---Opposites Attract---

In a small town in Equestria called Ponyville, there sits an apple farm by the name of Sweet Apple Acres. There, the Apple Family, that lives in Ponyville that is, harvests the apples and is well know through their signature products. For this story, reader, we will be focusing on the Element of Honesty, Applejack. She woke up and stretched her aching limbs. She blinked her eyes a few times before finally got up and properly stretched. A knock resounded through her room. "Ah'm comin'!" she called out to the pony behind the door. After one last stretch, she walked over to her door and opened it. The pony who stood on the other side was one of her best friends, Rarity, the Element of Generosity. "If you didn't sleep so much," Rarity chided, "Then we wouldn't be so tight on time, darling."

"Heh..." Applejack chuckled while rubbing the back of her head and smiling weakly, "Sorry 'bout that."

"Well," Rarity continued, "Fix up your hair and we can get going." With that, Rarity walked downstairs while Applejack walked towards her bathroom where her hairbrush sat, untouched. She slipped her hoof through the strap and proceeded to tame her currently unkempt mane. Today was the first day that she'll be going with Rarity on her weekly spa outing. Since Fluttershy is off with Discord doing Faust knows what, Rarity had to improvise. We can use the time to be better acquainted with each other. Rarity's reasoning rang in Applejack's head. But the part that stuck out was the "better acquainted" statement.

Applejack sighed and began brushing her unkempt tail. There was no doubt in her mind. She was falling for the pony that she argues with on a day-to-day basis. From how they eat to how they sleep, they argued. But it was the night of Twilight's first sleepover when she realized this strong liking. But as they say, opposites attract. Applejack wrapped her signature red bands around her mane and tail and grabbed her stetson and proceeded downstairs. When she got down, she saw that Rarity was talking to Applebloom about etiquette. "Now, to tell if a pony did NOT like your meal," Rarity taught, "You'll see the knife along the middle with the ends of the fork and spoon touching the blade." Rarity arranged the silverware like she said. Applebloom nodded and arranged the ware in front of her like Rarity instructed.

"Y'all almost done?" Applejack asked as she stood at the door.

"In fact, we are!" Rarity answered.

"See ya later, sis!" Applebloom called out as Applejack and Rarity left the house.

After a quick breakfast, they walked through town to the Lotus Spa. Once they entered, the owners, who actually worked there believe it or not, Aloe and Lotus, brought the pair to the main room. "So," Rarity began, "How's Big Mac doing in Canterlot?"

"Well," Applejack vibrated as Aloe beat on her back, "Since he's been datin' that Fleur-"

"He's dating THE Fleur de Lis????" Rarity asked with wide eyes as Lotus began her manicure, "What happened to her and Fancy??"

"Fleur found him cheatin' with Coco." Applejack replied.

"Oh my Celestia." Rarity gasped, "She must've been so broken about it?"

"From what Mac wrote, he explained that she yelled so much at him that her throat was sore." Applejack sighed, "Married for almost what, twenty-five years?"

"Twenty-NINE, dear." Rarity corrected, "And how did you know that?"

"Mac sent me a magazine explaining more about their break-up." Applejack replied. They went on and on about how their family was doing. After entering the sauna, Applejack decided to get a little more........personal.

"So, Rarity," Applejack began and she laid herself on a seat, "How're you doin'?"

"Whatever do you mean by that?" Rarity asked with an elevated eyebrow.

"Like with business and stuff like that." Applejack replied.

"Well," Rarity chuckled, "Who are you and what have you done with Applejack?"

"What now?"

"I've never seen you so interested with high-society ponies like me." she answered. "No offence."

"None taken." Applejack accepted with apology with a hoof wave.

"But it's been slow." Rarity sighed. "You can say that it's just like going through a dense fog, not a lot of ponies have been requesting my hoof-work. Aside from the occasional button that needs sewing or a sleeve torn in a jacket." Rarity paused and sighed again. "I just need somepony like Sapphire shores or Hoity Toity to request another line." Applejack's heart sank as she saw her friend's troubled and sad face.

They sat in a brief but deafening silence. The noise that pierced the silence was a buzzer to signal that they were about to spend too much time in the steam-filled room. They walked out of it and sank into the hot tub and switched to a different subject. "How's Applebloom with Rumble?" Rarity wondered.

"They're alright." Applejack replied as she sank a little deeper into the water. "But truth be told, Ah imagined Rumble datin' Scootaloo."

"Same here." Rarity admitted. "And do you know who Sweetie Belle is going out with?"

"Not a clue." Applejack replied.

"Spike." Rarity answered. Applejack's eye shot open and she rose from that water. "No way!"

"Totally!" she nodded. "It was quite a surprise to me as well! We all know how much of a crush he had on me."

"Darned tootin'!" Applejack chuckled. The chuckled turned into a laugh and infected Rarity as they went on and on about all of the things Spike did to please Rarity. After they finished their spa outing, Applejack wanted to tell her something that was bugging her like a flea on a dog.

Her opportunity came when a sudden rainfall came down and they rushed into Rarity's Carousel Boutique. After toweling off, Rarity started a fire in her fireplace and sat. "Why do the pegasi insist on ruining such perfect days?" Rarity groaned.

"Ah don't know, sugar cube." Applejack admitted as she hung her stetson on the rack.

"I mean," Rarity ranted, "Couldn't they have pushed it back a day or two?" Rarity sighed as Applejack sat next to her by the fire. they sat in a, this time, longer and more deafening silence. Applejack looked away and inched closer. Since Rarity was now reading a book, probably a romance, Applejack decided to do the most cliche thing possible. After getting to about a centimeter from Rarity's body, Applejack bit her lip slightly. She started to think of the possible outcomes and with each one, the nervousness escalated. Then, she decided to wing it. "Rarity." Applejack began.

"What is it, darling?" Rarity asked, not looking up from the book.

"Ah need to admit somethin'." she continued.

"Yeah?" Rarity questioned, this time looking at her. The nervousness was too much for Applejack to handle. Without another thought, she rushed out into the rain.

Applejack slouched on a drenched park bench as the rain continued to fall around and onto her. The other things that were falling were her tears. She sobbed and shivered. She messed up. She couldn't admit her feelings. After a few more minutes, she felt a hoof drape over her shoulders. Her head jolted upward and met soft blue eyes that belonged to Rarity. Her soft smile warmed Applejack slightly. "What was it that you wanted to say?" Rarity asked kindheartedly. Her answer was not words, but an action. The action was one that made Rarity change from a snow white mare to a maroon like Big Mac. It was a kiss. Applejack's green eyes were shut and squinted. After kindly pushing her away, Rarity sighed. "You got my mane in the way." she chuckled as she pushed the long strain of hair from her face. "Let's try that again." Applejack smiled widely and her tears changed from sadness to joy.

Then they shared another kiss......
