Equestria was located between the USSR and the US in the Pacific. Equestria was transported through the great gates of time and space where it appeared here on earth and the true cause of this rift was unknown. The princess wanted to get her people back to the world they came from, it was mainly because the unrest levels of the indigenous population were off the charts. Celestia eventually decided to reach out to the most advanced countries and gained the help of America and the USSR, however she discovered the USSR wasn’t very willing to give freedom to their people and she chose to side with the democratic republic of the United States.

Celestia and Eisenhower made an agreement that if Equestria was to gain support of the United States she must sign a contract that allowed them to force her into war and establish trading routes with her continent so that their trading routes with Japan and other Asian allies weren’t so restricted with the new. After a few months of studying with the combined scientific minds of the United States and Equestria they discovered that both worlds were on parallel. This meant that Equestria and Earth were so similar that they might actually be parallels of each other. They also discovered that because of that very reason the unicorns and pegasi are still able to use magic and fly. But then after progress their work was halted by the Geneva Accords…France came to an agreement with Vietnam and this made the American president Eisenhower angry. He feared communism was getting it easy…so he made it hard…very hard…and Equestria would be caught right up in this struggle for peace.

We were on a mission, above the forests of Khe Sanh, flying above in the standard American versatile Bell UH-1 Iroquois or otherwise known as the "Huey." Me, Lyra, Caramel and Applejack were in one of the choppers, and the other four were in the Huey next to us. After we found the position where we were going to settle the chopper the pilot dropped a red smoke, and then friendly US jets fired a hasty Daisy Cutter, one of the most useful bombs in our time of the Vietnam War, to clear the AO of trees and other tall greenery. Then we started to land, big mistake.

Something moved in the bushes, then out of nowhere, a NLF Heavy machine lit up on the other Huey, and the pony on the M60 had its head turned into a watermelon. The Huey took a direct hit by an RPG and it was blown from the air. I was shaking in my boots for this was my first experience in Nam, but didn't care about the other chopper, I barely knew anyone in it. Our commander acted fast as he knew we would end up dead like the other half if we just stood there in shock.

"AJ, Mak on those guns, pilot, the hell outta here!" Caramel ordered in broken English, and with that, I then took control of the mounted M60, and blazed it on everywhere I saw a flash of an AK-74 barrel.

“Yeah!" Applejack screamed, getting excited while blasting away at the M-60. "Go back to the hole you crawled out of fuckers!"

The pilot nodded and turned the Huey around. I heard wave after wave of aluminium bullets whizzing past me and clipping all sorts of parts of the Huey. Then the Bell started making pretty scary clanking noises and it looked like it won't stay in the air for another five minutes.

The NLF decided to fall back into the dense vegetation of the Khe Sanh forest since we were pinning them with are M-60's. With so much sound the guns were making, we stopped, but the Huey took much more damage than we thought, and it was running out of fuel rapidly. The closest base was fifty Clicks away, so we decide to land in the area the jets had cleared for us.

"God dammit, looks like we're going to have to land, men gear up!" Caramel said. I dismounted the M60, checked my ammo and cocked my M16.

"Are we still continuing the mission Mel?" Applejack questioned. “Ah mean, it's not like we've got any air support, and if I die er, I don't want my body paraded bah some Asian's in Chinatown?!" I laughed at Applejack’s racist remark. In Vietnam, humour was the only thing that helped me from losing my sanity.

Just as we got out of the Swiss-cheeses-looking-Huey, the pilot stepped out of the cockpit, where his head was then turned into a squashed tomato, and out of the forest came a Charlie. Lyra quickly gunned him down without hesitation. It was now just the four of us, and we rushed into what was left of the jungle before anymore Viktor’s crept up on our six.

The jungle was all new to me, nothing like the Ever free forest. It was hotter and much moister then back home, and the trees, the trees were so much different, not like tall oak trees, but palm trees. We all looked so tired and worn out from fighting a tough, invisible enemy. None of us knew why we were fighting, they posed no threat to us, and while most of us, the Equestrian army, were on the other side of the world, who protected our family and friends?

"So, where is the nearest base we get trek to? I asked since I hadn't been in Nam for long I didn't know my way around jungles.

"North, we need to get back to the clear parts of Khe Sanh, Hue is about five hundred miles away from here, unless?" Caramel joked.

So that's what we did, we kept on high alert and stopped every time we saw a Viktor Charlie patrol, if they got too close, we gunned them down in an instant with our M16's. After hours of trekking through the harsh Vietnamese jungles, it began to rain and boy, that's when hell hit me. It rained, and it rained hard. The water went through my uniform and soaked my skin, leeches and insects were crawling all over my body, my feet felt completely numb, but I didn't dare stop and take a rest, for the group would leave me behind, but not AppleJack, every time I fell, she was always for me, and so was I.

While walking through the jungle, the thick vegetation finally subsided and we came across a US military camp, thoughts of relief sprawled zoomed through my mind. Only problem, no one was there.

" Hell yeah!" Lyra said when she was cut off by Caramel's sharp glare.

"Keep it down!" Caramel said in a stern but hushed tone.

Applejack headed down to meet nothing but a small burning campfire and a buzzing radio. I too went down to find a ghost camp.

"Dammit!" I said, the hopeless feeling crept back into mind.

"Lyra, radio, over there." Caramel ordered in broken English, and with that, Lyra handed him the object and turned the volume to maximum. The radio spoke:

"This is Alpha 6-16, we are defending Hue, and the Charlie’s are attacking from the North and West! The NLF has launched a main attack! The whole of South Vietnam is UNDER attack! All units report, this is our final stand men, fall back to...............er, em...shit?!

We went silent; hell just broke loose around the whole of Vietnam. Hue was already under heavy fire, close to being overrun, and Saigon was probably bombed to shit by now. I decided to get some sleep in the abandoned camp, and soon everyone else joined to, except for Lyra, something was wrong about her, she wasn't as scared and alert as we were...
