> Firefly > by videogamegurl96 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter One > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was the second day of spring in Ponyville. Rainbow Dash was flying through the sky and kicking the clouds away, like she was supposed to and always does. She saved the final cloud, however, for herself to rest and admire the work that everypony made during Winter Wrap-Up the other day. “Man,” she began to think out loud, “We sure did a great job this year. Princess Celestia would be so proud of us.” Not even a tiny puddle of water from the snow marred the beauty of the rainbow pegasus' most visited town. The grass was as vivid and green as it ever was before. The flowers were bright and very colorful. Rainbow Dash was able to see Fluttershy’s house from where she was. Dash smiled as she saw all of her friend’s pets scamper and play around her cottage. A small, warm spring breeze caressed the cyan pony’s mane. She took a deep breath and took it all in. “Gee,” Rainbow Dash began to think out loud again, “I wish Fluttershy was here with me. My reaction to all this would probably be priceless to her.” She could just see it now, in a simple daydream. Her and the yellow pegasus together on the cloud, her dear friend would show her all of the flawlessness that Ponyville had to offer in the springtime. “Look!” Fluttershy would begin to say, “There’s my cottage! And all my animal friends! Look at them as they play without a care in the world!” “Wow!” Rainbow would reply, “That’s so... awesome.” Dash would’ve never said anything like that when it came to nature. But this time it would have been different. She would not have helped but to use words like “awesome” and “cool” to describe all the overwhelming glamour of her friends’ hometown. “And look!” the cyan pony’s friend began again, “There’s downtown Ponyville! And Cloudsdale!” “It’s like you can see all of Equestria just from this little cloud!” Rainbow almost interrupted her. “I know. Isn’t it amazing?” “Yeah. So cool...” They sat in silence for a few minutes, overlooking Ponyville. The little spring wind continued to soothe the two winged friends. Rainbow Dash was just about to accidentally fall asleep, when suddenly, Fluttershy said, “You know what all this needs now?” Dash snapped herself awake. “What?” “A Rainbow. A big, bright, beautiful rainbow. The biggest one anypony can make.” Of course Fluttershy was talking about Dash. She was the only pony in all of Equestria that can make a rainbow without the help of any factories, unlike any pegasus in Cloudsdale. “The biggest one I can make, huh?” “Oh yes! I’m talking huge! Ginormous! Humongous! Big enough for Princess Celestia to see from her castle!” Fluttershy almost softly yelled with the biggest smile you would ever see on her face. Rainbow thought about it. Finally, she replied, “The biggest rainbow I can make can be done through a Sonic Rainboom.” “Oh.” The yellow pony’s smile began to fall and she started to become ashamed. She felt so greedy about asking her dear friend about doing a deed so risky and ridiculous. She forgot that Rainbow Dash had to perform the legendary Sonic Rainboom in order to have her desire granted. “Don’t be sad!” Dash began, “If you really want me to do the Rainboom, I’ll do it!” “Really?” The baby-pink haired pegasus questioned, with a tiny bit of joy and hope leftover from just a few seconds before. “Really! Fluttershy, you’re one of my best friends. I’d never leave you hanging!” Fluttershy hugged Dash, “Oh thank you! I can’t wait to see everypony’s face when they see your rainbow! It’ll really feel like spring!” That’s when Rainbow Dash woke up. She must’ve dreamt the whole thing. She looked to her right. Fluttershy wasn’t there. She looked down. There was Fluttershy, feeding all her animals their lunches. Dash lied back down on the cloud. A Sonic Rainboom, the cyan pegasus thought, A Sonic Rainboom... You know what? I don’t care if I dreamt the whole thing or not, I’m gonna do a Sonic Rainboom! Then it’ll really be spring in Equestria! Maybe the Wonderbolts will see me and let in the team! Thinking about about the exclusive flying team alone was enough of motive the rainbow pony. Kicking the cloud she spent an hour lying on, Rainbow Dash flew down to Ponyville and announced that she was going to do the legendary Rainboom for a fourth time. > Chapter Two > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Word about Rainbow Dash’s announcement spread quickly. By mid-afternoon, everypony in Ponyville was the center of town, waiting for the epic rainbow. The cyan pony’s five best friends were even there to support and cheer her on. “I can’t believe Rainbow Dash is going to do a third Sonic Rainboom.” Twilight Sparkle exclaimed. “I know! And to think the first and second ones were awesome! I bet that this third one is going to be the best of them all!” Pinkie Pie replied with a huge white smile that she was ever so famous for. “Sweetie Belle heard the news from Scootaloo. When she told me, I simply had to stop all of my work and watch!” cooed Rarity. “And Scotaloo told Applebloom. Shoo! When the little whipper-snapper told me all ‘bout it, I dragged the whole family! Even Granny Smith!” Applejack butted in. “I was the first to know. She said she got the inspiration in a dream she just had.” Fluttershy added, “She told me to tell everypony about her doing a rainbow to seal the start of spring.” Chatter filled the town center. Several minutes later, the mayor silenced the crowd. “Fillies and gentlecolts, as mayor of Ponyville, I am proud to announce that spring has officially come! However, there’s one pony who thinks otherwise. She sought inspiration by the power of nature to create the biggest, most colorful rainbow Equestria has yet to see. And now, without further ado, put your hooves together for our fellow citizen Rainbow Dash, as she going to perform the epic and mystifying Sonic Rainboom!” Applause and cheers spilled from the population. Rainbow Dash was high above a cliff, far from town, but she knew when it was her time to fly by the sound and slight rumble of the ponies at the Town Center. She hesitated at first, though. She had a small, tugging feeling that something will go wrong with this particular Rainboom. The past and only two she performed had been complete accidents. One to beat a bully at his own game, the other to save her friend and heroes. This one was going to be done on purpose. Dash didn’t know if she was going to be able to do it. Hoping to get the guilt off her, she began flying skyward. Higher and higher and higher still, she flew. She flew upward to clouds she wasn’t able to kick because they were so high. When she started to feel lightheaded by the lack of oxygen, she knew she was ready. Second thinking it still, she zoomed down. Faster and faster, the cyan pegasus flew. Her terminal velocity to this day is still in question. Sweat, silvia, and tears poured from every opening of her face. Everything was the way it was the past times Dash did the Rainboom. Maybe she was overreacting. Maybe she was worrying over nothing. She thought in disgust as she realized she was acting like her mother. Rainbow Dash’s mother did whatever she could to turn her only daughter into a girly filly, but Dash knew her rightful place as a tomboy. Guilt and doubt erased the blue pony’s mind as she descended even faster than ever before. She felt the Rainboom coming. The simple bowl shape of air was starting to show in front of her. Yes, Dash thought, It’s coming! I know it is! Quicker than it came, the bowl shape turned into a point. She knew she was extremely close to the Rainboom, and she wasn’t even half-way there to the ground. Rainbow Dash was beginning to forget who and where she was, but it was just part of the expirence, and she liked it. The air was speeding past through her faster than a cheetah chasing its prey. So much air zipped through her that her coat began to feel like it was on fire. Fire, Dash thought, That’s not right! My coat’s not supposed to feel like that! Oh no! Something’s wrong! I’m going to die! She tried to scream through her gritted teeth. The ponies in Ponyville started to see Rainbow Dash. She was about three quarters of the way there. Pinkie Pie was watching her friend’s performance through her binoculars. “Aw! She’s so happy, she’s crying!” she exclaimed. “Let me see.” answered Twilight Sparkle. She put the binoculars to her blue-violet eyes. At first, she did see the blue pegasus flying downward, faster than she remember when she herself saw her do it last the Young Flyer’s Competition in Cloudsdale. Then, Twilight noticed something strange about her friend. She wasn’t using her wings. They lied close to her body. “Uh, Pinkie?” The purple unicorn exclaimed. “She’s not happy. She’s in distress. She’s not flying. She’s... FALLING!” All the citizens screamed and ran all over the place. No pony knew where to go or what to do. Even the mayor was in panic. Rainbow Dash was very close now. She wasn’t flying nor was she even falling. It didn’t matter at that point though. She knew that she was going to die. Celestia must’ve given her the dream as a sign saying that is was her time. As the rainbow-maned pegasus soared downward, she thought her final words. I’m sorry you misunderstood me, Mom. She began, Twilight, I’m sorry for I those times I made fun of you for being so smart. Pinkie, I’ve had a lot of fun with you and the pranks and all. You may be random, but that’s why you’re my best friend. Rarity, I’m sorry if I had ever driven you insane with my tomboyishness. Applejack, thanks for being there with me for all my sporting events and playing with me. Fluttershy, thank you for Tank. Please take good care of him. And Princess, whatever I did, I’m so sorry. Before I do die, though, I just want you to do me a big favor. Please give my best regards to all my friends. > Chapter Three > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dash was just yards away from death now. She finally accepted that her time has come and closed her eyes. Everypony was back in the huge crowd like before, except they left a huge circle as a target for their fellow friend, for they all knew too that she was about to seal her fate. All her friends knew too and began to cry. “I can’t look!” Rairty sobbed out, covering her eyes with her hooves. “Tell me when it’s over!” Fluttershy cried, doing the same. Applejack just took off her cowboy hat and placed over her heart. Pinkie Pie just started bawling. Twilight Sparkle bowed her head and whispered “I’m so sorry.” as a little tear came from her unicorn eye. Rainbow Dash opened her eyes right before she hit the ground. All she saw was the green of the ground. A split-second later, she saw pure white; along that was a sound she never heard before. It wasn’t a SPLAT! from her fall of death. It wasn’t a BOOM! from a Sonic Rainboom, either. It was a z-z-za-ZAP! from a science fiction movie. Lightning split from the ground. Rainbow Dash was gone. Not dead, but gone. The “target” was empty. Everypony quickly dried their tears and stared in shock. Dead silence loomed the Town Center. Two minutes ago, they were ready to mourn. Now, they have no clue what was going on. Was it a trick? A prank? Some looked around to see if Rainbow was behind a tree or something. Nothing. Others looked to see if Trixie was in town to see if she had anything to do this this. Nothing. “W-What j-j-just h-h-happened?” Rarity finally broke the silence. Every pony answered with an “I don’t know” along with other chatter. The mayor finally announced in a nervous tone “Now now, everypony, please remain calm. I don’t know what just happened, but I’m sure that Rainbow Dash, wherever she is, will be just fine.” “Let’s throw search parties!” Bon Bon screeched. “Yeah!” all the ponies answered in unison. The mayor thought for a second. “Alright, earth ponies stay here in Ponyville. Pegasi, fly to Cloudsdale. Unicorns, take the train and head to Canterlot. We must find Rainbow Dash by any means necessary!” > Chapter Four > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash opened her eyes again. She wasn’t in Ponyville anymore. If anything, she didn’t think that she was in Equestria anymore. She was in some kind of a portal. A tube. A rainbow tube. She was still falling, but not as hard as it was back in Ponyville. It was more of a fall you would experience by tripping down the stairs or jumping off the diving board at the pool. Dash screamed as she kept descending downward. Why was she there? Where was she going? Finally, after about ten more minutes of falling, Dash stretched like she would when performing a Sonic Rainboom and was blinded by yet another sheet of sheer white. White lightning crashed through the sky as the cyan pegasus crashed onto the ground, rolled over several times, and finally landed on her side with a hard thud. She lost consciousness on impact. Two hours later, Dash finally woke up with a massive headache. However, the pain was subsided by her drastic surroundings. “Where am I?” She thought out loud. With the exception of a few lampposts, it was growing dark and was very quiet. Suddenly, Dash became startled by a huge clock that was displayed in a large building in the middle of campus. It struck six in the evening. Dash got up on her hooves and wondered around. She limped and it hurt a little at first, but once she really get the hang of it, her stride was a lot smoother. The blue pony was the only living creature that stirred into the warm, late summer night air. She looked around for some kind of a clue that could help her in just where in the world she was. After wondering for about half of a mile, she noticed iron gates. Dash flew over. It read in big, bold, golden letters: KENT MILITARY SCHOOL “Military School?!” Dash almost screamed, “What in the name of Celestia am I doing at a MILITARY SCHOOL?!” She looked around frantically. Looking for anybody that can tell just how to get back home. No one. Just her and the sign. “Well, the least I can do is look around some more.” Dash began to fly, giving herself a tour of the new environment. She saw many brick buildings, lampposts, and barb wire fences. Man, Dash began to think, this school sure do likes to keep it old school. She went back to the huge building with the clock, which now read 6:15. Maybe this is the main office. Dash philosophized. She came in front of a window. The room, however, was empty. A name plaque on the desk was visible by the floor length lamp that was lit in a corner of the room. COLONEL COCHRAN, HEADMASTER Hmm... I wonder where Colonel Cochran is? Maybe he can tell me how I can get home. She continued to look through Cochran’s office. Next to his computer, Dash spotted his calendar. Whew! At least I get to know what day it is. She peered hard into the window. The calendar read that the day was August 30th, 1998. Dash gasped. How in the name of Celestia did I get from March 2012 all the way back to August 1998?! So now, not only have I been teleported into another dimension, but also I traveled BACK IN TIME! I’m dreaming this. There’s no way I could’ve possibly traveled back in time. JUST NO WAY! Dash descended back onto the ground, sitting on the gravel that surrounded the office. By now, Dash was choking back tears. She was quickly getting homesick. Was this her punishment for whatever she did? Was she stuck here forever after trying to pull a stupid stunt and dying in the process? Was she dreaming the whole thing? Was the rainbow pegasus really in her cloud house, sleeping through this terrible nightmare? Dash began to sob quietly. “I just wanna go home,” she sobbed loudly, not caring who would hear her, “I don’t where I am or what I’m doing here, I JUST WANNA GO HOME!” “Well, you’re not the only one that’s stuck.” exclaimed a voice. > Chapter Five > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dash looked up and quickly cleaned her eyes from the tears that were on the brink of readiness to fall. She then tilted her head in confusion by what she saw. The voice came from a short man. Very short. By the time Rainbow Dash sat up completely, her eyes met his perfectly. The cyan pegasus knew that he wasn’t a normal human like she saw in one of Twilight’s books. If anything, he looked like a... toy. A doll, to be exact. A talking doll. Though, he didn’t have a sting you can pull to make him talk. There wasn’t a special button you can press to make him talk, either. He just started talking. Dash stared at him for a little bit, confused. “What? You’ve never seen a supernaturally possessed doll before?” The doll inquired. Dash just simply shook her head; rather it was to say no or to shake out her hallucination, she didn’t know. Finally, Dash asked, “Where am I?” “You know, I’m wondering the same thing. I think we’re still in Chicago. I doubt it, though.” Dash kept looking at the plastic man, still confused. “Where?” “Chicago. You know, “The Windy City?” “Beef Capital of the World?” “Home of the Chicago Cubs?”” Dash only shrugged. “Man, you horses really are stupid.” “Hey!” Dash angrily stood up and came towards the toy, “Number one, I’m not a horse. I’m a pegasus!” That’s when she showed off her blue wings, dirty and slightly bruised from the crash. The doll just nodded, trying to look impressed. “And number two,” Dash began again, “I’m not stupid! I just slacked a little too much while I was school, that’s all.” She was staring the guy down now, looking as angry as she would if a bully in Cloudsdale was picking on Fluttershy. “Okay! Okay! I get it!” The living toy finally gave in, “I just saw the lightning crashing and went to see just what the fuck was happening! Jesus Christ!” He crossed his arms angrily. “Well I’m trying to find out how I got here and how to get back!” Dash continued to stare him down. She wasn’t as good as Fluttershy’s staredown, but she thought she was good enough. “Well, where did you come from?” “Ponyville.” “What?” “Ponyville. You know, Sugarcube Corner? Sweet Apple Acres? Everfree Forest?” The doll just looked at her weird, like she did when he was describing her about Chicago. Suddenly, he just starting laughing. He laughed for a while. He was doubling over and holding his sides he was laughing so hard and for so long. Finally, when he was able to breathe again, Dash just gave an agitated look. “What?” “I know what you are now!” The doll started to say, “You’re one of those little figures for girls! What do they call you guys? Now now now, don’t tell me! Don’t tell me! Uh... Shit! What are you? It’s right on the tip of my tongue!” Dash had no idea what he was talking about? Was she popular in this dimension like she is back in Ponyville? “Oh yeah! My Little Ponies! You guys are My Little Ponies! Which one are you?” the doll said at last. Dash looked at him all weird. You guys? So her and everypony back home was popular here? “Um... I’m Rainbow Dash?” She awkwardly introduced herself. “Rainbow Dash?” the doll questioned as he shook her hoof. “Huh, never heard of a “Rainbow Dash” before. My little niece is into all of that. I used to get her My Little Ponies all the time.” Dash was really confused at this point. What’s a My Little Pony? What’s a Chicago? Who am I talking to? “So... Who are you?” Dash finally asked the doll. “Name’s Chucky, the most notorious killer in all of Lakeshore!” He smiled as he continued to shake the cyan pony’s hoof. Grrrrrrrrrrrrummmmmm Chucky held his stomach, “Man! I’m starving! How ‘bout you? You hungry?” rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggg, Dash’s stomach responded. She had to admit, she was hungry. She nodded. “Come on, let’s go raid the mess hall.” > Chapter Six > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It didn’t take the duo long to find the mess hall. It was only a few yards from the office. It took them a little bit to unlock the back door that led to the kitchen, but thanks to Applejack’s lessons on applebucking, Dash was able to buck the door down in ten seconds flat. Once inside, Dash flew up to the lightswitch and flicked it on. A bright, white light that was above the center of the room’s island came to life. Stainless steel cabinets and drawers took in all the light they could muster. The tiled floor was just as white as the light as well as the tiled ceiling. “Now then,” Chucky began, “what to eat? Hey Rainbow Dash, wanna give me a lift?” Dash let the doll onto her back and flew around the kitchen as Chucky opened, rummaged, and finally closed all the cabinets. All he found was a value size bag of Fritos and a loaf of rye bread. “Alright, let’s look in the fridge.” Found a bag of Swiss cheese, a sandwich bag of corned beef, a container of sauerkraut, a bottle of thousand island dressing, butter, and a brick of cream cheese. Chucky made a reuben. Dash, on the other hand, didn’t have much luck. All she found was a bag of apples, which half of them turned out to be rotten. About five minutes later, the duo was sitting on the island, eating their findings and creations. Dash carefully picked through the rotten apples, only finding one good one out of what she could find. Chucky had a rare moment where he actually gave a buck about anything. He somewhat pitied Dash when she only had apples to eat and he pretty much had lunch in front of him. He knew how much her stomach growled. She must be starving. “Hey, uh, Rainbow Dash,” Chucky started, “I... If you want, you can have some corn chips.” Dash witnessed as the doll found a bowl and poured some Fritos into it. “What are corn chips?” she asked. “Chips made out of corn and salt. You’ll like ‘em. If I’m right, horses- I mean pegasususususus would like to eat corn.” Dash thought about it for a second. She did like things made from corn, but she never tried corn chips. Why not? she thought. Anything’s better than rotten apples. “Sure.” Dash finally said as Chucky slid the bowl across the island to the rainbow pony. She picked up one and tried it; she found it quite enjoyable and continued to eat the rest. She shoved the bag of apples out of the way. They ate in silence for a little while. Finally, Chucky decided to start a conversation. “So, Rainbow Dash, are you a toy, too or...” Dash looked at him weird, “What?” “I mean did you escape from a toy store?” “No.” “I didn’t think so. You look too cartoony.” “Huh?” “Nevermind, how the hell did you get here?” “I tried to do a Sonic Rainboom and I failed.” “The fuck is a “Sonic Rainboom?”” “It’s when I fly so fast, I make a rainbow trail.” “So what? Do you shit it out or somethin’?” “What?” (You gotta remember, Rainbow Dash is new with curse words) “...Nevermind.” Suddenly, pesssh. Bop Bop Bop Bop Footsteps were heard from indoors. They were about to enter through the side door, not realizing that the back door was torn down. “Shit!” Chucky muttered under his breath, “Dash, hide!” Dash’s ears perked up. “Where?” “I dunno. Anywhere!” She looked around and saw an open cabinet near the sink. With an “Aha!,” she flew in and hid there while Chucky pulled out a knife from a drawer under the island countertop. “What are you doing?” Dash inquired. “Tryin’ to keep us outta trouble.” was the doll’s only answer. bop bop bop bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop Bop BOP BOP BOP BOP BOP BOP BOP! Cerk! Eeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr bop bop Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeee debunk! … AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! THRAW! CHINK! RAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! -GASP- AHHHHHHH!!!!!! FERAMMP! RRRROMP! CURR CURR RAP! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! AH! THRAW! -GAAAAAAASPPPP- … … … rrrrrrr “Ch- Chucky? Are you OK?” Dash stuck her head out of her cabinet. Chucky turned and stared at her with a very slight bewilderment. Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, Dash saw a thin stream of vibrant deep red. She then fully came out of her hiding place and came around island and saw the source of the red stream. It was blood coming out of Chucky’s latest victim, a plus size woman with a big wart on the corner of her nose. She was dressed in a purple fuzzy robe. Underneath, was a polyester pink nightgown, both now have splatters of red. Her hair was in curlers with a sky blue sleep mask above her forehead. Two knife handles stuck out of her right shoulder and heart area like sore thumbs. Dash looked at her in wonder as the warm red stream continued to sputter out of her body and flowed down to the floor to around her hooves. A hush fell over the mess hall kitchen for a while. “Dash, let’s go.” Chucky said at last. “Where?” Dash asked. “Away from here. Lemme ride on your back.” With slight hesitation, Dash levitated from the floor to the island. Chucky then climb on and they flew away from the mess hall, leaving their snacks behind.. > Chapter Seven > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The stars began to sprout out of the sky as Rainbow Dash and Chucky flew over Kent’s campus. They passed the big clock, which now read 7:30. “Dash,” Chucky started to explain, pointing to the right, “I need you to take me to the woods that way. I’m supposed to meet someone there.” “You got it!” was Dash’s only response. With a quick jerk to the right and about thirty more seconds of flight, Dash’s cyan hooves landed on the forest floor. She allowed her plastic acquaintance to dismount before asking, “What was that over in the mess hall?” “What do you mean?” “I mean that lady you threw the knives at. What was that for?” Chucky knew exactly what she was talking about, but for some odd reason, he did want to tell her that he was actually a human trapped in a doll’s body. He knew that he would have to tell her is life story, practically. After a moment, he only answered with a “Lemme put it to you this way, Dash. If my life were a movie, it would take a good two or three sequels to cover it justice.” Dash didn’t quite understand, but she went ahead and said “Oh” anyway. “Now, back to the goal at hand.” Chucky was talking to himself now, “Question is, where the hell is he?” “You mean him?” Dash pointed with her hoof as she saw a young black kid running towards that mouth of the woods. “Yes!” Chucky said frantically, “Quick, Dash! You gotta hide!” “Again? Where?” “Again, Anywhere!” Rainbow Dash looked around the new environment, and found some large boulders to hide behind. The child was now in his designated meeting place. Dash was able to peer out of the rocks for a slight minute to study this new creature. All she could get in the moonlight was his name tag, though. it read Tyler Tyler, Dash thought, is that is name? His real name? I wonder what his special talent is. How come he’s only a huge version of Chucky? Kinda think of it, he doesn’t even look all shiny like Chucky does. He looks so different from him. I wonder why. He looks like one of those things I saw in one of Twilight’s books once. Though I forgot what they’re called. C’mon, Dash, think! Think, think, think. Her thoughts were interrupted, though, when Chucky screamed “GET BACK HERE!” while holding a knife handle that stuck out of his abdomen. Tyler was gone. Dash watched as she saw the boy run away from the woods and back towards campus. She then leaped to Chucky. “Are you OK?” “Yeah yeah. I’m fine. Just can’t help but wonder why this shit always happen to me.” He then pulled the knife out of his gut, losing some blood. He remained quiet and thought for a moment. Rainbow Dash thought it was the perfect time to say something, but by the time she finally opened her mouth, she was interrupted again by Chucky. “Dash,” he began, “Do me a favor. Stay here. Do not leave these woods! Understand? I have some work to do.” Dash nodded. Then, Chucky began to walk out of her sight. The rainbow pegasus couldn’t help but watch him go. Where is he going? Is he going to come back? What’s he going to do? After about three minutes, Chucky was out of Rainbow’s line of vision. She then looked up and saw a very tall tree. Hmm... Dash began to think, Maybe if I sit there, I might see what’s going on. Maybe I’ll find a clue as to how to get home, too! And why not? Besides, I’m not leaving the woods. Thinking this, she flew up to the highest branch of the tree and took a seat on it. It wasn’t as comfortable as a cloud would, but it’ll have to do. Suddenly, Dash was startled to hear the big clock in the middle of campus. It struck eight. It was the only thing making noise as a dead silence fell over the property. It reminded her so much as the battle between the cowponies and the buffalo at Appleloosa. However, Dash had a feeling that what was about to happen was going to be much more intense than Appleloosa. The bell rang seven more times. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One... > Chapter Eight > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! A shmorgishborg of gunfire erupted from Kent campus. Dash witnessed the madness in shock as, one after one, students fell down to the ground, blood streaming through them. “Mother of Celestia!” Dash screamed to herself, “What if Chucky’s in there?! I have to go find him! Leaving these woods or not!” Dash flew out of her branch and above the crossfire, hoping not to get shot. Everyone was so caught up in the military simulation, they didn’t see nor hear Dash as she looked for her new friend. “CHUCKY!” She screamed as loud as she could over the noise, but with no luck. “Chucky! CHUCKY!” She shouted and searched with a bird’s eye view. Finally, after about five minutes of searching, she heard a gruff “Sinora, suckers!” from a familiar voice. Suddenly, a dark green, gridded thing that looked like a lemon (that’s how Dash describes a hand grenade) was thrown into the sky. Dash watched in horror as a teenage boy leapt into the air to catch it, only to have himself blown up by the “lemon.” Everyone screamed. But almost suddenly, she studied the Tyler kid from earlier, Chucky, and another teenage boy and a teenage girl running away from one another. Now who are they? Rainbow Dash wondered, looking at the young couple, and what does he want from them? Minutes felt like hours as Dash flew above and behind Chucky, hoping he won’t catch her. Finally, they were out of Kent campus and into a carnival just down the road. Dash had no choice but to sit on a cloud and watch in anticipation and horror. It wasn’t like there was much she could do to help. She wanted to do what she can to make sure that Chucky didn’t catch her out of the woods some quarter of a mile away. However, Dash wasn’t at all suspecting all of the events to unfold. Tyler, who led the chase the entire time, was the first one into the carnival. He ran and found a guard there, only to find out that he was killed by Chucky just seconds before Tyler arrived (so Chucky actually came in first). The doll then took the boy hostage. The teenage couple came in last, so Chucky shot the girl. Rainbow Dash leaned over the cloud with her eyes fixated as the young man prepares to fight the pegasus’ friend. This was the point in which Dash covered her eyes with her hooves. She’s tough, but not this tough. She’s already seen enough tonight. “Oh, Celestia. I don’t think I can take this much longer!” she yelled to herself. Her eyes remained covered through some weird chant interrupted by some gunfire. Checking to make sure that it wasn’t Chucky that got shot (which it was), Dash uncovered her eyes, only to find herself watching his face get chopped almost in half by a fake Grim Reaper’s scythe. “CHUCKY!” Dash screamed and flew away from the cloud and was hovering around the sky in fear as she witnessed Chucky going after the young man on top of a pile of rubbish. After mere seconds of struggle, Chucky’s arm was cut right off the bone; he began to fall. “CHUCKY, WATCH OUT!” Dash began to shout as the doll came tumbling down to a huge fan in the ground. “CHUCKY! NOOO!” BZZZ ZZ ZZZ ZAP! Yet another sheet of pure white blinded Rainbow Dash as she cried. > Chapter Nine/Author's Notes > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- White turned into pinkish-yellow in front of Dash’s closed eyelids. After a few nano seconds, her eyes darted open. Sky blue and snow white walls surrounded her. She felt what she was lying on, a round cloud soft bed, topped with a warm furry cyan blanket. Rainbow Dash was in her own bed, in her bedroom. She was home. She was finally home. “Was that all a... dream?” Dash asked herself. She then sat up and looked at the floor next to her bed. Tank was still fast asleep on his pet bed. That tortoise could sleep World War III, if you let him. Whew! “I’m just so glad that’s over with!” Dash told herself with a hoof to her head, “No more midnight snacks for me.” She sighed, but gasped in fright at what was on her self in front of her bed. There were two dolls that were never there before. One of them had neat and tidy red hair, parted to his right side. A pair of ice blue eyes and red freckles accented his face in an almost creepy way. He had on a rainbow striped shirt and blue overalls. In red, vinyl letters, “Good Guys” was printed on the overalls’ chest. Red and white sneakers finished off his look. He seemed rather familiar to Dash. The other doll looked exactly like his twin on the left; However, he had a rather gruesome makeover. Scars, stitches, and staples covered his entire body. About half of his hair was removed from his head and was slicked back. Rainbow carefully got out of bed and walked closer to the shelf, studying the dolls with extreme curiosity. “Chucky?” She asked, expecting a response. She first poked the clean one on the left. Nothing. The one on the right, perhaps? Nothing. Convinced that they were just normal dolls, the cyan pegasus unleashed a sigh of relief. In between the Chucky dolls was a white box. Dash opened it. Another box was inside it. It was sky blue, white, and green, supposed to look like some outdoor scene. A bright rainbow supported by two clouds polluted the top of the box. But it was the lettering in the rainbow that mystified Dash. In big, white letters, the rainbow read My Little Pony. Dash couldn’t help but remember what Chucky said when they first met in the dream. “Oh yeah! My Little Ponies! You guys are My Little Ponies! Which one are you?” That quote looped in Rainbow Dash’s mind as she opened the box and pulled out the toy inside. She was a pink pegasus with a sky blue mane and tail. Her cutie mark was two blue lightning bolts. Her pose was as if she was getting ready to take flight. Dash studied her for a long while, taking an admiration to the figurine. She then looked at the box for her name: Firefly. Dash then looked into the white box again and found a small envelope. She took it out of the box and opened it, only to find a note. It read: Rainbow Dash, What did I tell you about leaving that damn forest?! Anyway, I’m happy you were there for the last hour of my life. As a token of my gratitude, I’m giving you an actual “My Little Pony” toy. It was originally going to be a present for my niece’s birthday, but I think I already gave her Firefly a couple years ago. Oh, and one more thing, don’t worry about me being dead, I’ll be back. I ALWAYS come back. -Charles Lee “Chucky” Ray P.S. You owe me a bag of corn chips. Dash read the note over and over again until she could possibly know it by heart. “So,” she began to think out loud again, looking out her bedroom window, “was it a dream?” The End.
