"Brother?"

"Brother?"

"Brother, you okay?"

Soarin lied on his bed, his blood shot eyes fully open as it showed the world the lack of sleep he got the previous night. Of course, the one pony who was there to see it couldn't because of her life long condition.

"Brother! Say something! What's wrong?" asked Soarin's young sister, his main reason of being a Wonderbolt, the one who meant the entire world to him.

"It's...it's..." he could spit out the words to explain what happened. "it's...complicated." he just hid his head under the covers. Although since his sister was blind, it was a bit of a useless gesture.

"Brother, I know when you are holding back something, I can hear it in your voice." the little filly responded. "What happened last night? You can in late slurring and reeking of cider from your date."

"I...I don't want to talk about it...just leave your older brother alone for a bit." he weakly said from under the covers.

"Brother, please, I'm really worried about you and you're all I have as family." she pleaded. Her pale eyes started to tear up with worry.

"I'm a failure Snowdrop, a failure and a screw-up!" he exclaimed, head still under the covers.

Snowdrop was stunned. "Don't say that brother! You're the greatest Wonderbolt I know! You hold the Wonderbolt altitude record and the endurance record! You are not a screw-up!"

"I SCREWED UP MY RELATIONSHIP WITH APPLEJACK!" snapped Soarin as he peaked it head out from the covers and yelled at her sister with frustration.

The filly was even more stunned. "What?"

"I unintentionally told her an offensive joke, we got into a nasty argument and she stormed off okay! I screwed-up big time!" he immediately dove under the covers to hide his shame.

"I...I'm sorry to hear..." Snowdrop did not know what to say. "What are you...going to do...about it?"

"Hide away from the world until I die alone."

The little filly looked on with pity. "Brother...you're stronger than that..."

Soarin said nothing apart from a few sniffles. "Just leave me alone and make yourself breakfast..."

Snowdrop just stood there for a minute before she reluctantly left the room. "I'm sorry for what happened brother..." she mumbled.

"Can we go back to the days our love was strong? Can you tell me how a perfect love goes wrong?" sang Soarin to himself through his tears. "Can somebody tell me how much of a bucking idiot I was!" he clenched his teeth in frustration. He angrily push the bed sheets off of him. "AUGH!" he screamed out.

"Why?! Why?! Why?!!!" he yelled at the ceiling before he broke down in tears.

The moment was interrupted by a knock on the door. "Brother?" said his sister from the other side. "I managed to teach myself to make oatmeal without burning anything, not bad for a blind filly if you say so."

"I'm not hungry!" he yelled at the door.

"You need to eat!"

"I'm not hungry!!"

Snowdrop did not want to fight her older brother, so she just quietly walked away with the food, dejected.

Soarin looked around his room, it was pretty plain despite his income apart from Wonderbolt posters, memorabilia and family photos, until he looked at his nightstand. On the nightstand was a picture of himself and Applejack cuddled up under an apple tree. The photo brought too many memories into the stallion. "You naive fool..." he remarked to his past self in the photo before he picked it up and threw against the far away. The frame broke and the glass shattered as it hit the wall and fell to the floor; only the picture remained intact.

His heart shattered as well at the moment of impact, he collapsed back on the bed, foreleg clutching his chest. "It...hurts...it...hurts..."

Tears flowed out of his eyes again. He felt like he was drowning. "Why...?" he gasped before he blacked out.

Soarin woke up on his bedroom floor, judging from the position of the sun outside his window, he was passed out for several hours. He looked around to see that the entire day was not a dream, everything that happened last night and in the morning still happened. The stallion just sighed and slowly got up on all fours. He left his room and slowly walked down the stairs to see his sister diligently working on her school work. Her ears perked up from the sound of hooves. "Brother?"

"It's me." her sadly responded.

"How are you feeling?"

"Empty inside, but it should heal in time." he sat at the table next to her. "You never get over a break-up, but you do learn to deal with one in time." he explained to his young sister.

"I know you'll get through it, you are my biggest inspiration." she smiled.

"And you're my biggest inspiration too." smiled Soarin back even though she'll never see it. It sometimes pained him to know that she'll never appreciate how handsome her future husband would be or how beautiful her future foals would be, but he also knew that whatever obstacle she encountered, she'll make it through it.

"So...do you need any help with your school work?" he offered.

"Just need some help with my social studies class, you know a lot about that."

"I know, I sometimes think that if I hadn't became a Wonderbolt, I would be a social studies teacher." he chuckled for the first time in over twelve hours.

Soarin's mind wandered to the subject of the future, what now? He's single again which means he could rut any more senseless again if he wanted, but he felt it wouldn't feel right. Although another question that popped into his mind is how long he'll be single or if he'll be with Applejack again. But right now, his world now revolves around the Wonderbolts and his sister, and nopony else.

Just have to take it one day at time with lots of adjustment and support.

The future may not be so bad after all.
