> Canterlot High School Tales - A Secret Friendship > by UnknownCutieMarkCrusader > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Before the storm > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Say that again, I dare you!” Scootaloo yelled her face turning red. “I said your three are the lamest girls in all of Canterlot High,” Diamond Tiara said smiling rather sinisterly. Sweetie Belle moved in front of Scootaloo and Applebloom holding them back from what was clearly a fight waiting to happen. “Come on girls, she isn’t worth it,” Sweetie said trying her best to hold back her two friends. “But Sweetie Belle...those two are asking for it,” Applebloom said glaring at Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon “The only thing we are asking for is for the world to be rid of losers like you,” Silver Spoon said venomously. “Oh that’s it!” Scootaloo yelled trying to push past Sweetie Belle but Sweetie Belle held her ground. “Don’t stoop to their level Scoots,” Sweetie Belle pleaded. “Our first day of high school is tomorrow, we probably won’t even have classes with them.” The idea of this seemed to calm Scootaloo and Applebloom down. For years the three girls had to endure bullying from Diamond and Silver, but at last it seemed a light was at the end of the tunnel. Canterlot High School would hopefully bring an end to this war of words between the two groups by separating them in the classroom. The three friends walked off without another word as the two bullies laughed at their retreat. “Why do we always run,” Scootaloo said bitterly. * * * “Ugh I hate this,” Sweetie Belle said into her cell phone. “I know, it terrible,” Silver Spoon responded. Unknown to their friends Sweetie Belle and Silver Spoon had formed a strong friendship in secret. “I know we agreed to make sure this rivalry never gets violent but I don’t know how long we can keep it up,” Sweetie Belle laid back on her bed. “I know you don’t mean it but your words hurt you know.” “I’m so sorry,” Silver sighed “I hate saying those things to you and your friends...I wish I could convince Diamond to lay off you guys.” “With any luck we won’t need to. If we don’t have any classes together this whole war between us may fizzle out….I hope,” Sweetie looked over at her school uniform that was hanging from her closet door. “Hey Silvy have you tried on your school uniform yet? I bet you look cute in it.” Silver Spoon giggled “Please, if anyone looks cute in those things it’s you.” Sweetie frowned “What? You don’t like our school uniforms?” “I simply don’t understand why we have to wear the same thing everyday. What’s the point in me having a huge wardrobe if I can’t show it off?” Silver huffed. “Aww does someone need a hug?” Sweetie Belle said in a sing song voice. “Verry funny,” Silver said trying to hold back a laugh. “Can you imagine what our friends would say if they saw us hugging?” “I think Scootaloo’s and Applebloom’s mouths would never stop hanging open,” Sweetie Belle and Silver Spoon both laughed. “Sweetie Belle,” Silver Spoon said in a soft voice “I hope….we have a class together….just the two of us, you know...without Diamond and Applebloom and Scootaloo.” “Me too Silvy,” Sweetie said in an equally soft voice “goodnight Silver Spoon.” “Goodnight Sweetie.” > Warmth > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next day Sweetie Belle and her two friends set off for Canterlot High. "Why do we have to wear these uniforms?" Scootaloo said grabbing the hem of her skirt. "Could these skirts be any shorter?" "Well that's what you get for saying you're a small when you are actually a medium," Applebloom laughed. "Didn't you try it on when you first got it?" " I meant to but," Scootaloo pulled down on her shirt trying to cover her slightly exposed midriff “well...it’s not that bad right? Maybe some guys will find it sexy.” The girls reached the school and said goodbye to each other as they headed towards their first class. Sweetie Belle entered her first classroom and sat down at a desk near the window. The morning sun shined brightly on her body making her feel warm and comfortable. She closed her eyes and laid back in her chair enjoying the warmth. “Well you sure look like you are in heaven,” came a voice right next to her. Sweetie opened her eyes and saw Silver Spoon sitting next to her. “I am in heaven now because I just saw an angel,” Sweetie said smiling. “That is so cheesy,” Silver said blushing slightly. “Hey you set me up for it,” Sweetie said “Looks like we got our wish huh?” “Yeah but…,” Silver frowned. “What is it?” Sweetie asked “I just came from Diamonds first classroom and your friends are in her class,” Silver said. Sweetie Belle stood up and her eyes widened “oh no….and we are not there to keep them apart. What are we going to do? I have to go see them,” Sweetie started to run towards the door but Silver stood up and blocked her path stretching her arms out. Sweetie ran into Silvers outstretched arms. “It’s going to be ok,” Silver said stroking Sweetie Belle’s hair. “I’m scared too, but running in there all panic stricken is not going to help.” Silver….Silver is hugging me! Sweetie thought to herself. Sweetie Belle’s body was now warmed not by the sunlight but by the warmth of her friend. A friend she had longed to hold, a friend she longed to embrace. Sweetie raised her arms and wrapped them around Silver Spoon. Silver tightened her hold on Sweetie Belle. She too had longed for this moment to hold her secret friend. It was as if all the time they spent away from each other, forced to hide their friendship, was now a memory and this moment was their moment together. “You’re so warm,” Silver said. “You are too,” Sweetie whispered in Silvers ear. The two girls pulled back slightly. Arms still wrapped around each other they looked into one another's eyes. It was as if they were really seeing each other for the first time. Sweetie Belle’s heart started to beat faster. “Sweetie Belle,” Silver whispered. “Yes?” Sweetie said her heart racing. “People are staring,” Silver said. The two girls quickly let go of each other and sat down at their desks blushing furiously. > Boiling Point > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “What makes you so sure our friends won’t fight in that class?” Sweetie asked once everyone had stopped looking in their direction. “Diamond is smarter than that, she won’t bully two of your friends without me there to back her up,” Silver said adjusting her glasses. “Okay… but what about my friends starting something?” Sweetie said a look of nervousness evident on her face. “Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Applebloom would start anything but Scootaloo recently has been….shall we say…. aggressive towards Diamond.” “It will be ok,” Silver said reaching over and putting her hand on Sweeties shoulder. “Let’s just focus on getting through this class. I do have a grade point average to keep up you know.” “Alright,” Sweetie said smiling. “By the way, you look cute in that uniform.” *** “Time for gym class,” Sweetie said to herself as she walked to the girls locker room. She changed into her gym uniform and made her way onto the school field where her class was held. While she waited for the rest of her classmates Sweetie decided to do some stretching. She sat on the ground and leaned her body forward. Not as flexible as I use to be, curse those Sugarcube Corner treats she thought to herself. “Well who do we have here?” Sweetie Belle’s heart sank as she recognized the voice. She turned around to see Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon behind her. “Smelly Belle isn’t it?” Diamond said mockingly. “It’s Sweetie Belle,” Sweetie said quietly to herself. “What’s that?” Diamond continued “I can hardly make out what your saying in that squeaky voice of yours.” “Back off Diamond,” came a voice. Sweetie looked to see both Applebloom and Scootaloo coming her way. Diamond and Silver took one look at Scootaloo and burst out with laughter. “Oh my Celestia, what is going on there?” Diamond said pointing at Scootaloo. Much like her school uniform Scootaloo’s gym uniform was too small for her. Her shirt and shorts were so tight it was a marvel she could move at all without ripping them. “I thought you looked ridiculous in your school uniform but that!” Diamond and Silver continued to laugh as Scootaloo’s face turned red with both anger and embarrassment. “Shut up!” Scootaloo yelled “I...just got the wrong size.” “You sure?” Diamond asked “Or are you just putting on a few extra pounds?” “Why you little…” Scootaloo started but was interrupted by the gym teachers whistle blowing. “Alright everyone line up for dodgeball,” the Teacher said. “This is perfect,” Scootaloo said after the teams were decided. She as well as Sweetie and Applebloom were facing off against Diamond and Silver’s team. “I am going to take Diamonds head off with this ball,” Scootaloo said smiling sinisterly. The teacher blew the whistle and Scootaloo rushed onto the field to pick up a ball that had Diamond’s name on it. She found a ball and bent over to pick it up, at the same time a loud ripping sound echoed throughout the field. “Scootaloo! Your shorts!” Applebloom started but Scootaloo didn’t need her to finish, she knew what had happened. Why did I have to wear my pink panties today? Scootaloo asked herself as a roar of laughter emitted from her classmates. “I told you you had to lose a few pounds Dorkaloo,” Diamond yelled at Scootaloo. In a fit of anger Scootaloo picked up the ball and threw it as hard as she could at Diamonds face. Diamond was ready and jumped out of the way, but Silver wasn’t so lucky. The ball hit Silver square in the face shattering her glasses and knocking her on her back. “SILVER SPOON!” Sweetie and Diamond both cried out. Sweetie ran to her fallen friend lifting Silvers head off the ground. “Get away from her you bitch!” Diamond yelled pushing Sweetie away from Silver. “Hey, she was only trying to help,” Applebloom said as she helped Sweetie Belle up. Diamond wasn’t listening as she held her unconscious friend close. “Silver...Silver...please snap out of it!” Tears started to roll down Diamonds face as blood started to roll down Silver’s. Diamond looked up at Scootaloo, her face was soaked with tears and twisted in anger. “If you got glass in her eye I swear to Celestia I will make you sorry,” she screamed. “It was an accident,” Sweetie Belle said her eyes filling with tears. “Tell her Scootaloo, you didn’t mean it right?” Scootaloo said nothing. Her eyes fixated on the unconscious bleeding Silver Spoon and the crying Diamond Tiara. “SCOOTALOO!” Applebloom yelled. Scootaloo shook her head. “I….I...um...I got to go change,” Scootaloo ran off in the direction of the school. “Get the school nurse while you are at it!” yelled the gym teacher. > Flashback > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sweetie Belle paced around her room holding her cell phone in her hand. She had called Silver Spoon many times but she never picked up. Sweetie’s pace quickened as she tried her best to stay calm. “Silver...please be ok,” She said to herself “If anything were to happen to you….oh why can’t our friends get along?” Sweetie Belle fell face first onto her bed and sighed. She thought back to when she and Silver became friends as she waited to hear from her secret friend. The rain started coming down as Sweetie Belle ran for shelter. “Where did this rain come from anyway?” She said angrily. She finally made it to a small covered bench near a bus stop. “Not too bad” Sweetie said looking herself over “didn’t get too wet, hopefully this doesn’t last” Thunder boomed in the distance as the drizzle became a downpour. “OH COME ON!” she yelled. Sweetie Belle sat down on the bench and watched the rain fall. Suddenly through the downpour she saw a figure running around. “Silver Spoon?” Silver seemed unaware of Sweetie’s dry sanctuary. “Silver! Over here!” Sweetie yelled. Silver looked over and after hesitating for a moment she ran to Sweetie’s side. “Thanks,” Silver Spoon panted as she sat down on the bench.Silver was soaked from head to toe, she took of her glasses and tried to dry them off on her wet dress but accomplished nothing. “Here, let me,” Sweetie said taking Silvers glasses and wiping them off on her shirt. “There, better?” she asked as Silver put her glasses back on and gasped. “You?!” Silver said her eyes widening. “What? What’s wrong Silver?” “If I had know it was you calling me….my glasses were...I couldn’t see,” Silver crossed her arms and turned away from Sweetie Belle. “So you're saying if you knew it was me you would have stayed in the pouring rain?” Sweetie said raising an eyebrow. “Maybe,” Silver replied “better than sharing this shelter with you.” “Well no one is making you stay here, just go!” Sweetie said angrily. Silver stood up and looked out at the pouring rain. She gulped as she started to walk back out into the rain. Before she could go back into the rain she felt a hand grab her own. “I’m sorry,” Sweetie Belle said “ I didn’t mean it,” Silver let out a sigh of relief as she sat back down on the bench next to Sweetie Belle. “I’m sorry too,” Silver said “I was just….surprised that...you know...you helped me. Even after everything I have said to you over the years.” Sweetie Belle smiled and looked back out at the rain. A few minutes passed as the girls sat in silence. ”Hey, can I ask you something?” Sweetie said after a while. “Sure,” Silver replied. “Do you really mean all those things you say to me and my friends?” Sweetie asked not looking in Silver’s direction. Silver remained quiet for a moment then replied “no...not really,” Sweetie turned to Silver a look of confusion on her face. “Then...why do you do it?” Sweetie asked. Silver Spoon shrugged. “I just...follow Diamond’s lead...it’s what I have always done,” Silver looked down at the ground. “To be honest I don’t even know why Diamond does it. If it is any consolation...I don’t hate you guys.” Sweetie Belle inched closer to Silver “To be honest, I don’t hate you either. In fact in a way I have always kind of admired you,” Silver looked at Sweetie as if she had just said a really bad word. “What? Admired me? How so?” “You always have this air of grace and confidence about you. You always dress in the most stylish and beautiful clothes and jewelry. To be honest I’m a bit jealous,” Sweetie smiled weakly. “If anyone should be jealous it should be me,” Silver said “you and your friends have such a strong bond and everyone seems to like you guys.” Silver began to shiver violently. “Oh no!” Sweetie yelled “we have to get you warm.” “And h..h..how do we d..d..do that?” Silver said through chattering teeth. Sweetie thought for a moment then wrapped her arms around Silvers cold and wet body. “H..hey!” Silver protested. “You got a better idea?” Sweetie said. Silver fell silent as Sweetie’s body started to warm her. Silver couldn’t believe the kindness Sweetie was giving to her after all the torment she and Diamond had given her. The rain started to slowly fade as time went by. “I think we are good to go now” Silver said. Sweetie released Silver from her embrace. The front of Sweetie Belle’s clothes were all soaked but she couldn’t help but smile. “There now that wasn’t so bad was it?” Silver blushed “but...your clothes,” Sweetie just laughed. “It’s just a little water,” she said “now come on let’s get you home, I’ll walk with you.” Sweetie and Silver walked through the rain soaked town blissfully unaware that they were actually holding hands. “By the way Silver, you look really cute in that dress.” Sweetie said smiling at her still soaked companion. “It looks better when its dry,” Silver said “I like your um….skirt,” she added awkwardly. “Thanks,” Sweetie Belle said “made it myself. My sister Rarity makes outfits and I have been learning from her.” “Wow, cool,” Silver said “so um...do you think we could hang out more after today?” Sweetie Belle stopped in her tracks. “Really?” she asked. “Well...yeah, I enjoyed hanging out with you and I think we can be friends.” “But what about Diamond and the others?” Sweetie asked. Silver bit her lip “Oh yeah forgot about that. How about we keep it a secret?” “You sure?” Sweetie said hesitantly “Maybe we could convince the others to be friends. Or at the very least keep them from killing each other.” “Sounds like a plan to me,” Silver said. The two girls finally reached a large mansion surrounded by a large silver gate. “Well this is my place,” Silver said “Thanks for today Sweetie Belle.” “Your welcome. See you soon I hope,” The two girls smiled at each other and parted ways. *** “But we weren’t able to change our friends minds were we?” Sweetie said to herself as she laid on her bed. “They are just so stubborn.” Sweetie Belle looked at her phone and dialed Silver’s number once again. > The Meeting > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Hello?” Silver Spoon said into her cell phone. “Silver! Thank Celestia you picked up,” Sweetie said letting out a sigh of relief. “How are you doing? Why didn’t you pick up before?” “Sorry,” Silver said “Diamond was here with me for most of the day and I don’t think she would have liked me answering the phone if you were the one calling.” “She still angry?” Sweetie asked knowing full well what the answer was. “Yeah, my injuries are minor. Just a few cuts on my face but Diamond is pretty mad at you guys,” Silver sighed. “I tried to explain to her that it was an accident but you know how stubborn she is.” “I know, my friends are the same way,” Sweetie rolled over on her bed and looked at a picture on her mantle. In the picture stood herself and Silver holding hands in front of the town fountain. It was one of the few times both of them were truly happy, a time away from all the fighting. Sweetie and Silver both longed for more times like that one. “Silver...this has to stop. The secret I mean. Our friends deserve to know what is going on.” “I agree,” Silver said. “Right now does not seem like the best time though. How about if we wait a bit for our friends to cool down from todays accident? I think if we tell them now it will only result in more fighting.” “Alright,” Sweetie agreed. “Hey, remember when we first became friends?” “On that rainy day? Yeah, I remember,” Silver Spoon smiled as the memory came back to her. Sweetie remembered how she felt when she was with Silver and remembered how earlier that day she was in her arms. Sweetie had never felt such bliss. “Silver….I miss you so much,” Sweetie said her eyes starting to water. “We have only been apart for a few hours.” Silver started before Sweetie interrupted. “That’s not what I mean. I miss being with you, the real you. I want to hang out with you in public again. I want us to have no worries. I just want to….be with you.” “I feel the same way,” Silver said her own voice trembling. Silver could hear the sorrow in her friends voice and fought against her own tears. “Let’s set up a time just for us. How about we set aside a few minutes before our class.” “Ok, and how about we meet under that big tree on the side of the school,” Sweetie said. “It’s a date,” Silver said making both of them blush. The next day Sweetie Belle made her way to the big tree where she and Silver agreed to meet. It had rained a few hours ago, the air was muggy and the ground was muddy but she walked with a spring in her step as she arrived at the school. “I’m coming Silvy,” Sweetie said to herself with glee. She walked over to the side of the school until the big old tree came into view. Silver Spoon was there leaning against the tree, waiting for her. “Silvy!” Sweetie called running toward her. “Hi Sweetie Be...WHOAH!” Silver yelled as Sweetie Belle jumped on her. “I missed you,” Sweetie said wrapping her arms and legs around Silver. “Sweetie, I can’t hold you...ahh!” Silver fell backwards plunging both of them into a big mud puddle. “Sweetie get off!” Silver yelled. “No!” Sweetie said squeezing her friend. “Sweetie, I can’t breath,” Silver wheezed. She turned over so Sweetie would be on the bottom but Sweetie still held on. After a minute of holding her friend Sweetie finally let go. “Sorry, I couldn’t control myself,” Sweetie said as she sat up. “You got us all filthy!” Silver said angrily as she stood up and tried to wring the muddy water out of her skirt. Sweetie smiled as she continued to sit in the puddle. “Why are you smiling?” Silver asked in an annoyed tone. “I think this is the first time you are actually angry with me,” Sweetie said happily. “It’s kinda cute.” Silver blushed although Sweetie couldn’t tell due to Silver’s face being covered in mud. Silver took off her slightly mud stained glasses and looked for something to wipe them off on. “You wouldn’t happen to have a clean towel or something on you would you Sweetie?” “Nope,” Sweetie said happily splashing around in the puddle. Silver couldn’t help but smile as she watched her friend splash around like a little kid. This was a side of Sweetie Belle few ever saw. The happy child like aura that surrounded her was infectious and Silver found herself kneeling down in the puddle in front of Sweetie Belle. “Boop,” Silver said as she poked Sweetie’s nose. Sweetie Belle let out a small squeak before retaliating. “Boop,” Sweetie said as she poked Silvers nose. Both girls started laughing. Neither one thought in a million years that they would be so happy sitting in a mud puddle with someone they once considered their enemy. The school bell rang as the girls quickly stood up. “We are going to be late!” Silver cried. The pair ran through the school, the sound of their wet shoes echoed throughout the hallway until they finally reached the classroom. “We made it!” Sweetie said as she opened the door causing their classmates to look in their direction. A silence spread across the room as the students looked at the two wet, mud covered girls. “Um….we can explain,” Sweetie started. “.....No we can’t,” Silver said as she hid behind Sweetie Belle. > The Locker Room Chat > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sweetie Belle made her way to the girls locker room for gym class. “That was so embarrassing,” she said to herself. Her clothes were still mud stained but at least they were dry. Sweetie looked forward to putting on some clean clothes, even if it was just her gym uniform. As she reached her gym locker Applebloom and Scootaloo approached her. “What in the name of oats and apples happened to you?” Applebloom asked. “It’s nothing,” Sweetie said. Scootaloo’s eyes narrowed. “Are you sure? You didn’t get into a fight with Silver Spoon or anything?” “What...what makes you say that Scootaloo?” Sweetie asked trying not to sound nervous. Scootaloo pointed over in Silver Spoons direction. Diamond and Silver were busy talking, Silver still dressed in her mud covered uniform. “Call me crazy but I don’t think Silver is the type to cover herself in mud, plus I heard other students saying you two got in a fight before class,” Scootaloo looked into Sweetie’s eyes as a look of concern came across her face. “It’s ok to tell us if those two bitches did anything to hurt you Sweetie.” “Silver would never hurt me, and don’t call her a bitch!” Sweetie yelled angrily making Applebloom and Scootaloo step back. “Whoa there girl,” Applebloom said putting her hand on Sweetie’s shoulder. “I...I’m sorry,” Sweetie Belle said looking down at her feet. Scootaloo rubbed her chin. “What do you mean Silver would never hurt you?” Scootaloo asked her eyes narrowing once again. Sweetie tried to stay calm. “You know...because...she is all bark and no bite, you guys know that right? Now come on lets change or we are going to be late.” Applebloom and Scootaloo both shrugged and proceeded to change. “Just remember Sweetie Belle, we care about you so don’t hesitate to tell us if anything is up,” Applebloom said. “Aww thanks Bloom, group hug!” Sweetie said as she hugged her two friends. Meanwhile at the other end of the locker room Diamond and Silver were having their own conversation. “Nice to see you finally took my advice on taking a mud bath, but next time take off your clothes first,” Diamond said sarcastically. “You may laugh but I have never felt more beautiful,” Silver said Smiling. The two friends laughed as they changed into their gym uniforms.Suddenly Diamond took Silver by the hand. “Hey, what are you doing?” Silver said surprised. “Sorry Silver, but I can’t let you wander around school with your hair a mess like that,” Diamond led Silver to a nearby sink and placed a chair in front of it. “Sit down and lean back, I will do the rest.” Silver sat down and leaned her head back into the sink as Diamond took a small bottle of shampoo from her bag. “You always keep that with you?” Silver asked. “Of coarse,” Diamond said putting some of the shampoo in her hands. “How else do you think I keep this perfect apperance up?. Also you never know when your friend will get mud in their hair.” Diamond Started rubbing and massaging Silvers head. Silver closed her eyes as Diamond’s fingers ran through her hair. It felt so good, it was like getting a professional massage. “Diamond...when did you get so good at this?” Silver asked in a voice that sounded like she was in heaven. “You don’t go the salon as many times as I do without picking up a few things,” Diamond said in a similar voice. “Silver...I don’t know if I ever told you this but your hair is so beautiful.” Silver blushed as Diamond went on. “It always shines like silk whenever the sun hits it, why do you insist on keeping your hair braided? Hair like yours should flow freely, it is practically a crime against beauty if you don’t.” Diamond continued to wash Silvers hair as Silver smiled. For a while there she almost had forgotten how close she and Diamond where. “Remember when we were kids and we use to always give each other makeovers?” Silver said trying not to laugh at the memory. “Yeah, boy was my mom mad we used all her makeup,” Diamond said giggling. “I don’t care what your mom said, I made you gorgeous,” Silver said proudly. The two friends laughed as Diamond turned off the water and reached for a nearby towel. “Just one more thing,” Diamond said as she rubbed Silvers head with the towel. She reached into her bag again and pulled out a hair brush and started to brush Silvers hair. Silver sat in silence while her friend brushed her long silver hair. She remembered how they would spend what felt like hours brushing each others hair and talking. Silver felt her bond with Diamond Tiara could never be broken….except by one thing. The thing she was keeping a secret from her, the secret friendship with Sweetie Belle. “Diamond,” Silver said in a serious voice. “Why do we bully those three girls?” Diamond stopped brushing. “Where is this coming from all of a sudden?” Diamond asked her voice just as serious. “It’s just that, they never did anything to us when we first met so….why bully them?” “Why bring this up now Silver?” Diamond asked her voice starting to sound angry. Silver sensed the angry slowly rising in her friends voice as Diamond continued to speak. “Have you grown soft on me? Have you started...dare I say it...feeling sorry for those three?” “No, of course not,” Silver said quickly. “Need I remind you what they did the other day?” Diamond said her hand gripping her hairbrush tightly. “That was an accident,” Silver said. Diamond laughed. “Oh Silver don’t be foolish. They may have hit you with the ball but it was meant for me, so as I see it they have declared war. They threw the first punch.” Diamond Tiara’s eyes burned with hatred as she glared at Scootaloo, Applebloom, and Sweetie Belle who were making their way out of the locker room. Silver sighed and stood up. Silver knew Diamond was not a bad person, not a violent person. There was something Diamond was not telling her. “Thanks for washing my hair Diamond,” Silver said smiling at her friend. Diamond turned back to Silver, her face now wore a smile just as kind. “Your welcome Silvy,” she said. “Bump, bump, sugar lump rump!” the two girls said in unison as they bumped their hips together. They both shared a hug then made their way to the school field. > A Night to Remember > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sweetie Belle started to sweat as she ran on the school track. She wasn’t use to this much exercise on a regular basis and envied Scootaloo and Applebloom who seemed to be have no problem running around the track. The only two girls who seemed to make Sweetie look good where Diamond and Silver, who appeared to have ran hardly ever in their life. If nothing else this meant the two warring factions stayed apart. Sweetie Belle stopped momentarily to catch her breath as Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon came staggering up behind her. Sweetie half expect Daimond to throw an insult her way but it seemed Diamond was too busy trying to not collapse from exhaustion. As Silver pasted Sweetie she grabbed Sweetie’s hand and let go just as quick leaving a small note behind. Sweetie looked at the note and read, meet me at the tree after school ~Silver. Sweetie heart skipped a beat, or maybe she was having a heart attack from overexerting herself, either one wouldn’t have surprised her. Sweetie crumbled up the note and threw it at a nearby trash can. “Two points,” she said as the note flew threw the air hitting the rim of the trash can and falling onto the ground. “OH COME ON!” Sweetie yelled. After school Silver waited under the tree where she told Sweetie to meet her. She smiled as she looked at the now dry mud that she and Sweetie rolled in that morning. Her heart began to beat faster as she anticipated seeing her secret friend again. “Silver!” Sweetie Belle called as she made her way towards her. “Hello Sweetie Belle,” Silver said “Something wrong?” Sweetie asked looking concerned “Nothing’s wrong, I just...wanted to ask you something,” Silver said her face turning slightly red. “Would you...like to spend the night at my place?” Sweetie’s face lit up as her heart felt like it would jump out of her chest. “ I would love too!” Sweetie squeaked. “Well then, this way my lady,” Silver said in a overly exaggerated classy voice. “I am going to show you the perks of being with a member of high society.” They both laughed as they headed out. After walking for a while the two reached Silver’s mansion. Sweetie hadn’t seen this place since the day the two became friends. She always wondered what the inside looked like and couldn’t believe she was about to not only see it, but spend the night in it as well. “Welcome to my humble home,” Silver said as she opened the large double door to her home. “I hope you’re not allergic to heaven.” Sweetie Belle’s mouth dropped open as she stared into Silver Spoon’s home. The main hall was enormous and filled with the fanciest furniture she had ever seen. The walls and floor shimmered as if they were made of silver themselves. Sweetie slowly stepped forward her mouth still open when suddenly she heard a voice right behind her. “May I take your bag madam?” the voice said. Sweetie squeaked and twirled around to face a tall old man dressed in a black suit. “Who?...What?...huh?!” Sweetie panted. “Thank you, Sebastian,” Silver said handing the man her bag as well as Sweetie Belle’s. “He is my butler.” Silver whispered to Sweetie. Silver then snapped her fingers. “Sebastian this is Sweetie Belle, she is our guest tonight and I trust you and the others will treat her as you would me.” “Of course,” Sebastian said bowing. “It will be our pleasure to serve you, lady Belle.” “Um...just Sweetie is fine,” Sweetie said, not sure of what to make of all that was going on around her. “Come on Sweetie,” Silver said grabbing Sweetie’s hand. “There is something we have to take care of.” “What’s that?” Sweetie asked as Silver led her upstairs. “We are still dirty and sweaty from school today so we must make ourselves presentable by taking a shower,” Silver explained. Sweeties face turned beat red. “A….a shower...we?” she stammered. Silver’s face turned red as well. “I mean in different bathrooms of course,” she said quickly. Silver led Sweetie to a large door. “This is your bathroom, leave your clothes outside the door. My maids will collect them and wash them for you, feel free to use any soap and shampoo you see. When you are done a new outfit will be waiting for you in the guest bedroom which is located three doors down the hallway. Any questions?” Sweetie felt like she was just briefed on a secret mission or something. “You...follow a certain regiment here don’t you?” she said trying not to laugh. Silver crossed her arms. “Beauty, elegance, grace, stature, these are things you don’t get by simply wanting them. It takes discipline,” Silver said proudly. “Now hurry up, my cooks will be getting our dinner started soon.” Sweetie Belle wrapped a towel around herself after a relaxing and rather long shower as she had a hard time deciding what shampoo to use, and made her way to the guest bedroom wondering what kind of outfit Silver had laid out for her. She entered the bedroom as her eyes laid on a beautiful light purple silk dress. Sweetie gazed upon it, unable to look away. Did Silver really want her to wear this? Was she worthy of wearing something like this? She looked at the other items on the bed. A pair of long white gloves, a pair of high heeled shoes, and even a pair of underwear were laid out for her to put on. With a happy squeal Sweetie threw off her towel and put on her new outfit. She admired herself in a nearby mirror, moving her hips from side to side making the bottom of her dress flow gracefully just above the floor. Sweetie lightly held the side of her dress, lifting it slightly as she said, “Why yes, I am Princess Sweetie Belle, its ever so nice to meet you too. A dance? Well you did ask nicely.” Sweetie held out her hand as if presenting it to someone. “Glad to see you are enjoying yourself, Princess,” came Silver’s voice from the bedroom doorway. Sweetie Belle squeaked and put her hands behind her back as she turned to face Silver who was grinning at her. “I...I…um….wow,” Sweetie looked at her friend who was wearing a silver silk dress with matching long gloves. Her hair was not braided as usual, it was instead long, sleek, and shiny. “Silver...you’re...absolutely amazing.” Silver started walking towards her awestruck friend, her movements as graceful as anything Sweetie had seen in her life. Silver reached up and put her hand on Sweetie’s cheek, the soft silky fabric combined with the warmth of Silver’s hand sent shivers down Sweetie’s spine and made her heart race. “You were absolutely amazing before you put on that dress,” Silver said softly. Sweetie Belle smiled as she looked into Silvers eyes. She had never felt so happy with someone,so comfortable with someone, so...warm. She reached up and pushed a lock of hair out from in front of Silver’s face before putting her hand on Silver’s cheek. Silver closed her eyes and smiled as she leaned slightly into Sweetie’s hand. All Silver felt was pure joy as she felt Sweetie’s touch. She felt her heart beat faster and her body grew warmer as Sweetie moved her hand slowly from her cheek to her shoulder. Silver opened her eyes and stared deeply into Sweetie’s. Both girls started to lean forward slowly, their lips coming closer and closer to contacting. “Madam Silver, dinner is ready,” Came Sebastian’s voice from the doorway. OH, COME ON! Sweetie Belle cried in her head. Silver and Sweetie both pulled back quickly and blushed furiously. “Th..thank you Sebastian,” Silver said. “Shall we?” Silver extended her hand and Sweetie Belle took it. Hand in hand the two made their way down to the dining room where a delicious meal awaited them. Sweetie staggered a bit in her high heels as she walked down the stairs holding Silver Spoon’s hand. “How do you walk in these things?” she asked. Silver giggled. “You get use to them,” Silver said as she slowly walked down the stairs with her. The two finally reached the bottom of the stairs and Sweetie let out a sigh of relief. “Do you...always dress like when you’re at home?” Sweetie asked, already knowing what the answer was. “Yep,” Silver replied happily. “How many dresses do you have?” “Enough to wear a new one everyday of the month,” Silver said as they reached the table where their dinner was waiting. Sweetie Belle tried her best to eat carefully, she didn’t want to soil the dress Silver had so graciously let her wear. She watched Silver eat gracefully. She is so elegant even when eating Sweetie said to herself. “Um...will your parents be joining us?” Sweetie asked. “My parents are never around,” Silver said flatly. “Oh, sorry,” Sweetie said, feeling rather guilty. She could only imagine what it must be like for Silver, being alone in a big mansion. Sweetie shook her head and tried to think about other things, she feared if she thought about it too much her eyes would start to water. After they finished eating Silver lead Sweetie to the back patio of the mansion. Once Sweetie was outside her jaw dropped yet again. Silver’s backyard seemed to stretch for acres, and was comprised almost entirely of a large hedge maze. “It’s almost time for evening tea,” Silver said as she sat down on a large couch on the patio. Sweetie sat down beside her still unable to take her eyes off the hedge maze. Sebastian came out carrying a tray with a teapot and two teacups, as he poured the tea Silver continued to talk. “Just look at that sunset Sweetie, isn’t it beautiful?” The evening sky was a beautiful mix of color, but Sweetie was only admiring one color, silver. “Yeah, it’s a gorgeous view,” Sweetie said not taking her eyes off her friend. The pair sat in silence, drinking their tea as the sun slowly set. “Thank you Sebastian, you may leave us now,” Silver said suddenly. Sebastian bowed and left the girls in silence. “There is something I want to show you.” Silver said as she stood up and extended her hand to Sweetie. Sweetie took Silver’s hand and the two started to walk into the hedge maze. “We aren’t going to get lost are we?” Sweetie asked nervously. Silver laughed. “Don’t worry, I have walked this maze so often I have it memorized. Just don’t go wandering off,” Silver winked at Sweetie as Sweetie’s heart skipped a beat. They continued to walk as the sun set making them lose visibility slightly. Sweetie occasionally staggered due to her high heels. “Is this a good idea?” Sweetie asked. “I can barely see...and walk.” “It will be ok,” Silver assured her. “We are almost there, quit being a baby.” Silver stuck out her tongue at Sweetie who pouted. “But I want to be your baby,” Sweetie said in childish voice. They two girls laughed and picked up the pace as they walked. After a while they reached the center of the maze. Before them lied a large, lush garden which seemed to have over one hundred different kinds of flowers. A large fountain was standing in the middle of the garden. “Now you’re just showing off,” Sweetie said nudging Silver. Silver giggled as she walked towards a small tree and kneeled down in front of it. Curious, Sweetie followed and kneeled down beside her. Despite everything in the garden being lush and healthy, the small tree seemed to be struggling to stay green. In front of the tree lay a small plaque which read “Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara - Friends Forever.” “Silver...is this what you wanted to show me?” Sweetie asked. “Diamond always had a thing for flowers you know,” Silver said in a soft voice. “We always loved to come here and play.” She reached out and stroked a branch of the tree gently. “We planted this tree as a symbol of our friendship, she said it would last for years even after our lives were over,” Silver’s voice started to tremble. “I promised her I would take care of it, but no matter what I do it keeps wilting. I fear its a sign that me and Diamond are growing apart.” “Come on, you don’t really mean that,” Sweetie said trying to sound positive. “You and Diamond are best friends, what makes you think that?” “The tree was doing great...until the day I became friends with you,” Silver said. Sweetie gulped uncomfortably. “Recently the tree has taken a turn for the worst, the same way I feel Diamonds heart is slowly filling with hate. She isn’t the same person who planted this tree with me.” Silver closed her eyes tightly and clenched her fists as tears rolled down her face. “I don’t know why Diamond hates you and your friends so much but I feel if I tell her we are friends it will destroy our friendship. I can’t lose her as a friend, you don’t know how lonely we both were before we found each other, but I don’t want to lose you either.” Silver turned to Sweetie, her face soaked with tears. “What am I to do Sweetie?” “I...don’t know.” Sweetie said cradling her friend in her arms. Silver sobbed into Sweetie Belle’s shoulder as Sweetie herself fought back tears. It seemed no matter what decision they made Silver was going to suffer. Keeping their friendship a secret seemed to be the only way, but how long could they do it? Anytime they were apart they only longed for each other more and more. It was enough to drive them mad at this point. Silver pulled away from Sweetie and wiped her eyes with her hand. “Sorry,” she said “I didn’t mean to put a damper on our evening, but I just don’t know what to do. It’s been like this ever since we became friends. Remember that day when when I said I was jealous of your friendship with Scootaloo and Applebloom?” “Yeah?” “I’m jealous because I feel your friends would accept our friendship, maybe not at first but in time. Diamond on the other hand I feel won’t accept our friendship. If only she would tell me why she hates you three so much, maybe I could help.” Silver hung her head. Sweetie couldn’t take much more, her friend was pouring out her heart and soul and she couldn’t help her. Sweetie was full of emotions. Sadness for her dear friend, anger at Diamond, but most of all….fear. She feared what would come at the end of all of this. What would happen when the truth was revealed. The harsh reality seemed to point to someone being hurt. Sweetie decided it was not worth worrying right now, all she wanted now was to cheer her friend up. The sun set completely as Sweetie stood up and held out her hand. Silver looked up and took Sweetie’s hand as she stood. Sweetie reached up and wiped away Silver’s tears as Silver smiled weakly. Sweetie hugged her friend tightly as Silver did the same. For a while the two stood in the darkness. “Please don’t cry anymore Silvy,” Sweetie said in a soothing voice. “I...I will try,” Silver sniffed. “Anyway..it’s almost time.” “Time for what? Sweetie asked. Almost immediately after she said that lights came on in the garden lightly illuminating the plant life in a soft white glow. “Wow!” Sweetie Belle whispered as she looked around at everything. Sweetie turned her eyes back to Silver, her hair and dress where shimmering in the light. She looked down at her dress and saw it too was shimmering in the light. “So, how about that dance?” Silver said reaching out to Sweetie. Sweetie took her hand and put her other hand on Silver’s waist. Silver did the same and the two girls danced together slowly around the garden, bathed in the light. Sweetie staggered every now and then, still not use to her heels, but Silver was always there to catch her. Sweetie felt like this should be the happiest moment in her life, but she felt...sad. She now know every time Silver smiled, she was smiling through so much pain. The two stopped dancing in front of the fountain and Sweetie pulled away from Silver. “This isn’t right,” she said softly. “What isn’t?” Silver asked. “You smile through the pain, you are forced to bully, you can’t even choose your friends...and it’s all Diamond’s fault,” Sweetie said angrily. “Sweetie..” Silver started, but Sweetie interrupted. “No, if she can’t accept our friendship even after you have stood by her all her life, then she does not deserve to be your friend!” Sweetie yelled. “Don’t say that!” Silver yelled back. “You don’t know Diamond at all!” “Oh yeah?” Sweetie said. “When was the last time she let you decide what you guys did? When did she let you have an opinion on anything? Did she even listen to you when you suggested to stop bullying us?” “I...um...she…” Silver stuttered. “Thats what I thought,” Sweetie said. “I know she is your friend, but you have to face it, she has changed.” “Stop it!” Silver yelled putting her hands to her ears. “No, you need to hear this,” Sweetie said grabbing Silvers hands. “How long are you going to let HER control YOUR life?” “SHUT UP!” Silver yelled pushing Sweetie Belle with all her might. Sweetie bell stumbled backwards on her shaky high heels. She lost her footing and fell backwards into the fountain with a loud splash. Silver gasped as she realized what she had done. “Sweetie, oh my goodness, I’m sorry.” Sweetie glared at Silver as she sat in the cold water. “If you don’t want to face the truth, fine,” Sweetie growled as she stood up and took off her heels. She threw them at Silver’s feet. “I guess we can never really be friends because Diamond Tiara says so.” Sweetie got out of the fountain and headed back towards the mansion leaving Silver to stand alone in the garden. Sweetie shivered as she walked through the maze. “Why does this dress get so heavy when its wet?” she muttered to herself. “Where is the stupid exit!” she cried in frustration. She wandered around for what felt like ages but came across nothing but dead ends. She began to shiver more as the air got colder. She could hear Silver calling her name from somewhere in the maze but she continued to avoid it. Sweetie continued to walk until she saw a clearing ahead of her. “Finally,” she said to herself. She emerged from the maze only to realize she was back at the garden. “OH, COME ON!” she yelled. Suddenly she heard footsteps behind her. “Go away Silver,” she said, refusing to turn around. Sweetie felt a towel fall on her head. “What the?” she said in confusion. She turned around and saw Sebastian standing there with a lantern in his hand. “Madam Belle, the young mistress has been looking everywhere for you,” he said. “Yeah well, I don’t want to see her right now,” Sweetie said wrapping the towel around herself. “I can see you and the young mistress had a...disagreement,” Sebastian said as he motioned for Sweetie to follow him. Sweetie begrudgingly followed. “Its that Diamond Tiara, Silver won’t stop letting her control her life.” Sweetie said bitterly. “Ah yes,” Sebastian said softly. “Lady Diamond does have a rather great impact on the young mistress’s life, the same way you have had an impact on her life. It seems both of you are trying to control her life in a way.” “I am not,” Sweetie started. “Consider this,” Sebastian interrupted. “You are asking her to choose between the two people her world revolves around. Can you imagine what that is like? What if she asked you to choose between your two friends?” Sweetie fell silent and thought to herself. She couldn’t even begin to think what it would feel like if she had to choose between Applebloom and Scootaloo. They were her best friends since elementary school. “I guess a choice like that isn’t one you can make overnight, huh?” Sweetie said sadly. “It is a choice with consequences,” Sebastian said. “Devastating consequences. When she is ready to face that she will make her choice. I ask that you stay by her side throughout it all however, as you seem to make her happy in a way I have never seen before.” “Ok Sebastian, and thanks.” “My pleasure, madam Belle.” Sweetie entered Silver’s bedroom and saw her sitting on her bed wearing a silver nightgown. Silver was looking at a book but closed it as she saw Sweetie walk into her room. The two girls felt an awkward silence as they stared at each other. “Silver…I’m sorry,” Sweetie started but Silver put up her hand. “No, I’m sorry,” Silver said smiling. “You were right, I needed to hear all that. Diamond has controlled my life, and while I was happy to go along with it when I was young I now realize I should be in control of my life. I have made up my mind, I’m going to tell Diamond we are friends after school tomorrow. If she does not accept it then well….thats her problem.” “Really?!” Sweetie Squeaked. Silver nodded. “Now here, put on this nightgown and lets get some sleep” After she changed Sweetie sat down on the bed next to Silver. “What are you reading?” She asked. “This is a old photobook actually,” Silver said opening it. Inside were dozens of pictures of Silver and Diamond as kids. “Aww you were so cute,” Sweetie squeaked. “Things...really were different back then, huh?” “Yeah,” Silver sighed. “Diamond has changed, but if she can change once, she can change back. Thats what I’m hoping happens tomorrow.” Silver closed the book and put it on her bedside table. The two girls sat on the bed until Sweetie broke the silence. “Hey, remember what we were doing before dinner?” she asked blushing slightly. “Yeah…” Silver answered also blushing. “Where were we again?” “Somewhere around here,” Sweetie said putting her hand on Silver’s shoulder. Silver placed her hand on Sweeties waist as the two girls leaned in closer. Both of their hearts started to beat faster. Sweetie Belle’s body grew hot as she felt Silver’s lips against hers. We are kissing! We are actually kissing! She squealed inside her head. The two girls pulled back slowly and stared deeply into each others eyes. “I love you, Sweetie Belle,” Silver said putting her hand on Sweetie’s cheek. “I love you too, Silver Spoon,” Sweetie replied. They both went in for another kiss. Sweetie belle squeaked softly as she felt Silver’s tongue playfully move around her own. Silver let out a soft moan as they continued to hold their kiss. They wrapped their arms around one another and fell back onto the bed. They wanted nothing more than to stay like this, locked in each others arms, taking in the taste of each other’s lips. It was pure bliss, but sadly it had to end as both girls needed air. Sweetie pulled back from Silver’s lips leaving a thin thread of saliva between them. “That was amazing,” Sweetie gasped. “I would like to do more,” Silver said seductively. Both girl giggled as they got into bed and pulled the covers over themselves. > Silver's Resolve > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sweetie opened her eyes the next morning and was greeted by a sleeping Silver Spoon. Sweetie smiled and kissed Silver of the forehead before getting out of bed and stretching. Silver began to stir. “Good morning sleepyhead,” Sweetie Belle said in a sing song voice. “Morning,” Silver smiled as she reached over to her bedside table and put on her glasses. “You should see your hair.” Silver laughed. “You wouldn’t be laughing if you saw yours right now,” Sweetie said sticking out her tongue. “Think we can take a shower together this time?” “Geez, didn’t you get enough last night?” Silver asked. “I’m not saying we have to do anything, we could just...shower.” Sweetie said innocently. “There will be plenty of time for that once I tell Diamond the truth,” Silver said getting out of bed. Sweetie let out a small squeal. “I can’t wait for us to be able to be together in public, where should we go first? The movies? The amusement park? The beach? Oh Silvy, I love you!” Sweetie squeaked as she threw her arms around her friend. “I love you too Sweetie,” Silver said, kissing her on the cheek. “Right now though we need to focus.” “Right! We need to keep up the act for one more school day,” Sweetie said as she went to Silver’s dresser where her school uniform was. She picked it up and went into the guest bathroom to take a shower. Silver made her way to her own shower and turned on the water. As she stood under the flowing water she tried to mentally prepare herself for what she was going to do today. “Just keep calm and tell Diamond the truth,” she said to herself. “Diamond….please….I don’t want to lose you…” After their showers the two girls stood outside Silver’s mansion. It was a nice sunny day and Sweetie and Silver’s hearts were all a flutter as they kissed each other goodbye. Sweetie skipped as she made her way to where she and her friends met every morning before school. She had never felt so happy and giddy in all her life. As she passed a nearby alleyway she felt someone pull her into it and slam her against the wall. Sweetie’s head was ringing as a voce started talking. “No more games, Belle,” came Diamond Tiara’s voice. “What kind of game are you playing with Silver?” Diamond had Sweetie pinned to the wall with her arms and Sweetie struggled as she replied. “I don’t know what you are talking about!” she cried. “Oh really? Then explain THIS!” Diamond held up a piece of paper and Sweetie’s heart sank as she realized it was the note Silver passed to her in gym class the previous day. “You have been meeting with Silver in secret huh? Playing around behind my back huh? Did you really think you could keep this a secret from me forever?” Diamond slapped Sweetie across her face and Sweetie let out a yelp of pain. Sweetie wanted to fight back but she didn’t want to hurt Diamond, she knew if she did Silver might not forgive her. Diamond slapped Sweetie harder and she once again let out a squeak of pain. “Answer me damn it,” Diamond yelled. Sweetie stayed silent as tears started to form in her eyes. Diamond clenched her fist and punched Sweetie Belle in the stomach. Sweetie fell to her knees clutching her stomach, tears now flowing down her face. “You think you're good enough for Silver you little cry baby?” Diamond growled as she looked down at the whimpering Sweetie Belle. Sweetie slowly looked up at Diamond. “You...don’t deserve...to be...Silver’s friend,” Sweetie panted. Diamond’s eyes flashed with fury. “How dare you...you little piece of trash!” Diamond kicked Sweetie in the side of the head, knocking Sweetie onto her back. Sweetie’s vision started to blur, her head was pounding as she lay on her back at Diamond Tiara’s mercy. Diamond continued her assault, kicking Sweetie Belle wherever she could. Sweetie felt nothing but pain as her vision grew more and more blurry. Diamond stopped her assault and placed her foot on Sweetie’s neck. Sweetie coughed and gasped for air as Diamond applied more pressure with every word she said. “Stay...away...from…Silver!” Diamond growled. Sweetie felt herself losing consciousness, her vision started slowly fading to black, and then it stopped as Diamond removed her foot from Sweetie’s neck and walked away. Sweetie gasped and coughed trying to get air back into her pain ridden body, her tears and blood stained the concrete where she lay as her vision slowly returned to normal. Sweetie slowly got up to her hands and knees, her whole body was shaking as she finally stood up. She started walking slowly to where she was meeting her friends, occasionally staggering. The pain in her stomach became worse and she propped herself up against a wall and threw up on the sidewalk. Determined to reach her friends she carried on until finally she saw them in the distance. She got a sudden boost of energy as she hobbled towards them. Applebloom and Scootaloo both turned to see the horrible state their friend was in and started running towards her. “I...made..it,” Sweetie said to herself as she fell forward into Applebloom’s arms. “Sweetie Belle!” Applebloom cried, her eyes starting to water. “Oh my Celestia, what happened? Who did this to you?” “It was Diamond Tiara wasn’t it?” Scootaloo said, her body twitching with anger. Sweetie nodded weakly as Applebloom took a water bottle out of her bag. “Here, drink some,” Applebloom said as she laid Sweetie down and cradled her head in her lap. “Damn you Diamond Tiara, you have gone too far this time.” Applebloom said through gritted teeth. “Applebloom..Scootaloo...there is something I need to tell you,” Sweetie Started. “Hush darlin’,” Applebloom said, wetting a towel and trying to remove the blood from Sweetie’s face. “ It ain’t anything that can’t wait, save your strength.” “No...Applebloom I have to tell you this…” Sweetie Started again, but Applebloom put her finger to Sweetie’s lips. “Shh, its going to be ok,” Applebloom said soothingly. “Scoots, give me some of those band aids you keep with you…..Scootaloo?” She looked around but Scootaloo was nowhere to be seen. “Huh, wonder where she went.” Sweetie Belles eyes grew wide as she sat up. “She is going after Diamond Tiara, we gotta stop her!” Sweetie yelled. “Whoa there girl, you ain’t in no condition to do anything. Besides Scoots can handle Diamond.” “No, you don’t understand!” Sweetie sighed and took a deep breath. “I have a lot of explaining to do….” *** Scootaloo stomped through the town with a baseball bat in her hand. Her eyes scanned everywhere looking for a certain pink haired bully. Scootaloo had never felt so much rage, the image of a battered and bloody Sweetie Belle kept flashing in her mind and it only made her more angry. Finally she spotted Diamond and Silver walking ahead of her. “DIAMOOOOOND!” Scootaloo roared. Both Diamond and Silver turned around to look at the enraged Scootaloo. Diamond’s eyes moved from Scootaloo’s face to the bat in her hand and she knew what this was about. “You are going to pay for what you did to Sweetie Belle!” Scootaloo screamed. “What?!” Silver said, her eyes widening as she turned to Diamond. “What did you do to Sweetie?” Diamond did not have time to answer as Scootaloo started running towards them. “Diamond, run!” Silver said as she moved between Scootaloo and Diamond. “Silver, NO!” Diamond screamed. “JUST GO!” Silver screamed back. Diamond started running as Scootaloo reached Silver Spoon. “Out of my way!” Scootaloo cried. “Scootaloo please, you don’t have to do this! Sweetie Belle and me are fri..argh!” Silver was cut off as Scootaloo jabbed her in the stomach with the bat. “ I will be back for you,” Scootaloo growled as she continued to chase Diamond Tiara. Diamond ran as fast as she could, taking any turn she saw in hopes of losing the rampaging Scootaloo. She went down one street then another, too afraid to look back. She finally took one to many turns, however, as she came to a dead end. She turned around and saw Scootaloo standing there blocking her only exit. Diamond backed up against the wall as Scootaloo walked slowly toward her, dragging the bat on the ground as she walked. “Please don’t hurt me,” Diamond pleaded, her eyes starting to fill with tears. “I will do anything, just please don’t hurt me.” Scootaloo stopped a few feet in front of Diamond. “Ok, how about you start by saying you're sorry for every single time you bullied me and my friends? I think that amounts to about one thousand times!” Scootaloo said as she pointed her bat at Diamond. “I’m sorry,I’m sorry, I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,I’m sorry,” Diamond said as fast as she could. “Louder!” Scootaloo said. “I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,I’M SORRY,” Diamond screamed. “Alright, shut up!” Scootaloo yelled. “Now get on your knees.” Diamond obeyed, she looked up at Scootaloo as tears continued to flow down her face. “This ends NOW!” Scootaloo Cried as she raised the bat over her head. “NO! PLEASE, DON’T!” Diamond screamed as she closed her eyes and put her arms on her head, bracing for impact. It didn’t come. Diamond slowly opened her eyes and looked up. Scootaloo was still holding the bat over her head poised to strike, but she was….crying. “What?...What is this?” Scootaloo said as she lowered her arms. She brought her hand to her face and felt the tears flowing down her face. “Why?....Why can’t I do it? Why can’t I hurt you?” Scootaloo fell to her knees and buried her face in her hands. “Why am I so weak? Why can’t I protect my friends?” “Scootaloo!” Sweetie Belle and Applebloom yelled as they came running into the alley. “Thank Celestia your ok.” Sweetie said as she hugged her crying friend. “I’m so sorry Sweetie, I couldn’t avenge you...I couldn’t end it.” Scootaloo sobbed. “And I couldn’t be more proud of you,” Sweetie said. “What?” Scootaloo said, looking at her now smiling friend. “Don’t you see Scoots? If you had done what you were going to do, well you would be no better than Diamond.” Applebloom said hugging Scootaloo as well. “All I wanted to do was protect my friends,” Scootaloo sniffed. “And that is all Diamond wanted to do,” Sweetie said. “You see Scoots, me and Silver have a secret...we have been friends for a long time now, we didn't tell anyone because we didn't know how you and diamond would take it, and judging by how Diamond took it we were right to worry.” “Diamond!” Silver Spoon came running into the alley and sat next to her shivering friend. “C..come on Silver Spoon,” Diamond said as she took Silvers hand and stood up. “Let’s get out of here, away from these losers.” She started to walk but Silver jerked her hand away. “No Diamond, not this time! Sweetie Belle is my friend and what you did to her was unforgivable.” Silver Spoon said. “But...Silvy...we are...friends forever...remember?” Diamond said, tears starting to fall from her eyes again. Silver stood her ground. “I was just...trying to protect you… trying to protect us.” A look of realization came over Silver’s face. “You weren’t blinded by hate, you were blinded by love!” She said. Diamond hung her head. “All I ever wanted was you Silvy, but I saw the way you looked at Sweetie Belle the first time we all met in elementary school. I see the way you look at her now. You never looked at me that way! Why? We were closer than sisters and yet you chose her. I just wanted you to love me like you love her!” Diamond turned and ran. “Diamond, wait!” Silver yelled. Diamond turned as she reached the entrance to the alley. Her face a mixture of sadness and anger. “I loved you Silver Spoon,” Diamond said as she ran out of sight. “Arent you going to go after her?” Sweetie asked. “No,” Silver said quietly. She kneeled down next to Sweetie and hugged her. “So how about we start over...I’m Silver Spoon, nice to meet you” She held out her hand and Scootaloo and Applebloom both shook it. “I’m Applebloom, pleased to meet ya,” Applebloom said as she smiled. “Name’s Scootaloo and...any friend of Sweetie’s is a friend of mine.” **** A few days later, Silver stood in her garden looking down at the little tree she and Diamond had planted. “How is it doing?” came a voice behind her. Silver turned to see Sweetie Belle standing there in a beautiful yellow silk dress. “It has seen better days,” Silver said sadly. “Beautiful dress by the way.” “Thanks! Made it myself, I figured if I’m going to be spending more time here I better have my own dress….as well as be able to find my way through this stupid maze.” Sweetie giggled as she walked up and stood next to Silver. They both lookied down at the tree that was barely clinging to life. “I’m not giving up on her you know, Diamond Tiara I mean,” Silver said softly. “I know deep down lies the old Diamond, the one I came to know as a sister more than a friend.” Sweetie took hold of Silver’s hand. “You sure aren’t the kind of friend Diamond deserves, but you may be just the kind she needs,” Sweetie said. “Now how about we finish that dance?” “Sounds good to me,” Silver said. The two love struck girls shared a kiss and began to dance the night away.
