> Memories > by Bullet25 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter One: How long? > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Has is really been thirteen years? You think to yourself as you notice the date on the calendar. You still remember the incident that brought you to Equestria vividly. You were driving home late from work that night when a purple light appeared out of the nowhere in the sky above your car. Before you could even finish your thought about aliens you found yourself scraping across a dirt road at about sixty miles per hour. When you finally came to a stop you passed out. The first thing you saw when you came to was a white coated pony with a pink mane changing bandages on your leg. You didn’t know what to think. “What the,” you said, pulling your leg away from the pony. “Shh. It’s okay. You had a bad accident. Let me put a fresh bandage on your wound,” the pony said. “What in the hell is going on?” You asked while trying to sit up. The pain you felt forced you back down. “You might not want to try that, you have several cuts along your torso, legs and arms, three broken ribs, and fractured leg.” “I’m guessing the pain means this isn’t a dream? I can’t believe I’m talking to a horse right now.” The pony rolled her eyes. “Great, don’t tell my I got to get somepony from the psych ward down here again. It’s going to be the fourth time this week. By the way, What are you? I have to fill in the ‘species’ box of your chart still but nopony knows what to put.” You raised your eyebrow. “Where am I?” “Ponyville General Hospital. Now, species?” The pony picked up a pen in her mouth to begin writing. “Human. How did I get here?” After writing the pony spit the pen out and flip over a page on the clipboard. “Patient of unknown species brought in to emergency ward on September the eighth, one thousand fourteen by Twilight Sparkle. Patient had cuts all over his body. After cleaning and bandaging, X-Rays showed three broken ribs and one minor fractured leg. Leg was fitted for cast and patient remains in coma. Which you seem to have just woken from.” You look around. Other than shorter tables and beds it looks like a normal hospital. “How long have I been in a coma?” “Umm. Three weeks?” “Three weeks! What happened? Wheres my phone?” You tried and get back up only to have the pain re-confirm that you can’t be doing so. “Hey lay down. I don’t want to have to sedate you,” The pony said while getting a syringe out. “Okay, okay. I’m down. Just tell me what happened and hand my my phone.” The pony looked back at you with her eyebrow raised. “I don’t know what your phone is and I don’t know what happened. Look I’ll get Twilight down her maybe she can explain to you what happened.” “You okay there Sweetcakes?” The question kicked you from your memories.  “Hmm?” You look up from your breakfast, untouched and getting cold. “Oh yeah, yeah. Just thinking when I saw the date.” “Whats wrong with today, Daddy?” You look over at your daughter, Cider. You can’t help but smile when you see her. With the table obstructing your view you think how she could pass as a human right now. You know she’s not though. She’s a satyr, born of pony and human, torso of a human, lower body of a pony. You wouldn’t change that for anything in the world though. Before you can answer your daughter Applejack does, “Nothin’ Sugarcube. Your father just remembered something he has to do today.” “I’m going to go to my study,” you say. Walking out of the kitchen you pat, Cider on her head. “Daddy, you didn’t eat anything though,” Cider says to you. “Don’t you be worryin’ about what your father does,” Applejack says. “Now go get your books before you’re late for school.” When you get to your study you sit at your desk and sigh. Thirteen years you think again. Where have they gone? You take a key out of your pocket and unlock the drawer on the desk. You take out the one thing from it, your phone. Hum, I wonder what model they’d be on now? > Chapter Two: Phone > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- You hold the power button till the boot screen comes on. Once it gets to the lock screen you notice the power level, twenty percent. I’m going to have to get Twilight to power this thing up again. It took her two months to figure out how to repower it with magic but it was worth it. Ehh, maybe its time I give it to her and let her tinker with it like she wants to. You continue with your routine. Unlocking the screen you go straight into the messaging app. You tap on the only conversation you left on the phone, ‘Mom and Dad’, and scroll all the way back. 09/09/2014 10:34pm Hey Mom, I don’t know if you are going to get this but I’m fine… I think. I’m told I am in some town called ‘Ponyville’. I was seriously hurt but don’t worry I should be fine. Get this the town is filled with talking ponies. I know crazy right. Message not sent! Tap to try again. “Damn it!” You toss the phone to the end of the hospital bed. “You guys don’t by some chance have some kind of internet or phone service?” The purple pony sitting on the chair near the wall cocks her head. “I don’t know what those things are to tell you yes or no. What’s wrong” “Nothing, I just tried texting my mom but I have no service. I was just kind of hoping it would still worked.” Looking over at Twilight you can tell she doesn’t know what you are saying. “Oh what’s the difference, you have no Idea what I’m talking about.” “Noo, but if there is something I can do to help let me know.” “Can you invent the cell phone?” “No.” “Can you get me back to Earth?” “Not right now, but I contacted the princess for help.” “Oh great a princess pony. I’m sure that will just make everything sooo much better.” “Hey I’m just trying to help,” Twilight says. You sigh, “Sorry, Sorry. Its just. How would you feel if you suddenly woke up in a completely different world with colored, talking ponies, then find out you can’t even contact your parents?” “I guess I’d be depressed,” she responds while looking at the floor. “Right. Now how would you also feel if the talking pony currently sitting in the room for you admitted she was responsible for said situation because of some stupid experiment?” You lay yourself back down on the bed. Twilight rubs the back of her neck. “I guess I’d be pretty annoyed and angry at said pony.” “Right. Sooooooo.” “Sooo, I guess I should leave?” “I want to get some sleep anyway,” you say. You get back up and pick your phone up. You turn the phone off and place it on the little table next to the bed. As Twilight leaves she said one thing to you, “Sorry.” You ignore her and try to get some sleep. 09/10/2014 11:42am Hey Mom and Dad, I’m trying this again before my phone dies. I really hope you get this. Wherever this place is I am safe. Since I don’t think I’ll get to try again, I love you both. Message not sent! Tap to try again. “God damn it! Yes thanks phone I know the battery is critically low. Piece of shit.” There is a knock on the open door. “Is right now a bad time?” You look up to see Twilight in the doorway. “I guess not. My phone is just about to die, thats all.” Twilight’s eyes grew wide. “Wait that’s alive?! Nurse!” You roll your eyes. “No, what, Twilight, stop. Its not alive. Jesus.” One of the nurses came running into the room. “False alarm, nurse,” you say. “You can leave now.” “Are you sure?” She asks. “But. You. That thing. What. Huh,” Twilight stumbles out. You shoo the nurse out of the room. “Twilight sit,” you say pointing at the chair. You explain the basics of how the phone works, and that it isn’t alive and just a tool humans use. It took longer than you hoped. “So it’s fine, just out of power?” “Yeah, pretty much.” Twilight gets up off the chair and comes over to get a closer look at the phone. “Could I try and repower it? Its one of the least things I can do for stranding you here.” You tilt your head and raise an eyebrow. “What do you mean stranding me here? I thought you said you were getting help?” Twilight lets out a nervous laugh and starts tracing circles on the floor with her hoof. “About that. The princess got back to me. It turns out she doesn’t know anyway to get you home. But, but, she is going to have Discord help me try and get you home. It may just take a while.” You squint your eyes at her when you hear this. “You know what here take it,” you say while throwing the phone at her. She catches with her magic. “It’s not like you can make matter worse. Just leave.” Twilight again says one thing as she leaves, “Sorry.” > Chapter Three: Big Eyes > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was a bit harsh on her back then. She was only trying to help. Christ even though she came by every day I didn’t talk to her for a week after that. You continue scrolling through the texts. 12/03/2014 2:53pm I know you guys probably are never going to see this but I’m going to keep sending these texts anyway. I just got my phone repowered theres so much I want to tell you guys. Message not sent! Tap to try again. 12/03/2014 2:55pm I’ll just start with right now. Well I’m okay. I’m on some other planet or in some other dimension or something, I don’t really know. Either way it doesn’t look like I’m making it home. Message not sent! Tap to try again. It took me a month and a half to accept that fact. You think to yourself after reading the text. “Look on the bright side,” Twilight said. “At least you’ll be out of the hospital in about a week.” “Are you sure Applejack is okay with me staying at her place? I don’t want to impose, even though I don’t have anywhere to go.” Twilight waves the question off, “Yeah, it’s fine. She has plenty of space. If I had the room I'd've offered.” “I’d just hate for her to be doing this because of your mast-” Your are cut off mid sentence by a knock on the door. “I hope I’m not interrupting anything,” a voice says. “Discord knock it off,” Twilight says. There is a snap and suddenly a miss-match of creatures put into one is standing in the middle of the room. What in the hell is that. You think to yourself. “Is this the human?” he loudly whispers to you. “I think you whispered to the wrong person,” you respond. He looks at you for a second, blinks, then turns to Twilight. “Ah, yes. Twilight, is this th-” “Yes, Discord, this is the human,” Twilight responds while rolling her eyes. “Quite, hmmm. Oh where are my manners? I’m Discord,” he bows. “And what might your name be?” Before you even have a chance to answer he interrupts. “No wait, don’t tell me. Umm, Open Smiles? No, Candy Hair? Na, Two Legs? Oh wait I got it, Twilight Sparkle… Now where have I heard that name before?” “Is he always like this?” you ask Twilight. “Pretty much. Just go with it.” “Of course, thats her name,” Discord points at Twilight. “Pist, Twilight, did you know you and this human have the same name?” “Discord his name isn’t Twilight Sparkle, it’s-” “No, I’ll get it. Maybe something less pony-ish. Ice Cream? Na, thats a food. Maybe. You know what, I’m just going to call you Sir Big Eyes the Third.” “Discord! You can’t just rename him.” “Why not? Just look at him.” Discord snaps his fingers again and appears on the other side of your hospital bed. He lifts your head up and holds your eyes open wide. “Just look at how big these things are!” “Can you please let go of me?” “Oh, sorry.” Discord lets go of your head and reappears in the middle of the room. “Whatever, If he wants to call me Sir Big Eyes the Third he can. It’s no sillier than some of the other names I’ve heard in the past month.” “Thats the spirit, Big Eyes,” Discord says, appearing behind you again and patting you on the back. “You know I shared a hotel room with a human before. Dreadful night. Only one bed and he kept shedding his skin everywhere.” “We don’t shed,” you deadpanned. “Really,” he responded, stroking his chin. “What did I spend the night with then?” “Look Twilight said you are going to help me get home.” “Oh yes, yes, yes, that.” This time Discord actually walked to the around the bed back to the center of the room. When he didn’t continue speaking you decided to ask, “Well? Can you help me?” “Do you know how to teleport?” “No,” you deadpanned again. “Well then I’m afraid you’re stuck here. Unless you learn to teleport you can’t get home.” At the time you would have done anything to get back home. Now though, you don’t think you’d change it for anything in the world. > Chapter Four: Fruit > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/25/2014 07:32am Merry Christmas! Sending… Please. Message not sent! Tap to try again. Please. Just send. Again you tap the screen. Sending… Message not sent! Tap to try again. There’s a knock on the door. You don’t answer it. You just tap the message on the screen again. Sending… Message not sent! Tap to try again. There's another knock on the door which you again don’t answer. You didn’t need to, the door creaks open. “You okay, sugarcube? You haven’t come down for some breakfast.” You ignore Applejack and continue tapping your phone. Sending… Message not sent! Tap to try again. Applejack walks over to you and places a hoof on your phone. “Hey now, this ain’t a day to be cryin’.” You look up at her. “I’m never going to see them again. I can’t even tell them I’m safe. It’s christmas and I can’t even tell them not to worry. There’s no way they’re enjoying their christmas with their child missing, why should I enjoy mine?” “Shh, shh.” Applejack sit on the bed next to you and starts rubbing your back. “It’ll be okay. I know it can be hard sometimes. Trust me, I know. Listen, I don’t tell ponies ‘bout this so you better keep your mouth shut, but there are nights that I cry myself to sleep. But I stay strong for my sister. At least you know yours are still alive.” “I’m sorry, Applejack,” You say while sniffing abit. “Don’t be, they knew the risks they were talkin’.” “Do you mind me asking what happened?” “Equestria had a war with the Gryphon states up north about sixteen years ago. Pa’s enlisted, Ma’s volunteered as a nurse. Pa died in combat. Ma’s convoy got ambushed on their way home. One of the unicorns protecting the convoy got hit while charging a spell. It was friendly fire.” “I’m sorry.” “Na,” She waves you off. “It feels good talkin’ about it with somepony in a similar situation. Blooms too young to remember them, Mac never talks about anything, and Grannys starting to forget in her old age. I still have plenty of good memories of them anyway.” Applejack laid back on the bed. “This one time, I must’ve been like three at the time. We all went up to this fair, ‘bout a day’s ride away. Pa had this huge apple, must’ve been five feet wide. Well he was sure was getting him first place in the contest there. We get there and three ponies had bigger fruits. They put them all on display for the day, judgin’ was going to be the next day. So that night Mac and I sneak out and find a pen of goats. We thought that we’d get the goats to eat the other fruits and Pa’s would win then.” “I guess it didn’t work,” you ask. “Na the goats ran off and ate everyponies fruits including ours. Man, Pa was pissed. We never did tell him. Although it would have been mighty suspicious if Pa’s was the only fruit not eaten.” Applejack jumps off the bed, back onto her hoofs. “Well I best be heading back downstairs. You comin’?” “Yeah, I’ll be down in a minute.” As Applejack leaves you tap the message one last time. Sending… Message not sent! Tap to try again. > Chapter Five: Remember that night? > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- You scroll through more text messages before another one sparks a memory. 01/04/2017 2:26pm I really don’t know how its possible but I think I’m going to be a dad… Message not sent! Tap to try again. “I’m gonna bucking kill him!” You hear Big Mac screaming from the first floor. You look up from your book, at the clock, to see that its only nine thirty in the morning. What could he possibly be yelling about this early? You think. Before you can even contemplate the thought the door to your room is kicked wide open, breaking partly off the door frame. Big Mac is standing in the doorway, seething with rage. “You son of a whore!” he screams at you, moving slowly towards you. “H-hey Big Mac. What, ah, what seems to be the problem?” you ask with a sheepish smile. “What seems to be the problem?! What seems to be the problem?!” He grabs your shirt by the collar and pulls you in closer to his face. You still don’t understand how ponies can grab things with their hooves. “I’ll tell you what’s the problem! You! Knocking up my sister!” He throws you down on the the ground. Applejack appears in the doorway. “Mac don’t hurt him!” “Applejack, what’s he talking about?” Applejack sighs “Remember the New Years Eve party at Twilights?” “Noooooo.” Big Mac grabs your shirt again and you put your hands up. “I got so drunk there all I remember is getting there then waking up the next day here, hungover.” “Well I wasn't quite as drunk, and in heat.” Applejack traces a circle on the floor before continuing. “And I… might’vetakenadvantageofthesituationwhenwegothome,” she spits out. “You what?” Both Big Mac and yourself question at the same time. “I’m sorry. Its just. We’ve been goin’ out now for like a year and a half, and you didn’t seem to argue” “Wait, so AJs gonna be a mother?” Applebloom questions while sicking her head in the room. “Bloom, out,” Big Mac commanded. “How is this even possible?” You ask with a puzzled look on your face. “Whatcha mean how is this possible? Didn’t ya ever have sex-ed in school?” Big mac finnly lets your shirt go. “No, I mean yes, I mean how is this physically possible. I’m a human, she’s a pony. It shouldn’t be able to happen.” “I don’t know. Magic?” Applejack struggs. About an hour later you found yourself, Applejack and Big Mac at Twilight’s where she did, indeed, confirm, it was magic. I still can’t believe she confirmed it was magic.
