The First Step Can Come In Yellow and Blue
Fluttershy couldn't believe it, It can't be no it couldn't be true! She wanted to scold Rainbow dash for making up such horrible jokes, or yell at her for lying but all she could do was stare.
As much as Fluttershy wanted to believe that Rainbow dash was making some kind of sick joke, she knew though Rainbow Dash was a joker there were certain lines even she would never cross and Pinkie Pie's death was definitely one of them.
"W-What W-why?!" Fluttershy asked Tears starting to line her eyes as what Rainbow dash had said repeated itself over and over in her head.
"They said...They Hit a brick wall....It's been almost two years since- " Rainbow dash stopped and seemed to choke on her words as she got to the end of her sentence.
Fluttershy put a comforting hoof on her friends shoulder urging her to go on, though Fluttershy herself was far from being comforted it seemed to be what her friend needed in that moment. Rainbow Dash smiled a weak smile at Fluttershy letting her know she was alright before going on.
"Since Pinkie pie's....sudden demise." She said her voice with each word becoming harder and harder to hear." And they haven't gotten a tip in over a year and a half so...." Rainbow Dash stopped short burying her face in her hoofs with sob so loud and hard it made the her body shake.
Fluttershy stared at her friend the only comfort she could provide was rubbing her hoof up and down Rainbow Dash's back like Fluttershy's mother use to do when she was a Filly, and though she wanted to she couldn't tell her friend everything was alright or it was going to be okay because she couldn't trust her voice at that moment. She was scared when she went to open her mouth the words would come out shaky and broken and it would just make everything worse.
Rainbow dash had always been strong for Fluttershy even in the worst of times, Like the day Rainbow had broken her hoof trying to save Fluttershy because she had thought she heard an injured bird in the evergreen forest and rushed in to help only to find it being feasted upon by some hungry timber wolves, Or the time when those pony's had been picking on her and Pinkie Pie for being blank flanks and Rainbow Dash had Rushed to help them. Even though she was outmatched and they ended up putting her in the hospital she had always kept that brave face on for them, because she had taken the responsibility to be both her's and Pinkie Pies protector no matter what the cost, and it wasn't even until Pinkie pies death had Fluttershy ever see her friends brave face disappear and for the first time in her life saw her friend cry.
Fluttershy had to be brave for her Rainbow, as Rainbow had done many times before for her, and so she sat there rubbing Rainbow dash's back waiting for her sobs to fade away. The sobbing went on for a while but after a little bit Rainbow Dash's sobs turned into nothing but quiet whimpering.
"A-are you alright now Rainbow Dash?," Fluttershy whispered to the blue Pegasus.
Rainbow Dash Took a deep breath and laid back against the cab putting her hoofs to her sides. "Since when did I become such a cry filly?," She asked with a light and joking tone and a weak grin.
Fluttershy tried to smile but it she couldn't get her mouth to lift up so instead she looked out the window not wanting Rainbow dash to see her expression. It was dark out as Celestia sun had long since but disappeared under the horizon but Fluttershy could still make out some familiar houses as they approached Ponyville.
" I've....I've thought about Solving the case you know....by myself," Rainbow Dash said as she stared out the window.
Fluttershy eye's shot open in surprise but she said nothing keeping her face pointed towards the cab window.
"But then I think Rainbow Dash your just a silly Pegasus....who couldn't even keep one of her best friends from dying How can YOU do anything," She said.
Fluttershy turned around quickly and was about to protest when she was interrupted by the cab driver.
"Hey sorry about interrupting you two's conversation but where here."
"O-oh thank you," she said and reached in her purse garbing some bits and paying the driver before turning back to Rainbow Dash who was already in the process of getting out of the cab.
Fluttershy quickly opened the door nearly jumping out, the cold air from before nearly knocking her off her hoofs before regaining her balance and walking to the other side of the cab where Rainbow dash was sitting and waiting.
"Rainbow Dash," she called quietly walking next to the Pegasus who stayed still.
"R-Rainbow you really shouldn't talk about your self like t-." She stared but was again soon interrupted.
"Don't worry about it Fluttershy It was just a stupid Idea the guards have already told me it's a lost cause i guess Its...It's time we move on anyway." she said with a shaky breath not looking Fluttershy in the eye before she took off into the sky.
"Rainbow Dash!" She tired to yell watching the Pegasus fly off into the air and not looking back.
Fluttershy wanted to fly after her and scold her for talking about herself so negatively but she knew it wouldn't have helped much at this moment, because right now all that was on Rainbow Dash's mind was Pinkie Pie.
Fluttershy Sighed and slowly started making the way to her cottage near the evergreen, Her thought where filled with so many questions she felt her head might explode to try and make more room for them all.
The cold air made Fluttershy shiver.
"Oh dear, the weather Pegasus never mentioned anything about the weather getting this cold I wonder whats going on," she whispered as she neared her cottage, not knowing an Alicorn her coat as dark as the night sky, her mane shimmering like a thousand stars and flowing freely was watching Fluttershy from a far with a grin on her face.
"Maybe, the Alicorn muttered, "Just maybe," she whispered and with a blink of an eye she was gone.
