> A New Spell > by Xhoral1865 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Let's get started. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Come on Twilight, you need to get up.” “Just five more minutes Spike.” “Did you stay up all night studying again? You know that the Princess will teach you the spells, you don’t have study the night before. She tells you to study after she teaches you the basics of the spell.” Spike said. Twilight looked up from the book she had fallen asleep on and wiped the drool from her muzzle, a mortified look on her face noticing there was drool on the book as well. She quickly cleaned the spot. “Yes I know, but there are so many ways to teleport. For example, one way to teleport is to make a hole in reality where you are and the place you are going. It only lasts for a split second, but the hole surrounds you and puts you were the exit is. It’s a weird concept and I don’t fully understand it but it looks like it could work fairly well. There’s also a way that rips your atoms apart and then reconstructs them in the area you are wanting to go. It seems painful and I’m not sure I want to try it, but it happens in an instant. There are just so many ways to teleport and I need to know them all so that I don’t disappoint the Princess.” Spike shook his head and moved some books out of the way so that he could put their breakfast on the table. Just like Twilight to study something even though she’s gonna be taught it the next day. Spike thought.”Well, here’s breakfast. We should hurry since you’re supposed to learn how to teleport today.” Spike and Twilight quickly ate their breakfast and headed towards Princess Celestia's room. As they walked they talked about what might happen while Twilight was being taught teleportation. “So, what kind of teleportation do you think the Princess will teach you Twilight?” Spike asked. “I’m not really sure actually. It could be the one where you deconstruct and then reconstruct in an area, or just making a hole like the one I told you about earlier. I trust the Princess to teach me one that she knows I can do. ” Twilight said. As they reached Celestia's room Twilight and Spike finished their conversation. A couple of guards were stationed outside the doorway and let them pass seeing that it was only Celestia's prized pupil and her baby dragon. Inside the room there was an ornate bookcase filled with books. Next to that was a small statue of Starswirl, but it didn't have his hat or cape. On the other side of the room was vanity table with Celestia's regalia sitting on it, waiting to be worn. On the walls were several paintings of the major events in Equestrian's history, and a small picture of a dark blue unicorn that seemed out of place but when questioned about it Celestia would quickly change the subject. In the center of the room was a table with an incomplete game of chess sitting on it. Finally, on the opposite side of the door, was Celestia sitting on her bed with a half-read book floating nearby. “Good morning, Twilight. Judging from the bags under your eyes I see that you stayed up late last night. I take it you were studying?” Celestia said. “Yeah she did. I found her sleeping on a book, she was even drooling a little.” Spike said. Twilight gave Spike a glare so cold he was sure a sheen of ice was forming on his scales. He even looked at them to make sure. “Did you have to tell her I was drooling? Really?” Twilight hissed. “No, but I’m starting to regret saying it.” Spike said. Celestia couldn’t help but let a small grin break through at the two’s antics. They were like a brother and sister; arguing, embarrassing each other, and generally being siblings. “Twilight, are you ready to begin your lesson in teleportation?” Twilight stopped glaring at Spike and looked at Celestia. “Yes, Princess. I am.” “Good, let’s go to the garden then shall we?” Celestia said. With that they left for the Royal Gardens to begin Twilight’s training in teleportation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To say it was a garden would be an understatement, it was more of a small forest than anything else. It had flowers, trees, and shrubbery from all over the world, able to grow here because of her wonderful gardener who knew how to make any plant under his care flourish. It also helped that he was a unicorn who specialized in plant magic but that was beside the point. It was a quiet place and only those who had permission from Celestia or her guard could enter, so it was the ideal place for Twilight to learn teleportation. “Alright, what is the first and most important thing about teleportation, Twilight?” Celestia asked. “The first and most important thing about teleportation is to have the starting destination and end destination you wish to go clearly envisioned. You must also be absolutely sure you will not teleport into anypony or anything, therefore you must teleport yourself at least a few centimeters above the ground so as not to have teleported your hooves into the ground.” Twilight’s face grew into a giant grin as she finished, quite satisfied that she had completely answered the question. “Very good Twilight. Now what is the next thing that must be done when using teleportation?” “The second most important thing about teleportation is to stabilize the amount of energy being used for the teleportation. This is because the amount of energy that would be needed to move that distance will be used. For example, if you wanted to teleport two meters to the left and you used enough energy to move three meters, you would move three meters instead.” Twilight’s smile widened having answered another question fully and correctly. Celestia couldn’t help but smile at her student’s eagerness to answer, “Very good. Now from what I heard Spike say you were up all night studying. Can you show me what you learned from the books I sent you?” “You bet! Er, yes, Princess.” Twilight said, embarrassed. Twilight’s face scrunched in concentration as she focused her magic into her horn. She stayed like that for several moments before she collapsed to the floor and looked at Celestia in horror. “What happened?! I did exactly what the books said and it didn’t work! Why didn’t it work Princess?!” “Oh, Twilight. Just because you study something doesn’t mean you’ll get it right on the first try. For something like this you have to practice it before you can get it right.” Twilight’s ears drooped and she hung her head low, “I’m sorry that I disappointed you Princess.” Celestia smiled and put her hoof to Twilight’s chin, “Twilight, I’m not disappointed in you. I’ll never be disappointed in you, my dear student. You always try your hardest and you have never let me down before. Just because you fai- ... didn’t do it your first try doesn’t mean you won’t ever be able to do it. Some things just take time to do. I know you’ll master this quickly and easily once you set your mind to it.” Twilight’s ears perked up and she straightened her stance. “Yes Princess, I will master this. You won’t be disappointed.” “That’s good to hear, Twilight. Now, since you studied all night and already know the basics I’ll leave you to it yourself. Have Spike help you too, and listen to what he tells you. He has a good eye for knowing when you’re at your limit and I don’t want you collapsing from magical exhaustion.” Twilight let out a nervous laugh, “Yes, Princess. I will.” Celestia stood up and started to walk out of the garden when she noticed that Twilight was still sitting in the same spot. She couldn't help but let a small smile cross her muzzle, “You may leave now, Twilight.” “R-right. Sorry Princess.” Twilight said. Celestia chuckled, “It’s fine Twilight. I’ll see you next week to see how far you've come on teleportation.”
