> The Legend of The Vamponies: The Beginning > by Night-Moon-12 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > 1: The Beginning, A Wedding & A Curse > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1: The Beginning, A Wedding & A Curse Once long, long ago… In the times when the Vamponies ruled almost all of Equestria, this was a time of peace for the very first vamponies; The Prince was named Life’s Heart Fire or 'Fire', an alicorn, created the first vampony stallion, and The Princess was named Moon Love Star or 'Moon', an alicorn created the first vampony mare. The stallion was known Dawn's Last Star or 'Dawn Star' after the Last Star that disappeared when the Dawn began the day, and the mare was named Twilight's Last Twinkle or 'Twinkle Twilight' after the last Twinkling of the Twilight when the sun and moon traded places in the sky. Dawn and Twinkle weren't the only ponies that first set hoof in the land of Equestria, aside from Prince Fire and Princess Moon; the only other first alicorns were named Queen Galaxia, King Cosmos and their two daughters Princess Celestia, and Princess Luna. But at first there were no vamponies, but Fire was engaged to Moon since birth, and he loved the young princess with all of his heart. But one night he was ambushed, and nearly killed by a Timber Wolf... But just moments before he was about to die, he pleaded to live just a little longer so he could see his Moon once more, a tiny bat had heard his plead. "I will give a new life..." said the little bat landing on a branch above Fire, looking down at him "But, you must promise that once you have been turned, you must change your dear friend into what you soon will be." "I promise... I will..." Fire said, before the bat had bitten by the bat to give him a new life for himself and his beloved as well. After his life was spared, Fire had to keep his promise he made the bat that had saved him. Two nights after his change Fire, crept to Moon's room as quietly as he could... Suddenly there was a scream and as soon as it began it stopped. Fire ran to Moon's aid, but as he entered the room he was greeted with only horror. Moon was on her bed her neck had been cut so deeply that blood was pouring from the wound, the guards were right behind Fire taking in the sickening sight before them. They took off their helmets in respect for their dying princess, Fire waked over to the bed of the dying princess carefully lifting up her head. Moon's eyes locked onto Fire's, ice blue to crimson red. Her eyes plead for him to save her life, and Fire asked to the guards to leave the room. They did without hesitation, thinking that the prince would say his last goodbyes to the princess, but Fire sank his fangs into Moon's wounded neck. The hours passed slowly by and Fire wouldn't let go of his Moon, she would be his forever in this new life of theirs. After long two days of waiting Moon opened her eyes to see a blinding light, which was the glowing sun but, the curtains where pulled closed quickly by somepony else in the room. Moon looked around to have found Fire siting by the head of the bed, smiling down at her. Moon opened her mouth to speak, but could think of anything to say but, “What happened to you, Fire? What happened to me?” “It’s alright now, precious Moon… Well, seeing that you awake now, I suppose I should start explaining.” Fire said, as he stroked her cheek. Before he continued. “I was out patrolling the forest, when I was attacked by a Timber Wolf, and it nearly killed me. But a bat said it would save my life and me a new one. Only if I promised that I turned you as well.” Moon got up from the bed and sat on the floor, as Fire sat down beside her. She did her best to understand Fire, and when she did, she asked calmly. “What are we now, my love?” “We’re Vamponies, dear.” Fire said with a warm smile, and smiling eyes. He pulled Moon into a tight hug, and patted her mane lovingly. Moon pulled away from his embrace, and looked up at him with a sweet smile. Fire kissed her on the cheek, catching her by surprise, but Moon didn’t mind that action too much. “Moon?” “Yes?” “I wanted to ask this a while ago, but I never got to at the time.” “What this is?” Moon sked with a raised eyebrow. Fire bent down on his hind quarts as he used his magic to pull out a box, and opened it to reveal what could be inside; a ring. The beautiful golden band had a lovely moon colored stone at its center, Moon’s eyes watered at the sight of the stone, it match her coat perfectly. “Moon Love Star, you’re the most beautiful mare I have ever known, I love you for your generous, caring, and kind nature. Will you be my princess?” “Yes, yes!” Moon said wrapping her hooves around his neck, giving his a big hug, and kissed him on the tip of the nose. Fire felt something inside of him, almost like a spark become a flame in his heart, at that moment he felt more happiness and love inside of himself than ever before. He kissed Moon full on the lips with pure happiness that had filled up within for the moment she said ‘yes.’ Using his magic Fire levitated the ring on Moon’s horn, Moon nuzzled Fire’s chest lovingly not wanting to let go, ever again. (Later) After night had come to Fire’s Kingdom, he sent out an accouchement to his subjects, everypony gathered at the main gate for the accouchement to be said. Prince Fire and Princess Moon stepped out onto the balcony in their royal attire, Moon was still wearing Fire’s engagement ring, she guessed for about five hours or so. The Captain of Fire Guard, Heart Light, took a step forward with a litigating scroll at his side, unfurling the scroll he took a deep breath, before speaking. “I happy to announce the engagement of Prince Fire and Princess Moon.” Everypony cheered in excitement, love, and praise. Fire and Moon smiled with happiness, and compassion for their subjects… But they happiness wouldn’t last forever… -------------- Moon and Fire’s engagement lasted for nine months, mostly due to Moon’s adjustment to her new diet. But she began to think that Fire’s was right all along, always being there for him made her very happy, and she felt like she could do anything with Fire by her side, they could get through anything together. And together we anything was possible, but, even so Moon had to get to the Manes & Tails Clips for her appointment. As soon as Moon entered the store, the alicorn mare at the desk got out of her seat and bowed to the soon-to-be bride, while bidding her welcome her place of work. Moon waited for the mare to stand up and look at her… she looked so familiar, but Moon couldn’t tell why until she spotted the mare’s cutie mark. It was an S-shape and its colors matched her mane and tail perfectly. This mare was Moon’s older sister; Teal Light. “T-teals?” Moon asked in a startled voice, as her eyes shrank to the size of pinpricks. Teal hugged her little sister, and asked. "How's my favorite lil' sis?" "Whe- How... What?" was all Moon could without letting a scream escape her mouth, and nearly getting squeezed to death by her sister. "I work here Moony, now let's get you're appointment started before your late, huh?" "Yeah..." Moon said nervously. The sisters entered the room side by side, but Moon still had something to get off of her mind, and right now. "Um... Teals? "Yes, Moon?" "I meant to ask you this while ago but I didn't have time to... 'Well, here go nothing...' Teal would you like to be my Best Mare?" "Moon, I'd be honored... Now let's get started and we only have two hours before your big wedding." It took only five minutes to style Moon's mane into elegant curls. A crown of blue shaded flowers were placed atop Moon's head along with her family heirloom; A silver comb, with gems that were colored like the shades of the moon. The dress was white with gold and silver details, and after the bride and bridesmaid and the best mare were ready the group of eight still had one hour to spare. -------------- Fire and a few of his friends stood near the alter what for the flower fillies and bride to walk down to the alter. Fire took in the tense moments of waiting but he knew the waiting would soon be over, Moon would come and they would be together forever. Suddenly everypony's head turned to the doors of the throne room as they opened, the pony on the organ began to play the wedding march as the bride walked down the carpet to the alter. Moon walked slowly as she had practiced, not intending to trip or let anything else ruin this special day. Moon reached the alter with Teal Light at her side, than she turned to face her lover with a smile that could melt a pony's heart, they both faced Fire's father; Heart's Dawn who preceding over this ceremony. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today unite Prince Life’s Heart Fire and Princess Moon Love Star in holy matrimony." Heart’s recited as the bride and groom stole a quick glance at one another. “Do you Prince Fire take Princess Moon to be your wife? In sickness and in health? Until death do you part?” “I do.” Fire said whole-heartedly. “And do you, Princess Moon take Prince Fire to be your husband? In sickness and in health? Until death do you part?” “I-” Moon began to say, but then out nowhere an arrow flew through the window heading straight for Fire but he got pushed out of the way by Moon, and the arrow found its place embedded in her side just mere centimeters from her left lung. Moon fell to the floor gasping for air, Fire and Teal were at her side within a second Teal cradled her sister in her hooves, as Fire used his magic to pull out the arrow. But her wound had already begun to heal, Fire had to yank the arrow out for Moon’s wound to finish healing up, and Moon didn’t move after her wound had healed. Suddenly a dark, chilling voice caused the room to fall silent. “On this day a princess shall fall and another shall rise in her place. 5000 years from now… Teavva Retrnu Shoodo Tatela Yonuga…” The room darkened to a pitch black void, that day was known as The Great Fall, and the Curse of The Sparkle had been played for the last of the vamponies that day had perished. > 2: Queen BlackStar & The Northern Vampony Clan > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2: Queen Black Star & The Northern Vampony Clan 2,000 Years Later… There was cave in the far North near the Crystal Kingdom as it was known at the time. A black vampony mare with a mane and tail red and blue, walked through the rocky passages until she reached alcove that acted as a baby’s room and nursery. The pregnant vampony mare walked over to the cradle and placed a beautiful pink blanket inside. Today was day the of Telea Dorona Veena or The Great Fall Walking over to her desk the black mare used her magic to pull out a book, a quill, and ink. After opening the book to a blank page, and dipping the quill in the ink she began to write. “My name is Black Star, I am the Queen of The Northern Vamponies. And I’m expecting a foal which I just found out about seven months ago, and my husband and I couldn’t be happier.” “But our clan can’t live in these caves anymore, there are too many of us, and too little of space.” Star sighed knowing that this would happen soon, but this soon… 'If only time wasn’t so fast, we wouldn’t have to move so soon.' Star thought, knowing that trip would endanger both her foal and herself. Then a deep blue coated vampony stallion with a mane and tail of purple and gray in the alcove and hugged Star lightly. “Dawn… I’m worried, w-what if the foal doesn’t make it?” Star asked, breaking down into tears. “Our foal will be fine.” Moon Dawn said, trying perk up his wife’s spirits. “It’s time to go…” “Dawn. It was 2,000 years ago on this day Princess Moon gave her life for her lover’s kingdom and her very own.” “Yes, Star you can quit reminding me of that…” “Oh shoot!” Star said stopping dead in her tracks, remembering about her check up with Dr. Free Heart. “Star, where are you going?” But Star didn’t answer she turned around, beginning to head for the infirmary. But Moon just stood there wondering why Star just left than it came back to him at that second. “That’s why…” -------------- Star was halfway to the infirmary when sudden kick came, this one was stronger than all of the others. Her weight shifted the bottom of her belly, and it was at that moment that Starlight Wing, a black mare with a show white mane and tail; her adviser came around the corner in her detraction, spotting the pain-stickered queen Starlight could only guess the cause was now. “Your Highness, what is it?” Darting to Star’s side, she immediately noticed a ripple of pain hit the queen in full force, the black mare let Star get on her back so they could get to the doctor fast. “Star we’re almost there!” “Starlight, I- OW!!!” Dr. Free Heart heard a yell of pain from the infirmary looking up from his equipment, Starlight flew into the room with Star on her back. Free Heart used his magic to levitate the queen onto a stretcher, Star let out another scream of pain the nurses ran into the room, one mare with ice-blue eyes turned to Starlight. “Go get the King! Tell him he’s wife in labor! GO NOW!! GO!” Starlight ran for the throne room, hoping to catch up with the King in time to tell him the news. Surely enough he was there walking to Coloman his second in command. “SIRE! YOURWIFEISINLABOR!” “What was that, Starlight? We couldn’t understand you.” Said the blue-ish green stallion. “Sire… *huff* your wife *huff* is in labor. Can I please pass out now?” Dawn nodded, knowing that this was true to her words. “Thank my king…” With that Starlight passed out on her side, Coloman picked her up as Dawn started to head for doors. “Dawn?” Coloman said turn his head to the king. “You go to your wife, and take care of my sister here.” Dawn nodded before running off to the infirmary, Coloman went back into the throne room, closing the ever so quietly. -------------- Dawn neared the infirmary as a yellow mare with golden mare looked to her right, spotting him she trotted up to while saying “Thira, heda sunma con da lanu, Dr. Free Heart toona yuni wifra insta toro muna. Shela losa tio muna bowla, dewna tamon esa Star’s guna, boota esen goota ita gita ouna. Esen jenna… emmon knewa thon! (Sir, this isn’t going well, Dr. Free Heart thinks that your wife isn’t going to last much more. She losing to much blood, the baby stuck in Star’s belly, but we can get it out. We just... don’t know how!) “Heather comena wita tao.” (Heather come with me.) Dawn and Heather walked into the birthing room, Dawn took his place at his wife’s side for support. Nurse Heather took her place near the queen’s belly, who was moments for losing her life also fighting for her baby. Star’s eyes dimed with ever second that passed, her baby was beginning to force it way out, as Heather began to help the foal. Dr. Heart got ahold of the foal, cut the umbilical cord and handed the foal to Heather, who wrapped it in a pink blanket. The doctor turned back towards Star, smiling. "Congratulations, you are the parents of a beautiful, healthy, alicorn filly. Do you want to hold her?” Star and Dawn both nodded, Heather handed the foal to her mother to see in her last moments. The filly had a bright grey coat, a mane of white and purple, eyes of crimson red just like her parents. “Name your daughter.” Dawn said taking his child so that she wouldn’t have to see her mother die. “Her name… *choke* …is Velvet Twilight.” Star said in her breathes of life. Her eyes closed slowly as her chest rose, before falling one last time. > 3: The Lonely Years, A New Friend, & The Agreement Prt 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3: The Lonely Years, A New Friend, & The Agreement Prt1 Princess Velvet Twilight grew up strong, brave, kind and witty, but she had never known her mother, although she could her sweet, light voice it had also been nineteen years since her birth. Velvet grew up under the care of her father, she was to never leave the caves without an adult around but all of the other young fillies and colts of the clan envied her for she got first rights too many things like food, and other great things. Even when she asked to go outside, the adults refused promising that she could later, but that never came. One night Velvet had enough of the lies from the adults, let alone from her own father. Fetching a black cloak, putting it on, than closing her dairy softly she left her alcove while hiding from the guards or anyone else who would try to spot her. After about a couple of minutes Velvet came to the mouth of the cave, in the distance she saw lights of a town, a town full of ponies that were celebrating the Spring Sunrise. Velvet couldn’t help but fly down to the little town that was far below, as she neared the town the sounds of dancing, music, and laughter filled Velvet’s ears, and smile crossed the young princess’s face. Velvet landed without a sound, looking around in excitement, with big eyes of joy. A young white colt with a simple gray mane/tail spotted Velvet as she was looking around with a smile on her face, he thought he should get to know her or at least her name. “Excuse me?” asked the white colt. “Who are you?” “Hello…” Velvet greeted with fear in her voice. “I’m Velvet Twilight. Who are you?” “I’m Moon Gaze or just Gaze. Nice to meet you Velvet Twilight. Is this your first in here in Blackhoof?” “It’s nice to meet you too, Gaze. Please just call me Velvet. By the way yes it is.” “Would you like me to show you around?” “Yes, please.” -------------- King Moon Dawn was headed for his daughter’s alcove to check up on her, and he also had a surprise for her too. He was going to his little Velvet to the little town of Blackhoof. “Velvet, I have surprise for you.” Dawn said as entered his daughter’s alcove looking around but he couldn’t find Velvet anywhere in the alcove. “Velvet?” That when he came to the conclusion that his daughter might be somewhere else in the cave, he called for his daughter personal guard. “Starlight Wing come here please.” “Yes, Sir?” Starlight asked, coming in room. Starlight had been Velvet’s guard since the death of Queen Black Star, but yet since the young princess wasn’t here Starlight immediately got worried. “Have you seen Velvet anywhere?” “No, sir.” “Where could she be?” “I don’t know, but I think that she might be at Blackhoof right now. I’ll go check.” Starlight with fear, clearly visible in her eyes and voice. “I’ll alert the rest of the guards.” Starlight waited for the king to leave the room, before looking around on the princess’s desk. She remembered seeing Velvet write in her dairy earlier that night. Opening the dairy to the marked page, then began to read the last entry written within its pages. “Dear Dairy, I think it’s time for me to get out and into the world that has been kept away from me for many years. I’m going out into a world I’ve only heard of in stories. A world of normal ponies, maybe they’re not like n the stories; mean, viscous, and feared enemies of the Vamponies. I am going to that little town, I think it’s called Blackhoof, and if anypony thinks of looking for me, than stop. No one needs to endanger themselves. Not Daddy, nor you Starlight you’re great friend and sister to me but this is my choice. You always said that ‘No matter what choice that you make, I’ll always respect it.’ So please, respect this choice of mine. ~ Velvet Twilight” Starlight understood now why Velvet wasn’t here, she really was at Blackhoof, knowing Velvet had made choice; to go off on her into the outside world, to see what she could to see out there. I know I’m supposed to be with Velvy, but she is right…. She made her choice now I must respect it. Good Luck Velvet. -------------- Velvet was walking Gaze through the small town of Blackhoof, this small town so lively, cheerful, and warm but yet many little ponies just Gaze’s age were staring at the filly in question. Just when thing couldn’t get worse, one colt with green eyes, a black coat, a blue mane/tail and a cutie mark of a red heart tripped Velvet causing the princess to fall onto her belly. The others laughed at Velvet but Gaze that this colt was trouble for Velvet but she didn’t pay tripper of a colt on mind. “Hey, you! Yeah you, new filly… Where did you come from a trash can?” Gaze glared at the black colt while saying, “You know, Hoof Heart, it’s not nice to hurt others when they don’t need it.” Gaze helped Velvet to her hooves, she shook herself off and turned to face the colt who was known as Hoof Heart. “That wasn’t very nice you know.” “Oh, look the Trash Filly can talk.” “I am not a Trash Filly… And you better watch what you say.” “Why should I? What are you, a princess?” “Actually…” Velvet said using her magic to take off her cloak revealing her wings as she spread them out wide for all to see. “Yes.” The other young fillies and colts were shocked to see an alicorn princess standing before them, Gaze was the first to recover from shock bowing in respect. The others fallowed Gaze’s example, bowing to her as to beg for forgiveness including Hoof Heart. Instead of a hash, snapping voice they heard a soft, gentle one. “Please, rise.” Velvet said with a bright smile, as everypony looked her way rising to their hooves. “Were did you come from?” “Why are your eyes red?” “Why are you here?” Question after question was asked which Velvet happily answered, all except one; “What are you?” When they asked ‘Why?’ Velvet politely said it was personal. Suddenly Velvet picked up the scent of a vampony, a stallion thinking quickly Velvet looked for a place to hide. Gaze and the other young fillies and colts caught onto the scent, only to find themselves fleeing to find places to hide too. Gaze heard barely a sound when the pony landed the boxes that he was hiding in, not too far from Velvet, who was hiding with a rain water cylinder. Gaze couldn’t help take a peek out of his hiding spot, there he saw a guard, he looked like Velvet, only without the horn. Than another guard appeared, a mare this time… Gaze spotted the mare’s cutie mark, it was the light of tiny stars shining their light down on a vampony wing. The stallion spoke up in a firm tone. “Were do you think she’d be Starlight Wing?” “Will you shut up, Talon Wind? I’m trying to listen for her you stupid, idiotic, son of a guard. Now shut up!!! Or I’ll send you back to the caves, where you should be.” “The others have already searched the rest of this dump these ponies call a ‘town’…” “FOR THE LOVE OF QUEEN BLACK STAR, TALON… SHUT UP!!! YOU KEEP SEARCHING FOR THE PRINCESS OR I’LL STRIP YOU OF YOUR RANKS FASTER THAN YOU CAN SAY YOU QUIT!!!! NOW, WHAT IS YOUR CHOICE?” Talon fell silent, beginning to start searching again. “That’s what I thought, Talon.” Starlight said raging fire behind her eyes, turning to the cylinder thinking that this was the last time that she would look in one of those again, hoping to find Velvet and hug her. But if she did find Velvet she would have to take her back to her father, and… and… ‘No, Velvet earned and deserves her freedom by leaving the cave… If I do find her I will lie about not finding her, but I’ll be blamed for it. I don’t care if I get blamed for not bringing Velvet home, it’s for the best.’ There came whimpering from the cylinder, a sound Starlight had heard before it was Velvet, she w,as scared out of her wits. Starlight caught the scent of the king on the wind looking in the direction of the caves they called home, Starlight saw King Moon Dawn coming her way and he wasn’t happy. Velvet knew her father was here, and to only make things worse there were two more ponies accompanying him, her blood ran cold. Those three ponies she hadn’t seen them before… but yet when they spoke their seemed eerily familiar. “Dawn, how could your own daughter run away like this? She has responsibilities to uphold… my son…” “Yes Mother?” “Try to find the Princess, Star Streak.” “Of course, Mom.” To Velvet’s mind, ‘Oh, great if they find me I’m toast… Oh, Velvet calm down. Firstly, there’s a mare and colt here along with my father, and in Moon’s name who else is here too. Secondly, I need to get out of here but, I can’t afford to be seen while doing so. Thirdly, what if I get caught by that colt… what was his name, oh yeah, Star Streak. I’ll have to go back home…’ “I found something! I think it’s her. Well… at least… her scent.” Before Velvet could think anymore, Star Streak had caught on to her scent. Velvet plead to Moon and Fire for this not be happening, but Star Streak had found me. To be conitued > 4: The Lonely Years, A New Friend, & The Agreement Prt 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4: The Lonely Years, A New Friend, & The Agreement Part 2 Star Streak had found Velvet by scent, but when she saw his eyes, he was blind. Velvet knew that it was very possible a one of her kind to be born blind, like Star Streak… ‘Oh boy, I hope that I don’t have be married to somepony worse than a blind pony….’ A smile crossed her face about the next thought that popped into her head. ‘At least a blind nice pony is better than a blind cruel pony.’ Velvet tried not be frightened, or anything of that sort. The daylight that was to come didn’t come at all, but a pony began to take form right next Velvet’s hiding place. It was a dark mare with a starry mane & tail, a sharp horn and wings stood before the vamponies, looking into the rain cylinder spotting Velvet inside. The black mare levitated the little princess of the cylinder setting Velvet on the ground before her. “What are you doing in there little one?” asked the darker mare, with a raised eyebrow. “I think that you were hiding from somepony, in fear if I am not mistaken?” “How are you?” asked King Moon Dawn stepping in between the black alicorn and the gray alicorn that was his daughter. “I am Nightmare Moon, mistress of the night, the stars, and the Moon. Who are you, stallion?” “I am Moon Dawn, King of the western clan.” “Clan of what? If I may ask?” “The Western Clan of Vamponies.” “Who are you, little one? You have quite a lovely pair of wings…” Nightmare Moon smiling at Velvet with sharp pointed white teeth. “This is…” Dawn was cut off by Nightmare Moon. “I was asking the mare, not you kind sir.” Velvet answered after taking in a worried gulp. “I’m Princess Velvet Twilight.” “And what are you doing out here, Little Princess?” “I came out here to see outside world, because I’ve been stuck in a cave for most of my life.” “I have a proposition for Velvet Twilight. I would like to make you my personal student, and teach you all that I know.” Nightmare Moon said with gentle, yet graceful smile. Velvet felt her heart leap out of her chest at this once in a lifetime chance, but yet she would be leaving her father and people. “Velvet, whatever you choose, my dear, I will respect it.” “Dad…” “It’s what your mother would have wanted, Velvet.” Velvet, for the first time in the longest time, found the will to look at her very own father in happiness, joy, and even hugged him. Dawn was happy to see joy in his own daughter’s eyes in the longest time. When the hug ended Velvet turned to her friends as they came out from hiding, Gaze had a smile gracing his face. Velvet had made almost a town-full friends in such a short time, Nightmare waited patiently for her newest student to say her good-byes to the ponies she’d met. She cleared her throat, before speaking. “Come Velvet Twilight, it’s times to go.” “Ok…” Velvet said before turning to follow Nightmare Moon.
