Their names were King Constellation and Queen Brightstar. One day, they had three daughters, Celestia, Luna, and Sunbeam. Every day for the next sixty years, they would play together, until one day, a blizzard struck Canterlot. The king and queen died of the sudden chill and frostbite. When the sisters saw their parents had died trying to protect them, the three sisters ran inside for shelter. Sunbeam didn't weigh a lot, and she was the youngest princess out of the three. She was blown away and sucked up into the clouds, and was never seen again for the thousand years that had passed. Celestia and Luna tried to find her, but she was no where in sight. The blizzard had finally stopped after two weeks. Celestia and Luna were the only two left, and they tried to find Sunbeam once more, seeing the sun had come out again, with Celestia's order, of course. They decided to give up after weeks of searching, and restored order to Equestria and the land once more. For years, the re-built kingdom prospered, until today. Princess Celestia walked into Princess Luna's chambers, and exclaimed, "Luna, come on! We're going to be late to switch the night to day." Princess Luna gasped, startled by her sister's entrance and she rolled off her bed onto the floor with the cover over her head. "I'm up! I'm up! I wasn't sleeping, I was awake, I swear it!" Luna said. Princess Celestia chucked, "Anyways, we should get a move on. I know everypony likes to sleep, but every dusk must have a dawn." Princess Luna nodded in agreement, got up, and walked out to the hill with a tree on it. That is where they always raised and set the night or day. "Ready?" Princess Celestia asked. "Ready." Princess Luna repeated. The sun began to rise over Ponyville and all of Equestria, as the moon and stars set. The two sisters then went inside for breakfast. They both ate an apple and drank some grape juice. Princess Celestia then went into her bedroom and started filling out forms and documents, while levitating a quill. Princess Luna had been walking by her chamber, and asked, "Tia, could I talk to you for a moment?" "Of course." Princess Celestia responded. Princess Luna continued, "Do you ever wonder if Sunbeam is still alive or where she is?" The two sisters glanced up at the family portrait painted long ago. Princess Celestia sighed, "Our sister is never going to come back...it's a sad truth." Ironically, a maid had just come in and said, "Your highness...oh, sorry, am I interrupting something?" "Not at all, what is it you had to tell us?" Princess Celestia asked. The maid continued, "A young alicorn is waiting for you both in the throne room. She says she used to live here...I personally think she's a bit of a loony. You should see her mane and scars." Princess Luna and Princess Celestia exchanged glances, and then back at the maid. "Uh...tell her we'll be down right away." Princess Luna finally replied. The maid nodded, then left the sisters. Princess Luna asked, "You don't think she meant...she couldn't! Could she...?" Princess Celestia responded, "Only one way to find out." The two alicorn sisters approached the mysterious pony in the throne room. Princess Celestia smiled and greeted her warmly, "Welcome to Canterlot Castle, could we help you, miss...?" "My name is Sunbeam." The mare replied. The two alicorns gasped, and then looked at Sunbeam. "What are you looking at...?" Then Sunbeam realized, and gasped, "Luna, Celestia?! Is that really you?!" Princess Celestia had tears of joy in her eyes, "Welcome back home, sister." They both hugged her. Sunbeam smiled, "I thought I'd never find you guys!" Princess Luna said, "You look awful, I'll have a maid run you a bath." "Thank you." The young princess smiled, and then was taken away to be bathed and have her mane brushed. Princess Celestia stared into the distance, and Princess Luna asked, "Tia, are you alright?" "Yes...it's just...all those years searching...all those years of hope...and now she's finally returned." Princess Celestia replied. Princess Luna said, "Well, now maybe we'll start getting some answers to our questions." They both smiled, then waited for Sunbeam in the library. Sunbeam walked in, and all her scars and scratches were removed. Her mane was soft as silk and clean. She looked like a regular princess once more. "You look amazing, Sunbeam." Princess Celestia remarked. Sunbeam replied, "Thanks, Tia." Princess Luna asked, "So, what happened to you and where have you been all these years?" Sunbeam sighed, and then responded, "The answer to your questions...it's a long story, but I'll tell you. After I had been swept away by the blizzard, I was lost. I wondered aimlessly for miles. For days, as the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months. I finally found a place to call my temporary home. I befriended many animals, and even learned how to communicate with them in the process. They helped me survive all these years. Then, when I felt I was ready, and strong again, I decided to leave and try to reunite with you girls again. After two years, I finally found you, and now I'm here." Princess Celestia questioned, "What about the marks and scars?" "I was walking through thick jungles and sticky mud. I gained a lot of frizz in my mane and scars from the branches and poison ivy. I also survived without my animal friends by living off the land. It was tough, but I'm just glad I finally found you both!" Sunbeam smiled. Princess Luna gasped, "I have an idea! To welcome Sunbeam back, we should have a re-coronation for her and a dance!" Princess Celestia smiled, "That's a great idea, Luna! What do you say, Sunbeam?" "I think it's a marvelous idea, I can't wait to meet everypony!" Sunbeam replied excitedly. The next day, everypony in Equestria came to see Sunbeam. They didn't know what she looked like yet, not at least until the crowning ceremony. Everypony took their seats in the crowd, and then Princess Celestia and Luna were waiting at the top where Sunbeam's new throne would be. "Fillies and gentlecolts, thank you all so much for making the long journey to Canterlot to witness the crowning of the lost princess. For many years, Princess Luna and myself had gone without seeing our little sister, Sunbeam." Princess Celestia said. Sunbeam walked out onto the throne, and say down, then the ponies all cheered. Princess Luna placed a silver crown on her head with a crystal diamond in it. "I now declare you Princess Sunbeam of Canterlot!" Princess Celestia proclaimed. Sunbeam smiled and waved to her new subjects, looking nervous and shy. Princess Celestia whispered in her ear, "Well, princess, make a speech." She smiled down at the young alicorn. Sunbeam got up off the throne, and walked to the front of it. She cleared her throat, "H-Hi, I assume you all know me by now, Princess Sunbeam. Anyways...I just have to say, I am very proud and honored to be your new princess, and to let you know I won't let any of you down. I look forward to meeting everypony! I also hope that everypony is enjoying themselves." The ponies all cheered and then went into the garden to dance. Princess Luna asked, "Scared about your new duties as a princess?" Sunbeam replied, "A little..." "You may even become Queen of Equestria one day, Sunbeam!" Princess Luna said excitedly. Princess Celestia stopped her, "Whoa now, she still has much, much, much more to learn before she even begins to think about being queen. She'll get there though, one day..." The three sisters all laughed, then enjoyed themselves for the rest of the night, dancing and having fun.
