Of all the places she could’ve went in her dreams, this was where her mind chose to bring her. She did not know why she was there. Was she picking up a friend’s child, or her own? She looked at her front hooves, and was surprised to find that they did not show signs of any aging. Whenever this dream was occurring, it was recent. Before she could make any more observations, the school bell rang. Children began to flood out of the schoolhouse, and she began to look for traits among the kids that she recognized. None of them stuck out in particular. A few taps on her forelegs made her aware of a small presence below her. She looked down to see two strangely familiar light-blue fillies looking up at her. “Well hello, you two! How was school?” She automatically said. It seems her mind had already planned out the events of the dream. As she said these words, her mind still tried to parse the events that were happening. Well, looks like these two are mine, she thought, but how am I related to them? Are they one of my friend’s kids, or mine? “It was great, mommy!” One of the fillies said. “We learned about Cutie Marks today!” The other said. Well, that answers that, Twilight thought. I’ll have to look into this later. “That’s great, you two! You guys can tell me about it on our way home!” She said enthusiastically. “I’ve already prepared lunch, and I know you guys won’t be disappointed with it!” “Dandelion sandwiches?” One of the fillies asked. “That’s right, Daydream!” Twilight’s mind responded. “Yay!” The two fillies responded simultaneously. “So, tell me some things you learned about cutie marks.” Twilight’s mind requested. As the two fillies enlightened Twilight about what they had learned, she studied the two fillies in more depth. They both were young mares that had light blue manes, and dark blue coats. They were also both Unicorns. Besides Daydream being a bit smaller than her sister, they seemed to be identical twins. They held none of the traits that Twilight held, which left a question in Twilight’s mind: who was their biological mother? As they approached the treehouse, Daydream rushed to the door and tried to open it, only to find that it was locked. “No need to rush, dear.” Twilight’s mind said as she used her magic on the door’s lock. A few clicks came from the door, and the door opened. Daydream ran into the house, her mind set on the lunch inside. The other filly stood by Twilight’s side, waiting for her to enter as well. As the two entered, the sound of Daydream snarfing down her lunch could be heard from the door. Twilight and her daughter walked over to the table, and sat down at the table just as Daydream was finishing her sandwich. After downing the glass of water that sat next to her plate, she started to gallop for the door. “Hold it, Daydream. Where do you think you’re going?” Twilight’s mind asked, procuring a questioning expression on her face. “I told my friends that I would meet them at the treehouse after lunch.” Daydream stated. “Don’t you think you should be asking permission from me before you go off and make plans?” Twilight’s mind responded. “I guess.” Daydream said, her gaze starting to fall to the floor. Twilight felt her expression turn from a scowl to a smile, and she let out a light chuckle, kidding Daydream. “I don’t mind you going out, just let me know before you do, okay?” Twilight’s mind said with a chuckle. “Sure thing mom!” Daydream said, her head now upright. “Oh, and Daydream,” Twilight’s mind asked as Daydream turned for the door, “How are the other Cutie Mark Crusaders doing?” “Well, about that.” Daydream said as she walked back towards the table and sat down in her seat. She had a troubled look in her face, and looked down at the table as she spoke. “well, It’s just me, Truffles, and Czen now.” She said. “What happened to Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle?” Twilight’s mind asked. “Well, Applebloom is off in Appleoosa helping her cousins with the apple harvest. Sweetie Belle got her Cutie Mark in Architectural Design after she designed Celestia’s sculpture for the town square and is up in Canterlot studying, and ever since Scootaloo got her job at the post office, she’s stopped showing up to the meetings.” “Well, can’t say I didn’t see this one coming.” Twilight’s mind responded. “Looks like their crusade is over.” “It is?” Daydream said, looking up at Twilight with a puzzled expression on her face. “Well, they’ve all found something they enjoy doing.” Twilight’s mind stated. ‘Scootaloo delivers mail on her scooter, Applebloom is getting more attuned to the family business, and Sweetie Belle found joy in designing beautiful sculptures and buildings. Now it’s you and your friends’ turn.” “You’re right.” Daydream agreed. She got out of her seat and began to walk towards the door, but turned around and hugged Twilight. “Thanks, mom.”  Daydream said, looking up at her parent. “No problem, Little Dreamer.” Twilight’s mind responded. Daydream galloped out the door, off to meet the other crusaders. Twilight then turned to see if the other filly was still at her seat, but found the seat empty. She wandered around the tree house until she found her in her room, reading a book that Twilight recognized as one of her old magic books. It was one of the books that taught her some of her first magic. As she read the book, the filly cuddled a doll. Upon further observation, Twilight knew what doll it was: it was Smarty Pants. “Need anything, Acuity?” Twilight’s mind asked. “I’m fine, mom.” Acuity said, her focus still on the book. “Okay. Just let me know if you need anything. Dinner will be around five, so, finish up and come down by then.” Twilight’s mind said. Acuity glanced up at the clock, noted the time, and continued reading her book. As Twilight walked down the stairs into the main area, she heard a knock on the door. “Come in,” She said, trying not to disturb Acuity. The door opened, and Fluttershy wandered in. “Hi Twilight.” Fluttershy said in her usual quiet voice. “I just wanted to come by and check on you and the kids.” “Acuity’s upstairs reading, and Daydream is out with the other Crusaders.” Twilight’s mind stated. “Personally, I’m doing fine.” “Well, that’s good to hear.” Fluttershy said. “Would you like some tea?” Twilight’s mind asked. “Sure, if, umm, it wouldn’t be too much.” Fluttershy said uneasily. “Far from it.” Twilight’s mind chuckled. “I could use some tea as well.” A few moments later, with hot tea in their hooves, Twilight and Fluttershy sat down on the couch in the main room. The library area had been transformed to be less of a library, and more of a living room. “So, what have the fillies been doing this week?” Fluttershy asked. “Well,” Twilight’s mind started, “Acuity’s mainly been reading magic books. She’s actually been progressing a lot lately. I even saw her lifting Smarty Pants, all on her own!” “Well, you know what they say: like mother, like daughter.” Fluttershy teased, making Twilight blush a bit. “So, what about Daydream?” “Well, she’s mainly been hanging out with the Cutie Mark Crusaders, and by what I’m hearing, they’re going to become the 2nd Generation. Most of the founding members have already found their talents.” “I did notice that when Scootaloo started delivering my mail. She’s much more accurate at it than my previous mail carrier, and she’s pretty fast at it, as well.” Fluttershy said. “By the way, she’s not getting into too much trouble around town, is she?” Twilight’s mind nervously asked. “Oh, heavens no. All of the times that they have helped me, nothing went wrong, and as far as I’ve heard around town, they’re actually very helpful. Those three have a skill set the size of a dictionary.” Fluttershy concluded. Twilight smiled back at Fluttershy, blushing again. By the looks of it, she thought, she had very good kids. “They have really changed in the years that you’ve raised them. If it wasn’t for their coat and mane colors, and me being with you when you adopted them, I would’ve never guessed that Trixie was their mother.” Fluttershy said, almost whispering the last part. Inside, Twilight was having a major panic attack. Wait, she thought, I adopted my kids from Trixie? Trixie is their mother? Before she knew it, Twilight had dropped her tea, and the cup had shattered on the tree floor. A few moments later, she joined the cup. “Twilight, what’s wrong? Twilight? Twilight!” She heard as she slowly faded out of consciousness.         Twilight jerked out of sleep, and jumped up into a sitting position. She was breathing heavily, and felt sweat pouring down her face.         In shock, her mind quickly paged through the events that had just happened within her dream, and sat on the last words Fluttershy had said in her dream. “I would’ve never guessed that Trixie was their mother” echoed throughout her brain.         “Twilight, get a hold of yourself.” She said to herself. “It was just a dream. Just. A. Dream.” She repeated.         She walked into the bathroom, and washed the sweat off of her face. As she did this, she heard a knock on the door. She dried her face off, and regained control of her breathing as she walked towards the door.         As she turned to greet the pony that had visited her at the door, she froze.         “Good evening, Twilight Sparkle. I’m sorry for bothering you this late, but I was wondering if I could come in and talk with you about something.” Trixie said. She was bigger. > Part 2: The Visit > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trixie Kids Part 2: The Visit By Dusk775         Feeling the deja vu of preparing tea for the second time that night made Twilight all the more anxious about Trixie’s arrival. She still could not wrap her head around the dream even surfacing in her mind. If steps towards the reality that the dream entailed were taken tonight, what else would come true?         Her mind flashed back to her and Trixie at the door. She seemed nothing like the Trixie that had originally come to Ponyville as “The Great and Powerful Trixie”. Her mane and coat were unkempt. Her eyes had lines under them, and when she spoke, she spoke normally.         A whistling coming from the kettle snapped her out of her train of thought. She lifted the kettle off of the stove with her magic, and poured its contents into the two mugs that she had prepared. She set the kettle down and lifted the two mugs. She then turned towards the doorway, where Trixie was twiddling her hooves, anxiously waiting for Twilight.         Twilight watched Trixie’s muscles loosen as she took a sip of the tea. Seeing Trixie become so relaxed by the drink, she took a sip of her own, and felt a similar feeling, but it was dulled by her mind, which still had thoughts racing through it of what the blue mare next to her would say next.         “Thank you.” Trixie said, lifting her muzzle from the mug.         This made Twilight’s mind go into overdrive.         Wait, now she’s being courteous and nice? She must have went through something that changed her, Twilight thought.         She then noticed that Trixie was looking directly at her. It seems that Twilight’s thoughts had allowed for an awkward silence to form.         “You’re welcome. So, you wanted to talk about something?” Twilight said, shifting the conversation onto the main topic.         “Umm...yeah,” Trixie said, shifting uncomfortably again. “But first, can you promise to hear me out?” She asked, her nervous eyes on Twilight.         Twilight nodded, not knowing what to say. In her current fragile state, Twilight didn’t want to say anything that would offend or emotionally disturb her.         “A-alright then. Where do I start?” She asked herself, bringing her hoof up to her chin. She thought for a few moments, before finally arriving to a conclusion.         “Well, ever since I left Ponyville, I thought hard on what had made you ponies look towards me in the way that you did. I was puzzled, until a unicorn came up to me, and gave me some advice.”         She paused to take a sip of her tea, picking it up in her hooves this time instead of using her magic. Twilight knew that it was good manners to dine without using magic when with an earth pony, but doing so when in the company of another unicorn meant one of two things; either Trixie lacked the magical stamina to do so, or she was being extremely courteous.         Finally swallowing the sip that she had taken, Trixie continued.         “I improved my performance to make it less flashy, and asked a theater in Manehatten for another chance. It took a few tries, but they finally granted me a weekend. The first day, only a few critics showed up, but they liked the show, and gave it positive reviews. By the end of the week, the show was sold out. Everything was going well. I even had gotten a request from the Wonderbolts to do a private show for then in Las Pegas.”         She sighed heavily. Twilight could tell that this was where things had taken a hit.         “The show went well. I autographs from the Wonderbolts, and they even asked me for a few. One of the members had even asked me if I wanted to go with him to grab a few drinks at the bar. I accepted, and we stayed there after the rest of the Wonderbolts had gone back to the hotel.”         Trixie had her head down, supported by her forehooves.         “I guess I had drank a bit more than I should have, because before I knew it, I woke up the next morning in a hotel room with him.”         Trixie’s voice was starting to crack. Twilight could see tears splashing on the couch below where she held her head.         “The thing is, he didn’t even love me! When I came to him a few months later with the news, he said it was just a one-night-stand!”         Twilight couldn’t help herself anymore. She scooted over to Trixie, and embraced her. She held her in her embrace for a few minutes until Trixie had calmed down.         “How far along is the foal?” Twilight asked.         “They’re due in six months, Twilight. I’m having twins.” Trixie responded.         Although Twilight held a straight face, her mind was in a state of agony.         Twins? Twins?! It’s coming true! My dream is coming true! What comes next? What will I do? What will I say? How will things happen beyond this? I-         “Is everything okay, Twilight? You’re looking pale.” Trixie asked.         “E-everything’s fine. Y-you just caught me off guard a bit there.” Twilight responded quickly.         Oh Celestia, don’t pass out now! Don’t pass out. Don’t pass out. Don’t pass out-         Surely enough, Twilight felt color return to her face, and before she knew it, her breathing had returned to normal.         “Better?” Trixie asked.         “Better.” Twilight replied.         Twilight then noticed tears starting to form in the corners of Trixie’s eyes. Twilight instinctively held Trixie’s head to her chest, feeling that she was in pain.         “Oh, Twilight. Even with one foal, I don’t think I would be able to support it. Who would my children look up to, the mom that isn’t there half of the time? Even with that, I don’t think I could give them what they want, or even what they need.”         Twilight then felt the weight of Trixie’s head shift off of her chest, and before she knew it, Trixie had her forelegs on her shoulders, and was looking Twilight straight in the eye.         “Twilight Sparkle, for the sake of my children, I am asking you, no, begging you to raise my children, so they can live the life that I could never provide them, and so they can soar to and exceed their potential, and become better ponies than their mother.”         Twilight was speechless. She had to respond with something, but being asked to adopt another pony’s unborn foals, twins nonetheless, wasn’t something that could be taken lightly.         Still under the stare of Trixie, Twilight replied.         “Trixie, I would love to go out and say yes, but this isn’t a decision I can make immediately. Not only are both of our lives in the balance, but also the lives of your foals. If you can understand, I would like to think over this and talk to my friends before I make a decision. Is that okay?” Twilight asked.         Trixie nodded. “I understand.”         “Thank you.” Twilight said. She could feel the sun rise behind her. Her and Trixie had talked for a good part of the night, and Trixie was probably tired, not only emotionally, but physically as well from the journey there.         “You’re probably exhausted. If you would like, you can rest in my bed for the day. I’ll leave Spike a note so he doesn’t freak out when he finds you in my bed.”         “I would like that a lot.” Trixie said, a large yawn following her statement.         Twilight walked over to her writing stand, where a quill and piece of paper sat. Twilight quickly scribbled a note onto the paper.         Spike,                 Yes, Trixie is in my bed. Don’t freak out, I’ll explain when I get back.         -Twilight         Satisfied with the note, Twilight quietly went up to the room with Trixie, and placed the note on the corner of Spike’s basket. Trixie had already tucked herself in, and Twilight could sense that she was asleep.         Wow, Trixie was worn out, Twilight thought.         And with that, Twilight went left the treehouse, hoping that pondering the thought and talking to her friends would help her make her decision.
