Chapter 1: Through the Portal
Twilight picked up the sheet the machine spit out and hung it by all the other scientific charts. In the middle was a picture of the statue in front of Canterlot High.“No doubt about it Spike, there's definitely something going on at that school". His only response was two small barks.
-2 Days Later-
It was a nice day to be out of the city. The sun was out and there were few clouds in the sky. Twilight arrived on a bus along with spike, her dog, a few yards away from Canterlot High. It had been two days since Princess Twilight and her friends saved the school for the second time. It was strange seeing students hanging out with each other. The human world Twilight had yet to learn about friendship still. All she would think about were her studies.
“Well Spike we're here, and there's the statue”, said Twilight while walking slowly making her way towards the portal.
“Twilight?”
Twilight turned around to see a 2 girls, one of them was wearing a leather jacket with red and yellow hair. The other looked sporty like, she was carrying a soccer ball between her hip and arm. She had bright multicolored rainbow hair. They walked towards her with surprised looks. Twilight was confused when they squeezed her into a tight embrace.
“Uhmm do I know you two”, asked Twilight with a confused look on her face.
“Of coarse you do, it's us Sunset and Rainbow. Don't act like you don't know us”, replied Rainbow with amusement. She knelt down on one knee to pet Spike."Hey Spike"
A simple "ruff" was the only noise that came out of his muzzle.
"Uh, right. Okay", was all she said.
Sunset gave a wary look on her face. she knew Twilight Sparkle alright and Twilight was never the prankster type. Twilight, The Princess of Friendship, would never act like she didn't know her friends when she seen them. Twilight Sparkle would never waste time she could be catching up. Besides Twi could never pull off a good prank. Sunset had also noticed Spike's response to Rainbow. He didn't speak at all. It was just a bark that a normal dog would make. She knew something strange was going on.
“I don't know you nor have I ever seen you in my life”, said Twilight as she snatched up Spike off the ground. She gave a wary look at the two, now confused, girls.
"Okay Twilight whatever prank you're trying to pull isn't fooling anyone. Now let's go tell the others that you're back", at that Dash took her by the arm with Spike in Twilight's arms without giving her a chance to respond. Sunset only stayed quiet the whole time trying to figure out what was wrong with their friend.
The four walked in through the school doors only to find everyone walking to lunch. Once they realized that it was time to eat they headed to the cafeteria as well. Everyone noticed the what they thought was the pony world Twilight coming in, and before she knew it everyone was crowding around her or thanking her for saving the school once again 2 days ago. Eventually, Dash handled everything and everyone returned to their seats. The four headed towards their table where Fluttershy, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity were already seated and waiting on the other 2 girls to show up.
“Hey guys, you won't believe who we found on our way here”, Dash said as she pulled Twilight in towards the table.
“Twilight!”, they all said simultaneously.
“Look I don't know any of you and definitely don't know how you know my name”, said Twilight now annoyed by her situation. She tugged her arm away from Rainbow."and will you please stop grabbing me like that."
“We're your friends, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Sunset Shimmer”, said Pinkie.
“You're probably mistaking me for someone else. I don't have time for friends, and right now I need to go handle what i came here for”, said twilight in a frustrated tone. She got up and took Spike in her hands and speed walked to the front of the school.
“What does she mean by 'what she came here for' ”, asked Applejack.
“Wait a second, maybe that's Twilight's twin sister that lives in the city that she told me about when she first came to CHS”, said Pinkie almost too fast for the others to understand. " Or she's the Twilight that belongs here and she's been doing research on the magic portal and that's why shes here.
Sunset Shimmer gasped, " the portal".
Twilight was outside already observing the portal. When she went to touch the front to her surprise her hand had slipped right through. "Did my hand just-- no no come on Twilight how would that even happen? It's not like this is some strange portal that goes to another world, that's just impossible."
The seven were turning the corner to the front of the school."Hurry we gotta catch up to her before she finds out what it really is", said Sunset as she jogged down the hallway only to be greeted my Principle Celestia. " Girls, you know the rules. No running in the halls. Someone could get hurt ", she said in her principle like tone. Once they made sure she was gone they ignored the rule and ran down to the front doors.
Twilight turned around to look at her then down at Spike and said, “Well Spike, ya know what they say, won't know it till you try it.” Spike only barked. At that she grabbed the purple and green dog and got ready to go through the portal.
"STOP DON'T!", said Sunset as she ran out the doors. Twilight only ignored her and stepped into the portal. Before she had entered Sunset lept to hold her back, but it didn't work and both of them went through. In a second the two girls and Spike were gone.
