> Twilight Flips > by Flagstar of Flagclan > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The End > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You ready Twilight?" The purple unicorn restlessly switched from hoof to hoof, practically bursting with joy. This was her chance to finally practice her favorite spell without any interruptions from her friends. Everytime she had tried to practice, Fluttershy would bug her about some problem or Rainbow Dash would ask her to conjure up some stupid rock pile so she could crash through it. Even Applejack bugged her a lot, asking if she could make a chemical concoction to help the zab apples grow better. 'Heck if I know!' Twilight thought to herself. "Twilight," The voice said again, waving a hand in front of her face, "are you ready?' "Oh, yes Spike, I am." She closed her eyes and focused her energy, an aura making her horn glow. It was directed at a typewriter, practically new for it's time. Suddenly, a purple beam laced with pink sparkles hit it, causing it to light up. Spike and Twilight shielded their eyes as it started to get brighter. Then it stopped and the glow did away, the brand new typewriter gone, replaced with a keyboard. Both of their eyes grew wide as they saw the unknown technology. "It worked! It worked! All my hard work finally paid off!" Twilight screamed, her voice filled with delight. Her favorite spell had been one that she was creating, planning to show it to Princess Celestia and Princess Luna when it was finally completed. She ran over and picked up the object with her magic, then quickly placed it in her saddle bag. Then, she turned to the table where he spell was. Spike moved to grab it, but at the same time, Twilight shot a beam at it so it would zap to the princesses. There was a loud scream and then utter silence as the beam accidentally hit Spike instead. He lay there, paralyzed and unmoving. He had a large gap on his back, blood welling out quickly. Twilight ran over to him and stood by his side. She checked his pulse, causing her a small pang of relief when she saw that he was still breathing. She then raced out the door, galloping past towns ponies and jumping small fruit carts. She soon reached the hospital, where she burst in. "I need a doctor, stat!" She screamed. After about thirty seconds, a doctor came to her and she hurriedly told him the story. Together they ran back to the library, but it was already too late. Spike lay there lifeless with blood covering the floor. The doctor shook his head sadly then went to pick up the body. The next day was the funeral and everypony paid their respects. Even Cheerily made a speech in his honor. "Spike was a good dragon. He would come help in the school house sometimes, and even brought treats for the kids. You would always see him helping around ponyville and," sniff, sniff, "and he had a good heart. I never knew someone so kind and generous as him who was willing to help all of Ponyville at every spare minute. Celestia knows he'll have a good afterlife." Twilight sat in the dark library, tears streaming down her face. She's been like this for several days, never moving except to use the bathroom. She had neglected everything else, including hygiene, food, and water. Her skin clung to her bones, and her face was pale and colorless. The shades had been drawn closed, the room hasn't been cleaned. Droplets of blood constantly dripped from her nose, where she had sliced herself earlier with a knife. "S, Spike, I, I, I'm so sorry." She said between sobs, always repeating the same thing. All her friends had tried to help her, but nothing had worked. Pinky Pie brought cupcakes in for her every morning, but they sat untouched; Applejack brought her flowers after the burial and told her it would be fine, but Twilight ignored her, choked with grief. Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity had come to her for the past four days and treated her wounds, but she just kept cutting herself after they left. Twilight picked up the knife near her hoof and slit one of her wrists. She then dropped the weapon and watched as the blood dripped out. A knock came at her door and she turned around, a scowl coming on her face. "What!" "It's me, Applejack. Can Ah come in, Sugarcube?" "Fine!" An orange mare with a blond mane entered the dark room, a small flashlight in her mouth. On her back was her two saddle bags, each full of contents. Applejack set down the lantern and opened one up. Inside were several zab apples, each shining with it's rainbow like luster. She took one out and handed it to Twilight, who looked at it blankly. "Twilight, ya have ta eat sometime." She said softly. "Leave me alone!" Twilight's horn lit up, and she disappeared in a flash. When she got to her destination, she found herself in the Everfree Forest. She got up and padded along an old, dingy looking path until she reached a dead end. It was blocked up by a thorn bush, thick and high. Twilight shrugged and pushed herself through it, receiving cuts and scrapes all over. On the other side was a small cliff. On the left was a cave, full of sharp looking stalagmites and stalactites. She looked at both of her options, and chose the cliff. She jumped without thinking and to her dismay, it was only three feet high. A low growl came from behind her. She turned around to see a Ursa Major. She tried to zap it with her magic, but it was to quick. Twilight had only one last glimpse of the sun when it clawed her throat, then leaving her lifeless body to rot in the woods, where nopony would ever find it.
