Chapter 1: Rainbow Dash and Dusk Shine?
Dusk Shine was writing down notes on a large pad with a quill. He was doing experiments with his friend,Twilight. Things seemed to be normal between the two of them, despite the fact that he was an alternate version of her. Dusk Shine was in the room in the basement. He had created his own workshop to calculate some experiments for magic. It was also to help catalog the books. A lot has happened in the past few months that Dusk Shine began to recall them.
During one of his experiments, Dusk Shine and his five friends were sent across the dimension. His actions landed them in another dimension that had alternate versions of themselves, but as mares. While Dusk Shine and Twilight focused on trying to get the stallions home, the ten friends hung out with one another. They hoped to fit in and try speeding up their time. the two groups formed a friendship with one another. This put fear into Dusk Shine as he felt that if they kept hanging out with the mares, then the dimensions would crumble together, yet such an event didn’t happen.
When the portal was finished, Dusk Shine and Twilight brought everyone together and hoped to say goodbye and thank you. However, Bubble Berry, Applejack, Rainbow Blitz, Elusive and Butterscotch didn't want to say goodbye. They had been so well inversed into the new world that it would be too painful to say goodbye. Being told that they would have to leave all the friends and memories behind wasn’t right. Bubble Berry was having so much fun with Pinkie Pie. Applejack knew his family needed him, yet the other Applejack and her family got so use to how helpful he was. Butterscotch and Fluttershy had gotten use to each other’s company that something connected between the two. Same goes for Rainbow Dash, Rainbow Blitz, Elusive, and Rarity. Twilight and Dusk Shine didn’t realize that their friends had gotten so use to one another; it would have been difficult to part with them. When Twilight and Dusk Shine discussed this little problem, it turned out that Twilight didn’t want Dusk Shine to go either. Dusk Shine even got use to Twilight being around that he didn’t seem so lonely. To have a mare share similar interests with him was very rare. So, Dusk Shine and Twilight dismantled the portal and told Dusk Shine’s friends that they would be calling this dimension their home.
Twilight soon came into the room that her stallion counterpart was in. She could tell he was deep in thought about something. Yet, she didn’t want to bother him while he was thinking so hard. She wanted to tell him it was just them alone in the house. Barbara and Spike went out to collect some things from the store, but Twilight could tell that Barbara just wanted to be alone with Spike for the day. As much as Twilight wanted to be protective over Spike, the alicorn could sense Barbara wasn't a bad dragon.
Dusk Shine turned his head to realize that Twilight was in the room with him. “Ahhhh, Twilight.”
“I am sorry, Twilight. I didn’t realize you were there.” Dusk Shine continued apologizing when he really shouldn't.
“It’s okay. I didn’t want to disturb you during your moment of peace.” Twilight said. She would have probably reacted the same way if Dusk Shine entered the room.
“Nah, its okay since this is your house after all.” Dusk Shine told her. “Just been thinking about the last few months with us being here and the development of our friends.”
“Oh yeah, that’s right,” Twilight said before thinking back to about a few weeks.
Dusk Shine and Twilight had learned that some of their friends were in a relationship with one another. It first started with Bubble Berry and Pinkie Pie. The two were working at Sugarcube Corners. The two didn’t even realize they were in love. The two had been such great friends that they didn’t notice how others viewed them. Eventually, they decided to at least try going out on a romantic level. It turned out that the two were head over hooves with one another. Thus, Pinkie Pie and Bubble Berry started to go out.
Next was Elusive and Rarity. The two had been designing clothes for Canterlot’s richest and elite ponies. One day, Rarity had met a charming stallion that she thought would have been the one. Her opinions had changed when the stallion showed his true colors. Rarity would have been hurt by this stallion, if Elusive wasn’t around. Elusive fought off the stallion, causing Rarity to take favor with her stallion counterpart. Yet, she was afraid he would reject her. Rarity would have to keep her feeling bottled up for a whole week until Elusive decided to be brave and tell her his feelings. Rarity couldn’t have been happier in all of her life.
Butterscotch and Fluttershy’s love story was a quiet one. the two had spend time working on the health of their animals. Yet, both of them knew they had feelings for one another, however they both kept their feelings bottled up because they were afraid that some pony or stallion liked the other. What if Butterscotch stood in the way of Fluttershy’s future with that stallion? What if Fluttershy found some way to destroy whatever happiness Butterscotch could hope to have with a special marefriend? The two struggled with their emotions that they yelled at one another. With their hurt feelings, Butterscotch and Fluttershy avoided one another. Through the meddling of Discord, Fluttershy and Butterscotch were confronted by their feelings. The two sorted out their frustrations and felt very embarrassed. They decided to test the waters of their relationship by going on a date once a month. The two Pegasus might have been embarrassed by being called marefriend and coltfriend, yet the two were still going on strong.
The last relationship had developed was between the two Applejacks. One day during a trip to another city that would accept their apples, the female Applejack sprained her hoof. Applejack decided to carry both loads of apples and Applejack on his back. The female Applejack did thank him, but felt horrible when she realized that some stallion helped her along. She didn’t want to be the helpless mare that would let a stallion help her out. So, the mare started to double her work load. When the stallion noticed this, he began to work twice as hard. The two overworked each other, causing Granny Smith to yell at them about their feelings for one another. She might have been old, but she wasn’t that dumb. The elder pony noticed how much the two were in love, yet it was their stubborn pride that blinded them. When the two Applejacks apologized, they realized that Granny Smith had a point. They were blinded to see that they held romantic feelings for one another. So, both the Applejacks decided to at least try to see their relationship through anther perspective. The next family reunion came and the mare Applejack introduced the colt as her coltfriend.
The only ponies not in a relationship were Rainbow Blitz, Rainbow Dash, Dusk Shine and Twilight. The Princess looked over at the stallion, who was still writing down notes about an experiment he and Twilight were working on.
The mare sighed as she had to be the one to ask him the romantic questions. For as much as Twilight was clueless when it came to romance, Dusk Shine was denser. “Say Dusk Shine,” Twilight gulped down a bit of saliva. “Mind if I ask you a personal question?”
“Sure, as long as the personal question is within reason.” Dusk Shine said as he wasn’t focused on Twilight at the moment.
“By any chance, do you have feelings for any mares at the moment?” Twilight asked
“Do you mean if I have taken any interest in a mare recently?” Dusk Shine finally gave Twilight his attention. Twilight nodded causing Dusk Shine to think slowly about what she just asked. He had been in this world for so long that the thought of having feelings for any mare had past through him.
“Not lately, why do you ask?” Dusk Shine tilts his head in confusion. Twilight hasn’t asked him anything like this before. Why was she asking about this now?
“Oh, just curious I guess.” Twilight blushed. “Anyways, I was hoping we can go on a date sometime.”
“I would love that very much.” Dusk Shine looked away for the moment.
“Good, I am going to see to Barbara and Spike.” Twilight said vanishing via her teleportation spell.
Dusk Shine only sighed when Twilight was gone. He put down the notepad and began to write down something on a scroll. He should have really talked with her before she disappeared. He already had plans.
Twilight was walking down the streets of Ponyville cheerfully. She couldn’t believe that she and Dusk Shine were going to go on a date together. He was the smartest stallion she had ever met. She just hoped not to do anything that would mess up her date.
Suddenly, a flash of rainbow colors made Twilight spin around. The alicorn felt very dizzy and tripped on her hooves.
“Opps, sorry Twilight.” Rainbow Dash flew over to help her friend.
“Its okay, Rainbow Dash, why are you in such the hurry today? Well, you are normally in a hurry, but this time seems different.” Twilight chuckled before she managed to lift herself off the ground.
“Well, I have a lot to do today. Rainbow Blitz is trying to beat me in clearing the clouds.” Rainbow Dash said before seeing a trail of rainbows destroying five clouds.
“That’s fifty-two, Rainbow Crash.” Rainbow Blitz laughed along as he was far away from them.
“Well, I am going on a date with Dusk Shine.” Twilight smiled. Rainbow Dash turned her head to hear Twilight’s words. “You’re going on a date with, Dusk Shine?”
“Yes, I am so excited.” Twilight cheered and bounced around. Rainbow Dash wasn’t as enthusiastic hearing what Twilight said, but gave Twilight a fake smile in support.
“I am happy for you.” Rainbow Dash cringed.
“Yo, Rainbow Dash.” Rainbow Blitz called her. “Are you giving up, because I have seventy-five clouds to my score?”
Rainbow Dash felt she was being tugged by Twilight and Rainbow Blitz. Her ego ultimately wasn’t going to let Blitz get the best of her, yet she wanted to tell Twilight something. “I have to go Twilight, but maybe we can talk later.”
Rainbow Dash zoomed up in the sky to play catch up with Rainbow Blitz. Twilight looked up at the sky seeing the two swirling the rainbow trail together. “They do make a great couple.”
Twilight returned to the castle with Spike and Barbara. Spike kept avoiding Barbara, who was looking at Spike with interest. The young dragon tucked Twilight’s coat.
“Twilight, pleases don’t leave me with her again. She scares me.” Spike said.
“Don’t be rude, Spike. Besides, Barbara loves to hang out with you.” Twilight told her son.
“Yeah, but I am not sure if…” Spike said before realizing Twilight was gone and Barbara was staring at him with interest.
Once Twilight made it into the kitchen leaving the dragons to do whatever they wanted, she put away the food. It didn’t take Twilight until after she was done with the unpacking off groceries that Dusk Shine had left a note for her. The alicorn levitated the note that Dusk Shine left her.
Twilight,
Something has come up. I apologize in advantage, but I can’t seem to make it to our date tonight. You have every right to be mad at me if you want.
Dusk Shine
Twilight reread the note in worry. “He canceled our date? Why did he cancel our date? Was I being too forceful? Was I not strong enough? I guess he had a good reason to cancel it. Maybe something did come up.”
Twilight didn’t want to push the issue. If Dusk Shine had something that would take time away from their date, then Twilight should let him. As the alicorn exited the kitchen, Barbara walked inside. “Twilight, do you need any help?”
The dragon walked forward seeing Twilight wasn’t in the kitchen. She explored the kitchen to see if there was anything out of the ordinary. Luckily, she found a scroll in which looked a lot like the scrolls that Dusk Shine always uses. “Why did Dusk Shine leave this here? Twilight, something has come up…”
Once the dragon inspected the note, she dropped it and covered her mouth. “Oh no, I have to tell Twilight before she realizes what is going on.”
Barbara left the kitchen and hoped that she would catch up to Twilight. She didn’t want the alicorn to learn something that Barbara already knew about. Barbara just hoped that Twilight wouldn’t over react to what Barbara knew about Dusk Shine’s ‘other plans’.
Twilight decided to get some fresh air. If Dusk Shine had plans for the day, then Twilight should at least do something with her time. She wasn’t going to dwell on the subject. She didn’t want to force Dusk Shine to go on a date with her.
Twilight hummed along hoping to find at least something to do.
“Why if it isn’t the alicorn princess herself.” A voice caught Twilight’s attention. She turned around to see Rainbow Blitz was flying behind her.
“Hi Rainbow Blitz, did you and Rainbow Dash finish you game?” Twilight smirked.
“Yeah, but I can’t seem to find Rainbow Dash. She told me that she had plans with some pony.” Rainbow Blitz crossed his hooves. “I’m the only stallion that she hangs with. Who else is there?”
“I am sure Rainbow Dash is fine. Have you seen Dusk Shine at all? I haven’t seen him since this morning?”
“Nope, can’t say I have. Wait, is this about you and Dusk Shine going on that date?” Rainbow Blitz could help but laugh.
“Yes,” Twilight nods looking towards Rainbow Blitz. She and Blitz were friends, yet the two didn’t spend that much time together. Twilight thought of Rainbow Blitz as being an arrogant stallion, who just wanted attention. He was considerate of others, but he just seemed like too much of a show off. With Rainbow Dash it was different. Rainbow Dash knew when to stop showing off. Blitz on the other hand, was the exact opposite. No wonder it took a long time for Rainbow Dash to even tolerate him.
“Well, we can find them together.” Rainbow Blitz decided to stick with Twilight. He wasn’t too keen on the idea of hanging with Twilight. She kept pointing out his flaws. She kept yelling at him whenever he did something to mess up her work or that she complained too much.
Suddenly, the pair heard two familiar voices from where they were. Both Twilight and Rainbow Blitz poked their heads out to see the two ponies that they were searching for.
Twilight and Rainbow Blitz saw Rainbow Dash and Dusk Shine talking to one another. Both of them were laughing as Rainbow Blitz was furious.
“What the hay? Why is Dash with Dusky? That Egghead is making a move on my mare.”
Twilight heard what Rainbow Blitz said “Don't call him that, and Rainbow Dash is not your mare.”
Rainbow Blitz hid to keep watch on the couple. “Well, she is going to be.”
Meanwhile, Dusk Shine was talking to Rainbow Dash. The two were making their way to the library.
“Thanks again for helping me out with this. I couldn’t ask Twilight this, so I thought you might help me.” Rainbow Dash said “I heard you two had a date tonight?”
“Oh, when she asked me that, I should have told her that I needed to help you with something. I should have told her, but she looked too happy. I didn’t want to get her hopes up.” Dusk Shine sighed.
“Well, she is going to find out sooner or later.” Rainbow Dash pointed out. She knew Twilight was as smart as Dusk Shine. Yet, Twilight couldn't exactly help her out.
“So, why come to me to help you study? I am sure Twilight would have been a better teacher.” Dusk Shine wondered why he was the lucky one instead of Twilight.
“Well, I told you how I was studying for the Wonderbolts.” Dash said and looked at him. He nods his head. “Well, her method kind of put me to sleep.”
“I understand. I did the same thing to Rainbow Blitz. So, what kind of studying did you need help with?”
“Well, it’s about air maneuvers and i thought there might be some books about other tricks that i could use to inspire me to fly better.” Rainbow Dash told the stallion she was talking to.
“Well, you can find all that in the library. I shall give you an escort.” Dusk Shine told the cyan Pegasus. The mare smiled before walking alongside the noble stallion. Rainbow Blitz knew Dash didn't care for that mushy stuff, yet she was acting very strange as of late. Most of which seemed to involve Dusk Shine.
Twilight and Rainbow Blitz were getting very jealous about how comfortable Rainbow Dash and Dusk Shine were being to one another.
“We have to stop them. Dusk Shine could do something horrible to Rainbow Dash.” Rainbow Blitz panicked.
“What’s wrong? They are just being friendly with one another” Twilight raised a brow.
“You don’t understand.” He whispered something into Twilight’s ear that made the alicorn blush a bright red. “That is why I need to stop them.”
“Wait Rainbow Blitz, we need a….” Twilight told the stallion before she saw a rainbow trail from where Rainbow Blitz once stood. She sighed finishing her words. “…plan.”
“DUSK SHINE, Take your hooves off my RAINBOWWWWWW!” Rainbow Blitz made his appearance known to the couple. He would have been successful, only if Twilight didn’t teleport right under Rainbow Blitz stopping him from approaching the couple. Twilight looked up seeing Dusk Shine and Rainbow Dash staring at them.
“Oh, Rainbow Blitz and I were just playing a friendly game of tag.” Twilight grinned hoping the couple would buy their game.” Twilight smiled once more before teleporting herself and Rainbow Blitz away from the couple. This earned a confused expression on the faces of Rainbow Dash and Dusk Shine.
