> Chemically Unbalanced > by Night Music > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Making New Friends > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chemically Balanced here and my new base of operations is perfect, the forest contains most of the ingredients that I need to make my potions, and the shops can keep me stocked with enough parts to fix up my contraptions that I need not worry over fixing them or buying new ones. Some ponies around here had complained about a dragon in these parts, and that gave me an idea for a potion. Once I make the potion and test it out the notes for it will be below along with any other potions that I attempt at making. But I digress. I really hope this will go better than Canterlot. This is to a new year along with a new location! Day One: Fire Proofing The idea that I had stated above was something that came to me when I had looked up and saw a rolling cloud of smoke billowing out from the top of a mountain. Ponies weren't that bothered by it for some odd reason. They had just went on like it was any other day... it was weird. But oh well, back to my idea! Like the title suggests I will be making a fire proofing potion in which ponies will drink or pour on themselves to become, fire proof. The idea itself made me remember my days in Canterlot when that giant dragon had broke through the school at Canterlot when I was a little colt, it was the most terrifying thing in my life, he didn't really do anything, but I grew up in a family that had instilled the fear of anything different in me. While I had grew out of those fears, a giant dragon the size of the Canterlot tower is someone I would not like to meet. I just noticed this has been me rambling again, I'm sorry to who ever reads this, I should just continue with the potion... Like I was saying before I got sidetracked, this potion should be able to make somepony, anypony, fire proof. It explains itself really, just some Pheonix feathers, Dragon scales and Timberwolf sap add some various liquids and Ta-da! But the problem is the procurement of such ingredients will be... dangerous because no shop owner in Ponyville is brave enough to try to harness these things and the ones that do have those ingredients price them way out of my range. I'm going out to get these ingredients, wish me luck. It must be my lucky day! It turns out there was a Dragon in this town who goes by the name of Spike, and he was glad to turn over one of his scales to me for a number of gems, he said he was the assistant to somepony around here but I was to overjoyed to hear him and walked away with scale in tow (I feel bad now that I think about it, just leaving him there like that without a proper introduction and the reason of why I needed the scale in the first place.), the Timberwolf sap was easy enough to claim, given that the forest the ponies have dubbed 'The Everfree Forest' is overrun with those things, I just went to the edge of the forest and bottled some off the ground. The Phoenix feather though, while there is a Phoenix family in the Everfree, they don't take kindly to those who pick up what they drop(I realized after writing this, that they were being territorial, not in fact defending their own feathers). There were so many of them... Testing will begin immediately. The potion I made works on small fires, and by that I mean I stuck my hoof in my fireplace after I had lit it and drank the potion, but there is one small side effect... While the potion does make you fire proof, the heat that travels over any part of the body gets stored as some kind of energy, releasing at a later time, or if small enough, can be burned off with simple exercises.(Get the joke I just made? 'burned'? get it? Yeah, you got it.) More testing is needed. I successfully made a potion that can make you lava proof! Possibly an effect of the Dragon scales, but either way... I did it! I had went to the mountains in the region that had shown dragon activity and they had let me test out the potion in their lava pits, I asked them and they told to jump right in, so I did. I wish they could see their faces when I crawled out of the pool covered in lava, it was hilarious. But the side effect had kicked in maybe a minute after I had crawled out... Let's just say that breathing fire and melting solid stone isn't natural for a pony. This is going down as a success, but I still need to work out the kinks for the potion so the side effect is at a minimum. The lava itself had given me enough energy to melt stone and breathe literal fire. I still feel a little buzzed too, kind of like a sugar high. In other news getting back here was a little rushed, I was so ecstatic that I forgot that most buildings in Ponyville weren't fire proof... most of the fires got put out before major damage could be done, I took full responsibility of my actions and I'm doing community service to help rebuild some houses. I can't complain though, it was my fault that almost half of Ponyville burned down and some ponies got singed. But hey science can and will do that... not much else happened, but I did get another idea for a future potion to make. But that will be discussed at a later date for now, it's off to bed. Oh I can't sleep, I'm so excited for this new potion! And I think I still have some lava in my system. The next potion I will be making is a lightning rod potion, the name can be deceiving. The potion I have in mind will make ponies more resistant to lightning strikes, while Pegasi are already resistant, well not really, they can be struck without severe repercussions but Earth ponies and Unicorns, they don't have the same luck. For an Earth pony like myself, it can lead to severe muscle spasms for a day or two. Unicorns have the unlucky side effect of it just completely draining them of magic, this can lead to fatigue, nausea, and possibly the loss of consciousness. So, I aim to remedy this and help those who work in conditions that might prove hazardous to their health. Summed up? I want to help ponies who work in lightning storms, maybe ponies out at sea, or weather ponies who don't like the discomfort of being struck. Let's hope this will prove more helpful than burning things down...
