Just one week after the fourth wall incident, Ponyville went back to it’s old, calm demeanor, except for one pony.
*BOOM* “Gah! What was that?” exclaimed the purple dragon, dropping the books he was carrying.
“Spike, quit messing around. It was probably just Pinkie Pie again.” responded the purple unicorn pony.
“But what if it wasn’t? What if it was Nightmare Moon?”
*Sigh* “How many times do I have to tell you, Spike? After the other ponies and I defeated her, she turned back into Princess Luna.”
“But Twilight, you can’t be sure if you don’t check.”
“If I check, will that make you happy?”
“Yes, yes it would.”
“Fine, but I want to see this place clean when I get back.” Twilight left the tree library and headed over to Pinkie Pie’s home. Upon arrival at the front door, there was an explosion of force that knocked Twilight to the ground. “Ugg… What was that? Pinkie, are you okay?”
A pink pony’s head popped out of an upstairs room, causing Twilight to look up. “Twilight! Get the other ponies! Hurry!”
“Pinkie? What are you talking about?”
“No time to explain! Just get-” Suddenly Pinkie’s head disappeared into the window, accompanied by a scream that quickly faded out.
“Pinkie? Pinkie! Oh no. I’ve got to get the others.” Twilight galloped off toward the house of her nearest friend, Rarity.
Rarity was just putting the final touches on a new dress design when Twilight burst in scaring both Rarity and her cat.
“Oh, Twilight, it’s you. You really must stop bursting in like that. You nearly scared me half to death.”
“There’s no time for that now, Rarity. Pinkie’s in trouble!”
“Pinkie in trouble?!? What happened this time? Where is she?”
“There’s no time to explain! Just follow me!”
“What about the other ponies?”
“I sent spike to get them, now hurry up!” The two ponies dashed off towards Pinkie’s house at high speed. When they arrived, Flutter Shy, Rainbow Dash, and Apple Jack were waiting for them.
“Where have yall’ been?” Apple Jack asked as they approached, “We’ve been waiting for you.”
“Sorry, I had to wait for Rarity to go around a patch of mud, but that’s not important. We need to save Pinkie!”
“Wait!” boomed a voice before anypony could enter, “Do not go in there!” The ponies turned around and saw a tall pony with a slightly translucent mane coming towards them.
“AHHH! Nightmare Moon!” Spike yelled, cowering behind Twilight.
“Spike, calm down.” Twilight said, “It’s just Princess Luna. By the way, Princess, what are you doing here?”
“I felt a disturbance in the fabric of space around this area. I have come to make sure no pony is hurt.”
“But Pinkie Pie’s in trouble though!” Rainbow dash objected, “We have to save her!”
“Then allow me to accompany you. We do not know what could be in there.”
“Fine, but I’m not waiting up.” Rainbow said as she dashed inside. The rest of the ponies followed, but what they found there was beyond any of their imaginations.
Inside Pinkie’s room, there was a large, gaping hole in the middle of the floor. “I remember this hole.” Twilight remarked, “Pinkie called it the Fourth Wall.”
“Did you say the Fourth Wall?!?” Asked Luna, panicked, “Then this is serious.”
“Serious? How serious is it- Rarity! What are you doing?!?” Twilight yelled as she saw her friend scooting on the edge between the wall and the hole.
“I found some fabric I need!” She responded, “I’ll just grab- AIEEE!” She let out a piercing scream as her hoof slipped and she fell into the abyss.
“RARITY!” everypony yelled at once.
“I’ll save you my sweet!” Spike yelled as he jumped into the rift after Rarity.
“Spike, no!” Twilight yelled, grabbing onto his tail. Yet it seemed that the hole had a gravitational pull of it’s own, and it started pulling Twilight in as well. Everypony grabbed each other’s tails, forming a chain to pull the other two out. Suddenly the hole gave a huge tug and pulled them all in, closing after the last pony disappeared inside.
Twilight awoke to find herself and her friends in a block-filled world. “What is this place?” she wondered, “No matter, we have to find Pinkie. Come on everypony, get up.” She went around, prodding and poking all of the others until everyone was up.
“Oh, I’m not feeling so good.” Flutter Shy mumbled.
“I’m with you there shuga’ cube.” Apple Jack said, “Now where in the blue blazes are we?”
“Definitely not Equestria.” Rainbow commented.
“This is why I hath tried to warn you.” Luna said, “The fourth wall is unpredictable and can lead a pony to any dimension.”
“Girls! There you are!” said a voice behind the ponies. They spun around and saw Pinkie Pie heading towards them.
“Pinkie!” Rarity yelled, “You’re okay!”
“Of course I am, silly. I’ve been in and out of this place many times, but I can’t seem to break back through for some reason.”
“You have been here many times?” Luna asked, panicked, “Those many trips could tear a hole in the space-time continuum, causing mass havoc!”
“Calm down, Lunie, I know that there’s an exit at the end of this level.”
“I am calm just- Wait, what? Did you say level? What do you mean by that?”
“Just look up.” Everypony directed their gaze upward and saw large letters floating above them. The letters read: “World 8, Level 15, Pony Platformer”
“Well, ain’t that just the strangest thing.” Apple Jack said, “but what do they mean?”
“That means this is a game Apple!” Pinkie said, starting to bounce up and down.
“A… Game?” Luna asked, perplexed.
“Yes, for this is the game dimension.” a voice announced, “And the only way to get out is to reach the end.”
“What in tarnation? Who are you, strange voice?” Apple Jack asked.
“All will be revealed once we meet. I will be waiting.”
“Well if there’s somepony waiting for us, then let’s go!” Rainbow dash said, raring to take off.
“Hold on there shuga’ cube.” Apple Jack said, grabbing Rainbow’s tail before she could fly away, “We don’t even know if we can trust that voice.”
“Apple’s right,” Twilight said, “for all we know, it could be a trap!”
“You ponies have no sense of adventure…” The voice said.
“What?!” Rainbow raged, “You dare question my adventurousness?!?”
“Yes.”
“That’s it! I’m going to make you eat those words!” Rainbow flew straight at the castle in front of everypony and smashed a hole right to the center.
“There’s your path to the exit everypony. Now hurry up, time’s running out. By the way, there’s bunnies.”
“Bunnies?!?” Flutter Shy said, standing up rigid. She instantly started galloping off after Rainbow Dash as fast as she could.
“Rainbow! Flutter Shy! Grr… Fine. I’ll go along with your plan, strange voice, but I’m not going to fall for any traps.” Twilight said as she and the other ponies followed Flutter Shy and Rainbow Dash.
Once the other ponies caught up with the two leaders, they found themselves stuck in front of a giant door.
“Whatever will we do now?” Rarity asked, dismayed, “There’s no way to open something this massive!”
“Everypony, look!” Twilight said, “I’ve found some hoof prints with our cutie marks above them!”
“Well I’ll be,” Apple Jack said, “come on everypony, let’s all try to put our hooves on these.” They did so, and as soon as everypony made contact, the door dissolved to reveal a large hemi-sphere shaped room.
“Look, girls! I’ve found the exit!” Pinkie said, pointing to a familiar hole in space lying in the center of the room. Everypony rushed to get in, but before they could get near, the hole picked itself up off the floor and changed into a well known form to the ponies. One of their deadliest foes.
The being in front of them looked like a mash-up of every living creature imagination, but the strangest thing about it were the two pitch black eyes with red irises looking down on the ponies.
“Discord!” Twilight said, “I thought we turned you into stone?”
“Discord?” the creature wondered, “I know no one by that name. I am Chaos, and you are?”
“We don’t have time for this.” Rainbow said, “Get out of our way!”
“Come now, Rainbow Dash. No one else has introduced themselves yet.”
“You better back off Dis- I mean, Chaos! I’m going to take you down myself if I have to!”
“Oh really? I’m not that pathetic little Discord. My pain is physical, not just mental.” BAM! Rainbow Dash sprang up from the ground hitting Chaos square in the jaw, causing him to stumble backwards.
“Good, now I have a good reason to hit you like that. Come on everypony! Let’s get him!” All of the ponies started attacking the abomination in earnest. The unicorns used their magic to hurtle projectiles, the earth ponies were using a variety of melee attacks, and Flutter Shy was cowering behind all of the others. Finally, the great beast fell with a huge thud.
“Huzzah!” Luna said, “Now we can get out of here!”
“Grr… You haven’t seen the last of me!” Discord said before he winked out of reality, leaving behind a hole in space.
“Come on everypony,” Twilight said, “Let’s go meet that mystery voice.” She and the others leapt into the break, unknowing of what they would find next.
