Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash are all normal ponies, until the Amplitude Test. Read more to find out what happens next! :) (I'm not very good at these. This is my first story so like and comment! :)

I was walking to school from Erudite headquarters, which isn't that far of a walk. Today was the day I had to take a test, but not just any test because as the Erudite that I am, I would be so happy and excited for a test. No, this is a different kind of test, the Aptitude Test.
The Aptitude Test was the test that would tell me what faction I belong in. Would it be Amity, the peaceful. They live out in the farms and are always happy and smiling. They wear red and yellow to represent how happy they are. Candor the honest, are the ones that tell the truth. They like law and order. They wear white and black to represent a truth from a lie. Abnegation the selfless, help only others and forget about themselves. They help the factionless by giving them food and clothing. They wear grey and put their mane and tails in buns to draw less attention to themselves. Dauntless the brave, are the soldiers They protect are city from harm and are always doing something crazy. They wear black to represent bravery and courage.
Two of my friends, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were born in Dauntless. They both don't act like the rest of the Dauntless, although Rainbow does enjoy the reckless behavior a little more than Fluttershy. All of my other friends are outcasts too. There's Pinkie Pie, an abnegation born who acts nothing like abnegation. She is always drawing attention to herself with her streamers and balloons. Applejack, amity born doesn't have a big goofy grin on her face all the time and doesn't go around becoming friends with everypony she meets. Rarity, candor born hates the black and white clothes that she has to wear. She says that it's hideous and their is no way of telling the pony's personality from them. I however, am from Erudite, the intelligent. We wear blue and create serums for the factions and the tests, as well as teach at the school. I hope that one day, I can teach at the school. It has always been a dream of mine.
As I walk closer to the school, I start to walk slower and slower and get dizzier and dizzier. I'm scared that the test will tell me that I don't belong in Erudite. I don't want to cause the same pain to my family when my brother, Shining Armor chose Dauntless. I have to be loyal to my faction and my family, I have too.
Once I finally got to the school, I walk over to my classroom and sit down. I always like to get to class early to get all of my stuff ready. I started to relax. The test wasn't until the end of the day and learning always calms me down. Also, the Dauntless were about to arrive. I could see two faint lights in the distance, coming towards us at top speed. I felt a smile come across my face. Whenever I watch the Dauntless jump off that train, it makes me feel brave. Like, I could do that too but I never told anyone. I was afraid about what they might say. Applejack came in and sat to my left. She was wearing a red T-shirt and yellow jeans, something Rarity would complain about. I could tell she was scared as well. 'I wonder if everybody else is feeling this way' I thought. I turn around and sure enough, everypony is making a similar face to Applejack's. Pinkie Pie skipped in looking as happy as ever. She had big smile on her face. She must be excited for the secret sleepover we are having today. We still haven't decided who's faction to have it at. We just can't have it at Amity or Dauntless. Applejack says that Amity wouldn't be to happy if a Dauntless was present on its compound, ad Rainbow Dash is still mad over what happened last time. Apparently, other faction members aren't allowed in Dauntless compound or any compound. We can't do Erudite, now that I think about it. My parents hate breaking the rules and would never agree to have my friends over. Plus I don't think my friends could pass as Erudite. Abnegation would be the easiest to do. Rarity says if you are caught lying in or as a Candor, there are horrible consequences. I lean over to Pinkie Pie, who sat on my right and whisper.
"I think we should do the sleepover at your house tonight. Abnegation seems like the best option".
"Yay!" she replied. "I will give you all your clothes after the Amplitude Test! Let's meet in the front of the school!" The Test. I almost forgot. Luckily, the Dauntless were arriving. I turned my head toward the window just as Rarity walked in. As the train was approaching, I could see ponies jumping out of the train car and onto the grass, some with ropes around their waist and other with little bands around their horns. Then I saw a cyan Pegasus with a rainbow colored mane jump out. Rainbow Dash. She was wearing black jeans with a black tank and a black jacket. Then I saw a yellow Pegasus with a pink mane fly out of the train car. Fluttershy. She was wearing black shorts with a black shirt and jacket. She didn't like jumping out of a train car so she flew. Though Rainbow thought the best part about being Dauntless was the train, soon joined Fluttershy in the sky.
The day went by pretty fast. All of us including Rainbow Dash who is the least excited about school, were enjoying school and participating more than usual. But when an Erudite teacher came on the intercom saying,
"All 16 year olds report to the cafeteria. You will get more directions there" everypony's hearts stopped. Even Pinkie stopped smiling and her mane flattened. There was a few seconds of silence before Pinkie jumped up to the front of the classroom, her mane and tail poofy again and started to sing.
"When I was little filly and the sun was going down~"
"Tell me she isn't" I said to Rarity. Pinkie was singing 'the laughter song' as she called it. Pinkie sang this song at our last sleepover.
"The darkness and the shadows they would always make me frown~! Come one girls I know you know it!" Pinkie continued.
"She is" Rarity replied. Just then, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Applejack all stood up and started to sing,
"I'd hide under my pillow, from what I thought I saw, but grannie pie said that wasn't the way to deal with fears at all~!" They sang in union.
"Then what is?" I turned to see Rainbow standing up with a big grin on her face. She said the same thing when Pinkie sang the song and the sleepover. They don't teach Dauntless children how to deal with fears. Sad. Then, without even thinking I stood up and sang,
"She said Pinkie you gota stand up tall, learn to face your fears. You'll see they can't hurt you just laugh to make them disappear!"
"Come on everypony, sing it!" Pinkie exclaimed to the class
"ha, ha, ha". We heard some ponies wispier.
"Oh, come on!" Pinkie said, seaming a bit annoyed. "I know you can do better than that!"
"Ha, Ha, Ha" We heard again, but this time a little bit louder.
"Louder!" All of us said together.
"HA, HA, HA" We heard. I could see smiles start to form on some of the ponies faces. We were doing it. I marched up to the front of the room to Pinkie, along with the rest of my friends. We all took a deep breath in and screamed,
"LOUDER!"
"HA, HA, HA!!". Now everypony was standing up. Each with a big goofy grin on their face. Even the teacher had a smile on her face.
"Come on everypony! Let's go take those tests! Oh, and don't forget to keep smiling and singing!" Pinkie said to the whole class as we marched out the door and into the hallway. We all sang in union like one big, happy faction as we marched down the hallway toward the cafeteria. Some ponies that were walking toward the cafeteria joined the group as well. Everypony knew Pinkie's song way to well.
"So, giggle and the ghosty, guffaw at the grossie, crack up at the creepy, whoop it up with the weepy. Chortle at the gooky, snortle at the spooky"
"And tell that big dumb scary face to take a hike and leave you alone and if he thinks he can scare you then he's got another thing coming and the very idea of such a thing just makes you wanna ha ha ha ha ha ha" Nopony really knew that part except for Pinkie so she sang that on her own.
"LAUGH!" Everypony sings as we walk in the cafeteria. The whole room is staring at us but we don't care. All my friends turned around (including me) and took a bow.
"Ok everypony, we have to take the test now. But remember to always"
"SMILE!" Everypony said in unison. I look around to see that everypony in the crowd is smiling the biggest smile I have ever seen them have on their face. Pinkie sure does know how to make ponies happy. We all smiled and went to go take our seats. We don't have to sit with our factions to wait so we all sat with each other.
The wait didn't feel like very long. Mostly because I was still smiling from Pinkies song. It made me feel like a Dauntless...sorta. I never realized that Pinkie was brave. I thought that Rainbow was the bravest, not Pinkie. I guess everypony is different.
"Ahem" I look up to see an Erudite unicorn levitating a tablet with her magic.
"Now, I need Twilight Sparkle from Erudite. Rarity from Candor, Applejack from Amity, Pinkie Pie from Abnegation, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy from Dauntless." We all shivered for a moment, until we remembered Pinkie's song. We each put on a big smile, got up and jumped our way to the testing rooms.
When I walked in the room, an Abnegation women motioned me to sit down on a chair in the middle of the room. The chair was really comfy, I felt like I was falling through the chair. I read somewhere once that the chairs where made out of a special material that allowed you to sink into a new world.
"Hello. My name is Katie. I will be looking over your test today" the abnegation women said. She hands me a cup with a strange blue liquid. "When you drink this you will start the test" she hands the cup to me. "You may start whenever you like". I take the cup with my magic and drink it as fast as I could without choking on it. I wanted to get this over as fast as I could. It was a few seconds before I feel myself falling into a new world.
When I woke up, I was in a room. I stood up and walked around. What am I supposed to do now? I turned around to see myself staring back at me.
"Ahh!" I screamed and jumped back.
"Ow!" I heard somepony say.
"Oh! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to..." I turned around to come face to face with another me. It was then that I realized that everywhere in the room their were reflections of me. I started to hyperventilate. Suddenly, two bowls appeared. One with a knife in it and another with a slice of meat in it.
"Choose" one of my duplicates said. I turned to face her with a confused look on my face. How could I choose if I didn't know what to choose for? It was illogical.
"Choose" she repeated.
"How can I choose if I don't know what to choose for?" I responded to my duplicate.
"Fine, have it your way". Just then, the two bowls and my duplicates disappeared and a big, angry manticore showed up. It then noticed me and started running toward me. I started to hyperventilate. I read about manticores before and I know how to fight them. I thought this would be on my test! I stated to charge up my horn, but I remembered something, the Amity motto and something Fluttershy once said. She said to treat everything with kindness, no matter how big or small, and the Amity motto is 'Trust. Self-sufficiency. Forgiveness. Kindness. Fluttershy has used it to get through many situations, and the Amity use it everyday so maybe it will work for me. After all, it's better to make friends then enemies! I walked over to the manticore until we were face to face. The manticore lifted up his paw, about to swipe but I quickly walked up to his other paw and touched it with my hoof ever so slightly, just like Fluttershy would do. It still shocks me that she is Dauntless.
"It's alright" I said to the manticore in the sweetest loving voice that I could make. The manticore brought it's paw down and stated purring. If only Fluttershy was here to see this. She would be rubbing the manticores chest and saying kind words. Then, all of a sudden, a pony appeared in the distance. it was a filly yellow Pegasus with a light pink mane. Fluttershy. I have to say, Fluttershy as tall for a filly. This must have been how she looked before I meet her, but how did she get here? and how is she a filly? The manticore noticed what I was staring at and immediately stopped purring. Fluttershy got up and started looking around. I could tell she looked lost. When she finally turned her head toward the manticore and I, she started to scream at the top of her lungs. The manticore sprung away from me and toward filly Fluttershy, who was now galloping and flapping her wings. She didn't learn how to fly until Rainbow taught her. Then, without even thinking, I jumped up and charged my horn. Seconds later I appeared a couple of feet in front of Fluttershy.
"Get behind me!" I tell her. "You'll be safer there!". She nodded her head and quickly darted behind me. I turn toward the manticore again and start to charge up a spell. The memory of Fluttershy comes up in my mind again but with another one as well. The Dauntless motto. 'We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another'. I dismissed the Fluttershy memory and replayed the Dauntless motto over and over in my head. I am standing up for Fluttershy. Kindness didn't work so Bravery was the next best thing. My spell was finished charging up so I did the only thing left to do. Fire.
I woke up again, but this time I was o a bus. I looked around. There were mostly Abnegation, Candor, and Amity on the bus with a few Erudite. All of the Abnegation were standing up while the rest of the factions were sitting on the chairs. How did I get here? Oh, this must be another part of the test. The bus stopped and an Erudite mare got on. She was scanning each of the seats. I suddenly realized that their were no more seats left and she would have to stand up with all of those books that she was carrying.
"Would you like to sit here?" I heard myself say. Everypony turned their head to look at me. Usually the Abnegation were the only ones who do generous things. Well, Abnegation and Rarity. Rarity is the most generous pony I have ever known. 'An act of generosity never hurts.' she would say.
"Thank You" the Erudite mare replied. I got up and grabbed a pole just as the bus pulled away from the stop. I found myself standing next to a Candor stallion who was reading a news paper.
"Have you seen this pony before?" the Candor stallion asked me. "It could save my life". I looked and the newspaper. It had a picture of a pony that I thought was familiar, but I couldn't put my hoof on it. Applejack once told me that honesty is the best policy no matter what and the Candor motto is 'Dishonesty makes evil possible. Truth makes us inextricable', but I don't want to get that pony in trouble. Well, if he didn't want to get in trouble, he shouldn't have done what he did.
"I believe I have seen him before, but I don't know his name or where she is now" I reply, loud and clear.
"Ok, well if you see him, make sure you turn him in" He replied.
"I will make sure to do that" I say back. Then, the bus comes to a stop and the school. Yay! The school! I quickly hop out and start to walk to the school. Then, I heard a scream coming from behind the school. I run to the ally way that the scream is coming from to find an little Erudite filly running out from it. I quickly lift her up with my magic and levitate her toward me. She starts to scream louder.
"Shh..." I say in a sweet, loving voice like Fluttershy would.
"What's wrong?" I asked the now calm filly.
"Umm... well I was playing ball with my Dauntless friends but one of them hit it to far so it went down the ally and they dared me to go get it." She paused for a moment, the continued.
"At first I said no, but they started to call me chicken so I did but I saw a really scary thing back there!" She finished, pointing her hoof down the ally.
"Oh, is that all? I'm sure it's nothing to worry about" I assured the filly.
"Here, why don't we go over there and deal with it? I am really good with magic" I say while performing a little spark off of my horn. The fillies eyes glow with amazement over the sparks, but eventually nods her head.
"There" she said once we got down the ally. I look over to where she was pointing at and I saw the scariest thing that I have ever saw on the wall.
"Ahh! A spider!" I yelled as I jumped back.
"See, I told you it was scary" the filly said.
"So, what are we going to do about it?" she asked. I was thinking about running away, but then I remembered Pinkie's song from this morning.
"So giggle at the ghosty" I murdered under my breath. Then, I remembered something about Rainbow Dash. I remembered her being the most loyal pony I knew. I had to do this. I had to be happy, loyal, and brave.
"We are going to laugh" I say.
"What? Laugh?" the filly said.
"But that's illogical"
"No it's not. The best way to overcome a fear is with laughter." I say. Funny, Pinkie said those exact words.
"Then we will be brave enough to go up there and get the spider"
"But your a unicorn, can't you just levitate it down here or just kill it with a newspaper or something?" she replies.
"If I levitate it or kill it then you will never overcome your fear and you will be stuck with this fear of spiders forever" I say.
"You don't want a little spider to get in your way now do you?"
"No, but how am I supposed to laugh at something I fear?" the filly asks. I thought for a moment ad then said,
"Pretend that the spider is something else, something funny that you would laugh at"
"Um, ok". The filly walked up to the spider and closed her eyes. A couple seconds later, she was laughing! Really hard! Pretty soon I started laughing too! We were both there, on the floor behind the school, just laughing! Then, a bright white flash came from the sky and everything disappeared.
I woke up laughing in the comfy chair. I quickly stopped and looked over at Katie, who was looking around making sure nobody was looking or hanging around the room.
"What's wrong? What were my results?" I asked. She didn't reply, but she did get me out of the chair and brought me to the door by the back.
"Go home, I will tell your friends that you got sick and went home early" she said this as she tried to push me out the door, but I stopped her.
"But what were my results? What faction did I get?". She hesitated for a moment. Then said,
"You got Erudite" she said. I let out a deep breath of relief.
"And Dauntless, Abnegation, Candor, and Amity" my heart sunk at the sound of the other factions being said.
"They call it Divergent when you get more than one, but you, you represent all 5 factions, elements and you were able to use magic during the test". Elements? What was she talking about. I have to belong to Erudite, I have too!
"When you represent all 5 factions, elements, and you are able to use magic during the test, they call it,". She took a long pause after that sentence, and I was glad she did. I was terrified about what she was going to say next. Mostly because I didn't know what she was going to say. Eventually when she said,
"Yes, the Element of Magic. It is one of the 6 Elements of Harmony. They say when all 6 elements are together, something amazing will happen, but only if they all want it" I was still stunned.
"You and the other elements must each hide in a faction. I would suggest that you all choose different factions, I have a feeling something bad is going to happen" I finally came back from dream land.
"How come I haven't heard of this before? What bad thing is going to happen? How do you know about this? Where and what are the other elements?" I asked.
"The other 5 elements are Honesty, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, and Loyalty. Now go! You have a lot of thinking to do!" She pushed me out the door before I could react.
I stared at the door for a few minutes, trying to understand what just happened. Who could be the other elements? What bad thing was going to happen? I finally turned around and started walk to the front of the school to meet the others for the sleepover. I just needed some rest. As I was walking, I saw Rarity leaning against the wall, crying actually. I walked up to her.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Oh! It's just horrible!" She replied, still sobbing.
"What is?" I asked again, now a little more curious than I was. She hesitated, then looked around. I guess to see if anybody was watching.
"I can't tell you here. I'll tell you later at the sleepover with everypony" she said, calming down a little.
"Ok. I have something to say as well" I said. There was a moment of silence.
"I'm walking to the front of the school to wait for the others, you want to come?" I finally said.
"Ok. It's better than sitting here" she said while wiping some tears from her eyes. She got up and started to walk with me to the front of the school.
"So, why are you outside?" She asked. Rarity was always a more social pony than I was.
"Um... I'll tell you later" I replied. There was an silence between us as we walked down the ally.
After walking a few feet I saw something leaning up against the wall, crying. Rarity noticed this as well. When we go closer I noticed it was a yellow, Dauntless Pegasus pony. Fluttershy.
"Fluttershy! Darling what's wrong?" Rarity said as we ran up to her. She looked up at the call of her name, but went back to crying.
"I just don't know what to do!" I heard her mumble.
"Shh... It's ok, we will figure something out" Rarity and I said almost in union. I guess she heard Fluttershy mumble as well.
"How about we talk about this when you've calmed down and when we are with the others. Would that be ok Fluttershy?" I asked.
"Um.. ok.. I guess" she replied.
"Oh, don't worry darling. Twilight and I hear both have something we need to share. We can do it together!" Rarity said. Fluttershy nodded.
"Here, let us help you up" I said while extending a hoof to Fluttershy. Rarity did the same.
"So, Rarity and I were walking up to the front of the school to meet with the others for the sleepover tonight. You want to walk with us?" I asked Fluttershy once she was up. Again, she replied with a simple nod and we began walking to the front of the school.
We were almost to the front of the school when we saw 2 mares, a Dauntless and an Amity comforting a crying Abnegation mare.
"Rainbow! Applejack! Pinkie! What happened?" I yelled and started to sprint over to them, Rarity and Fluttershy by my side. Rainbow and Applejack quickly spun there heads around to look at us.
"Oh, hi Twilight" Rainbow said. Something was wrong, Rainbow never sounds like that.
"What's wrong?" I asked for the third time today.
"Well, ah had to lave out the back door after taking mah test so ah started to walk to the front of the school but ah found RD here against the wall with Pinkie." Applejack said.
"Oh Pinkie!? Are you alright?" Fluttershy, I guess now noticing Pinkie crying against the wall, ran over to Pinkie's side. Rainbow and Applejack got up and walked over to us.
"We were walking up together to meet you guys for the sleepover" I said. Suddenly, Pinkie popped up, almost scaring Fluttershy to death in the process and said,
"Oh! I almost forgot! Here are your clothes!" she pulled out 5 pairs of Abnegation clothes from out of nowhere and handed them to us.
"Do we really have to wear these? Their so... bleah" Rarity said. Rainbow and Applejack rolled their eyes.
"Yes Rarity, you do. Otherwise you will not blend in as an Abnegation" I responded.
"Um Pinkie? Do you have something for us to change behind?" Applejack asked.
"Oh yeah! Sorry! Here Rainbow and Fluttershy take this" Pinkie handed a towel to them. They just looked at her with confusion.
"Hold the towel up so we can change behind it!" Pinkie said. The two pegasi nodded and put their clothes on the ground, picked up a corner of the towel and flew into the air.
"Ok! Who's first?" Pinkie asked with an excited grin on her face.
Applejack was the first to go change. Rarity had volunteered, but we all agreed that she should go last. She would take the longest and she is the only one out of all of us that knows how to put our mane and tails in buns. Once Applejack was done Pinkie went. Then I and then Rainbow, with me taking over her side of the towel with my magic. Fluttershy went after me with Rarity taking over her side. Once she was done, Rainbow took over her side. When we were all finished getting dressed and putting our mane and tails in buns, we put our real faction clothes in our sattle bags and started to walk to the Abnegation sector of the city.
Abnegation is probably the easiest faction to get into. It was a breeze! When we arrived at Pinkie's house, she had to distract her parents so we could get upstairs, her parents don't like her breaking the rules and having other faction members over for a sleepover was one of them.
Once we got into Pinkie's room, we all rolled out our sleeping bags. Each of them had our names and faction symbol on them. Rarity made them for us last year for our anniversary of being friends party as Pinkie put it, even thought we never actually had the party because we weren't aloud too, but the sleeping bags were very pretty and it made Pinkie cheer up fast. We told each other that we would keep these sleeping bags forever, weather we stayed friends, stayed in our home faction, were no longer friends, or transferred.
Transfer
I shudder at the thought of it. Betraying my home faction? Never. But I don't belong their. Would they still accept me even thought I don't belong? What will happen if they found out? Which faction do I belong in? I'm pretty sure there is no "Element of Magic" faction.
Once we got settled, everypony was silent. Even Pinkie, who is usually bouncing off the walls at this moment, was quiet.
"Why don't we change into our pj's and then we can talk?" I suggested. Silence was a bad sign for us. Especially if it was silent and Pinkie was around. Then you would know something was up.
When we got into our pj's we sat in a circle in the middle of Pinkie's room, it got quiet again. Finally, I decided to break the silence.
"So, I told everypony that I'd tell them something at this sleepover and I believe all of you did as well" everypony's head bobbed up and down.
"But in order to do that" I took a big breath in. I hated breaking the rules.
"I would have to tell you guys my results" Applejack suddenly started to speak.
"Uh Twi? Ah would hav tah tell ya'll mah results as well"
"Umm.. I would too, if that's ok with you of course" Fluttershy said. Pinkie jumped up almost scaring Fluttershy to death, again, her hair bouncing around and said,
"Oh! this s so funny! I would too! We can be twins!" she squealed.
"Not meaning to interrupt" Rarity began, "but I do believe we should be quiet. We don't want to repeat our last sleepover now do we?" Rainbow grunted at the saying of this. "Oh.. and I do believe that I would have to break that rule for this darling" Rarity finished.
"Not that breaking the rules is anything new to me," Rainbow began, "but I would too".
"Ok, so who goes first?" Pinkie asked in a loud wispher. There was a moment of silence. Again, I decided to break the silence.
"I will" Everypony's head turned toward me. Their eyes wide with fear, even the two Dauntless in the room showed fear.
"For my test, I got all 5 factions. Erudite, Dauntless, Abnegation, Candor, and Amity" I said firmly. "This would usually be known as 'Divergent' but I was able to represent all 5 elements, factions and I was able to use magic during the test. This would be known as" I took a deep breath.
"The Element of Magic. It is one of the 6 Elements of Harmony ad when it is joined together with the other 5 elements, something happens but I don't know what" I finished, almost fainting by my lack of air. I looked at my friends, who all had shocked expressions on their faces. They each looked at each other. Finally Applejack got up and said,
"Uh, Twi?" she started, "Ah believe we're the other elements". Now it was my turn to be shocked.
"WHAT?!"
"It's true!" Pinkie was suddenly in my face almost making me scream, again. "The nice Dauntless lady, Tori said I represented all 5 factions AND the Element of Laughter!" She smiled.
"Ah am the Element of Honesty" Applejack said.
"I.. um.. I got the Element of Kindness.." Fluttershy mumbled just loud enough for us to hear.
"I represent the Element of Generosity" Rarity said while flipping her hair.
"And I'm the Element of Loyalty!" Rainbow said, now making a pose and gaining a eye roll from Applejack.
"Wow..." is all I could say. How could it be them? Then it hit me. Each of my friends had told me something that helped me during the test. Fluttershy with being kind to the manticore. Kindness. Rarity with giving up my seat for the Erudite mare. Generosity. Applejack when I told the truth to the Candor stallion. Honesty. Rainbow when I didn't run away from the little filly, but instead stayed by her side. Loyalty. And Pinkie when the little filly and I laughed and the spider to get over our fear.Laughter. How have I not noticed this before?
"So, um" Rainbow began, breaking me out of my trance. "what do we do with this magic power thing?"
"First of all, it's not a 'magic power thing' and second," I paused, not knowing what to say next. "I don't know" I said as I hung my head in shame.
"Oh, it's ok Twi" Applejack said. "Nopony is supposed to have all the answers"
"Is their anything you do know that could help us with understanding this more?" Rarity questioned.
"Well," I began. "I don't know much about them, but I do know we can't look on the computers at Erudite because they track everything that you search. I don't know if it is the same for you".
"The only computers in Dauntless are in the Control room, but your not aloud to go in unless you work their" Rainbow said.
"Ah don't believe we have any computers at Amity" Applejack finished.
"Candor is the same as Dauntless. It's not heavily guarded, but I don't want to get in trouble" Rarity said while Rainbow rolled her eyes.
"Hm..... I don't believe Abnegation has any computers but have you tried books yet?" Pinkie asked.
"No, I haven't and I will not have enough time tomorrow morning to check through books!" I shot back, making Pinkie whimper. I sighed.
"Sorry girls, I'm just exhausted from all of this"
"It's ok darling, but I do have to ask, should we try activating our element? The very pretty Abnegation lady that viewed my test told me that when all 6 elements are together, they can create something wonderful but only if they all want it" Rarity concluded.
"Oh! I love doing those types of things even though I never done anything like it but I'm sure it will be fun! Oh! Can we throw a party for this? We haven't had one in a-"
"Pinkie!" Rainbow almost screamed. "I don't think it is a good idea to have a party right now, considering what happened last time!" Her eyes were filled with furry. Pinkie whimpered again.
"Um.. Ah think we should try it, for good measures" Applejack said.
"Um..... ok" Fluttershy muttered.
"Ok, everypony stand up and gather in a circle" Everypony in the room got up and did just that.
"Um...ok....now, I guess you all think of the times you showed the trait of your element and I will cast a spell that will stop any magical spell from getting out of this room. Oh! It also stops sounds from coming out. The spell should keep whatever will happen from getting to the rest of the city" Everypony nodded and went to thinking while I cast the spell. Then I began to think of the times when I was great at magic.
After a little bit of thinking, everypony in the room started to get lifted into the air. I opened a eye just in time to see a stripe of color come from everypony's chest and going to the middle of the circle. The color was the same as their coat. All the color in the middle came together and created a beautiful rainbow sphere. I looked over at Rarity, who was mouthing the word 'IDEA!'. I look back at the sphere to see that it is much smaller than it was a couple seconds ago. Before I could think more of this, a purple light shoots from the rainbow sphere and goes directly towards my horn and starts to drain some of my magic.
"AHHHH!!!!!!!!" I hear from everypony in the room. With the strength that I could muster, I turn my head toward Rarity who was having the same exact thing happen to her just with a white light. I then turn toward Rainbow and Fluttershy just in time to see a Pegasus feather being pulled from their wings to the center along with what I am assuming is pegasi magic from their chests by a blue and yellow beam. Then, I turn to Applejack and Pinkie who are having what looks like Earth pony magic taken from their chests by a orange and pink beam. The pain went one for what felt like hours until the pain suddenly stopped. I fell to the floor with a thud and everything went dark.
"Ah'll try shak'n her" somepony that sounded a lot like Applejack started to shake me.
"Uh.. What happened?" I asked.
"Oh! That's what Rainbow said when she woke up! and Fluttershy and Applejack and Ra..." Rainbow's hoof was in Pinkie's mouth before she could finish.
"Are you alright darling?" Rarity asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine" I replied while getting up. Once I got up though, I noticed something different about everypony.
"Why are you guys wearing necklaces?" I asked.
"I dunno. It was on me when I woke up! but why are you wearing a crown?" Pinkie asked, now putting on her detective hat.
"A crown? I'm not wearing a..." I touched my hoof to my head to find a crown sitting their. I bought it off with my magic. It was a gold crown, with a magenta 6 pointed star in the middle and under it, their was all 5 faction symbols, each one glowing its respective color. On the back, it had my name engraved in it.
"Wow" was all I could say. I look up to see everypony inspecting their necklace. I look over at Applejack; her neckleace was an orange apple with a green stem. Fluttershy's looks to be a pink butterfly. I look over at Pinkie who is bouncing around, her necklace was a blue ballon, I think. Rarity's looks like a purple diamond, and Rainbow's is a red lightning bolt.
"This....is....so...Cool!!" Rainbow said
"Yipee! A neckleace!" Pinkie said while jumping around the room.
"Um... Twilight? Do you know how we got these things or what they do?" Fluttershy asked.
"Well, I think they came from that all of light that was created earlier..." I was interrupted by Pinkie saying
"Oh ya! That really hurt! It took magic from all of us! Along with a Pegasus feather from Rainbow and Fluttershy!" Pinkie said with a grin.
"How did you know that? Your eyes were closed the whole time. I saw" I said.
"Just a hunch!" Pinkie said with another big grin. We all rolled our eyes. After all, Pinkie was just being Pinkie.
"Yeah, that blue light hurt a lot, right Flutters?" Rainbow asked Fluttershy. She just gave a slow nod but said,
"Yes, it did hurt but I thought the light was yellow"
"The light was the same color as your coat" I said, just now putting the pieces together. "Anyways, I don't know what they do for sure and I also don't know why all 5 faction symbols are on it"
"So, what are we supposed to do now?" Rainbow asked. "I like my necklace and all, but it will probably be used against me in Dauntless training". Just then, Rainbow's necklace began to glow a bright red as she was lifted into the sky by some sort of magic. Then, a colts voice could be heard coming from nowhere. 'Dauntless' It said. What seemed to be a orange ball of magic engulfed her and disappeared from our view.
"RAINBOW DASH!" We all shouted and ran up to the glowing ball but before we could get there, the ball expanded until it was twice it's size then disappeared. Once all the magic was gone I looked over at Rainbow, but her necklace was gone, but before I could think more about it I noticed the necklace that was just on her neck on her front right hoof but as a tattoo! I guess Rainbow noticed it to because she said
"AWESOME!!!" At the top of her lungs.
"Oh! Me next! Me next!" Pinkie said while tapping at her necklace. I looked back at everypony else in the room, who just stood in amassment.
"So, Rainbow? What's different about your new tattoo compared to your necklace? It may be useful later" and by useful I mean for studies.
"Hmm?" Rainbow said. I guess she was to busy looking at her new necklace to listen. "Oh, well. It now only has the Dauntless symbol instead of all 5...um...It has a picture of a rainbow lightning bolt coming out of a cloud....and that pretty much it" She said.
"Ok, so the necklaces/crown probably change into something that the faction that you are going to chose would wear. I guess as a discuses. If our "items" are camouflaging then that must mean that it is dangerous to be an "Element of Harmony" so we should do everything we can to make sure that no pony and I mean no pony but us knows about this. Got that?" I say in the most serious tone that I could muster. Everypony just nods. I turn towards Rainbow, "Rainbow's necklace turned into a tattoo because she is planning on choosing Dauntless tomorrow. Is that right Rainbow?"
"Yep" she replied.
"So that explains the faction symbols" I said under my breath.
"Ok, so I think it would be best if we decided on what faction we are going to choose tomorrow tonight so this flash-y thing-y doesn't occur in front of everypony tomorrow. Like I said, it is really important that we keep this a secret" I said. Everypony nodded in return except for Rainbow who went back to looking at her new tattoo. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ok! Has everypony finished deciding?" I ask.
"Ah narrowed mah choices down Twi, but ah need help decidin" Applejack said.
"So do I, this decision is just to hard!" Rarity whined while gaining an eye-roll from Applejack.
"I need help too!" Pinkie chimed in. "I want to chose Amity so I can be happy all the time but I could also be happy in Dauntless 'cause they do fun things too but I don't want to leave my fam..." Pinkie was cut off by Rainbow's hoof in her mouth.
"I'll help Pinkie and Flutters" Rainbow said. "You can help Rarity and Applejack". I nodded my head and we all got into our groups.
"So, uh what factions are you trying to choose between Applejack?" I ask.
"Well, ah was trying to decide between mah home faction, Amity and Candor 'cause ah am the Element of Honesty and all" Applejack finished.
"Ok, and how about you Rarity?" I asked, turning my head toward Rarity.
"Oh, well I was thinking Candor, Abnegation, and Amity" Rarity answered. "How about you Twilight?"
"Well..." I stopped. I haven't thought about this. Erudite, Dauntless, Abnegation, Amity, or Candor? Which one do I belong in? "Probably Erudite because it's were my family is and I love to learn things" Then, a bright blue flash engulfed me, the mysterious voice that said 'Dauntless' minutes before now said 'Erudite'. I could feel a weight being pulled from the top of my head and something reappear on top of my muzzle. Then the blue light disappeared and I could see Applejack's and Rarity's worried faces except I was looking through something. Glasses
My crown had turned into glasses for Erudite!
"Oh my darling, those are the most beautiful glasses I have ever seen!" squealed Rarity. I took the glasses off with my magic and started to examine them. They were purple and had a magenta star with 5 white stars surrounding it, and on the other side, it had the Erudite faction symbol glowing.
"Wow" Is all I could say. This was incredible! I looked back at the Erudite faction symbol and see that it's elevated like a button. Curious, I press the button and the light surrounds me but this time, it's a magenta light. "Magic" I hear the voice say again. When the light disappears, I have my crown back on my head. "Erudite" I say and a few seconds later, I have my glasses back. I take them off again and notice the magenta star with five white starts is elevated. I press the magenta star and I hear, "Welcome Twilight Sparkle. what would you like to do?" I put the glasses back on while Rarity and Applejack just sit their in amassment, again. When I put them on, their are bars that pop on my glasses like a screen. One says 'Teleport' and another says 'Chat' but for some reason, their are a lot of blank bars. I'll have to explore that later. I click 'Teleport' with my magic and another screen pops up with the mane of al my friends, but Rainbows name has a Dauntless symbol next to her name. Then I notice that at the end of all the bars, their is a picture of the abnegation symbol and the distance between me at them, I am assuming. I wonder if Rainbow's necklace -now- tattoo can do it to? I'll have to ask her later. Tonight was going to be a long night.
"Ok, has everypony chose their faction?" I ask. We all finished in our groups and are all standing in a circle again. Everypony nods at the saying of this.
"Now, their is something that I found out about our jewelry that I want to share with you, but I think we would all like to know what faction everypony chose". Again, everypony nods.
"Ok, I'll go first" I step forward into the middle of the circle and take a deep breath. "The faction that I chose is Erudite and my crown turned into purple glasses for me to wear at all times in Erudite". I step back and motion the pony next to me, Applejack to go to the middle.
"The faction that ah chose is Candor and my necklace turned into a smaller necklace that is a back and white apple". She steps back to the rim of the circle as Fluttershy steps out next.
"Um... The faction that I chose is Abnegation...um... and my necklace turned into a pink butterfly clip". As Fluttershy stepped back, I noticed that Rainbow had a small frown on her face. Fluttershy was Rainbow's best friend in Dauntless. She will definitely be happy when I tell her about her tattoo. Pinkie hops up into the middle and says,
"The faction I chose is Amity! My necklace turned into a blue & yellow charm bracelet!" Pinkie hopped back to the edge just as Rarity walked out.
"The faction I chose is Amity and my necklace as well, turned into a beautiful! purple and white charm bracelet!" Rarity said while admiring her charm bracelet the whole walk back to the circle. Next was Rainbow's turn but she said,
"You guys already know what faction I chose and what my necklace turned into sooo.. back to Twilight!" Rainbow points one of her hoof toward me and everypony's eyes follow.
"Umm.....ok" I start. "It's good that we have somepony going to each faction. It would be better to keep an eye on things, at least that is what I think the Abnegation lady was trying to get at. Um.. now everypony take off your former jewelry and hold it in your hoof" Everypony did just that, except Rarity held it with her magic.
"Ok. Now, on your items, their should be a picture of the faction that you choose. That picture is actually a button and when you press it, your necklace will appear again and your item will disappear" I pause to make sure everypony is following me. "Their should also be a picture of some sort. For example, my picture is a 6-pointed magenta star with 5 mini 6-pointed white stars behind it. I think we should tell everybody are 'image'. I feel like we may be seeing them again". Everypony nodded and like last time, Applejack went next and said,
"Mah image is 3 red apples pointed in different directions". She stepped back, letting Fluttershy go,
"Um, mine is 3 pink butterflies in different directions" Pinkie jumped into the center before Fluttershy could move back, making her jump up to the ceiling, again. Rainbow groaned and flew up to get Fluttershy down while Pinkie spoke.
"My image is a yellow balloon with a blue string and 2 blue balloons with yellow strings on either side!" Pinkie hoped back to the edge and Rarity stepped up, still admiring he new bracelet.
"Mine is 3 beautiful blue diamonds!" Rarity squealed in delight. As soon as she got back to the rim of the circle, Rainbow flew out to the middle and said,
"Mine is a rainbow lightning bolt coming out of a cloud" and zoomed back to the edge.
"Ok, now that we know that. I want you to all click that image. It should be a button" I say. Everypony pressed their buttons and as soon as they did,
"WOW!" filled the room.
"I'm assuming you all heard a voice that says 'Welcome your name' right?" Everypony nodded except Pinkie who said,
"No, mine said 'Welcome Pinkie pie' not 'Welcome your name' silly!" Pinkie gained eye rolls from everypony in the room of course, except Fluttershy who wasn't hiding behind her hair anymore.
"Anyways, you all see bars on your screens correct?" Everypony nodded.
"Two of my bars say 'teleport' and 'chat', the others are blank for some reason, but we can explore that later. I think we should start with chat and go from there. We don't know what could happen so its best to be safe". A nod came from everypony again except Rainbow, who just groaned.
"Everypony, click the 'chat' bar. Rarity, you can use your magic to click the bars if you want too". Rarity gave a nod and clicked the bar with the others.
"Now you should be a menu with more bars that have everypony's name on them. Correct?" Again, a nod came from everypony.
"The faction symbol that is right next to their name is what faction they chose and the faction symbol at the end of the bar is what faction they are standing in at that moment. The number is how far away they are". Everypony nodded again. I turned to Pinkie,
"Pinkie?"
"Yes?" She responded with a smile. don't understand how she is abnegation.
"Can you go stand over their at the other end of the room?"
"Oki doki loki!" Pinkie jumped her way over to the end of the room.
"I am going to try to chat with you through the chat button, Ok?"
"Ok!" With my magic, I pressed Pinkie's bar with my magic, but two more bars popped up. One said 'face chat' and another said 'text'. I click face chat, curious to what it was. I waited a little bit until Pinkie's face popped up on my screen.
"Gahh!" I screamed and jumped back.
"Why are you scared Twilight? It's only me! Pinkie!" I heard Pinkie say through the chat and in real life.
"I think the face chat works better when we are farther apart from each other. It's gets confusing when I can hear you through the chat and in real life."
"Hey Twilight!" Rainbow said as her face appeared on my screen along with everypony else.
"Pinkie! What did you do?" I yelled to Pinkie.
"I added everypony into the call!" Pinkie smiled.
"Well can you turn it off? It's hurting my ears and head" I replied in a much softer tone now.
"You know Twilight, you can just leave the call if you don't want to be in it" Pinkie replied.
"And how exactly do I do that?" I reply.
"Oh silly, you just press the big red 'x' in the corner!" Pinkie smiles as she replied. I look up to the corners and sure enough, there is a big red x. I click it and everypony's head disappears and I return to the chat menu. I click the magenta star again and my glasses turn off.
'Goodbye' the voice said.
"Girls?" Everypony turned their head toward me.
"We should only use these 'abilities' in private until further notice. We'll have to figure out some things along the way about these elements. Nopony should know about this or what happened here tonight. If you found something out then 'text' me. Only face chat after you have texted that pony to make sure its ok. We don't know what the other person might be doing. It is also best that we only chat at night and in secret. We don't know who could be watching so that means stay away from security cameras" Everypony nodded except for Rainbow.
"I don't think that anypony here should text me during the day or night without me texting them first. I have heard rumors that during Dauntless training, they get you up in the middle of the night and make you play a game or something" Rainbow said firmly.
"Why RD? Are you afraid?" Applejack teased.
"NO! I've just heard stories about people disappearing or dying without saying a word and pony's have traced them back to their text scores being manually entered!" Rainbow yelled.
"So you are afraid" Applejack said under her breath, but just loud enough for Rainbow to hear.
"Ok, Applejack. Be my guest and go to Dauntless, get discovered and get killed! Dauntless is the hardest faction to get into and I am NOT GOING TO FAIL INDENTATION JUST BECAUSE I'M THE STUPID ELEMENT OF LOYALTY!!!" Rainbow yelled at the top of her lungs. Clearly she was angry. Note to self: Never upset a Dauntless.
"ENOUGH!!!" I turn to see Fluttershy flying in the air right above us, coming down to the ground and walking toward Rainbow and Applejack.
"Why are you guys fighting!!!?" Fluttershy said, now at a calmer tone. "You guys are friends, there is no reason to fight!" Both Rainbow and Applejack hung their heads in shame. I just stared in aw. I didn't realize how brave Fluttershy was, or how loud she could be. Clearly everypony else was amazed by this because their jaws were on the ground.
After a few minutes of silence I say,
"I think we should explore these items a little bit more before we go to bed. It's probably best that we learn how they work now so we don't mess something up in the future. Oh and I'll restore the magic shield again, it seems to be breaking after the screaming"
"You just want to play with your glasses don't ya Twi?" Applejack said with a sneer on her face.
"Very much yes!" I said in delight while taking off my glasses and pressing random buttons. I think I gained some eye rolls from that but I don't care.
As we explored our 'items', we found 2 new bars pop up. One was a scanner. Apparently, the scanner will tell you what their amplitude results are. It will also tell you if somepony is Divergent. The other one that we found was called 'camouflage'. It will change you into another factions clothes along with changing your item into that factions thing. Pinkie had a lot of fun with that.
Once we all get into bed, I have trouble sleeping. What would happen now that I know that I'm the Element of Magic? What would happen if I get caught? Would they kill me like Rainbow said? Now that I think about it, Rainbow may be right. I have noticed some people form Erudite disappear. I'll have to tell the others in the morning, but right now I need to get some sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.
"Twilight! Twilight" Rainbow screamed into my ear, "Wake UP!"
"Gah!" I woke up to see Rainbow hovering right in my face. "What?!" I ask, I little bit annoyed. No, correction, a lot bit annoyed. the sun isn't even over the horizon yet.
"We need you to teleport us back to our factions!" Rainbow said, this time a lot quieter.
"Why? Don't you want to walk to the Choosing Ceremony together?" I ask again, this time with sadness.
"It's not that ah don't want to Twi. It's just that we want to see our family's one last time before the ceremony". Everypony nodded in agreement.
"Well, can't you just use your elements?" I ask.
"We tried that darling, but they only allow you to teleport to one of us" Rarity answered.
"Ok, everypony get ready. I'm tired so this may be a bumpy ride!" In a bright light, everypony and their stuff appeared back in their home faction, in their living quarters, sound asleep.
The next morning, I was up early. I put on the best blue dress I could find. The one Rarity made for me. Rarity said it didn't turn out as she hoped. She didn't have the right materials for making a dress but to sew this good by hoof? Rarity had some serious talent. I brushed out my mane and coat, put on my purple glasses and went downstairs for some breakfast. My mom and dad were already up making breakfast.
"Good morning!" I say as I make my way over to the table.
"Hi Honey! How was your day yesterday? I didn't see you come in last night and you didn't come to dinner. Did you have another big study session?"
"Um.. Yes!" I lied. "I ..uh.. was fascinated by the..uh.... faction history! ya, so I looked at a few books and t happened again!" I smiled a big grin. I'm glad my mom or dad didn't come from Candor, otherwise I would be busted. My mom levitated breakfast over to the table.
"Oh my, Twilight!" I looked up at my mom, terrified as ever. Did I say something that I shouldn't have? Did I accidently press the Erudite symbol? "Where did you get those glasses? Did Rarity make them? She did a great job! I thought she had talent but I didn't know she had this much talent!" My mom exclaimed while levitating my glasses off my face. I was going to resist, but that would cause more trouble.
"Uh.. yeah! Rarity uh... wanted to give us something to remember us by! Uh.. something that we'd never take off! ya" I responded.
"Don't these glasses look wonderful?" My mom asked my dad as she levitated my glasses over to him. My dad looked up from his tablet, his eyes widened.
"Wow! Rarity really out did herself this time! but I must ask, why is their a magenta star and why s it elevated?" I was just about to answer when my dad pressed the button with his magic. I closed my eyes, waiting for a scream or something, but it never came. I opened my eyes. 'Welcome Twilight Sparkle' I heard. I looked over at my parents. The screen with the bars on it popped up, but they weren't looking at it, almost like it.........wasn't...there. That's weird. All my friends could see the screen and I could see them too. Maybe it has something t do with being an Element of Harmony. I'll have to check once I get my glasses back.
"Twilight, are you alright?" I blinked a few times and looked up. My mom was levitating my glasses in front of me, looking confused.
"Hm? Oh, yes. I was just.... thinking a little bit. heh heh" I replied. I'm really bad at lying. Rainbow tried to teach us, but it was no use. Rainbow was the best liar out of all of us but even she was bad. I guess it's good that she is going back to Dauntless. If what she said was true, she is going to need to lie a lot. None of us were very good at it, and Applejack was the worst at it. I guess that explains she being the Element of Honesty, sorta. How are we going to lie about this when we are all bad liars? Luckily, my mom and dad weren't looking at me so they couldn't see the big goofy grin that was on my face.
I slid the glasses back on my face with my magic. I pressed the magenta star. 'Welcome Twilight Sparkle' I heard. I pressed the scan button and turned toward my mom, who was siting down now. I walked over toward the table and sat down. it would be a little weird if I was standing up. 'Scanning Complete' the voice said. 'Erudite' Ok. This is good to know. I turn toward my dad. I just hope they don't notice me. It would be hard to explain this. I already ran out of ideas for excuses! 'Scanning complete: Erudite'. Ok, so maybe if you aren't an Element of Harmony, then you can't see the screen. I'll have to tell the others before the ceremony.
