> If Dreams Could Come True > by SweetNSour > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > A Flight To Remember > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Okay everypony, you all have a wonderful weekend.” Ms. Cheerilee said to the class as the big clock in Ponyville town square struck mid-day. “Not you Diamond Tiara, still in a world of trouble for that little stunt you tried to pull.” Diamond grunted in disapproval, but reluctantly sat back in her seat. “I knew she was mean, but to go that far?” Applebloom said as she walked out of the school house with her friends Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle. “I know, just the thought of doing that to somepony… ” Scootaloo shuddered and made a sound that sounded like an animal throwing up. She went and grabbed her scooter and her wagon. The three friends hopped on and they headed down the road to the Carousel Boutique, where Sweetie lived. When they were almost there, Sweetie broke the silence. “You know, I can understand why Diamond did that to her… WHOA” Sweetie almost fell of the wagon as it was stopped suddenly. She looked up to see her friends glaring at her. “What? Oh come on now, seriously cant tell me that she wasn’t asking for it?” “Sweetie Belle, Diamond put that little girl in the hospital. You can’t seriously be telling me that you’re siding with Diamond on this.” Scootaloo said as she started off down the road again. “No, I’m not saying that at all. What I meant was that the girl… the way she was acting towards Diamond at lunch, im surprised no pony said anything. I must have been the only one to see what happened.” Sweetie said, looking down at the ground. “Hey now, don’t be actin all sad. That girl might have done something to Diamond, but look at whut Diamond did to her.” Applebloom said trying to comfort her friend. Scootaloo stopped the scooter in front of the Boutique. Sweetie got off and waved by to her friends as she walked into her home. “Ah don’t get her sometimes, ya know Scoots?” Applebloom asked Scootaloo. They were now heading towards Sweet Apple Acres to drop Applebloom off at her farm house. “Ah mean, she’s always tryin ta get us ta be nice to Diamond Tiara, and all Diamond ever does is bully us.” “I get what you’re saying, but she is our friend, and we cant not listen to her sometimes. Would you want to be friends if I never listened to anything you said?” Scootaloo replied, taking a short cut through the woods. “Well ah suppose ah wouldn’t, no, Ya do have a good point there.” Applebloom reluctantly agreed with Scootaloo as she scooted to a halt at the gate to the farm. “Well, thanks fer dropping me off here Scoots. I’ll see ya later.” Said the farm filly as she ran off to the barn. But Scootaloo was already speeding off towards her home to drop of her school bags, scooter, and wagon. She couldn’t wait to get there cause Rainbow Dash was supposed to already be there waiting for her. She pumped her wings so hard that she started to hover over the ground as she sped down the road. She noticed what she was doing and slowed down just enough to were she stayed in contact with the ground. It took her about five minutes for her to get to her home. And there she was, just like she said she would be. She brought the scooter to a halt right next to Rainbow Dash and a huge cloud of dust came shooting past them both. After a fit of coughing from the both of them, Rainbow said, “Wow squirt, you’re really good with that scooter. You ought to show me a few tricks sometime.” She wiped some dust from her mane as Scootaloo got off her scooter. She walked it towards the porch and leaned it against it. “Really Rainbow? You’d want to watch me do tricks on my scooter? That is so cool, we should totally do that soon.” Scootaloo said excitement in her voice. She trotted over and hugged her idol. “I’m so happy that you want to spend the day with me. It means a lot to me.” “it’s no problem squirt, and I got a surprise for you too.” She said, smirking a smug little grin. She saw the excitement in Scootaloo’s eyes grow as she started to jump up and down in place. “No way, you do? What is it? Ooooh, tell me, tell me, please.” She blabbered out at a really fast pace. She started prancing around Rainbow Dash like a puppy dog. “Well, I pulled in a favor and guess what… I got the whole weekend off of work, and that’s not all. You’re gonna be sleeping at my place, for the whole weekend. How does that sound Scoots?” Rainbow said throwing her arms into the air. Knowing that it would make the filly happy beyond reprieve. She looked into Scootaloos eyes and saw a glow that could only be described as pure joy. Scootaloo jumped into the air, spun around and did a back flip in the air. “Rainbow Dash you have no idea how happy you just made me. I thought I was only spending the day with you, and now we get the whole weekend?” Scootaloo flew down and hugged. She grew speechless and just smiled while hugging her idol. “Alright, alright, I know I made you happy. Now come on, we’ve got to get to my house drop your bag off. I’ve got plans for us.” She pulled out a rainbow colored duffel bag from behind the bush she was next to and handed it to me. “Here ya go squirt, I had your mom pack it up for ya.” She took the duffle bag away from Dash and strapped it to her back. She looked at her house and her mother was at the window waving goodbye. “Bye mom, thank you for letting me stay with Dash for the weekend, I love you.” Scootaloo said waving back to her mom as she took off flying with Rainbow Dash to her cloud home. She caught up to asked barley able to hold in her excitement. Started getting dizzy so she stopped circling Dash and flew beside her. “Well I wanted to keep that a secret until it was time for it to happen. But I hope you’re ready to stay up late tonight.” Dash chuckled as they avoided a rather large cloud. As they passed it, Scootaloo bucked at it, and it broke in two pieces and floated away. “”Awww, it didn’t disappear, but at least I broke it.” Scootaloo smiled at her small accomplishment, and she caught back up with dash. “Good job kiddo, with some more practice and training im sure you will make them disappear soon.” Dash encouraged the filly. She wrapped an arm around her as her cloud home came into view. Scootaloo started shaking with delight as they landed on the doorstep of the cloud home. Dash opened up the door and let Scootaloo enter in first. She had been in there many times before, but that didn’t stop her from getting excited every time she came in. Then she stopped in the living room and set her bag down onto the couch. “So, where, uh… where am I gonna sleep at?” Scootaloo asked. She had never slept over there before, and she was actually a little nervous. “Well, actually I’ve never had anypony stay the night at my house before. I don’t have another bed and the couch isn’t that comfortable. You would probably just sleep on the opposite end of my bed.” Dash rubbed the back of her head and chuckled nervously a little. It was true, however, she never had anypony spend the night at her home before. So unless she wanted to sleep on the floor, Scootaloo would have to sleep in Dashes bed. “Well I guess I could be okay with that. As long as im not too much of a burden.” Scootaloo said as she blushed slightly and shuffled her hoofs on the floor. But then she froze as Rainbow trotted up to her and did something unexpected… Rainbow hugged Scootaloo. Scootaloo was so shocked by this that she just stood there. Slowly coming out of the shock, she wrapped her arms around Rainbow and then Rainbow spoke to her. “Listen here squirt. You will never be a burden to me. I love hanging out with you. You’re like a sister to me and I’ve always kind of looked forward to hanging out with you.” Rainbow let go of the hug and just looked at Scootaloo. Scootaloo couldn’t even hide her smile it was so big. The thought that her idol considered her a sister? She couldn’t believe it, but it happened, and she was ecstatic. She was speechless and it was moments before she found her voice. But when she did, it was full of stutters. “You… you really… think that…that im like… a sister to you?” Tears started well up in her eyes, but she held them back. She didn’t want to show signs of weakness in front of her idol. So she turned around and pretended to sneeze, but really wiped her face. “Of course I do, kid. Now come on. We gotta go, or we’re gonna be late.” Dash said as she looked at the big clock in the living room. She grabbed Scootaloo’s hoof and nearly dragged her out of the door. They took off in the sky and Dash led the way. Scootaloo wasn’t sure where they were going but she didn’t really care. All she about is spending time with Rainbow Dash. She was still feeling a little fluffy inside about hearing Dash tell her that she was like a sister to her. But that feeling quickly faded away when Scootaloo noticed that they were flying over unfamiliar land. “Where are we Rainbow Dash? What exactly are we gonna be doing together?” She asked nervously. She had never been this far away from home before. And she was a little scared, but she certainly made sure that Dash didn’t see her scared. “Like I said before, it supposed to be a surprise, but I will tell you for what I have in mind we need to be far away from buildings and other ponies.” Replied the leading mare with a huge grin on her face. Scootaloo had no clue to what she was getting at, but Scootaloo couldn’t be more excited than she was now. “Aww, come on. Tell me. Please?” Begged Scootaloo, but she wasn’t getting anymore information out of the rainbow colored Pegasus. They flew side by side for another half an hour before finally stopping and landing in a small clearing at the base of a mountain. The surrounding area looked like it came right out of a painted picture. It was utterly beautiful; there were hundreds of different colored flowers. There was a small waterfall coming off the mountain leading into a small pond. On each side of the pond, two small streams trickled away from the pond into the forest in different directions. Together, along with all the birds, the two streams created such a beautiful melody that it brought smiles to both the Pegasi. “Wow, this place is AMAZING, Rainbow Dash.” Scootaloo just stood there next to dash, and looked around the clearing. “Was this place the surprise? Because it sure was one.” Scootaloo started to walk away towards the pond, but was held up by Rainbow. “Well, this was only part of the surprise. The other part of the surprise is still yet to happen.” Then without warning Rainbow grabbed Scootaloo and took off into the air. Going higher and higher, Scootaloo saw the ground shrinking fast. She had never been this high before, and despite being a Pegasus, she was kind of nervous. "Rai...Rainbow Dash? Aren't we going a little too high? I can't quite see the place anymore." Scootaloo asked. She looked at Rainbow in hopes of an answer, but Rainbow just remained silent and smiled. That made Scootaloo even more nervous. She hoped that Rainbow was going to use her to try out a new stunt. Those normally ended badly on the first try. While she was thinking, Rainbow finally came to a halt. She hovered in the air, miles above the ground. She took Scootaloo and turned her so she was facing the same way as Rainbow was. "Well kid, I know that you've always wanted to see one of these, but I had something better in mind for you. Scootaloo, keep your eyes open for everything, i dint want you to miss a single second of this part of your surprise." And with that, before Scootaloo could ask a single question, She and Rainbow were speeding towards the ground. Faster and faster they went, and Scootaloo loved it... The air rushing past her ears. She had never gone this fast before, and she wanted to go faster. Then, just as if Rainbow read her mind, she picked up even more speed. Scootaloo howled in delight as they sped towards the ground. She looked around her and noticed that electricity was forming little lightning strikes around them. She could literally see the air bending around them, the little particles of air trying to get out of the way in time. Scootaloo looked forward and saw the ground was almost a few hundred hoof lengths away, she started to scream but then, BOOM, Her and Rainbow jerked back up into the sky. Scootaloo looked behind her to see the ever famous Sonic Rainboom. But this on looked different. From what Scootaloo was told, it was only supposed to have the basic rainbow colors. This one , however, had that, and two extra colors. Two oddball colors that blended so well in with the rest of the rainbow that they looked almost natural to be together. Those two colors were a bright burnt orange and a deep light shade of purple. They resembled Scootaloo herself. And she couldn't have been more surprised, or happy, in her whole life. She looked up to Rainbow again, and saw a tear fall from her eye. As the two pegasai slowed down, Scootaloo reached up and wiped the tear away from her eye. Then did the same to her own, for she had been crying too. It wasn't a sad cry, but a joyous one. They soon landed back in the clearing, but instead of dropping to the ground, Scootaloo turned around and hugged Rainbow Dash. "Wow, Rainbow Dash, that... That was unbelievable. I had no idea that you were going to do that. That was my first time seeing a Sonic Rainboom, not only that, I got to be in it! Thank you do much Rainbow Dash. I... I love you" She closed her eyes and hugged her tighter. Rainbow Dash on the other hand, was taken aback. She didn't expect that from Scootaloo, not in the least. But she went with it. "i love you too, squirt." Rainbow said back to her. They sat there and hugged for a while. They didn't realize how much time had passed, when they broke from the hug the sun was setting. " it's getting pretty late, we should head back." Rainbow said as she stretched her wings. "Alright Rainbow, I'm ready, but I still can't believe that that happened." Scootaloo said as she took off with Rainbow, heading back towards Ponyville. "Yeah well wait til tomorrow, I've got plenty of fun stuff for us to do together." Said Dash, wrapping a hoof around Scootaloo as they flew.
