A day like no other
"No....no.....not again.....please.....plea-"
Celestia wakes up in her bed gasping for breath. "Sister!!!" She heard as Celestia spins her head around just to see and hear the door to her rooms being thrown open as her sister Luna runs in.
"Are you all right?"
Celestia tries to catch her breath. "*pant*....*pant*...Yes...Luna...." Her eyes drift towards the window looking at the night sky. "But I fear.... that an old friend is going to come back and..."
Celestia words start to mumble as she did not wish to talk about this with her sister. "Don't worry, I saw everything as soon as the dream...I mean nightmare started. I felt a strong..." Luna stopped knowing Celestia knew what she had to say.
"So....it's really happening and can we......manage....this time?" A tear started to roll down Luna face. Celestia seeing this pulled her sister in for a hug. Feeling the tears roll down her fur.
"I don't know but lets us hope for the best." As she then lifts Luna head with her hoof gently and smiles. Luna couldn't help but smile back as her sister as it felt like the warm rays of the sun on anypony face. "Indeed." Luna replied.
A thought suddenly went to Celestia head, as she tried to think of a way to lighten up the mood. "What where you doing in my dream?" she asked Luna, tilting her head slightly.
Luna suddenly starts to blush a feint pink on her cheeks.
"And this statue represents the Summer Sun celebration and it’s" While talking Twilight points at a statue of Celestia. She was raising her hoofs in the air as a stone sun was placed peaking over her head.
"*Yawn* How many more statues after this one?" asked Scootaloo after rubbing her eyes.
"Scootaloo, what a mean thing to say!" Applebloom replied with a higher tone.
Scootaloo looks back in confusion then thought about what she had said. "Oh...sorry. I mean it's nice of Twilight to take the class for a trip in Canterlot gardens and all but where are all the cool ones?" Scootaloo proceeded to think hard.
"How about we ask?" Sweetie Belle suggest after a while to break the silence. Before Applebloom could stop her. "Hey Twilight where are the villain's statue's?" Sweetie Bells asks. As soon as she mention it the rest of the Fillies start to mummer about what has just been said.
Twilight was hoping to keep this a secret but she might as well tell them. After a sigh, "Well I was going to keep this a surprise..." Twilight slowly says as she sees the eyes of the Fillies growing. "But after being in the Star Swirl the bearded section in the Canterlot library. I found a book in the far back talking about the statues in Canterlot garden. There was said to be a statue containing a feared pony that was trapped before his full power was unleash across Equestria. He was said to a friend of Celestia and Luna until it all changed one day."
As Twilight leans in on the groups faces. They listen very carefully waiting for the next set of words to leave her mouth.
"Boom!" Twilight cried out loud seeing all the Fillies jump in fear.
"HE'S BACK!!!" one cried out as the Fillies run around screaming for their lives.
Twilight giggled a bit but manages to stop herself. Her horn suddenly glows purple as each Fillie is lifted up into air and back toward Twilight. She rests them down on the ground near her. "Now clam down. As there is good news that you forgotten about. Which is he is trapped in stone. Remember?" She asks, seeing their face calm down a bit.
"But Twilight..." Twilight turns her head around to see Applebloom talking.
"Yes Applebloom?" Tilting her head in response as she was curios on what question she had.
"I have 2 questions. One is that what happen if he breaks out like Discord did?"
Twilight had to think about this for a while before a smile goes across her face. "Well with the power of the Elements combined with Celestia and Luna we will be sure to stop him."
The group of Fillies worries start to fade as they thought about it. I mean if we had the power to beat Discord and Chrysalis then surly we can beat any pony. The thought ran though the minds of the Fillies. "And the second question Applebloom?"
Twilight asks as she snaps Applebloom out of her thinking. "Oh yeah...um.....oh. What is the name of this pony?" Applebloom replied with a smile as to remembering her question.
On the other hand Twilight smile faded as she did not know the answer. "Um...well you see his name was missing." Twilight says as her voice gets quieter.
"Missing?" The Fillies replied as to curios by what she had meant.
"Well his name was not in the book and when I went looking for it I found no luck."
The Fillies cried out an "Aw."
"But I manage to find out where he is and we are close by!" The faces of the Fillies suddenly start to brighten up.
She leads the Fillies to a wall after a short walk. Looking back Twilight could the faces on the Fillies face as they look in confusion back at her. She then picks up a stone and tosses it into the wall to only have it pass through. The Fillies faces turn to... beyond happy and started to run in. Twilight watches each Fillie go through with a smile on her face. She knew not why it was hidden but couldn't help herself. She felt that she helped the education of Equestria grow.
Suddenly she hers an "Aw." This leads her to go through. Her face then turns to a confused look as she sees the pathway leading up to the statue. But where is the statue?
Suddenly Twilight hears Flapping of wings coming closer and before she could turn around she heared it stop. Hear face dropped when she saw two royal guards standing right before her. They did not look happy.
"What about we try to increa-" Celestia stop speaking as the huge golden doors opened before her. She saw as a royal guard entered with Twilight following behind with her head hung low. Celestia then let a sign of dismissal to her guest, as they replied with a nod and walk out of the room.
The guard went up to Celestia as he whispered into her ear. Her face dropped but then turned to a smile. She then dismisses the guard and then went towards Twilight.
"Celestia I'm sorry!" Twilight says as her eyes start to wobble "I...I...shouldn't have taken them there but I couldn't help myself after thinking about teaching Fillies of Ponyville. I...I..." she starts to mumble after seeing a smile on Celestia face.
"It's ok Twilight." Celestia replied. "I know how you can get carried away. I just hope you learned your lesson." As she starts to head back to her throne. "Now, what were you looking for in a hidden room?"
"Well you see I don't know his name but..."
"His?" Celestia replies to Twilight statement.
"Yes....you see I wanted to teach about a villain of Equestria that was long forgotten, after reading it in a library in Star Swirl the bearded section. But he's name was not in the book but his location was. But after going there with the Fillies...he wasn't there." Twilight went quite to think until suddenly "Wait does this mean he has escape! Is he planning to attack again! I should run and get my friends don't worry Cel-"
"Twilight" Celestia says getting Twilight attention, while using her magic to teleport a book in front of Twilight. "First look in this book which contain all know Villains of Equestria. Then we shall double check before we take action." Twilight nodded as she then opens the book in the air with her magic flipping through pages until...
"AH HA!!!" Twilight says after she had realized she had said it out loud. "Sorry but here he is..."
Twilight says looking deep in the book. "There is not much info on him as the page is almost torn out but his name is. He is called. Ker...beros?" Twilight looks up to notice Celestia eyes starting to fill with tears, as a horrid look appeared on her face. "Cel-" Twilight tries to talk but cannot as she has never seen Celestia sad before. Twilight after a while of thinking, started to back out of the room to give her some time as she had now had her head in her hooves.
The smell of cake filled the room in Sugar Cube Corner. Pinkie Pie was just taking a tray out of the oven and was about to place them on the table, before suddenly. She was shuttering up and down causing her to drop the tray. After stopping Pinkie Pie eyes went huge after the experience. "What was that about? It was much stronger than before." she stares out the window. "Is a new friend coming?"
As time passed in Canterlot, Twilight watch as small smoke flies into the sunset. After a while she saw Luna Flying straight into the window in the throne room. She presses her ear against the door.
"How....and...now? I taught we had time still but..." As she heard Luna speaks.
"Don't worry we can manage this time but we need to tell them."
“Indeed."
Twilight wasn't sure to who had said what at that point but she heard hooves making their way over. Twilight quickly back away in time as the door open.
Celestia and Luna looked at Twilight who was in a corner waving at them with a blushed face. "Twilight." Twilight heard as she notices Celestia speaking. "Send a letter to your friends, telling them to come to Canterlot, straight away."
"HEY TWILIGHT!!!"
Twilight fell back in the chair she had fallen asleep on while giving a small squeak. Rubbing her eyes she first looks out the window. "It's so late." She thought to herself. She then proceeded to look at what had awakened her. She saw as a pink pony with curly pink mane was jumping up and down in front of her. She saw four other ponies behind her with each a different looks on their faces.
"Pinkie that was not nice." She heard Rarity say as she then went and started to dust Twilight off, after picking her up.
"But!" Pinkie was trying to respond but stopped after seeing Celestia and Luna come in the room.
"I'm glad to see you are all here." Celestia said. "I hope you’re all ready as I must tell you a tale."
Taking a huge breath she then began to say "A few nights of go I had what I first thought was a nightmare but instead was a vision."
"A vision?" Rarity said after calming Pinkie down.
"Yes a vision. However this was not a vision that I would like to have."
"How come?" a winged, blue horse knows as Rainbow Dash asks.
"In this vision our location in Ponyville. However it is not the Ponyville we all love, instead broken houses on fire seemed to be everywhere, while ponies ran in fear screaming for their lives. I laid in shock, watching as I could not move. As I finally saw...him."
"In the middle of Ponyville, smiling at me as tears run down my face. He's gaze still making me shudder. He then started to walk forward to me. I tried my best to move but to no success, I watch as he got close until he was in my face. I cried out for him to stop but he just lit his horn and touches my own. Suddenly all went black as I heard Luna scream leading me to wake up."
Celestia took a moment to let the ponies get all this information in their heads. She notices how Twilight, Rarity and Applejack were in deep thought. Rainbow Dash just stood flying there. Fluttershy was hidden behind Pinkie Pie weeping quietly, while Pinkie Pie sat with popcorn in her hooves.
"Add...?" Pinkie asks making Celestia raise an eyebrow.
"Pinkie!" Twilight was as fast as a bullet in her response.
"No she is right. I have more to tell. The reason we are so gripped with Kerberos is he was once...a friend.....a very close friend." Celestia tries to talk but fines her throat getting dry.
"Allow me sister." Luna said as she notice Celestia struggle to which she nods. "Long ago..." Luna began.
While we were the holders of the element of Harmony. We have beaten Discord for the first time about a week ago, where the Summer Sun celebration was about half way through. I have needed a break from one of the biggest celebration so I went to a hill near an Everfree forest. That is where is saw a little black Fillie with a mane of red. I thought to myself why not and went too sat down next to him. I was also wondering why he was there and not at the celebration. He didn't move when I sat next to him. Instead he smiled at me then just went back to looking at the sunrise.
He then says "Luna." Which shocked me at first as no one but my sister called me without my title. I notice how at the current age he was. He had not his Cutie mark. I had then asked him to why he was here and not at the celebration.
He replied with while looking at the sun. "I'm enjoying enough chaos for now but I will head back later."
"However I'm also here too..." I notice the Fillie started to cry, I then pulled him in with my wing to hug him. I notice right away how soft his fur was as he had accepted my hug. His fur... softer then a cloud..." Luna started to drift off as a tear rolled down her face but with Celestia help she was able to get back on track.
"Ah yes...sorry about that." She looked at the ponies that were all listening very well. "Well...ah yes...again....sorry..." Luna started to blush.
Well I have founded out that Discord had taken away everything he loved. I felt myself started to tear up as I knew this feeling to almost losing my sister. I manage to hold it back. I suggested that I would want to help in any way I could. This is because when I looked at the Fillie I saw myself. But to my surprise, he left my hug and stood up. He thanks me for the offer but refused. I understood why but I said that I would not leave until I could help him. He thought about this but then a smile came across his face.
"Well I guess you can help me become better at magic. I love it." I had smile in response and agreed. We then agreed that I Luna would teach him and help him improve his magic.
"So like me?" Twilight asked.
"Yes" Luna responded
I offered to walk him but to my surprise again he refused. Instead he took a few steps away then looked back at me. "My name is Kerberos, see you at Canterlot garden tomorrow."
I smiled which soon turn to shock as his horn had glowed red and in a few second was gone. He knew a teleportation spell? The thought came across my mind. He still had many secrets to hide I thought as I made my way back to the celebration.
Luna continued to talk.
Overtime he would come by and I would teach him after asking Celestia who was quick to agree. She seems to like the idea of me teaching a Fillie and having a new hobby. I never really pushed Kerberos, not to make him change his mind as I felt our friendship growing each day and I didn't want to lose him. Until one day.
Luna after taking a breath went on.
I was flying over Ponyville to look for the Fillie as he had not come to our latest meeting. First thing to think was he's a Fillie. He is properly spending time with friends. But over the past few lessons he hadn't been himself and he would not tell me why. So I thought to check on him. That is when I notice a Chant going on nearby. I was curious to see what it was.
I landed on a tree nearby and watch as a group of ponies near a school were in a circle around one pony. Later on I notice that the pony in the middle was Kerberos. Is this a game I thought or is he sharing some big news? I thought to myself. By to my horror I start to hear what sounded like Bullying. I thought it couldn't be but to my question an answer came as I saw the black Fillie crying. I was about to fly towards the group after seeing a gimp of this to put an end to it.
Suddenly the air got thick making it hard to breathe and I saw as animals start to run away. I looked back at the black Fillie and saw his horn glowing red. I feared for what may happen and as I just left the tree to fly over. I saw as Kerberos let out a cry of anger and...Saw as how he let out a magic pulse fly outwards from his horn. It pushed back everything in its way with brute force until...
I woke up, my head hurting. I look around as I seem to have landed on a bush but after it seems to have been hit by a tree. As I saw a mark on thy tree I spoke of. I suddenly remembered about Kerberos. I look back at the school in shock as it was no more. I see near by the Fillies from before being calmed down by a teacher. I saw Kerberos was nowhere to be seen.
Ever since that day I hadn't seen him for a more than a couple of months. One night I was crying in my bed quietly, not to wake up my sister. As I had feared for Kerberos and what had come to him. I couldn't help myself to stop crying as the good memories were too strong.
Until...
I felt a hoof touch my fur. I expected it to be my sister. But I didn't care and hugged whoever the pony could be without a look. Then I open my eyes after feeling a similar feeling before. The pony felt so soft. I let go to look at the pony face to see a Fillie looking back at me with his red eyes. My eyes growing huge as I saw in front of me was no other than Kerberos. In faster than a heart beat I hugged the Fillie, gripping as hard as I could. As he hugged me back. I cried out. "Kerberos your back!!! What happened?" After a while I said. "Please don't ever leave me alone." My tears were running down his back.
I heard in reply "I would never." This almost made my heart explode out of my chest. Later on I saw Celestia with her tried eyes, entering the room. She must of herd the commotion. She smiled as she saw what was in front of her for a while until she then joined in the hug. We stayed like that for a while.
Luna seems to have more to say but Celestia stop her sister seeing that see was tried. Luna nodded as she knew what she was asking.
Celestia began to spoke.
After a couple of years life was perfect. Luna was happy, I was happy and Kerberos was happy with his strength in magic growing. Until...the one year it changed. We had come back to Canterlot after the battle vs King Sombra and the lost of the Crystal Empire. We had just landed in the Canterlot gardens too tired to go on. We were ready to fall asleep there and then but out of nowhere.
"BOOM!"
We saw an explosion at the side of the castle. A royal guard came running towards us until he was close enough. "My queens it’s Kerberos!!!" He cried. We heard him and within a minute we were flying towards the burning hole. We cried for his name and as all was lost. We saw a red tail running out the door. We followed him to the throne room to where we heard a cry as we went in. Our hearts fell.
"Kerberos?" we asked and as he turns, we knew it was true. Around his red pupil was green instead of white while wavy purple energy began flowing from his eyes.
"DON'T COME NEAR ME!!!" We heard him cry but we still moved as one coming closer. "DON'T I'M A MONSTER!!!" We were now sitting by the pony and as we hugged him he looked up at us and slowly all the troubles went away.
After a while we explained what happen to Kerberos and how dark magic worked. We asked how it happened and he explained how he was giving a book by somepony but before he could go on he fainted.
We tried our best to fix him but we knew once one uses dark magic it sticks with you. No matter what.
We manage for a few months. We manage to keep him from using Dark magic. But we knew what was coming.
The day had finally come.
We heard in horror as a guard told us the news. "Guards are trying to fight of the villain in Ponyvillie but are being swept out of the way!" The guard stood still saluting while speaking.
"We will be on our way. What is the damage report and where is he/she heading?" Luna asked the guard.
"The target is heading towards Canterlot...and...."
"And?" Luna asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Ponyvillie is almost destroyed." Celestia and Luna both freeze for a while then proceeded to walk.
We didn't know who it was but we didn't take a risk and took the Elements with us. We...didn't expect what came next."
We arrived in Ponyvillie horrified as we saw it was almost nothing. Ponies ran and hide in fear.
Then we saw it a pony in the middle of it all. "No it can't be...Kerberos?" Luna asks, as tears went down her face. He turns after hearing Luna to show his smile and dark magic pulsing from his eyes.
A long battle was carried out and we seem to be losing as we couldn't fight him....our closest friend.
We couldn't do it. We were beaten and we had lost hope. He used his dark magic to send us flying the ground. But then he froze. He was looking us in the eye. Our fearful faces as we lay beaten on the ground
"Luna...Celestia?" Said Kerberos as his dark magic faded. After a while of silence the elements began to move toward the pony as his horn glowed.
Luna was the first to figure out what may happen. "Kerberos don't!!!" Luna cried as she ran towards him slowly due to her injures. A shield hit her in the face as she tried to get closer. She then began to pound on the shield. "KERBEROS NOO PLEASE!!!" She was crying against the shield
"I'm sorry." He cried as the two princesses watch as the element started to glow and spin around him. Then they started to slowly turn him to stone but before his face turned to stone. A whip of his evil came out.
He was finally turn to stone but the evil within made sure that all who locked eyes with him would tremble. Because the evil within him left his face into a look that would cut deep in all who look upon it.
The shield faded as Luna ran toward the statue limping while Celestia slowly walked after. "NOOooo...noo" Luna cried as she hugged the statue. Celestia hugged the statue for a short while then pulled Luna away as she tried to fight back. Celestia and Luna watch as the guards carried the statue away.
The man six sat there taking all the information in. Luna sat crying behind her sister quietly.
"So." Twilight finally get the courage to speak. "I...we..." Twilight tried to get her words.
Celestia knows straight away what she wants. "I purpose it about time" She started to walk toward the door signalling for the rest to follower her, which they did.
After a while of walking they came across a small door guarded by a royal day guard and a royal night guard. Twilight looked at the door felling shrives run down her spine. Something felt wrong inside.
After Celestia and Luna signal the guards to open the door. Twilight notice the guard let out a sigh after being told they were not to join them in.
The group walked in and while the door closed behind them. That when Twilight notices how strong the presence of magic was in the room.
Celestia noticing this says "A draining spell. Just to make sure he doesn't break out before we can help him."
"Help him....how?" Twilight asks in response.
"You see my dear student." Celestia started. "A while before his...moment. I and my sister were working on a way to help him with his new ability."
"We eventually came across a spell after many searching that can lock away one's dark magic. However this spell is very hard to do. I and my sister were not able to use it in time as we were not strong enough." Twilight notice a tears rolls down her cheek. "So when he turns himself to stone we tried for so long to find a way to one day use that spell and bring back the one we once called friend."
"And how is that turning out?" Pinkie pie asks as she had a feeling that if it worked she would have a new friend.
"Well lucky for us we manage to find six ponies that can help us perform the spell." Luna said looking back at the main six. Celestia who was also looking, giving her motherly smile.
"Indeed we have sister." The man six faces all started to smile but then it started to fall when Celestia spoke her next set of words.
"However. Even with the spell on him. He will still have Dark magic in him. This means he can still turn. All it takes to break the spell if for Kerberos to have experience events that would break the seal. We are unsure as to what the events are but we must be careful."
The main six all nodes in response but Twilight couldn't get a thought out of her mind. "What events?"
Her thoughts stop as she stop died in her hoofs. As the other mane 5 did so. Right there in front of her stood the statue. The only one in the room. Kerberos was standing in stone. They all looks up at his face. They all shiver as they see his terrifying, sharp smile and his eyes. His eyes seem to look right into your soul.
Pinkie on the other hand just saw a friend who in her mind was giving her a friendly smile.
"Oh-my" Fluttershy was the first to speak breaking the silence while the rest snap out of their trance.
"But princess why is it hidden?" Twilight speaks before thinking.
"Because the lives of my ponies couldn't be happy as long as fear still flows through them." Twilight turn her head to the right as she see Luna speaking the words just heard.
"But." Twilight started. "It's been more than enough time and I'm sure ponies feel safe now that we beaten Discord, Nightmare Moon, Chrysalis and King Sombra. Surely he should be seen in public for all to see. He shouldn't have to be hidden! Ponies should learn about him and look at him with a smile. Also-" Twilight stopped after seeing all the everypony starting at her with jaws wide as she let her mind get the best of her.
"I agree with icing on top." The group turns their head to Pinkie who was jumping up and down.
"Well if you two agree then I agree as well." Rarity was the third to speak.
"Might as well" Rainbow being the forth.
"Well count me in" Applejack being the fifth.
"I...I..." All the other ponies look around at Fluttershy. "I....also....*gulp*...agree." Fluttershy manage to finally speak the last words that were stuck in her throat.
"Wait a second my little ponies." Celestia began "We can't just...." Celestia was unsure herself. Part of her feared the worst but part of her wanted to go along as well. A hoof touches her left wing. She looks up and see's her sister smiling.
"Sister I agree we should. Kerberos would as well." The main six nodes after hearing this.
"Well ok..." Her eyes suddenly sift to Twilight. She saw as she started to wobble. Her eyelids slowly falling. "Twilight you ok?" Celestia asks.
"Sister I agree we should. Kerberos would as well." The main six nodes after hearing this. Twilight was glad to hear this. She really wanted the best to everypony. But why do I feel suddenly tried? She asked herself. Is it the draining spell? Suddenly a huge pain came crashing down at her from the inside. She felt herself to wobble as she tried to regain balance but could not. She also could not scream from the amount of pain she was suddenly in.
"Twilight you ok?" She saw Celestia asking her a question but she couldn't speak her throat was as dry as the roads of Canterlot on a hot day. Her eyes stared to fall.
"Cel-" She cried as suddenly everything goes black. She hears a loud "THUD!" followed by hoofs and worries voices. Before she knew it she was unconscious.
