Chapter 1

It's been one week since the Royal Wedding. Shining Armor gained a wife and Twilight Sparkle gained a new sister. But now Twilight misses Cadence and their old wacky antics as young fillies, however; because she is a Princess, their time together is rare. The only way Twilight can summon Cadence to Ponyville is if there is an absolutely good reason.

“Spike, Take a note.”

It's a regular day for the Mane 6 in Ponyville. Twilight is in her library, as usual, reading up on subjects that most ponies wouldn't even think existed.

“Dear Princess Cadence, I'd like to report that there have been several arguments arising in Ponyville amongst some of the couples. While this may not seem important now, it is actually causing some ponies discomfort and others the inability to work.” she told Spike, her baby dragon assistant, to write.

“Inability. . . To. . .work. . . Okay, Got it.” Spike says, wiping at his forehead as a gesture of completion and “hard” work.

“Thank you, Spike. Now you can send it.” Twilight says. Twilight props her upper body on the window sill, staring out the window to the village she has come to love over the years. She looks up to the sky, sighing, day dreaming about her days as a filly with Cadence.

Spike sets the quill down, wraps up the scroll, and sends the letter by engulfing the letter in a green blaze.

“You really miss Cadence, huh?” Spike says, walking up next to Twilight,

Twilight sighs, pushes off the window sill, and facing spike.

“I thought that since we're sisters now, she'd at least make some time to come see me.” Twilight says.

“She is a Princess after all, she could just be busy with royal matters.”

“I know, Spike. But still, you'd think she could at-”

Spike burps, green flames shooting in all directions in his mouth, and then comes a scroll. Twilight uses her magic to levitate the scroll in front of her face.

“It's a reply from Cadence!” Twilight squee's with joy.

“Dear Twilight Sparkle, I will be glad to let you know that tomorrow I will be visiting Ponyville to check upon these problems. Princess Celestia has assigned this issue to me because of my way with love,” Twilight reads the letter out loud. Twilight then sets the scroll down on the podium.

“I can't believe it Spike, I finally get to spend time with Cadence,” Twilight says. “She's actually coming.” She squee's again.

“So what now?” Spike asks.

“I'm going to go make a list of all the couples who are arguing. The faster Cadence stops the arguments, the faster we can spend time together,” she replies.

Twilight then levitates a scroll, a quill, and some ink. Spike hops onto Twilight's back and holds the ink for her.

“We'll make our way down to Sweet Apple Acres and back, I think we'll have all the couples listed by then,” Twilight says as she opens the door and walks out, closing it behind her.

As they make their way through town, Twilight and Spike look for any arguments that are stirring up. They spot a couple arguing just outside sugar cube corner about who knows what.

“Dream Caster and Corba Force,” Twilight reads aloud and writes.

They continue their search and find another couple arguing on top of the bridge that leads to Fluttershy's cottage.

“Sun Shower and Flitter,” another couple on the list.

The last couple they find are arguing just outside the fence of Sweet Apple Acres.

“Blaze Fury and Apple Cider. Okay Spike, we're done.”

As they head back to the Library, Twilight stops at Sugar Cube corner to pick up a few cupcakes for her and Princess Cadence.

“This is gonna be so fun,” Twilight says when they finally reach the Library.

“I wouldn't get my hopes up too high if I were you Twilight,” Spike says doubtful that Cadence would stay long after her job is done.

“Oh, Spike. I'm sure Princess Cadence would allow for some time to spend with her new sister,” she assures him.

“If you say so,” Spike finishes the conversation. He hops of Twilight's back and casually puts away some books that lay abandoned on the floor.

“Spike, I need you to clean up this place, I just realized how messy it is,” Twilight says, levitating some books in front of her to see what they are.

“On it,” Spike says, picking up a book in each claw.

Hours pass as Twilight reminisces about her filly hood with Cadence in her photo album while laying on her bed. Spike enters the room tired and beat.

“I'm all done, Twilight,” he says then yawns.

“Thank you, Spike.”

“Watcha lookin' at Twilight?” Spike asks, climbing up onto the bed with her.

“I'm looking at my photo album of me and Cadence,” she says, raising her hoof to point at a picture of her and Cadence with birthday cake all over their faces. “This is 3rd birthday party. It's the first one Cadence celebrated with me.”

Spike pointed and laughed at the picture next to it. Twilight's face turned red in embarrassment. The photo clearly shows Twilight sucking on her hoof as a small filly, while Cadence is holding her.

Twilight closes the book and sets it on the floor. “Time for bed, Spike.”

“Fine,” he says, still willing to see more photos.

Twilight turns out the light and situates herself under the covers. Spike finds a comfortable position within his basket bed and whispers, “Try not to suck on your hoof tonight, Twilight.”

“Ugh, Spike!”

“Sorry, Sorry. Goodnight, Twilight.”

“Goodnight, Spike.”

A few moments of silence pass before Spike starts laughing once again.

“Spike. . .”

“Night.”

Spike concentrates on containing his laughter. Twilight finally falls asleep, only to dream about the old days with Princess Cadence and the new times they'll share tomorrow and so on, while Spike, being Spike, dreams of Rarity.

It's a midsummer day. Twilight and Cadence are at the local park in Canterlot. Cadence pushes Twilight forward while Twilight swings. “I am so lucky to have you as my foil sitter, Twilight says.”

“I'm the one who's lucky, Twilight,” says Cadence.

“You're a princess. I'm just a regular ol' unicorn,” replied Twilight.

Cadence wraps her hooves around Twilight, picking her up off the swing set. “You're anything but a regular ol' unicorn,” Cadence says, setting Twilight down. Then they start their chant. “Sun shine, Sun shine, lady bugs awake. Clap your hooves and do a little shake.”

Chapter 2

It's morning now. Not a single cloud in the sky today. No signs of any kind of natural force that can ruin today are apparent. Twilight wakes up slowly, then with a jolt of energy, jumps out of bed to examine the new day, the day Cadence comes to visit.

“Spike, Spike wake up! Cadence comes today!” she shouts in excitement, while Spike only groans and rolls over, showing little care for the subject.

Twilight rushes through her morning routine then checks on the cupcakes to make sure their still in perfect standing. Everything must be perfect for Princess Cadence or else -Twilight being an organized neat freak sometimes - nothing will go the way she hopes. Twilight packs a few things within her satchel bags, especially the list of arguing couples. Telling by where the sun is, Twilight could guess it's about 10am. She opens the door and walks out.

“Oomf!” Twilight is knocked back onto the ground. She looks up to whom she had been waiting for.

“Cadence!” Twilight shouts, hopping back up onto her feet. “You're here, You're here!”

“It's nice to see you too, Twilight,” Cadence smiles.

Twilight and Cadence drop to the floor, skipping upon their hooves. “Sun shine, sun shine,” they repeat then cover their eyes, “lady bugs awake,” they reveal their eyes then sit and high hoof “clap your hooves,” then they turn away from each other and wiggle, “and do a little shake.”

Twilight stands in front of Cadence with her head raised, Cadence then lowers her head over the back of Twilight's neck.

“I'm glad you came Cadence,” Twilight says before they pull away.

“Me too. Now, let's go find those couples, hm?” Cadence suggests.

“Sure thing, Cadence,” Twilight says, levitating the scroll out of her satchel. “first is Dream Caster and Corba Force.”

Twilight closes the door to the Library and walks with Cadence through town. Some ponies here and there wave, some say hello, others bow. It's not long before the first couple on the list appear. Once again they're arguing but this time in front of city hall. Twilight nods to Cadence while checking the couple off the list. Cadence focuses and a heart forms, floating into mid air towards the couple as it breaks apart, then reforms in front of the two lovers. The arguing seizes and now stares off affection take place.

“Next is Sun Shower and Flitter,” Twilight says.

Again, not to long before they're found arguing in the park. Cadence repeats her process. Another heart forms, breaks apart, then reforms. Sun Shower and Flitter then smile to each other and hold hooves as they walk away.

“Last ones are Blaze Fury and Apple Cider.”

These two take a bit longer to find, considering Sweet Apple Acres is huge. But eventually they are found just outside the barn on the ranch.

“Hey Twilight, Hey Cadence, What can ah do for ya?” Apple Jack asks as they enter the ranch.

“Cadence and I are here to solve the issues between Blaze and Apple Cider,” Twilight tells er.

“Ah, those two have been going at it for days, 'be nice if they stopped. Well, I'll leave ya to it.

Cadence repeats the process for the third time today. Blaze and Apple Cider become quiet then smile. Blaze opens the barn door for Apple Cider. She enters first, then Blaze. Twilight and Cadence are done for the day and return to the Library.

“I hope you can stay Cadence, I bought some Cupcakes from Sugar Cube Corner just for us,” Twilight says. She opens the door to the Library for Cadence to enter first.

“I believe I have some time,” Cadence assures Twilight.

Twilight enters after Cadence, closing the door behind her. Twilight then brings over the cupcakes from across the room.

“So how are you and my brother, Cadence?” Twilight asks, giving Cadence a cupcake.

“We're doing great. I've been arranging our things within our chamber. We've been so busy the past week. But yes, things are good,” Cadence answers.

“That's great!” Twilight smiles and takes a bite from her cupcake. As does Cadence.

“So Cadence, what do you wanna do?” Twilight asks.

“Hmmm. . .”

“Princess, Shining Armor needs you back in Canterlot,” two Royal Guards enter the library.

Twilight frowns and sets her cupcake down.

“Okay,” Cadence nods to the guards, “I'm sorry Twilight, but I must be going.”

“But you just got here!” Twilight objects.

“I must, but I promise I'll stay longer next time, okay?” Cadence says, walks out the door.

Twilight sighs, “Okay,” she whispers, but not loud enough for Cadence to hear. Twilight watches Cadence from the window. Another pair of ponies are arguing as they walk. Cadence decides to take the quick opportunity to solve the problem.

“Hmmmm. . .” Twilight thinks for a moment, narrowing her eyes, as if she formulated some kind of plan.

“You're back, good,” Twilight says. It's been a few hours since Cadence left, and now she's back, standing outside the library door.

“Well, you did send me a letter saying that couples have started fighting again,” Cadence says.

Twilight nods. “I don't know how but it's the same 3 couples from earlier.”

“That's weird, well, let's get started then.”

Cadence and Twilight leave the library to seek out the couples once again. This time it takes longer to find each pair. Twilight uses this opportunity to ask Cadence about her and Shining Armor. It's takes a good 20 minutes between each couple to find the next. Twilight takes a few attempts to stop and have fun, but Cadence insists on finishing the job and getting back to Canterlot for royal business. After a while they finally finish and Cadence leaves for Canterlot.

These events continue through to the next day.

“Yes, Twilight?” Cadence says, annoyed.

“They started up again, Princess,” Twilight says.

“Ugh. . . Let's go,” Cadence says.

Again, Cadence and Twilight go out for the 6th time in two days. By the end of the second day, Cadence is physically and emotionally exhausted, while Twilight insists they go to the park and play like old times.

“Please, Cadence?” Twilight persists.

“No, Twilight. I need to return to Canterlot,” Cadence says.

“But. . .”

“No buts, Twilight.”

Twilight stops and frowns. Cadence turns and places her hoof on Twilight's head, rustling her mane. “How about this. I return to Canterlot, finish up my business as soon as possible, and tomorrow I promise we can spend the whole day together, okay?”

Twilight raises her head to look at Cadence, her frown slowly disappears and turns into a smile. “Okay, Princess.”

They say their farewells. Cadence returns to Canterlot and Twilight returns to the library to tell Spike of the good news. Twilight plans out the whole afternoon, from going to the park, to going to Sugar Cube Corner for a treat, and so on. Twilight finally has a whole day to spend with Cadence and the worry of it being cut short or ruined by any small incident or unforeseen event spoiling it is Twilight's top priority, so naturally, she plans every little detail of it.

Chapter 3

Today's the day, the official day Twilight had looked forward to. Twilight rushes her daily routine and has Spike gather her things for her. She opens the window and breathes in the warm air of the day.

“It's gonna be a great day, Spike,” She says. “Not a single cloud in the sky. Those Pegasi sure know what they're doing.”

Twilight turns around to the sound of a thud, to find Spike buried beneath the things she asked for. Twilight levitated the materials off his body. Spike rubs his head.

“Are you sure you need this much stuff? Seems like an awful lot for one day, don't you think?” Spike grumbles.

“Everything needs to be perfect Spike and with these tools, I'm ready for anything.”

“Even this?” Spike asks, holding up a book on Equestrian politics.

“Yes, Spike,” She says, levitating it into her satchel.

“But How-”

“It's not important Spike. Let's just get everything ready for her.”

“I think you're going a bit over board with this, Twilight.”

“Nonsense Spike.”

A creak is hear downstairs, possibly from the door.

“She's here!” Twilight shouts, stuffing everything she needs into her satchel bags and then runs downstairs.

“Hello, Twilight,” Cadence greets Twilight. She too had her satchel bags.

“Are you ready to spend time together today?” Twilight asks with a huge grin.

“Of course.”

Twilight and Cadence leave the library, They spend the first part of their day at the park, playing with the younger fillies and colts, while trying to re live their days as young ones. Then for the second part, they take a visit to Sugar Cube Corner for some treats. This is a chance for Cadence to officially get to know Pinkie Pie as well. Twilight then decides that Cadence should meet – officially- her other 4 friends. Rainbow Dash shows Princess Cadence the Rainboom for the second time, Fluttershy introduces Cadence to the woodland creatures, Rarity shows Cadence her new dress designs, and Apple Jack shows her around Sweet Apple Acres.

So far it's the perfect day for Twilight.

“Princess, Celestia wants to meet with you as soon as possible,” a Royal Guard tells Cadence.

Twilight falls onto her bum and frowns in disappointment.

“Right now?” Cadence asks.

“Yes, Princess.”

Cadence sighs and looks to Twilight. “I'm sorry Twilight.”

“Don't worry, Princess,” Twilight lowers her head, “It's not your fault.”

Cadence gives Twilight a quick hug, “Thank you for understanding.”

Twilight nods, gets up, then walks back to the library. Cadence follows the guard to her chariot, thus returning to Canterlot.

“Wait, I forgot to give her this gift I got her,” says Cadence to the guards. The guards then turn around, flying back to Ponvyille, and landing right in front of the library. Cadence slowly opens the door.

“Twilight, you here?” Cadence asks. Cadence waits a few moments, then decides to look around for her. Cadence opens the first door she finds, creaking it open just enough for her to see.

“If Cadence can't stay for me, then she'll stay to fix the arguments,” Twilight says, looking into the mirror that hangs upon the wall. Twilight focuses her magic, creating a whirlwind of purple light that swirl around her body. Once the spell is over, her new form is revealed. She now takes the form of Dream Caster. A pink hided unicorn mare with blue curled mane and a diamond sparkle cutie mark. “Now I just have to find Corba Force,” Twilight says then turns to see Cadence standing within the door way.

“Twilight Sparkle,” Cadence says, “what do you think you are doing?”

“Princess! I uh. . .”

“Are you the ones purposefully creating problems amongst the couples just for me to come to Ponvyille?” Cadence demands to know.

“I. . . Yes, Princess,” Twilight lowers her head.

“I'm disappointed in you Twilight. Now change back.”

“Okay, Princess.” Purple light dances around Twilight, engulfing her body then fades away, returning her to her normal self.

“Now tell me what this is about.”

“I just wanted to see you more. . . At first it wasn't me, but when I realized that you'd come and stay to help, I looked up a transformation spell in order to go around causing problems so that I could report them to you,” Twilight explains.

Cadence sighs then smiles. “Twilight, you have to understand that I'll always be here for you, but I am a princess after all, I have work to do in Canterlot. And I promise when I have free time, I will definitely come and see you. But you shouldn't be causing problems for other ponies just for me to come here when I have important matters in Canterlot to attend to.”

“I know. I'm so sorry, Cadence.”

Cadence raises her hoof onto Twilight's head, rustling her hair like she did the other day. Twilight smiles, thus dropping to the floor and starting their chant.

“Sun shine, sun shine, lady bugs awake. Clap your hooves and do a little shake.”

Later that night, Twilight is in her room, staring out the window to Canterlot. “Spike, Take a note. Dear Princess Celestia, I have learned a valuable lesson in friendship today. Sometimes you're friends may be busy, and you should respect that, instead of abusing their responsibilities as a way to get your way. Your friends, not matter how busy, will always make time to spend with you, but only when it is appropriate.”
