A silly little Fluttercord one-shot

Who's Your Crush?

It was a bright, beautiful day in Equestria. Celestia's sun shown high in the sky, and the pegasi had done a good job of getting rid of the clouds. All in all, this day was perfect.

Discord hated it. He wanted to snap his talons and litter the sky with cotton candy clouds. Chocolate milk would rain down on slippery streets made of soap, creating a very wet mess. Turtles would have run as fast as cheetahs. Bears would bounce sky high. It would be wonderfully odd, simply disastrous, and fabulously chaotic.

Discord would have snapped this fantastic sight into existence if it weren't for one pony: Fluttershy. Really, Fluttershy was the savior of Equestria, the keeper of peace, the reason for order. She was all this, but no one truly realized it.

The Elements and Celestia were claimed to be the reason for Discord's reformation. Celestia was the one to order him to be reformed. The Elements were there carrying out this task.

Right?

Wrong!

Both, Celestia and the Elements (other than Fluttershy) either stood by or completely doubted his reforming process. Discord hated when ponies just grouped Fluttershy with the Elements. Many saw the Elements as one whole, but Discord saw them as six parts, only one truly qualifying for the title "Element of Friendship" in his eyes.

Fluttershy was the only pony to have any faith in him. She was his only friend, which made him rather protective of her.

He wrote her often to make sure she was okay. He visited her for picnics and tea parties. He did things that a Lord of Chaos would never do.

Then, that fateful day came that he did something a Lord of Chaos would do: Betrayal. To this day, Discord still does not know what caused for this idiotic behavior. Siding with Tirek was a mistake he would never make again. Seeing Fluttershy cry into Applejack's arms was a sight he would never have reoccur. If he was truthful, in that one moment where Fluttershy went to Applejack for comfort, Discord became jealous. He would have loved to be the one to have Fluttershy in his arms, comforting her. He couldn't, though, because he was the reason for her to need such actions.

Fluttershy being the amazing mare she was, had forgiven him as if it had never happened. If anything, that sickening experience had strengthened their friendship. Through it, they both had learned how much they meant to each other as friends.

Yeah... friends.

Though Discord would never admit it in a million years, he wished to be more than just friends with the butter colored pony. He would love to be able to hold her in his arms, bring his lips to hers, and...

No, it would never happen! If he ever even attempted such things, he would surely destroy their friendship. Let's just say the phrase, "It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all," did not apply to Discord.

Fluttershy was the reason for the sun in the sky, the grass on the ground, and the birds in the trees. She was his love, but could not be his. What Discord had not realized is that if he could not have her, he would make sure no one could.

Fluttershy had invited Discord over for tea that morning. She had prepared spiced tea and sandwiches for their outing. Before setting out with her picnic basket, she gave Angel, her devious bunny, a salad with carrots.

"Be good while I'm gone, Angel," she told him in her soft voice. "I'll be back in time for you to have your bath."

The bunny grabbed the salad from her hoof. On hearing the last part about the bath, he squeaked in his little language to her.

"Take my time?" Fluttershy repeated his words. With a chuckle, she responded, "Oh Angel, you know you need your bath. You don't want to smell stinky, do you?"

Angel shrugged his little white shoulders as if to say, "Sure, if it means I don't need a bath."

Fluttershy smiled and shook her head. She grabbed her basket in her mouth and set off for her and Discord's favorite spot on the hill. She didn't want to be late.

At this same time, Discord was arriving at the hill. He looked down to see Fluttershy climbing up it. She could've flown, being a pegasus, but everyone time she tried, she seemed to wobble and fall.

Discord snapped his talons and appeared at her side. Without saying a word, he took her and her basket in his mismatched arms. Then, he snapped his talons again, making them appear on his original spot on the hill.

"Oh thank you, Discord," Fluttershy said with a smile.

"Anything for you, my dear," he replied with a mock bow.

He received a giggle for his actions, which caused him to smile. Her laugh reminded him of a bell; soft yet hard to forget. He knew that laugh would stay with him forever.

"Well, let's eat!" Discord exclaimed, breaking the silence that had come when he'd been thinking.

Fluttershy opened the basket and brought out the sandwiches along with the teapot filled with her spiced tea. Discord snapped two tea cups into existence, which Fluttershy poured the tea into. Then, they began to talk... Well, at least Discord did. Fluttershy listened and nodded as he talked about the tasks Princess Celestia was making him do.

"I had to go to Saddle Arabia and stop this huge sandstorm," Discord remarked to her. "The little towns were completely covered with sand. With my help, the towns were dug up, and we even found this golden ark looking thing. Apparently, it's been lost for ages, so for finding it, I'm now a hero there."

"You're a hero here, too," Fluttershy reminded him.

"I don't think so, dear Fluttershy," he sighed.

She went up to him and gave him a hug. He wasn't quite used to these yet, but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy them.

"You are to me," she whispered in his ear.

Discord froze. I am?

The hug ended sooner than Discord wanted. There was a longing look in his eye, but he covered it up with a smirk.

"You must have very low standards for who you consider a hero, Fluttershy," Discord teased.

Fluttershy rolled her eyes.

After they had both finished their lunches, the duo headed down the hill. Discord had offered to walk her home. He knew he could just teleport her there, but he wanted this sweet moment to last.

Once they reached the door to her little cottage, Fluttershy turned to him and smiled.

"Thank you, Discord. This was very fun," she whispered.

"Always a pleasure, my dear," he replied.

In the background, Angel watched the two look at each other with longing. He rolled his eyes and thought to himself, Kiss already.

With one last smile, Fluttershy slowly closed the door. She turned to Angel with a dreamy smile.

"He's such a gentlepony," she sighed. "He knows how to make me laugh and smile. Sure, the girls do it too, but when he does it, it's just for me. I feel so special, wanted, needed around him."

Then, quickly remembering Angel, Fluttershy picked him up in her hooves and took him to the bath tub. She turned the water on and put him in. The rambunctious bunny tried to escape but Fluttershy was able to keep him in.

In order to get back at Fluttershy for this horrible bath, Angel started squeaking, "Fluttershy and Discord sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G,"

"Oh Angel," Fluttershy sighed. "I wish."

Angel started squeaking again.

"You think I have a crush on him?" Fluttershy asked.

As soon as Fluttershy shut the door, Discord started contemplating the pros and cons of spying on her. If he was caught, Fluttershy would be pretty mad at him for betraying her privacy, but if he watched, he could protect her if needed. Naturally, Discord chose the more exciting of the two options. He snapped his talons, making himself invisible. Then, he slowly opened the door. Right away, his ears picked up the sound of running water.

She's in the bathroom. What if she's showering? I can't go in there, even if I really want to... No, that would be a new low, even for me.

Instead of going in, Discord put his ear to the door.

"You think I have a crush on him?"

Discord gasped. He quickly returned his ear to its previous location to see if he could hear any more about Fluttershy's mysterious crush. All he did hear was the devil bunny rambling followed by a giggle from Fluttershy.

"Oh Angel, you are so sweet and unnecessarily protective," she laughed. "You know he wouldn't hurt me. Anyways, your bath is done. Time to get you ready for bed."

Realizing this had been the bunny's bath, Discord sighed. Suddenly, the door knob started to turn. Discord, seeing this, quickly flashed to the Everfree Forest. There, he summoned a color changing stump to sit on. As he sat, the stump started flashing between the colors red, blue, and green, based on his mood.

Fluttershy cannot have a crush. I can't lose her. She means so much to me. What am I going to do? I gotta get rid of that stupid stallion. He will pay! Wait, what's his name? I'll have to ask Fluttershy. No, I can't because she'll know I spied. Plus, when I get rid of him, she'll know it's me. I need to be sneaky. Hmm... Where to look? Her diary! She's bound to have something about him in there. Wait a second, isn't this bordering on obsession? She wasn't even mine to begin with. Oh, I'm desperate. What have you reduced me to, Fluttershy?

"Good night, Angel," Fluttershy whispered, soothingly.

Discord watched invisible from the window. Stuck in a daze from her beautiful voice, he murmured quietly, "I need to focus and find that diary. Oh, but her voice is so sweet."

The little bunny chirped a little, to which Fluttershy nodded her head.

"Sweet dreams, my little Angel. I love you so very much."

The bunny's eyes seemed to fight Fluttershy silky voice, but finally gave into the exhaustion. She pulled the blanket up on top of him. Making sure he was tucked in, Fluttershy pushed the blanket in on his sides.

Discord watched all this with a faraway look in his eye. She really was so good with animals. He felt his eyes start to close, but let them.

Fluttershy slowly walked out of the room, so as not to wake her precious bunny. Once she had left, Discord could hear, for the second time that day, running water. He quickly snapped out of his little daze.

Now that she's gone, I can look for that diary. It's probably in her room; I'll go there first. Well, maybe after I chance a peek in the bathroom... Nope, nada, not gonna happen. You are not going there. That's way too obsessive... What if she needs help? Yeah, keep telling yourself that's why you want to go in there.

Finally shaking himself out of his thoughts, Discord headed to Fluttershy's room. He'd been to her house enough to know the way.

Upon reaching the door, Discord swung it open. He quickly bolted inside, and shut it again. Rather desperately, Discord started to rifle through the the mare's dresser. Finding nothing but some outfits that he thought she would look rather beautiful in.

Oh, what am I kidding. She'd look beautiful in anything...or nothing... Focus!

Next, the draconequus started to open her nightstand. Sitting there, in the first drawer he opened, was a book with the words, My Diary, written in fancy print.

"That was almost too easy," Discord smirked, thinking out loud.

"Too easy, eh? I'll have to make it harder next time."

Discord whipped around to see a rather angry (but stunning) looking Fluttershy in the doorway. She had a look that did not fall short of The Stare. On her head and body, towels were wrapped. From the mare's hooves dripped water.

"How did you-"

"Angel told me."

That's what the devil rabbit was chirping about before. He's gonna-

"Do you mind telling me why, in the whole wide world of Equestria, you need my diary?" Fluttershy inquired.

"Oh, um, w-well, you see-"

"And don't even try lying to me. I may not be Applejack, but I can tell a lie when I hear one."

Her voice had an edge to it that Discord had never heard before, so rather than ruining their suddenly rocky friendship, he told her the truth.

"I may have overhead you telling your demon rabb-, I mean Angel about you having a crush. I thought if I found your diary, I could find out who he was."

Fluttershy's eyes twinkled for a second before she responded slyly, "Is that so? Why would you care so much if I had a crush?"

Discord looked for an answer that would not completely embarrass him in front of the mare he loved.

"You see I-, Well, um... I got nothing."

Fluttershy could see he was uncomfortable with the situation, but she knew he had to admit this. She couldn't have another situation like this happen again.

"Were you, by any chance, jealous?"

The faint yet growing blush on his cheeks was enough to answer her question.

"Now Discord, do you acknowledge that spying on me was wrong?"

"Yes."

"Do you promise that it will never happen again?"

"Yes."

"Are you jealous?"

"Yes."

"Do you love me?"

"Ye-, Wait what?"

Fluttershy merely tapped her hoof on the floor and looked at him expectantly.

"Yes."

Fluttershy smiled up at him and whispered, a blush glowing on her own cheeks, "Then, I think there's one last thing that needs to be done."

Discord looked at her, confused.

Slowly, Fluttershy flew up to him. She smiled reassuringly at him, and with that, they kissed.

A million years passed faster than I thought.
