A basic self-insert fic as I am placed in the world of Equestria post-Season 4.
This just needed to get out of my head, a single drop in a sea of hundreds of HIE fics. Possibly more realistic in terms in emotions and character bashing when due.
As I am suddenly launched into Equestria by unknown means, I must survive the Equine dominant world and find hopes of returning home to my family. And..(fing-er hooves crossed) find myself a girlfriend.

Upon second thought...I'll have season 5 included in this story!
Strange happenings are going on in the pony world of Equestria, what started out as minor occurrences became a mysterious phenomenon so crazy that not even the princesses can really figure out what's happening as strange objects appear out of nowhere. The first object was nothing really special..it was a glass bulb with a tiny piece of filament in it that when shocked with electricity it lights up. But then things got more frequent and the objects became either larger or more mysterious.... a weird flat metal box with a glass screen, a bed, books even supposed modes of transportation that allow quick land travel. Then came the weapons: tanks, cannons, and guns, once the princesses knew what they were all of them were either confiscated or destroyed on the spot. And yet the highest concentration of occurrences were at none other than a rebuilding Ponyville, still recovering from the destruction of Tirek but also the site of Princess Twilight's new castle.
"Just where in Equestria is all this stuff coming from!?" Twilight said to herself as she paced around her new bedroom. The newly crowned Princess of Friendship was beside herself trying to figure out what was going on. What she does know that every time something new came there was a high concentration of celestial magic...a kind of magic that's older than the two sisters and the concentration was getting larger and larger as if preparing for something. But then again it was her imagination, she was still prone to overreact when situations become tense.
"Twilight!! Is that you!?" yelled a young drake..
"Spike!? Where are you!?" Twilight descended out of her room and down the winding stairs.
"The 2nd guest bedroom....I think!" Spike was still getting used to the massive new crystal palace that belonged to Twilight. But to them, it just wasn't home yet. They miss their old treehouse, that old wooden finish, the basket that Spike used to sleep in. It was their beloved home for many years before Tirek destroyed it in one supercharged blast. So as she winded down the halls, she can't help but mutter 'it's just not the same'. Sometimes, the castle feels way to empty and cold..and alone. But that was another bridge to be crossed at another time..now it's time to find Spike. Who's gotten himself lost...again.
"Try moving towards my voice" she called out, that usually works whenever either of them get lost in the palace. Before either of them knew it, they meet up in the center of the castle where the Rainbow Power resides, ready to be summoned by her friends should the need arise. "Oh there you are Spike"
"Yeah, this place is practically a maze!! It just feels off......I miss our old home Twilight." Spike merely looked up to his sister with sad eyes, no doubt he was still reeling from losing their treehouse home. All Twilight could was embrace Spike in a loving hug contemplating the situation. But suddenly..
"Twilight! Something's up with the center of the room!!" as Spike pointed towards the center of the 6 thrones as they all glowed intensely of their respective colors before a large blinding light erupted from the castles peak shooting up into the air.
Back in Canterlot however...
"Sister...did you feel that!?" Luna came running towards her sister Princess Celestia bearing the same worried look on her face.
"I have, something's coming.... I shall check on the situation myself" and just like that Celestia spread out her wings and took off out of the throne room and towards where the magic was at its highest concentration yet...Ponyville.
Back at Ponyville, the blinding light finally subsided before diminishing "That was weird...why'd the room glow like that? The last time it did that was when the castle first came out of the ground after you beat Tirek!" Spike cautiously approached the thrones making sure there was no special surprises.
"I honestly don't know Spike..I don't know what could've caused --"
SCRRRREEEECHHHHH!!!! CRASH!!
The sounded that had erupted outside had both alicorn and drake cover their ears in pain from the screeching noise of twisting metal.
"What in Celestia!?" She immediately flew out of her castle to see what was the wretched sound and come across a horrid sight.... a black 'automobile' crashing head onto the castle with a group of ponies curiously surrounding the object. Pieces of glass and twisted meal were everywhere, and as she got closer, she saw blood...lots of it. But what she saw next took her completely agasp.
"Somepony get the hospital!! There's something alive in there!!!" yelled Twilight ordering some of the town ponies to get the hospital to treat the strange creature with strange elongated appendages, clothing all around its body, and many gashes cutting through supposedly its skin while its head is covered by a white balloon thing coming out of the compartment.
"Twilight!!" Twilight along with the rest of the ponies look up and are shocked to see Princess Celestia arriving as she landed beside the Twilight.
"Celestia! What are you doing here!?"
"I'm here because my sister and I sensed a great magical disturbance coming from Ponyville so I came here to investigate..." she glances at the wreckage to the unconscious being that was being carried on the gurney to the Ponyville Hospital ."So.....they still exist.....I should have known"
It don't know what just happened in the last few minutes. I driving my way to Yellowstone, there have been increased seismic and volcanic activity in the area and the USGS wanted all hands on deck for this job. I was supposed to help monitor the volcanic hotspot for a full 6 months to make sure the nation was alerted of the danger of a possible volcanic eruption. Only recently graduated grad school and working in an internship at the USGS, things were going my way....even though I couldn't get a girlfriend yet. Don't get me wrong I'm very social, but the internship I received took up a multitude of my time and I couldn't let this opportunity go to waste.
But back to the point, I was driving on a back road in Wyoming in the pitch black night. As I drove I eventually lost cellular and radio signal. It didn't matter though, the stars were beautiful and with so much time taken I don't even remember the last time I've really been on the internet. But as time when on, the road was barren and there was no one on the road but me and yet suddenly there these lights directly in front of me. My immediate thought that there was someone on the wrong side of the rode...probably a drunk driver. I honked the horn a few times to let them know. But it didn't budge...heck it even went brighter! I honked again, same reaction...I decided to slow down to about 30mph to prevent a crash. But just like that, the lights exploded covering my entire car and blinding me for a short bit......I then lost control..pressed my foot on the gas petal rather than the brake...a flash of colors went through my eyes... pain, then darkness.....
I'm in pain.... a lot in pain, so much pain that my fight with my brother when he stomped on my nethers pales in comparison of the pain of feel right now. I moan trying to alert anyone of my presence and I hear muffled voices... who the heck is that? _________________________________________________________________
"A WHAT!?" The Mane 6 and Spike gasped in the medical room as they were briefed by Princess Celestia.
"He's a human....a species I had long thought to be extinct. They were once a grand civilization, but their greed got the best of them and nearly destroyed and depleted their planet for its resources. How he came here I wish I knew but the amount of celestial magic it took to bring him was massive. It's highly unlikely that he'll be returning to his home again..." But then all heads turned to hear the human being moan.
"Look look look!! I think he's waking up!" as Pinkie Pie immediately went to the side of the bed with numerous party decorations ready.
"Down Pinkie, we don't want to overwhelm him!" as Applejack threw a rope around Pinkie and pulled her back preventing any sort of party from happening. __________________________________________________________________
More voices...women maybe? I could've sworn I heard a country accent there....well I am in Colorado, there was probably ranchers. I slowly open my eyes...everything's really blurry but I see a multitude of colors causing a headache...oh shit....these ranchers are probably pot-heads and are making me high right now.
"Sir? Sir? Are you all right?" .... that voice, so gentle, motherly even...it makes me feel safe. As focus slightly returns, I see the basic shapes of wings...really large wings......crap.....I'm dead.
"Are you an angel?" I stupidly ask.. _________________________________________________________________
The ponies gasp as their gracious Princess Celestia suddenly become flustered at the question asked from the human being. After quickly regaining her composure, she replies with calmness.
"Well, kind of......may I ask what your name is human?" asked she stared at the being who's slowly opening his eyes. _________________________________________________________________ Wait what? Human? what kind of question is that by ending in human?......oh don't tell me all those Ancient Aliens crap was actually true and I was somehow abducted by aliens. But nevertheless, I had to answer the question since it's basic manners.
"My name is Edwin ma'am...Edwin Flores." Things are getting in focus, colors are no longer blending too much, now 7 colors were standing out: White, Pink, Yellow, Light Blue, Purple, Green, and Orange. I constantly rub my eyes to try and make them go back to focus a little faster...
"Sorry, my sight is a little messed up.....to be honest I can't really see what you look like." I narrow my eyes a little to try and focus again and I could have sworn I saw the shape of a horse.
"Oh worry not Darling, we'll be patient"
Whoa whoa whoa....back up.... 'Darling!?' Who says that anymore? But it wasn't just that, it's how she said it that my brain is practically screaming that she's familiar. Where have I heard that voice before? ugh....this is going to be the end of me. But in any case my vision started to finally correct before closing my eyes one final time and opening them again for what seemed like forever...I finally get a clear view of what's around me.....that's when I jumped in fear and scooted back to the wall...
"Mr. Flores....is something the matter?" said the alicorn as she looks at me with worry. No...nonononononono this is impossible...this is just a show!! This can't be real!!!
"You....you can't be real.....yo-you're just a show!!" as a point to all of them shaking with absolute fear.
All of them looked at each other with a mixture of confusion and worry.
"Mr. Flores.....Mr. Flores......Edwin!!" I stopped fit of absolute panic and fear and look up to see Celestia's peaceful magenta eyes. Without words, she's telling me to calm down, that I was safe and secure, and no harm will come to me. She places her hoof on my shoulder....I feel it, the fur, the hoof itself, the warmth of her powerful magic. It was real....all of it was. Holy shit.....I'm in Equestria.
Okay....let's recap, one minute I'm driving through an empty road the next I'm in a world full of pastel colored talking ponies. At first it was all a sick joke, a lucid dream or something but low and behold, a single touch of Princess Celestia's hoof wiped all of those kinds of thoughts.
"So...how long was I out?" I asked now sitting up in the hospital bed.
"Around 6 hours, enough that the press got good shots of you as you were transported to the hospital from your transporter" said the regal alicorn.
All I could do was sigh and laid back on my bed "So the whole world knows I'm here...great....." I couldn't help but chuckle.
"And what is so funny?" asked the lavender alicorn.
"I'm just wondering how Lyra Heartstrings must be feeling right now, knowing that us humans exists after all." Like clockwork, the mane 6 faces swapped from curiosity to slight fear since I just blabbed one their Ponyville friends full name.
"H-how'd you know Lyra? You never met her, you've only just met us!!" the cyan pegasus exclaimed.
"Actually, I know all of you: Princess Celestia, Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Spike, Fluttershy *eep! goes the flutters*, Applejack and Pinkamena Diane Pie" all of them flinched as I mentioned their names perfectly as if I had just met them years ago. All of their faces are full of fear, curiosity, and are itching for a fight. Okay...explanation time.
"Okay....say you have a window to other dimensions. You can't interact with the dimension directly but all you can do is watch. You guys getting me so far?" most of them nodded in some understanding while Celestia merely pays attention. "Now, from my world we have all kinds of shows and movies on the television and one of the shows was called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. From there my kind saw most of your events of your lives from you first gained your cutie marks, the Canterlot Wedding, the banishment and the redemption of Nightmare Moon, the chaos from Discord, Tirek and Chrysalis and your.... unhinged...moments" From there their faces turned to shock and embarrassment to know that people from a whole other world actually saw something that were very private in their lives, even Celestia was a tad shocked to say the least to know of some of Celestia's past mistakes.
"And how do we know you're not lying!?" Applejack said as she trotted up right to my face.
"Ok...don't say I didn't warn you" I closed my eyes and gathered my thoughts to some of the most personal secrets anyone in this world would have.
"*ahem* Big Macintosh still has Smarty Pants under his bed" Applejack flinched.
"The Want it Need It incident was caused by Twilight over reacting from missing a letter for Princess Celestia thus nearly losing her sanity" Twilight went agape.
"Rainbow Dash switched the number order during the Best Young Flyers Competition to avoid going out into the crowd" Rainbow Dash nearly froze midflight.
"Rarity...............Tom the 'diamond'" a hair moves out of place in Rarity's mane.
"Celestia sometimes binges on cake" Celestia face goes pink.
"Pinkie Pie thought her friends abandoned her and went into a depressed state talking to inanimate objects whilst everyone else was actually planning a surprise birthday party for her." Pinkie merely giggled.
"and Spike still has --" my mouth was then blocked by a claw that belonged a very red cheeked and angry dragon. "OKAY OKAY!! I think we heard enough!!" Spike said as he looked around to everypony being extremely embarrassed, with some using their wings to cover their embarrassment while others are using their manes or hats. Heck, even Celestia was blushing red and that looked absolutely adorable! And all I can do was chuckle and smirk.
"So....still think I'm a liar?" I rebutted/
"N-no....you've said enough!" Said the cowpony covering her face with her prized stetson hat.
"Now to business, can you send me back home? My family's probably worried sick about me!"
And just like that the atmosphere switched from embarrassment to somber as Celestia walked up to me with a stoic face. "Edwin.....I'm sorry, but the amount of celestial magic that had brought you here was massive, something like that will never happen again even if all 4 alicorns tried. I'm sorry Edwin...you're here for good."
Seconds felt like minutes which felt like hours and so on... it took a while for that statement to sink in. I didn't know what to say...... I can never see my friends or family ever again. I can't dance at my little sister's wedding once she grows up or visit my abuelos graves in El Salvador or truly see the world for my own eyes.
"Celestia.....can you please come closer?" I asked the alicorn to be by my side for what I'm about to do....once she was there..I lept and grabbed a hold of her and squeezed real tight!
"*gasp* Celestia!! Let go of her you---" just as when Rainbow Dash was about to strike, she saw a good look on my face....waterfalls of tears streaming down.
"umm girls.....I think he needs us..." Fluttershy silently said. Like clockwork, all of them joined in the hug. I'm here, I'm stuck in Equestria...but the one who truly hugged the most was Celestia herself.
"I'm sorry..." she whispered in my ear.
I never cried so much in my entire life...well the first time I saw Titanic is a close second...but the tears were coming out from my eyes for a good 5 minutes. and add another 10 minutes of sniffling and burning eyes from the tears and a good hour of accepting that I'm here till I die.
"All right...*sniffs*..since I'm going to live here I assume that I have to bunk with one of you till I get a house built." Twilight immediately steps up.
"I have over 5 bedrooms in my palace, you're welcome to use any of them. Just...don't try to get lost." Twilight said with some ease.
"Thank you, secondly..there the matter of food. Now I can eat what most of you ponies eat beans, corn, apples, sweets and whatnot. But there's the matter of protein." I open my mouth wide so that they see my teeth, pointing out the 4 canines. "See these, they're for chewing meat." Fluttershy immediately started to tremble in fear for herself and of her animals. "Don't worry Fluttershy I'm an omnivore...you know like a bear I eat both plants and meat, but I know that most species of what humans consume are intelligent and don't want to be eaten. But from what I understand is sea food is okay? Like fish, crab, lobster and shrimp" Fluttershy slightly and nervously nodded in approval. "ok now that's out of the way...now for a job. You see I am a geologist, I study the earth and how it works."
"ooh ooh! My sister Maud studies rocks!! She really likes rocks!!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed while hopping around the hospital room.
I couldn't help but chuckle, she is indeed the Element of Laughter after all. "That she does, but more to the point, I need to earn a living now so that I may pay for my own things like new clothes and food." Applejack was the next to step up.
"We all ways need help workin on the farm, so we could use an extra pair of hoo-er I mean..."
"hands."
"Er right! Hands on the farm. Wages are at 10 bits per hour." Applejack recovered herself now that she realized that I had no hooves.
"I'll start once I'm fully settled in." I smiled at the orange pony as she nodded in response.
"Oh! We need to alert the town of this situation...all of my little ponies will need to know of this." She turns towards the Royal Guard that she had summoned. "Call the town together for a meeting of the up-most importance"
"Yes your highness" he bowed an immediately dashed off to alert the Mayor.
"What are you going to do princess?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"I shall stay for a month to monitor Edwin on his recovery and integration into our society.....besides.." she leans close to Twilight well beyond my hearing range "He needs our support more than ever now that he has lost his family. Hopefully he'll be part of us easily....."
"I hope you're right Celestia, I hope you're right..."
A rather large crowd has gathered in front of the hospital, just yesterday a mysterious being has arrived at their land. And in that crowd and certain unicorn is spouting absolute nonsense to the crowd.
"You guys listen to me, that was a human!!! A human! They exist I keep telling you!!" Lyra yelled, but only receive looks at annoyance from the other ponies much to the embarrassment of her best friend Bon Bon as her cheeks blush red and her face covered by her hoof.
"Lyra, can you please calm down? Humans are myth, nothing more nothing less. Now please stop yelling, the princesses have called the entire town" as Octavia said.
"Not everything is a myth Tavi! Remember Nightmare Moon?" argued Vinyl Scratch.
"Well she was Princess Luna... but still."
"and what about Discord?"
"Don't remind me...it's bad enough that he now lives here!"
"and don't forget about Tirek!!" Bon Bon actually intervened and just like that the 4 ponies shuddered in fear, they did not want to relive that experience again of losing their magic and cutie marks again. But it did teach them to never take their abilities for granted ever again. Meanwhile in another part of the crowd a certain grey pegasus and an earth pony are dicussing something serious..
"This doesn't make sense..these holes just open and shut like nothing happened!"
"Doctor...is that what happened to the cybermen? That they kept opening holes between universes?"
"Yes but they left them open nearly destroying reality, but in this case reality seems to be holding up strong and these holes closes so fast the TARDIS can barely detect them, and now a human has arrived. Curious isn't it Derpy"
Derpy couldn't help but nod and blush... ________________________
Inside the hospital...
"Edwin..the ponies are waiting for you. Is he ready to walk doctor?" asked Twilight.
"The damage he has sustained was quite minimal, all the stitches were done and the bones mended. His body should be ready to stand by now."
"Thanks doc" for once thank God for United States engineering...now to brace for the crowd. I turn to the Mane 6 and the regal alicorn by my sides...to be honest, I'm a little nervous. "You guys got my back right? I'm kinda afraid...."
"Afraid of what?" asked Fluttershy.
"Afraid of being branded as a monster...."
"What? You're not a monster!! The ponies here are really nice and welcoming!" said Pinkie Pie.
"How can you be sure? I'm a creature that haven't existed for probably millions of years or something and I just pop up out of the blue!"
"Actually humans has been extinct for 110 million years give or take, I don't know the exact details I wasn't born yet." Celestia explained. She caught a few glances, all of them summing up as saying 'did you really just said that?'.
"um...sorry?" Celestia said.
"Well....here goes nothing..." I finally get out of my bed, being 5 foot 9, I'm not exactly tall, but to the ponies around me I was practically size of Princess Celestia herself. I guess that makes sense, Celestia herself is supposed to be the size of a full grown horse. I was at basic eye level with her as she nods to me in confidence knowing that I would be safe.
As we walked down the hall, I noted all the ponies along the hallway where all staring at me, not just from my being, but also the height of towering the average pony. "it's all right....I won't hurt you" that little statement was enough at least calm the nerves of some of the patients who were in the waiting room. Eventually we reached the main entrance of the hospital where we see a huge crowd of ponies waiting...we soon stepped outside. and just like that, what was once a calm crowd became a huge hoopla of questions, threats, and just plain fear of this new being that have arrived at their land.
"Calm down my little ponies. My I please have your attention please!?" Celestia announced as the crowd was immediately silenced at the sound of her calm yet commanding voice. "This is Edwin Flores....he is a human." that statement caused a huge collective gasp with many eyes turning to Lyra.
"I KNEW IT! I FRICKIN KNEW IT!! I TOLD YOU I TOLD EVERYPONY BUT NOOOOO~, NOPONY EVER LISTENS TO LYRA ABOUT THESE THINGS!!" as the unicorn shouts at the top of her lungs amongst her friends who simply slackjawed knowing that Lyra was actually right after all these years.
"Ahem!! *Lyra calms down* anyway, yes he's a human, he'll be living with all of you from now on. You are to treat him with respect, you will show him kindness and acceptance, if he asks for food you will give him food. If he asks for some help, you will lend a helping hoof. and one last thing....He is not a monster. He is a being who's as intelligent as you all and has equal amount of morals. Is that understood?" Celestia said as the crowd then bows to her displaying their agreement. "Good, now my friend will say a few words regarding his stay in Ponyville"
I step up, to see hundreds of eyes staring at me....yikes, so this is what Fluttershy's really afraid of. Usually I'm calm because I'm either doing a concert or doing a presentation for a teacher but those are for small crowds. But this is an entire town that's staring at me..."Hi...I'm Edwin..." I bow to them to see if I get a reaction "I thank you for letting me into your home. I am a human, that's true but I don't know absolutely everything about humanity. Heck I don't even know if my family knows that I'm here or not. But I'll share as much as I can and hopefully you'll treat me as your equal." Before I even knew it though, the whole crowd of ponies swarmed around me with smiles and some hugs, welcoming me to their town and already throwing me a butt-load of questions about the human race.
"So you really exist!?"
"What do you know about the universe!?"
"Are you dangerous!?"
"Are you responsible for all these weird things coming here!?"
"Do you actually eat meat!?"
"Everpony calm down!" Twilight silenced the crowd in a booming voice. "all questions will be answered in due time. But please Edwin needs his rest after arriving here and needs to heal up his wounds from yesterday."
"and on that note, I shall reside in the palace for a month to monitor his behavior as well as the rest of you, to make sure he's given equal rights as any pony would." Celestia then trotted up to the crowd. "as of this moment, Edwin is a citizen of Equestria!" The crowd then bows once more at her orders and parted to make way for us. But Pinkie suddenly gasps as something extremely important has come up that she completely forgot to do!
"Oh my gosh! You're Welcome-to-Ponyville Party needs to planned RIGHT NOW!!!! Be right back!" and just like that Pinkie Pie sped off to plan such party. So it's true...so does have super speed.
After finally leaving the hospital, we take a small tour of Ponyville. Passing by the schoolhouse, the town hall, Sugar Cube Corner, the market place, small parks and the true center of town. Which unfortunately only has scorch marks and a large chard stump of where the library was, but next to it is a growing memorial to the once proud oak tree that stood here.
"You probably know what happened in recent times...." Twilight lowered her head in sorrow with some tears forming in her eyes.
"Yeah....Tirek. Don't feel too bad Twilight, bad stuff happens all the time it's a part of life we just have to learn to live with it and carry on. But it usually precedes the good too, I mean you got a new castle and you still have your friends, never forget that Twilight"
Twilight lifts her head up and wipes away some tears. "Yeah, you're right! Thanks..." Celestia couldn't help but smile warmly, even though she completed her studies under Celestia, she still has a lot to learn. Eventually we finally reach Twilight's palace.
"Whoa.....it's big!" I looked up at the massive palace tree that's pretty much Ponyville's first skyscraper. The shear enormity of it all just shows how real life differs from fantasy. But then again, I am in a world full of pastel colored talking ponies.
"Don't remind me...I've already have gotten lost 5 times already!" Spike merely crosses his arms. He then changes his face from scowling to slight sadness. "It's just doesn't feel like home."
"Well.....I've moved many times when I was younger. We had to constantly change from apartment to apartment in order to have a better live and opportunities. Especially in education, either way, I know how you feel Twilight. Just give it some time...eventually, it will be home."
We enter the massive doors and walk through the halls..
"Soooo.....are there bathrooms in here?" stupid, stupid, stupid....what a way to start a conversation. Asking where the lavatories are in a massive palace like this....but then again since I'm going to be staying here for a while that is kind of a useful question. Twilight merely giggled.
"Oh don't worry, every room has their own bathroom..." Twilight replied. Oh Thank God for plumbing! Eventually we reached the main center of the palace, we 6 thrones are present...The council of Friendship. "Your room is on the second floor, that's where the guest rooms are....but you're kinda gonna get lost in this place a few times."
"Oh no worries Twilight, I have good memory." As we roamed the massive halls and reached the guest room floor, and at last the door to my room for the time being.
"I'll be next door for my stay, hopefully by months end your new house will be completed" said Celestia.
"Thank you....to be honest, I don't want to be to much of a burden." with that with some somber emotion, I am suddenly wrapped in beautiful white wings, by none other than the regal alicorn.
"I know Edwin...but you are never alone. I'm truely sorry that you lost your family and that's we'll never replace them. But if you give this land a chance, I know things will get better...I promise." Celestia continued to hug...
"Pinkie Pie Promise?" I ask.
"Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye" Celestia even made the hoof motions. Although Applejack made a weary face remembering the last time she broke a pinkie pie promise. "And nopony ever breaks her promise!" the cowpony added. I couldn't help but crack a smile...I'm here in Equestria, every brony's dream. But at the cost of losing my family and completely starting over of my life. But when I open the door, all the lights were strangely dark...
"Hello?..." and just like that I was blinded a large flash of light and all I can hear at the moment was..
"SURPRISE!! Welcome to your Welcome-to-Ponyville-and-Equestria/ourworld Party!!!" Pinkie Pie yelled as I was greeted by a grand welcome banner many punch bowls confetti and of course the ponies who live in Ponyville. They were all there, not just the Mane 6, but also the Cutie Mark Crusaders, the Apple Family, heck even Princess Luna! And soon enough, Princess Celestia, Luna and Twilight stepped up and with their wings spread they said to me with a smile..
"On behalf on all us ponies, we welcome you to Ponyville and Equestria!"
"So this is the human I've heard so much about, pleasure to meet you Edwin." She extends her hood for a hoofshake.
"The pleasure's all mine Luna..so it's true what they say about you." I bow to her and give her hoofshake.
"Oh? and what do the humans say about me?" Luna's curiosity appeared.
"That you are the true beauty of the night." Luna suddenly found herself flustered at the comment with lightly rosy cheeks. However Rarity noticed Celestia also lightly blushing but puffing up her cheeks as if she was.....nah that couldn't happen in a thousand lifetimes Rarity told herself sipping on some strawberry punch.
"I know we'll have the best of time Edwin! We'll race, have fun, visit the cities and sights it'll be awesome!" yelled Rainbow Dash.
"YYYYYYYYEEEEAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!" said a certain ultra buff pegasus pony outside the window.
"Now slow down Rainbow, he still needs to heal up from that accident of his. Plus he's goin' to be workin' at the farm to earn a living here!" Applejack added.
"You mean he's goin be workin with us?" Applebloom asked. I squat down with a smirk to meet her.
"That's right, nice to meet you Applebloom. Any cutie mark crusading done today?" I ask.
"Well we were going to try scuba diving but then you came out of nowhere and we wanted to see for ourselves!" Scootaloo exclaimed.
"We're going to have the best time ever!" Sweetie Belle squeaked.
Slowly but surely, I've made sure to meet everyone at the party, told me where the best parts of Ponyville are, more info about the locals as I told them some bits about humanity. But alas, it was getting late and it was time for bed.
"It was nice meeting you all, but *yawn* I think it's time for me to head to bed."
"yeah...*yawns loudly* time for me to hit the hay...laters!" and just like that Rainbow Dash zoomed out of the window into the into night so that she can get some shut eye as does the rest of the party goers.
"see you guys tomorrow then..." most of the party-goers leave, leaving just me Celestia, Luna and Twilight. "I can't thank you enough for this. I hope I'll be able to fit in since I'm stuck here."
"Don't worry Edwin, give them some time and they'll except you. No if you'll excuse me, I have some dreams to protect to tonight. Fare thee well" she gives me a confident wink and the Princess of the Night flies off. Leaving us in my room, "I'll be right next door if you need me Edwin, and my sister's right give my little ponies some time and they'll accept you. Good night Edwin" she gives me a loving hug and departs towards her room just as Twilight at the same time. Leaving me all alone.....it's time to something I haven't done in the longest time.....I knelt beside my bed, clasped my hand together .... and I prayed....
"Um hey God.....it's been a long time.....I know I haven't really prayed, or go to church in a while...but that''s only because I didn't need to! But now." I let out a deep sorrowful sigh "..I need you more then ever, I'm not sure if you were the cause of getting me here but please..let my family know that I'm okay! Take care of them, make sure that they know I'm alive and safe! Just....let them know....please.....I sure hope you know what you're doing. I'm still afraid, *chuckles* even though I'm living every brony's dream...but more to the point...I'll be sure to check in everyone in a while." I make the hand gesture that was pretty much imprinted in my brain from sunday school and went to bed. Little did I know, that Celestia was listening on the other side of the door, with slight tears in her eyes.
"I'm so sorry Edwin.....but I promise you that things will get better, and I'll find some way to let your family know that you're alive and well. Good night my dear...."
I was running, don't know why but I was running in complete blackness at my full speed chasing something. I see a light...it becomes brighter and there I see...
"Kev, Kiki!! Mama and Papi!! I'm coming!! Please wait!!!" I try to get closer but to no avail, if anything I'm getting farther away from my family as I run. Eventually, a darkness starts consuming the light like tentacles. "NO PLEASE, I'M ALIVE LET THEM BE!!!" I scream on the top of my lungs trying to prevent them from being taken away from me. "NO PLEASE!!!" I was too late as the darkness consumes the light....too late.....I'm too late "no....no please.....no" I crouch down weeping, sobbing, all alone....before I knew it the darkness was starting to creep up to me ready to strike. I was willing to accept the darkness to consume me too if it would mean to be back with my family. But however...
"CEASE THIS DARKNESS!!" as the booming voice releases a bright light blue light extinguishing all of my surroundings...including the darkness that had supposedly consumed my family. I squint my eyes to see who had said that as the darkness retreated. Once the light dimmed down I finally see who it was. "Princess Luna? what are you.......wait I'm dreaming aren't I?"
She nods "I didn't expect you to have such nightmares so soon Edwin. But it's understandable for your loss....loosing one's entire family is a heavy burden for you to carry"
"I miss them Princess....I miss them so much, I won't be able to see many of their biggest choices in life! I won't become an uncle...or an in-law....a father or grandfather..or a mourning son." Tears start to form in my eyes once again....but then my head is lifted up by her blue hoof.
"I understand, due to our life-span, Celestia and I had to see many past friends pass away before I turned in Nightmare Moon. It's going to take time for you to move on...but whenever you need this kind of help. Remember Celestia and I are for support." Just as she was about to fly away, she suddenly in a deep and loving hug from me with tears once more in my eyes.
"Thank you Luna...."
She returns the hug with equal amount of love, "it's my duty to all my subjects to assist them in their dreams...But I know we'll meet again. Time for you to wake up..." and like clock work, I woke up in bed as the sun rises upon the valley.
"So....let's see what today will bring..."
Looking down upon the small town, already see the site for my eventually new house though all there was a ditch and ropes surrounding the site. Upon looking around, there was my clothes I arrived in Equestria in freshly cleaned for the day. But first a shower, and lo and behold in the bathroom not just the shower ... and thank God...a toilet.
"oh...thank God" I said to myself, and after a hot shower, I get my new clothing..oh my gosh it feels so soft! It feels like thousands on puff balls hugging my body! Next to the nightstand there was a tray of all the stuff that was in my pockets when I was driving my car: my phone, wallet, geologist licence, and thankfully my ipod...gotta have my music after all~! Now fully clothed I step out of the room and into the crystal hallways that composed of Twilight's palace...did they really have to make the halls so high up?
"Now which way is....." I look around for the dining hall for breakfast.
"1 floor down and 4 doors to your left..." I turn around to see Celestia, once more bearing her warm motherly smile.
"Thank you Princess, I'm gonna have to memorize this place since I'll be living here for a while." as I once more gaze at the wide and tall halls.
"You get used to it, I remember when Luna and I were just fillies we would get lost a lot in our old castle~." she couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle. "Our mother would worry so much for days on end until we finally found our way around the place."
I chuckle in response "That's mothers for yah Princess."
"So tell me Edwin...how much of us does your kind know?" she asked.
"Not really sure....but from what I can gather around here is that Tirek has just been defeated and this new castle has appeared with Twilight and her friends obtaining the 'rainbow power'". I stated using quotes over the rainbow power part while Celestia nods in understanding.
"and what do you mean as you know of my mistakes?" Celestia asked.
I took a big sigh and looked at her "What's there to tell? Luna's transformation into Nightmare Moon, Discord's and Tirek's escape from prison...to be honest Princess there are times where you act like an idiot. I mean sending 6 ponies to face a dragon!? Seriously they could've easily died!" Celestia winced "and another thing... you could've encouraged your nobles and super-rich to actually HELP the poor instead of letting them throw these extravagant parties...and lastly your biggest mistake...not believing Twilight during the Canterlot Wedding rehersal." Celestia then hung her head and winces more "of all the lessons of friendship she had learned..you essentially threw it all away for a silly wedding when you KNEW Canterlot was in danger. After seeing Twilight's pained and crying face...I and many other fans were very disappointed in you." Finishing my rant, I looked to Celestia only shocked to see her actually crying... "um...hey.....I didn't mean to-"
"No!....no.....you're right....I had made a lot of mistakes in my past. It was ridiculous of me to not believe my student resulting in the near changeling takeover of Canterlot...it was idiotic of me to send her and her friends to face against Discord knowing they'll be picked apart one by one by his disharmony...and it was completely stupid of me....to see my sister's depression and want of attention that had lead to her transformation into Nightmare Moon." she wipes away her tears and makes a face of determination "I want to atone for those mistakes and protect my subjects...." She turns to me and gives me that cute motherly smile "Thank you Edwin...I kinda needed that"
I smile "No problem Princess"
"Oh please, just call me Celestia~" she said with a hint of a blush.
Finally we reached the dining hall and.... holy moly! Is that fresh pancakes and coffee I smell~!? I take I good whiff..It is~!!!!! "Smells good~"
Celestia smiles in response to the remark "Must be Spike's cooking."
"Bingo Princess~!" Spike cheerily said while in a chef's hat standing on a stool watching over the stove. "Spike's Special Pancake Breakfast~!!"
"Smells delicious Spike!" I said. "How much longer till they're ready?" I asked.
"Around 5 more minutes you 2!" he announced.
"Mind if I listen to some music Celestia?" I asked.
"Well sure but it's going to take a while to get a stereo speaker in here...." Celestia asked.
"Not a problem," I pull out my earbuds and Ipod. "I got it covered"
'Please work' I thought to myself...and after putting on the earbuds, I pressed play waiting for the music to play and sure enough one of my favorite songs started to play.
"AW YEAH~!!! IT STILL WORKS~!!" I yelled excitedly causing both Celestia and Spike to jump a bit. "oops, sorry...this is one of my favorite songs back from my world.
"That tiny thing is a music player?" Spike asked.
"Yep and it contains over 1000 songs!" It was true, over the coarse of my live I've might as well bought all the songs and albums of my favorite artists from AC/DC to Pink Floyd to Santana to The Beatles to Led Zeppelin to even Johnny Cash. "Don't you guys have portable music players?"
"Well kinda....ponies here only have either a record player or some new invention called the....IHoof I think." Spike explained.
I internally cringed and facepalmed so hard it might as well made a permanent hand print on my head...I Hoof...REALLY!?
"Interesting...how many songs can it play?"
"around 20-30" Spike explained, and internally chuckled this time...they're just entering the information and technology age here.
"Well we have made significant technological advancements from the new technology arriving" Celestia said. This peaked my interest.
"really? How so?" I asked.
"Well a lot of weird stuff has been happening ever since Twilight got her tree palace. A stuff and things started appearing everywhere in Equestria like lightbulbs, some glowy flat box, music players even stuff like your automobile!! Even a huge massive vehicle for air travel!!" Spike exclaimed.
"Wait....you mean there are more cars!?" I asked.
"So that's what your automobiles are called." Celestia said inquisitively. "So it's safe to assume then all those items that have appearing in our nation are from your world. Our scientists have so far successfully reverse-engineering these items for the past month!"
I am merely shocked....stuff from my world has somehow been leaking into Equestria. So if that's been happening, I guess that's how cars and and a Boeing 747 mysteriously disappeared in thin air.
"So.....are the pancakes ready?"
"Yep~!" He serves Celestia and I the food and coffee.
"Thanks man." I lift the mug in thanks and take a sip letting the aroma of the coffee wake me up a little more. As I eat the fluffy warm goodness in my mouth I notice Celestia also eating but very formally with fork, knife and only taking tiny sips of coffee. I know that she's a princess and all but the way she is eating her breakfast is like she's in a formal dinner or a political meeting. "You know Celestia, you don't always have to eat so up-tightly, this isn't a meeting or anything." I take another bite of the pancake.
"It's important to show manners as formally and cleanly as possible" she takes another sip.
"Oh you and I both know that's not true, especially since I know of your cake binge"
She freezes up mid-bite...
"'Celestia Just Like Us?' featured in the Foal Free Press in the Gabby Gums Column ring a bell~?"
She gently sets her for down and wraps her napkin around her neck.
"so what are you waiting for Celestia~? Dig in!" I chuckled lightly...what happened next possibly shook poor Spike to his core as Celestia literally face-planted herself onto the pancakes and feasted on the stack tearing up the pancakes almost like a dog. And after around 10 minutes or so, all that was left was a messy plate, food crumbs everywhere and her once elegant face equally covered with food crumbs and a hint of maple syrup. After pausing for a few minutes, possibly thinking what she had just done....she bursts out laughing.
"Oh Edwin!! You have no idea how good that felt~!!" Celestia exclaimed wiping off all the crumbs off her face with her napkin. Gotta admit though...she does look kinda cute.
