> A Siren's Song > by Darknight293 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prologue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a dark night. Clouds above the city of Canterlot as only a few of it inhabitants were still awake on this cold November night. Winter cold had begun to descend on the town and with each passing day it became obvious it would be a chilly Winter. However, the change in temperature was the last thing on the minds of three hooded strangers. Their identities covered up save for a small light shining off their faces from their apartment's room light. They sat together at a small table, hand written notes and pictures of Canterlot High were spread out and organized on the table as well. One of the strangers reached over to a picture and picked it up, lifting it to her face. The picture showing the blast of rainbow light they had seen coming from the school a week or two ago. She knew exactly what that rainbow light meant. Equestrian Magic. She placed the picture back on the table, her hands going to the hood that covered up her identity. She grabbed the fabric with her hands and pulled it down, revealing her arctic bluish white skin. Her hair was tied back in a single ponytail and was mostly light arctic blue colored with moderate persian blue stripes. Her name was Sonata Dusk, but she wasn't a normal teenage girl. Sure she seems young, but in reality she was a Siren. Mythical creatures in this world, said to lead sailors and their ships in the Mediterranean sea to their watery graves. That wasn't true for her and her friends. They were Sirens, yes, but they weren't from this world. Their homeworld was Equis, a world filled with talking Ponies, Zebras, Griffins, Changelings, and many many more creatures. What made them different from this world's Sirens is that they fed off of negative energy, which was caused by arguments, fighting, all kinds of bad things. This negative energy gave them the ability to amplify their voices through magic pendants that they wore and let them control everyone with the beauty of their voices. Such as caused them to fight for something they want and this generate even more of this energy. But the negative energy had another importance. Without some negative energy, the Sirens would die. Such a thought had always been a dread on Sonata's mind an even made her wish there was a way to get this energy. Sonata and her friends had lived there for many decades, maybe even centuries and hey hadn't found a different source. She couldn't remember exactly how long they had been here, but she did remember Starswirl the Bearded. A legendary unicorn that had used a banishing spell to...well...banish them to this other world. Now they were stuck on this world. To Sonata she thought they'd be stuck here forever, as her friend Adagio stated the energy here wasn't as strong as the energy from Equis This meant they couldn't gain enough power to dispel Starswirl's banishment spell that kept them here. Her moderate raspberry eyes looked to her friends, whom were pulling their hoods down as well. To her left was Aria, a pale, light grayish fuchsia skin colored girl. Her hair was formed into two smaller ponytails and mostly a moderate purple color with light brilliant aquamarine streaks. Her moderate mulberry colored eyes scanning over the hand written notes. Sonata knew Aria all too well throughout their numerous, though trivial, arguments. While they didn't get along back in Equestria, Equis, or during the first few hundred years here, Aria was kinda like a sister to Sonata. Her eyes then went to her right, seeing her other friend Adagio. Her rather giant, poofy hair had Luminous vivid orange with brilliant yellow streaks in it. Her pale apple green skin and brilliant raspberry eyes easily helped complete her look. It almost made Sonata a bit jealous of her friend's looks, but she liked herself just how she was. Sonata's eyes looked back down to the pictures in front of her. After the sign of Equestrian magic existing at the school Adagio had gone crazy. Staying up late at night, writing many notes and taking pictures of the school and it's grounds. Honestly it appeared the first sign of magic made her friend go ballistic with frenzied joy. It's sign made Sonata happy as well, as they had a chance to return to Equestria. But they couldn't be sure where the magic was exactly, it had to inhabit inside a living being after all. Unless it was a relic that could hold magic- "...Sonata are you listening?" Her head shot back up and she looked at Adagio, whom didn't look happy. Sonata gave her a short nod, but Adagio wasn't fooled. Adagio sighed, "Sonata sweetie, try to focus please. We only get one chance at this." "Now if you're done oogling the pictures listen up," Adagio grabbed a few pieces of paper and tossed one at Aria and another at Sonata. Sonata grabbed the paper and looked at it, a quick skim over showing it was from CHS. Adagio spoke up again, "The school finally finished the process and we're now students at CHS, starting tomorrow we put our plan into action!" She finished, starting to grin. "What plan Adagio? Cause some chaos and feed off of the negative energy?" Aria replied, setting down the paper, "You already said the magic here isn't the same as Equestrian magic and there's no way random teenages are going to have it." Adagio sighed and resisted the urge to hit her own head, "That is obvious to me Aria. But if Equestrian magic exists there then that means there is a way to Equestria. Which means someone brought an item with magic infused into it from Equis to here." This time Sonata spoke up, getting the attention of her friends, "So if someone brought a relic with Equestrian magic here and used it, wouldn't that mean whoever used it has the magic infused into them now? Since some of the magic would bleed off into their bodies." Both her friends stared at her, dumbfounded. Sonata was usually the ditzy girl in the group and very rarely showed high intelligence to make a working plan. Yet she had just pointed out they'd only need to find a few certain students. Sonata, however, blinked at them, starting to sweat as she thought she fucked up again, "W-what?" She asked. Adagio chuckled evilly, "Nothing Sonata, you actually surprised us with that stroke of intelligence. But she's right," Adagio turned to Aria, "Only a few certain students will have the magic, which is more powerful than ours right now. That means whoever has it won't fall under our spell...so.." Adagio grinned once more and stood up out do her seat. She walked over to the window and looked out to the city below, seeing the school, "That means all we have to do is get everyone else under our spell, and then go after whoever hasn't fallen under it for they will have the magic we seek!" Aria smirked, joining in Adagio's evil grin, "I'll admit I didn't expect Sonata to point out the easy road for us, guess she has a brain after all." "Hey!" Sonata said, growling a bit. "Oh stop it Sonata and look at the pictures of your so-called crush you took earlier. We both know you took them for a reason." Aria countered, leaning back in her seat and putting her legs on the table, crossing one over the other. Sonata blushed and kept her mouth shut, glupling slightly as she looked back down at the table. Her right hand moved through the pictures and grabbed one, pulling it out of the pile and looking at it. The picture was of a boy in a light jacket, his back to the picture. What felt wrong in this picture was the girl that was in the picture with him. They both had signed of some injury, especially the girl that Sonata found out was named Sunset Shimmer. A girl that caused quite a bit of trouble at the School's Fall Formal. Her eyes focused on the boy instead of the girl, making her heart beat a tad faster. Suddenly, before she could do anything else, someone shook the siren. Sonata blinked and looked up and behind herself to her left. Adagio was standing right behind her, "Sonata, remember. We aren't humans, we're sirens. We aren't suppose to fall in love with mortal creatures...I mean sure I've experienced it a few times but you never saw me go out with anyone." "What about that guy from the late 19th centu-" "Shut up Aria!" Adagio yelled before looking at Sonata again, "My point is don't let it distract you from our goal, getting the Equestrian magic, breaking Starswirl the Bearded banishment spell, and returning home to Equis to take it over for good." Sonata sighed and nodded, "I understand Dagi, I just can't help the feeling in my heart'" She then smiles slightly at Adagio, "But I won't let it jeopardize our goal." Adagio smiled back at Sonata and patted her shoulder, "Good girl," she said before turning and going back to the window. Sonata blinked slowly and turned back to the table, looking at the picture in her hand. An evil smile slowly appearing on the Siren's face. "Besides," she said to herself quietly, "I'm sure he'll love me back once he hears my song." She said, her heart beating happily in the thought of making him hers...even if he forces her to do it the hard way. For a siren's song would be sung and consume his thoughts of nothing but serving her every whim if that was what had to be done to fulfill the desire in her heart. > The Rainbooms > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- You slowly rubbed your eyes, making sure to not hit your glasses as you blinked a few times, leaning against one of the walls in the school gymnasium. Today was...god what was today? Late Middle to late November for all you knew. Maybe early December? You hadn't been keeping track of the date lately. And who would if you knew about a girl that liked you but was actually a talking pony from another world AND tried to take over the school with dark magic. Sure it does make her interesting, but it has it's downsides. The girl you were talking about was Sunset Shimmer, a good friend of yours and the Rainbooms. The Rainbooms was a very recently formed band by Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Applejack, and Rarity. All who are good friends of yours after you saved Sunny's life about two or three weeks ago. It had been a crazy, confusing, and most certainly unsettling first two days here at Canterlot High. To think you came here to avoid trouble and instead you landed right into it on day one. You slightly smiled in thought as you recap the events of those first two days. A new kid at a school after a near death experience, a crazed psychopath out for control, and a girl in danger. If you had white armor or a white horse, which may be possible, you'd say your life was a fairy tail with how it ended. With the crazed psychopath Katherine and her accomplice Cobalt going to jail. That does remind you of Cobalt's sister though. But before you can recap any longer a voice, probably Pinkie, booms over the dozens of students that were all making posters for their own bands. Hah, you had almost forgotten about the musical showcase that started in a few days from now! Apparently, the entire school had formed into at least a dozen or two bands, each set to perform their own song for entertainment and fun. Everyone else rallied around other bands. No one was going to win a prize, it was solely to unite everyone in the school even more after the Fall Formal a month or two ago. Though...you disliked to talk about it and so did Sunset, to her it was a nightmare and a wake up call. To you it was a bad memory for a friend you cared deeply about. Your mind mentally froze at those last words. 'Deeply cared about'. For the past few days your heart has been fighting itself enough to be called a civil war between if you actually love Sunset...or not. A big part of you said you did and you should at least ask her out. But something kept holding you back when she was near. Nerves? The fact she was a pony from another world? Maybe it was her past actions here at CHS? Or maybe a part of you thought she wasn't the one... You couldn't contemplate on it any longer as you lift your head up in attention to the sudden, awkward silence that had filled the Gym. You spot Sunset in the middle of the room as she was walking over to you and the Rainbooms. The entire student body was watching her and whispering, clearly they all hated her still. "Didn't think the entire school would be in here," she said somberly as she reached all of you. She folded her arms across her chest and stood by the wall near you, giving you a quick smile before looking at the Rainbooms. You also look at the group just as Pinkie pie and rarity held up their sign, "What do you think guys?" Pinkie asked, "Too much glitter and frosting?" "You used frosting?" Flutters asked in return. Pinkie answering with a nod and pushing the sign against the shy girl's face for a few seconds before pulling back. You held back a snicker as you saw that Fluttershy's face was covered in frosting and glitter now. "Uh Fluttershy, you got a little something..." Applejack told Fluttershy as she pointed to her own nose. Fluttershy moved a hand to her face and got some of the glitter and looked at her hand. Then she looked at everyone else and smiled, asking, "Did I get it?" "Heh, not exactly," AJ replied as Sunset took out a cloth and moved to Fluttershy, cleaning off her face. Meanwhile you're trying to not bust a gut from Fluttershy's silliness with the frosting. Couldn't she feel the cold stuff on her nose? You quickly killed off your impending laughter as Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna walked into the gym, and you weren't the only one that went silent. The entire gym had gone still and quiet as Principal Celestia walked over to the stage and grabbed a mic. She then walked back to the center of the room and turned the mic on, giving it a quick test. Once it was obvious everyone was watching her she began, "Good morning students! I'm so pleased to see that so many of you have decided to take part in the Musical Show case we will be performing a few days from now here at CHS!" The gymnasium filled with an uproar of cheer and clapping, showing just how excited everyone was for this musical showcase. Hell even you joined in on it by clapping along with the Rainbooms and Sunset! Who wouldn't want to hear many bands perform for free? Unless you wanted to donate after the showcase that is. Principal Celestia motioned for everyone to be quiet, quickly restoring order. Then she spoke up again, "I'm sure many of you still have some parts of your song to fix up and signs to finish, so keep working on them. The more people that come to watch the more donations we're likely to receive to help out the school." Oh she had no idea, many of the signs around here were only halfway done. You've heared a few bands such as the Illusions and the Crusaders to know that most of the focus for everyone had gone to performance than show. Which is a good sign for attracting donators. "I think this'll be the most exciting event we've had since the Fall Formal two months ago!" 'Wait what did she just say?!' You screamed to yourself mentally. But nothing could be done to control the damage, everyone's eyes turning directly to Sunset and frowns appearing all around. Enough frowns to probably make Pinkie bust out a party from no where. You look to Sunset, the effect was immediate on her. The poor girl blushing badly and hitting the wall with her back, sliding down to the floor. She hid her face in between her arms and legs, your hand moving to the top of her head a moment later to try and comfort her. Thankfully Principal Celestia gets everyone's attention once more as she goes through some announcements. Apparently there would be yet more new students coming to CHS, so everyone was to make them feel welcomed. But sadly she also announced that the school's water pipeline was leaking again and water would be shut off for the rest of the day. Much to the dismay of the athletes. While the Principal finished up the announcements, you crouched down and put yours hands on Sunny's right arm. You gently shake her and speak, trying to get her to come out, "Come out Sunny." She let out a groan, "No! This is too embarrassing! And don't call me Sunny in public...it's more embarrassing..." You resist the urge to chuckle, she did hate it when you used her nickname in front of other students or people in general beyond her circle of friends. You try again, "Come on Sunset, the Rainbooms need to practice and I'm sure you'd like to listen to your friends play right?" She huffed and lifted her head out from her hiding place, staring directly at you. A few seconds pass before you both start to smile, "Alright," She said as started to get up. You decide to be a gentlemen and help her up, despite her small, though silent protest. You heard a snicker looked back to the Rainbooms, seeing Rainbow Dash covering up her mouth as blood starts to go to your cheeks. AJ whacks her on the back of her head a second later. Rainbow had always teased you and Sunny ever since she told them about you saving her and her crush on you. After Rainbow frowns back at Applejack, you turn your attention to the rest of the gym, already emptying through the entrances. It only took a dozen or so seconds before the Rainbooms packed up their poster making supplies, despite the massive mess with frosting Pinkie made. You helped by carrying the art tools while Pinkie took the sign. Walking down the hallway with them near Sunny, you all head to the room the Rainbooms use to practice undisturbed with permission from the school. As you all walked down the hall you turned your attention to Sunset. Who apparently whips her head to face away from you, turned out you just caught her staring at you again. The poor girl, as you learned, has never had an actual, real crush before in her entire life. She didn't know how to deal with her feelings probably, especially since you knew about them. Deciding to ease things for her, you glance your head from the right to the left, looking at Pinkie. She looked back at you and gave you a big, goofy grin. God the girl was probably born from happiness and sugar itself. You swore that only a serious issue like injury or death would kill that smile or grin she always had. Death...to think you actually tasted it once. It's scary to say the least, but hopefully something you won't have to go through again. You couldn't help but lightly shiver despite your jacket as you avoided crashing into other students. The chilling thought of meeting a knife inside your gut again was...unpleasant to think about. Thankfully you don't have to think about it any longer as you arrive at the door to the room for the Rainbooms. Rarity, being in front, opens the door and you all walk inside the small, though useful room. It was usually used for choir practice, but the choir had formed their own bands...so...yeah. You walk over to a table that's against one of the walls and set down the art supplies there. Pinkie walks in a few seconds later without the poster. She must've hung it up on the door that she just closed...or ate the frosting. But you decide to not ask her that, you can check later. Then you walk over to the old, useless piano that Sunset was sitting on. She smiles at you and you smile back before turning around to face the Rainbooms. They were already setting up their instruments and tweaking some of them. Then you hear Sunset sigh, "Guess they're all still mad about the fall formal huh?" She asked no one in particular. "Well," Rarity said, "I wouldn't say mad...just a bit upset that the fall formal got interrupted!" She then nodded, as if sure of her own words, "But don't worry dear. We've forgiven you and I'm sure they will do so soon. They can't be mad forever." "Can't they?" Sunset replied. Suddenly Pinkie appears between you and Sunset, nearly scaring your heart into your throat as you try to not let out a panic breath, "Well you did take the crown from Twilight, turned into a demon, and then turned everyone else at the school into your own personal zombie army to conquer another world!" Pinkie said cheerfully as she made transformation and zombie motions. It obviously didn't make Sunset feel better when you looked at her. She lowered her head and eyes and hugged her arms with her hands, "I turned into a raging she-demon Pinkie. Who does that?!" She sat up again and took a deep breath, "The old me was just terrible huh?" The Rainbooms kinda shrugged and looked to the side as AJ nodded slowly. Sunset looked at you then, as if silently asking for your opinion. You put your hands up defensively, "I wasn't here for that, so I won't make a comment on it." She seemed satisfied with your answer as you both look at Rainbow Dash, who replied, "Well either way in the end we all became friends from that little episode," She said, "Right Fluttershy?" a smile before looking at her friend. Flutters jumped a bit, but then smiled and nodded, "It was scary, but it turned out well in the end. I've never seen people so friendly to each other every day at school before!" Rainbow nodded and looked at Sunny, "See, no hard feelings. Now come on, we gotta practice for the showcase!" The Rainbooms then grabbed their instruments and got into a position to play. After a few words between them, they decided to go with 'Better Than Ever'. You smiled a bit, the song itself was pretty good and even easy to dance to...sort of. Pinkie put her drumsticks into the air and hit them three times, "One, two, three!" Then the Rainbooms began to play their song and sing, "There was a time we were apart, but that's behind us now. See how we made a brand new start and the future's looking up." "Ah-oh, ah-oh!" "And when you walk these halls you feel it everywhere. Yeah, we're the Wondercolts forever. Ah-oh, yeah!" You couldn't help but grin slightly and bob your head with the music. Casting a glance at Sunset, who was doing the same. You managed. You managed keep your surprise to a minimum when the girls gained longer hair and pony ears. You've already seen it happen a few times. "We are all together, Ah-ah-oh-oh-oh-oh." Now it's better than ever, Ah-ah-oh-oh-oh-oh." You can feel it, we are back and I'm so glad that we're better. Better than ever!" The Rainbooms began to simply move with the beat and music of their instruments. Swinging their hips and bobbing their heads,"Wa-oh-ooo-wa-oh. Oh yeah, we're better than ever! Wa-oh-ooo-wa-oh!" Rainbow picked up the next vocal line as she and Fluttershy came close to both you and Sunny, "There was a time we couldn't see past the differences." Applejack was next, swinging her Bass around, "That separated you and me and it left us in our own." Pinkie hit her drums a few times, "But now you walk these halls and friends are everywhere." Once again everyone sung the next lines, only this time you joined in as well, "Yeah, we're the Wondercolts forever. Ah-oh, yeah!" Rainbow and Fluttershy went back to the others as you began to tap your foot to the beat with the bobbing of your head. You looked to Sunset, who was looking back at you and giggling. "We are all together. Ah-ah-oh-oh-oh-oh!" "Now it's better than ever. Ah-ah-oh-oh-oh-oh!" As you all continued to sing, Sunset got off the piano and stop right by your side, smiling and bobbing her head with you. Feeling a bit courageous, or possibly moved by your heart, you tap Sunny on the shoulder. She looked at you and offered your hand to her in return. She blushed lightly and got the message, taking your hand with hers. You both held a hand or both and began to dance together and sing along with the Rainbooms. "Now that we are back on track. Yes I'm so glad that we're better. Better than ever!" Sunset smiled at you and you smiled back. Taking another gambit and holding onto both her hands, you move quickly to keep the motion going as you lift one arm and twirl Sunset around. Causing her to tense a bit in surprise at first, but then she smiled and actually laughed! But then she accidentally bumps into you, putting her hands on your chest as you looked at her and she looked back, both of you blushing. "Wa-oh-oo-wa-oh! Oh yeah, we're better than ever!" "Wa-oh-oo-wa-oh! Oh yeah, we're better than ever!" "Wa-oh-oo-wa-oh! Oh yeah, we're better than ever!" You slowly let go of Sunset as she backed up a step from you, putting a hand on the back of her head. You looked over to the Rainbooms to see they lost their pony ears and longer hair as they stopped playing. They all set down their instruments as Rarity spoke up, "I still can't believe that happens when we play!" She said before obviously getting an idea, turning and starting to whisper to herself. It was obvious to everyone what she was talking to herself about. Their transformations. As if to answer if you were correct, AJ spoke, "Ah wonder why that transformation stuff happens when we play our music together. Princess Twilight took her crown back to Equestria and it's what had all the magic in it, right? So why would we still transform if the magic is gone?" Rainbow shrugged, "Well...we didn't exactly have magic here in the first place, how should we know?" You scratched your chin, looking at the Rainbooms, "Perhaps it has to do with some kind of bleeding effect. Maybe when you used the magic from the crown, as you all told me, perhaps some of the magic bled out into the environment. Like radiation with uranium." You could see Rainbow was about to call you a nerd when pinkie threw a drumstick at her, causing it to stick in her multi-colored hair. Instead Rainbow pulled it out of her hair and looked back at Pinkie, who was smiling innocently back at her. Rainbow then shrugged and turned back to Applejack, "But in the end who cares? It makes my band total 20% more awesome!" 'Oh shit, bad idea Rainbow.' you thought to yourself as Rarity gasped and turned to face Rainbow. "Your band?" "Well duh," Rainbow replied as if it was known to everyone, "It was my idea to form the Rainbooms, plus I'm lead guitarist and singer." Before anyone else can add to the question of it being Rainbow's band, the door opening and you all turned your attention to it. Only you wished you hadn't when you saw just who it was. Flash Sentry. You mentally sighed to yourself. Apparently Sunset and Flash had some history together, and by history you mean they dated for a year, possibly two. Though they later broke up. Either way for some reason you just never liked seeing the guy...wait, you aren't jealous are you?! Nah you couldn't be...no wait, maybe you are. He did date Sunset, who likes you and you might like back. Hell you just did a small, short dance with her! Perhaps it's best to stop fighting with yourself and figure out what he's talking about with the Rainbooms. You look to Flutters, Rarity, and AJ. Only to see none of them are happy. Knowing Flash couldn't have made them mad, it must've been Rainbow making the others sound not so good. She's done this three times now and it's begun to make the band so, it up just a bit. Or so you believe. "I don't suppose any of our friends from ah, out of town might come? Being a charity event and all." Flash said. You already knew who lover boy was talking about, who didn't know? Too bad for him she can't come here anytime soon. Seems AJ had the same idea as she told Flash what you just thought, about Twilight Sparkle being unable to come here for a long time. "Oh," He said, "Alright, uh...just thought I'd ask," he said as he began to back away, "keep on rocking i-" You snuff out a snicker as lover boy hits the wall instead of backing out the door. He blushed in embarrassment and quickly made his escape. "Well," Rarity said, curious, "Someone quite the smitten kitten~" You bit you lip, then spoke, "Ah, Rarity," She looked at you and you motion your head to Sunset. You looked at Sunset with Rarity, noting she didn't seem so happy now. "Oh, sorry dear! I always forget you and flash you to an...ah...item," Rarity said, apologizing as she glanced back at you. Sunset looked up and waved a hand dismissively at Rarity, "It's okay, Flash is a great guy and all but I never liked him liked him..." You hoped not. "...I was using him to become more popular." Ouch, how much of a bad girl was she? Course then you have to mentally slap yourself to clear out any...perverted thoughts. God you need to clear your head from your heart's never ending fight. Applejack walked over to you both and smiled, putting an arm around Sunset, "The important thing is that you turned yourself around sugarcube." Sunset slipped out of AJ's arm and smiled, "Thanks Applejack, but I believe everyone else in CHS is gonna be holding a grudge for a long time." Before you can offer some comforting words, the PA system comes with Vice Principle Luna's voice, "Sunset Shimmer, please report to the main foyer." Sunset slipped right by you and looked back at all of you, "Gotta run, I promised the Principal I'd show some new students around the school. I thought it would be good for them to get to know the new me before they learned about the old me." You smile a bit and follow after her, "I'll come with you," You say. Though she looked at you for a second, she then smiled and nodded. Leading you both from the room and down the hallway. You could still hear Rainbow though, "We still got a few minutes before lunch time, what do ya we do Awesome As I Wanna Be?" Oh god Rainbow Dash....you swear she does that shit on purpose. You're not sure why Sunset hasn't said anything to them about it yet. You looked at her and she's looked back at you a second later, "So who are we meeting exactly?" "Three new girls," she replied, then looked at you mischievously, "Why~?" You roll your eyes but smile as you look ahead, "No reason." She chuckled and bumped hips with you, "Come on, I'm just teasing. But in all seriousness you can just stay quiet if you want while we show them around." You nodded. Deep down a small part of you was feeling uncomfortable, almost as if it knew something wasn't right here. It took your mind a few seconds before something clicked. Those three hooded strangers weeks ago on the day you saved Sunny's life were all girls... > The New Girls > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As you walk down the last hallway to the main foyer, your mind can't help but wander. If these new girls are similar to the one you saw, the blue one, this could spell more trouble. You remember the girl had shown off a grin to you, but you couldn't tell if it was friendly, mischievous, evil, or all the above. If that was possible. You feel a tap on your shoulder and turn your head to face Sunset. She nods her head forward and you look forward, seeing the foyer and what appears to be three girls waiting. Actually they appear to be standing in a spot that is somehow dark. Ominous... "Hey," Sunset whispered, "The one in the middle is named Adagio, that's A-da-shi-o, not A-da-gi-o. The one on our left is Aria, and the one on the right is Sonata. Got it?" You give a quick nod and say an, "Alright," to Sunset, though you mind kinda liked the name Sonata out of those three. As you both approach them, you wonder if you should speak up or let Sunset do the talking. "Hi, are you the new girls we're supposed to meet?" Well nevermind then, guess she's taking the lead. The three girls walk out of the darkness that really shouldn't even be there, their clothing was...an interesting choice. In fact you were sure they couldn't be sisters, they dress way too differently. The one on the left, Aria, has short sleeves that appear to be torn off, yet the other two don't. The one in the middle, Adagio, with an unbelievable amount of hair has hand gloves, but the others don't. Finally the blue, Sonata, one has bracelets with spikes but the other two- Wait what, a blue girl?! You do a double take as you heard a voice, probably Adagio, "We are," she said as they adopted a pose that suggested they've been waiting to do that for a while. You look to Sunset who smiles and then turned around to begin the tour as she talked about CHS. You also turned around, but your head was turned a bit as you watched the girls out of the corner of your eye. They almost seemed to be watching you both, especially that Sonata girl...in fact that smile of hers seems familiar. "CHS is a great place. It has some ups and downs but you'll love it here," Sunset said. Ups and downs didn't begin to cover the recent events here. "Oh yes," Adagio uttered, "We sense there's something...magical about this place." Okaaaay...that's also ominous. Could they know about...no that's not possible. You turn your head to look forward again as Sunset began to point out class rooms here and there. Your mind was working with fear poisoning its thought process. Three girls in the past, three new girls here. One of them blue like the one seen weeks ago. Coincidence? Very unlikely. It only fed more fear into your mind, why would they appear now weeks later? Something...something was wrong here, you aren't sure what it is. But- "...Is having a big musical showcase! The whole school is practically rallying around this charity event." You stop and turn around, seeing the girls had stopped at one of the musical showcase posters. You take a few steps to reach them, taking a look at Sunset who seemed to give you a frown for a split second before looking at the new girls again. You look at the new girls again as well, only to see Sonata is watching you more than anyone else. She flashed you a smile, which made your mind pause for a few seconds. She wasn't that bad looking and her clothes seemed hand made, which was cute. 'Whoa, where did that come from?' You thought to yourself. On instinct you flashed a quick smile back before both of you then turn your attention to the others. Adagio seemed amused when she learned about the showcase as her eyes looked back to her companions, "A...musical showcase?" She half-asked half-stated. You looked at Aria and Sonata, who had both gained smiles, or smirks, on their faces. "Well yeah," Sunset said, "I'm sure that even though you're new, Principle Celestia will let you three sign up for it." You heared Sunny clear her throat, "Uh...what instruments do you all play?" "We don't play instruments, but we sing from time to time," That voice came from Aria, it was...a bit deeper than you expected. She also seemed..bored? "Well actually what Aria means is that we sing like...well...an awful lot. How do you think we survive on a daily basis?" Sonata stated. Her voice...god that voice seemed to sweet and innocent, almost like a mix of Pinkie's and Fluttershy's. For a second you suspected they might be just...normal girls. However your eyes move to Adagio, seeing her turn around and make a motion with her hand as she grunts. Aria seemed mildly panicking as she looked at Sonata, who seemed innocently confused, "What? What'd I say?" "What you meant to say," Adagio said as she turned to face you and Sunset again, clasping her hands behind her back, "Is that a musical showcase is a great way to meet the entire school, isn't it Sonata?" Wait what, that's not what Sonata said at all. Seemed Sonata thought otherwise though, "Oh, right. What she said is what I meant to say. Meeting students and all that." "Something you would've said," Aria replied, "If you weren't an idiot most of the time Sonata." Sonata seemed a bit hurt as she put her hands on her hips and leaned closer to Aria, "You're the idiot Aria!" Before either you or Sunset can say a word, Adagio gets in between you both and her friends, "You'll have to excuse them, they're both idiots," Adagio said as she flashed an annoyed glare at them both. Sonata and Aria move a step or two away from eachother and look different ways. You look at Sunset who looked back at you. She shrugged and looked at Adagio again, you did the same and found her playing with a red pendant with her fingers as she watched her friends. "Hey," Sunny said, "Those are pretty," she continued as she began to reach out to the pendant, "Where did yo-" Sunset stopped speaking as Adagio suddenly grabbed her arm by the wrist. You tensed up from watching it as Adagio had a hostile look on her face for a second. Adagio suddenly lets go and lets out a deep, possibly fake laugh, "Sorry!" She said, "These pendants mean an awful lot to us, given to us by all by a...special friend. We wouldn't want to lose our only physical memory of him." Adagio put a hand to her pendant and began to walk past you both. Aria followed right behind but as Sonata pasted by you, she seemed to give you a smile and a quick wink. While you didn't believe your eyes, the damage was done as it caused your heart to beat a bit faster for a second. You watched her go as a result. In fact, you watched the new girls go until something hits you on the back of your head. You put a hand on the back of your head and turn around, looking at Sunset. She had crossed her arms and was staring at you. "What?" You asked as you took your hand off of your head. She unfolded her arms and poked you in the chest with a finger, "You like one of the new girls don't you?" You blinked a few times at her, she was jealous wasn't she? You put up a hand defensively, "Hang on now Sunny," you say, "We just met them. I can't just fall in love at first sight can I?" She eyes you and then sighs, turning away as she began to walk down the hall. She mutters something as you begin to follow her, "Let's just go to lunch," she mumbles. Well, now your heart went from beating a bit faster to feeling damaged. Realizing your mistake, you jog to catch up to her and put a hand on her shoulder. She looked at you, it was hard to tell her emotions from her face. She had gotten well at hiding her emotions. "Look, I'm sorry if I offended you by saying that. Sometimes I forget about your crush on me. I-I mean I only forget it during certain- you see what I mean," you decide to stop talking and shut up, looking away in embarrassment. However, you hear a light, amused, feminine giggle, "You're cute when you get flustered and tongue tied." She said as she gently took your hand off of her shoulder. You saw her smiling at you, jealousy forgotten, "Now come on, the lunch bell should ring so-" *Riiiiiing* "N-nevermind," she mumbled as you chuckled. She playfully punches you in the side as she starts to walk faster, "Come on on slow poke! I don't want a long line, plus...those new girls are acting strange and the others should know." You started to walk a bit faster with her to lunch, "Yeah...something's off about them. Perhaps we can find out later after a good meal." She chuckled, "Read my mind cutie..." You smirk a bit, "What was that?" She looked away as you both turned a corner and went down the hallway to the open cafeteria doors as the hallway began to fill up with hungry students, "Nothing!" She quickly said. You let it slide, for now. But a few bits of you felt... Uncomfortable. Despite being in a now sea of students in the hallway, a part of you personally even felt... ...Watched. Sonata Dusk waited with Aria and Adagio as the hall became empty once more. If the schedule was right it was lunch time, all the students would be in the same place at the same time. The perfect time to sing and begin Adagio's plan. Of course, before the hallway had emptied, Sonata had gotten a bit lucky. She had caught a glimpse or two of the guy that had been with Sunset, she didn't didn't know his name, but she had found out he was from Hoofington. Apparently something happened there and forced him and his family to come here. What made her blood boil instead of her heart race was that bacon colored bitch. She had kept an eye on them both after they had left the poster to go to lunch. It was obvious Sunset liked him, but she couldn't tell if he liked her back...or if he just hangs out with her. But thinking about it made the Siren's blood boil and caused her to tighten her hands into fists for a few seconds out of jealousy. It was her first actual crush, why couldn't it be easy? "SONATA! Are you even listening?! Sonata jumped in surprise from Adagio's sudden yelling. She looked at her friend and nodded her head a few times. Adagio narrowed her eyes at Sonata, "What's the plan then?" Sonata's eyes widened, "It's...well..uh...it has to do with...lunch?" Adagio hit her face with a hand as Aria chuckled next to Sonata, "Probably thinking about her crush, as usual." Sonata could feel her face becoming red, "I-I was not Aria!" She somewhat yelled at her friend. She felt hands go to her cheeks as Adagio turned Sonata's head to make them face to face, "Sonata..." Adagio started, "Just try and focus for the rest of the day alright? Just listen to my plan, you'll enjoy it." Sonata sighed and nodded slowly, making Adagio smile and let go of her cheeks. Adagio then looked back into the cafeteria and took a deep breath. "The plan is simple, we use the musical showcase against the school. We still have enough negative energy to make our voices just strong enough to make them want something so badly, they'll fight each other to get it!" "That's it Adagio?" Aria asked, bored, "so we do what we always do, stir up for trouble and feed off of the negative energy in order to survive? Some plan." Adagio huffed, "It's won't be the same as the times before Aria! There is Equestrian magic in there and if it's lingered here long enough it should make this energy more...pleasing to us. Their negative energy will give us more than enough power to make this ENTIRE world to do our bidding...then we take over Equestria." Sonata watched her friend before looking at one of the many posters along the wall, "Oh! But can we get lunch after we cause the trouble? We gotta eat you know!" Sonata looks back at Adagio, who gets in her face. Adagio points a finger at Sonata, "Just follow my lead." "Or my lead," Sonata and Adagio both look at Aria who's thinking. Sonata watches in amusement as Adagio grabs Aria by her jacket and pulls her closer, "MY. LEAD." Adagio uttered slowly and threateningly, making Aria look away. Adagio lets Aria go and walked away as Sonata started to giggle and bit on her finger to stop herself, watching Aria grumble and pout. When Aria has calmed down, the three get into position behind the door, Adagio smirked, "Remember girls, make them want to win the showcase, make it into a battle." "Make it into a Battle of The Bands." You set down your lunch tray on the table and sit next to Sunset with all of your friends. They look at you as AJ spoke up, "So how'd it go?" "Well," you say, "It went...okay perhaps? They acted rather strange." Sunset nodded, "They did. It was like they...already knew about me or something. I can't...put my finger on it, but something is strange about them." You nodded, only to look at Pinkie who's looking hyperactive as usual, "Oh oh! Where they strange like this?" She asked as she moved her hair around to give herself a fake moustache, "Or strange like this?" Is time she moved her hair out of the way, put two carrots in her mouth to be like fangs, and hade some salad as eyebrows. "Oh! Or-" You see Rainbow put a hand in front of Pinkie, "Maybe we should let them tell us?" She said as she motioned to both you and Sunny. Pinkie smiled and one of the carrots fell out of her mouth, making you snicker in amusement. Then you clear your throat, "Well Adagio said they sensed something magical about this place. I don't think she meant the magic that allows you to transform when you play music but-" Suddenly you all hear a loud *WHAM*. As you all turn to one of the Cafeteria entrances, you spot the exact people you were talking about. The three new girls, but some thing was off...they're...they're... They're singing? "Ah-ha-ha-Ah-ha." "Ah-ha-ha-Ah-ha." "Ah-ha-ha-Ah-ha." "Ah-ha-ha-Ah-ha." The first few lines alone seemed to draw you in as you couldn't help but watch them slowly move and sing. As your eyes mostly watched Sonata, you couldn't help but see a light swing in their hips with each step. "We heard to want to get together~" Adagio begins as her friends continue their first lines. "We heard you want to rock this school~" "We've got something that is better." As Adagio continued, you saw she...began to touch people on the head as she walked by? That's weird...but they also begin to resemble a creature you remember learning about in history...what was it? "Something that changes all the rules~" By now Adagio. Aria, and Sonata had everyone's attention, even your own. But something in the back of your mind was screaming in panic, currently muffled by the sound of those...lovely voices. "Why pretend we're all the same?" "When some of us shine brighter~" "Shine brighter~" Adagio then moved around the room for a few seconds before continuing as she touched yet another student on the shoulders, "Here's a chance to find your flame~" "Are you a loser or a fighter?" Adagio continued as she moved away from the nerd in an almost seductive way. Her question seemed to light a fire in you, but something in your head was trying to extinguish it. Why? It clicks in your head then. For a second your mind clears and the screaming in the back of your mind reaches your ears. These girls are acting like Sirens from Greek Mythology! But they are only seen in the Mediterranean! Unfortunately your mind starts to slowly fog up as their song continues, more noting you from asking yourself more questions. "Me and you, you and me. Why don't we see who is better?" The three said together. "We don't have to be one in the same thing!" "Oh what's so wrong with a little competition?" "Are you afraid of failing the audition?" That question sparked a slightly bigger fire. Yes..what was wrong with a bit of competition? Wouldn't people pay to see bands compete? As you looked at other tables, it was obvious you weren't the only one thinking this..perhaps the Rainbooms thought so as well! They could easily win an audit- "Whoa...what's happening to me?" You ask yourself as you put a hand to your forehead, a sudden throbbing pain has engulfed your mind. It felt like someone was stabbing you there with a knife. Your vision goes black a few seconds later from the extensive pain you felt. ... ... ... You can hear their singing still. It's pounding against your eardrums, invading your thoughts. The sound of Siren singing should have taken control of you by now, yet you still had some freedom! But one thing keeps repeating itself over and over and over again inside your head. "Battle!" Eventually, it sounds as if everyone is singing with the Sirens. You were sure by now they are Sirens...nothing else would have have this affect with singing. But they aren't like the ones from the Greek mythology...otherwise they wouldn't be completely human looking or on a continent. As the word battle repeats a few more times you attempt to get up, feeling a hand starting to shake your back. Your groggily open your eyes and look to your right, seeing an entire student body chanting with the Sirens, and concerned friends all looking at you and then at the sirens again. You woke up in time to hear the last line at least: "Battle of the bands!" You take a big gulp as you shake your head again, "W-we need to go...a-away from them! The new girls!" You say,as if you were drained and panicking at the same time. The Rainbooms look at you and nod, Sunset helping you up to your feet. You're bit shaky as you stand up, the song having ended and the students now arguing and fighting with one another. Curses, taunts, and even a few racist comments can be heard over the crowd. The Rainbooms and Sunset go with you as Sunset helps you to one of the other exits. When you're out of the cafeteria Sunset looks at you in explanation. Which you give a tired shake of your head in return. As you all moved away you slowly felt better, more in control. But a few things were bitting at your mind and attacking your heart. How and why are Sirens here at CHS? What do they want? To take over the school? Seems that way. How can you defeat a mythological creature? Why are the cute girls bad guys at first or all the time? That last question made your heart burn and some sweat roll down your forehead. Your heart never made things easy for you. But why it had to replaces it's civil war over your feelings for Sunset into a new, nagging question of if you had feelings for a new girl that was an evil siren.. Well it wasn't on the top of your list. You're more concern about staying free and defeating this new evil threat. Least you had friends to help you a lot with that, this was as much of their home as it was to you...for a school anyway. But how come you are all still free, and why did you have that black out level of a headache in the middle of their song? > On Our Own? > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After your head had cleared up fully, you, Sunset, and the Rainbooms had begun to make your way to the Principal's office. You were very much positive that those girls had the traits of Sirens, or even are Sirens! But... But now that you think about it more clearly, that just sounds insane. As mythological creatures, actual sightings of Sirens have never recorded with pictures or video. They are as real as Bigfoot. This is why you've kept it to yourself for now, you don't want the girls to think you've gone insane from passing out or something along those lines. Speaking of which, why did you pass out from the sound of their singing? If your assumption had been correct about them, you shouldn't pass out. Instead you should've been influenced like the rest of the students. You should've also been chanting for a battle of the bands. But instead you had a sudden headache that caused you to pass out, why? Why that instead of losing your freedom like you should have? Actually...maybe the Rainbooms knew? You don't remember seeing them chanting or moving at all, but you could be wrong. Hell, maybe you're having an awkward dream and you're still in bed on a Friday morning. You have a sudden defensive reflex and put your left hand on your right arm, someone had pinched you. You look to your right and see Sunset giving you a concerned look. "What's up?" She asked. You shook your head, "Just...thinking. You already know something's up with them right Sunset?" She nodded. You nodded back, "So what's your guess?" She raised an eyebrow, "My guess?" She looked forward for a moment. As you looked at the other girls you could see they were all watching and listening. Your eyes return to Sunset just as she spoke, "They're obviously after something and whatever it is, it involves the school as a whole. They used the same tactic you guys used when you were all trying to get the crown for Twilight," Sunset said as she made a motion to her other friends. They all nod, Rainbow opening her mouth, "You mean the whole dance routine, where we got everyone's votes for the Fall Formal. But you don't win anything for the showcase...which is a battle of the bands now. Not that I have a problem with that." You looked at Applejack, who was smiling, "Whatever they're after, they won't get it. All we gotta do is tell Principal Celestia, and bam! They'll be kicked to the curb and barred from ever walking on school grounds again." "That's if we can prove they're dangerous Applejack," Rarity said, catching everyone's attention. You noted you were all nearing the Principal's office. "Well someone think of something fast then," You said as you looked at them again. Most of them began to look around, unable to think of anything. Then Sunset snaps her fingers, "Dark magic! The sudden arguing and fighting between the students was unnatural after all. We tell her they're in possession of dark magic and that's it for them." Everyone nodded as the groups eyes looked at the door to the Principal's office. You go ahead first, opening the door and walking in before holding it open for the girls. You get some nods and smiles as everyone fills the room. Your eyes look over to the desk to see the Principal looking at some papers with the Vice Principal before they both look up at you and the group. Celestia raised an eyebrow as she set the papers down on her desk. She puts her hands together and waits silently as you close the door. It takes a few moments before Sunset takes a step ahead of the group, no doubt going to speak for everyone. "Principal Celestia and Vide Principal Luna, we believe the new girls that arrived here earlier today are in possession of dark magic. We saw them suddenly come into and singing in the cafeteria. As they did this, the majority of the student body quickly joined them and suddenly became divided. Arguments and yelling quickly broke out in the cafeteria afterwards." As convincing as those words should be to any principal that something was amiss, Celestia only raised an eyebrow once more. The she sat up fully, "Or perhaps they simply swayed the students to have a battle of the bands instead of a musical showcase with a song. The students the took sides with bands they thought would win, it's just like the song that happened in the cafeteria about two months ago just before the Fall Formal." Vice Principal Luna nodded as her sister finished, "That or Sunset could be trying to make some new girls appear to be a bad element for lighting a bit of competitive fire in our students. Cover up her past actions, especially those actions at the Fall Formal. You walked up to see how Sunset was coping. Her mouth was half-open as she couldn't muster a reply. You'd say something as well, but your hunch is more crazy, and probably insane sounding, than dark magic. Or is it? However, before you can give your hunch a chance to be heard, Rainbow pushes past You and Sunny. She placed her hands on the desk, looking the Principal in the eyes. "Principal Celestia, we saw this all go down in the cafeteria with Sunset! While I agree a random song doesn't sound off, the fact that they were touching students continually during the song is strange right? Not only that, but they had these glowing pendants as they sung. That has to be strange." You watched the Principal, trying to gauge if she was convinced. She looked as convinced as if you had told her there were flying Pegasi outside the school that were pissing out rainbows. The Principal leaned forward and looked Rainbow back in the eyes, causing the multi-colored girl to lift her hands off of the desk and stand up. Oh...perhaps you shouldn't tell anyone about the Pegasi pissing out Rainbows thing. Rainbow Dash would kill you. "Aren't the Rainbooms suppose to be in the competition?" She asked. Everyone, including you, looked at Rainbow. She looked from left to right before looking at Principal Celestia again, "Well yes, but I don't see what my band-" "Our band," You hear Applejack say, annoyed. Something to talk about later it seems. "-Our band," Rainbow continued, "Has to do with these new girls and what they just did." "Perhaps you're just worried the Dazzlings will out perform the Rainbooms," Vice Principal Luna said. You blinked and your sure everyone else did as you open your mouth, "The Dazzings?" You asked, "We weren't aware that they were in a band." Celestia nodded to you, "They are, that's why they came by my office just as lunch started. They signed up for the showcase and even sang a song to Vice Principal Luna and I," she said, her voice sounding a little dry now. "They..they didn't?" Fluttershy asked behind you, thankfully heard by all. Principal Celestia nodded again, "Yes and after a bit of discussion with vice principal Luna, we have decided a battle of the bands would be far more entertaining. It would also no doubt catch attention for possible donators or even sponsors. That is if we award a prize for the winner." "Which we will," Vice principal Luna stated, "After you all leave our office so we can figure out what the prize shall be. If you're curious about it you'll have to wait till Monday on the day of the battle of the bands to hear about the prize." You stayed still as you looked at the others, most of them having signs of defeat and shrugging. You sigh and look to Luna, nodding to her, "Yes Vice Principal Luna," you say before turning to leave. Thankfully it appears the girls get the idea and walk out of the office with you. After you're outside you take a few more steps before turning around to face the rest of them, Sunset coming out last. She seemed a bit...Dejected, must be due to the Fall Formal being brought up. Instead of comforting her you decide to focus on the bigger problem for now. You look to Rarity, "Hey Rarity, do you know anywhere we can all go? Preferable where we won't be heard or be suspicious." Rarity looks at you and nods, "Yes, I believe the statue out in the front of the school will do. No one will be around it at this time usually and it's not suspicious with how open it is." You smile and nod, "Lets go there then, make a plan or something...better than standing around." The Rainbooms and Sunset nodded in agreement. You all head out to the horse statue in front of the school. For all you knew it was a normal statue, but it was a symbol of the school. Turns out it's never been vandalized before, good for them. Back in Hoofington the school statue of a Bull was constantly vandalized. As you all reach the statue you take a minute to admire it as the girls settle down around it. You let out a hmm after awhile and look at the girls. Whatever is happening, your instincts are telling you that your hunch is right. But you don't want to sound like a lunatic, Sirens taking over a school? What would their point in doing that be anyway?! "I can't believe they got to the Principal and the Vice Principal too, we have no one to turn to for help!" Fluttershy said as she looked at a ladybug on her finger. "They got to everyone!" Rainbow said, sounding angered, "The students, the high school staff, even the principal herself!" "Not everybody!~" Pinkie says in an almost sing song voice. Her statement, however, did catch your attention. If the students, staff, and principal seemed to be swayed by their singing, how come you all weren't swayed? Actually, come to think of it...for a minute back in the cafeteria you had also felt the fire that was lighting up, the desire for a battle of the bands. Then you had a painful headache and fell unconscious. Why? Pinkie's right y'all," AJ said, her country accent filling your ears once more, "If they were getting to everybody, how come we're still in control of ourselves?" Every stopped and thought for a minute, no one spoke. It almost seemed as if no one had a clue. "Well..." Fluttershy said, "Maybe there's something inside of us all that protected us from their magic. Stronger magic maybe? Isn't that the only way it can be countered..or-or not?" she whispered the last two words, probably suddenly feeling sheepish. You hear a snap of fingers and turn to Sunset, "Fluttershy's right!" She said with a smile. "She is?" You asked, a bit confused. Sunset nodded, "Yes. A thing I just remembered from my studies under Princess Celestia back in Equestria-" 'oh boy, here we go,' you think to yourself. "-I had taken a study about magic, obviously. A thing I remember is that magic that is generally stronger than other magic will almost always win. Like two fire balls casted by different unicorns can be same thing. But if one has more magic poured into it then the other, the one with more magic will do more damage." You and the rest slowly nodded, listening to her as you had no idea what she was talking about. "Okay..." Rainbow says slowly, "So we have magic inside of us that is currently stronger than the new girls and their...magic. How do we use it to best them?" Sunset opened her mouth, but then closed it. You sighed out loud to yourself, then a thought crosses your mind, "Wait, if there is magic inside of you guys that protects you...why was I protected?" Everyone turned to look at you, signs of confusion on their faces. The girls looked at one another and then shrugged before looking at you again. Then you here Applejack sigh looking at her just in time to see her look up to the clouds and cross her arms. "Ah wish Princess Twilight was here. She'd know how to use the magic inside of us and fix this whole mess." "Well that ain't gonna happen," Sunset says as she knocks a fist against the base of the statue, "Portal's closed for at least another 14 or so moons. By then I'm sure we'll be under the Dazzlings control...or worse." "Whoa whoa whoa!" You say quickly, "Hang on a minute. What portal are you talking about? Are you saying that-" you point to the statue, "-Is a portal to-" You can't finish your sentence as Sunset suddenly goes from sitting down to right up in your face and covering your mouth with a hand, "Quiet!" She whispered, "Do you really want to point out a way to a place where a stronger source of magic is when we don't fully know about the Dazzlings?" You silently shake her head, causing her to take her hand off of your mouth, "Good," she commented before turning to look at the statue. "Well we need to find help soon," Pinkie says on top to the statue, "I sure don't want to be unable to throw anymore parties." Suddenly Sunset turned and started to jog past you to the school. You turn around and look at her, "Where are you going?" You call. "Just give me a minute!" She yells, not answering your question, much to your frustration. You sigh and walk back to the statue, turning around and leaning against it. Whatever she was doing, it better not be unrelated to this problem. Sunset put in the last number in her locker combination, hearing the click that told her the locker was unlocked. She opened it and liked down to a box, reaching down into it to find what she as looking for. She eyes did take a few seconds to look around the rest of her locker, a smile adorning her lips as she saw a familiar picture. The picture had been taken in a Café about a week ago. It was a picture of her the Rainbooms, and the new guy all smiling at the camera. She couldn't help but smile a bit wider as she saw him in the picture, her heart beating a tad faster. "Heh," she said aloud, "He's not so new around here now is he?" She grinned slightly as she looked inside the box again. It took her a few seconds to find what she was looking for, an old book. Well it wasn't that old...but it felt like she hadn't seen it in forever... Plus it was covered in dust. She used a hand to wipe the dust off of the front cover, "Hope it still works," She whispered to herself as she closed her locker and turned left to start heading back others. Having high hopes they could get the help they needed to beat this new thre- Sunset froze and her eyes widened. She had come face to face with one of the three new girls, the blue one to be exact...if she remembered her name was Sonata Dusk. Sunset took a step back and frowned at Sonata, holding the book at her side and lidding her eyes a bit, "What do you want Sonata?" The person in question had been standing still for the past minute or so, her arms crossed as she frowned back at Sunset, "I came here to tell you one thing, but now I have two things to say," she said as she took a step closer to Sunset. Sonata unfolded her arms and pointed a finger at Sunset, "One, whatever you're hoping for out of that book won't stop us and two, stay away from you-know-who." Sunset raised an eyebrow, confused by the second part, "Uh....I get the first part, being enemies and all. But what do you man by the second part...stay way from the Rainbooms? Your friends? The students and staff in general?" Sonata let off a growl, surprising Sunset since she didn't seem to be that violent. Sonata poked her with a finger just above her breasts, "You know exactly who I mean! You hang out with him all the time," She said before retracting her finger standing up fully, "Well I got news for you Sunset, he won't even think about you in a few days. You'll just be a memory to him, maybe not even a memory~" This time Sunset growled, which didn't surprise Sonata who had a smirk on her lips now. Sunset took a deep breath and let out some air before speaking again, "He won't fall for you Sonata, he already deducted that you're evil and is working against you." Sonata huffed, "That's what you think, but when this is all over he won't think about what I've had to do in the past to survive. He'll think about all the fun times we've had togeth-" Sunset took a step forward, her face inches from Sonata, "You stay away from him you hear me?! Don't you dare harm him in any way or you'll see a new side of me." Sonata pushed her forehead against Sunset's, "What new side? Your demonic side? I think everyone already saw that at the Fall Formal! Besides, I don't plan to hurt him at all...not physically anyway. I'm not as heartless as you think," She said, pulling her head away from Sunset and taking a step back. Then she flashed an innocent smile at Sunset, "I can easily try the obvious dating route. Something I'm sure you've had...trouble with. Of course with a past like yours, I wouldn't be surprised if even the jocks didn't want to date you due to your...bitchy past." Sunset growled at her for a few seconds and showed her teeth before she backed away from Sonata, hurt by the many old memories returning into her mind. She turned around and started to walk the long way back to her friends. She could hear Sonata chuckling behind her, which only made Sunset grit her teeth. Those three, especially that...bitch needs to be stopped. Simply saying the word bitch in her head made her shiver. She hated her past, she hated it so much just thinking about it made her want to her cry. She lifted her free hand to her eyes, wiping already forming tears. She didn't want any of her friends or him, who was slowly becoming more and more important, to know she had almost cried. She had to be strong...weakness right now wouldn't be good for anyone. That...that and she did not want to seem weak to the first guy that actually made her heart soar and flutter. Sonata couldn't help but let out a deep breath after Sunset disappeared twenty seconds ago. She glanced around before she turned to walk down the hall the opposite direction Sunset had walked. She has ruffled up Sunset's feathers as she wanted to, hoping she'd back off. Sadly it appears she didn't the opposite, but she seemed hurt, or at least mad. Sonata's right hand went to her pendant, touching it. Her face, once with a smirk, now had a sad frown. This pendant...it had been a blessing and a reminding curse to her, she never had something that gave her so much happiness in her life. Ever. Even if it was a crush, this was the first time she had a chance to have so much happiness. There was no way in Tartarus or hell she would give this up. As long as she had her powers she wouldn't lose her chance. But...a part of her held her back from just going out and using her siren magic to make him under her spell for good. It scared the siren, despite how old she was she had never experienced this kind if fear. Perhaps it was...fear of rejection? Sonata shook her head, that was silly of her to think. A siren afraid of rejection?! If Aria and Adagio ever found out she even thought if that they'd laugh at her, for a siren can't be rejected when they can make people adore them...with enough power of course. "I should get back to them, gotta make plans for the day of the battle of the bands on three days.," She muttered to herself as she walked. Perhaps everything would work out in the end for Sonata...maybe soon she can stop being who she is right now and be happy. Or perhaps she's doomed to be this way for her entire existence...however long that is now, for sirens of her kind live a very very long time... You let out a grumble as you stared at Pinkie, who was smirking at you. You had climbed up to the top of the statue to play a game of cards with her once Applejack had given up after losing for the third time in a row. Unfortunately you weren't having any better luck. The pink menace had beaten you five times in a row in quick concession! How the hell she kept getting the better cards you didn't know, but you were getting very frustrated now as she kept her smirk up, clearly knowing how frustrated she was making you. You were about to voice your frustration when you heard a door open. You look to the school and see Sunset running over, just in time to see her close a book she was holding. You give her a smile and she smiles back as you hear the girls getting up and walking behind you. "So what is that?" You asked Sunset, pointing to the book. She holds it up to show you all of it, "This is our ticket to calling for help outside of this world," She said with a grin. You saw it had the same symbol as the one on her shirt you've seen an awful lot of. N-not that you've been staring at her shirt! God that sounded perverted to you. Your cheeks feeling slightly heated up as you tilt your head to the right slightly, "Care to explain?" You asked her, wanting to know what she meant. Sunset opened her mouth to speaks, but then she closed it and smiled. She pointed behind you, promoting you and the Rainbooms too look behind you all. You see a part of the statue now lighting up brightly...like...wait! "I'll let her do the talking," You heard Sunset say. Making your mind wonder. Just who exactly was about to appear before you? But there was a far more important question occupying all your thoughts. Whoever it was, did they have exactly the answer you needed to answer the question on how to best these new foes? Or would they be just as clueless as you all ran around in circles trying to figure out how to win against something you weren't even sure existed? > Plan A...does it ever work? > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- You watched the statue carefully as the glow from it got very bright. Actually thanks to that glow you had to look away for a split second, which was all it took before the glow disappeared and the sound of skin and fabric meeting ground could be heard all with a feminine yelp. Though it was all quickly followed by a collective, "Twilight!" Being shouted by the girls. You blinked a few times to clear up your vision and looked at the girls and then to your left to see who they were looking at. In front of you, and possibly lightly injured, was a pale, light grayish orchid girl. Her hair has moderate sapphire blue with moderate violet and brilliant rose streaks. Twilight, whom must be the ones the Rainbooms have talked about from time to the and earlier today, had a purple colored skirt with a big purple star and a few stars around that one. She also had boots (big surprise) and a light purple shirt on her person. The Rainbooms and Sunset run past you as the girl on the ground turned her head and let out a mumbled, "I'm back." You noticed her moderate violet eyes, which went well with her purplized outfit. As you watch you see Sunset reach the girl, or Twilight, first and offer a hand to help her up. Though Twilight seemed hesitant at first, she took the offered hand and pulled herself up off of the ground. The Rainbooms a quickly hugged their friend as Sunny steeped out of the way. Not wanting to have her, or yourself, feel left out, you walk over to the group to her side. Though you heard her let out a long sigh as she stared at the girl before she looked at you. You could understand her pain and- Oh who are you kidding? The shit you been through so far is better than what she has had to wad through. At least if the whole demon thing hadn't happened she might have more friends than she does now. She might also be a bitch still if it didn't happen, but she wasn't one when you got to know her. Especially right now, she was probably one of the nicest people you knew, course no one is nicer than Fluttershy. You shook your head, 'Not the time to contemplate the past,' You thought o yourself just as you notice Sunset smiling to you. Chuckling slightly, you carefully put a hand on her shoulder. Which she turned into a one-armed hug as she moved closer to you, something you didn't mind . Even if your own feelings were questionable at best, you wouldn't let it get in the way of helping a...friend. Who just so happens to be a girl, but not your girlfriend yet she- "-Got some bad news about those new girls." You blinked and looked directly at the group to see them separate slightly as they let out a collective, "Aww," Of disappointment. Twilight then looked at Sunset and you before blinking. She then points a finger...or her entire hand at you, "But first," She said, "Who's that there with Sunset?" Rarity giggled, which prompted you to slightly squint at her. Though it appeared she was unfazed by your gaze as she opened her mouth to answer, "Oh him dear? Just someone who saved her life, became our friend, and..." She stopped, pausing as she squinted back at you and smirked. You could feel Sunny shuffling in place against you, Rarity wouldn't dare! "...And also became Sunset's big and group known crush." You could feel your cheeks heating up from the statement and the attention as you look at Sunset. She didn't seem to fair much better as she looked down, embarrassed as you could hear feminine giggles. Attempting to make her less embarrassed, you squeeze on her shoulder, which caused her to look back up and at you. Her face reddened even further, eyes locked with yours as you couldn't feel any reason to look away from her. A loud cough could be heard as it reached your ears, causing you both to look at the group which had been watching your little exchange with Sunny. Feeling your face flush even more, you tried to speak up, "Y-Yeah, pretty much what Rarity said," You mutter out loud. Which only seemed to spike up the giggles again, much to your embarrassment. Twilight waved a hand, "Well now that my question has been given an unexpected answer, were should we-" Before Twilight could finish her sentence, Pinkie is on her like a guided missile. Grabbing her by the arm and starting to pull her away from the school, "Oh oh! I know the perfect place! There's this great café a block or two from here!" She said happily as everyone followed after her and her new 'hostage.' "Pinkie Pie," Applejack responded, "Don't ya know we still have school today? Ah'm not sure if we can waltz right out of the grounds right now." You watched Pinkie as she let out a, surprisingly, annoyed breath of air, "Oh AJ, don't you know with the band competition everyone is gonna be too busy practicing? With the entire thing being on Monday there isn't much time for everyone to prepare so we don't have classes now!" "I-I.....how do you-" AJ just shook her head, "Ya know what? Ah'll just believe ya Pinkie," She replied as no one else argued. In truth Pinkie was probably right, she might be a nine year old on a sugar rush but she could be damn useful when it was important. You and the girls made your way off campus and down the street, following Pinkie as she didn't let go of Twilight's arm, despite her protests. Around you the city was bustle and alive, unlike how it was a few weeks ago. It was odd, but something you couldn't question. Despite how bad Hoofington was, there was times most of the city was quiet if a football game or a convention was in town, one thing that brought the crime-ridden city together was good old sports or conventions. You felt a bump against your right hip. Looking to your left, you see Sunset smiling widely at you. You smile back and raise an eyebrow, only to find her suddenly holding your hand. While a part of you felt like objecting, but a bigger part of you felt like this was...right. In a way it was nice, holding hands with a girl who's life you've saved. Lets you know you did the right thing. It doesn't take long for a café, a rather busy one at that, to come into view as you all round a corner. Pinkie eagerly led you all across the street, not checking to see if it was safe. By either a stroke of luck or...well...luck, it was completely safe to walk as your group made their way to the café doors. The doors open and a familiar face walks by after giving you all a nod. You knew her name was Vinyl Scratch, otherwise known as DJ-Pon3. It was surprising she was a popular DJ even though she hasn't finished highschool yet. You felt Sunset let go of your hand rather reluctantly as you all walked into the café. Following Pinkie and the still arm held, but no longer complaining, Twilight, they led you all to table with a couch and a few chairs around it. Pinkie, Twilight, and Rarity sat on the couch while Fluttershy sat on one of the chairs. Seeing Sunset sit on one arm of the couch you sit on the other arm of it, silently wondering why it was even in a café as Rainbow went to get some milkshakes for everyone. In a few minutes Rainbow is already back with milkshakes for everyone, even you. How sweet of her. Taking your milkshake, you take a much needed sip with the straw, putting it in your mouth as you watch the girls. Most of them so far idly sipping, everyone no doubt waiting on Twilight. Your eyes drift down to the new girl as you stop sipping and let the straw leave your lips. So if she came through the portal that, in theory, led to Equestria. Does that make her like Sunset? You watch Twilight put her milkshake on the table and open her mouth, prompting everyone to stop drinking and listen, save for Pinkie. "So," She started, "According to the message from Sunset, you've all encountered yet more creatures from Equestrian trying to take over your school?" The Rainbooms nodded as you looked to Sunset, seeing her wiggle on the seat and fold her arms. Even mentioning what she did in the past affects the poor girl...It's depressing for her isn't it? Seeing your past and only seeing a monster there. Something you couldn't stomach, course you haven't exactly tried to rule over others, take over a school, or use magic from a pony land called Equestria! You gaze falls back on Twilight, who's looking right at you, "And he's, from what I've learned so far, the first to suspect something was amiss with those new girls?" "Actually," You replied in full honesty, "Sunset suspected something was wrong at the same time I did. If anything I would've kept to myself if she didn't speak up about it." Twilight blinked and turned to Sunset, as did your gaze. Sunset lightly blushed from the sudden attention, "They didn't act right and Adagio was very hostile and protective over her pendant. Like, life threatened protected, felt like she tried to rip my arm off for a split second when she grabbed my wrist." Twilight nodded and glanced at every else before opening her mouth again, "Alright, tell me more. So you saw them all singing in the cafeteria and everyone rallied around them? Did you see anything weird while it was happening?" She asked. You looked around at the others as the paused to think for a minute. You haven't seen anything weird beyond the sudden singing and the students wanting a Battle of the Bands instead of a Musical Showcase. That and your awkward, unexplainable reason for passing out and the pain in your head. "Well..." You looked over to Fluttershy, as did the others. The attention caused her to meep before- Wait, that purple dog in her lap....when did she get a dog? You knew she worked at an animal shelter but she didn't have room for more personal pets......did she? You shake your head slightly and try to listen once more. "W-well I noticed some strange...green clouds and I suspected that it could be fr-" Rainbow covered Flutters mouth with a hand, causing the girl to stop and stare in surprise, Rainbow Dash responding, "Say it was from the tacos and I'll kill you before throwing up today's lunch," She said, clearly serious. Everyone stared at her for a few seconds, especially you. Course Rainbow wasn't going to hurt Fluttershy, you knew that, but...green clouds? That got your interest, and judging from now Twilight looks it garners her interest as well. "Green clouds?" Twi asked. Hey you got a nickname for her already! Didn't even need the others to say anything about nickname- you should probably stop cheering to yourself listen to her..."When exactly did they appear Futtershy?" She asked, urgency in her voice. Futtershy let out an audible gulp, "R-Right after everyone else started to argue and all, it was a bit scary..." Twilight nodded, possibly not taking any interest in Fluttershy growing quiet, "It's as I feared then. I already knew they used dark magic from Equestria but to use dark magic here and through the emotions of your kind here...with the different biology it could be a problem for anyone with only raw Equestrian magic inside of them..." Everyone, especially you, seemed confused as you spoke up, "A problem? What kind of problem? Because I know the Rainbooms have magic inside them don't they?" Twilight looked to you and nodded, "Yes, but it's not raw Equestrian magic as the magic inside of them is from the crown. Which had more refined magic inside of it, of course the problem here is that those with raw Equestrian magic are still protected from the Siren's spell. But....it's not as strong nor as efficient, which brings up a question," She finished as she furrowed her brows at you, making you feel just a tad uncomfortable in her gaze. The rest looking at her and then you didn't help. You take a deep breath, but a bit shaky, "A-And that question is?...." "The question," Twilight continued, "Is how come you aren't under their spell? By all means you should be under it as I don't remember you gaining any Equestrian magic and as far as I know it's impossible for you to have gotten any...even raw magic!" She exclaimed, prompting the group to mutter and then stare at you. You felt a few beads of sweat starting to appear on your face. You didn't have an explanation as to why you weren't under their...spell as Twilight had put it. In fact perhaps you are under their spell, the the Dazzlings, or Sirens, are cute looking girls after all even with their interesting...attire. Though considering their species the attire shouldn't be surprising, yet you find a slight...pang of attraction to one of them. No, no it can't be attraction. More so it's probably a bit of lust, much to your embarrassment. But it would make sense, the way they dress, how they move and speak...it would be impressive if you didn't have any lustful feelings inside of you. However right now the more important matter at hand is to figure out WHY you aren't under their spell and being their slave or spy. You take a deep breath and open your mouth to speak, all the girls eyeing you closely and calmly, "Perhaps I have a resistance to magic, or perhaps they can choose who it affects and for some reason haven't allowed their magic to affect me?" You said hesitantly, unsure of your own words. Twilight shook her head, "No, their kind of magic is what you'd call an area of effect. It doesn't have certain targets, just one big area that is affected," She replied, which surprised you seeing how she wasn't from this world, yet knew a term the military would use to describe certain weapons. You nodded to her, "Then how come I'm not under their spell? If you recall I haven't had any contact with them before but I've had contact with all of you...minus Twilight of course," You said aloud, gesturing to the others. You saw Sunset carefully lean back and fold her arms, muttering out, "Not sure where you're going with that...except, wasn't there a time you did have contact with them? Two weeks ago when you saved me from you know who and we were passing three hooded girls on the way to my house? One of them bumped into you," Sunset then blinked and looked at you, "Then there was the time earlier today when we both saw them again, though there wasn't any physical contact." You shrugged, looking at the others who just seemed confused. Then you see Twilight move out of the corner of your eye, prompting you to look at her. "Regardless," She started, "Aa long as he stays with us for the day we don't have anything to worry about." Oh great, now you're a prisoner? "Now...has anything else besides more magical creatures appearing and trying to take over your school for power?" Twilight then paused, turning to Sunny and blurting out, "No offense Sunset!" Sunny sighed but nodded, "None taken...again," She stated, seeming a bit down now... Twilight nodded, only for you and her to hear Rainbow clear her throat. You both turn to look at Rainbow Dash who sat up and pulled out her phone, "Well that certainly isn't all that's happened," She put in her password and tapped on the screen a few times before turning the phone around and showing you both a picture of herself, only she also had wings and pony ears. You already knew about this transformations, heck you saw it happen to them again this morning! Regardless Twilight hadn't seen it before and you could only imagine her reactions, but it did leave a questionable thought in your mind. If they can transform, how much magic from Twilights world is actually here? How much danger does that put everyone in if these Sirens win? "Interesting," Twilight murmured out, "More magic from my crown was left behind here than I thought, meaning the Dazzlings could easily regain their powers and take over not just this world but my world as well!" She said in a somewhat worried tone, which didn't help the slowly tensing atmosphere. You let out a deep breath, "So in short we have until they regain their powers and, considering we have a battle of the bands now, that means we may not have much time right?" Twilight nodded, glancing at the rest, "He's right, with the amount of students that go to CHS I'd say they could find enough magic to undo the spell that binds them to this world!" She exclaimed. "Hang on now," Applejack replied, "What spell?" "Oh...well you see-" Twilight started, only for you to realize Pinkie has stopped sucking down her smoothie. "There was this ultra powerful wizard from where you're from, who died hundreds of years ago, and he banished the Sirens to our world using a really complex spell. But if the Dazzlings get enough magical power stuff from here they could break the spell and go in between your world and our world at will, if they have enough power." What?......your brain couldn't even seem to function for a few moments as your eyes glanced over the others to see their reactions. Each one was similar, rather shocked and confused at the same time, but everyone knew when Pinkie seemed to break the laws of physics not to question it. So even this got exempted from the rules, but that was just ridiculously absurd! "H-how..." Twilight shook her head, "Nevermind. I should be use to that by now from you Pinkie." "So Twilight, could you at least give us the slightest bit of gossip from your world?" Rarity asked as she leaned closer to Twilight. You too, were quite curious. News from another world was sort of like meeting aliens, which made it feel rather exciting to hear! You carefully leaned only a bit closer, carefully to not accidentally fall into Pinkie. Though you highly doubt you'd land on her at this point since the laws of physics don't exist for the sugar-filled girl. "She's got her own castle now, defeated yet another villain from our world, and has an official title!" A male-like voice stated. That voice confused You as You looked at Fluttershy and the dog she had in her lap, where You heard the voice that. Despite that Rarity was now questioning Twilight about the castle and Sunset sounded a bit envious of Twilight, You raised a eyebrow, "Fluttershy...was that you?" You asked questioningly. Everyone looked at You, as if You had asked a stupid question. Fluttershy even looked extremely confused, "No...that was Spike." She slowly replied to your question. "But of course, what? Didn't they tell you about me as well?" The dog said. You swore silently that You had either lost Your mind weeks ago and You're still in the hospital in a coma, or Pinkie Pie slipped something into your milkshake. You took a deep breath and glanced at the others, finding Rarity and Rainbow looking away from Spike, "I guess they did," You stated, a bit upset. "Figures," Spike grumbled before munching on a doggie treat. "Anyway..." Twilight stated, causing you to and the rest to look at her again as she cleaned off some of her milkshake that got onto her shirt somehow, "Since the Sirens already control most of Canterlot High's students, we have to break the spell they've casted and defeat them at the same time. If we only do one, especially breaking the spell first, then the Sirens could have a fallback plan. We only get one shot," She stated before taking a breath, "So where can we find them?" Well, you didn't have a damn clue, something you really should work on. If you had to take a guess, it would probably be somewhere in the school or at least near it...unless they had a place of their own? It would complicate things then. "There's a big party starting later tonight for every band partaking in the Musical Showcase, which is a Battle of The Bands now. Since almost the entire school is partaking in it, everyone, even the Dazzlings, will be there," Pinkie suddenly blurted out as she sucked some of her milkshake off her straw, probably having missed it before. But at least she had the info everyone needed Twilight giggled at Pinkie and nodded, "Then we have a party to crash girls...and guy," She said as everyone got up to move out. You didn't mind the late response to your existence, as you weren't like them. But... What if it doesn't work? Three hours later... You, Sunny, Twilight, and the Rainbooms entered the gym where the party was being held. Twilight had insisted going over the plan again half an hour before the party, so at the very least it was quite clear what would be done. You and Sunset would mingle with the rest of the party goers while keep an eye out on the doors for the Sirens. The Rainbooms and Twilight, meanwhile, would hang out around the buffet table where all the food and drinks were...for some reason. You and Sunset were probably placed away just so neither of you would get in the way. At least you won't be alone though. You and Sunset broke off from the rest of the group and made your way to a semi-clear area which gave you a good view of the gym at least. You looked at Sunset, whom was looking around the room for a few seconds. Then she looked at you and smiled, "Hey there." "Hey yourself," You replied to her, "So...magical Sirens. Anything else from your old world I should know?" Sunset chuckled and shook her head, "I think this is the worst we'll see for a long time," Sunset replied to you before glancing away, "So...we have a little time it seems. If you wouldn't mind me asking you a question," she asked somewhat nervously. You pursed your lips in some thought but nodded, "Go ahead Sunny." She rubbed her shoulder with her hand before looking at you directly, a slight blush on her cheeks, "Well I wanted to ask you if you'd like to g-" Before she could finish, you both heard a pair of doors opened and yo looked behind yourself. There was no mistake as three girls walked into the filled gym, the Sirens had arrived to the party. Though you were curious as to what Sunset was going to say, it would have to wait until another time as she let out a huff. "Nevermind, I'll have to ask you later," She said as both you and her moved a few steps to get a good view of your friends and the Sirens. So far it appears they've noticed the Sirens, but would take a minute to get into position to end this slowly growing nightmare. Of course, it appears one of the Sirens has noticed You as well. Sonata to be precise, she did flags and smile your way before looking at Aria, whom both quickly seem to boil into an argument over fruit punch and grape juice...expect the bottle Sonata had with her was labeled as apple juice. You honestly couldn't tell what they're truly thinking, or planning. Perhaps the argument was planned to make it feel easy to beat them...or not? Who the hell knows, you're just about done with your brain going back and forth and then sideways about all of this. "...Isn't going to be a Battle of The Bands!" You blinked and looked to the Rainbooms, seeing they're in position as everyone in the gym stopped and looked at them as well. Even the Sirens. "Alright girls," Twilight said as they took hands together. Twilight took a deep breath before shouting, "Friendship is magic!" As the girls closed their eyes. ... ... *cough* "Nothing's happening...why isn't anything happening?" Sunset spoke out in a whisper, more so asking herself than you. But this was a problem...a big problem. Nothing was happening, the Sirens aren't defeated or even injured. Which means this nightmare of songs will only grow. > Plan B and A New Form of Nightmare > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- You and Sunset watched in fear and horror as absolutely nothing happens. Which, in this case, was one of the worst outcomes for this plan! Now you weren't exactly intelligent on the subject of magical energy and defeating mythical creatures that shouldn't even exist in your world in the first place, but you're pretty damn sure that the plan called for magic to, somehow, be used and defeat the Sirens. You looked to Sunset, who locked eyes with you in return. You could see the worry in her eyes, neither of you expected or planned for this to happen. However, it's happened and now you all must quickly find a new plan...and fast! Suddenly you heard a single voice speak out, "Talk about throwing down the gauntlet!" You and Sunset both turn at the same time to see Adagio walking and talking, having grabbed everyone's attention, "Rather cocky though aren't they? Thinking they've already won the finals and beaten everybody?" Adagio said, putting emphasis the word everybody as she finished with a smirk. You knew she knew what she had done, for the effects of her words very quickly became obvious to You and the others. The gymnasium suddenly lit ablaze with arguments, countless students in bands or supporters of bands began to argue with other bands and their supporters. It was like a riot-level of arguing, but without anyone inflicting physical injury on anyone else. You and Sunset make your way to push through arguing crowds to regroup with your friends in the middle. Once you reached them, you all looked around at the ensuring, but rather organized, chaos. "This is a disaster!" You hear Twilight cry out, "Why didn't it work?!" "Ah don't know why it didn't work Twi," Applejack replied, "But standing around here isn't gonna give us the answer." "AJ's right," Rainbow spoke aloud, "We should get out of here, go somewhere that no one else is at and think of a new, and better, plan." You heard a grunt, which sounded like resentment, but couldn't tell where it came from. However there was no time to figure it out for yourself, your friends were already leaving the gymnasium. You quickly follow behind the group, trying to pass and ignore the arguing students. Your mind was already going to work, trying to grasp a possible plan. So the plan failed, but it shouldn't have given that, from what you know, they should've been able to use the magic, which they apparently just so happen to have, and used it to defeat the Sirens! Yet instead NOTHING happened! You shake your head as you reach one of the door that would lead you out of the school gymnasium, stopping your thought process for a moment before you burn yourself out trying to wrap your head around the concept of magic and it's use in a world where it shouldn't exist, yet should be completely able to defeat creatures that also shouldn't exist in the same world where magic shouldn't exist without a problem!........Wow, thinking about it like that would really make you sound slightly insane or troubled to someone if not for the incident at the Fall Formal that happened before you moved to Canterlot. You let out an unheard sigh of displeasure as you exit the gymnasium with the girls. Whether or not you could come up with a plan, you didn't know. After all, you had NO knowledge on the Sirens beyond what Twilight had brought from her world, and that knowledge revealed absolutely nothing useful on how to defeat the Sirens besides the fact that they need energy for their power which strengthens their voices and thus allows them to gain more energy for more power to strengthen their voices further! Besides, even if they couldn't gain anymore power as of right now due to, say, being unable to mind control anyone, the question on how to get rid of all their power still remains. ... Perhaps you should stop contemplating on the fact that the Sirens have a never ending cycle of increasing power and it was getting late...perhaps all of you needed a good night's sleep. Although...time was never your friend, and it most certainly isn't now. Approximately a few quiet, empty, lit hallways and a doorway leading outside later, you and the group were outside Canterlot High. You took a seat next to Sunset on the steps that led up to the doorway that also led back into the school, most of your other friends also sat down upon the white stairs, though Pinkie sat on one of the railings instead. However, Twilight was left standing in front of you all, pacing back and forth as she clearly babbled out worry. Yet, despite your own worry, you payed little attention to the words that dribbled out of her mouth. Your own fears were actually placed on when you fainted, or blacked out, during the song done by the Sirens in the cafeteria. Twilight had said that if one had even raw Equestrian magic in them, they'd be safe from the Siren's spell. However, you had no such magic in you since you never had direct interaction with the crown from Equestria like your friends did, meaning you couldn't have have any magic whatsoever. Yet, here you are still within your own free will, but that doesn't explain the pain nor blackout which accord earlier. Perhaps, putting it in total theory or guessing, you did have something that protected you from the Sirens? If so, then what? It couldn't be something found in your world, given nothing from here can protect against them except physical violence which you'd rather not use given to everyone else they haven't done anything wrong and you could end up in jail or dead. It would therefore have to be something from Twilight and Sunset's world, but the only known thing is magic. What if...nah, feelings couldn't possibly be why. That does bring up the question Sunny was about to ask you, which sounded an awful lot like- You feel a sharp jab from an elbow into your left side, looking over to Sunset who had an eyebrow raised, "I'm guessing since you seemed like you were trying to figure out the keys to the universe you have no idea of the new plan?" You slowly shake your head, causing Sunny to chuckle with a smile, "So what is our new plan?" You asked her, which prompts your good friend to focus. "Twilight and the Rainbooms are going to play a musical counter-spell during the band competition, since it's the only other time everyone will be in the same spot and we can break the Dazzlings' spell," She replied back. "And us?" You asked, raising an eyebrow of your own as to what you two may be doing to help out. But instead of a happy answer, Sunset lets out a disappointed sigh and folds her arms, leaning back and looking at the group in front of you both. "The same thing we've been doing, keep an eye on the Dazzlings, help out if needed, but otherwise do nothing and watch," She said with obvious distaste and a frown. Enough to cause you to put a hand on her shoulder, making her gaze turn to you and almost instantly turn her that growing frown of sadness into a small smile of happiness. You smile back at her before looking at the rest of the girls, only to find Pinkie has, somehow, pulled out a selection of instruments and is showing them to Twilight. That led your mind to an intriguing question, why haven't they asked Sunset to join the Rainbooms? Given they're friends you'd think they'd all be in the same band together, though granted they've been having a few arguments here and there but all friends have those right? You had to admit you wouldn't know an awful lot about friendship, but your friends back in your hometown did teach you a thing or two along the lines of it. "Hey, can I ask you something since we have the time?" You heard Sunset say, her voice catching your attention from it's straightforwardness. "Yeah Sunset?" You responded, curious as to what she may be about to ask you. However, Sunset was silent for a moment or two. This quickly created an atmosphere of awkwardness as you hear Twilight saying something about singing, only from Rainbow to speak up questioningly about it. Sunset's cheeks were slowly getting red, her hands were gripping both of her arms now. Yet, after a deep breath, she looked at you with a sincere smile. "Would you like to go on a bit of shopping with me tomorrow? It's not like the mall or anything, just a bit of stuff I need for a hobby of mine," She paused for about two seconds before continuing, looking you in the eye, "Unless you don't want to go, I'd understand and all. But I would like to hang out more with you beyond school," She stated, the last few sentences having gotten rather quiet, almost Fluttershy quiet. The wheels in your mind were ever so slow to turn and realize what was going on. But that didn't take too long, thankfully, as you realized what she was meaning behind her words. Sunset was, in a way, saying she wanted to spend more time around just you. Your heart was starting to beat faster from this, as you realized she wanted to hang out more with you because she likes you, a lot, for just you. Even if just you is boring and too normal or standard. You clear your throat, catching her attention. "Yeah," You say with a smile, "I'll do a little shopping with you tomorrow Sunny," A grin was starting to grow on your face. In turn, one was appearing on her own face as well, no doubt due to the prospect that you're giving her a chance she wasn't expecting anymore. After all, she did have issues getting along with other students, but honestly, you felt like she was giving you a chance instead of the other way around. "Then it's a date?" She asked you for clarity. You nod to her, "It's a date." Her grin only grew wider as she playfully jabbed your shoulder with an elbow. Both your attention and Sunny's, however, is drawn to a single sound of clapping. Clapping that is coming from Rarity to be precise, and by god you swore the gossip girl had it out for you and Sunset, because it did not take her anytime at all to draw attention to you both from the others. "It's so lovely to see you two are going to give it a shot darling!" She said with a smile to you, which you did not expect given earlier. The other girls took note with nonchalant giggles, causing your cheeks to heat up in embarrassment. "Rarity, you best not spread this around the school you hear?" you said with a slight threat in your voice, however Rarity seemed unfazed by that. "I wouldn't dream of it darling, I never spread gossip about my friends outside out our nice, friendly group," She replied with an almost devious grin, but all you could do was trust her. Both you and Sunset stand up and get off of the stairs to join the rest of the group, only to find Twilight and her talking dog walking up the steps to the school, but you were beaten to the punch of speaking out in question by Applejack. "Where ya'll two going Twi?" AJ asked out. "Well last time Spike and I were here, when we had to get the crown back from Sunset, we spent the night in the upper part of the school's library," She said, pointing upwards to the dome on top of the school. But that raised an intriguing question...How in the seven hells did she spend an entire night in the school library and not get caught by the school?! You seriously think someone would've seen her walk into the library, like the librarian, and never walked out. You seriously began to think it was more than just the easy transfer process the school had here, but relaxed rules as well. Actually, it kinda does. "Are you kidding me?" Pinkie said in what could've been disbelief, or not, "we're besties now and besties don't let other besties sleep in libraries alone! So we're gonna have a Slumber party at my house tonight! You and Spike can ever stay over the weekend with me!" She said as she not only hugged them both, but lifted them in the air, while on the steps of the stairs, without any difficulty. Sunset looked to you with a cute smile, "So you coming over to Pinkie's with us?" You shake your head, "I think that would be rather awkward for one guy and six girls to all be having a slumber party together don't you think?" She lets out a laugh and nods, "Yeah it would be pretty awkward, Rarity would probably put makeup on you in the night for the fun of it," From the sound of her voice, Sunny sounded like that would actually happen to you. As the girls conversed you decided to say your goodbye to Sunset. "Guess I'll be heading home then, where should I meet you Sunset?" You asked her, since you had no idea if you should meet her at Pinkie's or wherever you guys will be shopping. "Just meet me at Pinkie's at about...8 AM tomorrow. I should be dressed and ready to go by then," She said, almost immediatly answering your question. You nodded to her in return, said your goodbyes, and then went home. Since, apparently, there would be no classes, there was no reason to go for your backpack and bring it home with you. This was probably caused by the Sirens, given they were here for power and not study lessons. On your way home your mind was left to wander, your date with Sunset, the six girls that were your friends, to an extent, and the three Sirens. Didn't Pinkie say a wizard at least hundreds of years, or ever more, banished the Sirens to your world? If so, then the Sirens probably don't age at all, given that means they could've been around during the Renaissance or even as far back as the 11th Century! Hell, for all you knew they had an impact on important events, or not at all. And yet, instead of that being something to fear, it is something intriguing. How much stuff could the Sirens know? How much forgotten history could they still have knowledge on to this day? In a way, you were a bit unhappy to know they were evil, especially Sonata. Now, while you haven't had any direct vocal interaction with her beyond introducing them around the school with Sunset, the way Sonata acts and is dressed makes her seem like she's not the villain type. You let out a frustrated sigh. All you wanted to do when you were forced to move was to have a more relaxed, less dangerous life. Instead of that you've stopped a murder from happening on Sunset, no wonder she likes you, and now you're involved with three world-taking over Sirens with the power to seduce practically any known person on the planet...Except...wait. That raises a completely new question! If they've been around for an unknown amount of time, why are they just now trying to take over the world? Twilight, or rather Pinkie and her monolouges, did say if they get enough magic they could break the spell that binds them to your world and return to Equestria. So do they truly want to take over your world, or just use it to generate enough power to return to their own? Regardless, it doesn't appear they'd just let everyone go afterwords, given that Adagio Dazzle is like the living image of more than just a Siren, but someone who can manipulate and control a crowd. Aria seems like the one that doesn't give a crap about anything, but can beat the shit out of anyone as well. Sonata...seems like the slightly clueless, carefree one. Enough to remind you a bit of Pinkie, like she's a different version of Pinkie's attitudes. You, almost violently, shake your head and open the door to your house, trying to dispel your now rampant thoughts as you head upstairs to your room. It didn't take you long to flop down upon your bed and put your hands on your head. Your head was starting to hurt from overthinking, your hands dropping to your sides as you let out a long exhale of breath. Deciding to try and get some sleep, you slid under the covers of your bed and roll onto your side, closing your eyes and, despite the slight pain in your head, eventually drift off to sleep. "You don't know us." Who said that? "But you try to get rid of us?" Seriously, who said that? "Are you so afraid of what you don't know? How do you know this isn't something we are meant to do, a cycle of life? An important element that is meant to happen?" You looked around frantically, trying to find out just who that voice is from and where it's coming from. However you could see nothing, it was pitch black. You couldn't even see the outline of your own hands or any body part for that matter! Your breath picked up in panic. "Just look at you, you seem so weak and...pathetic even, like the other nerds at the school. Yet you've fought others, survived death, and saved a life. Such the good guy no matter what I am aren't you? Helping those in need." "Who are you?!" You cry out in anger to the darkness. "Oh, feisty aren't we? You're an odd pair with those girls, the Rainbooms. What do they see in you? Someone who just needs friends, someone useful? Or perhaps just a random guy that hangs out with them?" You grit your teeth, "You don't know them like I've been able to know them the past few weeks! I may still be new here, but they're good friends!" "To you they are," the voice taunts, "But what are you to them? Just like Sunset Shimmer, you just sit on the sidelines. They aren't using you to help stop us, just keeping you at the sidelines." Us? Wait a minute- "You realize now don't you?" The voice spoke, yet still unclear as to who it was, "I'm sure you figure out who I mean by us. But let me put it like this. If they saw use for you, wouldn't you already be helping them in useful ways beyond what Sunset already does?" Well...in a way that is true. So far you and Sunny just sit on the sidelines, except that Sunset got Twilight to come to this world so...she's done more against the Sirens than you have. Was that your fault.....or...their own? Your mind was starting to fight within itself, becoming confused. how could it be your fault if you didn't know much of the Sirens? Then again you figured out for yourself how they gain power and how it's a never ending cycle. "I'll let you think on it, think about it. You don't know enough about us, how can this be any of our fault hmmmm? What if this is something we need?" "But alas, time runs short and I'm sure you have much to think on...hero, if that is what you would fall yourself." You waited a minute, then two, then three, yet the voice did not speak again. You didn't know which Siren it could've been, or how they could've invaded your dreams, but they gave you much to think on. You didn't know the Sirens beyond what they did and how they get power. They were evil, but anything that goes as far as killing life could be called evil, yet do lions hunt for sport or food? Your brain wanted to scream, it was like trying to figure out how to survive in a black hole. You needed more information, but the only thing given to you is taunts. Maybe you could ask the Siren- No! What if they were doing that to lure you into a trap?! Either way, you needed to wake up, hopefully they didn't trap you in a coma or something. "Done already? Good, I'm sure you have much to decide on in the next three days. I must sleep but you should have fun trying to get back to sleep once I disconnect." Wait wha- Adagio severed the connection, slowly opening her eyes with a slowly growing smirk on her face. "Well?' Aria asked Adagio impatiently. "He'll be confused for a time," She said, turning around to face the other Sirens and lean back against the table, "I'm sure he'll be rethinking his stance on us." "Couldn't we just tell him the truth?" Sonata asked, slightly concerned. Adagio looked at Sonata with annoyance, "You still don't get it do you? He's with the enemy Sonata! If we just go over and tell him everything, he's not going to just join up with us and date you. No, as of right now he'll use it against us and I'd very much like to not die." Sonata looked away and let out a heavy sigh, "I know you love deception and manipulation Adagio, but sometimes I think you deceive yourself." Adagio's left eye twitched, but instead of blowing up on Sonata, she took a deep breath, "I'm going to bed, dark magic takes it's tool when we're not at full power," with that statement she got off of the table, turned on her heels, and went to bed. Sonata leaned back in her chair before looking over to Aria. Aria raised an eyebrow about a dozen seconds later, "What now idiot?" Aria's eyes then widened, "Oh no, don't even think about dragging me into another one of your love or reveal an important piece of ourselves to convert someone to our side plans! You know how that worked back in the very late 17th century! We almost got hanged on the account of witchcraft!" Sonata folded her arms and pouted, "It's not my fault there were dozens of people being accused of witchcraft in Sa- Sal- whatever that place was called," She said before dropping the argument, knowing how these went with Aria, always somehow finding a flaw in Sonata's reasoning...no matter how it sounded or was formed and planned out. "Salem," Aria corrected before getting up to head off to bed, but before she left the room she turned back to Sonata, "Look idiot, if you really got to talk to him and try to convince him otherwise...go ahead. But do NOT, under any circumstances, tell him anything important about us or I will cut off your ponytail," Aria said threateningly. Sonata's eyes widened, "W-which one?" Referring to her hair pony tail and the one ponies have in Equestria. "Uh...your current one," Aria replied in her usual manner, "We don't get pony tails back in Equestria, we're sirens, not ponies." "Oh...right," Sonata said sheepishly, backing off, "Well...goodnight Aria." Aria let out a yawn and turned to leave, "Goodnight idiot," She said back before disappearing, leaving Sonata alone. Sonata let out another sigh and put a hand to her head. Aria would never drop that nickname ever since the 13th century when she mistook a horse with a heavily overgrown mane for Starswirl the Bearded and thought he had come to finish them off. She, nor the other sirens, were ever allowed within the French courts ever again. Looking out to one of the windows to the city below, she sometimes wondered if this world was a better place for them than Equestria. There was so much strife and misery, negative emotions here and there. They didn't need to cause too many issues and be seen, just feed, get what they need to survive. But it seems Adagio wants to become Queen of two worlds, with Aria and herself ruling with her as, thankfully, Adagio isn't sadist enough to harm her or Aria. Deciding she's begun to think too much, Sonata gets up from her chair, stretches, and then heads off to bed. She would find him, she would tell him, she would, nay, had to convince him why they do what they do...or at least why she does it. She could agree with Adagio's reasoning that ruling the worlds would forever keep them alive, but Adagio seemed to just enjoy causing suffering. Sonata only enjoyed it when it involved pranks, taunting, or confused the shit out of people and left them baffled. Ironically, she's not so smart in a lot of situations, as seen in the centuries of the past. But maybe if he saw their point of view, he would switch to their side? Adagio made him sound worthless, but she does that to everyone. In reality he seemed like a dork or a smart nerd, yet at the same time knocked out one guy and took on a potential murderer with his other friend that was in danger. What wasn't to like about that? Plus he was probably learning more and more about magic from that Twilight Sparkle and Sunshit Shimmer, meaning he'd know magic and he would know more about their enemies. Now while she laid in her bed and told herself what she was doing was a logical, tactical choice, her heart was telling a completely different tale, a tale that made no sense to the Siren.
