It Begins

On one rather hot summer day in Equestria, Rainbow Dash sat back in her cloud sofa, fanning herself with a Daring Do book (volume 4), eyes fixed on the wall. It was a staring contest, Rainbow vs. the portrait of her and her five friends.

No matter how long she stared, she couldn’t seem to win this endless battle.

“Ugh, I’m so bored!” Rainbow complained. “I just wanna take a nap!”

However, she wasn’t sleepy, and the more she tried to fall asleep, the more she wouldn’t be able to. The worst part of this situation was her air conditioner was busted, and she hadn’t worked up the strength to get Applejack to come ‘whip’ it back into shape.

“Maybe I should go see what Pinkie Pie is up to. Maybe we could go for some pranking again!”

Rainbow Dash set her book down on the table, and took off out the door.

.......................................

Once she left her home, she realized it was a baking oven outside.

“Dang, it’s gotta be 500 degrees out here! Why did the pegasi have to clear all the clouds today?”

After a couple minutes of wondering if she was gonna throw up, Ponyville came into view.

Dash touched down on the sidewalk, and took a good look around. Town seemed to be bustling a little too much for how hot it was outside.

“Doesn’t anypony know at all how hot it is out here?”

She trotted around a bit, seeing how many ponies were active, especially in the shopping district.

“What’s everypony doing in such weather? It’s melting out here!”

“Well of course…”

”GAH!” Dash screamed. “WHO’S THERE?!”

“It’s just me!” Twilight Sparkle replied.

“Oh, okay. You scared m—uh, I mean…caught me off guard.” Rainbow Dash lied.

“Everypony’s so active today because it was the summer sun celebration this morning. Don’t you remember?” Twilight stated.

“(Aw, pony apples. I slept through the celebration!)” Dash thought. “(No wonder it’s so hot outside…)”

“Uhh, of course I remember the celebration! Rockin’ party that was!” Rainbow lied again.

“Right…” Twilight stammered. “Are you looking for somepony?”

“Just Pinkie Pie. I thought we could continue pranking some more.” Rainbow replied. Twilight chuckled.

“Interesting. You’ll probably find her at Sugarcube Corner. Why don’t you go look?” Twilight suggested.

“Can do! Bye!” Rainbow flew off.

“And she says Pinkie Pie is random…” Twilight muttered, laughing.

.................................

Rainbow took her time, she was in no hurry. She waved to some of the ponies down below.

One of them seemed to be freaking out. She shot them a confused look. The pony seemed to be trying to get her attention.

She was about to yell “what”, when she smashed face-first into a large cliff. She slid to the ground, a pained look on her face.

“That’s the SECOND time I crashed into this cliff!”

Rainbow was not amused. She was still trying to find Pinkie Pie.

She sputtered, then managed to get back off the ground. She clumsily flew to Sugarcube Corner.

.................................

By the time she arrived, she had a noticeable bump on her forehead. It throbbed every time she moved her head too much.

She pushed open the door to Sugarcube Corner, and found Mr. and Mrs. Cake trying to fill an order.

“Hey, dear! What brings you here?” Mrs.Cake politely asked.

“Just trying to find Pinkie Pie. Know where she is?” Rainbow answered.

“She should be upstairs, but don’t keep your hooves crossed, you know how much she likes to go outside.”

“Tell me about it.” Rainbow replied as she trotted upstairs.

There she was, on the floor, playing with Gummy, her pet alligator.

“Hi, Dashie!” Pinkie blurted out, suddenly jumping up and down.

Gummy just flipped over and lied there, belly up. He didn’t seem to care.

“It’s so good to see you! What do you wanna do? Huh huh huh?” Pinkie exclaimed.

“Whoa, settle down, Pinkie. I was just bored, and wondering if we could go pull some more pranks!” Rainbow asked, getting excited.

Pinkie’s expression fell.

“What’s wrong?” Dash asked.

“Oh Dashie, I’d love to, but the Cakes won’t let me. They said it hurt other ponies’ feelings.”

Pinkie’s expression was grim, and her hair was down (which rarely happens!).

“What? But they’re always laughing once we’re done!” Rainbow was disappointed.

“Beats me.” Pinkie replied.

“Oh…well I guess I’ll see you later.”

Dash slowly trotted down the stairs, and out the door.

Rainbow Dash stood outside, her head down, which caused her bump to throb again. She was so bored, and in pain at the moment. Twilight trotted up to her, wearing her saddlebags.

“Hey Rainbow! Man, these shops have more good merchandise than I imagined! Wait, what’s wrong?”

Mumbles from Rainbow Dash.

“And what is on your head?” Twilight poked Rainbow’s bump.

“Ow! Don’t touch! Still hurts…” Rainbow ordered, still grim.

“I can use magic to heal it, if you want.” Twilight offered.

“No. I just don’t care anymore.” Rainbow flew off, depressed.

“Whatever her problem is, it’s definitely not something for her to get her mane in a tangle about.” Twilight muttered to herself.

....................................

As Rainbow flew home, she saw other pegasi flying around, having fun with their friends.

When she reached her doorstep, there was a package on the front porch. She looked at it, and couldn’t find who it was for. What she did see however, was that it was from the Wonderbolts.

Rainbow’s jaw hit the floor.

“OmigoshomigoshomigoshomigoshomiGOSH!!!”

Rainbow grabbed the package and bolted in the house, nearly toppling over all her furniture. She slammed the package down on the table, and tore it open at surprising speed.

Inside was a note saying, “Congratulations! Your skills and bravery has finally showed something to us, and we decided to make it up to you! We give you a warm welcome to the Wonderbolts! -Spitfire (555) 555-5555”.

There was also a neatly folded Wonderbolts uniform.

Rainbow nearly peed the floor. She started dancing around the room, laughing hysterically. She nabbed the phone and dialed the number.

Spitfire answered and said, “This is the Wonderbolts!”

“Hi, this is Rainbow Dash, the one you sent the uniform to! I just wanted to say thank you SO MUCH for this opportunity! I won’t let you down!”

“Wait…Rainbow Dash?” Spitfire replied. “That package was supposed to go to a pegasus named Thunder Flash.”

Rainbow Dash's expression began to fall, taking in the unpromising news.

“Sorry for the inconvenience, I’ll have Derpy Hooves come and intercept the package. Have a nice day!” Spitfire hung up.

Rainbow dropped the phone, keeping the same position. Her eye twitched, and a single tear rolled down her cheek.

Well, that did it. Rainbow flew to her room, slammed the door, flopped on her cloud bed and sobbed. This day had been horrible for her. Missing the Summer Sun Celebration, getting bored, the heat, not getting to hang out with Pinkie Pie, and getting SO CLOSE TO HER DREAM! There was nothing else she would have done right there.

....................................

Derpy flew along happily, trying to find her destination.

“So, I gotta visit the Rainbow’s residence? Wherever could I find that?” Derpy asked herself.

She turned once and saw the huge cloud structure, rainbows pouring out on some sides.

“Think I found it!” Derpy exclaimed.

Derpy arrived a few seconds later and knocked on the door politely. A few minutes passed.

“Hm. Perhaps she’s not home?”

Derpy was about to fly away, when Rainbow Dash answered the door, wearing a bathrobe, her mane messed up.

“Whoa…” Derpy stuttered.

“Yeah, I know. Why are you here?” Rainbow replied, rather glum.

“No, it’s just I didn’t know you owned a bathrobe!” Derpy mused.

“You didn’t answer my question…” Rainbow sounded annoyed.

“Oh yeah! I’m here to take back the package the Wonderbolts accidentally sent you.” Derpy explained.

“Oh, here to steal away more of my hopes and dreams? Be my guest…”

Rainbow was starting to heat up.

“No, nothing like that. I just need the package.” Derpy happily answered.

“Well you can’t have it! It showed up on MY doorstep for a reason!” Rainbow raised her voice.

Derpy started to cringe.

“Can I just…get my package? Please?”

“Or what?!” Rainbow angrily replied.

“Or I’ll lose my job…” Derpy almost whispered in fear.

“YOU THINK YOUR DOPEY JOB IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MY LIFE?!?!?!” Rainbow screamed.

Some of the other pegasi turned to see what was going on.

“GET AWAY FROM ME! YOU CAN’T HAVE MY PACKAGE! STAY OUT OF MY LIFE!”

The other pegasi stared as Derpy flew off, crying. They shot Rainbow extremely dirty looks.

“What are YOU looking at?!”

Rainbow stormed inside, anger fading, continuing to feel sorry for herself. She sat on her cloud sofa, and began to think.

...................................

Twilight was at her library, enjoying some of the cool stuff she bought. She heard something out the window.

“What in Celestia’s name?”

She looked out the window, and found Derpy, the mailpony, streaking across the sky, crying her eyes out.

“It doesn’t take a detective to know who caused THAT.”

Twilight marched out of her library, and toward Rainbow Dash’s house.

....................................

“Why can’t I sleep? I just want today to end and tomorrow to begin!” Rainbow complained, trying to nap on her cloud sofa. She heard a faint call from the ground.

“Gee, I wonder who that could be.”

Rainbow lazily dragged herself off the sofa with a thud on the floor.

“That was uncalled for…” Rainbow muttered.

Twilight looked up and saw Rainbow trudge out onto her porch and look down. She turned around, and walked back inside.

“Well THAT was rude.” Twilight thought out loud. “Rainbow Dash! Can we talk?” she called to up to Rainbow.

After a long two minutes, Rainbow Dash walked outside, and softly flew down to her. She touched down, then plopped onto the grass.

“What’s on your mind?” Rainbow impatiently asked.

“What’s going on today? You’re in a terrible mood. And you scared off Derpy!” Twilight immediately got to the point. “Today’s actually supposed to be a good day! First of all, it was the Summer Sun Celebration, and—“

“I didn’t actually get to see the celebration.” Rainbow interrupted. “I…I slept through it.”

“Oh….well—“

“And my air conditioner is busted, and it’s getting really hot in my home.”

“Well, we can—“

“And I wasn’t able to hang out with Pinkie Pie.”

“Well that’s not really—“

“AND when I got home, I saw an invitation to the Wonderbolts, which actually wasn’t supposed to be for me!”

“WILL YOU LET ME TALK?!?!” Twilight suddenly bursted out. This seemed to scare Rainbow Dash, and she started crying again. Twilight realized what she had done.

“Hey, hey, I’m sorry. You just seem to be having a bad day.”

Rainbow stared up at her, her face still damp, her bump throbbing so bad, you could practically hear it.

“Seriously, you’re a pegasus, the best one ever at that. You were last year’s Best Young Flier, you can perform Sonic Rainbooms with your eyes closed, and you look incredibly unique. Seriously, how many other ponies have a mane and tail with SIX different colors? And best of all, everypony wants to be your friend. Heck, a stallion asked me a couple weeks ago if you were single! I would kill for that to happen! …I don’t think you’re used to having bad days like this one.”

Twilight finally finished her speech.

Rainbow Dash stared up at her, fascinated. Suddenly, a smile spread across her face, and she asked, “Was the stallion hot?”

“You’re missing the point! You have a great life that many other ponies wish they could have. You have no reason to complain.” Twilight stated.

“…..You really think so?”

“I KNOW so.” Twilight replied.

Rainbow jumped up and enveloped her in a huge hug. “Thanks.”

“Don’t thank me, I didn’t do anything!” Twilight chuckled. “But seriously, where did that bump come from?” Twilight asked curiously.

It took Rainbow a minute to answer.

“A mountain…” she stuttered out. Twilight laughed, and Rainbow joined in.

“Now I gotta go fetch Derpy after what happened!”

Rainbow waved goodbye to Twilight, but then stopped and looked back at her.

“Oh, Twilight?”

“Yeah?”

“Seriously, was that stallion hot?” Rainbow asked.

Twilight sighed.

“Yes, the stallion was pretty good-looking. Could you go now?”

“AWESOME! Okay bye!” Rainbow flew off happily.

....................................

Rainbow was streaking by over Ponyville, but had no idea where she would find Derpy. She could be anywhere, and Rainbow didn’t know where she lived.

About five minutes into her flight, two stallion pegasi flew up to her…wearing police badges.

“Are you Miss Rainbow Dash?” one of them asked in their low, stallion voices. Rainbow was pretty shaken up.

“Y…Y…Yes…”

“Please come with us.”

The two sheriff ponies escorted her to the town police station, where the chief of police awaited her.

“Miss Rainbow Dash?”

“P…Please. J…Just call me Rainbow Dash…” Rainbow managed to choke out. She was shaking badly.

“I have been informed by a derp-eyed source that you stole something, a package to be precise.”

“I didn’t steal that package! It accidentally showed up on my doorstep!” Rainbow almost yelled, because she was incredibly nervous.

“Yes, but you refused to return it. That qualifies as stealing.”

Rainbow Dash gulped. Her life was on the line right now, a criminal life in prison…or on the moon! She could get banished!

“Trial starts in 2 days. You better get a good lawyer.”

“WAIT! I can return it right now! I’ll be right back!” Rainbow ran outside.

When she got outside, the sun was setting. She turned the corner, bent over and threw up. This caused her bump to throb SO badly, she threw up again.

“I gotta (burp) get that package!”

....................................

She flew as fast as her wings could carry her, so fast she nearly did another Sonic Rainboom.

Like a bullet, she whizzed into her house, now hotter than it was outside. She went straight to the table, where she had left her package.

Once she found it wasn’t there, she had a mass panic attack, and threw up again, soaking the floor. She went for the phone to call Spitfire and ask where it was, when she found that missing, too.

She shrieked, and searched her house to find everything gone. This time Rainbow Dash literally did pee the floor, soaking it further. She had been robbed!

There was a knock on the door, and Rainbow instantly felt light-headed. She fainted right there on the soaked floor.

Twilight (using a cloud-walking spell) burst in, and found Rainbow Dash unconscious on the wet floor. She whipped out her cell phone, and dialed 911.

....................................

When Rainbow Dash woke up, she didn’t know where she was, and nearly fainted again.

A nurse pony trotted in, and turned and said something to somepony else in the room.

Twilight emerged, smiling down at her.

“Great! You’re awake! I was so worried…” Twilight said, relieved. “I cleaned up the mess on your floor once the ambulance picked you up. Interesting smell, that was. What happened?”

“I…I…” Rainbow was still trying to recover her voice. “I was robbed.”

Twilight was surprised. “Robbed?”

“Y…Yes. Everything was gone.”

“What happened, anyway?”

“Well, soon after I left last night, the police caught up with me. They said I stole a package, the one still at my house from earlier. They said I would have to enroll in trial, but I said I could recover the package, and ran outside. I flew to my house to get it. But when I got there, the package was gone. I had a huge panic attack and threw up on the floor, so I ran to the phone to call Spitfire. The phone was gone too. That’s when I freaked out even more, and searched my house to find nothing there. I accidentally peed the floor, and……………I don’t remember any more.”

Twilight stared at her in shock.

“Where am I, anyway?” Rainbow asked.

“You’re at the Ponyville Hospital. They rushed you here as soon as you fainted. Strangely, you’re in the same bed, in the same room as last time.”

Rainbow looked around. “Do you have my Daring Do book?” Rainbow asked, hopefully.

“I do! Right here!” Twilight pulled Rainbow’s Daring Do Volume 4 book out of her saddlebag with her magic. “It was the only thing left in your home after the robbery!” Twilight happily stated.

“Aw, THANK YOU. It’s too bad nopony else is here to keep me company, could you go get hurt so you can join me?” Rainbow joked. They both laughed.

“It’s so weird…even the rainbow ponds outside your house were completely dried up, they were also stolen. All the furniture, everything you could think of except the foundation was gone. All except your Daring Do book.” Twilight wondered.

“Is my portrait of the six of us embracing gone, too?”

“Yes, I’m sorry to say it was.” Twilight answered.

“Aw, dang it! That was really valuable to me!” Rainbow looked depressed over it.

“Well, we know the robber is a pegasus, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to walk on clouds to walk in my home.” Rainbow deduced.

“Yes, but did you see? They stole EVERYTHING. A pile that big has to be as big as Fluttershy’s cottage. The
robber had to of had an ally, who was probably the pegasus. The robber themself was most likely an earth pony.” Twilight objected.

Even though Rainbow Dash was unconscious for a while, she just realized how tired she became. She was still weak, and all this thinking wasn’t helping.

Rainbow fell asleep right then and there after Twilight stated that. Twilight pulled the covers up around Rainbow, then walked out of the hospital.

Rainbow lied in her bed in the hospital, reading her Daring Do book, while the room was silent all around her. She liked it, but in some way, hated it as well.

Daring Do was just about to enter an ancient ruin in her book, when Rainbow Dash heard loud commotion coming from down the hall. It got dramatically louder, then faded again as it passed by her room. One of the doctors walked in after it was silent again.

“Well good morning, Miss Dash. Did you sleep well?” the doctor asked politely.

“Sorta. My bump still hurts quite badly, and the lightning didn’t help at all.” Rainbow replied.

It was terrible outside. The pegasi were scheduled to bring a freak thunderstorm for the next two days, and it was hard to sleep for Rainbow.

“Ah, afraid of lightning, are we?” the doctor mused.

“NO! It’s just loud…..that’s all.” Rainbow knew deep down that lightning did freak her out a bit. Which is weird, considering she’s a pegasus.

“What was all that in the hall just a moment ago?” Rainbow asked.

“Just had to take a poor unicorn to the O.R. Celestia knows why, she looks fine to me.” The doctor answered. “I came in here to say you’re good to go! You can check out anytime you’re ready.” the doctor announced.

“Aw, thank you! I can’t wait to get back home!” Rainbow was pleased.

“Yeah…about that, I have some news for you. I’ve been informed by a derp-eyed source that your house has been bombed…by a terrorist.” the doctor informed.

“(Jeez, what is up with Derpy letting everypony know what’s going on all the time?)” Rainbow muttered.

“What was that?”

“Oh, nothing. I just didn’t know terrorists exist in Equestria! Are you saying my house is…gone?”

“Yes, I’m afraid it is. I’m so sorry.” the doctor apologized.

“Naw, it’s fine. I’ll see if I can go live with Fluttershy for the time being.” Rainbow Dash left to go check out.

....................................

Rainbow Dash peeked outside into the raging elements of the thunderstorm from the lobby.

“My Celestia, they’re supposed to bring a thunderstorm, not a tornado!”

Rainbow Dash took a couple steps outside, and nearly got blown off her feet. She pressed on for Fluttershy’s, but didn’t get very far. About ten steps from the hospital and she got struck by lightning.

She collapsed to the ground and convulsed for a few seconds, then shot back to her hooves. The lightning hit her spinal cord, and she had more energy than if she had drank sixty bottles of apple cider. She rose into the air and shot toward the Everfree Forest.

…………………….......

Fluttershy finished feeding her pet rabbit, Angel.

“There you go, little guy. Now don’t you go running off again, or Mama will get worried. It’s nasty outside.” Fluttershy cooed in her sweet quiet voice.

Her chickens were situated in their coop, and every other creature she had were cuddled up in their homes.

She was just starting to walk upstairs to her bedroom when there was a crash on the door. Fluttershy squealed and hid under her couch, not realizing how flexible she was.

She poked her head out from underneath to find Rainbow Dash standing outside her front door, frantically ringing the doorbell. She tiptoed over to the door and opened it, greeting Rainbow like the polite pony she was.

“Hey Fluttershy what’s up can I stay here for a while my house got destroyed can I can I thank you!”

Rainbow Dash whizzed over to the couch and sat down, forgetting how wet she was from the rain. She just couldn’t keep still, she moved in place while her wings were flapping like crazy.

“Gee, what happened to you?” Fluttershy asked, not caring how wet her sofa was getting.

“I was on my way here from the hospital and got struck by lightning which hit my back and all of a sudden I got hyper also my house was destroyed so—“

“Could I interrupt? Um…it’s great that you’re here, but could you calm down? If…if that’s okay…” Fluttershy stammered.

Rainbow was still hyperventilating.

“Shh…just breath…in and out. In and out.” Fluttershy whispered, loud enough for Rainbow to hear. After about 10 minutes of trying to calm Rainbow down, Fluttershy was finally able to talk to her.

“Alright Rainbow Dash. What happened?” Fluttershy asked.

Rainbow Dash hesitated.

“Do you want the whole story?”

“Yes, I do, but first…” Fluttershy went to the kitchen to fetch Rainbow some hot chocolate, because she was still shivering. When she returned, Rainbow began her story, all the way from yesterday afternoon, when she was bored just after lunch.

………………............

20 minutes later, Rainbow finished both her story and her hot chocolate. Fluttershy was both impressed and concerned with Rainbow’s bad luck streak.

“Wow…..I’m so sorry. Especially the Wonderbolts package. That must’ve stung.” Fluttershy sat next to Rainbow on the sofa. “Do you maybe…know how this happened?” she asked.

“I dunno. But I do know it started early yesterday afternoon.” Rainbow started to get drowsy again from her lightning high.

“Listen Fluttershy, as I told you, my house was destroyed. Can I crash at your place for a while?” Rainbow asked hopefully.

“Gosh, I don’t mind. But watch out for Angel, he’s a bugger around guests. You can rest on the sofa you’re sitting on now.” Fluttershy answered.

“Thank you SO much. I need a roof over my head, considering how bad it is outside.”

Rainbow yawned, thanked Fluttershy, then crashed right there on the sofa.

………………….............

Rainbow dreamed of her house still being intact, and all her stuff back. She also dreamed of that stallion Twilight had mentioned. He was in her home with her, and they were sharing a milkshake.

Suddenly she felt a twitch on her nose. She went to scratch it, and got a face full of shaving cream.

She woke up to find shaving cream all over her face, and on her hoof. She turned angrily to find Angel scamper away, giggling. She ignored it.

“Great, now I’m dreaming of sappy things, like stallions. I’m such an egghead…”

She looked outside. It was still storming, but it was dark. She picked up her head to see it was about 2:30 AM. Fluttershy must be asleep upstairs.

Rainbow got out of bed and tiptoed up the twisted staircase.

When she reached the top, she saw Fluttershy, sleeping peacefully in her bed. Rainbow tiptoed over to her and nuzzled her with her hoof. Fluttershy softly awoke.

“R…Rainbow? What is it?”

“Your bunny is on the loose. He got me with shaving cream! Why do you even own shaving cream?!” Rainbow whispered angrily, trying not to wake anymore animals.

“I told you he’s a bugger around guests. He’ll be like that.” Fluttershy giggled softly.

“I’m not one to complain, but could you keep your raving rabbit in custody? He’s interrupting my egghead dreams.”

Fluttershy sat up and rubbed her head. “Egghead?” she asked.

Rainbow hesitated.

“I had a dream about a stallion.” She muttered.

If Fluttershy’s giggle wasn’t heard earlier, it was now.

“Shh, shh! I don’t want any more of those animals to awake and attack me!” Rainbow sounded desperate.

“Dash, I didn’t know you dreamed of stallions!” she giggled in her cute little voice. Rainbow Dash blushed pretty badly.

“C…could you just…go get your rabbit?” Rainbow asked as she looked down at the floor.

“Okay, I’ll go grab Angel.” Fluttershy replied.

Rainbow Dash heard some rustling from downstairs, the light turn on, and a squeal from Angel. She also heard Fluttershy scolding Angel for being so bad.

Rainbow began to walk down the stairs, when she tripped on the first stair, and tumbled all the way down the long staircase. She lied there on the ground, with Fluttershy staring down at her, a hoof to her mouth.

“Gosh, are you alright?” she asked, concerned.

Rainbow had some sizable bruises on her body, and she also hit her bump, which throbbed anew all over again, and was bleeding badly.

“Celestia, I just wanna know where this bad luck is coming from!” Rainbow whimpered.

Fluttershy ran into the kitchen to get some band-aids.

Rainbow stared at Angel, who laughed at her.

“It’s all your fault. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have walked upstairs to get Fluttershy. Therefore, I wouldn’t have fallen back down the stairs.” Rainbow accusingly stated.

Fluttershy returned with the band-aids, and aided Rainbow’s bleeding bump. “Okay now, you just sit here on the couch, you’ll be fine.”

Fluttershy tried to comfort Rainbow Dash, who didn’t really need it, but accepted it anyway. “It’s still pretty early, why don’t we watch some of the news?” Fluttershy offered as she turned on the TV.

After a couple hours, the weather came on. The program explained that today was the last day of that big thunderstorm, and it was going to be the most severe storm the pegasi ever brought out since 1992. The program stressed that everypony stay inside for the next 24 hours, just to be safe.

When the program was done, it was about 8:45.

“I’m gonna go make breakfast.” Fluttershy offered as she flew into the kitchen.

Rainbow looked outside and saw the ripping and flashing of lightning and thunder throughout the sky. She cringed a little. The sky stayed lit up, it just never stopped flashing. At one moment a flash came super close, and took out a tree just outside her backyard.

“Whoa! Fluttershy, it’s getting pretty intense out there!” Rainbow raised her voice and started to panic.

Suddenly, an ear-splitting boom smashed through the house, right over the kitchen. Rainbow collapsed to the floor and plugged her ears, which were now ringing too loud to hear anything. At that very moment, all the windows shattered, and the boom after boom from the storm were amplified through the cottage.

Fluttershy’s birds chirped and flew in all directions, spooked. Angel ran around, not knowing where to go. Rain poured in from the windows, and wind blew everything around.

Rainbow tried to reach the kitchen, her hooves in front of her to protect her. When she finally trekked through the raging, howling elements, she saw a traumatic sight, the center of the damage, the kitchen.

There was a massive hole in the ceiling where the lightning struck, and right underneath it lie Fluttershy, singed from the lightning, unconscious on the floor. Rainbow was poised in the doorway, gripping the frame, staring at what was in front of her. As her mane blew through all the wind, she realized her bad luck was affecting her friends, and now one of their lives were hanging in the balance...

She knew she was brave. She knew she was brash. She knew…...she was Rainbow Dash. And it was time to start acting like Rainbow Dash.

Through the howling commotion of the wind, the rain and the pounding thunder, Rainbow Dash struggled to get over to Fluttershy, who lied on the kitchen floor, unmoving. Rainbow didn’t know if she was dead or alive.

When Rainbow finally got close enough to Fluttershy, she noticed there was charred skin running down her back, from her neck down to her tail.

Rainbow didn’t have time to investigate. She got underneath Fluttershy, and flipped her up onto her back. Rainbow tried to think of a safe place to hide for the remainder of the storm, but with all the loud noise, and her lack of food, she couldn’t think clearly.

Suddenly, she remembered. Her basement! Fluttershy never used her basement because of how pitch black it was down there. Rainbow looked around the kitchen and saw a lantern resting on the floor, cracked. It would have to do for now. Rainbow bent down, being careful not to drop Fluttershy, and grabbed the handle with her mouth.

At that moment, another shattering strike of lightning smashed through the living room, and actually set the floor and curtains on fire, ten feet from where Rainbow was standing. Rainbow gasped. The entrance to the basement was across the living room, right in the midst of the growing fire.

Rainbow took a deep breath, and took one step on the wood floor. It creaked badly under her hoof. Rainbow hesitated, then suddenly sprinted across the burning room. She knew if she dropped Fluttershy, by the time she picked her back up, they would both be engulfed in flames.

Just as Rainbow reached the entrance to the basement, Fluttershy began to slide. She pushed her back into place and walked down the stairs, as if she were entering a boss room in a video game.

.................................

She reached the bottom and closed the door behind her. Luckily the door was made out of iron, because it was getting warm. Fluttershy’s house was pretty much built out of a tree, so it was gonna burn down in record time. However, the basement was lined with cement, and the door was iron, so they were safe down here.

Rainbow gently set Fluttershy down, and searched the darkness for some spare matches. One thing she wasn’t scared of was darkness. Being a pegasus, she had a naturally keen sense of direction.

Eventually, her hooves hit a box. She felt around for the lid, and found it locked.

“Screw this…” Rainbow moaned as she took one swift chop of her hoof and the lock smashed into pieces. “There’s a reason I’m a black belt in karate.”

Rainbow opened the box and felt around the supplies for what she was looking for.

Rainbow was impressed on how many emergency things were in that box. She even felt a catheter in there.

“Jeez, why would anypony need all this stuff?” Rainbow wondered.

With a little more feeling around, Rainbow felt a box of matches meet her hoof.

“Ah, here we go!”

Rainbow walked back over to Fluttershy, and picked up the lantern. She struck a match and lit it, illuminating the basement.

Now that Rainbow and Fluttershy were safe, it was time to look at the damage. Rainbow flipped Fluttershy over onto her belly and examined her back. A black streak of burnt skin ran from the midst of her neck to the root of her tail. This brought up some questions.

“(If I was struck in the same place, why didn’t I get a black streak? Why didn’t I fall unconscious?)” Rainbow thought to herself.

She flipped Fluttershy back onto her back. Rainbow put her ear right up to Fluttershy’s chest. She heard and felt the steady rhythm of Fluttershy’s heart.

“Aw thank Celestia, she’s alive!” Rainbow cried out with joy as one tear fell down her cheek. She was so overjoyed that her bad luck didn’t kill anypony else. They didn’t deserve it.

Over all that, Rainbow realized how hungry she was getting. She walked back over to the Box of Miracles, as she liked
to call it. It was much easier to search around now that she had light.

She found a bag of dried beef strips and some crackers. She examined the beef strips.

“What in the hay are these things?” Rainbow thought out loud. She popped one in her mouth and chewed. “Hey, these things aren’t half bad!” Rainbow mused as she put the bag aside.

She searched the Miracle Box some more.

“What the buck…” Rainbow held up a portable TV. “This box is a life saver!” Rainbow yelled happily, knowing she couldn’t wake up Fluttershy at the moment. Fluttershy could be asleep for days, and this worried Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow put the TV on the floor and raised the antennae. She flipped on the power, and the screen fizzled. Slowly and carefully, the screen came to life.

Rainbow used the dials on the TV to switch to the weather. There was an urgent message saying that this thunderstorm turned out to be a supercell, and was going to spawn a tornado. Also, it has raged out of the pegasi’s influence. It will carry on at its worst for double or even triple its original span.

Rainbow couldn’t believe her ears. She wanted to throw the TV across the basement as hard as she could. How could her bad luck get so…bad? She just had to know where it came from.

Poison Joke? No, Poison Joke only affects the pony who walks through it, not everypony she knows!

Rainbow turned the TV off, and walked back to the Miracle Box to put it away. She shuffled through it some more, and found one sleeping bag for warmth. She dragged it back over to Fluttershy and managed slide her into it, then zipped it up.

………………………

Hours passed. The storm continued. Rainbow was starving, but she tried to preserve what little morsels she managed to fish out of the Miracle Box. Then, thinking about the Miracle Box, she walked back over to it, and looked even more.

Rainbow was beginning to fall in love with this box, because it also contained three bottles of water and a cell phone.

A cell phone! She could call for help! She raced back over to Fluttershy (still unconscious) and dialed Twilight’s phone. Instead of ringing, she heard three beeps. She pulled it away from her ear and looked at the screen. No reception.

“Son of a…!!!” Rainbow raged and threw the phone at the wall. It shattered into a million pieces.

Just then, a drop of water tickled her nose. She looked up. The ceiling was dripping. She looked at the wall. Water dripped down the sides.

“Oh Celestia, no!”

Rainbow was out of options. It was either rush outside and get pummeled by the raging elements, or stay down here and drown to death.

Rainbow ran back over to the Miracle Box and frantically searched around. After a couple minutes of searching, she still found nothing. There was nothing else to do. She would have to grab Fluttershy and trek on to Ponyville in the storm.

Just as this thought passed her mind, there was a frantic pounding on the door. Rainbow was already knee-deep in water, and Fluttershy was floating.

She opened the door, and found Twilight standing there with her raincoat on. “What’s going on here? What’s wrong?”

“TWILIGHT!!! Thank you!” Rainbow jumped on Twilight and hugged her.

“Yeah, it’s me! What’s the problem?” Twilight asked.

“It was horrible! Fluttershy’s house got burned down, and she got struck by lightning! I had to grab her and take cover in the basement, which is starting to flood! Help me…” Rainbow rasped.

She looked around. Fluttershy’s house was history. Her birds got away, and she didn’t know where Angel was. Her and Twilight were standing in an empty frame.

Twilight sprung into action. She sloshed down into the hip-deep water, and used her magic to lift Fluttershy out. Her and Rainbow had to abandon the stuff down there, because the water was rising too fast.

Rainbow and Twilight walked back to Twilight’s library in the storm.

“At least you came! I have SOME good luck, right?” Rainbow joked.

“Don’t jinx it!”

Twilight just finished as a bolt of lightning ripped through the air and struck the tree 15 feet away from them, setting the Everfree Forest on fire.

“Heh heh…sorry.” Rainbow apologized.

………………...............

At Twilight’s library, Twilight slid Fluttershy into her own bed, because Twilight didn’t need to sleep at the moment.

“You know Twilight, your library is also built out of a tree. And now I’m standing in it with my bad luck!” Rainbow warned.

“Oh Rainbow, I trust you. I know whatever this is will be resolved soon.” Twilight answered reassuringly.

“Alright, I’m going out again to gather everypony up. It’s safer if we’re all together.” Twilight stated. “You stay here with Fluttershy. I’ll put a magic barrier around the library.”

Rainbow simply nodded.

Twilight slipped on her raincoat and headed out the door.

Soon after she left, Rainbow realized she left her Daring Do book at the hospital again. And now she was trapped in a library with a bunch of books she didn’t want to read.

She realized something else. She had to use the mare’s room.

“Ugh, it seems my bad luck takes big tolls, as well as little inconveniences like this one.”

She heard stirring from upstairs.

“Fluttershy!” Rainbow zipped up the stairs to Twilight’s bed.

Fluttershy, finally awake, sat up. “Uhhh…where am I? Rainbow Dash? What happened?” She moaned.

“You were kinda struck by lightning. My fault. I’m sorry…” Rainbow answered, ashamed.

“It wasn’t your fault. You had nothing to do with it.” Fluttershy replied.

“But my bad luck! If I weren’t there, it wouldn’t have happened!” Rainbow objected.

“I don’t believe you for a minute.” Fluttershy stated in her soft voice. “No more questions. You didn’t do it.” Fluttershy was final.

“Alright…say, do you know of a bathroom in here? I kinda need one.” Rainbow asked.

“No, not that I know of.” Fluttershy answered.

“Well of course not! I should’ve known.” Rainbow was annoyed.

There was a couple minutes of absolute silence. Nothing could be heard except the loud crashes and pouring rain outside. Finally, Rainbow spoke.

“Fluttershy……I’m sorry. Your house burnt down during that lightning bolt attack. I rescued you.” Rainbow apologized.

Fluttershy stared at her in shock. “You…saved me?”

“Yes, I did. I had to pick you up and carry you, because you were knocked out.”

Fluttershy looked down. Then, she walked over to Rainbow Dash and kissed her on the cheek. Rainbow’s eyes went wide, and she put a hoof up to her face. She blushed.

“W…what was that?”

“Thank you Rainbow Dash. If you weren’t there, I would’ve died.” Fluttershy was blushing too.

There was more silence. Fluttershy looked at some of the books on the shelves, and Rainbow Dash sat against the wall, humming.

Minutes turned into hours, and still no Twilight.

“I just know she’s alright, something’s just holding her up.” Fluttershy stated. She looked at Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow was flapping her wings slightly, and gritting her teeth.

“What’s wrong?” Fluttershy asked.

“Still have to use the bathroom…” Rainbow answered.

“You can hold it for now. I’m certain you’re not gonna go outside are you?” Fluttershy asked.

“No…not happening…” Rainbow replied.

“Sorry Dash. That’s your only option.”

After another half an hour, Twilight finally arrived with Pinkie Pie, Applejack and Rarity.

“Twilight? Where’s Spike?” Fluttershy asked.

“He had something to do in Canterlot.” Twilight replied. She looked at Rainbow.

“What’s wrong with you?” she asked.

“N…none of y..your business.” Rainbow replied, her teeth still gritting.

“Okay then…at least we’re all here!” Twilight announced. “Is there anything we plan on doing while this storm rages?”

Pinkie instantly spoke up. “We should play games!” she suggested excitedly.

“Works ‘fer me. There’s really nuttin’ else ta’ do.” Applejack replied.

“As long as I don’t get dirty.” Rarity chimed in.

“Well you c..can leave m..me out.” Rainbow continued to struggle as she stated her sentence.

…………………..................

Rainbow just sat against the wall while her friends played charades. They were pretty good at it, too. At one point, Rarity went up to take her turn, moved one hoof, and Pinkie guessed it correct.

That tornado was scheduled to spawn tomorrow. What confused Rainbow Dash was that they were able to predict it so early before it happened. Tornadoes are incredibly unpredictable.

Another hour passed before the ponies began to leave the library.

“I don’t think they understood that they were here for safety, not a friendly gathering.” Fluttershy stated.

Both of them looked at Rainbow. She sat in a funny position, her face set in full concentration, her hoof between her legs. “H..h..help m..m..me…” Rainbow rasped.

“Are you sure you’re alright?” Twilight asked, concerned.

“She has to use the restroom.” Fluttershy told her.

“Well why didn’t you just say so? It’s down that hall, at the end.” Twilight said.

“THANK YOU!!!!!” Rainbow yelled as she blasted down the hall and shut the bathroom door. Her speed blew some papers off the shelves and in different directions. Twilight and Fluttershy laughed.

Just then, there was an eerie, escalating roar coming from outside. Twilight looked out, and her jaw dropped.

“Looks like that tornado is coming early…” Twilight gasped.

“When?” Fluttershy asked.

“Right now.”

Hi again, everypony! Another early update (they'll probably all be). It took me all afternoon to right this! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it so far!

The Worst

Fluttershy ran to the window alongside Twilight to see what was going on. Sure enough, she saw a looming, roaring swirling cloud just above Sugarcube Corner.

“Oh, this is bad.” Fluttershy shivered, scared.

Twilight wasn’t at the window anymore. She was consulting a book on weather and how to deal with it.

Rainbow came out of the bathroom, extreme pleasure on her face. “Ohh, I needed that…” she moaned. “What are you reading? And what’s that noise outside?” she asked.

“I’m reading a book on weather, and that noise is a tornado about to spawn over Sugarcube Corner.” Twilight said with a dark tone.

“What?” Rainbow exclaimed. She darted to the window and looked out, and saw the devil cloud looming and swirling over the bakery.

“But but…but…” Rainbow stuttered.

“I know it was supposed to spawn tomorrow, but tornadoes are unpredictable! We had no way of knowing it would spawn today.” Twilight interrupted.

“Someone has to warn the Cakes, or else they’ll be killed!” Fluttershy nearly whimpered. “And don’t forget Pinkie Pie!” she finished.

“I can’t call them, because all the phone lines are dead. What could we do?” Twilight asked, with fear in her voice.

Rainbow looked down at the ground. In a brave and confident tone, Rainbow announced what she would never have heard herself say.

“I’ll go. With Celestia as my witness, if that storm kills me, at least I’ll go down as a hero.”

Twilight and Fluttershy stared at Rainbow in awe. Fluttershy was close to crying, worrying she’d lose her friend in this daring attempt.

Rainbow Dash looked back at them, a look of content in her eyes. There was no changing her mind.

“I’m going to evacuate Ponyville.” she announced.

……………………

Twilight continued to stare at Rainbow Dash, while Fluttershy had tears rolling down her face. She wouldn’t be able to stand it if her friend died.

Rainbow didn’t dress in anything. She was going to expose herself to the storm completely bare. She stood on the front door mat, ready to head out into the elements of dark nature.

“Twilight…if I don’t make it………tell Applejack she still owes me 20 bits.” Rainbow ordered.

Twilight chuckled. “Good luck, my little pony.” Twilight reassured as she gestured her good bye.

Rainbow stepped outside and closed the door. She was blown right off her hooves, and struggled to get back up. Once she did, she figured out how to maintain her balance.

There would be no flying on this trip, for it could cost her her wings…or her life.

Rainbow looked up to the swirling death cloud, which started to form a cone, hanging above Sugarcube Corner. She headed there first, ignoring the rain and wind that was whipping at her body.

………………………

Mr. and Mrs. Cake had closed up shop due to weather conditions. It’s not like anypony is gonna show up to their store in these conditions anyway.

There was a sudden pounding on the door. Startled, Mr. Cake went to the door to find Rainbow Dash. He opened the door and Rainbow invited herself in, shivering and dripping wet.

Before he could say anything, she began. “I’m not sure you guys realize it, but there is a funnel cloud collecting right over your shop. It’s gonna turn into a tornado! You gotta evacuate this place, now!” Rainbow exclaimed, panting.

Mr. Cake put a hoof up to his mouth and gasped. He went to get Mrs. Cake, while Rainbow Dash went upstairs to get Pinkie Pie.

When she reached the top, Pinkie took one glance at Rainbow and giggled.

“Hee hee! Why are you so wet, Dashie?” she laughed.

“I came here in the rain to warn you guys about a tornado! It’s gonna spawn right over you! You gotta get out!” Rainbow yelled.

Pinkie stared, shocked.

“Get downstairs!” Pinkie Pie hopped down the stairs, and Rainbow followed.

Once they were all gathered in the store, Rainbow Dash got down to the point. “Do you guys have a basement or a cellar of any sort?” Rainbow asked.

“Well yeah, we got a storage room underground, but—“ Mr. Cake started before Rainbow interrupted.

“Then you gotta get down there and stay there, with your hooves over your head, you understand? Go!”

Not given a choice, the Cakes scrambled down to the cellar. Pinkie stared at Rainbow Dash.

“You’re my hero, Dashie…” Pinkie whispered, serious for once in her life.

Mrs. Cake poked her head out of the cellar and yelled, “Come on, Pinkie!” Pinkie ran down there with them.

When Rainbow rushed back outside, she was pelted by hail. It was like a dozen bee stings all at once, and it hurt.

“I’ve got a long way to go if I’m gonna evacuate every pony in Ponyville…”

As Rainbow ran to the next house, she looked behind her, and saw the tornado touch down and rip Sugarcube Corner to pieces.

The pieces, large as a house and small as a golf ball, flew in all directions as the tornado followed her, looming closer.

“HOLY BUCK!!!” Rainbow sprinted for her life against all odds.

………………………

Fluttershy was trying not to be hysterical. She was shivering, and still softly crying.

Twilight was trying to think of any way she would be able to help. She couldn’t use any kind of magic, because weather is only in control to pegasi. She just couldn’t find anything.

Meanwhile, that roaring noise outside turned into a moaning, constant explosion sound. Twilight and Fluttershy darted to the window to see what it was.

The tornado had touched down, and was heading for the shopping district. They saw a load of ponies dashing out of there, almost like the Running of the Leaves.

Sprinting in the opposite direction, towards them, was Rainbow Dash, with a heroic smirk on her face. She passed them and headed to the other side of town.

“She did it! She evacuated the first half of town! In one piece, that is!” Twilight exclaimed excitedly.

Fluttershy let out a sigh of relief. She suddenly remembered something.

“Uh, Twilight? Shouldn’t we be in the basement as well?” Fluttershy asked softly.

Twilight looked back at her with sudden realization. “I don’t have a basement…” Twilight answered.

…………………………

Rainbow had just warned the third house when she looked back. The tornado had turned around and was heading in her direction, ripping and uprooting everything in its path.

“Bad luck, you won’t kill me yet!” Rainbow yelled confidently at the tornado. She still had seven houses to go.

Rainbow made it to the next house. She used her karate to kick down the door, and yelled, “Tornado! Everypony run away from Ponyville, now!”

Without waiting for an answer, she sprinted to the next house.

She used this technique for all the houses. Soon she was finished, and had Ponyville evacuated, save for the Cakes and the two back at the library.

She turned around and began to run back to the library. Suddenly, her hoof hit a large stone, and she crumpled to the ground. When she tried to get back up, her hoof burned like fire.

She hopelessly lied there, and looked up. The tornado began to tear through the library. Rainbow watched in utter shock.

“No! Fluttershy! Twilight!”

Still unable to move, she uselessly lied in that spot, and watched as the tornado headed straight at her.

Weird Feelings

View Online

Rainbow Dash lied hopelessly on the ground, waiting for the tornado to come and finish her off once and for all.

“I’m so sorry, Twilight and Fluttershy. I’m so sorry it had to end this way…” Rainbow sniffed as she slowly began to cry. Her bad luck had cost her her friends, and that alone was too much to bear.

Rainbow lied on the ground, as the tornado grew ever closer. She began to feel light, as the tornado started to pick her up.

Wait…that’s not the tornado…it was a pony! Somepony was lifting her off the ground!

Her eyes were damp, and her mane was wet down in her face, so she couldn’t tell who the pony was. But the shape of the pony’s back told her it was a stallion.

As the pony carried her off, the movement of the pony walking had rocked her to sleep.

…………………….

“Unh…what…”

Rainbow fluttered her eyes and softly awoke. She was in a cloud sofa, in a cloud home. This told her that her rescuer was a pegasus. She sat up and squinted, looking around.

It was quite a nice place. This pony had a kitchenette with all the usual cooking items, and small table for two, a living room (which she was in) with a TV, a couple recliners, and the cloud sofa she lied on. The bedrooms must have been down the hall, as well as the bathroom.

“Holy buck…” She mumbled.

Rainbow looked out the window. The sun streamed in brightly.

Now she was instantly awake. How long was she out? That storm had to have lasted at least a week!

“Hey, no need for such language!” She heard a voice say.

Rainbow turned to see a stallion standing in the hallway, leaning on the frame, looking as casual as ever. He was dark gray with an electric-looking yellow mane. His cutie mark was a supercell thunderstorm, with a tornado and bolts of lightning. He was a little taller than Rainbow Dash, and he was pretty handsome.

“Hi, I’m Thunder Flash.” he said happily.

“H…hi, I’m Rain—“ Rainbow started to say.

“Trust me, I know who you are. And let me say, it’s such an honor to have you in my home! You’re amazing!” Flash interrupted excitedly.

Rainbow looked puzzled. “What do you mean?” she asked.

“Well, I saw you in front of a raging twister, so I thought I’d rescue you! Are you okay?”

“Sort of…I kind of twisted something, and couldn’t get back up.” she replied.

She suddenly realized something. “Wait, did you say Thunder Flash? That new recruit to the Wonderbolts?” She asked.

“Yeah! Isn’t it awesome? I’ve always wanted to be in their group!” he squealed.

"Yeah…it’s great…” Rainbow answered.

“What’s wrong?” Flash asked, concerned.

“Well, I’ve also always wanted to be in the Wonderbolts, and that package you received accidentally showed up at my doorstep first, and had to be taken away.” Rainbow replied.

“Oh, I’m so sorry…” Flash put a hoof on Rainbow shoulder.

She wiped it off and said, “Don’t go getting affectionate with me! I’m not that kind of pony! If you want affectionate, you have to show me you’re my kind of stallion!”

“Well then, challenge accepted…” Flash muttered.

“What?”

“Nothing!”

“Uh huh…right. Anyway, where are we? And how come that storm ended so quickly?” Rainbow changed the subject.

“It didn’t. It’s still going. And we’re located above the cloud barrier, that’s why it’s sunny.” Flash answered.

“What about my friends? That tornado ripped up both their homes, and I believe they’re both dead.”

There were some seconds of silence. “…Are you sure I can’t be affectionate? Everything seems pretty bad for you.” Flash mentioned.

“Yes, I’m sure. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna be going now.” Rainbow shuffled to get off the couch.

“Go ahead, I’m not stopping you.” Flash answered.

As soon as Rainbow got up, her hoof twisted and burned, and she collapsed back onto the couch. She tried to flap
her wings, but found one of them broken. “What the…why can’t I fly?!” Rainbow exclaimed.

“That injury. When you hit the ground, you landed on your wing, and probably didn’t notice it.” Flash explained.

“Stupid bad luck! Everything has been bad for me, EVERYTHING!” Rainbow wailed.

“Not true! I brought you here, right? That’s just one thing. You’re lucky for me.” Flash objected. He seemed quite enlightened.

During all this, Rainbow Dash wondered something that she just had to know. “Hey, did you…by any chance, go to ask Twilight if I was single?” Rainbow Dash asked as she blushed.

Flash’s eyes went wide, and he blushed too.

“Um…” He shuffled his hoof and looked at the ground. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t help myself. I’ve seen you in action, and I’ve seen your Sonic Rainboom. You’re just incredible. Sometimes I wonder why I was the one accepted to the Wonderbolts.” Flash confessed.

Rainbow Dash didn’t answer. She just looked down at the floor, in deep thought.

Flash quickly changed the subject. “Okay, I’m going to go get dinner started.” Flash stated as he walked off to the kitchen.

Rainbow snapped out of her thoughts, and looked up. “What are you making?”

“Just hay and some sandwiches. I don’t like getting fancy very much.”

Rainbow started to realize that this pegasus was just like her. He adores the Wonderbolts, that’s just one thing. He’s not shy at all, unlike Fluttershy. He’s very casual, and doesn’t like getting formal about things. The one thing missing was his ego. He didn’t have an intense ego like she did.

Rainbow tried to start up a conversation. “So what does your cutie mark mean?” she asked from the couch.

“It means I’m great with weather. I may not be fast like you, but I know how to handle weather. That’s why I didn’t get blown away by that twister when I rescued you. I knew all the correct stances to keep grounded.” he informed.

“How did you get into the Wonderbolts?” she asked.

“Didn’t you see the letter? It said skills and bravery. I rescued Soarin from a hurricane over in Las Pegasus.” he answered back.

“That’s cool! I actually rescued all three of them when I did my Rainboom.” Her tone dropped when she said that last sentence.

“What’s wrong?”

“I just don’t know why I didn’t get accepted…” Rainbow replied.

“They probably think you’re too good for them, and you have much better things to contend to. I…I think so too.”

Dang, this guy was smart! He could hunt down the good in every situation! She liked that. It was hard to be put down with this guy around.

“So do you want one sandwich or two? I have plenty!”

“I’ll take two. I haven’t eaten in a while.” she answered.

“Okay! I’ll have it soon!” Flash trotted back to the kitchen. Rainbow stayed on the couch, and thought some more. She felt something when she was around him, and she couldn’t identify it. It was a warm fuzzy feeling, and she liked it. She almost didn’t want to leave anymore. He was a very nice stallion.

Wait, what are you thinking, Rainbow Dash? You can’t allow yourself to fall for another pony!

Flash walked over and set a tray table down in front of her. He walked back into the kitchen, and came back with her plate of food. He put it on the tray table, along with a remote for the TV. “Now you make yourself comfortable, and I’m going to go eat in my room. Okay? Later!” Flash disappeared down the hall with his dinner. Rainbow picked up the remote, and turned on Equestrian Idol.

……………………

Flash decided not to watch the TV in his room. While he ate, he simply thought to himself. He sighed.

“Man, Rainbow Dash is awesome. And she’s so hot! I just wish I knew how to ask her out.” He thought out loud, hoping Rainbow didn’t hear him.

However, she did hear him. She sat in the other room, listening. And her face was redder than Big Macintosh.

“What do I do? A hot stallion wants to ask me out! Is this bad luck or good luck?”

Rainbow moved around on the couch, anxious. Her face grew hotter by the minute.

She couldn’t calm down, and she heard hoofsteps coming down the hall. She gasped, and threw the covers over her face.

Thunder Flash emerged, carrying his empty plate. “What are you doing?”

“Sleeping. *Snore snore*” she mimicked.

“Don’t be silly! Come on out!” he playfully said as he took off the covers, revealing Rainbow’s deep blush. She looked up at him.

“Are you mad?” She asked.

……………………

Fluttershy coughed as she appeared out of the rubble. Twilight followed.

“Thank goodness I put up that magic barrier around us, or we’d be killed by that tornado!” The library was destroyed, and it was still pouring rain.

“Where’s Rainbow Dash? I hope she’s okay…” Fluttershy said.

“I’m sure she’s fine. She’s Rainbow Dash! She’ll find a way out of everything.” Twilight mentioned.

“Yeah, but a tornado! It’s just very dangerous!” Fluttershy objected.

Twilight put a hoof on Fluttershy’s shoulder. “Listen, she’s going to be alright. I guarantee it.”

Twilight looked into Fluttershy’s eyes, and she looked back. She nodded.

……………………

Rainbow Dash was more embarrassed then ever at that moment.

“I’m sorry…I listened to what you said in there…” She confessed.

“Don’t worry about it in the least. Now you know how I really felt this whole time. So what do you say? Do you wanna hook up?”

This caught Rainbow by surprise. She had a big decision to make.

A Relationship Sparks

View Online

Fluttershy and Twilight worked to fix the library. While Fluttershy organized scattered books and scrolls, Twilight multitasked, using her magic to protect them from the rain, and forge the chunks of wall together. Twilight could see the look on Fluttershy’s face.

“Don’t worry, I guarantee Rainbow Dash is perfectly okay.” Twilight reassured. It didn’t seem to calm her down. “What is it about her, anyway?”

“She saved my life when my house burned down. I’d hate to see her die, and me still alive. It’s not fair.”

Twilight put a hoof on her shoulder. “Fluttershy, I bet my life Rainbow Dash is okay. You can kill me if I’m wrong.” Twilight stated.

That got her attention. “Well, okay…”

……………………

Thunder Flash waited for Rainbow Dash’s answer. She looked really nervous right now.

“Don’t feel pressurized, it’s okay if you say no.” Flash mentioned.

“It’s not that, I’ve been thinking about dating you when I first saw you. And you’re the first. It’s just…what will my friends think?”

Flash thought for a moment. “Don’t worry; your friends will LOVE me!” Flash stated with a grin.

Rainbow smiled. “Could you help me get off this couch?” she asked.

Flash thought again.

“Hey, I got some old crutches from my closet! Be right back!”

Flash zoomed off, and was back ten seconds later. “Here, try these on!” He handed her the crutches.

Rainbow grabbed them, and awkwardly wobbled off the couch, balancing on them. Suddenly, she toppled and the crutches flew in the air.

Flash gasped, then quickly grabbed Rainbow Dash with his front hoof and head, and snatched the crutches with his back hooves. He was only standing by his one front hoof and the crutches he held.

“Wow, you have excellent reflexes! And you’re so flexible!” Rainbow gasped.

“Yeeeaah…….help me…” Flash was stretched in an uncomfortable position.

Rainbow mustered all the strength she had to help out Flash. Then she grabbed the crutches and tried again. She quickly got the hang of it, and almost instantly she was mobile once again.

“Thanks, Flash.”

“Not a problem. So tell me more about this bad luck streak you’re having.” Flash asked with interest.

Rainbow began to tell the whole story. As she was speaking, they walked outside, and by the time she was finished, they were standing on the edge of his porch.

“Wow…that IS depressing.”

“Yeah, I know.” Rainbow looked over the edge. “Wow, the storm looks weird from up here.”

Suddenly, Rainbow was struck in the head by an anvil. Her face lost all expression, and sort of had that ding-dong-derp-eyed look. Like an inanimate object, she toppled right off the edge of the porch and plummeted to the earth below.

Mouth agape, Flash looked up, and saw Derpy.

“Derpy! How did you even MANAGE that?!?!” Flash screamed angrily.

“What just happened?” Derpy asked absent-mindedly.

“You just K.O.ed my marefriend!” Flash answered back.

“Rainbow Dash is your marefriend? Cool!” Derpy mused.

“(Oh no, there goes my secret. Now everypony is gonna know.)” Flash thought.

…………………..

After yelling at Derpy, Flash flew down to where Rainbow had landed. Not surprisingly, she was unconscious. He slung her on his back, and carried her to the hospital in the rain.

……………………

Flash sat in Rainbow’s room, playing solitaire on the table. Several times the nurses and doctors had asked him to leave, but he refused. He wasn’t leaving Rainbow Dash’s side.

He heard groaning. Quickly, he rushed over to the bed to witness Rainbow wake up. She had a bandage around her head, a cast around her hoof, and some gauge around her wing. She also had a huge bandage around her waist.

“Uuugh………Flash? What’s going on?”

“You were struck in the head, and fell to earth. Derpy accidentally dropped an anvil on your head. Don’t ask me how she managed to do THAT.”

“See? I told you…”

“Told me what?”

“About my bad luck. Gimme a break, an anvil? That’s nothing but bad luck!” Rainbow stated. “How long was I out?”

“Three days. The storm’s over.”

Rainbow’s jaw dropped. “And you stayed here the whole time?”

“Heck yeah. I’m not leaving you.”

Flash leaned in and kissed Rainbow Dash on the lips. Her eyes went wide in surprise, and then slowly closed as she accepted the kiss.

After a solid thirty seconds, Flash broke the kiss. Rainbow seemed dazed.

“I’m not afraid to take my chances.” Flash said. He walked back over to the table and continued his solitaire game.

Rainbow stared at him in awe. “(How did he manage to win ME over? Heck, I’m not complaining…)” Rainbow thought.

……………………

“There, we’re finally done. The library is as good as new.” Twilight marveled.

Fluttershy was STILL shivering a little. Twilight looked at her.

“Would you be satisfied if we went to search for Rainbow Dash?” Twilight asked, concerned.

Fluttershy nodded her head vigorously.

Twilight sighed. “Okay then, let’s go.”

…………………….

The two stepped outside. “Okay, if you’re so sure there’s something wrong with Rainbow Dash, the first place we should check is the hospital. If she’s not there, we know she’s alright.” Twilight and Fluttershy ran off to the hospital.

After five minutes they arrived, panting from running so fast. They stepped inside and wiped their hooves on the mat. Twilight walked up to the mare at the counter.

“Hi, we’re looking for a pony named Rainbow Dash. Is she here?” Twilight asked politely.

“Here honey, let me check.” the pony replied. “Uh, yeah. Miss Rainbow Dash is on this list. She’s in room 204.”

“Okay, thanks. By the way, Rainbow doesn’t like to be called MISS Rainbow Dash. Just Rainbow is fine by her.” Twilight mentioned.

Twilight and Fluttershy walked down the hall.

“Let’s see…200, 201, 203, ah! 204.”

Twilight knocked on the door, and then slowly walked in. They saw Rainbow in a bed covered in bandages, and a stallion playing cards.

Twilight and Fluttershy both yelled “Rainbow!” simultaneously. They ran over and hugged Rainbow Dash, who hugged them back.

Rainbow had tears in her eyes. “I’m so glad you guys are alive!” she said.

“Of course! Why wouldn’t we be alive?”

“I saw your library get torn down. I figured you guys got taken with it.”

Fluttershy was also crazy relieved. Her and Rainbow conversed. Twilight turned to the stallion. “Who are you?”

“I’m Thunder Flash. I’m Rainbow Dash’s coltfriend.” he answered. Twilight’s jaw hit the floor.

“Oh Rainbow Dash, how much did I miss?” she asked herself. She walked back over to Rainbow. “So Rainbow, who’s your friend?” she asked in an accusing tone.

Rainbow cringed. “He’s kinda…my coltfriend. Name’s Thunder Flash.” Rainbow answered.

Twilight leaned in and whispered to her. “What happened? You were only gone for five days! How did you get a coltfriend?” she asked.

“………I’ll tell you later.” Rainbow whispered back.

“No, I want to know now.”

“Then could you get rid of Fluttershy?”

“Fluttershy, could you leave the room for a second?” Twilight spoke up.

“Oh, okay.” Fluttershy left without arguing.

Now that Fluttershy was gone, Twilight spoke in a regular volume. “How did you, the hard-to-get tomboy pony, get a coltfriend so quickly?” Twilight asked.

Rainbow sighed. “Okay, when I was trying to evacuate everypony from the tornado, I tripped and twisted one of my joints. That’s when I saw your library get torn down. Thunder Flash came and rescued me, and took me back to his house. He cared for me and all that, and he turned out to be really charming. He also happened to have a crush on me.” Rainbow explained.

Twilight was dumbfounded. Charming! RAINBOW DASH used the word ‘charming’! This stallion must really be something, because he’s softening up Rainbow Dash. And that was bad.

“I don’t believe you.” Twilight objected as she tried to test Rainbow.

“What? What part of it don’t you understand?” Rainbow asked.

“I just don’t think you can get a stallion so easily. You ain’t got the stuff.”

“You wanna go? Right now?” Rainbow raged as she sat up in her bed.

Twilight sighed with relief. Good, some of the old Rainbow Dash still existed. “I’m not sure I approve of this. He’s changing you, Rainbow Dash.” Twilight stated, worry in her voice.

“What? I’m sure he’s fine, he’s actually really nice.” Rainbow told her.

Twilight sighed again. “Fine, but don’t let this go too far. I don’t want a huge mess to have to clean up, if you know what I mean. Physically, and emotionally.”

“A physical mess to clean up? That’s gross, Twilight.” Rainbow stated.

“Hey, you never know. Romance has changed a lot of ponies before my very eyes.” Twilight mentioned.

Twilight walked out of the hospital, and Fluttershy followed. As Twilight walked, her worry grew. Rainbow was not cut out for romance, and this whole thing could spiral out of control very quickly.

Out of Control

Over a course of two months, Rainbow Dash and Thunder Flash got to know each other a lot better. Rainbow had recovered pretty well, and was out of the hospital. However, being she didn’t have a house, she moved in with Flash. Right now she just sleeps on the couch, but Flash insisted on saving up for a king-sized bed for them to share. He’s still saving up, and both of them being on the weather team don’t earn them a lot of bits.

It was a Sunday afternoon, and it was very sunny outside. Flash and Rainbow had the day off, so they sat next to each other on the couch, watching Wipeout. There wasn’t much to do.

“Hey, why don’t you turn on Equestria’s Funniest Home Videos? That stuff is funny!” Rainbow suggested.

“Hold on a sec. And…oh! That had to hurt!” Flash raved as he saw a mare get owned in the groin on the show. “Okay, what channel?”

“395, I think.” Rainbow guessed.

Flash scrolled through the channels until he reached 395. Something else was on at the moment. “What the--?”

“Check the guide. It’s probably not on yet.” Rainbow said.

When Flash clicked a button, he accidentally started recording the next show. “How do you use this thing?”

Rainbow giggled. “Here, it’s this button.” Rainbow pressed the button, and the guide showed up. The show wasn’t on until 5:00 in the evening.

“Aw, man. It’s not on yet. Now what?”

Flash thought for a moment. “Hey, I got an old Xbox in my room! And I downloaded this new game called Minecraft! Wanna try it?” Flash suggested.

“Okay! You’re gonna have to teach me first.”

The two started walking toward Flash’s room. “Ya know, I think my bad luck’s gone!” Rainbow noticed happily.

She heard a noise. She turned to see what it was, and saw nothing there. Right as she turned around, she slammed into the closed door. “Oooww! Maybe not.”

Rubbing her forehead, she noticed Flash hadn’t opened the door yet. “Hey, aren’t we going inside?” she asked, confused.

“Are you ready?” Flash asked as he opened the door. “Tada!”

In the center of the room was a king-sized bed, a Sleep Number bed to be exact. Rainbow’s jaw hit the floor.

“Whoa…” Rainbow eyed the bed in utter shock. “How did you get this?”

“I know some ponies who hooked me up. Do you like it?” he asked excitedly.

“Heck yeah! I love it!” Rainbow exclaimed. She flopped down on the bed, and picked up the remote. She pressed a button, and the bed automatically adjusted to her body shape. “This is amazing Flash!”

“I knew you’d like it! Now you don’t have to sleep on that old couch out in the living room!” Flash replied.

Rainbow jumped off the bed, ran over and hugged Flash. “Now let’s play this ‘Minecraft’ you told me about!”

……………………...

Twilight paced her library, wondering what Fluttershy was going to do without her house. “What about your pets? Where do you think they went?” she asked.

Fluttershy shivered in fear. “They might of wandered into *gulp* the Everfree Forest!”

“You mean the forest that was half burned down?” Twilight answered.

“What? How?” Fluttershy asked in surprise.

“Rainbow’s ‘bad luck’ got the forest struck by lightning. It’s nothing but a clearing now.”

“Then I don’t know where my animal friends went.” Fluttershy replied.

“Man, I’m worried about Rainbow Dash. I’ve never seen her get all…mushy.” Twilight stated as she suddenly changed the subject. “I’m just worried something is gonna go terribly wrong, if it hasn’t already.”

“What is there to get worried about romance?” Fluttershy asked.

Twilight gave her an annoyed look. “This is Rainbow Dash we’re talking about.” Twilight mentioned.

Fluttershy stared at her for a moment. “Oh, now I see.” She finally realized what Twilight was getting at.

“Here’s one thing: she already moved in with him. If they break up, where will she go?”

“You should stop worrying. They’ll be fine!” Fluttershy said with confidence.

In reality, she wasn’t entirely sure.

………………………

Flash jumped onto the bed, and Rainbow followed. Flash prepared his Xbox, and handed Rainbow a controller. Rainbow stared at it in confusion. “What do all these sticks and buttons do?”

Flash stared. “Wait…you’re the most competitive pony I know, and you’ve never played video games? This’ll be fun…” Flash said with a devilish grin on his face.

Flash spent the next twenty minutes explaining how video games work, how to play them, and then how to play Minecraft.

“It’s a block-building game. You build, you destroy, you craft stuff, and you try to survive the night. It’s really fun with two players!” Flash stated enthusiastically.

Flash turned on the Xbox, and started up Minecraft. When the title screen showed up, a little yellow text at the side of the logo read ‘Strengthens relationships!’ Rainbow blushed when she saw that.

The game began, and they had both spawned in a forest. “Man, I hope my bad luck doesn’t end up in the game.” Rainbow hoped aloud.

“Okay, just follow my lead. Hold down this button when the cursor is over that block to punch it, and you’ll collect it.” Flash spent ten minutes instructing Rainbow how to play his favorite video game. In the game, night began to fall.

“Alright, we have a shelter, now we just wait out the night.” Flash instructed. He was in the shelter, and Rainbow was running toward it. Suddenly, she heard a noise. She turned around and saw a green creature. All of a sudden, she was blown to smithereens.

Rainbow dropped the controller and screamed. “WHAT WAS THAT THING?!?!” she yelled.

Flash almost threw up laughing. “That was a creeper. They blow up when you get too close!” He continued to laugh.

“Hey, that’s not funny!”

Rainbow was also laughing, and playfully shoved Flash. He shoved her back.

Soon, they were laughing and wrestling on the bed.

After a while, they stopped and stared at each other eye to eye.

Randomly, they both leaned in and kissed each other, not pulling away for an abnormally extended period of time.

Still kissing, they lied down next to each other. Their activities heightened, and got more passionate and intense.

Before delving into a night to remember, Rainbow thought about the Minecraft logo, and the little yellow text.

“(Minecraft is right…)” she thought.

………………………

Twilight studied a map of Equestria. It was a big map, too. She was standing on top of it, and was studying the fine details of it. Strangely, this map had the names of all the ponies who owned the houses.

“Let’s see…Thunder Flash…” Twilight muttered as she searched for his cloud home on the map. It wasn’t near as big as Rainbow Dash’s old home, and it was pretty hard to find. It’s also hard because pegasai can naturally change the shape of their houses willingly, because they’re made out of clouds.

“Hmm. I wonder why Rainbow never did that to her house.” Twilight thought aloud.

After a while, she finally found it. “Thunder J. Flash. 1283 Feather Lane. Now I know where Rainbow Dash lives!” she chirped.

“What are you going to do?” Fluttershy asked her.

“I’m probably just going to pay her a visit tomorrow morning, just to see how the relationship is going, and how her injuries are doing.” Twilight answered.

It was getting dark at the moment. Twilight checked her clock. 8:30. “I just remembered I never had dinner. I’ll probably just have a large breakfast tomorrow morning.”

Twilight walked up to bed, and Fluttershy walked in the other room to watch Animal Planet.

………………………

The next morning, Twilight finished her large breakfast, and trotted outside to head to Rainbow/Flash’s house. She was down the street by the shopping district, when she saw a rainbow streak across the sky. She called out. “Rainbow!”

The streak stopped, and Rainbow Dash remained. She softly flew down to Twilight. “Hey Twilight! What’s up?” she asked woozily.

“Why are you talking like that? And what happened to your mane?”

Rainbow looked up, and saw her mane was a mess. A bad mess. She shrieked in panic and adjusted it quickly. “Why does it matter?” she asked quickly.

Twilight eyed her suspiciously. “Are you hiding something?”

“Nope! Just heading to weather duties! Later!” She flew off without a goodbye.

Twilight had seen enough. She headed off to Flash’s house. “I think I know what’s going on, and it’s just as I feared.” Twilight muttered.

…………………………

Flash continued to play Minecraft. “Man, why did I stop playing this?” he asked himself happily.

There was a knock on the door, which distracted him long enough to get killed by a zombie. “Aw, man!”

With his game over, he trotted over to the door, ready to give his usual polite introduction. But then he saw Twilight Sparkle at the door.

He answered it. “Hey, Twilight! How are you?” Flash asked.

“I’m fine, thanks. What’s up with your mane? It looks just like Rainbow Dash’s did earlier.”

Flash saw his mane. He gasped and adjusted it quickly.

Twilight rolled her eyes. “That’s just what Rainbow did earlier. What are you hiding?”

Flash started to sweat. His eyes darted back and forth, trying to find a way out of this.

“Oh would you look at the time you really should be going I have stuff to do bye!” He shut the door in her face.

“You know what? I already know what’s going on, so I’m not gonna get involved. If Rainbow’s happy, I’m happy.” Twilight sighed and left.

.................................
-3 months later-
……………………………

Twilight was sleepy. Celestia had an assignment for her, and she was up all night studying. But she had to press on, she had more stuff to do today.

She trudged over to Spike’s bed and woke him up. He had been home from Canterlot a while ago.

She walked downstairs and got her checklist of things for the day. Her first item was to head to the shopping district and pick up some new quills. However, she didn’t need to do this until noon. That means she had some time on her hooves.

She thought for a moment. “I know, I haven’t seen Rainbow Dash in quite a while. Maybe her and Thunder would enjoy a visit.”

She yelled up to Spike and told him he’d have to prepare breakfast for himself, then walked out the door.

……………………………

She wasn’t that far away from where she remembered Flash’s house to be. She heard a flapping noise, and looked behind her. While looking back, she bumped into Rainbow Dash herself, eating…a coconut?

“Hey Rainbow! I was just going to look for you!”

She took a better look at her.

“Hey, have you gained weight? Or is that just me?” she asked.

“That’s none of your business.” Rainbow replied rather rudely. She seemed to be in a bad mood.

“Okay…hey do you know where Flash is? I just wanted to see him.”

“Oh, he’s at the shopping district! I think he was buying some little stuff, like mints.” All of a sudden, she seemed happy.

“Okay. Thanks.” Twilight said.

“Bye!”

As Rainbow flew off, Twilight thought to herself.

“A coconut?” she asked herself with a bewildered look on her face.

She decided to skip meeting Flash, and headed back home. She had to see what was wrong with Rainbow, because something was off.

………………………

Back at the library, Twilight had been studying up on all of Rainbow’s weird behaviors, and came to a shocking conclusion.

“Ohh, Flash is going to hear about THIS one.” Twilight said angrily.

Twilight had just found out that Rainbow Dash had gotten pregnant.

How could she be so careless?

Exactly what she feared had come true. And she was not happy.

Twilight walked out her door to go see Flash. He’ll LOVE to discuss this with her.

She headed straight for the shopping district, and when she got there, she searched for Thunder Flash. She couldn’t find him. She asked some other ponies, who said he probably returned home.

“(But I thought Rainbow said he’d be at the shopping district.)” she thought. She shrugged it off, and headed for their house.

………………………

Flash was extremely tired. He had to move a ton of clouds that day, which wore him out.

“Dashie, you’re lucky you had the day off today!” he chuckled.

A while back, Flash started calling Rainbow ‘Dashie’. He didn’t really know why, but they both liked the name, so he stuck with it.

He approached front door and unlocked it. “Dashie! I’m home!” he called.

There was no answer.

He walked around a bit in search of her. No sign of her.

“Where is she?”

He entered the living room and took in the scene before him. On the couch lie Rainbow Dash, sleeping. She had a hoof in a bag of Cheetos, and the orange dust was all over her mouth. Her other hoof was on the TV remote, and the TV was still on. She must have fallen asleep while watching TV.

“Aw, that’s adorable!” He walked over and kissed her on the cheek. He then turned around and started walking to his room, when there was a knock on the door. Standing outside was Twilight.

He answered the door. “Hey Twilight, it’s been awhile! Won’t you come in?” he offered.

“Thank you.” Twilight walked inside and sat down at the kitchen table.

“Is something wrong?” Flash asked.

“Kind of, I was just concerned about something. Rainbow Dash has been acting weird, and I wanted to know if you knew what it was.” Twilight said.

Flash cringed a little. “Oh…really?” he asked.

“Yeah, like strange behaviors. Heck, last time I saw her, she was eating a coconut! I had no idea she liked coconuts!” Twilight exclaimed.

“Shh, shh!” She’s sleeping in the other room, you know.” Flash mentioned.

“She was also getting mood swings. She gave me a rude greeting, and a happy goodbye. And the conversation was twenty seconds long.” Twilight said with annoyance in her tone.

Flash sighed. “I suppose you want the full truth?”

“Yes, that would be nice.”

“Okay, well………a couple months back, I accidentally knocked her up after playing a game of Minecraft.”

“Mine…craft?” Twilight responded, confused.

“It’s a video game for the Xbox 360.” Flash answered.

“What’s an Xbox 360?”

“Man, do all the mares in town not know what video games are?” Flash thought aloud.

“I’ll have to look that up…” Twilight mumbled.

“Anyway, I’m quick to pick up on symptoms like that. That’s how I know. Rainbow Dash doesn’t know it yet. I haven’t told her, because I don’t know what her reaction will be.” He got up close and whispered in Twilight’s ear. “She’s not really the motherly type…”

Twilight thought for a moment. “Don’t tell her yet. She’ll figure out soon enough. Just please be more careful? I was afraid this would happen!”

Twilight got up and headed for the door. “I’ll see you later, Flash.”

“Bye!”

Twilight shut the door and teleported to the ground using magic. Just then, Rainbow Dash slowly got up and yawned. “Flash? What’s going on?”

Flash looked down out the window. “Nothing, Dash. Everything’s fine.”

…………………………

Fluttershy lied on Twilight’s couch, doing nothing in particular. “Where did Twilight go?” she asked Spike softly.

“I think she went to say something to a pony named Thunder Flash. Should be back any moment.” Spike replied.

Almost right on cue, Twilight walked in the door. “Hey Twilight! How’d it go?” Spike asked.

Twilight stared at him for a moment, then answered. “I just don’t know how it went…” Twilight walked up the stairs and flopped down on her bed.

Spike and Fluttershy exchanged glances. Spike walked up the stairs to Twilight. “What’s wrong, Twilight? Whatever it is, I think I should know.” Spike asked. He wasn’t taking no for an answer.

Downstairs, Fluttershy tried to make out what they were saying. She heard Twilight whisper something to Spike. She then heard Spike gasp loudly in surprise. Lastly, she heard Twilight tell him not to tell anypony.

When Spike came downstairs, he looked shaken up. Fluttershy spoke quietly. “What did Twilight tell you?” Fluttershy asked.

“She doesn’t want me to tell anyone. Sorry.” Spike replied.

“I’m one of your best friends. You can trust me!” Fluttershy promised.

Spike hesitated for a moment. He leaned in toward Fluttershy, and whispered. “Rainbow Dash got herself…you know…pregnant.” Spike cringed. So did Fluttershy. Her eyes went wide in shock.

“Don’t worry, Dash’s secret is safe with me.” Fluttershy stated.

…………………………

Rainbow sat up and stretched. “Are you sure everything’s okay?” she asked curiously.

“Yeah, everything’s fine. You might want to go wash your face, it’s covered in cheeto dust.” Flash mentioned.

Rainbow walked over to him and stroked his mane. “You don’t sound like everything is really okay. Is something bothering you?” she asked him.

Flash smiled. “Yes, I’m okay." He stared at her for a second. "If you're planning on kissing me, you should go wash up first.”

Rainbow laughed, and then walked to the bathroom. Flash walked to the living room and cleaned up some of the extra cheeto dust.

In the bathroom, he heard water running, and then a gagging noise. Suddenly, he heard splattering, and more gagging and coughing.

“Dash?! Are you okay?” Flash bolted to the bathroom and threw open the door. Inside was Rainbow Dash, bent over the toilet bowl. She looked up at him and burped.

“Man, I did NOT wanna taste those Cheetos again!” she remarked. “What the heck, I felt fine a couple minutes ago!”

Flash gulped. “Yeah, I don’t know what it is…” he lied. Rainbow gagged again.

“Could you leave me alone in here for a moment?”

“Okay…” Flash closed the door, and went to go sit in the living room.

"Damn, she's getting morning sickness." He whispered to himself, sitting down on the couch.

While he sat, he debated with himself. “(Man, should I tell her? That might not turn out well…will it? No. But then again…)”

A couple minutes later, Rainbow appeared out of the bathroom. She walked out of the bathroom and sat next to him on the couch. “Okay, I’m fine now. Let’s see if Equestria’s Funniest is on again.”

…………………………

After the show, Rainbow’s stomach growled. “Mind if I go get some snacks for us?” she asked him.

“Yeah, sure!” he answered.

Rainbow trotted to the kitchen to check the pantry. On her way there, the calendar caught her eye. She took a look at it.

From the kitchen, Flash could hear Rainbow call over to him. “Man, I forgot about my doctor’s appointment tomorrow! Looks like I’ll have to skip weather duties.”

Flash’s eyes went wide with shock. “No, you can’t see the doctor!” he suddenly blurted out.

“Why?”

“’Cause then you’ll find out you’re prffgeggity………” he sputtered as his words splatted out of control.

Rainbow laughed. “Oh no! How horrible!” she joked. “Really, why?”

Flash’s eyes darted around the room, and he sweated. “Because…I love you so much…I don’t want to see you leave.” He came up with that one out of thin air (except for the I-love-you part).

Rainbow was still laughing. “Baloney, I’ve been gone for weather and you were just fine!” She was laughing out of control. “You’re funnier than the show we were just watching!”

Flash sighed, defeated. “Fine, go to the doctor, and see what happens. Just don’t hurt me when you’re raging angry.” he said softly. He walked off to his room.

That’s it. Something was wrong with him. And Rainbow Dash was going to find out what. She followed him to his room.

When she entered, she closed the door behind her. “What’s wrong? You’ve been like this for a while. And what’s wrong with the doctor?”

Flash was close to tears. “You really want to know?”

“Absolutely.” She responded as she stroked his mane again.

“Well, you remember playing Minecraft a while back? And what we did after that?”

Rainbow chuckled. “Yeah…” She almost seemed to trail off, lost in that moment.

Flash’s throat choked up as he tried to say the next sentence. “Well…that activity got you pregnant. I just……never told you.”

Rainbow stared at him, shocked. She lowered the hoof on his mane. Suddenly, she smacked him…or tried to smack him. Her hoof swiped mid-air as his head swung out of the way.

“You forgot about my reflexes.” He stated.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” she nearly yelled.

“I didn’t know what the results would be!” he answered.

“Did you do this on purpose and decide not to tell me?!” she yelled this time.

“No, I didn’t even know it happened until a couple months later! By then I didn’t tell you, because—“

“I don’t care! You could have at least let me know! I think the pregnant one deserves to know!”

This conversation was over. She walked to the front door, and flew away.

Flash sat on the bed with tears in his eyes. “This is her worst bad luck……and it’s because of me.”

Four day weekend! That's why there's an early update. Let me know what you think about it!

A Fitting Conclusion

View Online

A couple days passed. And still no Rainbow Dash. Flash was getting really worried. He was sitting on the couch in the living room, thinking of her and when she’d return.

“With her bad luck, it’s really dangerous to be out where I don’t know.” He thought aloud.

He looked around the room at all the pictures hanging up. They were of him and Rainbow Dash doing stuff together over the months. He looked at pictures of them on birthdays, holiday weekends, even April Fools’ Day. That was a picture of him setting off a whoopee cushion, and Rainbow rolling on the floor laughing.

He chuckled at that, and then sighed. With her being the Element of Loyalty, there’s no way she can be gone long. Knowing her, she’s not someone who abandons someone else so easily, especially him. She’d bend over backwards for him. Wait…she CAN bend over backwards……

“Great! Now I’m confusing myself!” he thought.

The doorbell rang. “Don’t worry Dashie, I got it.” He suddenly realized what he had said, and then sighed.

When he answered, he saw the mare of the hour, Rainbow Dash, standing at the door. Without hesitating, he threw his arms around her. She looked pleased and surprised.

“Whoa Flash, I was only gone a few days!”

“That’s a few days too many.” He responded.

Rainbow put her arms around him as well, and they embraced for a few seconds. After that, they walked inside. Rainbow turned to him and apologized.

“I’m sorry, I just needed some time alone, nothing personal. I could never leave you. Just don’t keep secrets from your marefriend, even if it’s about her.”

Flash nodded and agreed.

…………………………

Now that the news had been broken to the library, Twilight spent most of her time studying up on the situation. Spike sat on the couch with Fluttershy, watching TV. However, Fluttershy wasn’t watching TV. She was watching Twilight. She couldn’t seem to wrap her mind around what Spike had told her.

“Spike, ever since we got that TV, you haven’t been very productive.” Twilight nagged from the other room.

“Sure I have, just not as much as usual.” He answered back.

There was a couple seconds of silence. After a while, Fluttershy changed the subject. “So is she having a colt or a filly?”

Twilight looked up at her. “How are we supposed to know? She’s only three months deep.” She responded.

“Oh…”

“Please don’t bring that up. It’s kind of creepy.” Spike added. He turned back to the TV and continued watching History Channel. “Hey Twilight, did you know there are legends of mystical beings from another world that walk on two legs? They’re called humans.”

“Yes, I’ve read up on that legend. Pinkie Pie seems to talk straight to them all the time. Something to do with the fourth wall…” She trailed off and continued her studying.

“This channel has all sorts of juicy information!” Spike mused.

………………………

Flash and Rainbow lied on their bed, doing nothing. Rainbow couldn’t help but notice something recently, so she told him. “Before we dated, Twilight didn’t approve of it. She said she’d have to clean up a physical and an emotional mess. Looks like both messes happened recently.”

“A physical mess? That’s gross.” He replied.

“That’s what I said! I didn’t know it would actually happen…” She trailed off again.

And with that, she put a hoof up to her mouth, and rushed off to the bathroom again. Flash chuckled. “Speaking of physical mess!” he called.

He heard her yell ‘Shut up!’, and then the sound of puking.

He laughed, then picked up the Xbox controller on the floor to play Minecraft again. When he reached the Minecraft logo, the little yellow text beside the title read ‘Told you so!’

Flash gasped, and then shut off the Xbox, spooked. He sat there panting. Just then, Rainbow emerged from the bathroom.

“What happened?”

“Minecraft……Minecraft happened. Here, let me show you.” Flash picked up the controller, and turned the Xbox back on. When he reached the Minecraft title, the little yellow text read ‘Why’d you turn me off?’

Flash fainted right there. Rainbow ran forward, surprised. She tried to shake him awake. “Come on, Flash. Don’t leave. Stay awake!” In one last effort, she smacked him, and he jolted awake.

“Mmm…muh…muh…”

“Minecraft, I know. It is kind of creepy.” She tried to comfort him, because he was really spooked. “Perhaps it has something to do with you…or me.” She guessed.

…………………………

Not long after this scene, Rainbow did go to visit the doctor, and got an ultrasound. Her and Flash were shocked to see they were having twins, a colt and a filly. They were both pegasi. Since then, Rainbow’s bad luck had completely vanished. Things continued much like they did for Twilight, Fluttershy and Spike, and also Flash and Rainbow. Until one day…

...........................
-Winter, 8 months later-
………………………..

Flash and Rainbow sat in the living room, thinking of names, a very difficult job for twins. Flash had a new laptop on his lap, researching. “It seems none of these names are very original. Looks like we’re gonna have to wing it.” They both sighed.

They heard a familiar voice out the front door. “Mail call!” It was Derpy.

“I’ll get it.” Rainbow offered. She struggled to get off the couch. “Help me…”

Flash laughed. He walked over and grabbed Rainbow’s hoof, and pulled her off the couch.

Rainbow trudged over to the door and answered it. Derpy got to view her for the first time in about a year. “Hey Rain……whoa, what happened to you?” She eyed Rainbow’s belly.

“Trust me, you’ll know soon enough.” She responded.

“I have a letter for you! Here.” Derpy gave Rainbow the letter, and then flew off. Rainbow walked inside and closed the door.

Flash and Rainbow both eyed the letter. It was from Twilight. Rainbow ripped open the envelope and read it out loud.

“Dear Rainbow Dash and Thunder Flash, I have done a lot of studying over the months for you, and found something. I just might have the answer you were looking for. Meet me at the library! -Twilight Sparkle” she read.

“Well? What are we waiting for?” Flash nudged.

Rainbow shrugged. “Let’s go!”

…………………………

Flash and Rainbow had to walk there, because Rainbow had an incredibly hard time flying with the extra weight. It took a much longer time, and half an hour later, they arrived. Twilight came out and greeted them.

“Flash! Rainbow! Come in.” Twilight offered. The three of them entered.

When Flash and Rainbow walked in, they were shocked to see the whole gang there. Fluttershy, Spike, Rarity, Applejack and Pinkie Pie were all there.

“Whoa, amazing!” Flash exclaimed. “This must be some big conclusion you came to!”

As Rainbow walked by, she noticed all of her friends staring at her abdomen, mouths agape. She laughed and pretended she didn’t know what the fuss was about.

“What, did I step in something?” she laughed. She walked over and sat next to Pinkie Pie. Pinkie giggled and tapped Rainbow’s belly.

“Hey, hooves off the merchandise! How do know I’m not radioactive?” she joked. All of her friends laughed.

Meanwhile, Twilight got down to business. “Alright Rainbow Dash. You remember that bad luck you had so long ago?”

Rainbow’s eyes went wide. “Yeah, I remember that!” she mused.

“Well, it wasn’t caused by Poison Joke, but it was something close. It was caused by a new ivy called Poison Wish.”

Everypony in the room said ‘What?’ simultaneously.

“Poison Wish is a plant that grants a pony’s deepest heart-desire. It doesn’t do it in a good way, though. It finds the nastiest way it can.”

“Seriously?” Rainbow asked.

“Yes. If you never had your bad luck, you’d have never met Thunder Flash. Rainbow Dash, I think I know what your deepest desire was.”

Everypony stared at Rainbow, and then at Twilight, absolutely dumbfounded at what she was saying.

“After living your life as a competitive tomcolt, your deepest desire was to have a family.” Twilight finished.

Everypony looked at Rainbow Dash. She blushed, then patted her belly. “Looks like I got my wish.” She said sweetly.

Author Notes:

Well? Did you like it? I know I did! I know my grammar isn't perfect, but hey. I'm american, not european! Anyways, don't feel down that I didn't finish things up completely. I'm actually going to write a sequel! If you want to catch it, be sure to follow me! I'll probably get it going pretty quickly. It's called A Wish in Reality. Anyway, thanks for reading Bad Luck!
