Fluttershy groaned softly as she rolled over- her lengthy, new body following its top half as the mare tried to get comfortable. She became vaugely aware of something secured in her grasp, and reluctantly opened her eyes, checking to see what it was. She squeaked- then devolved into a muttering mess as she blushed, realizing that the object formerly cuddled next to her was Twilight Sparkle. The princess was asleep on the wooden floor of the cottage, her wings splayed behind her. One of her forehooves twitched in her sleep, forcing the pink-maned hybrid to resist the urge to hug the lavender alicorn for all she was worth.

'She's so adorable!' she squeed inwardly.

Her hands clumsily wrapped around the purple princess' midsection, and the rest of her body settled down, curling around her friend's body protectively. Her muzzle dipped into Twilight's mane, her much more flexible neck allowing for such a thing to happen. Taking in a deep breath, she then sighed- wishing the moment would never end. She soon desperately wished the opposite, as the princess next to her awoke, her slumber breaking as her wings ruffled.

"Fluttershy..." she sighed "Fluttershy?!"

The hybrid hid behind her flowing mane, her hands removing themselves from Twilight, instead shielding her face from her crush.

"I'm sorry...I'm so sorry..." she whimpered "I- I- didn't m-mean to..."

The princess took a moment to wake up, and hesitantly placed a hoof on one of the hybrid's legs, idly stroking it in a soothing manner.

"I know..." Twilight said, taking a deep breath "...and...don't worry about it..."

"B-but-"

Twilight held up a hoof, silencing her.

"Fluttershy- I've lived in Ponyville for a little less than two years, and in that time, I've learned a lot about friendship. Lessons I used to think weren't important. I used to believe they weren't applicable to everyday life, unlike my other studies. I used to think that there was normalicy in the world."

Both of the mares shared a chuckle.

"But I digress, Ponyville's been a hotbed for the weird and strange, and don't get me started on some of the ponies around here- buck, I'm getting off track again..." Twilight sighed, shaking her head "...Fluttershy- if I can't accept you like this...then...all those friendship lessons would have been for nothing, but buck it all if I'm not having a hell of a time getting over it!"

For once, Fluttershy was unfazed by the use of foul language in her presence, and instead questioned the princess' reasoning.

"Why? Why?" Twilight responded "I wasn't fast enough! If I was...if I was..."

The alicorn began whimpering, burying her muzzle into her forehooves, pressing it against the cottage floor.

Fluttershy's head laid itself next to Twilight's own, nuzzling into the lavender princess' neck.

"It wasn't your fault." the mare said soothingly, softly reassuring her friend.

"Y-yes it was..." came Twilight's muffled reply.

"Well, if it was," she whispered into her ear "I don't blame you, I don't hate you...I...I...Iloveyouwitheveryfiberofmybeing."

"I...I'm sorry..." Twilight said, her head coming up- her eyes were red and puffy, and her muzzle streaked with tears.

"Nothing to be sorry about." Fluttershy said, boldly kissing Twilight on the cheek.

The princess blushed, despite herself, and her wings began to ever so slowly stiffen.

'No! Bad wings! Bad!' she thought, trying to hide her arousal.

"Um...Fluttershy...what about...um...us?"

"Not until you're ready," the mare said, resting her head next to the princess' "I'll be here for you."

"I think it's supposed to be the other way around..." Twilight chuckled weakly.

"Not necessarily..." the psuedo-pegasus said, a soft blush coloring her butter-yellow muzzle "...I mean...um...oh dear..."

Twilight's own muzzle became tinged with red, and leaned into the taller's chest, feeling warmth wash over her as Fluttershy's head tried to meet with her own.

"I wish this could last forever..." Fluttershy sighed, wistfulness lacing her voice.

Before the princess could reply, a low rumble was heard, and Twilight minutely felt herself vibrate, enough to tell her body that something was off. She wondered what it could be- there hadn't been any earthquakes since the earth ponies gave up the practice, thousands of years ago. It suddenly dawned on Twilight what the occurrence was, and she looked up at her friend, a small smile on her face.

"Hungry?" the princess asked rhetorically.

Fluttershy nodded, her new, hind-legs trying to raise her body off of the wooden floor.

"Oh! Don't get up!" Twilight panicked, motioning for the mare to sit down "I'll get something for you! What would you like?"

"No...no..." Fluttershy said softly, her rear shakily lifted into the air once more "...I...I need to do this..."

Surprising herself, Twilight took one of Fluttershy's hands into her hoof, and looked up at the mare with conviction. Her expression explained everything to the insect-mare, forcing her heart to flutter in her ribcage.

"Not alone, you don't."

The taller smiled down at the princess, her new hand carefully clutching the hoof in her palm.

'I'm so lucky...' the former-pegasus thought to herself, smiling happily down at her little princess.

"Twilight...do you...do like me like this? I mean...I know I'm not a full pony..."

Both of them stopped, as the grip on her hand tightened, not to the point of pain, but more like a tight pinch.

"Fluttershy...I...erm..."

The yellow pegasus looked down, abashed at herself for even asking such a question.

"You've always been beautiful, Fluttershy- I won't deny that." Twilight finally said "And...it freaks me out, just the tiniest bit, but...you're still incredible...even after you've gone through all that we and the others have."

'Twilight Sparkle, will you marry me?' she wanted to ask, beg to spend the rest of her life with the princess 'Will you do me the honor?'

"Well...um...th-thank y-you..." the shy mare said, bashful at the praise.

"No problem," the lavender alicorn smiled "now, let's see about getting something to eat."

Fluttershy whole-heartedly agreed with the princess.
