Fall." And, as the crack widened, Sunset woke up. Twilight couldn't see anything. Whether it was the fact that her glasses were gone, or that it was completely dark was up to dispute. She didn't even know why it was dark, but, all she knew is that everything was dark. She couldn't feel the ground, or even anything around her. Suddenly, she heard a voice around her. "You've met a terrible fate, haven't you?" It was a high-pitched man's voice. Twilight couldn't see him, but, she could definitely hear him. "Who's there?" "Oh, no one important, just a salesman who is stuck here, same as you." The man replied. "Where is here?" Twilight asked. "This place?" the man asked. "Oh, it goes by many names, but, the most common name is Hell. You might've heard it called the Void as well, but, that's unlikely." "How did I get here?" Twilight asked. "Now, don't you remember?" the man asked. "No." Twilight asked. "Why, you were kicked into here, quite literally." the man replied. "But, it's your own fault." "How?" "You really don't remember, do you?" the man asked. "No, I don't." Twilight replied. "However, judging by your knowledge of where we are, I don't think you are who you say you are. So, I ask again, who are you?" The man chuckled. "I am the Guardian of the Void. I patrol this place, and control what happens. I can choose if you live here for the rest of eternity, or, if you will simply disintegrate in here, and you cease to exist. However, sometimes things will break here, and someone may be sent back to reality." Suddenly, there was a something next to Twilight. A glowing crack, causing her to be able to slightly see the man. He was rubbing his hands together, and grinning. "Well, it seems the universe is giving you a second chance at life." And, suddenly, Twilight woke up. > Did you sleep well? > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Doctor sat up quickly, kicking the bed sheets off. His face was drench with sweat, and his hair was flopped over, and sopping wet. He kicked his legs over the side of the bed, and glanced at the clock. 7:36. The Doctor was breathing heavily, and hopped off the bed, pulling on his robe. He walked into the kitchen, and opened the fridge, pulling out a carton of eggs. He skipped into the living room, and saw Sunset sleeping soundly on the couch, smiling as she slept. The Doctor walked back into the kitchen, and washed his hands, and pulled out a few pans, and turned on the stove. Sunset woke up, breathing heavily. The Doctor rushed over to her, who was still wearing his pajamas and robe. "Are you okay? Sunset!" Sunset looked at him, sweat on her brow. "I'm fine." She stuttered. "I just...had a nightmare." The Doctor stood up. "You too?" He walked over into the kitchen, "What was yours about?" Sunset stood up, and followed the Doctor into the kitchen. "It's...difficult to explain. I was having lunch to Principal Celestia about a magical catastrophe, or something. I don't exactly remember." "I was at a shop." the Doctor explained, who was stirring some batter in a large mixing bowl, "I was there to see an item, and there was something, and a portal, and...I don't exactly remember." "Is it possible that there was something connecting our nightmares?" Sunset asked. "I doubt it." the Doctor said, "It takes a very special kind of soporific to connect dreams. I'll finish cooking breakfast; you get a shower." Sunset sat down at the table, wearing her usual attire. She pulled out her phone, and began texting Rainbow Dash. "You know, your friend Flash has a nice dressing gown." The Doctor said in the kitchen, pulling a rack of muffins out of the oven. "Dressing gown?" Sunset asked, looking up from her phone, "Don't you mean robe?" "Oh, the linguistic differences between us, it's completely normal." the Doctor replied, setting different foods onto plates. "So, what's your plan for today?" Sunset asked, as the Doctor set a plate of food in front of her. Scrambled eggs, a blueberry muffin, already buttered, fried bacon, and hash browns. "Oh, I'll find something to do." the Doctor said, placing a plate with the same things on it into the microwave. "In the meantime, I'm gonna get a shower." And, the Doctor walked off, leaving Sunset to eat her food in silence. Roughly half an hour later, the Doctor emerged into the dining room wearing a blue pinstripe suit, a wine-colored dress shirt with matching tie. His hair was freshly applied with product, and he had freshly shaved. "Wait, where'd you get the suit?" Sunset asked, "Yesterday you were wearing a brown suit." "Oh, you'd amazed at the things you can fit into your pockets." The Doctor explained, and placed more food onto a new plate, which he brought out into the dining room, and began eating. "The plow hasn't clear the road yet." Sunset said, "And, we easily got two feet of snow. It might be a while before we go anywhere." "Lovely." The Doctor replied, staring down at his food. Sunset cocked her head to the side. "What?" "Nothing." The Doctor said, continuing to eat. "Come on, what?" Sunset asked, a look on concern on her face. "It's just... the dream I had last night." The Doctor said, "It's becoming less vague." "Yours and mine both." Sunset said. "You tell me yours, and I'll tell you mine." The Doctor said, taking a bite of pancakes. Suddenly, there was a scream from another room. The Doctor and Sunset exchanged a quick glance, before standing up, and running toward Sunset's bedroom, where Twilight was sleeping. The Doctor approached the door, and pushed against it, but, it didn't budge. He quickly pulled out his sonic screwdriver, and unlocked the door, and barged in. Twilight was still sleeping, but, she was rolling around, and her face was scrunched up, and in fear. The Doctor ran over to her, and began yelling her name. "Twilight! Twilight! Wake up!" The Doctor shook her shoulder, and she sat up quickly with a scream. She was panting and breathing heavily. "Twilight!" The Doctor shouted, catching her attention. She turned to face him, her eyes wild, her face depressed. "Are you alright?" The Doctor asked. Twilight leaned over and wrapped her arms around him, crying into his shoulder. "It alright. It's over. It was just a nightmare." The Doctor comforted her, hugging her tightly. "Listen, we have breakfast ready. Are you hungry?" Twilight backed up away from the Doctor, and nodded, rubbing her eyes. The Doctor smiled, and helped her up. She reached over, and grabbed her glasses, putting them on her face. The Doctor helped her into the dining room, and sat her down, before heading off into the kitchen to get her some food. Sunset sat on the end of the table, staring at Twilight with a look of concern. "Are you okay?" Sunset asked. Twilight shook her head. "Is something wrong?" Sunset asked. Twilight nodded. "Could you tell me?" In the kitchen, the Doctor was quietly scanning Twilight using his sonic screwdriver. Twilight remained quiet. "Please Twilight, I want to help you." Sunset said, placing her hand on Twilight's. Twilight gulped. "It was..." she stuttered, "It was...it was-" "A nightmare." the Doctor said, walking into the dining room with Twilight's food, placing it in front of her. "If you don't mind me asking, what was it about?" Twilight looked at her plate. "I..um...I don't exactly remember." "Then, we have a problem." The Doctor said. "What?" Sunset asked. "Think about it, all of us had a nightmare, and none of us remember it." The Doctor said. "And, each of us said, exactly, 'I don't exactly remember.'" "Hm..." Sunset mumbled. "So, it's possible that something was connecting out dreams, but, it's also possible that it was just a huge coincidence." The Doctor said. "Let's hope it was the ladder." Sunset said, before taking a sip of tea. > Nightmares and Dreamscapes > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whilst Twilight was getting her shower, the Doctor and Sunset talked about their nightmares. "A mysterious item, pentagrams, Tartarus, prophecies, all we're missing is a few crop circles." The Doctor joked. "But, I heard two prophecies, you only heard one." "That's right." Sunset agreed. "The universe is cracked, the Pandorica will open, silence will fall." "I heard the same one, but, I also heard another." the Doctor said, "He will knock four times. That prophecy is the one about my death, I know that much, but, I am not sure about the other one." "So, let's do what you do best." Sunset said. "What would that be?" The Doctor asked. "Figuring things out." Sunset explained. "Alright then!" The Doctor shouted, jumping up, and waltzing into the living room, and plopping down onto the couch, Sunset next to him. "Let's star with the first verse, 'the universe is cracked.' I can only guess that that's referring to a possible crack in time and space. I've heard about them, but, never seen them. "Verse two, 'the Pandorica will open.' Now, that doesn't make any sense. The Pandorica is just a fairy tale, said to contain the worst being in all the cosmos." "Who was that?" Sunset asked. "I don't know." The Doctor said, "One of the Pantheon of Discord-" "Discord?" Sunset asked, immediately recognizing the name. "Long story, I'll tell you some other day." The Doctor explained, "But, the final line, 'silence will fall,' is possibly the most difficult to decipher." "Why?" Sunset asked. "Silence could mean anything." the Doctor explained, "It could mean the silence of the universe, most probably meaning it's destruction, or, it could even be the silence of one particular person. The question is: Who?" "I guess we'll find out in time." Sunset said. "Probably." the Doctor agreed, "Still though, all three of us have a nightmare, on the same night, and, you and me having the same prophecy spoken in our dreams, it's almost impossible." "Not impossible, just a bit unlikely." Sunset said, smirking. The Doctor smiled, as he had used that line before, "But, what was Twilight's dream? We'll have to ask her. She was more shaken up than either of us, meaning it could of been more terrifying. It could've been a connected dream, or a brand new dream altogether." "Well, it looks like we're about to find out." Sunset said, as Twilight walked into the room. "What are you two talking about?" Twilight asked, now seeming cheerful, as if the previous hour hadn't happened at all. "Twilight," the Doctor began, "do you remember anything about your dream? Anything at all?" "No." Twilight said, sitting down own the couch. "I don't remember a thing. Well, I remember that it was really dark, and, I was having a conversation with someone, but, that's where it ended. I don't remember why I was so scared. "Hm...I wonder..." the Doctor said. "Wonder what?" Sunset asked. "I wonder if these dreams are more than just normal dreams," the Doctor explained, "They could be prophetic dreams." "Prophetic dreams?" Twilight asked. "They're dreams that predict the future." Sunset explained. "How did you know that?" the Doctor asked. "Princess Celestia sometimes has them." Sunset explained. "Oh. Too bad..." "What?" Sunset asked. "It's just," the Doctor said, "I was really looking forward to explaining what prophetic dreams were. Although, there is a bit more to it than that." "Then, it gives who room to explain." Sunset said, smiling. The Doctor smiled. "No one has ever proven prophetic dreams actually happen. Granted, there's been displays throughout history of prophetic dreams, such as in the Christian bible. Prophets would have dreams about things happening. Christians believed that God would talk to them in their dreams, and give them messages to the people. Hence the term, prophetic dream." "But, prophetic dreams don't necessarily have to major, like what some people believe." Sunset said, wagging a finger. "Very true." The Doctor said. "Have any of you ever had a dream, and then, something happens in the waking world, and you swore it's happened before, but it hasn't. However, you experienced the same event in a dream. Thus, you experience Déjà vu. Reason being: While in a dream, a small psychic field grows in your brain, allowing you see into the future. It doesn't happen all the time, but, it has happened. "Granted, this can lead to some problems. Some people get cocky with this ability, and begin to believe that everything that happens in dreams also happens in reality, causing their brains to be scrambled. They then have hallucinations in their dreams, and believe them to be reality. It can cause severe brain damage. Split-personalities, social disorders, you name it." "So, what is it in our case?" Twilight asked. "It could be anything." The Doctor said. "It depends on what the future holds." > The Day with the Doctor > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Come on!" the Doctor shouted, continuing to press buttons on his controller, "How am I losing, I shouldn't be loosing." "You wanted to play Mario Kart without ever playing the game before," Twilight boasted, "It's not your fault you're loosing. Well, actually it is your fault, but let's ignore that." "A blue shell?" the Doctor exclaimed, "How did I get hit by a blue shell, I'm not even in the lead!" "Ha!" Twilight laughed. While Twilight focused on the gameplay, the Doctor slowly reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out his sonic screwdriver. He quietly altered the game's coding as Twilight was immediately sent to last place, as the Doctor was the sent to first. "What the? What...?" Twilight stuttered. "Well, that was an interesting glitch." The Doctor said, crossing the finish line. He turned to Twilight. "How about a rematch?" "Just put the cake in the oven, and go." the Doctor said. "But, uh... these ingredients..." Sunset stuttered. "Just put it in the oven." the Doctor ordered. "If you say so..." Sunset mumbled, placing the cake into the oven. Later... "Oh, this is horrible!" Twilight exclaimed, spitting out a bite of cake. "But..." the Doctor mumbled, "I could swore I used the right ingredients." the Doctor pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket. Sunset grabbed the paper from the Doctor, and turned it over, before giving it back. "You were reading it upside down." "Oh..." The Doctor shoved the shovel down into the snow, before pulling it back up, and throwing the snow aside. "How much longer will we be out here?" Twilight asked. It had stopped snowing at about 3:00, and they need to clear the driveway. "It depends." the Doctor said. "Depends on what?" Twilight asked. "On this!" a voice shouted, as Sunset Shimmer plowed into the driveway pushing an active snow blower. She pushed it further down the driveway, finishing cleaning it quickly. She looked around, as it seemed the Doctor and Twilight had disappeared.. "Doctor? Twilight?" She turned to see two figures completely covered in snow. "Oh... my bad." "Well, school tomorrow." Sunset said. The three were sitting in the primary living room, eating popcorn and watching a film on the television. "So much for time off. Although, they couldn't push the board to have school on Christmas Day, could they?" "Never trust a school board, they don't really care about their students." the Doctor said. "What is this film even about?" "I don't know, but they certainly got alien life wrong." Sunset replied. "Star Wars did a better job than this, and frankly that's not saying much. Though, I'm still trying to get tickets to see episode seven." "Trust me, there's a massive plot twist no one sees coming." the Doctor said, smirking slightly. "Don't spoil it!" Sunset scoffed, standing to take her popcorn to the kitchen. "Even still, it will be nice to see." Twilight said. "I actually saw them in chronological order. In theaters every time." the Doctor bragged, "I'll tell you, it was a big step from episode three to four. Let alone sixteen to seventeen." "There'll be seventeen Star Wars films?" Twilight asked, curiously. "Actually, there will be... um..." the Doctor thought for a moment, "about three-hundred and seventy-six." Twilight's mouth hung open so low that it would give Pinkie Pie have a run for her money. "And on that bombshell, we should get some shut eye. See you all in the morning. > The Crack in the Wall > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunset and Twilight entered the home; the Doctor was working on repairing something. "What are you working on?" Twilight asked, slinging her backpack off. "Timey-Whimey detector," the Doctor said, "I thought I could get it working, but it's not." "Well, at least you're not the janitors at school." Sunset said, entering the main living room. "Why?" the Doctor asked. "There's a strange crack in the wall that they can't seem to fix." Sunset said. "A crack in the wall?" the Doctor asked, stroking his chin. "Yeah, and I think it's glowing." Twilight said, "but, the others called me crazy." The Doctor pondered this. "I'd like to see it." "Why?" Sunset asked. "A crack in the wall that janitor's can't fix, and it's glowing?" the Doctor said, "Why wouldn't I want to see it?" "Well, school's closed for today, though we can show you tomorrow." Twilight said. "Alright then." The eight people headed down the hallway through CHS, to where Sunset had said the crack was. When they arrived, the Doctor reflexively pulled out his sonic screwdriver and immediately scanned it. "Oh, that's interesting." "What is?" Twilight asked. "If you were to knock down the wall, the crack would stay there, because the crack, isn't in the wall." The Doctor explained. "What?" Rainbow Dash asked, "How can it not be in the wall?" "It's a crack in time and space." the Doctor said. "Meanin'...?" Applejack asked. "Meaning," the Doctor continued, "this crack can be three things: One: It's a portal to another area in time and space. B, no, two: It's a hole in the fabric of reality. You step through this, and you will fall into the void, and to the rest of the universe, it will be like you never existed. And, three, or a possible C: this is the most likely option, it's a combination of both. Should you enter the crack, and you may either head to the other side of the portal, or you fall into the void." "How do we get rid of it?" Twilight asked. "I'm not sure." the Doctor said, "I've never seen anything like this before, I'm not sure how to fix it. I need to scan my readings in the TARDIS." The Doctor had parked the TARDIS outside of Canterlot High, and was running a scan when Sunset walked in. "Doctor?" "Hello Sunset, how are you?" the Doctor asked, smiling as she walked in. "I've been better, I've been worse." Sunset said. "Doctor, are you staying for Christmas?" "Oh, you know, may or may not, that sort of a thing." the Doctor said. "Well, it's just..." Sunset stuttered, "This is my first Christmas with friends." The Doctor looked away from the screen and looked at the fire-haired girl. "I've been in this world for roughly four years now, and Christmas has been there, but it's never felt like Christmas, not really. This year, I have friends to celebrate it with. Princess Twilight will be busy celebrating Hearth's Warming in Equestria, so I would like all my friends to be there. So, I'd appreciate it if you were there." The Doctor smiled, just before the TARDIS beeped. "Oh, scan complete." The Doctor pressed buttons on the console. "Let's see... Oh, I need to send something into there, and bring it back before it's too late." "Like a person?" Sunset asked. "No, more like a camera, connected to the TARDIS, preferably with a wire, so we can pull it back if it looses energy." the Doctor said, "Come on." The TARDIS was now parked inside the school, with the crack a few meters away. He had a remote control helicopter with a camera attached to it, and a wire leading to it. "Now, can anyone fly a remote-control helicopter?" He asked, holding a controller up. "You don't know?" Twilight asked. "No, sorry, I was a bit busy with saving the world for the thousandth time." the Doctor said. "And yet you had time to buy a RC copter?" Sunset asked. "Just answer the question." the Doctor said. "I can." Twilight said. "Okay Twilight, you take this." the Doctor handed her the controller, and set up a computer monitor. "Alright, I'll be controlling the camera with this controller," he held up another controller, "And Sunset, you keep an eye on the monitor." "Got it." Sunset replied. "What do the rest of us do?" Rainbow Dash asked, who was standing in a corner with the other four. "Um..." the Doctor licked his lips, "Isn't there a Christmas Ball or something tomorrow night?" "Yes." Rainbow replied. "Then, get that set up." the Doctor said. "OKAY!!!" Pinkie Pie shouted, before running off at lightning speed. "Come on girls, we'd better make sure she doesn't rip up the gym." Applejack said, waving for the others to follow her. "Okay..." the Doctor said, "Twilight, activate the helicopter." Twilight pressed a button on the controller, and the copter buzzed to life, the blades beginning to spin. "Activating camera, and sending feed. Sunset, you receiving it?" "I'm getting a wonderful image of the floor." Sunset said. "Right then, Twilight pilot the copter into the crack." the Doctor said. "Uh... what if it doesn't go in?" Twilight asked. "Then they'll be one less RC copter in the world." the Doctor said, and gestured toward the crack. Hesitantly, Twilight maneuvered the copter toward the crack, and it zipper right through, with no issue at all. "Okay Twilight, keep the copter still. Sunset, you getting a feed?" "It's a tad fuzzy, but I can see it fine." Sunset said, "It looks like a desert of sorts. There looks to be something to the left. Doctor, turn the camera slightly to the left." The Doctor obliged. "Little more, little more, stop. It looks to be some kind of hive, though it's huge. Hold on, something's emerging. It's black, looks kinda like a pony, it has wings, though they look more like an insects...oh no." "What is it?" the Doctor asked. "Pull it out! Quick!" Sunset shouted, seizing the controls from Twilight, and quickly putting the copter in reverse. "What are you doing?!" Twilight screamed, as the Doctor whipped open to the monitor. The creature was flying right toward the copter. The copter emerged from the crack with ease, and the creature emerged from it too, banging into the wall, before circling back around, and flying toward the entrance. "Don't let it escape!" the Doctor shouted before running after it, Sunset and Twilight following. But, they were too slow, and the creature excited the doors, and flew into the cold winter air until it was out of site. "What was that?" Twilight asked. "A Changeling." the Doctor replied. "You've seen them too?" Sunset asked. "Oh, yes." the Doctor said. "And we just let one loose on the outside world. There's no telling the damage it could do. Come on, we need to close that crack before any more come through." The three treaded back to the crack, and the Doctor pulled his sonic screwdriver from his pocket. "Judging from the data I collected, I should be able to close it back by opening it all the way, and it will snap shut. Or..." "Or what?" Twilight asked. "We'll worry about or when it comes, alright?" The Doctor raised his sonic, and pushed down the button. The buzzing of the screwdriver filled the hallway, and the crack slowly opened entirely, revealing a good view of the hive. "What do we do now?" Twilight asked. "We wait for it to close." the Doctor said. A few uneventful minutes past, and the crack closed with no issue. "There see? Told you." "So, what was the or?" Twilight asked. "Oh, nothing." the Doctor said. "We should be fine. Right now, we have a Christmas party to prepare for tomorrow, am I right?" "Shouldn't we be worrying about the loose Changeling?" Sunset asked. "Oh, it should be fine for a couple of days, right?" the Doctor said, and started walking off to the gym. Twilight followed quietly, and Sunset close behind her. "Oh, I have a bad feeling about this." > Christmas Ball > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Doctor had his trench coat buttoned up as he walked up to Canterlot High. The snow crunched under his feet with every step. He wasn't sure he should be at the party, but, it was Christmas Eve. And, that's what worried him the most. There was a guard at the entrance, checking students IDs. The Doctor walked up, and said, "Hello, who are you?" "I'm the guard, that's all you need to know." The guard replied. "Oh, the guard, well, I'm the Doctor." The Doctor said, "What do you know, we both go by a title, rather than a name." The guard frowned. "Are you on the list?" "No, I got invited late." The Doctor lied, "An invitation from a friend, just got it." "Show me." The guard said. "Right, here you go," the Doctor said, pulling out his psychic paper, and handing it the guard. The guard examined the psychic paper, and smirked, handing it back to the Doctor. "Nice try. This paper is blank." The Doctor's eyes widened in shock. "Blimey, takes a whopper lacking of an imagination to beat psychic paper." "What was that?" The guard asked. "Nothing, I must've left the invitation in my other suit." The Doctor mumbled. "Then I'm not letting you in." The guard said, crossing his arms. "Oh, you would wouldn't you?" The Doctor asked. "Look, if you just get Principal Celestia, I'm sure she-" "Doctor!" A voice behind the guard said. He swerved around to see Sunset Shimmer, walking toward him. "It's okay Joe, he's with me." Sunset said. The Doctor smiled with triumph, and entered the school, joining Sunset. "Thanks for that." The Doctor said, proceeding down the main hallway, towards the gym. "Don't mention it." Sunset replied. She was wearing a purple dress, which went down to about her knees. It was printed with a sun on the bottom, and on the shoulders. She was actually quite beautiful. Upon reaching the gym, another guard approached the Doctor, and asked, "May I take your coat sir?" The Doctor smiled, and pulled off his trench coat, revealing his black tuxedo, with matching bowtie. "Here you go mate. Don't lose that." The Doctor entered the gym, chatting with Sunset Shimmer. "I'm a bit worried about how this will end." "What do you mean?" Sunset asked. "Well, it's just the last time I was at a Christmas party, I had to save the world from a falling starship Titanic." The Doctor said, walking over to the punch table. "Falling starship Titanic?" Sunset repeated. "Yeah, long story." The Doctor said. "Not to mention how unlucky this suit is." "Unlucky?" "First time I got this suit, there was a Cybermen invasion," the Doctor explained, pouring a glass of punch for himself, "second time, I had to deal with a man who was turning into a giant scorpion monster, and last time it was the falling Titanic." "That is unlucky." Sunset said, nodding. "But, with a Changeling problem, I suppose we're already unlucky." "Good point." The Doctor said, taking a swig of the punch. He immediately recoiled, as his face scrunched up, "Oh, that's disgusting. Who made this?" "I did." Twilight said, approaching the Doctor and Sunset. "What flavor is it?" The Doctor asked. "Punch flavor." Twilight said. The Doctor raised an eyebrow. “Okay, its pear flavored.” "Oh, that'll do it." The Doctor said, setting the cup down. "I hate pears. I'm gonna have a look around, okay?" Sunset nodded, and the Doctor walked off. Twilight walked over to Flash Sentry, and started up a conversation with him. The Doctor walked towards a student with blue skin, and black hair, who wore a black velvet suit jacket, over a red waistcoat, and blue dress shirt, with a red bowtie on it. He also wore a tan Stetson. “Hello, I’m the Doctor, who are you?” the Doctor asked the student, extending a hand. The student took the hand and shook it. “I’m Galaxy Nebula. Nice to meet you.” “You too, Galaxy.” The Doctor withdrew his hand. “Um…why are you wearing a Stetson?” “Stetsons are cool.” Galaxy replied. “At a Christmas party?” Even Applejack wasn’t wearing her usual headwear. “It was either this or a fez.” “Wouldn’t a Santa Claus hat be more fitting?” “I don’t look good in those.” “Right…” the Doctor noticed that he was looking at Flash and Twilight. “Why are you staring at them?” “Oh,” Galaxy stuttered, “it’s just that, several students and I ship them together. Crystal even had a fanfic idea once.” The Doctor raised an eyebrow. “Ship them?” “Yeah, you know, shipping.” Galaxy said, which didn’t help the confused Doctor. “When you think that two people should be together, you ship them.” “Together, as in…” “Yep.” The Doctor eyed him oddly, and slowly stepped away. The Doctor decided to step over to a student with curly brown hair. He seemed to be nervous. "Hello, I'm the Doctor." The Doctor said, shaking his hand. "I'm...um...I'm Hoofenmouth." Hoof stuttered. "Nice to meet you." The Doctor said, crossing his arms. He noticed Hoof seemed to be staring at something. The Doctor followed his gaze, and noticed he was staring directly at Sunset Shimmer. "Um... why are you staring at Sunset?" "No reason!" Hoof shouted quickly, recoiling at looking at the Doctor, eyes wide. "Um..." "Doctor, who are you talking to?" Sunset said, walking over to the Doctor and Hoof. She looked at Hoof, who was now staring at her, wide eyed, and shaky. "I remember you! I saw you just before the Battle of the Bands! It was...Hoofenmouth, wasn't it?" Hoof stood there, shaking even more, before shouting, "I NEED TO USE THE BATHROOM!!!" Hoof ran off, toward the men's bathroom. The Doctor and Sunset stared at him as he ran off. "What's wrong with him?" the Doctor asked. "I don't know." Sunset replied. The Doctor then noticed someone in the corner. He was wearing a blue suit, white shirt, and a red tie, all practically covered by a tan trench coat. And, his facial features, hair, and even sideburns, all looked very similar to the Doctor. The only difference is that this man looked slightly older. He had more wrinkles in his face, and his hair was peppered with grey hair. The Doctor looked toward Sunset, and asked, pointed toward the man, “Who’s he?” “Oh, that’s Mister Turner.” Sunset explained. “He’s a science teacher. I have him as my last class of the day.” “He looks like me.” The Doctor said. “Kinda.” Sunset explained. “He looks older though, and has a few problems. Particularly with his past. It’s a long, and rather depressing story.” “Past issues,” the Doctor mumbled, “I know how that feels.” “He was one of the few people who believed I had changed shortly after the Fall Formal.” Sunset explained. “Him and Rainbow Dash. But, I wasn’t the only one with problems.” “Did he tell you his story?” the Doctor asked. “No, I um…overheard him, one day, telling it to someone.” Sunset explained. “Right.” The Doctor said. “How come you never mentioned him before?” “Did I have to?” Sunset asked. “You two may look similar, but, your mannerisms are actually quite different. Plus, I think you’re braver.” “Really?” The Doctor asked. “Nice.” “He also sound different.” Sunset said. “Still British, but the accent is a bit different.” “Okay.” The Doctor said. “I think I’ll have a chat with him.” And, he headed toward the corner where Turner was standing. “No!” Sunset exclaimed, causing the Doctor to whirl back around. “What?” “You can’t talk to him.” “Why not?” “Wouldn’t it be a bit…shocking?” Sunset asked. “Not for you, but for him. I mean, you’ve met different versions of yourself before, but he hasn’t. It be like looking in a mirror.” “Don’t worry, he’ll be fine.” The Doctor said, and walked toward Turner. He approached him slowly, and, when he was right behind him, he said, “Hello.” Turner jumped, and exclaimed, “Great whickering stallions! Don’t you know better than to sneak up on people like-“he turned to face the Doctor, and stopped at the sight of him. “That.” “You know,” the Doctor began, “there’s an age-old belief with a strange appeal that somewhere on this planet, alive today, is someone who looks exactly like you.” “Yes, but,” Turner replied, “maybe not precisely. Someone close enough to be your double, or in essence, your doppelganger.” “It can be fascinating to imagine.” The Doctor said. “Yes, but, it’s a bit impossible.” Turner replied. “But, not completely.” The Doctor replied. “Very well, improbable then.” Turner gave in. “And, 'Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.'” The Doctor said. “Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a Study in Scarlett, eighteen-eighty-seven.” Turner replied. “You know your history.” “As do you.” Turner replied, and stuck out his hand, “I’m Time Turner, science teacher.” “Hello, Time Turner, I’m the Doctor.” The Doctor. “Name please, not position.” Turner replied. “I just told you, the Doctor.” “You name, sir, not your career.” “Oh, um… Smith, John Smith.” The Doctor replied, “But, most people just call me the Doctor. I don’t know why. I call me the Doctor too; still don’t know why.” “Okay.” Turner replied, and asked. “What are you a doctor of?” “Oh, a bit of everything.” “Medicine?” “Depends on the situation.” “Science?” “Quite often.” “History?” “Very often.” “Teacher?” “I dabble.” “Doctor!” a voice called. The Doctor turned to see Twilight waving at him. “Oh, sorry, gotta go.” The Doctor extended his hand. “Nice to meet you Mister Turner.” Turner took his hand, and shook it. “You as well, Doctor Smith.” The Doctor turned, and headed toward Twilight, who was standing by Flash. “Hello, Twilight.” “Doctor, you remember Flash, don’t you?” “Vaguely.” The Doctor said, and shook Flash’s hand. ` “Hello, Doctor.” Flash said. “I think we got off on the wrong foot.” “No, it was the right foot.” The Doctor said. “I distinctively remember you stepped on my right foot.” Twilight chuckled at that, and Flash said, “Yeah, sorry about that.” “It’s fine, but, if you really want to talk to someone, maybe you shouldn’t bump into them.” The Doctor explained, “Its better if you just start up a conversation, like asking what they had to eat for breakfast.” “Um…” “And, last I heard, you were dating Princess Twilight.” This caused Twilight to perk up. “What!?” She shouted, looking angrily at Flash. “Yeah, I remember Princess Twilight telling me, when the world was ending, I believe.” “What!?” Twilight shouted again, causing Flash’s face to flush. “You told me you two never had something going on!” A few meters away, Sunset noticed the commotion, and walked toward the Doctor. She took the Doctor by the arm, and led him away from the Twilight and Flash. “What?” The Doctor asked. “You’re causing a tizzy.” Sunset replied. “A what?” The Doctor asked. “A commotion.” Sunset said, and led the Doctor to about the center of the gym. “Dance with me.” “What?” The Doctor asked. “You need to blend in with the crowd.” Sunset explained, “Walking around, talking to various people, isn’t the way to do that. If you dance, with a partner, you’ll blend in better.” “Oh.” The Doctor said, and placed his right hand in Sunset’s, and his left on her waist, and began dancing. Despite how uncomfortable the Doctor looked, Sunset did the best she could to hide a cheeky grin as they danced. > The Crack Returns > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Okay, that's enough." Sunset said, breaking away from the Doctor. "Yeah..." the Doctor said, a bit to eagerly. "I'm going to get some punch." Sunset said, and walked over to the punch bowl. The Doctor headed over to where Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, and Twilight, who was still in a bad mood after the moment with Flash, was standing. "Nice moves." Rainbow Dash complimented, as the Doctor walked up. "Really?" the Doctor asked, "I thought it was a bit lackluster myself." "I was being nice." Rainbow said. "You an' Sunset seemed to be havin' fun." Applejack said. "Nah," the Doctor scoffed, "We were jut blending in with the crowd. Trying not to attract attention." "Well, you were attracting someone, that's for sure." Rainbow snickered. "What?" the Doctor asked. "Really darling, isn't it obvious?" Rarity asked. "Isn't what obvious?" the Doctor pressed further. "Come on, use that brain of yours, figure it out!" Rainbow said. Then it clicked. "What are you-" "Oh, I can't wait for Christmas tomorrow!" Pinkie Pie interrupted, and looked at the Doctor who mouthed 'thank you.' "After all, the presents, and the cupcakes, and the party!" "Pinkie Pie, isn't every party you have like that?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Well, no." Pinkie said, still cheerful. "Last June I had a party that was very monotone, with little to no cupcakes and presents at all!" Rainbow face palmed, and the Doctor walked off. This party wasn't all bad. Until, the Doctor heard a sound. It seemed to be coming from the stage. The Doctor ran up to the back of the stage, practically interrupting the band that was playing, which was lead by Flash Sentry. "Hey man, get off the stage!" Flash said. The Doctor pulled out his sonic screwdriver and scanned the area where the noise was coming from. "Let's see..." he plucked on his glasses and looked at the area it was coming from. "Portal, no... time fissure, no... then that means..." the Doctor got his answer, as a crack, with the same proportions and shape as the one before, faded into existence. "No..." the Doctor mumbled, and stepped back slowly, crashing into the band drummer. "Doctor, get off the stage!" Flash demanded. "Oh, shut up!" the Doctor commanded. Flash obliged. The Doctor returned his attention to the crack. Something seemed to be dripping out of it. A green slime seemed to be oozing from the crack in the wall. He touched it with his finger, and licked it, immediately spitting it out. "Three possible substances. Krillitane oil, Alborian fish juice, and-" A changeling head popped out of the crack, screaming at the Doctor. "Changeling mucus." He ran to the front of the stage, seized the microphone from Flash and began barking into it. "Everyone! Listen to me! We need to evacuate the school at once!" Not a single student moved. "Oh, why does nobody listen to me!" Then dozens of Changelings exploded from the crack, flying everywhere and shrieking. Then, the students ran out of the gym, screaming their heads off. "Oh, now they move!" A powerful wind was leaving the crack, and more Changelings emerged. "Come on!" the Doctor shouted to Flash and his band, as they ran off the stage. They ran through the gym, and Sunset, Twilight, and the other five joined them. "Sunset, is there a basement, or a storm shelter here?" "Yes, follow me!" Sunset took the lead of the group, and plowed down the dark hallways, a swarm of Changelings on their tail. "They're getting closer!" Rainbow shouted. "We're almost there!" Sunset shouted back, and ran up to a janitor's closet and kicked it open. She entered it, and found a door at the back, and opened it inward. In side was a small stair case that led downward, and she entered, motioning the others to follow. The Doctor went to the rear, and got everybody inside. "Alright, come on, everyone in!" He entered last, and used the sonic to lock both the janitor's door, and the shelter door. "That should hold them, at least for now." The Doctor walked down the small set of stairs and entered the room. "So, who do we got in here?" The Doctor took a small head count. "Right, okay. Only some of us are useful." "Some?" Flash asked. "Yeah, some." the Doctor said, "But not you." "What?" Flash stuttered. "Could you stop stuttering, I'm trying to think right now." the Doctor said, rubbing his temples. "So how many Changelings are there?" Rainbow Dash asked. "There could thousands of them." "Hundreds of thousands." the Doctor said. "One million seven hundred seventy-one thousand five hundred sixty one." Twilight said, catching everyone's attention. "I mean, at a guess." "Right," the Doctor said, "So, basically we need the TARDIS." "Which is where?" Sunset asked. "In the courtyard." the Doctor replied. "So, we just need to avoid a Changeling swarm and get to it." "Fun." Sunset said. "Come on Sunset, we can get it." The Doctor smiled, and walked over to the door, the fire-haired girl in tow. "Alright, hallway's clear." the Doctor said, exiting the closet. Sunset walked out behind him, and looked around. "So how did the Changelings get here?" "Another crack, this time on the stage," the Doctor explained, locking the closet with his screwdriver before placing it back into his suit pocket, "Must've led to the same point in time and space, or at least something similar." "Great." Sunset said, peering around the corner. "No Changelings in this hallway." She motioned the Doctor over and the two proceeded down the dark corridor. "Now let's hope they haven't discovered the TARDIS, or at least discovered what it is yet." The Doctor said. "Why?" Sunset. "It's the most powerful thing on this planet right now," the Doctor explained, "If they Changelings were to get their hands on it, who knows what damaged they'd cause." "So you've fought the Changelings before?" Sunset asked. "Yeah," the Doctor nodded, "They served the Trickster, one of the Pantheon of Discord." "Was Discord a person or just chaos?" Sunset asked. "Why do you ask?" the Doctor wondered. "Well, in Equestria there's a draconequus named Discord, who wreaked havoc on Equestria." Sunset explained. "Hm..." "What?" "Well, I though Discord might be a person, but there was no solid evidence, so I just thought it was meaning chaos, though with this in mind, Discord might have been a person, and fled to Gaea after the Pantheon fell." "Interesting..." "We're almost at the side door." the Doctor said, and started walking slower. He reached the door, and peered out of it, Sunset trying to as well. "There it is. Looks like the Changelings haven't got to it yet. Come on, if we're quick, we can get to it." The two slowly exited the building, and started to make their way to the TARDIS. They were still several yards from it when Sunset shouted, "Two Changelings, coming down!" The Changelings were in humanoid form, but were still disgusting. They flew down right to the TARDIS, and landed next to it. "Uh-oh." the Doctor mumbled, as the Changelings began to cover the TARDIS with their green slime. Then, the light on time of the TARDIS began to fade in and out, as the familiar groan began to sound, and the box itself began to fade in and out of existence, until it faded away completely and the sound stopped. "Oh no." "Doctor, they're coming for us!" Sunset said, turning around and sprinting toward the door. "Run!" the Doctor shouted, following Sunset. "I am running!" Sunset shouted back, and got up to the door, and pulled it. "It's locked." "Two words: Sonic Screwdr-" "This is no time for showing off!" Sunset growled. "I'm not showing off!" the Doctor argued. "Just open the door!" Sunset commanded, and the Doctor obeyed, and the two entered the school, locking the door behind them. "Why'd the TARDIS dematerialize?" "The HADS." "HADS, H-A-D-S," the Doctor explained, "Stand for Hostile Action Displacement System. If the TARDIS is in danger it immediately dematerializes, and rematerializes in a safer place. I didn't know I had it activated." "Well, we're without the TARDIS." Sunset said, starting to make her way to the closet. "And, things just got a lot tougher." The Doctor concluded. > Nowhere Left to Turn > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluttershy hadn't done much during this whole ordeal. She was quiet the entire time. She didn't have much to say, you see. She was more worried about her animals. The Doctor and Sunset returned, seeming oddly down. "Did you get the TARDIS?" Twilight asked as they walked in. "It's been towed." The Doctor replied, sitting down on some boxes in a corner. "What?" Twilight asked. "A security protocol," Sunset explained, "the TARDIS dematerialized and could be gone for a while." "Great..." Twilight groaned. "While you were out a couple of us took the opportunity and looked around the school." Rarity said. "They've got the entire school overrun, and they seem to have set up a base in the gym." Rainbow reported. "We've got nowhere left to run." Sunset said, plopping down onto a beanbag chair. "Except right to the Changelings." Pinkie Pie said, putting her fist into her palm, creating an explosion effect with her mouth. "Maybe that's it." Fluttershy said. "What?" Everyone, save the Doctor, asked. "Maybe," Fluttershy said, standing up, "Instead of going head-to-head against them, we could just talk to them." The group stood in silence for a few seconds before Rainbow Dash spoke up, "Ha ha, are you serious?" Fluttershy just blinked. "Really darling, it's completely insane!" Rarity scoffed. "And awfully risky." Applejack retorted. "It's crazy!" Rainbow said. "But..." Twilight began. "So crazy..." Sunset continued. "It just might work!" the Doctor finished, jumping to his feet. "You're not." Rainbow said. "You're... you're going with my plan?" Fluttershy asked, grabbing part of her hair. "Oh yes!" the Doctor shouted gleefully. "But it's nuts!" Rainbow retorted. "But, think about it Rainbow!" the Doctor said excitedly, walking over to Rainbow Dash, "Using brute force when we're highly outnumbered makes even less sense than just talking to them! Talking could get us somewhere!" "Then wha' do ya plan on doin'?" Applejack asked. "Get captured." the Doctor replied. "Uh... what?" Applejack asked, shocked. "Well, not captured exactly, but something similar." the Doctor explained, "I did something similar a few years ago, but if I get to chat with the Changeling Queen, I should be able to talk to them, and figure out their plans. If I can't, well it's been nice knowing you. Wish me luck?" Everyone wished him some kind of luck, and the Doctor smiled. "You've been brilliant, all of you. Pinkie Pie, keep partying. Keep bringing joy to whoever comes along. "Rarity, you're creativity is inspirational for people everywhere, so keep designing. "Applejack, you're honesty makes you one of the most trustworthy people I've ever met. Whatever comes, stay that way. "Rainbow Dash, stay loyal, and keep voicing your opinion. It can come off as tactless at times, but everyone around you know you mean best. "And, Fluttershy. You're shy, introverted and you're a bit difficult to warm up to, but you are utterly brilliant. You came up with this plan. If it works, you made it work. You're brilliant you are, and stay that way." The Doctor looked around the room. "If this is good-bye, then just remember that you are all brilliant, and never change. Sunset, Twilight, come on." And the three left the room. "What did you mean, this might be good-bye?" Twilight asked, as the three began to slowly head down the hallway. "This could be it." the Doctor said, sadly, "Our final adventure. I might not make it out of this." "Why?" Sunset asked. "Because, I have a way to solve this, but it could be my ending." The Doctor sighed. "It's been good though hasn't it, the time we've spent together?" "I'd say so." Sunset said, smiling. "I really don't know you all that well." Twilight sighed, "But, it's definitely been interesting. A lot of things would be different if you never showed up. I'd still be at Crystal Prep." "You've definitely changed things around here, for the better in my opinion." Sunset said, "And, you helped me build confidence in myself. After the Fall Formal, I had nothing. And, sometimes it felt as though even my friends were ignoring me. After the Battle of the Bands, I had a little confidence, but there wasn't much there. "When you showed up, and took me travelling, it changed me. My confidence level grew, and I believed in myself. I'd be a lot different if you were never here." Sunset reached up and hugged the Doctor. He hugged her back, tightly. The Doctor let go, and smiled down at her. "Well," the Doctor began, "I suppose this is it. Thank you. Both of you. And... good-bye." The Doctor turned on his heels, and walked down the hallway. There were two Changeling guards in front of him. He had a plan. It was a bit of a terrible plan, but there was no harm on trying. He stepped cheerfully in front of them. "Hello! Sorry to intrude, but I understand you're Changeling guards, and are supposed to ignore all human beings, am I right?" The Changeling's hissed at the Doctor. "At least reply to me, you're not mindless drones." "Yessssssss, thossssse were our orderssssssssss." One of the Changelings replied. It's voice sounded like glorified hissing. "You have scanners don't you?" "Yessssss." "Then scan me." the Doctor said, stretching out his arms. "Go on." The Changelings obliged, "There you go. Ya see, bio-vascular system. Lower body temperature. I'm not human. Therefore, you can't ignore me. If you can't ignore me, you have to take me to the highest level of authority. And, you're highest level of authority is your queen, who is likely in the gym. So, tell me, am I right?" The Changelings exchanged glances, before one said, "Come with usssss." "Okay then, take me to your leader." the Doctor chuckled, "Yep, still fun to say." > Greeting the Queen > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Changeling guards shoved the Doctor into the gym. It had gone under a major overhaul since he was last there. Walls were oozing with green slime, and technology was set up everywhere. Computers, laser grids, and other sorts of alien tech. There were chrysalis’s hanging from the ceiling, with students trapped inside them, unconscious. The Changelings let go of the Doctor, who was standing right in front of a large, green flower, with several petals, and green pollen pumping out of it, being taken to a storage tank to the right of the room. It was sitting on the stage, with a small set of stairs just below it. The plant was moving, up and down, like it was breathing. “I asked to see your queen,” the Doctor said, facing the guards, “so, where is she?” Then, the petals began to unfold on the flower. “Oh, that’s very clever.” The Doctor said. “It doesn’t just look alive, it is alive.” As the petals began to unfold a body rose up. A woman’s body. Sticky insect wings separated from the body as it rose up, and beginning to breathe. The woman’s skin was a dark grey, almost black, with a long, crackled horn sticking out of her head. She had long, flowing, dark teal hair, that went as far down as her waist. She wore a simple green teal and black dress, which extended down to her knees, complete with black, knee-length boots, with light green highlights on the soles. Her wings began pumping, and vibrating, similar to an insects. She rose off the ground, only a few inches, and glided down the stairs. She landed right in front of the Doctor. She was tall, easily a few inches taller than the Doctor. “Who is this?” The Changeling Queen asked, looking toward her guards. “He requesssssssted to see you, mistressssssss.” The Changeling to the Doctor’s right replied. “And, you brought him here?” She replied. “Yessssssss.” “Fools!” She shouted, and her horn began to glow a light green. A magic veil surrounded the guards, and they screamed hopelessly as they were disintegrated by the Queen’s magic. She turned towards the Doctor, and said, “Now, it’s your turn.” “No! No! No! No! Hold on! Just for a moment!” The Doctor pleaded, “Just for a moment! I just want to talk! Just talk!” The glow from the Queen’s horn ceased, and her faced straightened. “Who are you?” “I’m the Doctor, hello.” He said, “And, you must be Queen Chrysalis, if I’m not mistaken, considering the versions of you I’ve dealt with before.” “Before?” Chrysalis asked. “Yeah, I kinda had a run in with some Changelings a few years ago.” The Doctor said, scratching the back of his head. “It was nice, really.” “It wasn’t our faction then?” Chrysalis said, sitting down on the steps. “No, it was a different one.” The Doctor said, “Although, you are the only ones left.” Chrysalis’s face sank. “How could you know that?” “I kinda…monitor the universe, keep it safe.” The Doctor said. “Then you must know of the Trickster.” “Of course. I’ve only met him once, but, you did serve in his war.” “War?” “The first Time War. I fought in the last, between the Time-Lords and the Daleks, but, you fought in the very first Time War, between the Pantheon of Discord and the Time Lords, back in the olden days. Your ancestors fought in it. The Time Lords trampled the Pantheon, and it was broken up. Discord himself went to Equestria, where he lost most of his power, and tried to take over that land. “As far as the Trickster’s Brigade; they broke up, and were scattered about the universe. The Time Beetles became all but extinct, and the Changeling factions were scattered through the cosmos. To keep order, the first Queen Chrysalis was cloned, and sent into every faction, with her basic DNA, to clone another one of her, in case the original one died. Most of them are gone now, all except you lot.” “Such…intimate knowledge of my species.” Chrysalis said. “Knowledge I myself didn’t know.” “Your ancestors didn’t tell you?” the Doctor asked. “Never.” Chrysalis said. “Anyway, I have a feeling you didn’t come here to rent a flat,” the Doctor began, “therefore, you’re here to invade.” “Ah, Doctor, you’re here to stop us.” Chrysalis said, her wings beginning to pulse. “Well, yeah, of course.” The Doctor said, untying his bow-tie, “So, I see one problem, and, that’s that.” The Doctor pointed toward the crack in the stage curtain. Just like the one before, it was glowing, and it seemed as though it was concreted in the curtain. He maneuvered around Chrysalis, and headed toward the crack, undoing the top button on his shirt. He didn’t touch it however. “You came thought this, meaning it’s a crack in space. But, there’s only a few of you. A few hundred, max. But, there are millions of you. Why only a few of you?” But, before Chrysalis could speak again, the Doctor walked up to her and answered his own question. “Because, you don’t want to risk them coming through. No. That’s not it. Oh!” The Doctor shouted, jumping off the stage, “Of course! You’re just the ground troops! The scouts! That's what the first Changeling through the first crack was for! You’re here to survey the area, before summoning the rest of them! Brilliant! But, how do you summon them? You know that you can only pass through the crack once. It’s a one way trip. So, you must have another method to summon them, but, what?” Chrysalis remained silent, as if waiting for the Doctor to solve the problem. “Oh, the pollen!” the Doctor shouted, and ran over to the flower. “Of course! You’re using the pollen as an energy source! You’re pumping the pollen out of the plant, and keeping it in storage tanks!” He ran over to the pollen tanks, examining them, noticing there were pipes leaving them toward the ceiling. “The pollen is powering something, which is on the roof. But, what would you have on the roof? Well, the only logical thing is a transmitter. A way to send a communique to the remaining Changelings on Gaea, so they can come through the crack, and invade Earth. It’s brilliant! Well, totally wrong and completely evil, but still brilliant! “But, here’s what I don’t understand, Changelings feed on love, not hatred and fear.” The Doctor said. “Oh, that’s where you’re wrong, Doctor.” Chrysalis explained, “We feed on all emotion, but, love is the strongest. If given the choice between a little bit of love, or a lot of hatred, we’d choose hatred.” “So, that’s your plan.” The Doctor said, a tone of anger in his voice. “You summon the rest of the Changelings, and invade Earth, feeding on the emotions of anger and fear.” Little to the Doctor’s knowledge, Sunset and Twilight were looking through the gym doors, listening to him rambling. “He is clever, isn’t he?” Twilight asked, adjusting her glasses. “More than you know.” Sunset replied. “Congratulations, Doctor, you’ve discovered my plans.” Chrysalis said, smiling. “So, what are you going to do about it?” “It’s not about what I’m going to do, Chrysalis, it’s what you’re going to do.” The Doctor said. Chrysalis raised an eyebrow. “Really?” “Yeah, really.” The Doctor said, and began pacing, “Option one: you can surrender.” “What?” Chrysalis asked. “You can surrender.” The Doctor repeated. “You surrender, and live your lives here. On Earth. You look like a human, and act like one, feeding off the love of people around you, but, not sucking them dry! Just the residue of it, not enough to hurt anyone. “Option two,” the Doctor pulled out his sonic screwdriver, “I use this to reverse the polarity of that crack, causing every organism that ever interacted with that is sucked right back in. Every Changeling would be pulled into it. And, once inside it, it’ll be like you were never born, like you never existed.” “But, you would’ve interacted with the crack,” Chrysalis said, her wings starting to buzz, “you would be pulled in to it as well. Are you willing to do that?” “If that’s what it takes to stop you,” the Doctor said, “Yes.” “Very well then.” Chrysalis said, and turned to more guards. “Seize him!” Two Changeling guards quickly flew towards the Doctor, and grabbed his arms, causing him to drop his sonic screwdriver to his feet. “Sorry to rain of your parade, Doctor, but, I’m afraid your arguments are invalid.” Chrysalis said, flying upwards, “We will never surrender, as surrendering is simply not in our nature. Instead, I think I will kill you, and then take the world for myself. With you out of the way, there is no one who can stop me!” “We have to do something!” Sunset gasped. “I’m just not sure what! We’re no match for them!” Twilight still stood next to her, figuring out a plan of action in her head. She had one solution, but it was very risky. “There is nothing you can do, Doctor!” Chrysalis shouted, rising upwards, showing her superiority, “The world will fall, and we will rise! The Changelings will thrive once again, and there is no one who can stop us!” Suddenly Twilight Sparkle stormed through the gym doors. > A Noble Sacrifice > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight bolted into the gym, grabbing the sonic screwdriver at the Doctor feet, before taking back off toward the crack in the curtain. She fumbled the sonic, searching for the button, and once she found it, she aimed it toward the crack, and held down the button. “Twilight! No!” The Doctor shouted, pulling his arms free and running toward her. The crack opened wide, and a strong wind formed in the gym, heading toward the crack. The Doctor reached out his hand, and grasped Twilight’s, as she dropped the sonic screwdriver. Changelings began to swarm in the room, trying to escape the might of the wind, but we unable to, and were soon being pulled toward the crack. The Doctor was barely affected by this wind, as her never interacted with the crack, and had a firm grip on the floor. He grabbed Twilight hand with his other hand as well, as he didn’t want to lose her. Chrysalis had grabbed on to one of the cocoons hanging from the ceiling, but it wasn’t strong enough, and quickly gave away, caused her to be sucked toward the crack. She saw Twilight, and just before being pulled in, she swung her leg into Twilight’s face. Twilight recoiled in pain, and she let go of the Doctor’s grip she fell backwards. He glasses fell off her face, and she fell backwards, falling into the white crack. Sunset watched in horror as her friend was pulled into the white abyss, and, then remember that should would no longer be able to remember her. She cowered down to the floor, trying to remember everything about her. Her appearance, her face, her hair style, and her entire life. Changelings were being pulled into the crack as the Doctor shouted. He kept shouting her name over and over, until every single Changeling was pulled into it, and the crack snapped shut, and disappeared. The wind had died down, and the Doctor looked at where Twilight had just been. On the floor, was his sonic screwdriver, and her glasses, one lens cracked. The Doctor picked them both up, and shoved the screwdriver in his pocket, and looked at the glasses. Twilight’s glasses in hand, the Doctor walked slowly through the room, his mouth slightly open, and his eyes clouded. He excited it, and saw Sunset Shimmer quietly crying in front of the door. She looked up, and saw the Doctor standing there, before saying through tears, “I-I remember her, b-but h-how?” “You’re a time traveler.” The Doctor explained, his voice soft, “You’re more likely to remember her. And, how had did you try to remember her?” “As-as hard as I could.” Sunset stuttered. “That’s why.” The Doctor explained. “You remember her, therefore everything she did happened. But, now, she’s just a memory.” The Doctor knelt down, “She will live on. In you. We are the only ones in the universe who remember her. And we must never forget her.” Sunset looked in the Doctor’s eyes, and for the first time, fully understood him. Despite his face, his age showed age. His eyes were too old to belong to that face, but, at the same time they did belong. The Doctor was quite possibly the wisest person she had ever met, and his eyes showed that. “Now,” the Doctor said, “Because we also remember the Changelings, we have to stop that transmitter for sending the signal.” The Doctor looked toward the roof, and asked, “Is there a way to the roof?” Fighting back tears, Sunset replied, “Y-yes.” The Doctor looked in her eyes. “I don’t want to be rude, but, we can mourn later, right now, we need to stop that transmitter.” Sunset wiped her eyes, and said, “Follow me, I know the way to the roof. “ She stood up, as did the Doctor, and ran down the hallway, the Doctor following her. She ran into the library, and climbed the stairs to the second floor. She ran through the book shelves, before reaching a janitor’s closet. She opened it, and then grabbed a ladder out of it. “What’re you doing?” the Doctor asked. “There’s a loose ceiling tile right there,” Sunset replied, pointing to one of the tiles, “It leads right to the roof.” She set up the ladder just below the ceiling tile, and climbed up it, moving the tile out of her way, and revealing the sky. The Doctor climbed up after her, and she helped pull him out of the school. The sun was just starting to rise. The Doctor spotted the transmitter a few meters away, and ran over to it, his feet sliding. He slid towards it, and pulled out his sonic screwdriver, and began to use it on the operations panel. “Argh!” he groaned, “It’s deadlocked!” “Then what can you do?” Sunset asked, kneeling next to him. “Nothing. There’s nothing to do.” The Doctor said. “Um… Doctor?” “Millions of Changelings are going to come through the crack, and invade Earth.” “Doctor?” “All because of a stupid deadlock system!” “Doctor?” “What?!” the Doctor cracked. “The crack closed, remember?” Sunset said, “The Changelings can’t come here.” The Doctor blinked, with a dumbfounded look on his face. “Right…” he said, rubbing his hand through his hair. “Sorry, caught up in the moment.” He stood up, and said, “I still have to get rid of it though. I can use the TARDIS, I suppose.” “Doctor! Sunset! What are you doing up there?!” A voice called. The Doctor and Sunset looked down the front of the school, and saw the Humane Five, looking up at them. “Why are you up there?” Rainbow Dash called. “Changeling Transmitter!” the Doctor shouted back, “I needed to deactivate it!” “Why?!” Rainbow shouted. “Changeling invasion, remember?” Sunset shouted. “No!” Rainbow replied. “What are Changelings?!” Sunset turned to the Doctor, and he said, “They fell through the crack. They never existed.” Sunset sighed, and sat down, with her legs hanging off the school. The Doctor sat next to her, and stared at her. As Sunset began crying again, the Doctor wrapped his arm around her, and squeezed her shoulder. “I’ll…I’ll never forget her.” Sunset bawled. And the Doctor, who didn’t even shed a tear, replied, “No. Neither will I.” And the sun rose a crimson red on that Christmas morning. > Epilogue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everyone showered that morning. To most people, it was a Christmas Day, where everyone would be celebrating, and having fun, but, not everyone was having fun. Both Sunset and the Doctor were depressed, and weren’t spending time with everyone else. The Doctor was wearing his blue suit, with a white shirt, and a red and green Christmas tree pattern on his tie, while Sunset was wearing her normal clothes, besides her leather jacket. Everyone had gathered at Pinkie Pie’s house, where they were having a jolly good time, minus the Doctor and Sunset. They were sitting in the living room, separate from the rest of the group, where they simply sat in silence. The worst part? Everyone had forgotten about Christmas Eve’s ordeal. It was as if the Changeling Invasion, and Twilight’s death never happened. In fact, they never existed. However, everything they did still happened. “Come on, you guys!” Pinkie Pie shouted, jumping into the room. “We’re opening presents!” She pulled them both up, and forced them into the party room, where everyone was opening Christmas gifts. Sunset had bought something for Twilight, but, that was rather useless now. The Doctor also had something for Twilight, but he felt that would also be pointless. But, he had bought something for Sunset. And, Sunset had bought something for the Doctor. The Doctor presented his gift to Sunset, which was in a small, blue box. She opened it, and pulled out a small, black pen, which had a blue emitter of the top. “Sonic pen,” the Doctor explained, “I saw one before, and thought you might need one. Just in case.” Sunset smiled. “Thank you.” Then she reached behind her, and grabbed a small present. “I got you something too.” The Doctor grabbed the present, and opened it. Inside was a golden wrist-watch. The face was also golden, with only the even numbers printed on it. It was already set to the correct time. “Wow.” The Doctor said. “Thanks.” He smiled and hugger her, before standing back up, and walking away. “Sorry I didn’t get any of you anything.” Sunset said, looking at her friends. “Aw, it’s fine Sugar cube.” Applejack said, smiling. “Is that the reason you’re so bummed out?” Rainbow Dash asked. “Cheer up, darling, you should know it doesn’t matter what you get us, it just matters that you’re here. We don’t need items to know you care.” Rarity said, sitting next to Sunset. Sunset smiled, and embrace the five in a warm hug. “Thank you. All of you. I don’t know what I’d be without you all.” When the girls separated, Pinkie Pie said, “Now come on! It’s Christmas! Let’s party!” “Hold on! I’ll go get the Doctor.” Sunset said, gleefully. She ran outside, and looked for the TARDIS, which the Doctor had parked outside. And, when she found it, it was already dematerializing. When Sunset returned home that night, she looked at the table. Twilight’s glasses were sitting there, along with a present. She stepped toward them, and looked at the present. On the tag was a note. To Sunset, Love, Twilight. She opened the present, and pulled out a black leather jacket. The collar was turned up, and there was a gold stripe on each sleeve. She pulled it on. It was very comfortable. And, Sunset smiled, happy that her friend thought of her. A few weeks later, when Sunset was sitting in her science class. She had started wearing a light blue dress under her new jacket. She liked her new look, and it suited her. Then, she heard the TARDIS noise. She looked out the window, and saw the Doctor standing in front of the mirror to Equestria. He was wearing his brown suit, and light blue shirt, with a brown and blue tie, all under his light brown trench coat. His right hand was in his suit pocket, while his left was hanging free. His face was straight, although, it looked like it was sagging a little. She ran out of class, despite Mr. Turner calling her back, and ran outside to meet him. When she got up close to him, she looked directly in his eyes. They were sad. He entered the portal to Equestria, and vanished. A few minutes later, and the Doctor returned. He stared at Sunset again. He didn't say anything. He didn't need to. He slowly turned around, and entered the TARDIS, closing the door behind him. A few seconds later, and the time machine was gone. Sunset looked up, tears in her eyes, and slowly trudged back towards the school. Princess Twilight Sparkle woke up from her slumber, and yawned. She hadn’t slept like that for a long time. She sat up, rubber her eyes, and saw a figure standing before her. His mane was brown, his coat a lighter brown, and he wore a brown suit, and held in his mouth a note. He set it on her bed, and walked out of the room, entering a tall, blue, wooden box, which dematerialized with a loud screeching noise. Twilight’s horn shone, and the note levitated toward her, and opened. It read only two words: Good-bye. She looked up, and shouted, “Spike!” When Spike arrived, Twilight’s pillow was soaked with tears. "Well, it seems the universe is giving you a second chance at life." Suddenly, she saw a little bit of light. A crack in the darkness, shining white. She headed toward it, or at least she thought she did, since the crack got closer to her. As it seemed to consume her, she only heard three words: Silence will fall.
